AC CONDENSER LEAK CAUSED BY "ROCK HITTING IT". POOR DESIGN WHICH SHOULD HAVE A GRILL PROTECTING IT. CAUSES FREON LEAK. DEALERS NOW SUGGESTING TO INSTALL AN AFTER MARKET GRILL AFTER SPENDING $1000 TO FIX. CLEARLY A DESIGN PROBLEM BY HONDA. *TR
VERY LOUD PUSATING SOUND WHEN REAR WINDOWS OPEN. IT VIBRATES AND IS SO LOUD I THOUGHT I HAD A FLAT TIRE. MY EARS AND MY CHILDRENS EARS HURT. IT OCCURS WHEN WE ARE DRIVING 35-40 MPH.*AK
DRIVER SEAT IS CROOKED RIGHT SIDE LOWER THEN LEFT SIDE WHEN DRIVE OVER 15 MINUTES GETING PAIN ON RIGHT HIP AND LEG.
CONSUMER HAD VEHICLE PARKED IN GARAGE WITH ENGINE RUNNING. WHILE BEING IN PARK VEHICLE SUDDENLY REVERSED AND CRASHED INTO PRIVATE PROPERTY.*AK
DT: CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT A STEERING COLUMN PROBLEM. THE FRONT END MADE NOISE AND THE STEERING SHOOK AT SPEED OF 50-70 MPH. DEALER EXAMINED VEHICLE 5 TIMES, AND THEY ARE REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. MANUFACTURER WAS STICKING WITH THE DEALER. THEY SAID THE SPECS WERE WITHIN VEHICLE LIMITS. HAD A HEARING WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM, AND THEY ASKED THE MANUFACTURER TO DO THE REPAIRS. 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATING, ENGINE RACING AND SHUTTING OFF. THERE ARE ALSO PROBLEMS WITH DOOR EQUIPMENT NOT LOCKING OR UNLOCKING, AS WELL AS PROBLEMS WITH THE ACCELERATOR.*MR THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION LOCKED IN PARK. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE CONSUMER HAS EXPERIENCED THREE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE THROTTLE IN ADDITION TO ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE SLIDING DOOR (DRIVER'S SIDE), POWER LOCKS AND AIR BAG SENSOR. *NM
2005 HONDA ODYSSEY EX WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH AND ABOVE, LOUD WHISTLING SOUND IS HEARD IN THE VAN. NOISE IS UNBEARABLE AND DISTRACTING ON LONG DRIVE. THIS IS SERIOUS ISSUE DISTRACTING DRIVER'S ATTENTION WHILE ON LONG DRIVE. HONDA DEALERSHIP HAVE NO SOLUTION FOR THIS. AMERICAN HONDA SHOULD BE FORCED TO RESOLVE THIS ASAP. *JB
I JUST PURCHASED A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY ABOUT A MONTH AGO, IT CURRENTLY HAS 500 MILES ON IT. LAST WEEK, THE ABS, VSA, AND BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD IT TOWED INTO THE KOONS HONDA DEALERSHIP IN MANASSAS FOR REPAIR. I WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE VSA CONTROL UNIT WAS BAD, HOWEVER THEY COULD NOT REPAIR IT BECAUSE THE PART IS ON INDEFINITE BACKORDER FROM HONDA. THEY STATED THAT THEY HAD NO IDEA IF THE PART WOULD TAKE DAY, WEEKS, OR MONTHS TO GET IN. THE DID STATE THAT MY CAR WAS 'SAFE' TO DRIVE, HOWEVER IT WOULD NOT HAVE ABS, VSA, BRAKING ASSIST, OR TRACTION CONTROL UNTIL THE VSA MODULE IS REPLACED. THIS DOES NOT REFLECT 'SAFE' IN MY EYES, ESPECIALLY GIVEN THE WEATHER WE ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE TOMORROW. COULD THIS NOT POSE SOME TYPE OF LIABILITY ISSUE FOR HONDA IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN PREVENTED IF THE SAFETY FEATURES WERE ACTIVE. I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP IF THERE WAS ANY PROBLEMS GETTING NEW ODYSSEYS FOR SALE AND THEY SAID 'NO', THAT THEY HAD A REGULAR FLOW OF THEM COMING IN. SO HONDA, OBVIOUSLY PRIORITIZES THAT THE VSA CONTROL UNITS ARE FIRST SLATED FOR NEW VEHICLES, AND HAS NOT ALLOCATED ENOUGH FOR POSSIBLE ISSUES ON SOLD VEHICLES. I HAVE CONTACT HONDA THROUGH THERE 1-800 NUMBER AND THE CASE HAS BEEN ESCALATED TO A CALL MANAGER THAT I AM WAITING TO HEAR FROM. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR OCCASSIONALLY REMAINS AJAR. THIS OCCURS PRIMARILY DURING RAINY AND OR EXTREMELY COLD DAYS. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR REPAIRS, BUT PROBLEM STILL OCCURS.
