MY 2008 HONDA FIT STALLS EVERY TIME I PUT THE CLUTCH IN FOR THE FIRST 4-6 MINUTES. WHEN I PUT THE CLUTCH IN TO STOP IT STALLS AS SOON AS I ENGAGE CLUTCH. THIS HAPPENS AT SLOW SPEEDS AS WELL AS FASTER SPEEDS FOR THE FIRST SEVERAL MINUTES. I HAVE HAD SPARK PLUGS REPLACES, VALVE TIMING FIXED, NEW BATTERY, GAS TANK CLEANER RUN THROUGH, FLUIDS CHANGED. NOTHING HAS MEDE IT ANY DIFFERENT. IT WON'T SUSTAIN IDLE INITIALLY. STALLS IN TURNS IF CLUTCH PUT IN OR TOO LOW OF SPEED FOR SECOND IN A CORNER. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT 2 YEARS. AT ABOUT 150000

THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V260000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,425.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA FIT. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE HIGH BEAM LAMPS BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 179,000.
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
I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO SEVERAL MECHANICS, AUTO ZONE FOUND 9 CODES, MOST OF THEM WERE REGARDING MISFIRING IN THE ENGINE. WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY OR SITTING STILL THE ENGINE STUTTERS AND SOMETIMES STALLS. THE VALVES HAVE BEEN ADJUSTED , THE SPARK PLUGS AND IGNITION COIL PACKS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND THE CAR HAS HAD A TUNE UP. THE ENGINE STILL STALLS OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I FEEL THIS IS AN UNSAFE VEHICLE, HONDA SHOULD RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
CAR STOPPED DEAD (HAS HAPPENED 10-12 TIMES). COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD. TURNED OFF IGNITION. TURNED IT BACK ON AND CAR STARTED IMMEDIATELY. NO PROBLEM AT 35 MPH ON BACK COUNTRY ROAD. BIG PROBLEM IF I WERE PASSING ON 2 LANE ROAD. INTERNET CHECK SHOWS OTHERS HAVE HAD SAME PROBLEM WITH 2008 HONDA FIT.
ORANGE LIGHT COMES ON AND FREEZES THE POWER STEERING. VEHICLE IS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. THIS IS ESPECIALLY BAD WHEN THERE IS A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER, ESPECIALLY A CHANGE FROM WARM TO COLD. ONCE THE ENGINE IS WARMED UP, I CAN USUALLY GET THE WHEEL TO LOOSEN AND THE POWER STEERING TO ENGAGE IF I TURN IT OFF AND BACK ON. IF IT'S A HOT DAY AND I CRANK UP THE AC THE WHEEL WILL OFTEN JERK (EVEN AT HIGH SPEEDS) I RECOMMEND LOOKING INTO THIS. *JS
AFTER A DAY OF HEAVY RAINS, THE FLOOR PANELS IN MY HONDA FIT PUDDLE UP WITH WATER. THE REAR FLOOR PANELS (UNDERNEATH THE PASSENGER SEATS) IN PARTICULAR POOL WITH WATER AND HAVE STARTED TO RUST THE HINGES OF THE CAR FOLDAWAY SEAT MECHANISMS AS THE FABRIC LINERS GET SOAKED WITH WATER. AT 5AM WHILE HEADED TO WORK, I NOTICED THE HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT ON, DESPITE THE SWITCH BEING IN THE ON POSITION. THERE WAS A RECALL PREVIOUSLY FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. IT APPEARS THE FIX WAS ONLY TEMPORARY, AS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE HAS POPPED UP AGAIN. LOW-BEAMS DO NOT WORK, BUT HI-BEAMS AND FOGLIGHTS WORK. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE MILEAGE AT THE TIME OF FAILURE WAS 100,000.
