I WAS ON A HIGHWAY DURING THE DAY. AIR CONDITION ON. CRUISE CONTROL OFF. I'VE BEEN DRIVING 45-60 MINUTES AT 60-70 MPH. ENGINE TEMP NEVER CHANGED. NO INDICATION THAT A FAILURE WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. THE VAN LOST SPEED AND FELT LIKE IT WAS STALLING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. TRIED TO PUMP THE GAS PEDAL BUT NO POWER. I STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND HAD TO PULL OVER THE SHOULDER. ENGINE WAS STILL ON AND I CAN STILL REV RPMS ON PARK. I WAITED A MIN OR TWO BEFORE I PUT IT INTO DRIVE BUT NOT ABLE TO GET POWER FROM THE ENGINE. I COULDN'T GET RPMS UP ON DRIVE. FASTEST I COULD GO WAS ABOUT 5 MPH WITH THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. THE VAN KEPT JERKING BACK AND FORTH WHILE I TRIED TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY. I CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER LOOKED AT THE CAR AFTER I EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED BUT NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. HE LOADED THE VAN ONTO HIS FLAT BED AND WENT TO HIS SERVICE OFFICE TO PICK UP ANOTHER CAR THAT WAS AHEAD OF US. HE EVENTUALLY HAD TO TAKE THE VAN OFF THE BED TO WAIT FOR ANOTHER TOW TRUCK. FROM THE TIME THE MY VAN HAD THE MECHANICAL FAILURE TO THE POINT WHERE THE VAN WAS TAKEN OFF THE TRUCK TO WAIT FOR ANOTHER TOW TRUCK ABOUT 3 1/2 HOURS PASSED. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER TOLD ME TO MOVE MY CAR CLOSER TO THEIR OFFICE ABOUT 20 YARDS AWAY SINCE MY VAN CAN STILL RUN. AT THAT TIME I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE SEEMS DIFFERENT. I TESTED IT DRIVING UP AND DOWN ROAD AND IT'S AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED TO THE ENGINE. THE CHECK ENGINE WAS STILL ON BUT THE VAN WAS RUNNING FINE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT BACK HOME WITH NO PROBLEM. I BROUGHT THE VAN TO A HONDA SERVICE CENTER THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND OUT WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE. ALL THEY WERE ABLE TO FIND OUT WAS THAT THERE WAS MULTIPLE MISFIRE CODES 71-1, 74-1, 75-1, 76-1 AND #1, #4, #5, #6 CYLINDERS. THEY SAID THERE'S NOTHING TO REPAIR BECAUSE THE VAN CHECKED OUT OKAY EXCEPT FOR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WHICH THEY RESET AND THE ERROR CODES THEY GOT FROM THE HONDA DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. SHE STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE, VIBRATE AND SQUEAK. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT A WARNING FOR A FEW MOMENTS AND THEN IT WOULD DECREASE IN SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. A SECOND DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS AN INTERNAL TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35554 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93000.
2003 HONDA ODYSSEY LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT. *TS THE CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND STRUCK A GUARD RAIL. *JB
DT: THE 2003, HONDA, ODYSSEY, CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER CONCERNING TRANSMISSION. THE RECALL WAS REPAIRED A YEAR AGO. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE TRANSMISSION JET LINE THAT WAS ADDED TO THE SECOND GEAR LOOSENED AND TRANSMISSION FLUID SPILLED EVERYWHERE. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING. NOW HONDA RECOMMENDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AT THE DASHBOARD. CONSUMER WAS NOT HAVING REPAIR DONE AND WAITED FOR A HONDA RESPONSE. THE OWNER NEVER HAD ANY OTHER TRANSMISSION WORK DONE BEFORE THE RECALL. OWNER HAD DOCUMENTATION TO PROVE THIS.*AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ACCELERATING OR DRIVING UPHILL, THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK ABNORMALLY WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATE WHEN THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING YET THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 16,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000.