2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. DRIVING IN WINTER ON FREEWAY. WINDSHIELD WASHER FLUID NOT COMING OUT. UNABLE TO CLEAN THE WINDSHIELD; POOR VISIBILITY. TURNS OUT THAT "LOW WINDSHIELD FLUID LEVEL WARNING" NOT INSTALLED BY MANUFACTURER. OWNER'S MANUAL INDICATES THAT "WARNING" IS AVAILABLE. HONDA INDICATED THAT ONLY CANADIAN MODELS ARE EQUIPPED WITH THIS SAFETY FEATURE. ARE CANADIAN LAWS STRICTER THAN OURS? I HAD THAT FEATURE ON EVERY CAR SINCE 1983.
AT 9.974 MILES MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY WAS FOUND TO HAVE AN AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSOR LEAK. THIS IS DUE TO THE WIDE OPEN, LOW PROFILE OPENING ON THE FRONT OF THE VAN. THIS WAS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR! I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A MESH INSTALLED THERE BY THE MANUFACTURER TO PROTECT THE CONDENSOR.
MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS STALLED TWICE WHILE DRIVING. 1ST EPISODE WAS JAN 2005(~1030MI). AS I WAS TURNING RIGHT,WENT OVER A CURB. CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED RUNNING. EVERYTHING IN CAR WENT OUT AS IF SOMEONE PULLED AN ELECTRICAL PLUG. I TURNED KEY TO OFF & WAS ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY RESTART.BROUGHT CAR TO FISCHER HONDA,YPSILANTI,MI.SERVICE DEPT SAID THAT THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG.I THOUGHT THEY CALLED TECH SUPPORT. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE CAR BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. 2ND INCIDENT OCCURRED SEPT 13,2005(~7665MI).AS WAS TURNING LEFT FROM TURN LANE,CAR STALLED IN ON-COMING TRAFFIC,CAUSING A NEAR-ACCIDENT.PUT CAR IN PARK,TURNED KEY TO OFF,&RESTARTED CAR IMMEDIATELY.BROUGHT CAR TO HOWARD COOPER HONDA SERVICE,ANN ARBOR,MI NEXT MORNING.I FILED CASE # &COMPLAINT W/AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR CO. DEALER CALLED SAYING FOUND NOTHING WRONG&THAT I NEEDED TO PICK UP CAR.WE ARGUED THAT NEEDED FURTHER EXPLORATION OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE,NOT JUST FOR US BUT POTENTIALLY OTHER ODYSSEY OWNERS. WE WERE PARTICULARLY CONCERNED WHEN OUR INTERNET SEARCH FOUND NHTSA RECALL ID#05V132000.WE MENTIONED THIS RECALL BUT SVC DEALER SAID OUR VIN DIDN'T FALL WITHIN RECALL RANGE& THAT IT DEFINITELY COULDN'T BE OUR FUSE BOX.WE ASKED IF THEY TESTED OUR FUSE BOX DIRECTLY.THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T. FINALLY,HONDA DEALER PROVIDED RENTAL CAR WHILE THEY DROVE CAR FOR A WEEK(~270 MILES)CHECKING FOR STALL.THEY CHANGED ON BOARD COMPUTERS DATA CAPTURE TO RECORD FOR STALL.THEY CALLED HONDA TECH SUPPORT WHO STATED THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF STALL COMPLAINT.THEY SAID COULDN'T FIX MY CAR SINCE THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG.WE'VE CALLED AMER. HONDA MOTOR CO. CUST. SVC. MANY TIMES WITHOUT AVAIL. DESPITE SAYING THEY'D CONTACT HONDA DEALER,THEY NEVER COORDINATED A RESOLUTION. WE DON'T FEEL THEY'VE CONSIDERED THE POTENTIALLY DEADLY CONSEQUENCES OF DRIVING CAR THAT STALLS SUDDENLY WHILE BEING DRIVEN. WE'RE TOLD TO CALL IMMEDIATELY IF STALLS AGAIN. WE'RE AFRAID TO DRIVE. THE NEXT STALL COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS CASUALTY. *NM
THE CONSUMER IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS GOING 45 MPH OR GREATER THE RPM'S DROPS DOWN TO ABOUT 1400 RPM'S. WHEN SHIFTING INTO OVER DRIVE. THE ENGINE BEGINS TO VIBRATES AND WILL CONTINUE UP TO 55 MPH. WHEN ACCELERATING ABOVE 55 MPH THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARS. OWNER HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND HAS ALSO CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. NEITHER HAS A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