CAR KEPT STALLING WHEN I WOULD TURN ON THE ENGINE AND ALSO WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET IT KEPT BUCKING AND REFUSED TO ACCELERATE. ANYWAY, GOT TUNE UP 09172014, COST $170.00. PLUS AN OIL CHANGE. PROBLEM STILL OCCURRING? HAD DIAGNOSIS COMPLETED 12/26/2014 HOWEVER, THEY COULDN'T FIND THE REASON FOR THE CAR TO DIE WHILE TURNING IT ON. CAR IS NOW 145K MILES. RECOMMENDED I REPLACE THE BATTERY. NOW AFTER PAYING THE $265.00 FOR BATTERY AND DIAG, THEY SAY TAKE IT TO THE DEALER MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH ENGINE. EVERY TIME I TURN ON THE CAR I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE ENGINE TO WARM UP SO IT WON'T DIE...ENGINE DOES NOT MAKE NOISE, BATTERY IS GOOD AND ELECTRICAL IS GOOD SO IDK WHAT'S GOING ON. GOING TO TAKE IT INTO DEALERSHIP AGAIN BUT FEELS IT'S A WASTE BECAUSE THEY PROBABLY WON'T FIND ANYTHING AND WILL MAKE ME DO COSTLY REPAIRS THAT WON'T FIX ANYTHING. TRANSMISSION BEGAN BINDING (RESISTANCE, AUDIBLE CLICK FROM SHIFT LINKAGE) SHIFTING INTO 1ST, 2ND, 3RD GEAR AT APPROX 60K MILES (JUST PRIOR TO 2ND FLUID CHANGE). INITIALLY RESOLVED PROBLEM. RECURRING AT 80K MILES. TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGED, CLUTCH FLUID CHANGED/BLED (NO CHANGE), CLUTCH HEIGHT AND ENGAGEMENT ADJUSTED (SLIGHT IMPROVEMENT), AND STILL NOT FULLY RESOLVED. AT THIS POINT IT IS LIKELY A PREMATURELY WORN CLUTCH, SYNCROMESH ISSUE, OR POSSIBLY SHIFT LINKAGE. BEST GUESS IS A LITTLE OF BOTH. FITFREAK.NET IS FULL OF SIMILAR TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND HONDA DOES NOT HAVE A REPUTATION FOR BUILDING RELIABLE TRANSMISSIONS. I WISH HONDA WOULD ADDRESS THEIR ENGINEERING DEFICIENCIES IN THIS AREA OR AT LEAST PROVIDE OUT OF WARRANTY COVERAGE TO OWNERS. WILL FOLLOW UP WITH DEALER, BUT EXPECTING NO COOPERATION. MAINTENANCE BACKGROUND: PROFESSIONAL A&P MECHANIC, ALL SERVICES PERFORMED ACCORDING TO HONDA'S SCHEDULE, ONLY GENUINE HONDA FLUIDS USED. VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY ORIGINAL EXCEPT FOR FRONT BRAKE ROTORS/PADS. NO ACCIDENTS, NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH CAR. *TR
AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AFTER A CRASH WHERE MY CAR HIT A MINI VAN IN FRONT OF ME. BRAKES WERE APPLIED, BUT NOT IN TIME TO AVOID THE ACCIDENT.
MY 2008 MANUAL HONDA FIT SPORT IS STALLING WHENEVER I PUSH IN THE CLUTCH AND COME TO A STOP. I HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR AROUND 5 OR 6 TIMES BEFORE THE ENGINE WILL STOP STALLING AT EVERY STOP. THE CAR STARTS FINE, BUT ONCE STARTED (AND IF NOT GIVEN TIME TO WARM UP), IT WILL STALL AND SHUT DOWN AT EVERY STOP. THE BATTERY LIGHT AND OIL LIGHT BOTH COME ON WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO TWO CERTIFIED HONDA DEALERS WHO CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY CAR. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING AND ANNOYING, AS THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUES FOR ALMOST A YEAR. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY CAR AND JUST WANT IT FIXED!! I ALSO DO NOT WANT TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE IGNITION JUST BECAUSE I HAVE TO START MY CAR AT EVERY STOP SIGN. *TR
MY HONDA FIT IS CURRENTLY SITTING OUTSIDE MY APARTMENT AND ONE DAY I WAS STUPID AND DIDN'T ROLL UP THE REAR WINDOWS. I HAD ABOUT 3 INCHES OF WATER IN THE CAR THE NEXT MORNING. I MOPPED ALL OF IT UP AND GOT SOME DAMPRID FROM HOME DEPOT TO TRY AND GET THE STAGNANT WATER THAT I COULDN'T GET TO. I'VE BEEN VERY VIGILANT ABOUT KEEPING THE WINDOWS UP SINCE THEN. I JUST CAME BACK FROM A WEEKEND AWAY WHERE I LEFT MY CAR AND DROVE MY WIFE'S CAR WITH HER TO SEE MY PARENTS FOR MOTHER'S DAY. I GOT BACK INTO MY CAR TODAY AND AS USUAL I CHECK TO SEE IF THERE IS WATER IN THE BACK. AND WITH THE WINDOWS UP ALL WEEKEND THE CARPETS ARE SOAKED. THIS IS A TESTED AND REAL PROBLEM THAT STARTED OUT AS HUMAN ERROR AND NOW IS A HEALTH HAZARD WITH MOLD. *TR
DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK CYLINDER HAS FAILED. HONDA DEALER STATES IT'LL BE OVER $300 TO FIX. SEARCH OF THE WEB SHOWS IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE AROUND 100K MILES FOR HONDA FITS. *TR
