I WAS NOTIFIED IN JULY 2016 OF THE AIR BAG RECALL. I CALLED HONDA AT THE END OF JULY/AUGUST TO REQUEST THAT THE AIRBAG DEFECT BE FIXED. I WAS TOLD PARTS WOULD BE IN IN 2-3 DAYS. THAT WAS 3 MONTHS AGO. I NEEDED TO DRIVE WITH A FULL CALL AND CALLED HONDA CORPORATE TO GET A RENTAL VEHICLE SO AS TO NOT PUT ANY PASSENGERS IN DANGER. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD TURN IT AROUND IN 2-3 DAYS. IT TOOK THREE WEEKS OT GET A CALL BACK - NEARLY TWO WEEKS AFTER MY TRIP WAS COMPLETED. IT TOOK THREE MONTHS TO GET AN APPOINTMENT - HONDA NEVER CALLED ME TO INFORM ME DESPITE HAVING CALLED THEM TO ASK ABOUT IT SEVERAL TIMES. *TR

RECEIVED NOTICE IN THE MAIL FOR TAKATA RECALL (NHTSA RECALL #: 16V-344) AND POWER SWITCH REPLACEMENT RECALL (NHTSA RECALL #: 13V-260). CALLED WALNUT CREEK HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON 7/22/16 TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT, BUT WAS DENIED SERVICE DESPITE THE POTENTIAL FATAL DANGER OF THESE SAFETY RECALLS. PROVIDED VIN NUMBER TO [XXX] FROM SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOUR TIMES, WHO REPEATEDLY TOLD ME SHE CANNOT FIND MY VIN IN THEIR SYSTEM AND THEREFORE THERE IS NOTHING SHE CAN DO ABOUT THE RECALL. I OFFERED TO PROVIDE OTHER INFORMATION SUCH AS MAKE/YEAR/MODEL TO HELP LOCATE MY VEHICLE, BUT [XXX] REFUSED TO TAKE ANY INFORMATION AND INSISTED THERE IS NOTHING THEIR DEALERSHIP CAN DO ABOUT THE RECALLS. I ASKED HER FOR RECOMMENDATIONS IN TERMS OF HOW TO GET THESE POTENTIAL FATAL DEFECTS REPLACED, SHE PROVIDED THE SAME ANSWER ?THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO?. HEARD SIMILAR STORIES FROM OTHER HONDA OWNERS ABOUT THE WALNUT CREEK HONDA DEALERSHIP. SEEMS LIKE WALNUT CREEK HONDA IS SYSTEMATICALLY DENYING RECALL SERVICES IN AN ATTEMPT TO DRIVE CAR OWNERS AWAY SO THEY WILL TAKE THEIR PROBLEMS ELSEWHERE. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE HONDA RECALL CENTER HEADQUARTER, WHO REACHED OUT TO WALNUT CREEK HONDA AND MADE THEM AGREE TO PERFORM THE REQUIRED RECALL WORK ON MY VEHICLE. BUT NOBODY SHOULD HAVE TO JUMP THROUGH SO MANY HOOPS TO GET SAFETY RECALLS TAKEN CARE OF IN AMERICA IN THE FIRST PLACE. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW HELPLESS OTHER PEOPLE MUST FEEL WHEN THEY WERE DENIED SUCH IMPORTANT RECALL SERVICE, ESPECIALLY IF THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF AN AVENUE TO ESCALATE MATTERS WITH THE HONDA RECALL CENTER OR WITH THE NHTSA. MY COMPLAINT IS WITH WALNUT CREEK HONDA, NOT HONDA ON THE CORPORATE LEVEL. TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED THE NHTSA RECALL NOTICE 16V-344 YESTERDAY, IDENTIFYING A VERY DANGEROUS RISK ASSOCIATED WITH PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS. I READ THAT THE REQUIRED PART WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL "LATE SUMMER/FALL OF 2016." HONDA THEN HAS THE NERVE TO SAY "HONDA SUGGESTS THAT YOU AVOID HAVING A PASSENGER SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SEAT UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED." SO I'M NOT TO HAVE FULL USE OF MY VEHICLE UNTIL MONTHS DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THEY FEEL LIKE MAKING THE PART AVAILABLE AND A DEALER FEELS LIKE INSTALLING IT? THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.

