SOLD AN UNSAFE RECALL NEW VEHICLE BASED ON HONDA TSB. *BF THE CONSUMER WAS NOT INFORMED OF RECALL 04V-176 UNTIL AFTER HE WAS ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATED WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS PRESSED. THE CONSUMER REQUEST A FULL REFUND. *NM
SLIDING DOOR ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OPENS BY ITS BY ITSELF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STANDING STILL. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED.*AK THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. AFTER THE 4TH TRY THE CONSUMER GOT THE DOOR TO CLOSE. PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR OPENED. THE CONSUMER OPENED THE BACK DOOR AND THE SLIDING DOOR CLOSED BY ITSELF. *TC
I HAVE BROUGHT MY HONDA ODYSSEY TO THE DEALER AT LEAST THREE TIMES SINCE PURCHASED LESS THAN ONE YEAR AGO. EACH TIME I ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. I TOLD THEM IT MADE A "CLUNK" NOISE AT START UP. IT WAS SO LOUD, I THOUGHT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. THE FIRST TIME, THEY TOLD ME THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. THE SECOND TIME, THEY TOLD ME IT WAS "NORMAL" AND GAVE ME AN INTERNAL COPY OF "A/C 'CLUNLK' NOISE ON YEARS 1999-2001" MECHANICAL PROBLEM SHEET. HELLO!!! I BOUGHT A 2004 MODEL ODYSSEY!!. I CALLED, COMPLAINED, AND GOT NOWHERE. I RECIEVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE, AND ASKED THEM AGAIN TO LOOK AT THE A/C "CLUNK" NOISE. I TOLD THEM IT WAS ALSO HAPPING WHEN THE HEATER WAS ON, NOT JUST THE A/C. OF COURSE, THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM. IN THE 1999-2001 ODYSSEY MODEL THEY HAD A "CLUNK" NOISE PROBLEM ACKNOWLEDGED BY YOU. I DO NOT SEE IT FOR YEARS 2003-04. HOWEVER, I DO HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND FEEL I HAVE BEEN SOLD A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. ON ONE ACCOUNT, THEY DID ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM, BUT TRIED TO CONVINCE ME IT WAS A "DEFECT" FROM 1999-2001. I FIND THIS UNEXCEPTABLE.*AK
THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT ABLE TO GIVE THE CONSUMER AN APPOINTMENT TOO HAVE THE AUTO TRANSMISSION RECALL 04V176000 PERFORMED WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME FRAME. THE FIRST AVAILABLE DATE IS DEC 15 2004. *LA *SC *JB
THE STRUTS OR HATCH PISTONS FAILED ON OUR 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY AND THE HATCH WEIGHING WELL OVER 100 POUNDS CAME DOWN ON MY HEAD FULL FORCE. THIS DEFECT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. SERIOUS INJURY WILL OCCUR WITH HEAD AND NECK INJURY AND IF A SMALLER CHILD IN THE PATH MAYBE WORSE. HONDA IS CHARGING US TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I STRONGLY SUGGEST THIS BE A SUBJECT FOR A RECALL. THEY SHOULD NOT FAIL AFTER TWO YEARS. *JB
THEIR IS VIBRATION IN THE DRIVER SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR. AT 60 MPH, THE MIRROR, FRONT SEATS VIBRATES. FIRST TIME I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HONDA DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID THE WHEEL ALINGNMENT WAS OUT, SECOND TIME THEY SAID THE MIRROR IS BAD AND REPLACED IT. THIRD TIME THEY SAID THEY SEE THE VIBRATIONS BUT CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY SAID THEY TEST DROVE 3 OTHER VEHICLES WITH SIMILAR MILAGE (13.5 K) AND FOUND THAT THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I CALLED HONDA AND THEY SAID THAT THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS.*AK