THIS CAR HASN'T WORKED SINCE WE FIRST GOT IT ON THE LOT. ALL THE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN ELECTRICAL. FIRST PROBLEM NOTED WAS THE RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR NOT OPENING WHEN THE BUTTON WAS PRESSED. IT WOULD OPEN ABOUT 1/4 INCH AND THEN START BEEPING. IT THEN IS STUCK AND THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN IT IS TO MANUALLY PULL THE DOOR OPEN. SIMILAR PROBLEM ON THE LEFT SIDE, BUT WHEN IT HAPPENS ON THE LEFT PASSENGER DOOR, THE WHOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FREEZES UP - CAN'T OPEN OR SHUT THE DOOR, CAN'T LOCK/UNLOCK DOORS. MUST SHUT CAR DOWN AND RE-START. SPARE TIRE CAME LOOSE AND CAUSE LOUD RATTLING IN BACK LEFT PART OF CAR. SIX WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE, WENT ON TRIP. RETURNED TO AIRPORT & CAR WAS DEAD. GOT A JUMP. NEXT DAY NOTICED THAT BACK-UP BEEPERS/SENSORS NOT WORKING. AT ONE POINT, A TROUBLE LIGHT ON THE DASH LIT UP FOR NO REASON & DIDN'T GO OUT FOR A FEW WEEKS. JUST TRIED OUT THE CRUISE CONTROL A FEW WEEKS AGO - IT DOESN'T WORK. THIS CAR IS A LEMON.
FORWARDED FROM CPSC - LETTER FROM CONGRESSMAN ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE A PROBLEM WITH HIS 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY WHICH WAS COVERED IN A 2006 "TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN" (TSB) WHICH WAS AVAILABLE TO DEALERS BUT NOT TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE MOTOR MOUNT BROKE AND IT WOULD COST $880 PLUS TO FIX IT. THE CONSUMER STATED HE EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE VAN, THE NIGHT HE PURCHASED IT, BUT THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT. NOW, HE HAS SINCE DISCOVERED, IT WAS THE BROKEN MOTOR MOUNT ALL ALONG. *JB
I PURCHASED A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY OCTOBER 2004. WITHIN WEEKS AND TO THIS DAY I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM; THIS IS AFTER NUMEROUS REPLACEMENTS OF BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. THE FRONT BRAKES REPEATEDLY MAKE A GRINDING NOISE WHEN MAKING A HARD STOP OR STOPPING ON A DOWNWARD SLOPE, NOTICED MORE IN THE SUMMER. THE DEFECT IN THE BRAKES FEEL AS IF THE BRAKES ARE GOING TO FAIL; I HAVE TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE BECAUSE I FEEL THE PEDAL GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE REAR BRAKES ALSO ARE DEFECTIVE AND ARE NOISY WHEN APPLIED AND THE CAR IS MAKING A TURN. I HAVE ADDRESSED THE ISSUE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WITH THE DEALER. INITIALLY, I WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKE PADS WERE FAULTY AND WOULD BE REPLACED. AFTER THEY WERE REPLACED, THE PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN. THE DEALER HAS ADMITTED THAT THE ODYSSEY AS BRAKING PROBLEMS, BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED SO THEIR HANDS ARE TIED, I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THAT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, TO BEING TOLD MY BRAKES MUST HAVE BEEN DUSTY, AND/OR THAT THEY JUST NEEDED AN ADJUSTMENT. ONE THING THOUGH, THE BRAKES HAVE NEVER BEEN REPLACED BEING THEY WERE WORN TO THE POINT OF NEEDING REPLACEMENT. I KNOW I AM NOT THE FIRST TO COMPLAIN IN REGARDS TO THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE. WHY DOESN'T THE NHTSA ENFORCE ITS AUTHORITY AND DEMAND THAT THIS PROBLEM IS RESOLVED IN THE 2005 ODYSSEY MINIVANS? *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2,837 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115. STEERING WHEEL SHAKE AT 50+ MPH SINCE NEW. DEALER NOT RECEPTIVE TO COMPLAINTS DURING FIRST FEW VISITS AND RECALL SERVICE VISITS. WEEK OF 11-12-06 DEALER WILL TEST DRIVE DUE TO 'SERVICE BULLETIN' FROM HONDA. WE HAVE BEEN PUTTING UP WITH THIS WHEEL SHAKE FOR TWO YEARS. *JB
