Driving about 35mph. Nearest vehicle ahead of me (semi trailer) was about a block ahead. My brake alert came on. I did not brake because there was no need to. Then the car applied the brakes automatically. No accident as no one was behind me. This occurred first week of Dec 2023. There was a prior incident about a month ago where the car ahead of me was about a car and a half length ahead. Brake alert came on, then Went off. I didn’t brake and really didn’t think too much of it. But after reading online, others having issues I thought it needs to be reported.
My rear fuel pump failed suddenly when we were driving in highway. No warning at all. We just completed our vehicle inspections by the Honda dealer 3 days prior. We also had them do oil change, replace brake and transmission fluid. It cost us about $2000 for towing and repairs. We found that there is a recall on other crv made the same year. How can I get my repairs reimbursed?
Sticky steering wheel - the steering sticks making it difficult to keep the vehicle driving straight. Vehicle has been taken to a local Honda dealership and we we're told the gearbox needs to be replaced and it would cost $5,000 to repair but there is currently a recall on the same vehicle 2 years and older with the same issue.
One year after I bought my new 2020 Honda crv the Torque Converter seal leaked and the oil seal was replaced. I had only 4670 miles on it. In August of this yr 2023 my battery died in the middle of no where and had to wait for AAA in 103 temp for 45 minutes. Today October 20th,2023 my car stalled in the middle of a 4 lane busy intersection. The car was towed to the dealership and the fuel pump was replaced at only 14,400 miles! this vin has had no recalls but im so disappointed since I bought a Honda for its reliability. I have a disabled 81 yr old husband and this has been more than stressful. My warranty expires this Dec 2023 and im afraid I bought a lemon. The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the air bag sensors. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V383000 (Air Bags), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 45,000.
Driving down the highway and heard a loud “boom”. Thought it was a tire blowout, but realized that the sunroof exploded. I did not hit anything. The temperature was approximately 70 degrees. Was the car the day before and did not notice any damage to the sunroof. Luckily the cover was closed so no glass fell inside the vehicle compartment. Reading of multiple occasion of this occurring to Honda vehicles.
On Sep 19, 2023 at about 6:10pm I got into my car at the CVS parking lot to drive home. As I reared back to get out of my parking spot, I heard a loud sound as if I had hit something on the passenger side and I returned my car to the initial spot to get out of the car and check what had happened. When I put the car into parking and tried to stop the engine, the car refused to stop. My foot was on the break, I was trying to turn off the engine but the car accelerated, went forward, then backwards, and kept going back and forth in all directions without me being able to control it. At the end it headed on the road when finally another car hit my car and this caused the car to stop. When the car stopped, it was still on Park and I was then able to turn it off. This happened in the evening. In the morning when I was going to work, as I entered my garage I tried to turn off the radio because there was no reception but I was not able to turn off the radio or to lower the volume. At that time I did not think it was an issue but in retrospect, I think the two incidents might be connected. At the end of July 2023 (about a month and a half before the accident) I started getting multiple warning signals on the dashboard and then I took my car to Honda Dealership who fixed the electronics for $850 and the car was returned to me. I have a police report # 2023-09190211 with witnesses for the accident on 9/19/2023 and the Honda Dealership should have detailed records from their work because it was quite recent. It is a miracle that there were no injured people as a result of this accident. It was extremely scary and horrible to be in a car that cannot be controlled. This has to be investigated and measures should be taken to prevent this from happening to others. I have not received yet the assessment from the insurance and I can provide more details when they share their findings.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the contact heard an explosive sound coming from the vehicle without incident. The contact pulled over to inspect the vehicle but discovered no damage; however, upon resuming driving, she heard rushing wind coming from the panoramic sunroof. Upon pulling back the sunroof cover, the contact discovered a significant-sized hole in the sunroof. An unknown dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.
BREAKS STOPPED WORKING AND ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON ON THE DASHBOARD. RAN OFF THE ROAD AND RAN OVER A SIGN CAUSING DAMAGE TO Rf QUARTERPANEL. THE LEALER SIAD THAT MY HABNDICAP PLACKART HAD CUT THROUGH THE WIRING IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, SHORTING OUT THE SYSTEM. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE PLACKARD WAS BEIG HUNG AS INTENDED. PLACKARDAS ARE HARD PLASTIC AND COULD CUT THROUGH INSULATION.
