(1) WE WERE DRIVING TODAY ABOUT 35 MPH AND THE SIGNAL LIGHT TURNED RED. WE PROCEEDED TO STOP AND OUR BRAKES STARTED MAKING A GRINDING/CLUNKING SOUND. IT ALSO PREVENTED US TO SLOW DOWN OUR VAN NORMALLY....IN OTHER WORDS....INCREASED THE DISTANCE BEFORE OUR VAN STOPPED. (2) WE JUST ABOUT WENT INTO THE 4-WAY INTERSECTION, BUT WE DIDN'T. (3) OUR DEALERSHIP HAS LOOKED AT OUR BRAKES A COUPLE WEEKS AGO AND DID NOT FIND A PROBLEM. THEY SPOKE TO A COUPLE HONDA ENGINEERS WHO WERE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE WITH OTHER 05 ODYSSEY MINIVANS. THEY STATED HONDA IS WORKING ON A SOLUTION TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND THE ISSUE DOES NOT EFFECT THE VANS STOPPING PERFORMANCE. THIS IS NOT TRUE AS I HAVE HAD SLAM ON MY BRAKES A FEW WEEKS BACK DUE TO SOMEONE PULLING OUT IN FRONT OF ME AND IT DID THE SAMETHING WITH THE GRINDING/CLUNKING. I ALMOST HIT THE OTHER CAR DUE TO THE INCREASED BRAKING DISTANCE. THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER 05 ODYSSEY ON HTTP://WWW.ODYCLUB.COM/FORUMS THAT HAVE THE SAME BRAKING ISSUE. WE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE ABOUT 7 TIMES NOW. HONDA NEEDS TO RECALL THESE BRAKE PADS/CALIPERS OR WHATEVER IS CAUSING THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED!!! *JB
I PURCHASED A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING MODEL IN AUGUST 2005. WITHIN DAYS, I BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH A GRINDING NOISE IN THE FRONT BRAKES WHEN MAKING A HARD STOP OR STOPPING ON A DOWNWARD SLOPE. I HAVE ADDRESSED THE ISSUE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WITH THE DEALER. INITIALLY, I WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKE PADS WERE FAULTY AND WOULD BE REPLACED. AFTER THEY WERE REPLACED, THE PROBLEM STARTED AGAIN. NEXT THE DEALER TOLD ME THERE WAS GRAVEL IN THE PAD. THE LAST TIME I WENT IN, THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. I ASKED THEM HOW MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS THEY HAD ON THIS ISSUE AND I DID NOT GET A RESPONSE. THE MANAGER BECAME HOSTILE AND WAS EXTREMELY RUDE. EVERYTIME I TAKE IT IN, I AM TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG BUT MYSTERIOUSLY, THE BRAKES ARE BETTER FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. I FEEL AS IF I PAID $37,000 FOR A VEHICLE THAT MAY NOT EVEN BE SAFE. HONDA MUST BE MADE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE RESOLVED TO TRADE THE VEHICLE IN AND BUY ANOTHER BRAND AS THE DEALER REFUSES TO HELP AND HAS RESORTED TO BEING DOWN RIGHT HOSTILE ABOUT THE SITUATION. *TR
WINDSHIELD CRACK FROM THE LOWER PASSENGER SIDE AND SPREAD UPWARDS FOR ABOUT ANOTHER 9 INCHES.