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY, AND SHE SAID THAT BACK IN OCTOBER 2004 THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION. SHE TOOK VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER. NOW, SHE HAS 40,000 MILES ON VEHICLE, AND IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. THE VEHICLE LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING WITH THREE KIDS IN THE CAR. AND SHE HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER.*AK
PURCHASED 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY NEW IN 12/2002. HAD ISSUE WITH TROUBLE LIGHT WITHIN WEEKS OF PURCHASE. DEALER SAID IT WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP AT 25,000 MILES AND GOT WORSE. DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AT 35,000 MILES. THE TROUBLE LIGHT WOULD COME ON FROM TIME TO TIME AND DEALER WOULD TURN IT OFF. A FEW DAYS AGO, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT MOVE THE VEHICLE AND I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. DEALER SAYS I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I HAVE DONE NO TRAILER TOWING OR ANY OTHER UNUSUAL USES OF THE VEHICLE. ALL OF THE 157,000 MILES HAVE BEEN OVER THE ROAD OR IN TOWN. *TR
DT: HAD A RECALL FOR ADDING OIL JET COOLER FOR THE SECOND GEAR AREA. DON'T HAVE THE RECALL # STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD OR IN TOWN WHEN YOU GO TO ACCELORATE IT REVS UP, IT GOES TO 7,000 OR 8,000 RPMS. IT DOESN'T SHUT OFF. SOMETIMES IT WILL STAY IN 3RD GEAR. IT DOES DIFFERENT THINGS AT DIFFERENT TIMES. THIS OCCURED IN MARCH THE 1ST TIME. ITS DONE THIS ATLEAST FOUR TIMES SINCE THEN. ITS LIKE YOUR DRIVING ALONG LIKE IT GOES INTO NEUTRAL THEN IT SHIFTS OUT OF GEAR AND THE RPMS GO UP. CONTACTED THE DEALER THEY ARE GOING TO FIX IT FOR HALF PRICE. *AK
THE RADIO IN THE CONSUMER'S 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY SHORTED OUT SHORTLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. *NM THE CD PLAYER WAS REPLACED. THE CONSUMER DETECTED AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM FORM THE BEGINNING. THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRIC SLIDE DOORS, TAIL GATE DISPLAYED A CONSTANT CHIME WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, AS IF IT WAS NOT CLOSED. THE DEALERSHIP NEVER FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED HER MONEY BACK. *SC
MY VEHICLE, A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY, IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE IN SNOW/ICE, NO MATTER HOW LITTLE SNOW OR ICE. LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD, IT HAS ONLY 23,000 MILES AND ALL ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER EQUIPMENT AND TIRES. ALL REGULAR MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN DONE AT THE HONDA DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. VEHICLE LACKS TRACTION IN SNOW OR ICE, WHEELS SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL (WHETHER TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM IS ON OR OFF). VEHICLE CANNOT GO UP SLIGHTEST INCLINE. CANNOT STOP NORMALLY IN ANY KIND OF SNOW OR ICE, SKIDDING PAST DESTINATION (TAKING ME THROUGH A RED LIGHT WITH CHILDREN IN BACK SEATS). A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN / RISK. BOTH MANUFACTURER AND DEALER REFUSE TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM SAYING THAT ABS AND OTHER EQUIPMENT IS WORKING PROPERLY. DEALER ALLEGES PROBLEM IS TIRES. GIVEN LOW MILEAGE AND FACTORY ORIGINAL TIRES, THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE TO ME. NEITHER IS WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. THIS VEHICLE IS THE MOST UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT I'VE EVER HAD. TO FURTHER CLARIFY, I VERY MUCH LIKE HONDA - SO MUCH SO THAT I ALSO OWN A CIVIC. HOWEVER, MY CIVIC HANDLES SNOW EXTREMELY WELL, WHILE THE ODYSSEY IS VERY, VERY DANGEROUS. *JB
SUMMARY: WIRING PROBLEM THAT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL. THE WIRING INSIDE THE CABLE REEL ASSEMBLY IN THE STEERING COLUMN OF MY 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY CAME APART INSIDE. THIS WIRING INCLUDE SRS WIRING AS WELL AS HORN, LIGHTING, AND CRUISE CONTROL WIRING. UPON REMOVAL OF THIS PART ALL COPPER CONTACTS TO ALL WIRES WERE EXPOSED AND ANY WIRE COULD HAVE SHORTED TO ANY OTHER WIRE -- THIS COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL SRS/AIR BAG TO BE DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING. CONTACTS WERE CONSTANTLY BEING TUGGED AT WHENEVER THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED. BECAUSE THE CAR HAS 42,000 MILES AND HONDA WOULD NOT SAY THEY WOULD PAY TO FIX IT, I REPAIRED THIS MYSELF IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE HONDA SERVICE MANUAL. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE PART, AND HAVE SAVE THE PART IN A ZIP-LOCK BAG SO THAT IT CAN BE ANALYZED. *JB
