I WAS LEANING INTO THE TRUNK AND THE BACK HATCH CAME FLYING DOWN ONTO MY BACK. THE HATCH HYDRAULICS/STRUTS GAVE WAY. I HAVE ALREADY ORDERED THE PARTS AT THE DEALER BECAUSE IT WASN'T SHUTTING PROPERLY. IT HAS TAKEN OVER A WEEK FOR THE PARTS TO COME IN. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE HAD TO GET THESE PARTS REPLACED IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS FOR A LESS THAN TWO YEAR OLD CAR. I WAS INJURED AND I AM SEEKING MEDICAL ATTENTION. *JB
THE TWO FRONT DOORS TO NOT HAVE ENOUGH TENSION WHEN OPENED AND THE DOORS SWING SHUT (EVEN ON A LEVEL SURFACE) AND HAVE CLOSED ON MY LEG AND MY 3 YEAR OLDS LEG. THE DEALER SAYS THAT MY VAN IS SET TO THE STANDARDS AND I THINK THE STANDARDS NEED TO BE CHANGED! *JB
IN 2/05, TOOK VAN TO DEALER, EXPLAINING VEHICLE SOMETIMES DOES NOT START, DOESN'T EVEN MAKE ANY TURN OVER NOISES, BUT THEN SMELLS OF GAS. THIS IS AN OCCASIONAL ITEM AND THEN STARTS. DEALERS STATED I MUST BE TURNING THE KEY TOO FAST. ALSO BEEN EXPERIENCING VEHICLE CUTTING OUT BETWEEN 35-50 MPH. DEALER STATES MUST BE FROM TAKING FOOT OFF GAS PEDAL. MOST RECENTLY, AROUND 33K, BLOWER MOTOR FOR AC HAS TERRIBLE NOISE. HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER 2X IN 3 WEEKS. TOLD THERE ARE "LEAVES" IN SYSTEM. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATES IT IS MOST LIKELY A BEARING GOING BAD IN THE MOTOR. HAVE CONTINUED TO INFORM DEALER OF STARTING PROBLEMS & HESITATION PROBLEMS BETWEEN 35-50 MPG. TOLD WARRANTY IS CLOSE TO EXPIRING, BUT HAVE DRIVEN & STARTED VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES & CAN'T REPLICATE PROBLEM. MOST RECENT TRIP TO DEALER WAS ON 8/23/06. *JB
VEHICLE WILL STALL SPARADICALLY WITHIN THE FIRST FIVE MINUTES OF DRIVING. VEHICLE CAN EITHER BE COLD OR PREVIOUSLY DRIVEN AND STALL WILL OCCUR. ONCE STALL OCCURS THE ENGINE WILL RESTART WITHOUT A PROBLEM. STALL CAN OCCUR AS MANY AS THREE TIMES DAILY OR NOT FOR SEVERAL DAYS. AT A STOP SIGN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO TURN ONTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC GOING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH AND THE VEHICLE STALLED IN THE INETRSECTION. BOTH MY YOUNG CHILDREN AND I WERE NEARLY KILLED. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE DEALER AND HONDA AS WELL. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE ON THIS ISSUE FOUR TIMES AND DEALER IS UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. PROBLEM IS NOW ONGOING FOR THE PAST TWO MONTHS. THIS SHOULD BE A REAL SAFETY CONCERN TO HONDA AS WELL AS ALL ODYSSEY OWNERS. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A METAL PLATE THAT CAME LOOSE IN THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN. THIS FAILURE INTERFERED WITH THE RADIO CONTROLS. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERNS THAT THIS COULD CAUSE A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING CAPABILITIES. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED AND DETERMINED THERE WAS A BULLETIN ISSUED FOR THE PLATE THAT INSTRUCTED DEALERS TO TAP THE PLATE BACK INTO PLACE. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP AWAITING REPAIRS.