I CALLED THE DEALER IN ANAHEIM ON JULY 19, 2016 TO GET THE REPAIR NEEDED FOR MY HONDA FIT 2008 AND WAS TOLD BY MARVIN THAT KERRY, MANAGER WAS GOING TO GET BACK TO ME AND TO DATE I HAVE NOT HAD A RETURN CALL. I ALSO CALLED THE DEALER IN SANTA ANA, CALFORNIA ON AUGUST 23, 2016 AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PART TO FIX THE CAR. I CANT PUT ANYBODY IN THE PASSENGER SEAT BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS CAUSING A GREAT INCONVENIENCE FOR ME.
TAKATA RECALL - I RECEIVED NOTICE TELLING ME NOT TO LET ANYONE SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND THAT FIXES WON'T BE AVAILABLE TO LATE SUMMER OR FALL. WHAT THE HELL DO I DO IN THE MEANTIME. THIS IS AN INSANELY INADEQUATE FIX. I NEED A CAR THAT I WON'T KILL A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER IN THE NET 5 MONTHS. I CAN'T AFFORD TO RENT A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. WHAT DO YOU SUGGEST?

THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE REAR DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES, BUT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESUME DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER NOR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V344000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

TAKATA RECALL THIS CAR IS UNDER RECALL ACCORDING TO NHTSA'S DECEMBER 2016 THIRD AMENDED COORDINATED REMEDY ORDER. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE RECALL IS NOT SHOWING UP UNDER A VIN SEARCH FOR THE CAR. HONDA HAS CONFIRMED THAT THIS VIN IS AFFECTED BY THE TAKATA RECALL, BUT IT CANNOT SEND OUT A RECALL NOTICE UNTIL NHTSA ACKNOWLEDGES THE BATCH OF AFFECTED VINS HONDA SENT IT ON OR AROUND JANUARY 10, 2017. I CANNOT GET A DEALERSHIP TO PERFORM THE REQUIRED REPAIR UNTIL HONDA SENDS OUT THE RECALL NOTICE. THAT WON'T HAPPEN UNTIL NHTSA ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THE VIN, PER HONDA, IS AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. HONDA FORWARDED ALL THE NECESSARY INFORMATION TO NHTSA WEEKS AGO. THIS IS TIME-SENSITIVE SINCE MY 3 1/2 YEAR OLD SON IS QUICKLY APPROACHING THE REAR-FACING WEIGHT LIMIT OF HIS CAR SEAT. EVEN THOUGH HIS CAR SEAT IS CORRECTLY INSTALLED IN THE REAR SEAT, I CANNOT TURN HIS SEAT AROUND TO FACE FORWARD UNTIL I KNOW HE (AND I) WON'T BE AT RISK FOR SHRAPNEL EXPLODING INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. I'VE BEEN FOLLOWING THIS RECALL CLOSELY SINCE 2014, AND IT WAS NOT UNTIL MAY/JUNE 2016 THAT 2008 HONDA FITS WERE ADDED, BUT NOT MY HONDA FIT AT THAT TIME. LIVING IN COASTAL CONNECTICUT, I AM NO STRANGER TO HEAT AND HUMIDITY CYCLING AND AM BAFFLED (AND TERRIFIED) AS TO WHY MY STATE WAS IN THE LOWEST PRIORITY GEOGRAPHICAL AREA, BEHIND STATES SUCH AS ARIZONA AND PENNSYLVANIA. PLEASE PROVIDE EXPLANATIONS FOR THESE DELAYS, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY ASSISTANCE IN GETTING THE NECESSARY REPAIR PERFORMED ON THIS VEHICLE RIGHT AWAY. THANK YOU. NOTICED RED PAINT FADING ON ROOF, TRUNK, DOORS, ETC. UNDERSTAND HONDA CHEAPED OUT ON THE PRIMER AND UV PROTECTION CLEAR COAT ON THEIR CARS. I UNDERSTAND THAT THEY NEED TO MAKE THIS RIGHT AND PROVIDE A FREE PAINT JOB TO THE AFFECTED CUSTOMERS AND THAT INCLUDES ME!
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Fit. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated continuously. The vehicle was able to restart after waiting. The failure recurred four times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ignition coils needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The contact mentioned the vehicle was shuddering while accelerating the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the cylinders, valves, spark plugs, and head gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

