IT WAS HARD FOR THE CONSUMER TO CLOSE THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR. DOOR SENSOR MADE A LOUD BEEPING NOISE UNTIL THE DOOR WAS CLOSED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE DRIVER DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE WHICH CAUSED A COLLISION WITH TWO VEHICLES THAT WERE STOPPED AHEAD. THE DRIVER HAD TO FORCE THE VEHICLE INTO PARK TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE FRONT AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY AND THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED TOTALED. *JB *SC
MY 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY TRANSMISSION SUFFERED SUDDEN CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE IN TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN ANY FURTHER AND WAS LEFT IN A DANGEROUS SPOT AND REQUIRED TOWING TO THE HONDA DEALER.THE VEHICLE COULD BE CRANKED AND PLACED IN GEAR BUT THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT ENGAGE AND THE ENGINE REVS THE SAME IN BOTH PARK AND IN DRIVE. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM UNTIL SOME ERRATIC REVS APPEARED ON THE TACH GOING FROM NORMAL CRUISING REVS OF ~2K UP TO 5K A COUPLE OF MINUTES PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE ONLY OTHER INDICATION WAS THE "CHECK ENGINE " LIGHT WHICH ACCORDING TO THE MANUAL INDICATES AN EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM...NOT A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENED FRIDAY NIGHT AND THE DEALER CALLED SAT MORNING AND SAID THE TRANSMISSION REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET I SEE MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR 2003 ODYSSEY TRANSMISSION AND IN FACT THEIR HAS BEEN CLASS ACTION SUIT ON PRIOR YEAR AND MAYBE ANOTHER ONE THAT COVERS 2003. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND NOT DOING ANYTHING. THERE WAS A RECALL AND I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN BUT THE CHANGES THEY MADE WERE NOT EFFECTIVE. ADDITIONALLY, I UNDERSTAND THAT THE FILTER IS INTERNAL AND CANNOT BE CLEANED OR CHANGED. *TR

SUDDEN ACCELERATION, UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED ON AN INCLINE WITH THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS ON ITS OWN AND CRASHED INTO A LAMP POST CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY SEVEN DIFFERENT TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE AUTOMATIC PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR OPENED WHILE THE CHILD WAS ENTERING INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE DOOR CLOSED ON CHILD'S HEAD, AND CHILD SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES. THE MOTHER DROVE HIM TO THE HOSPITAL. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED OR SOLVED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONSUMER WAS APPROACHING HEAVY TRAFFIC WHEN SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES, THEY LOCKED UP. THE CONSUMER REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT HER, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE POLICE ARRIVED AND FILED A REPORT. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER WAS INFORMED OF THE PROBLEM. *PH *CB *JB
I OWN A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN WITH MANUAL SIDE DOORS. WHEN IT IS DAMPED, THE DOORS FORM A SUCTION AND CANNOT EASILY BE OPENED. THEY CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE, AND ONLY AFTER "YANKING" ON THEM NUMEROUS TIMES, THEY CAN BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS AND THEIR RECOMMENDATION IS LUBING THE SEALS. I HAVE HAD THIS DONE TWICE AND IT HAS NOT WORKED EITHER TIME. ONE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD TO BE ABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM IN ORDER TO FIX IT. SINCE THIS ONLY OCCURS UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS, AND NOT REGULARLY, THAT WOULD BE NEAR IMPOSSIBLE. AFTER NOT RECEIVING ANY SATISFACTION FROM MY DEALERSHIP, I