I PURCHASED 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY VEHICLE ON MAY 31, 2005. BY AUGUST THE VAN HAD BEEN DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 3000 MILES WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES HAD STARTED MAKING SCRAPING NOISES. IT SOUNDED AS IF THERE IS SAND OR DIRT ON THE BRAKE PADS. ALSO, WHEN THE BRAKES WERE USED TO MAKE A SUDDEN STOP THE FRONT BRAKES WOULD GRIND. IT WAS INTERMITTENT AT FIRST, BY 5000 MILES IT HAD BECOME A REGULARITY WHILE BRAKING. I REPORTED THIS TO MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD HONDA WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WAS WORKING ON A SOLUTION. I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING TO DATE. *NM
LOAD WIND NOISE FROM BOTH FRONT DOORS, STICKING OF AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS AND FAULTY WEATHER STRIPPING BOTH SLIDING DOORS. MULTIPLE TRIPS TO DEALER. BOTH FRONT DOORS MOUNTED INCORRECTLY RESULTING IN IMPROPER SEAL. MECHANISM FOR BOTH SLIDING DOORS REPLACED DUE TO FAULTY PARTS. WEATHER STRIPPING REPLACED LOWER PART OF BOTH SLIDERS REPLACED AND ALREADY STARTING TO FAIL AGAIN-PULLING AWAY FROM BASE BOARD. AFTER MANY TRIPS TO DEALER DOOR ISSUES REPAIRED AND THE VAN IS FINALLY QUIET AGAIN. *JB
FRONT DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN IN "UN-LOCKED" POSITION. TAKEN TO DEALER WHO SAID THAT A CABLE BROKE FROM WEAR AND TEAR. WE DO NOT EXCESSIVELY OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR. HAD TO PAY FOR REPLACEMENT OF DOOR PANEL DUE TO DEALER DESTROYING IT TO GET TO THE CABLE. *TR
DT: CONTACT TOOK HIS CAR TO THE SERVICE DEALERSHIP ON 8-1-05 BECAUSE HEARD A BUBBLING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS VIBRATION THAT WAS COMING FROM THE FUEL TANK. THE CONSUMER ASKED FOR A LOANER VEHICLE AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE, AND WOULD NOT GIVE HIM A LOANER. THE DEALER COULD NOT GIVE CONTACT A SPECIFIC TIME WHEN THE CAR WILL BE REPAIRED, AND THEY WANTED HIM TO DRIVE AROUND WITH THIS FUEL TANK PROBLEM. MANUFACTURER SAID IF THE DEALER FELT IT WAS SAFE, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THERE HAD BEEN OTHER HONDAS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM.*AK
2000 HONDA ODYSSEY DEVELOPED A PROBLEM WITH FILLING THE 20 GALLON GASOLINE TANK. *MR *SC
WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES FAIRLY HARD (BUT NOT SLAMMING THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR), THE FRONT BRAKES SOUND LIKE THEY ARE GRINDING. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE HONDA DEALER TWICE WITH THIS COMPLAINT AND THEY SAID THEY HEAR THIS COMPLAINT REGULARLY AND ARE WAITING ON HONDA TO ADDRESS IT. THE DEALER CLAIMS THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. *NM

MULTIPLE ISSUES AND INCIDENTS. OVERALL SIGNIFICANT COOLING SYSTEM DESIGN FLAWS COMBINED WITH TOW PACKAGE INSTALL MISTAKES LEAVE THE COOLING LINES UN-SECURE AND UNPROTECTED. 2 AC LINE PUNCTURES, 5 POWER STEERING GRINDING REPAIR ATTEMPTS TO NO AVAIL. *NM
WINDSHIELD LEAKS/WHISTLES NEEDS REPLACEMENT PARTS/ NONE AVAILABLE NATIONWIDE.