I HAVE A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY WHICH IS EXPERIENCING NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. THE MOST SEVERE IS THAT IT SURGES WHEN IDLING (THIS OCCURS WHEN THE DRIVERS FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL). THIS HAS BEEN OCCURING FOR NUMEROUS MONTHS AND I HAVE RETURNED THE VAN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. IF THE VAN IS IN DRIVE IT SURGES FORWARD, IF IN REVERSE IT SURGES BACK. ON 2/9/05 IT SURGED BACKWARDS INTO A CONCRETE POLE AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE REAR BUMPER. I HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTING TO RESOLVE THE SURGING ISSUE WITH MY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS HONDA USA (AND TRYING TO GET THEM TO REPAIR THE BUMPER SINCE THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED THROUGH NO FAULT OF MINE) - AND AS OF THIS DATE HAVE NOT HAD ANY RESOLUTION. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS PEOPLE WITH 02 AND 03 HONDA ODYSSEYS HAVING THIS SAME SURGING ISSUE. I AM ALSO EXPERIENCING THE FOLLOWING ISSUES WITH THIS VAN AND HAVE RETURNED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR EACH: PRESET RADIO STATIONS RETURN TO FACTORY DEFAULT WITHOUT HUMAN INVENTION, PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE, FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG TURNS OFF WHEN THE SEAT BELT IS LATCHED, DRIVERS SEAT WILL NOT REMAIN IN POSITION.*AK
THE INTERIOR REAR VIEW MIRROR BROKE OFF A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE VEHICLES IN THE REAR. OWNER CONTACTED MANUFACTURER.*AK
HONDA ODYSSEY 2003, PROBLEM WITH POWER WINDOW ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. *BF AFTER THE KEY WAS REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION, THE POWER WINDOWS RETAINED A CHARGE FOR OVER 5 MINUTES AND REMAINED FULLY OPERATIONAL. *JB
1. THERE WERE NO EVENTS THAT LED TO THE FAILURE. 2. WHEN SLIGHTLY ACCELERATING BETWEEN THE SPEEDS OF 35-45 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS OUT OF GEAR, THE TACHOMETER WOULD SHOOT WAY UP, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD START SLOWING DOWN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON, EXCEPT ON ONE OCCASION RECENTLY. THIS PROBLEM DID NOT HAPPEN ON A DAILY BASIS. SOME DAYS IT WOULD HAPPEN ONCE, WHILE OTHER DAYS IT WOULD HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES. THIS ALMOST RESULTED IN BEING REAR ENDED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BY CARS AND BIG RIG (18-WHEELERS) TRUCKS THAT WERE FOLLOWING CLOSELY. MY WIFE WAS BECOMING INCREASINGLY AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE ISSUE WAS HAPPENING AT A HIGHER RATE (ON A DAILY BASIS) PRIOR TO THE TRANSMISSION BEING REPLACED. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE NUMBER OF OCCURRENCES IS TOO MANY TO REMEMBER. 3. AFTER TAKING TO THE DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, THE DEALER FINALLY REPLACED (FREE OF CHARGE) THE TRANSMISSION WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FINALLY RECORDED A TRANSMISSION CODE ERROR. *JB
DRIVER SIDE MANUAL DOOR LOCK WAFERS BROKE, NOW USING THE PASSENGER SIDE OR REAR DECK DOOR FOR LOCKING AND UNLOCKING. PROBLEM BEGAN 2 YEARS AFTER PURCHASE. *TR
PASSENGER SEATBELTS LOCK-UP VERY EASILY AND THE ONLY WAY TO RELEASE IS TO UNDUE THE BELT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN SINCE THE SEATBELTS SHOULD NOT BE UNDONE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS MOVING BUT THAT IS WHAT MUST BE DONE TO RELIEVE THE PRESSURE THE BELT PUTS ON THE PASSENGERS.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE ENGINE AND THE TCS LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE THEN COMPLETELY STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V176000 (POWERTRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THE REPAIR WAS MADE USING AN OIL JET KIT. THE CONTACT FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 89,000. UPDATED 02-04-08. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED WENT TO DEALERS ON APRIL 27, 2007 FOR REGULAR TRANSMISSION MAINTENANCE AND TUNE UP. THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER SHE WAS INFORMED THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEAD. THE CONSUMER STATED TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP DUE TO HEAT BUILD UP WHICH IS IDENTICAL TO HONDA'S 2004 RECALL. UPDATED 02/04/08 *TR