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE THE RIGHT REAR SEAT BELT WAS TWISTED AROUND THE OCCUPANT. THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE WOULD NOT RELEASE THEREFORE THE SEAT BELT HAD TO BE CUT. ALTHOUGH THE DEALER WAS ALERTED NO INSPECTIONS HAVE BEEN MADE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 20-40 MPH. THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHILE DRIVING UPHILL SEVERAL TIMES AS WELL. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE BECAUSE IT WAS A RANDOM OCCURRENCE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO WAIT UNTIL THE FAILURE WORSENED OR UNTIL THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT HER VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V176000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
2004 HONDA ODYSSEY TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. AT 20,000 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION HAS STARTED TO SLIP. ALSO, IT ROLLS BACKWARDS WHEN IT IS IN DRIVE IN OUR DRIVEWAY. OUR DRIVEWAY IS NOT STEEP. IT DID NOT DO THAT WHEN WE FIRST GOT IT. THE DEALER SAID THAT WAS NORMAL. WE ALMOST SLAMMED INTO A CAR THAT WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF US ON A HILL. WE WERE FACING DOWNWARD. I PUT THE VAN IN REVERSE, THEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO MAKE SOME ROOM SO I COULD GET AROUND THE CAR PARKED IN FRONT OF US. THE VAN ROLLED FORWARD AND I HAD JUST ENOUGH TIME TO AVOID CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE. I HAD TO FIND THE OWNER OF THE CAR IN FRONT SO HE COULD MOVE OUT OF THE WAY SO I COULD GET OUT OF THERE. *JB
2004, HONDA ODYSSEY- STEERING COLUMN BUSTED, VECHICLE WAS UNABLE TO SWITCH FROM DRIVE TO PARK, WHICH LEAVES YOU IN DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE YOU HAVE A RUNNING VECHILE THAT YOU CAN NOT STOP. FOR THOSE OF YOU HAVE A SIMILIAR VECHILE IT MEANS THE REAR PASSENGER DOORS DO NOT OPEN. THIS IS NOT A GOOD SITUATION WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR CHILDREN IN THE BACK OF A MOVING CAR WITH NO WAY OUT. THE 1ST ATTEMPT AT A HONDA SERVICE CENTER WAS PLEASANT AND THE PROBLEM WAS THOUGHT TO BE CORRECTED, HOWEVER THE 2ND TIME NOT SO GOOD. I WAS TREATED VERY POORLY MY SITUATION WAS NOT HANDLED APPROPRIATELY. AFTER 5 HOURS AT A SERVICE CENTER I HAD TO BRING MY VECHICLE TO ANOTHER CENTER SIMPLY I AM IN THE PROCESS OF WRITING A LETTER TO HONDA. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFTEY OF MY FAMILY. *NM
A 20 MONTH OLD TODDLER GOT HER FINGERS STUCK IN SLIDING DOOR OF A 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE DOOR USUALLY DOES NOT CLOSE IF SOMETHING IS IN THE WAY, BUT DID NOT STOP FOR THE TINY FINGERS. WHAT WAS EVEN MORE OF A CONCERN IS THAT THE DOORS COULD NOT BE OPENED FOR ABOUT 3 MINUTES. NO CONTROL BUTTON WORKED AND THE DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED MANUALLY FROM THE OUTSIDE. AFTER 3 MINUTES THE DOOR OPENED, BUT I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THE BUTTON WORKED. WE DID NOT FOLLOW UP WITH THE PHYSICIAN YET, BUT IT SEEMS THAT SHE IS OK BESIDE SOME BRUISING ON HER FINGERS BUT THIS SHOULD BE CHECKED OUT. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 35MPH, ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE TIRE BLEW FROM THE SIDEWALL. THE TIRE RECEIVED REGULAR PRESSURE INSPECTIONS. IT WAS REPLACED WITH THE SPARE UNTIL THE VEHICLE CAN BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE TIRE WAS MICHELIN 225/60R16 ALL SEASON.