DURING COLD TEMPURATURES, THE FAILURE WAS MORE COMMON. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
MY CAR IS CURRENTLY "LEAKING". THERE'S NO OTHER WAY TO DESCRIBE IT. WHEN IT RAINS A POOL OF WATER FORMS IN THE HATCHBACK WHERE THE SPARE TIRE IS STORED. THE FLOOR OF THE BACK SEAT GETS SOAKED THROUGH WITH WATER. BECAUSE THE WATER IS SO EXCESSIVE, THE CAR IS NEVER ABLE FULL DRY OUT, AND MOLD IS FORMING. I DO NOT HAVE A GARAGE, THEREFORE THE CAR IS ALWAYS SUBJECT TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL ELEMENTS. I HAVE SERIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT EXPOSURE TO MOLD GROWTH FROM THIS SITUATION. I AM PREGNANT, WITH A CHILD DUE IN SEPTEMBER. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE MY DAILY COMMUTE TO WORK IS OVER 30 MINUTES EACH WAY (OVER AN HOUR TOTAL) AND MY SHIFT BEGINS SO EARLY I ALWAYS HAVE THE WINDOWS ALL THE WAY UP (TOO COLD IN OHIO). I USE THIS CAR TO TRANSPORT MYSELF EVERYWHERE, AND ONCE THE BABY COMES I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE EXPOSING AN INFANT TO THAT KIND OF MOLD. ITS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR CHILDREN (AND PEOPLE WITH COMPROMISED IMMUNE SYSTEMS, LIKE PREGNANT WOMEN!) TO BE EXPOSED TO MOLD ON A DAILY BASIS.
LOW BEAM LIGHTS DUE NOT FUNCTION.LOTS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE COMPUTER.CALLED THE HONDA GARAGE WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD CHARGE ME TO LOOK AT IT AND TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM.
2008 HONDA FIT SPORT: POOL OF WATER FORMS IN THE HATCHBACK WHERE THE SPARE TIRE IS STORED. FLOOR OF BACK SEAT AND THE CARGO AREA BEHIND BACK SEAT IS ALWAYS WET, AND IS NOW GROWING MOLD. WATER HAS DRIPPED DOWN ON THE DRIVER SIDE HITTING MY HEAD. I AM ALSO CONCERNED THAT THE FLOORS WILL RUST AS WELL. THIS IS ONGOING. I LIVE IN SEATTLE AND HAVE LIVED IN ST. LOUIS WITH THIS CAR. BETWEEN THIS STRUCTURAL ISSUE AND THE AIRBAG - LAST TIME I BUY A HONDA.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, TRANSMISSION "D" LIGHT ON, SHIFTING ROUGHLY. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS WHEN THIS HAPPENED. DIAGNOSTIC CODES RUN: P0756 AND P0847. DIAGNOSTICS RUN PER HONDA SERVICE NEWS ARTICLE "HARD OR DELAYED SHIFTING WITH A/T DTCS P0756 AND P0847" TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS DRAINED. IT SHOWED THAT IT DID HAVE DEBRIS IN THE FLUID. THAT MEANS, ACCORDING TO HONDA, THAT THE TRANSMISSION MUST BE REPLACED. THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN THIS CONDITION AS THE TRANSMISSION COULD FAIL AT ANY TIME. SINCE THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT, REPORTED BY HONDA, HONDA SHOULD HAVE EXTENDED THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY PAST THE ORIGINAL 60,000 MILES TO COVER THIS. (MINE HAD 75,000 MILES AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED.) I CONTACTED THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO OFFER ANY KIND OF DISCOUNT ON THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION. I CALLED HONDA'S CORPORATE OFFICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO OFFICIAL RECALL OR EXTENSION OF WARRANTY, BUT SOME COST REDUCTION IS OFFERED IN CASES WHERE: 1. THE CUSTOMER IS A REPEAT CUSTOMER WHO HAS OWNED MULTIPLE HONDAS 2. THE CAR WAS PURCHASED AT A DEALERSHIP 3. THE CUSTOMER HAS SPENT ENOUGH MONEY AT THE DEALERSHIP (FOR SERVICE ETC) TO CONSIDER THEM A GOOD HONDA CUSTOMER. I DID NOT FIT THIS CRITERIA. THE GUY AT THE CORPORATE OFFICE SAID THAT I COULD HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALER, HAVE THE DIAGNOSTICS RUN AGAIN, AT MY EXPENSE, AND ASK FOR A DISCOUNT, BUT BECAUSE I DO NOT MEET THE 3 CRITERIA ABOVE, I MIGHT NOT RECEIVE ENOUGH OF A DISCOUNT TO EVEN COVER THE EXTRA COST OF TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE DIAGNOSTICS RUN A SECOND TIME. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT IF HONDA WERE TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY OR DO A RECALL IN THE FUTURE, IT WOULD APPLY RETROACTIVELY TO MY CAR, WHETHER I HAVE THE WORK DONE AT THE DEALER OR AT ANOTHER MECHANIC. (I'M HAVING THE WORK DONE AT ANOTHER MECHANIC.)