2004 HONDA ODYSSEY LURCHED BACKWARDS WHILE IN IDLE THEN ACCELERATED OUT OF THE GARAGE.*MR THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WHO TOLD THE CONSUMER THEIR BEST GUESS WAS THAT THE GEAR WAS STUCK BETWEEN PARK AND REVERSE AND EVENTUALLY POPPED INTO REVERSE. *JB
WHILE IDLING IN THE DRIVEWAY VEHICLE ACCELERATED BACKWARDS. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE COLLIDED INTO THE GARAGE WITH CHILDREN ABOARD. NO INJURIES REPORTED. *AK THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *SC
2004 HONDA ODYSSEY MANUFACTURING DEFECT.*MR THE VEHICLE WAS ON AND THE CONSUMER HAD TO CHILDREN INSIDE IT. THE CONSUMER PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE TO RETRIEVED SOMETHING. WHEN SHE RETURNED AND ATTEMPTED TO GET INTO HER CAR IT BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. THE VEHICLE CROSSED THE ROAD BEFORE IT CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP ON THE CURD. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND EXPLAINED THAT THE GEARS MAY HAVE SOMEHOW BECOME STUCK BETWEEN PARK AND REVERSE AND THEN POPPED INTO REVERSE. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER REQUESTING A NEW VEHICLE AND AN INVESTIGATION. *NM
MY DAUGHTER OPENED THE CAR DOOR AND , NOT REALIZING THIS, I PUSHED THE KEYLESS ENTRY/DOOR OPEN BUTTON. THESE ACTIONS MADE THE DOOR STOP WITH A SMALL OPENING. MY DAUGHTER THEN TRIED TO MAUNALLY OPEN THE DOOR AT THE SAME TIME I PUSHED THE BUTTON AGAIN. THIS RESULTED IN HER HAND BEING CRUSHED/CAUGHT AND SHUT IN THE VAN DOOR. I RAN AND MAUNALLY OPENED THE DOOR TO SEE HER HAND CRUSHED. THIS ALL HAPPEND IN A MATTER OF SECONDS. WE ICED IT AND UPON HER PEDIATRICIANS REQUEST,TOOK HER TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM FOR X-RAYS. IT TURNED OUT THAT HER HAND WAS NOT BROKEN BUT BRIUISED BADLY. THIS VAN IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A SAFETY FEATURE TO NOT CRUSH PEOPLE/CHILDREN IN THE DOOR! *AK
PROBLEMS WITH DOOR ON 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY.*MR THE DOOR WAS AJAR 6 INCHES AND WOULD NOT OPEN NOR CLOSE ALL THE WAY. THE CLOSE BUTTON WAS PRESSED BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. THE DOOR HANDLE WAS PULLED AND THE DOOR STARTED TO CLOSE AND CRUSHED THE TIP OF THE CONSUMER'S FINGER FRACTURING IT. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BUT NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. *NM
MY VAN CONTINUES TO STALL. THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS REPLACED IN LATE SEPTEMBER, BUT THE VAN CONTINUES TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IT WILL START, RUN FOR 1-3 SECONDS, AND SHUT DOWN. IT WILL TAKE ANYWHERE FROM ONE TRY ONE HOUR WORTH OF TRIES TO GET IT TO START UP AGAIN. THE VAN HAS LEFT MY FAMILY STRANDED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. I HAVE CONTACTED THE HONDA DEALER, AND THEY TELL ME THIS IS NORMAL. I DON'T BELIEVE A VEHICLE WITH 7000 MILES NORMALLY DOES NOT START, AND CAN TAKE UP TO ONE HOUR TO START. THEY ALSO HAVE TOLD ME THAT I AM FLOODING THE VEHICLE-EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT TOUCHING THE FOOTFEET AND HAVE ALWAYS DRIVEN A FUEL INJECTED VEHICLE. MY HUSBAND AND I ARE TO