DID CONTACT HONDA DIRECTLY. THEY THEN CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP AND THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED IMMEDIATELY. THEY REPLACED THE WEATHERSTRIPPING AND SUBSEALS. SO FAR, I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS (THIS WAS DONE LESS THAN A WEEK AGO). MY CONCERN IS THAT THE DEALERSHIPS WILL NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM RIGHT AWAY. THE BUYER HAS TO GO THROUGH SEVERAL STEPS FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. I HAD TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE COMPANY. THE DEALERSHIPS ONLY RECOMMENDED "LUBING" THE DOORS WHICH, AT BEST, IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX TO A POTENTIAL DANGEROUS PROBLEM. (THE INCIDENT DATE I CHOSE BELOW IS THE LAST DATE OF THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM BEGAN MARCH 2003). *LA
COMPLAINT ANALYST WROTE TO DETERMINE ANY LAWS VIOLATED BY MANUFACTURER, AS WRITTEN BY THE CONSUMER. AS STATED IN A COUPLE OF ACCIDENTS, THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD WHEN SHIFTED INTO GEAR TO REVERSE. *LA THE CONSUMER MADE A U TURN, STOPPED, PLACED THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE, WHEN SUDDENLY THE VAN SURGED FAST INTO CONCRETE STAIRS OF A HOUSE. *SC *JB
ON FEBRUARY 11/2003 WHILE EXITING THE SCHOOL DRIVE WAY, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. THE DRIVER TAPPED THE BRAKE AND THE ENGINE SPEED INCREASE EVEN MORE. ON NOVEMBER 9/2003 ONCE AGAIN THE SAME SUDDEN ACCELERATION. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WENT AIRBORNE AND LANDED ON THE NEIGHBORHOOD FENCE. THERE WERE NO INJURES. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES BUT THE PROBLEM HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED. *NLM *SC *JB
DT: A HONDA 2003, GETS VERY BAD GAS FUMES IN THE CAR WHEN STARTING THE CAR. HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 2 YEARS. HE HAS 4 SMALL CHILDREN. *AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING SUDDEN AND UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY HAVE HAD THIRTY-TWO SEPARATE OCCASION OF THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURRED WHEN THEY WERE COMING TO A STOP AND TRAVELING NO FASTER THAN 5 MPH. THE ENGINE RPMS WOULD THEN INCREASE AND THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR SIX WEEKS. THE DEALER HAD ELIMINATED WEAR AND POSSIBLE ELECTRONIC CAUSES FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED A REGIONAL INSPECTOR FOR THE MANUFACTURER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AS WELL AND ADVISED THAT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A BUNCHED UP SECONDARY FLOOR MAT THAT CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT DOES NOT FEEL THE FLOOR MAT CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 118,900. UPDATED 07/27/11*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE GAS PEDAL ONLY RETURNED TO THE UPRIGHT POSITION WHEN THE THEN ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND SOMETIMES IT REQUIRED TWO OR THREE CYCLES TO GET THE GAS PEDAL TO RETURN. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 45 - 60 MPH, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTED, EVEN WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE DEALERSHIP TEST DROVE THE VAN FOR 8 MILES, AND CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, BUT NO REPAIRS WERE DONE. *AK ON OCCASION THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED SUDDEN HESITATION WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED 45 MPH. *SC *JB
AUTOMATIC DOORS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE ALARM WENT OFF. CONSUMER PULLED OFF OF THE ROAD, OPENED AND SHUT THE DOORS FOR THE ALARM TO SHUT DOWN. VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PREVIOUSLY FOR DOOR DEFECTS. *AK
THE TRUCK WAS PARKED INSIDE A PARKING LOT WITHOUT PHYSICAL CONTACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW SHATTERED. POLICE CAME FOR THE INVESTIGATION. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *PH