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON JULY 25, 2005. HE STATED THAT WITH ONLY 750 MILES ON THE VEHICLE THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THREE PEOPLE FROM THE DEALERSHIP DID AN INVESTIGATION ,TWO PEOPLE CONFIRMED THE FAILURE AND ONE DID NOT. THE VEHICLE WAS MAKING A SOUND WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, IT LIKE A VERY LOUD HUMMING NOISE. HE HEARD THE NOISE THE DAY BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AT 40 MPH, AND THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME HE HAD HEARD THE NOISE AT A LOW SPEED. IT OCCURRED MORE TRAVELING UP OR DOWN A HILL OR WHEN YOU PUT STRESS ON THE ENGINE. THE DEALERSHIP DID SOME ADDITIONAL TESTING AND DID NOT HEAR THE NOISE THE FIRST TIME. THEY DID NOT HEAR IT THE SECOND TIME. THE THIRD TIME THEY DID HEAR THE NOISE. AFTER THE ADDITIONAL TESTING THEY FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS ONE OTHER COMPLAINTS FILED WITH THE NHTSA ON THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. INITIALLY, THIS VEHICLE WOULD DO THIS SOUND MORE OFTEN AT HIGHER SPEEDS. BUT SOMETIMES IT OCCURRED AT LOWER SPEEDS AS WELL. *AK
I PURCHASED A NEW 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY EXL-RES ON 7/21/05 AND I'VE HAD A CONSISTENT PROBLEM EVER SINCE. FROM THE FIRST DAY I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE FROM CLINTON HONDA'S PARKING LOT I IMMEDIATELY EXPERIENCED EXCESSIVE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION. IT WAS HORRIBLE AND STARTED AT 65 MPH AND CONTINUED TO 75 MPH. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THE VERY NEXT DAY AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS OUT OF BALANCED WHEELS -- EACH WHEEL WAS OFF BY 30 GRAMS. THAT SAME DAY I TOOK THE VEHICLE HOME AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKED TO SPEAK WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THE WHEELS ZEROED OUT AND HE DIDN'T FEEL THERE WAS ANYTHING ELSE HE COULD DO. I INSISTED THAT HE REPAIR THE PROBLEM SO HE TOLD ME TO COME BACK A WEEK LATER AFTER HE SENT A MECHANIC OUT FOR TRAINING ON THEIR HUNTER WHEEL BALANCING MACHINE. I RETURNED A WEEK LATER AND THIS TIME THEY ROAD-FORCED BALANCED THE TIRES AND FOUND THEM TO BE 10 GRAMS OFF EACH SIDE. THEY ALSO FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE ISSUE WHICH SUGGESTED A TOE ADJUSTMENT -- WHICH THEY PERFORMED. I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN EXPECTING THE PROBLEM TO BE RESOLVED BUT IT WASN'T. INSTEAD, I NOW HAVE AN ADDITIONAL PROBLEM WHERE THE VEHICLE PULLS EXCESSIVELY TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT DEPENDING ON THE CURVATURE OF THE ROAD --WHEREAS BEFORE IT WOULD KEEP ITS INTENDED COURSE. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN -- THIS TIME TO SPEAK WITH MY SALES PERSON AND THE SALES MANAGER. THE SALES PERSON ACCOMPANIED ME FOR A TEST DRIVE TO WITNESS THE PROBLEM. HE NOTICED THE PROBLEM AS I DID SO HE SUGGESTED THAT WE TEST DRIVE ANOTHER ODYSSEY TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM IS SYSTEMATIC. WE DROVE A GOLD COLOR ODYSSEY (BOTH HIM AND I) AND THAT VEHICLE DID NOT EXHIBIT THE PROBLEM. ALSO, I MENTIONED TO THE SALES PERSON THAT THE SLIVER DEMO I INITIALLY DROVE DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM EITHER. *NM