THE POINT THAT WE DO NOT EVEN WANT THE VEHICLE, BUT OUR DEALER DOES NOT SEEM TO TAKE US SERIOUSLY. I READ A COMPLAINT THAT A CUSTOMER FILED STATING METAL WAS SENT THROUGHOUT HER VEHICLES FUEL LINES. HOW CAN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CHECK TO SEE IF THIS IS WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CONTINUALLY TELLS ME THEY CAN DO NOTHING UNLESS THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THIS HAS YET TO HAPPEN. I AM VERY TIRED OF BEING STRANDED BY MY BRAND NEW VEHICLE. *AK
AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE. THEN, AFTER SEVERAL HOURS THE VEHICLE STARTED AS IF NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE TWICE BUT, COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.*AK
THE VEHICLE'S AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR SENSOR FAILED. AS A RESULT A REAR PASSENGER'S HAND WAS SHUT IN THE DOOR. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NM
BOTH OF MY POWER SLIDING PASSENGER DOORS ON MY 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY ARE BROKEN. THERE IS A BUTTON TO SHUT IT OFF AND MANUALLY USE THE DOORS BUT IT DOES NOT WORK. THE DOORS OPEN ON THEIR OWN AND NEVER CLOSE PROPERLY. THE SPRING BROKE OFF OF ONE OF THE DOORS AND SCRATCHED THAT SIDE OF MY VAN. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS BUT HONDA WILL NOT COVER IT! *TR
ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS, FIRST IN JANUARY 2004, AND MOST RECENTLY ON MAY 24, 2004, MY 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY LX LURCHED VIOLENTLY, CAUSING DRIVER AND PASSENGERS TO BE THROWN FORWARD. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR ON ALL OCCASIONS. ON EACH OCCASION, THE CAR WAS TRAVELING APPROX. 40 MPH. DESPITE TWO VISITS TO TWO DIFFERENT HONDA DEALERS, NOTHING IS BEING DONE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. AMERICAN HONDA CORP. ALSO REFUSES HELP. DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE FEARS THAT A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD RESULT IF THE CAR IS TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS LURCHING OCCURS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND PULLED OVER. THEN, CONSUMER NOTICED THAT SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE PASSENGER'S SIDE WHEEL. THE DRIVER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE PAD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO WORN OUT PARTS. *AK
MY FAMILY AND I WERE ON A VACATION IN OUR 2004 ODYSSEY. OUR VACATION WAS ALMOST 2000 MILES, ROUND TRIP. WHEN WE WERE NEARING OUR DESTINATION, OUR VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO LOSE POWER WHEN WE WOULD TRY TO PASS. IT WAS GETTING SO BAD THAT WE DECIDED TO PULL OFF AT A HONDA DEALERSHIP ALONG THE INTERSTATE. THE SERVICEMAN JUMPED IN THE VEHICLE AND IT DID NOT ACT OUT OF THE ORDINARY. HE TOLD US THAT LIKELY A COMPUTER CHIP WAS OFF AND NEEDED RESETTING, SO IF IT DID IT AGAIN, TO BE SURE TO PULL OFF THE INTERSTATE AND SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. WE PROCEEDED ANOTHER 60 MILES OR SO WITHOUT INCIDENT. UPON OUR RETURN TRIP A WEEK LATER, THE VAN DID THE SAME THING. IT WAS GETTING SO BAD THAT WE COULD ONLY GO 45 MILES PER HOUR IN THE PASSING LANE ON THE INTERSTATE. (KEEP IN MIND THAT OUR VAN HAD LESS THAN 3,000 MILES ON IT WHEN WE LEFT FOR OUR TRIP.) WE PULLED OFF A FEW