THE SAFETY DANGER I WANT TO REPORT IS LOCKING A CHILD IN A VEHICLE WITH IGNITION TURNED ON AND NO WAY TO GET INSIDE THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE: HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN 2004 LX MODEL. THIS MODEL HAS AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK ONCE IGNITION IS TURNED ON. HOWEVER, UNLIKE MOST OTHER VEHICLES WHERE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK OPERATES AND LOCKS DOORS WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, ON HONDA ODYSSEY - THERE IS SIMPLY A FIXED TIME DELAY ~10 SEC BETWEEN START OF IGNITION AND LOCKING OF ALL DOORS. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS IS: (A) IN A PARKING LOT - I STARTED THE CAR BY SITTING ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND WITH ALL DOORS CLOSED, AND IMMEDIATELY DECIDED TO OPEN THE DOOR AND STEP OUT TO VERIFY THAT I HAVE PUT ALL THE GROCERIES BACK IN THE VAN - THE VAN DOOR SHUT LOCKED - THERE WAS AN ADULT INSIDE THE CAR WHO COULD OPEN THE DOOR FOR ME - BUT THERE WAS ALSO A 18 MONTH OLD BABY IN THE CAR SEAT - AND I AM WORRIED THAT THIS CAN HAPPEN TO OTHERS. (B) ON 22ND JANUARY MORNING, I STARTED MY CAR IN THE MY GARAGE AND SINCE IT IS COLD GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE TO COME IN THE HOUSE - BUT TODAY I DID THIS TOO QUICKLY (WITHIN 10 SEC?) AND ENDED UP LOCKING MYSELF OUT OF MY VAN WITH VAN ENGINE RUNNING. I GOT MY SPARE KEY TO OPEN THE LOCKED DOORS. AGAIN - AM VERY CONCERNED THAT NOT EVERYONE HAS SPARE KEYS EASILY ACCESSIBLE (COULD BE WITH SOME OTHER MEMBER OF THE FAMILY). THE GREATEST SAFETY DANGER IS LOCKING A CHILD IN A VEHICLE WITH IGNITION TURNED ON AND NO WAY TO GET INSIDE THE VEHICLE. *NM
PASSENGER AIR BAG IS TURNING OFF FREQUENTLY. THERE IS ALWAYS A STRONG CRACK WHEN YOU PRESS THE BRAKE. THERE IS A DECOLORING PASSENGER AIR BAG PLACE. IT EATS GAS IF YOU TURN ON THE BACK AIR CONDITIONER. THE PASSENGER CONSOLE HAD A BIG VIBRATION. THE ODYSSEY HAS GONE TO THE DEALER MORE THAN FOUR TIMES FOR THE SAME REASON BUT IT'S NEVER FIXED. THEY SAID THOSE CLAIMS ARE NORMAL FOR A MODEL 2004. *JB
MY 3 YEAR OLDS LEG GOT STUCK AS THE AUTOMATIC DOOR WAS OPENING TO OUR HONDA ODYSSEY. THE DOOR KEPT OPENING PINNING HIS LEG BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE FLOORBOARD. I HAD TO MANUALLY PULL ON THE DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE THE DOOR REVERSED AND STARTED CLOSING SO I COULD GET HIS LEG OUT. HIS LEG WAS BADLY BRUISED WITH DEEP RED MARKS ON EACH SIDE. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO THE DEALER TO SEE IF THE DOORS SAFETY MECHANISMS WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE DOOR HAD NO SAFETY MECHANISM TO STOP IT FROM OPENING IF SOMETHING (LIKE A LEG) WAS STUCK BETWEEN IT AND THE FLOORBOARD, THAT IT ONLY HAD SAFETY MECHANISMS FOR AS IT CLOSED. THERE ONLY OPTION WAS TO DISABLE THE DOORS EVERYTIME THE KIDS WERE IN THE CAR. THIS IS A TOUGH SOLUTION AS WHEN THE DOORS ARE DEACTIVATED THEY ARE VERY HARD TO OPEN AND CLOSE. EVEN MY 7 YEAR OLD CANNOT OPEN THEM MANUALLY. ALSO I FEEL AS IF THERE SHOULD BE A SAFETY MECHANISM FOR THE DOOR AS IT OPENS AS WELL AS WHEN IT CLOSES. IF I HAD NOT BEEN RIGHT THERE TO FORCE THE DOOR TO OPEN, HIS LEG WOULD HAVE BEEN BROKEN INSTEAD OF JUST BRUISED. ALSO IN THE FUTURE I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY MAKE SURE THE DOORS ARE OFF NOW WHEN HE IS IN THE CAR. *JB