STEERING PULLING TO THE LEFT. URNED OUT TO BE LOOSE TIE RODS ON BRAND NEW 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. ONLY 900 MILES ON IT. *AK
I HAD LEASED A BRAND NEW, 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY IN SEPTEMBER, 2003 FROM BAYRIDGE HONDA IN BROOKLYN, NY. I PICKED UP THE CAR ON SEPTEMBER 6, 2003. ON SEPTEMBER 9, I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER BECAUSE IT WAS SURGING, ON THE VERGE OF STALLING. THEY KEPT THE VEHICLE AND AT THAT TIME RESET THE COMPUTER, I BELIEVE. I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE THE SAME DAY AFTER BEING TOLD THAT IT WAS FIXED. ABOUT A MONTH LATER, THE CAR STALLED OUT WHILE I WAS WAITING ON A RED LIGHT, AND THEN STARTED STALLING ON STOP SIGNS AND WHILE MAKING TURNS. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER ON OCTOBER 23, 2003. ONCE AGAIN, I PICKED UP THE CAR THE SAME DAY AFTER THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS FIXED. THE VERY NEXT DAY, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN WHERE THE CAR CONTINUED TO STALL IN THE SAME SITUATIONS. I CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT BACK, WHICH I DID ON OCTOBER 25, 2003. YET AGAIN THEY HAD ME PICK UP THE CAR TELLING ME IT WAS FIXED. ABOUT A MONTH LATER, THE STALLING STARTED AGAIN, AND THIS TIME A LOT MORE OFTEN. I BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER ON DECEMBER 15, 2003 AND IT HAS BEEN THERE SINCE THEN - FOR 3 1/2 WEEKS. I HAD CALLED HONDA OF AMERICA TRYING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. THEIR ANSWER IS THAT THE DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, WHICH DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT THE CAR STALLED MANY TIMES WHEN I DROVE IT. I FEEL VERY UNCOMFORTABLE PICKING UP MY CAR AS IT IS RIGHT NOW, AS NOTHING WAS DONE ON IT BY THE DEALER. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE CAR THAT STALLS IN TRAFFIC, WHILE WAITING ON TRAFFIC LIGHTS, ETC. I HAD TRIED RESOLVING THIS WITH THE DELEARSHIP, AS WELL AS WITH HONDA OF AMERICA BUT ALMOST 4 WEEKS THE ONLY THING THEY ARE TELLING ME IS THAT THEY CANNOT DIPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND WILL CONTINUE DRIVING MY CAR MEANWHILE. NEW 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L VAN CAUGHT FIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE FIRE STARTED IN THE STEREO/CD PLAYER. EARLIER IN THE DAY, THE RADIO STOPPED WORKING, SHUT OFF AND WOULD NOT TURN ON. LATER THAT EVENING AS WE WERE DRIVING, WE SMELLED AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. A FEW MINUTES LATER, THE CD PLAYER BURST INTO FLAMES. THE FIRE BEGAN INSIDE THE CD SLOT. BLUE, YELLOW AND ORANGE FLAMES WERE SOON JETTING OUT OF THE PLAYER. AS WE PULLED OFF AND EVACUATED THE CAR, THE FLAMES WERE LICKING UP THE DASHBOARD, WITHIN MINUTES TOUCHING THE WINDSHIELD. WHILE DRIVING, THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO DISENGAGE, THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO STOP OR SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. THE CONSUMER SHUT OFF THE IGNITION AND CRUISED TO THE SHOULDER. *AK *JB
I HAVE A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH THE TOWING PACKAGE. THE PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING IS THAT MY REAR SUSPENSION CANNOT SUPPORT THE TONGUE WEIGHT OF MY POP UP TRAILER. ALSO THERE IS NO MANUFACTURER THAT MAKES HEAVY DUTY SHOCKS FOR THE ODYSSEY. MY MANUAL SAYS THAT THE ODYSSEY CAN TOW UP TO 3500 LBS. MY POP UP IS ONLY 2000LBS. EVEN WITH A WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION HITCH MY ODYSSEY STILL DIPS DOWN IN THE REAR. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN DRIVING. HONDA SHOULD OFFER AS PART OF THE TOWING PACKAGE HEAVY DUTY SUSPENSION. I'VE CHECK THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT MY COMPLAINT IS A COMMON COMPLAINT AMONG PEOPLE WHO TOW TRAILERS WITH THE HONDA ODYSSEY. WHEN THE BACK END DIPS DOWN IT TAKES WEIGHT OFF THE FRONT WHEELS WHICH IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD. I BELEIVE THAT HONDA SHOULD BE FORCE DTO OFFER HEAVY DUTY SUSPENSION TO THOSE PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE TOWING PACKAGE. *AK