LOW BEAM LIGHTS DOESN'T TURN ON OR TURNS OFF BY ITSELF
TAKATA INFLATOR. THE CAR WAS INVOLVED IN A SINGLE-CAR, FRONT END COLLISION. THE DRIVER-SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED BUT DID NOT INFLATE. HONDA CURRENTLY HAS A RECALL ONLY FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AND IS NOT AGREEING TO REPAIR/REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE DRIVER SIDE BAG.

AFTER A VERY HEAVY RAINSTORM, WE FOUND A COUPLE INCHES OF WATER IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR. SINCE THEN EVEN LIGHT RAINS ARE CAUSING WATER TO ACCUMULATE BOTH IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AND BACK PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR. IT IS DIFFICULT TO REMOVE THE WATER AND MOLD WILL CERTAINLY BE STARTING TO FORM SOON.

NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG NOT WORKING EVEN WHEN NO ONE IS IN THE SEAT. IN EVERY POSITION OF PASSENGER SEAT LIGHT STILL ON. SRS SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND HONDA WONT DO ANYTHING TO FIX IT OR TELL ME IF MY CAR IS OK TO DRIVE. CAN'T HAVE ANYONE IN MY CAR FOR REAR IF I GET HIT SOMEONE WILL GET REALLY HURT.
THE LOCK ON THE DRIVER SIDE STICKS AND I CAN'T GET MY KEY IN AND THE PASSENGER SIDE THE KEY GOES IN BUT WON'T TURN.
COMBINATION HEADLIGHT SWITCH WAS FAULTY. WHILE LOW BEAMS ARE ON, TOGGLING THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL ACTIVATES THE HIGH BEAM. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND PERFORMED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH RECALL HOPING IT WOULD GET FIXED BUT THE RECALL ONLY ADDRESSED THE WIRING HARNESS. THE PROBLEM PERSISTED AFTER THE RECALL. I GOOGLED IT AND IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM. TOLD THE DEALER ABOUT WHAT I FOUND ONLINE AND WAS CHARGING ME EXTRA FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND REPLACING THE PART. THEY TOLD ME THE RECALL DID NOT INCLUDE REPLACING COMBINATION SWITCH ITSELF. THEN, I BOUGHT AN OEM REPLACEMENT AND REPLACED IT MYSELF WHICH FIXED THE PROBLEM.
2008 HONDA FIT BASE MODEL: FLOOR OF BACK SEAT AND THE CARGO AREA BEHIND BACK SEAT IS WET, AND IS NOW GROWING MOLD. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW SO MUCH MOISTURE/WATER IS GETTING INTO THE CARPET. I AM ALSO CONCERNED THAT THE FLOORS WILL RUST AS WELL. SERIOUSLY, HONDA STEP UP AND ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE!! I WILL BE FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE AG'S OFFICE!