HAVE A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN, IT HESITATES, OR HAS A FLAT SPOT WHEN ACCELERATING AT STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT. HAVE HAD TROUBLE SOON AFTER PURCHASE, AND DOES IT WAY TO OFTEN. HAD A 2002 ODYSSEY WHICH DID THE SAME THING SO I REPLACED IT WITH THE 2005 AND STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. YET THE HONDA DEALER TELLS ME THEY HAVE HAD NO OTHER REPORTS ABOUT SUCH A PROBLEM. THERE IS TREMENDOUS AIR PRESSURE INSIDE, WHICH IS MAKING THE OWNER HAVE EAR PAIN DISTRACTING HIM FROM THE ROAD WHEN DRIVING. THE REAR WINDSHIELD WIPERS SOMETIMES COME ON BY THEMSELVES. WHEN THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO TURN THEM OFF, THEY CONTINUED TO OPERATE. THE SWITCH DIDN'T APPEAR TO WORK PROPERLY. *JB *SC *JB
I PURCHASED A 2005 HONDA ODESSEY. I REQUESTED A MOON ROOF AS A HONDA OPTION. I WAS NOT TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT AN OPTION ON THE MODEL THAT I HAD SELECTED. I WAS GIVEN AN AFTER MARKET MOON ROOF. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE AN OVER HEAD DVD PLAYER INSTALLED AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE MAIN OVERHEAD BEAM WAS CUT TO INSTALL THE MOON ROOF AND THAT WHAT WAS LEFT OF THE BEAM WAS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD THE DVD PLAYER. I BEGAN TO QUESTION THE QUALITY OF WORK THAT WAS DONE TO INSTALL THE MOON ROOF AND I WAS THEN TOLD IT WAS AFTER MARKET. I ASKED THE DEALER AND HONDA TO CERTIFY THAT THE INSTALLATION WAS SAFE. THEY BOTH REFUSED. I HAVE SINCE EXPLAINED MY CONCERNS ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE ESPECIALLY IN TURN OVER SITUATIONS. HONDA AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING. I AM VERY CONCERN ABOUT THE INSTALLATION AND I WANT HONDA TO TAKE BACK THE VEHICLE SINCE I BOUGHT HONDA BUT I WAS SOLD A HONDA VEHICLE WITH AN AFTER MARKET MOON ROOF. NOT ONLY THIS BUT I DON'T HAVE A HONDA WARRANTY ON THE MOONROOF. THE ONLY WARRANTY I HAVE IS WITH THE DEALERSHIP. I AM CURRENTLY PREGNANT AND I ALREADY HAVE 2 CHILDREN. THE MINIVAN IS A VEHICLE FOR MY FAMILY. I DON'T THINK THE MINI VAN IS SAFE IN CASE OF A CRASH OR ROLL OVER. I SAY THIS BECAUSE IF THE BEAM IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD A DVD PLAYER THEN IN CASE OF A ROLL OVER OR CRASH THE ROOF WILL COME IN ON ME AND MY CHILDREN. *AK *BF *NM
HONDA ODYSSEY EX 2005, PROBLEM WITH ADJUSTMENTS STRAPS. *BF THE THIRD ROW SEATS ARE EQUIPPED WITH TWO ADJUSTMENT STRAPS ON EACH SIDE TO ADJUST THE ANGLE OF THE SEAT BACKS. WHEN THE STRAPS ARE PULLED WITH THE SEAT EMPTY, THE SEAT WILL SLAM SOWN ON THE SEAT BOTTOM WITH INCREDIBLE FORCE. *JB

THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELT CAME OUT OF THE DOOR JAM WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS LEANING FORWARD. THE PASSENGER DOOR MAKE NOISE WHEN OPENED OR CLOSED.
2005 ODYSSEY HAD A INCREASE IN BRAKING DISTANCE. *TS ***NAR*** THE VEHICLE WOULD STOP FAR SHORT OF THE CONSUMERS INTENDED STOP. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD PRODUCE A LOW FREQUENCY NOISE WHILE IN LOW GEAR. *JB

IT WAS REPLACED, HOWEVER THE NOISE AND SHAKING CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE HAD RUN FLAT TIRES, SO IF THE TIRES BECAME FLAT THE CONSUMER COULD DRIVE UP TO 50 MILES, HOWEVER WHEN THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED A FLAT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE TIRE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE NEEDED ANOTHER CATALYTIC CONVERTER.