ONE OF THE ENGINE MOUNTS BROKE BACK IN 2005 AND HAD FOUR MORE BROKEN OVER THE YEARS. I CURRENTLY HAVE 2 THAT ARE BROKEN BUT WILL NOT REPLACE THEM DUE TO COST AND IT SEEMS THIS IS A DEFECT DUE INFACT TO THE VOLUME OF TIMES THEY HAVE BROKEN. TOYOTA HAS REPLACED THEM TWICE. *TR
I AM GUESSING THAT WHEN I WENT TO THE CAR WASH ABOUT A WEEK AGO, THEY LIFTED UP THE CAPTAINS CHAIRS, IN THE 2ND ROW, IN MY HONDA ODYSSEY TO CLEAN. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT THEY HAD DONE THIS AND CHECKED MY 2 YEAR OLDS CAR SEAT TO MAKE SURE IT WAS SECURE BUT NOT THE SEAT ITSELF AND DROVE AWAY. TODAY I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND HAD TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES WHEN MY DAUGHTER, CAR SEAT, AND CAPTAIN CHAIR FLEW INTO THE BACK OF MY DRIVERS SEAT. THE CAPTAINS CHAIR WAS NOT SECURE. MY DAUGHTER WAS JUST FINE WITH A FEW CUTS AND BRUISES. I SPOKE TO ALL OF MY FRIENDS TO WARN THEM ABOUT THIS AND NOT A ONE WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THAT AS BEING AND ISSUE. YOU CANNOT SEE EASILY THAT THE SEAT IS NOT SECURELY ATTACHED AND BECAUSE I HAD NOT TOUCHED THE SEAT MYSELF I DIDN'T HAVE ANY IDEA THAT THEY WOULD BE ANY ISSUE. I KNOW NOW THAT I SHOULD ALWAYS CHECK THAT BUT SEEING AS HOW NONE OF MY FRIENDS EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT THAT EITHER, I THOUGHT I SHOULD MAKE PEOPLE AWARE. IT SHOCKS ME THAT SO MANY SAFETY FEATURES HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED BUT NOT ON SOMETHING AS IMPORTANT AS THIS. PLEASE HELP ME. *NM
THIS HAPPENED WHILE FINISHING A RIGHT TURN ONTO A SHORT ON RAMP TO THE FREEWAY. WHILE HOLDING THE STEERING WHEEL WITH MY LEFT HAND (RIGHT HAND MEANWHILE MOVING TO NEW POSITION)AND TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL COUNTERCLOCKWISE TO STRAIGHTEN MY VEHICLE AGAIN, THE LITTLE FINGER OF MY LEFT HAND GOT CAUGHT BETWEEN THE AIRBAG/STEERING COLUMN AND THE ARRAY OF BUTTONS FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL (NEAR THE BASE WHERE THE GAP THERE IS LARGER). AFTER TURNING THE WHEEL A LITTLE BIT SEVERAL TIMES WHILE TRYING TO FREE MY HAND, I REALIZED I WAS IN TROUBLE: I COULDN'T STRAIGHTEN THE STEERING WHEEL OUT WITHOUT BREAKING MY HAND, AND TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL FAR ENOUGH TO THE RIGHT TO FREE MY HAND WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE LEAVING THE ROAD. SO I GRITTED MY TEETH AND YANKED MY HAND OUT, LEAVING A LONG CUT ON THE TOP/SIDE OF MY LITTLE FINGER, BUT ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING. LOOKING AT THE STEERING WHEEL IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION, I SEE THAT LARGE SPACE BETWEEN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE AIRBAG ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE AIRBAG (2 O CLOCK TO 4 O CLOCK) COMES TO A NARROWER CONE OR POINTED SHAPE AT THE INFERIOR END, SO THAT WHILE HOLDING THE STEERING WHEEL THERE WITH THE LEFT HAND (THUMB ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE WHEEL), THE HAND CAN SLIDE DOWN AND GET 'FED' INTO THE SPACE BETWEEN THE CRUISE CONTROL BUTTONS AND THE AIRBAG AREA. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING 22 YEARS WITHOUT ACCIDENT OR INCIDENT, MOST OF THEM WITH HONDA VEHICLES, SEVERAL OF THEM WITH CRUISE CONTROL VEHICLES, AND I HAVEN'T CHANGED MY STYLE OF DRIVING,BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. *JB
DT: 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE SECOND ROW SEAT DISLODGED FROM THE VEHICLE AND TIPPED FORWARD WITH CONSUMER'S DAUGHTER IN A CHILD SAFETY SEAT. THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE CONSUMER HAD TO MAKE A SUDDEN STOP. THIS SEAT HAD BEEN IN THIS SPOT FOR MONTHS. THE DEALERSHIP STATED IT WAS NOT LATCHED CORRECTLY AND THEY SECURED IT. THE DEALERSHIP SHOWED CONSUMER HOW TO DO THIS. SHE TRIED TO LATCH THE SEAT AND COULD NOT GET IT IN. SHE THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AGREED THAT IT WOULD NOT GO IN. THEN THEY LOOKED AT ANOTHER VEHICLE AND FOUND THE SAME PROBLEM. THE SEAT HAD TO BE DROPPED DOWN VERY HARD INTO PLACE TO MAKE IT LATCH; THIS WAS NOT INDICATED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THE DEALERSHIP ORIGINALLY STATED COULD VISUALIZE THAT ITWAS LATCHED, BUT UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THERE WAS NO WAY TO TELL.*AK
7 YEAR OLD CHILD'S FINGER WAS CLOSED INTO THE AUTOMATIC DOOR OF OUR HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN. THE DOOR WULD NOT OPEN AGAIN UNTIL IT HAD FULLY CLOSED ON THE FINGER. WE THOUGHT THE DOOR HAD A FAILSAFE DEVICE TO AUTOMATICALLY OPEN IF IT ENCOUNTERED RESISTANCE. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. WE WILL CONSULT WITH OUR HONDA DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH OUR VEHICLE.
1MONTH AGO I OPENED THE PASSENGER SIDE AUTOMATIC DOOR ON MY 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY AND IT PINNED A PUBLIX BAGGER AND SHOPPING CART BETWEEN MY VEHICLE AND ANOTHER VECHILE. THE DOOR DID NOT STOP AND CONTINIUED TO RAM ITSELF OPEN. THANKFULLY, THE BAGGER WAS NOT INJURED, BUT THE MY VEHICLE HAS SEVERAL SIGNIFICANT DENTS AND SCRAPES. IN DEC. 2004, WE HAD TAKEN THE VAN IN FOR DOOR PROBLEMS; NOT SHUTTING PROPERLY, STOPPING DURING CLOSING FOR NO REASON ETC. I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE DOOR'S SAFETY FEATURES, ESPECIALLY REGARDING MY 2 Y/O. THE DEALERSHIP 12/04 & 7/25/05, STATES THAT NO ABNORMALITIES WERE FOUND. I'M VERY CONCERNED AND WILL SEEK LEGAL ADVICE.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY MY GAS PEDAL NO LONGER WORKED AND I WAS FORCED TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. HONDA TOLD ME IT WAS A BROKEN THROTTLE CABLE AND DID PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE BECAUSE I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED.