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED: AFTER MAKING A TURN ON A STEEP HILL MY WIFE PROCEEDED DOWN THE HILL. WHILE GOING DOWN THE HILL THE BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED TO OPERATE AND THE FOLLOWING LIGHTS ILLUMINATE ON THE DASH , BATTERY, OIL, DOOR OPEN WARNING LIGHTS. THE ENGINE WAS STILL ON AND SHE HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE THAT THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT GOING FAST AND WE WERE ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. MY WIFE WAS EXTREMELY FRIGHTENED AND UPSET BY THE INCIDENT. SHE WAS ALMOST IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT! WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO BEAVERTON HONDA WHO ADVISES US THUS FAR THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEMS. YOU CAN SURELY UNDERSTAND OUR CONCERNS WITH THIS VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY IF THERE APPEARS TO BE NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. RECALL#03V014000 CONCERNING FUEL TANK FAILURE. NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE FOR REPAIRS. APPLE TREE HONDA 828-684-4400. CONTACTED DEALER ON JULY-11-2003. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. AT 13,000 MILES, THE VEHICLE WOULD DOWNSHIFT ON ITS OWN. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED AS IF IT WOULD STALL. THE CONTACT HAD TO SLIGHTLY DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN ORDER TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM STOPPING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY STORED CODES OR ANY FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER REGARDING A RECALL FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V176000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION) THAT HE DISCOVERED ONLINE. THE DEALER REMOVED THE COVER FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND INSPECTED THE SECOND GEAR. THEY NOTICED NO SIGNS OF HEAT BUILD UP DURING THE PHOTOGRAPHIC INSPECTION, THEREFORE THEY INSTALLED THE OIL JET KIT. THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. HE RETURNED TO THE DEALER AT 65,000 MILES FOR THE SAME FAILURE, HOWEVER, THEY WERE STILL UNABLE TO FIND ANY TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT 74,000 MILES FOR HESITATION AND SHIFTING PARTS. THE DEALER INSTALLED A PARKING SWITCH, BUT THE FAILURE STILL PERSISTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 97,300 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
REAR SEAT BELTS LOCK FOR NO REASON. PASSENGERS MUST UNBUCKLE THE SEAT BELT TO UNLOCK THE MECHANISM. HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 50 TIMES IN AN 8 MONTH PERIOD SINCE PURCHASE OF THE NEW 2003 HONDA ODYSSEY. MY CONCERN IS NOT ONLY INCONVENIENCE BUT THE SAFETY ISSUE OF HAVING TO UNBUCKLE THE SEAT BELT DURING DRIVING. HAPPENS MOSTLY ON THE FREEWAY AT STEADY SPEEDS. HONDA DEALER INSISTS THERE IS NO PROBLEM, BUT A SERVICE EMPLOYEE HAD TOLD ME WE ARE NOT THE FIRST TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. *PH
VEHICLE WOULD 'NT SHIFT SMOOTHLY FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. VEHICLE WILL HESITATED TO ACCELERATE, THEN SURGED INTO GEAR. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT WILL AUTOMATICALLY INSTALL THE OIL KIT INSTEAD OF INSPECTING THE TRANSMISSION FIRST AS INDICATED IN RECALL 04V176000.*AK *TC

RIGHT REAR TIRE REMOVED, REPAIRED, AND REPLACED ACCORDING TO MANUAL. EXACTLY 3 WEEKS LATER, IN A SLOW SPEED, ACCELERATING LEFT-HAND TURN, ALL 5 LUG BOLTS SHEERED OFF AT ONCE, CAUSING WHEEL TO COME OFF OF VEHICLE, AND VEHICLE AXLE/ROTOR TO HIT GROUND, DAMAGING COMPONENTS. *JB