Driving on the freeway with my foot on the accelerator, the car lost power even thought the engine was running. The engine light came on as a static light - it was not blinking. I pulled off the freeway, put the car in park, and shut the engine off. When I restarted the car the engine light was off and I was able to accelerate again. After the first incident, I took it to a Honda dealer who replaced the fuel injectors. This did not solve the problem as it happened on the drive back from the dealers when I was again driving on a freeway with my foot on the accelerator and I lost all power, the engine was still running and the engine light came on. I pulled off the freeway, put the car in park, and turned off the engine. The car is now at the second dealer to determine the cause. My car only has 46000 miles on it and there should not be these types of uses with the low mileage.
I purchased my Honda CR-V new from a dealer in 2020. It seemed to work fine, but earlier this year strange things started to happen with the electrical systems. The Remote starter would not work, the door locks and various lights would act strangely. The initial three -year warranty was up, but I had purchased an additional 4-year warranty extension. I took it to the dealer for repair and they said it needed a new Body Management System, which was on back order. several weeks later, I had that replaced, but they said they also had to replace the door locks, so I had to come back and have them do that too. On Sep. 1, I needed something from the car, but the fob wouldn't open the door and I had to use the manual key. I made a service appointment for Sep. 5, however on Sep. 3 I tried to use the car and found that it is totally dead. No electrical or electronic systems are working at all. From what I have read, I am concerned that this is an electrical problem that has been exhibited in many other CR-Vs as well.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle almost stalled. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights were illuminated, and the vehicle was losing motive power. The contact stated that the vehicle had decelerated to 5 MPH and failed to respond while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was driven to the residence and then towed to a local dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the fuel pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V858000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.
Oil Dultion issue. There are class action lawsuits on this. How is this not being addressed.
The break pedal felt stiff and I had hard time coming to a stop. That was going on for a few days until the car was dropped off for service. The reason was a break booster failure. We were told that it never happens. Even though the car only had about 15K miles we were out of warranty so had to pay $2400 to get it fixed. We filed a claim with Honda but were denied in reimbursement. Honda had break booster recalls in multiple models but not this one. However, there's no reason for the break booster failure other than a manufacturer's defect.
Had my car inspected on Aug 5 everything was good and as I was driving down the road on Monday Aug 7 that afternoon and my airbag system (SRS) problem light came on we called the dealership on Tuesday morning and they said that we could drop it off and leave it on Wednesday and they would look at it when they got to it. So they called on Thursday and said it was u3000-49 internal failure of srs system also said found to be communication issue with the seat sensor which is made onto the frame and said the seat will have to be replaced If isn’t replaced and if I was to get in. Wreck the air bag or seat belt could not work properly and could result in someone getting hurt.
The orange flashing rectangular "BRAKE" warning light on the dashboard display comes on intermittently and randomly while I am driving when there is NOTHING on the road or in front of the car warning me that the car will be braking itself. This has happened while driving 70 mph on the Interstate as well as on local roads going 30-40 mph and in all of these instances there has been nothing in the way of the car! No vehicles. No objects. Nothing. If I had not seen the warning light display on the dashboard and the automatic braking system would have stopped my car while driving 70 mph I could have been killed by a driver behind me on the road running into my car or by severe whiplash from stopping so fast unknowingly. I have reported this to my local Honda dealership where I bought the car (twice now in the last 10 months; once on 8/1/23 and again on 5/9/24). They said they have no knowledge of a potential recall even though I have told them I have read multiple articles in the past several months about a possible recall. I am taking my car to a local body shop to have it scanned to see if they can find anything wrong but the dealership refuses to check the codes as a courtesy free of charge. Honda has suggested I wash my car to clean the sensors of debris which I do very often and the issue just keeps happening. Thank you.