EXPERIENCING A VERY LOUD BUZZING NOISE IN THE SPEAKERS. PROBLEMS STARTED BACK IN JULY OF 05' @7600 MILES. NOISE WOULD BE INTERMITTENT - DEALER REPLACED 1ST SET OF REAR SPEAKERS. 4 DAYS LATER VEHICLE BATTERY RAN DOWN WHILE SITTING IN THE GARAGE. I CHARGED BATTERY AND DROVE VEHICLE TO A DRIVE-IN MOVIE WHERE BATTERY RAN DOWN AGAIN, WITH-IN THE COURSE OF A TWO HOUR MOVIE. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY - TESTED SYSTEM AND NO PROBLEMS FOUND. 10 DAYS LATER @8500 MILES VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP BUZZING - THE BUZZING NOISE WAS SO LOUD, THAT THE KIDS WERE COMPLAINING THAT IT WAS HURTING THEIR EARS. --ONLY WAY TO STOP NOISE WAS TO SPEED VEHICLE UP OR LET OFF THE GAS PEDAL. -- SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPLACED BOTH REAR SPEAKERS AGAIN AND THE ACTIVE NOISE CONTROL UNIT. APPEARED THAT PROBLEM WAS FIXED UNTIL IT STARTED AGAIN IN DEC. OF 05' AT 12500- SHOP REPLACED LT. FRONT SPEAKER. IT HAS MADE THE LOUD BUZZING NOISE AGAIN - BUT UNABLE TO DUPLICATE WHILE IN SHOP. *NM
BRAKE AND TRANSMISSION FAILURE OF HONDA ODYSSEY. WE LEASED A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY FROM HONDA WEST IN LAS VEGAS ON THE 21ST OF JUNE 2005. THIS IS 2005 MODEL. THE VIN # IS: [XXX] IN A WEEK, WE FOUND A DEFECTIVE BRAKE THAT WAS CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM TO STOP THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY INFORMED THE DEALER AND IT APPEARED THEY DID NOT PAY THAT MUCH ATTENTION. I MYSELF WAS VERY CONFUSED AS I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT HONDA MAKES ONE OF THE SAFEST CARS IN THE WORLD. MY WIFE IS THE PRIMARY DRIVER AND SHE IS A 1ST YEAR RESIDENT AT THE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER, LAS VEGAS, NV. AFTER WORKING SHE WAS DRIVING THE CAR TO HOME AND SHE TRIED TO STOP THE CAR AT RED LIGHT AND THE CAR DID NOT STOP. SHE RAN RED LIGHT AND BY THE GRACE OF GOD A DISASTROUS ACCIDENT WAS AVOIDED. THIS IS A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH. SO, SHE WENT TO THE DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND THEY WERE NOT POLITE AND WERE NOT IN A POSITION TO LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, SHE FORCED THEM TO LOOK INTO IT AND AFTER TWO DAYS OF INVESTIGATION THEY FOUND THAT THE BRAKE WAS NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY AT THE MANUFACTURING PLANT. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO HAS THE SIMILAR KIND OF PROBLEM, WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE WILL NOT ACCELERATE BUT WHEN TRYING TO PUSH THE BRAKE WILL ACCELERATE. WE HAVE ALREADY INFORMED AMERICAN HONDA AND UNFORTUNATELY THEY WILL NOT LISTEN.THE CAR IS STILL WITH THE DEALER. AS A RESPONSIBLE CITIZEN OF THE COUNTRY I FEEL OBLIGATED TO LET YOU KNOW THE SAFETY ISSUE OF HONDA. IT IS IRONIC THAT THE AMERICAN CAR MANUFACTURERS EASILY ADMIT THEIR SAFETY PROBLEM WHEREAS THE JAPANESE MAKERS WILL NOT ADMIT SUCH BECAUSE OF BUSINESS ISSUE. MY QUESTION IS: WHICH ONE SHOULD COME FIRST THE SAFETY OF THE CITIZENS OR THE MONEY? I WILL HIGHLY APPRECIATE THAT YOU LOOK INTO THIS MATTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO PREVENT A DISASTROUS ACCIDENT ELSE WHERE IN THE COUNTRY. INTERMITTENT GRINDING NOISE FROM FRONT AND REAR BRAKES, ASSOCIATED WITH DELAYED STOPPING AND BRAKE FEELING "SOFT". DEALER STATED "GRAVEL IN BRAKES". UNABLE TO REPRODUCE AT DEALERS. MULTIPLE TRIPS TO DEALER AND FINALLY REPRODUCED. INFORMED THAT WAS CAUSED BY FAULTY BRAKE PADS AND HONDA NEEDED TO DEVELOP IMPROVED PADS. 9 MONTHS BEFORE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT NEW PADS WERE AVAILABLE, DESPITE MULTIPLE CALLS AND VISITS TO THE DEALER. ALL FOUR PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED. IT FEELS LIKE A NEW BRAKING SYSTEM. *JB