MY 2008 HONDA FIT SPORT BEGAN HAVING A "SURGING" ISSUE FROM THE 2ND WEEK AFTER I BOUGHT IT NEW IN 2008. I WOULD TAP THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN AND THE ENGINE WOULD SURGE. HITTING THE BRAKES A SECOND TIME USUALLY STOPPED IT BUT THROWING IT INTO NEUTRAL HELPED TOO. I REPORTED IT FREQUENTLY TO THE HONDA DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND SAID THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF IT. IT CONTINUED FOR 4 YEARS, AND THEN SEEMED TO STOP FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS. THIS PAST MARCH, IT STARTED AGAIN, AND I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED. THEN IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS COMING DOWN THE HILL I LIVE ON. THE CAR WAS IN 2ND GEAR (USING THE SHIFTER), AND I TAPPED THE BRAKES TO SLOW A BIT. THE ENGINE BEGAN ACCELERATING AND GOING FASTER. THE BRAKES DID NO GOOD; NEITHER DID THE EMERGENCY BRAKE; FINALLY, THE BRAKES GAVE OUT AND MY FOOT WAS FLAT ON THE FLOOR. I FINALLY PUT IT INTO PARK AND IT SLOWED DOWN TO A STOP. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND NO PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH I PUT IT INTO PARK WHILE MOVING, NOR COULD THEY FIND ANY REASON FOR THE ACCELERATION. AMERICAN HONDA IS NO HELP EITHER. THEY DID BUY THE CAR BACK, BUT HAVE SOLD IT AS A USED CAR, AND I FEAR FOR THE PERSON WHO PURCHASED IT. I'M SURE THEY DID NOT LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM FURTHER. ON YOUR WEBSITE, I FOUND SEVEN (7) SIMILAR REPORTS FOR THE 2008 FIT AND FIVE (5) MORE FOR THE 2009. OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM ON EDMUNDS.COM FOR SEVERAL YEARS, YET THE HONDA SALES MANAGER DID NOT WANT TO LOOK AT THE PRINTOUT I GAVE HIM. BOUGHT USED 2008 FIT IN JAN/2014. NOTED WATER IN DRIVER AND REAR PASSENGER FLOORS/CARPET AND DOORS FOLLOWING RAIN STORM. TOOK WET CAR TO SHEEHY FORD IN MECHANICSVILLE (WHERE I PURCHASED IT) WITHIN THE USED WARRANTY. WAS TOLD THEY "COULD NOT FIND CAUSE". NOTHING DONE. SINCE THEN AND TO DATE (10/30/2015), WATER CONTINUES TO ACCUMULATE IN THESE AREAS FOLLOWING RAINFALL. MUSTY/MOLD ODOR - WHERE IS THE RECALL ON THIS ISSUE?
I OWN A 2008 HONDA FIT (MANUAL TRANSMISSION). BEGINNING LAST WINTER (JANUARY 2014), ICE FORMS ON THE INTERIOR OF THE WINDOWS OF THE CAR (WINDSHIELD, DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE). THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT LIMITS/BLOCKS VISIBILITY. THE WINDSHIELD CLEARS AFTER RUNNING THE HEAT, BUT THE SIDE WINDOWS DO NOT. AT STOP SIGNS, WHEN IT IS BELOW FREEZING OUT, I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS IN ORDER TO SEE IF CARS ARE COMING. I HAVE NOT BROUGHT THIS IN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, BUT WILL CONSIDER DOING SO THIS WINTER. SHOULDN'T THERE BE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM? THANK YOU. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS WATER LEAKING INTO THE VEHICLE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE AIRBAGS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TREAD ON THE TIRES SEPARATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR FAILED ALLOWING WATER TO ENTER AND THAT THE WHEEL WAS STEEL AND NOT STANDARD FOR WARM CLIMATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
VEHICLE PARKED DURING RAIN EVENT, NOTED HEAVY LEAKAGE INTO SPARE TIRE WELL AND PASSENGER SIDE REAR FLOORBOARDS. IT APPEARS TO BE COMING FROM MULTIPLE SOURCES. WINDOWS HEAVILY FOGGED/ICED UP FROM MOISTURE IN CABIN. THIS HAPPENED TWICE THIS MONTH. SECURED DEALER APPOINTMENT, BUT WHEN I ARRIVED I WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE TO BRING IT IN WHEN THEIR LEAK SPECIALIST IS AT THE SHOP (WHY DOES HONDA HAVE A REGULARLY-SCHEDULED LEAK SPECIALIST??). I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR SINCE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR THAT LEAKED WATER. THE FIT NOW HAS RUSTY METAL PARTS, WET CARPET, AND POSSIBLY DAMAGED ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS FROM WATER INFILTRATION. *TR
THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST ACCELERATION ON THE HIGHWAY, WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHING. THE MECHANIC LATER FOUND FAULT WITH IGNITION COILS. ALL COILS WERE REPLACED, BUT THEY KEEP FAILING ONE AFTER ANOTHER, CREATING POTENTIAL DANGERS (E.G., LOSS OF POWER AND CRASH ON THE HIGHWAY). *TR