on June 23, 2023, had all the dashboards' lights came on and rough running Mechanicville. Honda say it high-pressure fuel pump replaced it for 1800 dollars. Then on July 23, 2023, all dashboards' lights came on again then they say it's the fuel injectors need to be replaced at 1900 dollars. All this while driving at highway speed someone is going to get killed because the car has fuel problems
Hi - Thanks for your attention. I am reporting an issue that have been affected many Honda CR-V owners' safety: All Warnings Lights On Dash like Christmas tree, while driving slowly on private driveway on [XXX]. No particular reasons we could figure out: Only about 21,000 miles and < 3 years; no blocking of the sensors, good battery, no wire issue by eye inspection. Following some online suggestions, rebooted in Accessory Mode, not working; reconnected/disconnected battery, worked. However, it has been reported this issue will come back again in a short period, in an unexpected way, which poses significant safety issue. There are many online discussions, but Honda has not provided a solution for these severely defective vehicles, which surely has caused severe accidents and caused panic during HIGHWAY drive. Hope you could take some actions to protect the drivers' lives. HUGE Thanks. Car parked in driveway running, in park. Went inside for less than 5 sec, came out and car rolling backwards out of driveway, 15 month old inside. Car went across two yards, struck 3 trees and lamppost coming to stop in woods/creek. Car was in PARK when entered car and checked by bystander. By the grace of God child was not hurt. Hanover County deputies, EMS responded. Report #23-101783. Car is at West Broad Collision
Vehicle activated emergency braking system for no apparent reason. If a vehicle would have been behind us, it may have collided with us. The brake released at around 10 mph.
My wife driving it all light come on. Take it to shop high-pressure fuel intake had low pressure. Tool cost a lot for an independent shop. Had to tow it to the dealer to be fixed. At dealer found high-pressure fuel pump was bad 1300 dollars to fix. No way a 2020 Honda with 78,000 miles
While driving on the highway at 65 mph I heard what I describe as a very loud popping noise on the top of my car. I looked in my rearview mirror to see chunks of black falling behind my car. I immediately put my four ways on and made my way over to the shoulder of the road; this was during rush hour traffic. I had to wait until I could safely exit my car to see what had happened and I discovered my sun roof had shattered for no reason. Nothing had hit it, nothing bounced on the road in front of me and hit my roof, nothing had flown off of any vehicles near me.
Five separate times when starting the car the brakes shake and a message shows up on the dashboard "Brake System" - "Brake System Problem" - "Electric Parking Brake Problem". The car had less than 25,000 miles when I first saw this message. I am not an expert but seems like an electrical problem.
Drivers side seat belt failure during accident. Noted by police and EMT
i was driving 55 mph on north long lake road approaching the north long lake/west long lake intersection. A car was in the turn lane and almost turned to Lake Ann. Another car was approaching going east. The automatic braking suddenly came on for no reason Almost stopping the car in the middle of the road. The CRV slowed very quickly from 55 mph to 5 mph for no reason. Then it went off and I was able to speed back up. this is the second time the braking system has stopped the car for no reason. Luckily there was no one behind me. this is the second complaint I have filed to NHSTA for the same reason
My seat belt has come undone many times in the last few months while I am driving. I reached out to the local dealership that repairs my car and inquired about it, they hadn't heard of a recall. 2-3 months later there has been a recall issued on my year and model of my car for this issue. I brought it in on May 24 to get it repaired and was told they couldn't repair it because there wasn't an actual recall on my car. Well later that day it has happened twice where my seatbelt came undone while I was driving.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle independently stopped. The contact stated that the brake pedal had not been depressed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Action Number: PE22003 (Forward Collision Avoidance). The failure mileage was approximately 39,000.
Airbag SRS system warning light. Dealership confirmed airbag inflator on driver side was faulty and airbags would not deploy if driver was in an accident.
Car came to an emergency stop with no cars or other objects in it's path
AT A 4 WAY STOP INTERSECTION, WHEN IT WAS MY TURN, I DROVE THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND SUDDENLY THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM STOPPED THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION BUT THERE WAS NOT ANYTHING i WAS GOING TO COLLIDE WITH. THE "BRAKE" WARNING CAME ON BUT AS SOON AS I STOPPED VERY ABRUPTLY, IT WENT OFF AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AWAY. i AM TERRIFIED THAT THE CRV WILL BRAKE AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING AND A CAR WILL HIT ME.