THE DOOR HAD TO CYCLE BEFORE CONSUMER COULD REOPEN IT AND TRY TO GET HIS FOOT OUT. THERE WAS NOT A WAY TO STOP THE DOOR TO PREVENT HIS FOOT FROM GETTING SMASHED. THE SON'S TOES WERE ONLY SMASHED IN THE INCIDENT BUT IT COULD HAVE SMASHED OR EVEN BROKEN HIS FOOT OR LEG.*SB
THE CHILD SEAT HARNESS CROSSED THE CHILD IN THE FACE, AND BECAME UNLATCHED. CONSUMER CONTACTED MANUFACTURER, WHO HAS SINCE THEN REPLACED THE VEHICLE AFTER TELLING HER THAT VEHICLE WAS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE SEAT. *AK
PAINT PEELING FROM FRONT AND REAR BUMPER. PAINT NOT ADHERED PROPERLY FROM FACTORY. PAINT PEELS FREELY WITH ANY . THIS VEH. HAS ONLY 10K MILES, LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OWNED. ALWAYS HAND WASHED. THIS IS NOT NORMAL WEAR --!*AK

NO WARNING LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO DETERMINED THE BRAKE PEDAL ROCKING MOVEMENT WAS NORMAL. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED BECAUSE IT COULD BE CONNECTED WITH OTHER UNNOTICED SAFETY PROBLEMS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE SLIDING DOOR ACTUATOR WAS REPLACED. THE SIDE DOOR SEPAKER WAS REPLACED. UPDATED 12/01/06. *JB
2004 HONDA ODYSSEY DEVELOPED PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION.*MR THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TOT HE DEALER FOR TRANSMISSION RECALL WORK. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PERFORM THE REPAIRS BECAUSE THE TOOLS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. PRIOR TO A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION WAS WORKING FIND. AFTER THE MAINTENANCE THE VEHICLE BEGAN PERFORMING ERRATICALLY. THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT HE DID NOT DAMAGE THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER OFFERED THE CONSUMER A NEW TRANSMISSION BUT THEY WANTED HER TO PAY FOR IT TO BE DELIVERED. THE CONSUMER REFUSED STATING THE ALL RECALL REPAIR ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FREE OF CHARGE, PER THE RECALL NOTICE. *NM

UPON TAKING THE GROCERIES OUT OF THE VEHICLE THE CHILD HIT A BUTTON WHICH ENGAGED THE AUTOMATIC DOOR, CAUSING THE CHILD TO BECOME TRAPPED. HOWEVER, IT TOOK SOME TIME BEFORE THE CHILD COULD BE RELEASED FROM THE DOOR. *AK

WHEN DRIVING AROUND 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY OUR 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN LIKE SOMEONE PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND HELD IT TO THE FLOOR. THIS CONSTANT ACCELERATION ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AS WE WERE FORCED TO WEAVE AROUND IN TRAFFIC UNTIL WE COULD PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE ACCELERATION CONTINUED AND WE FOUGHT THE VAN WITH THE BRAKES ON UNTIL WE COULD SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. WHEN RESTARTING THE ENGINE IN PARK, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV AT REDLINE LEVELS. TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND ON AGAIN A COUPLE OF TIMES AS IT CONTINUED TO BE REVVING AT RED LINE LEVELS. EVENTUALLY AFTER SLAMMING ON THE ACCELERATOR SEVERAL TIMES, THE ENGINE IDLED AT NORMAL LEVELS. THIS WAS A VERY FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE IN A LIGHT TRAFFIC AND COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS IN MODERATE OR HEAVY TRAFFIC - ESPECIALLY SINCE WE HAVE 4 KIDS. *JB

WHILE APPLYING PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO REDUCE THE SPEED BECAUSE THE TRAFFIC WAS SLOWING DOWN VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED ABRUPTLY. I APPLIED MORE AND MORE PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES, AND NOTHING HAPPENED. VEHICLE WAS NOT STOPPING ANY FASTER. I DID NOT PUMP THE BRAKES SINCE ODYSSEY HAS ABS AND THEY DID NOT KICK IN THOUGH I APPLIED A LOT OF PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES. *AK I COLLIDED WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR FASTER.