TIMES TO TRY TO "RESET" THE VEHICLE, TO NO AVAIL. FINALLY, WE KNEW WE WOULD NOT MAKE IT HOME. AT THAT POINT, OUR ENGINE LIGHT AND TCS LIGHTS CAME ON AND STAYED ON. WE PULLED OFF AT ANOTHER SERVICE CENTER, AT WHICH POINT OUR VAN TOTALLY DIED. WE HAD TO HAVE A TOW, A TAXI, AND GET A HOTEL SINCE IT WAS SUNDAY. IT TURNED OUT THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND SENT METAL THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM. THEY HAD TO FLUSH THE TANK, HOSES, ETC., REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP, AND REPLACE A COUPLE OF FUEL INJECTORS. THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF SERVICE FOR ELEVEN DAYS. WE ARE NOW FEARFUL THAT THERE IS ENGINE DAMAGE THAT WON'T SHOW UP UNTIL AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. SO FAR, HONDA HAS PAID FOR THE REPAIRS AND OUR RENTAL CAR HOME (WE THINK), AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE TOW AND THE HOTEL BUT WILL NOT PAY FOR THE CAB, THE EXTRA MEALS OUT, ALL OF OUR PHONE CALLS TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS, ETC. THEY BASICALLY SAID THAT IT IS NOT THEIR FAULT THAT WE WERE SO FAR FROM HOME WHEN THE VEHICLE FAILED. WE TOTALLY DISTRUST OUR VAN AND DON'T LIKE HONDA OF AMERICA'S ATTITUDE.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE LOSE SPEED AND STALLS. *TS THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO LUNGE FORWARD. THE PROBLEM WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD. PLEASE REFER TO RECALL#04V176000. *SC *JB
DEAR MADAM OR SIR, WHILE DRIVING, WITH TWO CHILDREN SEATED INSIDE ON THE BACK SEATS, MY NEWLY PURCHASED HONDA ODYSSEY SUDDENLY FLASHED ALL THE SIGNALS ON THE CONTROL PANEL/DASH BOARD, BECAME ALMOST NON-MANEUVERABLE AND ABRUPTLY STOPPED. THIS HAPPENED JUST AFTER TWO MONTHS OF PURCHASE. MY WIFE, WHO WAS DRIVING THE CAR, AND THE TWO CHILDREN WERE IN PANIC AND SCARED NOT TO SPEAK OF THE TRAUMA AND INCONVENIENCE THEY UNDERWENT. IT PUT MY FAMILY IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION ONCE AND MY FAMILY AND I FEEL VERY BAD AND INSECURE ABOUT IT. FORTUNATELY THIS DID NOT HAPPEN ON A FREEWAY OR ON ANY BUSY ROAD OTHERWISE IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS FOR US. WE DO NOT WANT TO BE IN SAME SITUATION AGAIN AND WE HAVE LOST TRUST IN THIS PARTICULAR VANS MACHINERY DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT FAILED SO EARLY IN ITS LIFE CYCLE AND MORE SO BECAUSE THIS FAILURE WAS NOT OF TRIVIAL NATURE. HAD IT BEEN MINOR DEFECTS LIKE MALFUNCTIONING OF LIGHTS, INDICATORS, AC NOT WORKING, AUDIO NOT WORKING ETC. WE WOULD HAVE IGNORED. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE COMPUTER SYSTEM IN THE VEHICLE FAILED. AS PER DEALERSHIP AND AMERICAN HONDA THE VAN HAS BEEN REPAIRED BUT THIS HAPPENED SO EARLY IN THE LIFE CYCLE OF THE SUPPOSEDLY NEW VAN THAT MY FAMILY AND I ARE AFRAID AND HESITANT OF TAKING IT ON EVEN LOCAL ROADS. AS THIS POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK TO THE LIVES OF MY FAMILY AND ME AND MAY BE ALSO OTHERS, I THOUGHT IT TO BRING TO YOUR ATTENTION. MY FAMILY AND I APPRECIATE YOUR ATTENTION INTO THIS MATTER THAT IS SO IMPORTANT TO US. *AK
VAN SHAKES HORRIBLY AFTER REACHING 60 MPH AND IS REALLY BAD FROM AROUND 70 MPH. TAKEN IT IN AT LEAST 3 TIMES FOR THE SAME THING AND IT IS STILL NOT FIXED. THEY CHANGED OUT TIRES AND BALANCED BUT TO NO AVAIL.