RECALL NHTSA 04V176000. HONDA PERFORMED THE OIL JET KIT "REPAIR" 8/5/2004. VEHICLE BEGAN SHIFTING "HARD"; RETURNED TO HONDA DLR 8/30/2004. TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED 11/2004. HONDA SAID "OUT OF WARRANTY", THERE'S NO COVERAGE ON TRANSMISSION. COMPLAINED TO HONDA CORPORATE THAT THIS WAS RECALLED PART AND WAS TO BE REPLACED. EVENTUALLY HONDA AREA REP SAID THEY'D COVER COST OF "REBUILT" TRANSMISSION, BUT I HAD TO PAY LABOR ($520.08). SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN STATED "WORK WILL BE DONE FREE OF CHARGE". REBUILT TRANSMISSION LEAKED & HAD TO BE REPLACED 1/6/2005. NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE TO OBTAIN REFUND OF LABOR CHARGES FROM HONDA ($520.08).*JB

I HAVE A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY EX THAT I BOUGHT IN AUG. 2003 FROM AUTO WAY HONDA, CLEARWATER, FLORIDA. THE VEHICLE HAD A RECALL EARLY THIS YEAR TO INSTALL A TRANSMISSION JET KIT. OCTOBER 2004, STARTED THE CAR UP BUT THE GEAR LIGHTS WOULD NOT LIGHT UP, THE SHIFTER WOULD MOVE UP AND DOWN BUT NO GEAR WOULD ENGAGE. SOMEONE SUGGESTED AT WORK THAT ROCKING THE CAR WOULD WORK AND IT DID. I THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT UNTILL 2 WEEKS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS TIME I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO TAMPA HONDA LAND, TAMPA FLORIDA. AFTER A WHOLE DAY AT THE DEALORSHIP, I WAS TOLD THAT EVEYTHING WAS FINE AND THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I HAD NO RECOURSE BUT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK. I AM AFRAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION MIGHT LOCK UP OR FAIL WHILE THE VAHICLE IS MOVING, WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS IN IT. THERE ARE NO SERVICE BULLETINS OR ANY INFO. AVAILABLE FROM HONDA ON THIS ISSUE ACCORDING TO THE DEALORSHIP. IF THIS PROBLEM PERSISTS I AM AFRAID I WILL HAVE TO LEMON THIS VEHICLE.*AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT WHEN STARTING VEHICLE IN THE MORNING, IT MADE A LOUD SOUND. IT GOT LOUDER WHEN HE WAS TRAVELING AT A LOW SPEED. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER , AND THEY COULD NOT FIND WHAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER NOTICED THAT ALL ELECTRICAL COMPLIANCES FAILED. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE FIFTEEN MINUTES LATER. DROVE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. CONSUMER INFORMED MECHANIC THAT THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE AND HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED. *AK
THE ACCELERATOR ON THE CAR BECAME STUCK AS I PROCEEDED ON A BUSY STREET GOING 60 MILES PER HOUR. I TRIED TO STOP THE CAR AND WAS UNABLE TO. THE BRAKES ONLY SLOWED THE CAR DOWN TO ABOUT 30 MILES AN HOUR. AS A RESULT, I WAS UNABLE TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT. FORTUNATELY, THAT DAY TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO EVENTUALLY STOP THE CAR. THE HONDA DEALER FOUND THE ACCELERATOR CABLE STRETCHED, CAUSING ENGINE TO STAY ACCELERATING BECAUSE CABLE WAS GETTING CAUGHT UP IN CABLE SLEEVE. ACCELERATOR CABLE WAS REPLACED.*AK

NHTSA RECALL 04V176000 CONCERNING AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. AFTER HAVING THE REVISIONS TO THE OIL COOLER RETURN LINE PERFORMED. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH VEHICLE STALLED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON.V EHICLE STARTED TO STALL. VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALER, AND CONSUMER HAS BEEN TOLD TO CHANGE THE GAS HE USES. *AK A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS RUN ON THE VEHICE WHICH FOUND CODES P0301, P0304, P0305. *NM

THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (RECALL #04V176000). THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION; HOWEVER, SHE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SHIPPING AND LABOR COST. SHE FELT THAT THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE, AND HAS REPORTED THIS TO THE AMERICAN HONDA ASSOCIATION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000. THE POWER TRAIN INFORMATION WAS UNKNOWN.