RAIN WATER IS LEAKING INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR FROM MULTIPLE ENTRY POINTS. ONE IDENTIFIED ENTRY POINT ARE CRACKS IN THE BONDING MATERIAL BETWEEN THE ROOF AND REAR UPPER SIDE PANELS THAT ALLOWS WATER INTO THE SPARE TIRE WELL AND REAR FLOORBOARDS. ADDITIONAL WATER IS ACCUMULATING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER FOOTWELL FROM AN UNDETERMINED LOCATION BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX/DASH. THIS HAS RESULTED IN MILDEW AND MOLD GROWTH IN THE INTERIOR CARPETING, MATTING AND FOAM. THIS IS A HEALTH RISK ESPECIALLY TO YOUNG CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH RESPIRATORY CONDITIONS.
RIGHT SIDE DRIVE SHAFT OF FRONT WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE FAILED UNDER ACCELERATION CAUSING VEHICLE TO STOP IN INTERSECTION. EXAMINATION OF FAILED DRIVE SHAFT SHOWS CLASSIC FAILURE UNDER TORSION. THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS COMPROMISED BY SEVERE CORROSION THAT REDUCED THE DIAMETER OF THE DRIVE BY APPROXIMATELY HALF THE ORIGINAL DIAMETER. SEVERE CORROSION IS LOCATED DIRECTLY UNDER THE RUBBER VIBRATION DAMPER INSTALLED ON THE DRIVE SHAFT THAT TRAPPED WATER AND SALT GREATLY ACCELERATING CORROSION. PORTIONS OF THE SHAFT NOT COVERED BY THE RUBBER VIBRATION DAMPER WERE NOT AFFECTED BY CORROSION ALLOWING A DIRECT COMPARISON TO THE ORIGINAL DIAMETER. CURRENTLY, I AM DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH A CORRODED LEFT DRIVE SHAFT ABOUT TO FAIL AT ANY TIME.
THE UPPER REAR PANEL (WHERE THERE IS A GROOVE WHERE THE FRAME COMES TOGETHER AND YOU COULD ATTACH A ROOF RACK) ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEPARATED A LITTLE AND WATER CAME INTO THE CAR. IT SOAKED THE TRUNK AND FLOOR BEHIND THE DRIVERS SEAT. THE WATER ALSO DAMAGED THE ABS SENSORS. I HAD TO REPLACE THE ABS SENSORS AND SORT OF CAULK THE GAP BETWEEN THE PANELS. I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE PROBLEM WHEN MY ABS LIGHT ON MY DASH WENT ON.

CAR HAD EXHIBITED ISSUES WITH SHIFTER CABLE IN THE PAST, BUT NO DEALERSHIP HAD SEEN OR INDICATED ANY ISSUES. CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO PARK, CAR THEN WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE AND FINALLY, WHEN THE CABLE SNAPPED, THE CAR WOULD NOT LEAVE NEUTRAL, MAKING THE CAR COMPLETELY UNUSABLE. HAD THIS OCCURRED WHILST DRIVING, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS HEALTH AND SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