Whenever it snows, the radar placement on the front grill of the vehicle gets covered in snow/ice, etc. and all advanced safety features are shut off while driving. This has been reported to Honda before over the last 2 years to no avail. This is a safety hazard and also very dangerous while driving in inclement weather.
The contact stated that his granddaughter owned a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while his granddaughter was driving approximately 40 MPH, the automatic braking system activated on the instrument panel and the vehicle stopped immediately after the failure. The driver had to wait several minutes before being able to continue driving. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000. The dealer adjusted the cameras and sensors. The repairs were made at the owners expense.
Phantom Braking incident. This has changed continually happened since I took delivery of the vehicle. The brakes are autonomously applied for no apparent reason.
My wife and family left Evans, Georgia, on 06-Apr-2023 for their first cruise that departed from Miami, Florida. As they traveled down the interstate on 07-Apr-2023, the cruise date, the vehicle's right brake came off. My daughter steered the CR-V to safety without causing a major accident on a major Interstate Highway. They contacted the local Honda, Brickell Honda, 690 S. W. 8th Street, Miami, Florida, who dispatched a tow truck. The Service Representative was [XXX]. She asked whether the brakes had been worked on before; they had never since purchased the CR-V. Also, she confirmed that the damage was not due to road debris. Brickell Honda repaired the CR-V for $1151.31. The communication with Brickell Honda was good while the CR-V was in the shop. However, when we tried to reach out to the Service Advisor after the repairs were completed, it differed from Honda's standards. She failed to respond to our calls, voicemail, and text message. On 23 Apr 2023, I decided to have my local Honda, Gerald Jones Honda, 4022 Washington Road, Martinez, GA, review the work completed by Brickell Honda. They did not know why the brakes would have came-off, but they noticed the right rear brake line tangled up and the bolt left loose. These were things that Brickell Honda left undone, putting my family at risk! According to Gerald Jones Honda, fixing those things would cost an additional $175.00. We paid $201.25 for Gerald Jones Honda Diagnostic. “INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).”
The steering is sticking intermittently durning slight right turns. it takes a little effort to straighten out the wheel in those instances. This happens in only right hand maneuvers. unfounded by the dealer.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and making slight right turns, the steering wheel was sticking and required to be manually steered to the center. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring intermittently. Additionally, the contact stated that the failure had progressively gotten worse, requiring the driver to use more physical force to turn the steering wheel to the center. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The dealer replaced the ABS module and the rack and pinion; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 29,000.
0n 03/29/2023 i took my car to the dealer for service ( 3rd time ) because my car has only 19000 miles on it . to my surprise the service manager told me that 2 of my tires where in need of attention because there where to close when the tires need to be replace. i ask what is the cause of the uneven wear of the tires ( 5/32,6/32,4/32,4/32) he said didn't know the cause.futher research on my side i find there is a service bulletin from honda ( bulletin 20-081)date from october 8 2020 . with paper in hand i went back to the dealer ,they refuse have any knowledge in regards to the service bulletin. for that reason they wont be able to help. on my search from help i contact HONDA headquarters they asignate a case number and require a mechanical report from the dealer , in which they didn't find any problems with the car , from that came to the conclusion that the tires where the problem , talk to the tire manufacture , what they told me that HONDA need to file a report for them to warranty the tires , so far HONDA deny any warranty on tires
235/60R18 service bulletin 20-081 October 8 2020 after only 16000 miles and a trip to the dealership I advised that the wear and tear of every tire was different and need attention. I ask why the difference between the wear they suggested check the vehicle for problems with the suspension, nothing was found. I ask for replacement under warranty I even showed the service bulletin from honda mentioned at the top of this page , they ask me to contact the tire manufacturer witch I did, the manufacturer told me since I didn't purchase the tires directly from them warranty was denied, I went back to the manufacturer honda file a case which they denied because they didn't think my case fits the service bulletin from them. At the end I make the expense to replace the tires , what makes a huge difference in the handling of the vehicle. Case# 13736110 with honda
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while at a complete stop, another vehicle going at high speeds crashed into the front end of the passenger's side of the vehicle, and the driver's side air bag deployed abnormally. The air bag exploded and propelled a chemical powder that burned the contact's right hand, throat, chest, and caused the contact ears to ring. Additionally, there was smoke inside the vehicle. A police report was filed. The contact was able to exit the vehicle. The contact was transported to the hospital with the assistance of the emergency units. The contact was still receiving medical assistance. The vehicle was towed to a an auto repair body shop. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.