DT: CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT TWO PROBLEMS. THE FIRST PROBLEM INVOLVED THE SLIDING DOOR LOCATED ON THE RIGHT SIDE WHICH DID NOT CLOSE WHEN IT WAS OPENED. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP SIX TIMES. HOWEVER, PROBLEM RECURRED ON JULY 19, 2005, AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD HIM TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK. CONSUMER HAS REPEATEDLY BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP REPLACED SOME PARTS, BUT CONSUMER SAW NO IMPROVEMENT. HE WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE DOOR MALFUNCTIONING WHEN OPENED. WHAT IF IT WOULD MALFUNCTION WHEN IT WAS CLOSED AND IT OPENED WHILE DRIVING. THE SECOND PROBLEM INVOLVED TRANSMISSION. HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE THAT WAS DATED SPRING/SUMMER 2004. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR SERVICE AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. TRANSMISSION HESITATED WHILE DRIVING. *AK
THE HIGH BEAM HAS A SINGLE HALOGEN LIGHT FOR BOTH SETTINGS. WHEN SWITCHING FROM LOW TO HIGH BEAM THE LIGHT FAILS TO PROJECT FAR AHEAD . THIS REDUCES EXTENDED VISIBILITY AS NEEDED FOR THE HIGH BEAM. DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO MAKE OBSERVATIONS DUE TO BUSINESS HOURS IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *AK WITH A SINGLE HALOGEN BULB, WHEN SWITCHING FROM LOW BEAM TO HIGH BEAM, THE LOW BEAM ELEMENT GOES OUT AND NO LONGER WORKS RESULTING IN A DARK SENSATION AHEAD OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE HIGH BEAM LIGHT IS FURTHER OUT AND IS TOO DISPERSED. SEAT BELT TENSION EXCESSIVE, CONTINUES TO LOCK UP, CAUSING SHOULDER DISCOMFORT, POTENTIAL SHOULDER INJURY. *AK
HONDA ODYSSEY 2004 AUTOMATED SLIDING DOOR FAILURE. UPON UNLOCKING CAR, AUTOMATED DOOR OPENED 2 INCHES AND HUNG LONG ENOUGH FOR MY CHILD TO PUT A HAND IN AND THE DOOR CLOSED BACK ON THE HAND. FAILURE 1 - PARTIALLY OPEN AND RECLOSE. FAILURE 2 - WAS WHEN THE DOOR DID NOT AUTO-SENSE AN OBJECT IN THE DOOR JAM BEFORE CLOSING.
I HAD NOTICE THE ACCELARATOR PEDAL GIVING A JERKY MOVEMENT AND CAR STARTING AFTER HESITITING FOR A FEW SECONDS SINCE DAY 1 WHENEVER I ACCLERATE. THIS IS CONTINUING TO HAPPEN AND OCCURS MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN THERE IS RAIN OR SNOW. *AK
GAS PEDAL STUCK ON A VERY COLD DAY (~10 F). MY WIFE COMPLAINED THAT THE PEDAL COULD NOT BE PUSHED DOWN AT ALL; SHE FINALLY GOT IT TO MOVE AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF TRYING. BECAUSE WE CAN BACK DOWN OUR DRIVEWAY WITHOUT PUSHING ON THE GAS, SHE DIDN'T NOTICE UNTIL THE CAR WAS ALREADY IN THE STREET.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. SPORADICALLY, WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE HEATED SEAT BECOMES SO HOT THAT IT BURNS THE CONTACT'S SKIN. THERE ARE NO WARNING INDICATORS BEFORE OR AFTER THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,900 AND CURRENT MILEAGE IS 47,000. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WHEN THE CONSUMER DEPRESSED THE BRAKES SEAT BELT LOCKED. THE BELT WILL RELAX AFTER THIRTY SECONDS OR SO. THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED THREE HUNDRED TIMES, AT LEAST TEN TIMES A DAY. CONSUMER CLAIMED THAT WHEN THE BELT LOCKED IT CAUSED PAIN. *AK
2004 HONDA ODYSSEY EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR BAG EQUIPMENT DURING A MINOR ACCIDENT.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***.*MR THE CONSUMER'S DAUGHTER'S FOOT BECAME STUCK WHILE TRANSFERRING HER FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL TO THE BRAKE THEREFORE WAS UNABLR TO STOP THE VEHICEL. AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE WHICH WAS STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION. THE DRIVER WAS PINNED IN HER SEAT AND WAS UNABLE TO REMOVER HER SEAT BELT. *NM