DEALER DENIED THE CLAIM, AND SAID THAT WHAT WAS BEING DONE WAS NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL, IT INVOLVED THE TRANSMISSION . THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE WHINING SOUND BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACED DUE TO INTERNAL FAILURE. I HAD MY CAR PARK AT WORK. AT 4:30 WHEN I WAS LEAVING WORK I WALKED TO MY CAR OPENED THE DRIVERS DOOR. I CLOSED THE DOOR AND HEARD A WINDOW SHATTER AND IT BLOW OUT OF THE CAR FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE WINDOW THAT SHATTERED WAS THE PASSANGER SIDED SLIDING DOOR. I CALL THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT GLASS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRENTY BY HONDA. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID THAT THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE LOOKED AT IT TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS A DEFECT. IT SOUNDS LIKE THEY ARE PLAYING THE BLAME GAME. AFTER LEAVING CHURCH, MY DAUGHTER BEGAN TO BACK OUT FROM A PARKING SPACE IN OUR 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. SHE TURNED TO LOOK BACK AS SHE SLOWLY PULLED OUT OF THE SPACE. UPON LEAVING THE PARKING SPACE SHE TURNED FORWARD TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. AT THAT POINT THE VAN CONTINUED MOVING BACKWARD. I YELLED TO MY DAUGHTER TO BRAKE TO WHICH SHE REPLIED, "I AM. I AM!" BUT AS SHE ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE VAN SEEMED TO LUNGE BACKWARD ON ITS OWN OVER A CURBED GRASSY MEDIAN AND BACK DOWN ONTO AN ADJACENT PARKING LOT AND INTO ANOTHER PARKED CAR. THE DISTANCE TRAVELLED WAS APPROXIMATELY 110 FEET. THERE IS SOME CONFUSION OVER WHETHER OR NOT MY DAUGHTER WAS SUCCESSFUL IN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE. HOWEVER, ONCE THE VAN CAME TO A STOP I LEANED OVER TO SHIFT IT INTO PARK, AND AT THAT MOMENT IT WAS IN DRIVE. REGARDLESS. WE BOTH HAD THE FEELING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF CONTROL. THE REPRESENTATIVE INDICATED THAT THE NOTICES HAD NOT BEEN MAIL YET BUT WOULD BE SENT IN MAY. AS OF THE MIDDLE OF JUNE THE CONSUMER HAD NOT RECEIVED THE NOTICE. I WENT TO THE DOCTOR AND AFTER X-RAYING IT, FOUND OUT THAT IT IS BROKEN! I HAVE BEEN IN SEVERE PAIN ALL DAY. AND TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE MY HUSBAND, WHO IS SERVING ON THE U.S.S BAATTON , CANNOT HELP ME IN A TIME OF TRANSITION. I AM APPALLED THAT THESE BENCH SEATS HAVE NO KIND OF SAFETY MECHANISM TO KEEP THEM FROM FALLING FULL FORCE, INJURING THE PEOPLE.