A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE TRANSMISSION SECOND GEAR SET. CONSUMER STATED THAT THE DEALER WILL NOT HAVE THE REPAIR KIT UNTIL NOVEMBER 28,2004. *AK
DAILY MY 2004 ODYSSEY WILL STALL. THE ENGINE WILL START, RUN FOR ONE SECOND, THEN SHUT OFF. THIS WILL OCCUR FOR ONE MINUTE TO ONE HOUR. IT FIRST OCCURED WHEN THE VAN HAD THREE HUNDRED MILES ON ITS ODOMETER. IT HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES, BUT THEY TELL ME IT CANNOT BE FIXED UNLESS IT ACTS UP AT THE DEALERSHIP. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT I AM PRESSING ON THE FOOTFEET AND FLOODING THE VAN. LASTLY, THEY TOLD ME TO HOLD THE KEY TWO SECONDS AFTER THE VAN STARTS-EVEN THOUGH THIS WILL WEAR OUT THE STARTER. NO DEATHS OR INJURIES HAVE OCCURED DUE TO THIS, JUST A RUINED VACATION AND MANY TIMES OF BEING STRANDED WITH A BRAND NEW VEHICLE THAT WILL NOT START. IT HAS NEVER BEEN EXAMINED BY ANYONE AT A DEALERSHIP-THE SERVICE ADVISER WOULD ALWAYS SEND ME AWAY WITHOUT HAVING A TECHNICIAN LOOK AT IT. *AK

WHILE CONSUMER WAS ENTERING INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE PLACING THE CHILD ON THE SECOND ROW SEAT THE SEAT SNAPPED BACKWARDS AND HIT THE CHILD. THIS CAUSED THE CHILD TO HIT THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE. NO INJURIES REPORTED. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC CLAIMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. MECHANIC INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE SEAT SPRING LEVER WAS TOO FORCEFUL AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
WHEN SHIFTING UP FROM A LOWER GEAR (FROM 1ST TO 2ND) MOST NOTABLY AT LOW SPEEDS, AROUND 20 TO 25 MPH, THE ENGINE FEELS LIKE IT IS REVVING HIGHER THAN NORMAL BEFORE SHIFTING INTO THE NEXT GEAR. WHEN IT DOES SHIFT, IT SHIFTS HARD AND MAKES A CLANKING NOISE. IT FEELS AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION IS STICKING, PREVENTING IT FROM CHANGING GEARS IN A NORMAL FASHION. I HAVE NOT NOTICED IT OCCURRING AT ANY SPECIFIC TIME, IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN AT RANDOM INTERVALS WHEN DRIVING AT LOWER SPEEDS. I HAVE TAKEN THE VAN IN FOR INSPECTION AND THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT RECREATE THIS PROBLEM. TOOK VAN ON JULY 08, CONTACTED HONDA, THE PROBLEM STILL HAS YET TO BE RESOLVED. THIS IS ONE OF SIX PROBLEMS I HAD TO TAKE THE VAN IN FOR. AFTER HAVING THE VAN FOR TWO WEEKS, ONLY TWO NON-MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WERE PARTIALLY RESOLVED AND ONE NON-MECHANICAL PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED COMPLETELY.*AK
WHEN DRIVING AT A CONSISTENT SPEED BETWEEN 30 AND 50 MPH, ENGINE FEELS LIKE IT IS LOSING POWER AND THE TACHOMETER NEEDLE FLUCTUATES, THIS WILL OCCUR FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN RETURN TO NORMAL. I TOLD SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THE PROBLEM OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY. TOOK VAN ON JULY 08, CONTACTED HONDA, STILL NO RESOLUTION.*AK

MY 2004 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS LURCHED AND LOSS FORWARD POWER/MOTION FOR JUST A FEW SECONDS WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY AT SPEED BETWEEN 40-60 MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED DURING THE FIRST 7500 MILES. CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ON DURING THESE EVENTS. I HAVE CHECKED RECALLS AND OTHER OWNERS AND FOUND SIMILAR COMMENTS. THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IF PASSING OR ADDITIONAL POWER IS NEEDED WHILE DRIVING UP INCLINE. HAVE HAD FUEL PUMP RECALL ITEM CORRECTED. PLEASE INVESTIGATE! *JB
I OWN A 2004 HONDA ODESSEY. I WAS OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE AND OPENING THE PASSENGER DOOR, WHICH IS AUTOMATIC. MY 2 YEAR-OLD LEANED AGAINST THE OUTSIDE OF THE VAN AGAINST THE REAR PANEL AT THE SAME TIME THAT THE AUTOMATIC REAR DOOR WAS OPENING. SHE BECAME LODGED BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE VAN. THE REVERSE MECHANISM ON THE DOOR DID NOT OPERATE (OR DOESN'T EXIST) AND I HAD TO MANUALLY PULL THE DOOR OFF HER AND DISLODGE HER FROM BETWEEN THE DOOR AND VAN. I REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO HONDA AND THEY INDICATED THAT THEY HAVE HAD 10 OTHER REPORTS THUS FAR. MY DAUGHTER DID NOT SUFFER A SERIOUS INJURY. HOWEVER, I FEEL THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR SERIOUS INJURY TO A CHILD IN THIS MANNER. *AK