HONDA ODYSSEY AIR CONDITIONER STOPPED WORKING ONE DAY. TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL PRINCETON HONDA DEALER IN NJ. HE SAID ITS BECAUSE OF A LEAK IN THE CONDENSER AND THAT A STONE FROM THE ROAD HIT THE CAR AND THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I FOUND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT A STONE WOULD CAUSE THIS. CALLED HONDA AMERICA CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY GAVE ME THE SAME REASON. IT COST ME ABOUT $850 TO REPLACE THE CONDENSER. THEN I RESEARCHED AND FOUND OUT THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH THE HONDA ODYSSEY. MY 14-YEAR OLD BECAME ENTANGLED IN THE SEAT BELT IN THE 3RD ROW PASSENGER-SIDE SEAT OF OUR NEW HONDA ODYSSEY VAN. THE SEAT BELT WAS WRAPPED AROUND HIS WAIST. THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT ALLOW US TO GAIN ANY SLACK TO LOOSEN THE BELT. ALL ATTEMPTS TO LOOSEN (BY FEEDING IN SLACK TO GAIN RELEASE) ONLY MADE THE BELT TIGHTER UNTIL MY CHILD WAS LITERALLY HANGING FROM THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED ON AN INTERSTATE, 8 HOURS FROM HOME. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO CUT THE BELT TO RELEASE HIM. (I HAPPENED TO HAVE A KNIFE IN THE CAR, WHICH IS VERY UNUSUAL.) I HAVE ASKED HONDA TO REPAIR THE BELT. THEY HAVE OFFERED 50% ONLY. I AM MORE CONCERNED THAT THERE IS NOT A MANUAL OVERRIDE TO ALLOW THE SEAT BELT TO BE RELEASED. I UNDERSTAND NOW THAT THE SEAT BELT GOES INTO A DIFFERENT MODE WHEN EXTENDED ALL THE WAY. IT WILL NOT RELEASE UNTIL THE BELT IS RETRACTED ALL THE WAY. IT SOUNDS LIKE HONDA HAS FIXED A SAFETY ISSUE CONCERNING CHILD CAR SEATS, BUT THEY HAVE CREATED A NEW SAFETY HAZARD FOR ALL CHILDREN. WHAT IF THE BELT HAD GOTTEN WRAPPED AROUND HIS NECK? ANY CHILD PLACED IN A SEAT BELT HAS THE POTENTIAL OF PULLING THE SEAT BELT OUT ALL OF THE WAY AND ALLOWING IT TO GET WRAPPED AROUND THEIR BODY OR NECK.*JB
I PURCHASED A NEW 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L IN DECEMBER 2004, AND I HAVE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE INCIDENTS IN WHICH THE BRAKES MAKE A VERY LOUD GRINDING NOISE WITH MEDIUM HARD BRAKING. THE GRINDING HAS NOT RESULTED IN ANY APPARENT LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY OR LOSS OF CONTROL HOWEVER THIS IS A CONCERN TO ME SINCE I DRIVE WITH A 5 YEAR OLD IN MY CARE. I TOOK THE ODYSSEY TO THE SERVICE CENTER IN MAY O5 FOR THIS ISSUE AND THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE PADS AND RESURFACED THE ROTORS. AGAIN THIS MONTH (JULY) I NOTICED THE PROBLEM AGAIN, I TOOK IT IN TWO DAYS AGO AND HONDA REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM SAYING THAT I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SEPTEMBER TO HAVE THE ISSUE RESOLVED. THEY TELL US THAT THEY WON'T HAVE THE PARTS IN UNTIL THEN. I FEEL THAT THEY ARE AVOIDING THE FIXING THE PROBLEM AS TO AVOID THE LEMON LAW SINCE THIS IS THEIR SECOND TIME FIXING THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SEVERAL OTHER ISSUES BEFORE THIS SUCH AS BROKEN CD PLAYER....SLOW DRAINING OF BATTERY, AND PROBLEMS WITH DVD AND VEHICLE INTERIOR. OVERALL I AM VERY CONCERERNED WHEN MY CAR IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES AND THIS COMPANY REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM.....I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE BUT DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY FOR A RENTAL UNTIL SEPTEMBER.

HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT REDESIGNED THE PADS. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THE MANUFACTURER TOLD HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP FOR A SECOND OPINION. WHEN BRAKING, SEVERE GRINDING NOISE RIGHT FRONT. DEALER SAID CALIPERS WERE LEAKING ON TO PADS CAUSING NOISE. REPLACED CALIPERS AND PADS. LASTED A WEEK, SAME NOISE, DEALER AGAIN REPLACED PADS AND CALIPERS. SAID THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF COMPLAINTS BUT DON'T KNOW WHY IT IS HAPPENING. NOT A SAFE CONDITION. *NM
WHILE ON A ROADTRIP, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON. DEALER REPLACED EGR VALVE BECAUSE THERE WAS A PIECE OF METAL STUCK ON IT. ON THE RETURN TRIP, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AGAIN. MECHANICS AT THE DEALER HAVE FOUND LARGE QUANTITIES OF METAL IN THE ENGINE. MECHANICS HAVE NOT SEEN THIS PROBLEM PREVIOUSLY AND IS CURRENTLY COMMUNICATING WITH HONDA ENGINEERS REGARDING THIS MATTER.
DT: THE PROBLEM BEGAN LAST OCTOBER THERE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE DOOR BEING LOOSE FROM THE TRACK. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO DEALER 5 TIMES. THE DEALER JUST TIGHTENED THE BOLTS. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO HONDA. UPON INVESTIGATION THE OWNER FOUND OUT THAT OTHERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS 99V15800 AND 99V159000. HONDA DENIED ANY PROBLEMS. HONDA STATED THAT THERE WERE NOT ENOUGH COMPLAINTS TO CAUSE A RECALL. SOMETIMES THE CHILD HAS TO HOLD THE DOOR SO IT WONT COME OPEN. THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE FIRST DAY. CONDENSER PROBLEMS.. IN HOT JUNE - THE FIRST DAY THAT TEMPERATURES WERE ALMOST 100 DEGREES WE EXPERIENCE OUR FIRST SET OF MANY PROBLEM WITH THIS VAN. WE HAD OWNED VEHICLE FOR 2 MONTHS AND ONLY PUT 2700 MILES ON IT. WE HAD EXPERIENCE A CONDENSER EXPLOSION. WE WERE SITTING @ STOP LIGHT AND I HEARD A POP AND STEAM ROLLED ALL AROUND VEHICLE. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO SHOP TO FIND OUT THAT CONDENSER HAD A BAD SPOT IN IT AND WOULD BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. BEFORE IT WAS DECLARED THAT IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY - WE KEEP BEING THREATEN BY SERVICE WRITER IF IT'S NOT WARRANTY RELATED THAT I WOULD OWE CHECKOUT FEES, WHAT IT WOULD TAKE TO FIX IT AND THE COMPLETE RENTAL BILL. APPEARS THAT FRONT BUMPER AND CONDENSER DESIGN WAS NOT THOUGHT OUT. I AGREE WITH THE OTHER COMPLAINTS THAT A GRILLE OR A MESH AREA SHOULD COVER THE LARGE OPENING. TAILGATE CLOSED UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE I WAS STANDING UNDERNEATH WHILE LOADING GROCERIES. 1.) THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. UNTIL THIS POINT THE TAILGATE HAD FUNCTIONED NORMALLY IN THE MANUAL OR AUTOMATIC OPEN/CLOSE MODE. 2.) AFTER THE TAILGATE FELL IT NEVER WORKED AGAIN UNTIL I MADE REPAIRS TO THE HOLD OPEN STRUT. 