2003 HONDA ODYSSEY (3 WEEKS OLD): WHEN I TOOK OFF THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT, THE CLOTH BELT FOLDED OVER ON ITSELF AND GOT JAMMED IN THE PLASTIC RETRACTOR. THE SEAT BELT COULD NOT BE PULLED OUT, SO IT COULD NOT BE USED AT ALL. I HAD TO USE A PAIR OF PLIERS TO PRY IT LOOSE.*JB
WHILE DRIVING TRANSMISSION GETS INTO SECOND GEAR WHILE DRIVING AT 40-45 MPH. THEN, TRANSMISSION DOES NOT PICK UP SPEED. RECEIVED A RECALL. HOWEVER, THE SITUATION HAD NOT BEEN RESOLVED. *AK
TAKES 3 TRIES TO START CAR(10-15 SECONDS CRANK EACH TIME). ENGINE TURNS OVER BUT DOES NOT WANT TO START. AFTER 3RD TRY, ENGINE STARTS BUT IS VERY ROUGH FOR ABOUT 15-20 SECONDS. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD AND IT STARTS ON FIRST TIME, IT IDLES ROUGHLY LIKE THE ENGINE IS MISFIRING. CAR IS BRAND NEW. *JB
ON 03/22/03 WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, BLACK SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE TAIL PIPE. THE CONSUMER DROVE TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED 3 OF THE FUEL INJECTORS WERE "WIDE OPEN" AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. *JB
DRIVER AND PASSENGER SLIDING REAR DOORS LATCH INCONSISTENTLY
THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO PROPERLY RESTRAIN MY CHILD, DUE TO THE WAY IT WAS DESIGNED. MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE SECOND ROW OF THE MINIVAN WITH THE RIGHT-SIDE CAPTAINS CHAIR MOVED OVER TO CONFIGURE THE ROW INTO A BENCH. THE SEAT BELT, HOWEVER WAS STILL ATTACHED OVER BY THE DOOR WITH NO OTHER ATTACHMENT AVAILABLE, SO THERE IS A GAP BETWEEN THE SEAT AND WHERE THE SEAT BELT IS ATTACHED. MY DAUGHTER WAS PROPERLY BUCKLED IN, AND SHE IS 105 LBS. AND ALMOST 5 FEET TALL. HOWEVER, WHEN WE WERE HIT FROM THE SIDE, SHE SLID RIGHT OFF THE SEAT AND ONTO THE FLOOR BETWEEN THE SEAT AND THE DOOR WITH THE BUCKLE STILL AROUND HER. IN ADDITION, MY SEAT BELT (DRIVER'S) FAILED TO RESTRAIN ME. IT PULLED ALL THE WAY OUT. *JB

THIS HAPPENS WHEN IT IS SHIFTING AT THE SPEED OF 45 MPH. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WAS "NORMAL OPERATION" THAT THE VEHICLE KNOWS WHEN I NEED TO SLOW DOWN MORE RAPIDLY THEN DOWNSHIFTS FOR ME --- THE DRIVER. I DO NOT BELIEVE AN AUTOMOBILE CAN KNOW WHEN I NEED TO SLOW MORE RAPIDLY. IT IS UNCOMFORTABLE TO "LURCH" FORWARD DUE TO AN EXCESSIVE DOWNSHIFT WHEN I AM BRAKING. WHILE I WAS AT THE DEALER DISCUSSING MY PROBLEM, THE WOMAN NEXT TO ME- WHO ALSO HAS A 2003 ODESSY - WAS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. SHE WAS ALSO TOLD THIS IS A "NORMAL OPERATION" OF THE CAR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS SHOULD ONLY HAPPEN WHILE GOING DOWN A HILL/INCLINE. HOWEVER, THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH OF ROAD. I AM AFRAID THIS IS A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION AND WILL "SLIP" OR "LURCH" AND CAUSE SERIOUS HARM OR DEATH. THE HONDA DEALER HAS TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN/WILL DO ABOUT THIS ISSUE. HOW CAN I FIND OUT IF INDEED MY TRANSMISSION IS HAVING PROBLEMS?? I DO NOT KNOW WHERE TO GO FOR HELP OR TO FIND IF ANY TESTING HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE ON THIS PROBLEM. GAS FUMES LEAKED THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. GAS SMELL BECAME OVERWHELMING WHEN VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN FOR AWHILE WITH ALL WINDOWS DOWN. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER IN REFERENCE TO A DEFECTIVE GAS TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE GAS TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. EIGHT MONTHS LATER THE CONSUMER NOTICED AN OVERWHELMING ODOR OF GASOLINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE GAS TANK GASKET WAS DEFECTIVE. THE GASKET FILLED WITH GASOLINE AND SPLASHED INTO THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT OF THE DEFECTIVE THE ENTIRE FAMILY WAS ILL FROM INHALING THE FUMES. *PH *NM