On multiple occasions, the car initiated the automated emergency braking, bringing the car to a full and sudden stop in the middle of traffic, despite there being no obstacle, and without first giving a forward collision warning. This easily could have resulted in a catastrophic crash, or at the very least whiplash, at higher speeds. I can provide dashcam footage of one of these events.
headlight assembly fogging from excess water entry reduces visibility of daytime running lights.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the collision mitigation braking system (CMBS) engaged inadvertently while there were no vehicles or objects nearby the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that they could not duplicate the failure as there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Several months ago, I was driving on the interstate with cruise control on. I passed a disabled vehicle parked on the shoulder of the highway. My car started to brake like crazy on its own when I passed this vehicle. Fortunately there were no other vehicles next to me or behind me or I could have had a very serious wreck. Last weekend, I was driving in town and already slowing down on my own for a vehicle in front of me. I was barely touching the brakes but the automatic braking slammed on the brakes for no apparent reason and almost caused the car behind me to rear end my vehicle.
The car brakes have a delay to engage. My vehicle rolled forward 5 feet when brakes disengaged. The brake pedal makes a clunking sound after foot is removed. There is a slight delay between brake release and clunking sound. They stick and car slides forward.
The contact owns a 2020 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while driving at various highway speeds, the vehicle intermittently downshifted without warning. The contact stated that on one occasion, he lost control of the vehicle as the vehicle drifted into another lane, which activated the lane assist warning feature. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer where he was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle; the mechanic also could not diagnose or duplicate the failure. The dealer recommended that the contact disengage the STOP/START feature each time he started the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred him to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.
1. Feb 1st. Vehicle stopped on a major highway while I was in fast lane at 70 mph. 2. I could have died. And most certainly would have caused a major accident if myself and others not been keeping proper distance. 3. No. I'm out of warranty. 4. No. 5. Most of the sensors flashed all random before vehicle stopped. I mean the warning sensors like tpms, mitigation, emergency braking system.
The check engine light on my 2020 Honda CRV illuminated on 1/24/2023 7am. The dealer inspected the vehicle on 1/26/2023 and found that a TSB 02-081 applied. The issue is that radio interference in the environment can trigger a fault in the evap syatem which then triggers the check engine light to come on. Seeing a check engine light on is scary and distracting. The owners manual states to drive the vehicle as little as possible and to have the vehicled serviced by a honda dealer ASAP. The vehicle is out of warranty and we had to pay over $330 to have the vehicle fixed. The fix entails ADDING a wiring harness. ADDING any part to remedy a problem means that the vehicle has a design defect/flaw that Honda should pay for. Not the customer.

Driving highway speed (65mph). Glass sunroof shattered for no reason. Nothing appears to have hit the sunroof, no debris on road and no trucks or other cars. Researching on web, it appears other people are also experiencing the same issue.
Driving on I-275 freeway along with my friend to Airport. Both Lane Keep Assistant and Adaptive Cruise Control were ON. I kept cruising at 65 miles/hour and drove about 7 miles with no issues. My vehicle slowed down by detecting a vehicle ahead of me driving in 55 m/h. As the next line was free, I moved to the left line and my vehicle started accelerating to 65 m/h. It had not detected a stopped vehicle ahead of me. I expected the ACC OR CMBS features to detect and slow down my car but no alert was received. Also Automatic Emergency Breaking system not slowed down or stopped my vehicle. I applied hard breaks but the vehicle hit the stopped vehicle and both airbags deployed. Lucky that we are safe and no injuries to us but car was totaled. Progressive Auto Policy: [XXX], Police Incident Number: [XXX], Ticket Number: [XXX], Honda complaint number [XXX].