I STARTED MY CAR AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL. WHEN I WOULD TRY AND TURN THE STEERING WHEEL THE WHEEL INDICATOR LIGHT WOULD FLASH.I TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I UNPLUGGED THE BATTERY TO RESET THE ELECTRIC SYSTEMS AND IT STILL DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. AT THE MOMENT THE CAR IS UNDRIVABLE DUE TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
WHEN IT RAINS THE CAR LEAKS FROM THEIR DOORS ONTO THE FLOOR AND BACK SPARE TIRE AREA. THIS CAR HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR SWITCH BOARD DEFECTS WHICH POTENTIALLY CAN START A FIRE IN THE CAR. THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL FOR THE DOORS LEAKING INTO THE CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA FIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED AT START UP AND THE RPMS DECREASED. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE CODE; HOWEVER, THE DEALER REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS, THE AIR FILTER, AND THE IDLE SYSTEM WAS RESET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
WHEN I SAT AND IDLED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THIS HAPPENED TWICE. I HAD TO WORK VERY HARD TO PULL THE CAR OFF THE ROAD. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, THEN TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE POWER STEERING CAME BACK ON. I LOOKED ON LINE AND DISCOVERED NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. I RECEIVED THE NOTICE "WARRANTY EXTENSION: ELECTRIC POWER STEERING WITH DTC 32-09 OR 61-04" FROM HONDA IN OCTOBER 2014 THAT STATES, "ON SOME 2007-2008 FIT VEHICLES, THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MAY FEEL HEAVIER THAN NORMAL OR IS HARD TO TURN, PARTICULARLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS NOT MOVING. TO ENSURE YOUR CONFIDENCE IN OUR PRODUCT, AMERICAN HONDA IS EXTENDING THE WARRANTY OF THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING TO 10 YEARS FROM THE ORIGINAL DATE OF PURCHASE, OR 150,000 MILES, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST." I WAS TRAVEL LING AT APPROX 45MPH ON A SECONDARY ROAD, AND THE POWER STEERING UNIT SUDDENLY MALFUNCTIONED WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING. WHEN I BACKED OUT OF MY DAUGHTER'S DRIVEWAY, I TRIED TO SHIFT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FROM PARK TO REVERSE. IT CLICKED BUT WOULD NOT GO IN REVERSE AS I LIFTED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE. IT ROLLED FORWARD SLIGHTLY. I PUT IT BACK IN PARK AGAIN AND DECIDED TO TRY ONCE MORE. THERE WAS NO FLOOR MAT ON THE FLOOR. THERE WERE NO CARS COMING AT THIS POINT. I SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND REMOVED MY FOOT SLOWLY FROM THE BRAKE. THE CAR FLEW INTO THE STREET WITH RAPID ACCELERATION AND I COULDN'T BRAKE FOR AN ONCOMING CAR, WHICH I CRASHED INTO. THE FITS LEFT TAIL LIGHT AND BUMPER WERE HIT AT SUCH AN ANGLE AND IMPACT THAT MY CAR SPUN FORWARD AND THE TRANSMISSION MOVED INTO DRIVE. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE CAR AND IT WENT ZOOMING ACROSS MY DAUGHTER'S LAWN, ALMOST HITTING A HUGE PALM TREE AND A UTILITY POLE. IT THEN SPUN AROUND AND FINALLY STOPPED BEFORE IT ALMOST CRASHED INTO MY DAUGHTER'S HOUSE WHERE MY GRANDSON WAS WATCHING BEHIND THE WINDOW. THE OCCUPANTS OF THE OTHER CAR IN THE CRASH SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS AND WERE WILLING TO TESTIFY TO THAT FACT. THE POLICE REPORT LISTS MECHANICAL FAILURE AS THE CAUSE. THE HONDA FIT WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP AND REPAIRED AT A COST OF $4400. THE REPAIR PEOPLE WOULD NOT TEST DRIVE IT BECAUSE THEY WERE AFRAID TO. THEY DEMANDED THAT THE CAR BE TOWED TO THE HONDA DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER EXPERIENCED THE RAPID ACCELERATION PROBLEM TOO AS HE WAS MOVING THE CAR TO THE TOW TRUCK. MY 2008 HONDA FIT SOMETIMES EXPERIENCES LOSS OF BRAKING POWER WHEN IT HAS BEEN STARTED AFTER SITTING FOR MANY HOURS. THIS BEHAVIOR IS NOT ALWAYS PRESENT, BUT IS INTERMITTENT, PERHAPS OCCURRING ABOUT 50% OF THE TIME.