3.) I CHECKED THE STRUTS AND FOUND THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE STRUT HAD FAILED. THE STRUT HAD NO PRESSURE LEFT INSIDE TO PUSH OUT THE ROD THAT HOLDS THE TAILGATE OPEN. THE PASSENGER SIDE STRUT WAS OK AND I DID NOT REPLACE THIS. I PURCHASED A REPLACEMENT STRUT FROM MY HONDA DEALER. TURNED OFF POWER MECHANISM. DOOR SLID AJAR WHEN DRIVING UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES AND WITH CHILDREN ON BOARD FORTUNATELY WITH SEAT BELTS ON. 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING WITH 3000 MILES. THE LEFT SIDE PASSENGER POWER SLIDING DOOR OPENED COMPLETELY WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION TODAY 05/21/05. THE DOOR WAS CLOSED AND LOCKED BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. THE DOOR OPEN INDICATOR ON THE MID DID NOT GO ON BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. THE DOOR OPEN INDICATOR ON THE MID SHOWED ONLY WHEN THE DOOR FLEW OPEN. THE POWER MECHANISM HAD BEEN TURNED OFF. MY EIGHT YEAR OLD SON WAS SITTING IN THE LEFT SIDE SECOND ROW SEAT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. HE WAS WEARING HIS SEATBELT. NO PERSON OR THING FELL OUT OF THE CAR. WHEN I BEGAN THIS TRIP THE DOOR OPEN BUZZER WENT ON WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN DRIVE BUT NOT WHEN IN PARK. USING THE POWER MECHANISM THE DOOR DID NOT SEEM TO CLOSE COMPLETELY UNLESS I HELPED IT BY PUSHING. BUT AFTER A COUPLE OF SECONDS THE DOOR SEEMED TO POP OPEN A BIT AND IT OBVIOUSLY WAS NOT LATCHED. THE LOCK DID NOT HOLD AT ALL. ONE MONTH AGO THE OPEN DOOR BUZZER WAS GOING ON WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN DRIVE EVEN THOUGH THE DOORS WERE CLOSED. THE BUZZER SHUT OFF IF I TURNED THE POWER DOOR MECHANISM OFF. THIS WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. I ALSO HAD SOME PROBLEMS CLOSING THE LEFT SIDE DOOR MANUALLY. THE LAP/SHOULDER BELT IN THE CENTER POSITION OF THE THIRD ROW SEAT WAS ANCHORED WITH THE ANCHOR LATCH. MY 2 1/2 YR OLD CHILD PULLED THE SEAT BELT DOWN; SOMEHOW IT WRAPPED AROUND HIS NECK. THE SEAT BELT HAD BEEN PULLED OUT COMPLETELY, SO IT WAS LOCKED. THE AUTOMATIC SEAT BELT TENSIONER WAS ACTIVATED AND THE BELT WAS TIGHT AROUND HIS NECK. THANKFULLY, HE MADE ENOUGH NOISE TO AROUSE ATTENTION FROM A PERSON SITTING IN THE SECOND ROW. THERE WAS BARELY ENOUGH ROOM FOR MY FINGERS TO FIT BETWEEN THE BELT AND HIS NECK - WITH HIM LEANING COMPLETELY BACK ON HIS CARSEAT. THE ANCHOR CAN ONLY BE RELEASED USING THE LATCH PLATE, BUT THE BELT WAS TOO TIGHT. WE WERE FORCED TO CUT THE SEAT BELT TO RELIEVE THE TENSION ON HIS NECK. HE RECEIVED WELPS ON BOTH THE RIGHT AND LEFT SIDES OF HIS NECK. WE IMMEDIATELY FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL INCIDENT AS I AM ALMOST ALWAYS BY MYSELF WITH MY TRIPLET CHILDREN AND WOULD PROBABLY NOT HAVE SEEN NOR HEARD HIM!!! I HAVE A 2004 HONDA ODDYSEY. I BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 5-10 MILES PER HOUR AND CONTACTED A PARKED VEHICLE WITH THE BACK RIGHT CORNER OF MY VEHCLE. I HAD A CHILD SAFELTY SEAT LOACTED ON THE LEFT OF THE 3RD ROW OF SEATS WHICH WAS TETHERED TO THE BACK LEFT TETHER ATTACHMENT ON THE INSIDE OF THE BUMPER. UPON IMPACT, THE BOLT ATTACHING THE TETHER STRAP TO THE BUMPER CAME OUT, BASICALLY MAKING THE TETHER USELESS IN A CRASH. I HAD THE BOLT REPLACED AS IT WAS STRIPPED BY THE IMPACT. I HAD THROBBING IN MY EARS FOR SEVERAL DAYS AND IT FINALLY LED TO AN EAR INFECTION. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF DARLING'S HONDA (THE DEALERSHIP IN BANGOR, MAINE) AND TO AMERICAN HONDA. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TRIED FOR 3 MONTHS TO TRY TO FIND AN ALTERNATE VEHICLE FOR ME. HOWEVER, AMERICAN HONDA SAID THEY WOULD DO NOTHING AND THE VEHICLE DESIGN IS NOT DEFECTIVE, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE HEARD SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHERS. APPARENTLY RUPTURED OR PERFORATED EAR DRUMS ARE NOT CONSIDERED A HAZARD TO THE HONDA COMPANY. IT WAS DEEMED IN THE ARBITRATION HEARING THAT THESE BRAKES WERE INDEED A SAFETY ISSUE. POOR BRAKE PADS WHICH CAUSED WARPED ROTORS ARE DANGEROUS. VEHICLE DOES NOT STOP TIMELY. SOMEONE WILL GET KILLED. HONDA IS WELL AWARE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM ON THE 2005 AND 2006 ODYSSEY (MY PARENTS HAVE A 2006). WHEN I FIRST REPORTED IN APRIL 05, HONDA SAID THEY NEW OF THE PROBLEM, BUT CONTINUED TO SELL DANGEROUS VEHICLES. SUPPOSEDLY AS OF MARCH 06 THEY HAVE THE NEW PADS. IT SHOULD BE MANDATED THAT THEY NOTIFY EVERY 05 & 06 ODYSSEY OWNER AND ADVISE THEM OF THE POTENTIAL PROBLEM. PLEASE MAKE HONDA DO THIS BECAUSE THEY WON'T ON THEIR OWN. THE ENGINE OR HOT AIR FROM ENGINE HAS LEAKED INTO THE AIR INTAKE. IN ORDER TO BE COMFORTABLE IN VEHICLE, AIR CONDITIONER MUST BE USED EXCESSIVELY IN ORDER TO COOL DOWN CONSTANT FLOW OF HOT AIR COMING FROM VENT PIPE. THE PROBLEM IS MOST APPARENT WHEN VEHICLE IS STOPPED OR AT LOW SPEEDS. DEALER REPORTS THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING SINCE THIS IS A DESIGN PROBLEM. THIS LEADS TO DECREASED FUEL EFFICIENCY. *TT *NM

DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT STAYED ON. SHE RECEIVED A NHTSA RECALL 05V344000 CONCERNING THE AIR BAG SENSOR. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE AIR BAG SENSOR, BUT THE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. *AK UPDATED 12/11/2005. A HOLE IN THE UNDER SIDE OF THE BUMPER ALLOWED SMALL ROCKS AND PEDDLES IN THE BUMPER. THE WEATHER STRIPPING ON THE REAR DOORS IS PULLING AWAY AND BENDING OUTWARD. *NM
I BOUGHT MY HONDA ODYSSEY MINIVAN SPRING 2005 AND WE HAVE REPAIRED THE AIR CONDITIONER EVERY YEAR AND I HAVE COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY ALWAYS TELL ME A ROCK POPPED UP AND HIT THE SYSTEM SO THEY ARE NOT LIABLE I DON'T DRIVE MY CAR ON ROCKY ROADS BUT I SUPPOSE THAT COULD HAPPEN BUT EVERY YEAR ? I THINK IT IS HONDA'S STANDARD REPLY TO A PROBLEM THEY KNOW IS THEIR FAULT , I LOVE THE WAY MY VAN HANDLES, LOOKS AND REALLY EVERYTHING ABOUT IT EXCEPT IT IS GETTING OLD WHEN SPRING COMES AROUND TO BRING IT IN TO GET THE AIR CONDITIONER FIXED. *TR
