GROANING SOUND FROM POWER STEERING SYSTEM AND STEERING WHEEL HARD TO TURN AT LOW SPEEDS. TOOK VEHICLE TO HONDA DEALER KNOWING OTHER 2006 HONDA ODYSSEYS HAD POWER STEERING PROBLEMS AND THAT THE WARRANTY ON JUST THE POWER STEERING PUMP HAD BEEN EXTENDED TO 7 YEARS AND 100,000 MILES. I HOPED THE ISSUE WAS JUST THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND THAT THE WARRANTY WOULD COVER IT. OF COURSE NOT! THE PROBLEM IS APPARENTLY IN THE STEERING RACK AND WILL REQUIRE $1,200+ IN REPAIRS FOR A NEW ONE OR THE VAN WILL BE A SAFETY ISSUE. I'M VERY SUSPICIOUS THAT THEY HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE PUMP BUT NOT ON THE STEERING RACK. SINCE I DON'T WANT TO LOSE STEERING WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT, I AM FORCED TO HAVE THIS DEFECTIVE PART REPAIRED AT MY OWN COST. WITH ONLY 55,000 MILES ON THE VAN, THIS IS NOT THE KIND OF SAFETY OR QUALITY I WOULD HAVE EXPECTED FROM HONDA. *TR
2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH RACK AND PINION LEAKAGE. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HAVE A RECALL RECTIFIED REGARDING THE STEERING PUMP. HOWEVER, AS TIME WENT BY, HE BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING WHILE MAKING TURNS. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE LEAKING RACK AND PINION WAS RELATED TO THE STEERING PUMP AS THEY WERE INTEGRATED. *JB
INCIDENT DATE: TUESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2012 APPROXIMATELY 1PM TEMPERATURE: APPROXIMATELY 55 DEGREES ROAD CONDITION: DRY TIRES: GOODYEAR ASSURANCE FUEL MAX INSTALLED: SEPTEMBER 23, 2009 MILES ON TIRES AT TIME OF INCIDENT: 49,051 ESTIMATED TREAD LIFE LEFT: 4/32 NUMBER OF PERSONS IN VEHICLE: 2 ADULTS, 3 CHILDREN WHILE ON A LOCAL SHOPPING TRIP INCLUDING TRAVEL ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY THE RIGHT REAR TIRE OF THE VEHICLE BLEW OUT. WE HAD ENTERED THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AND HAD TRAVELED ABOUT 5 MILES. WHILE PASSING A SEMI AND IN THE LEFT LANE OF THE HIGHWAY, AT 70 MPH, THE RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE AND THE TIRE WAS SLAPPING THE UNDERSIDE OF THE FENDER. CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WAS MAINTAINED AND THE VEHICLE WAS SLOWED DOWN AND MOVED TO THE CENTER MEDIAN. WHEN TRAFFIC CLEARED, THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED SAFELY TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. AFTER EXITING THE VEHICLE, INSPECTION OF THE RIGHT REAR TIRE REVEALED A TOTAL BLOW OUT. THE OTHER MEMBERS EXITED THE VEHICLE AND REMAINED IN THE GRASS AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE THE TIRE WAS CHANGED. WHEN THE TIRE WAS CHANGED WE CONTINUED TO THE NEXT EXIT AND USED BACK ROADS TO RETURN HOME. NEW TIRES WERE PURCHASED ON TUESDAY, OCT 23, 2012. THE TIRE SPECIALIST INDICATED THAT THE PROBABLE CAUSE OF THE BLOW OUT WAS HITTING A POT HOLE. *TR
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT MY FRONT ENGINE MOTOR MOUNT HAS GONE BAD. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN IT REPLACED HOWEVER THEY ARE CHARGING MY $800.00 FOR IT. AFTER READING THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE IT SEEMS THAT HONDA 2005'S AND ABOVE ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THEM BREAKING MORE OFTEN THEN WHAT THEY SHOULD BE SINCE THE ACTUAL UNIT IS TUCKED UP RIGHT NEAR THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND THE RUBBER WEARS OUT QUICKLY. I HAVE NEVER EVER EXPERIENCED A CAR WHERE YOU HAD TO REPLACE THE MOUNT UNDER 100K MILES. *TR
HAVE HAD INTERMITTENT VIBRATION COMING FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT. PRIMARILY OCCURS AT ANY SPEED WHEN THE VCM OR ECO MODE ACTIVATES. NOT SURE WHAT OTHER ISSUES THIS MAY CAUSE BUT SEEMS UNSAFE. HONDA DEALER DIAGNOSED ISSUE AS A BROKEN REAR ENGINE MOUNT. COST TO REPAIR IS $866. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, BURNING FUMES STARTED TO EMIT INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REBUILT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,699 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
MY ODYSSEY'S MOTOR MOUNT FAILED LAST YEAR BEFORE I HIT 100,000. I WAS RECENTLY TOLD THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE OTHER THREE. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE, AND HONDA SHOULD RECALL THE VEHICLES FOR THIS DEFECT. *TR
LACK OF POWER STEERING. WE BOUGHT THIS VAN AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER, 2012. WE NOTICED THIS ISSUE WITHIN A FEW DAYS OF OWNING IT. THIS CONTINUES TO BE AN ON-GOING ISSUE AND IS HAPPENING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND AT VARIOUS TIMES. NOT JUST IN PARKING LOTS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE TURNS IN NORMAL DRIVING SETTINGS. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING INTO ROUND-ABOUTS. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE! I TRIED TO CONTACT HONDA VIA EMAIL ONCE WE BEGAN TO NOTICE IT AND GOT NO REPLY. I HAVE LOOKED AT DIFFERENT COMPLAINT WEBSITES AND SEE THIS A LOT. RECENTLY, WITH THE FUEL PUMP RECALL, I CALLED INTO HONDA DIRECTLY REGARDING THE FUEL PUMP. DURING THE CALL, I DESCRIBED THIS STEERING ISSUE TO THE REP. SHE SAID HONDA KNOWS OF IT AND WHAT THEY DID WAS TO EXTEND THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLES TO 100,000 MILES TO REPAIR IT. HOWEVER, IT WAS NOT REPAIRED IN ALL VEHICLES. THE ISSUE IS THAT PERIODICALLY THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM STOPS WORKING AND YOU MUST MANUALLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. WE HAVE SEVERAL CHILDREN IN OUR FAMILY. IT IS SCARY TO KNOW THAT THE STEERING COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT & CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. MANY HIGHWAYS NOW HAVE ROUND-ABOUTS AT THE EXITS. MANY TOWNS & CITIES ARE PUTTING IN ROUND-ABOUTS FOR TRAFFIC FLOW. I HAVE BEEN NOTICING THIS ISSUE WHEN COMING INTO ROUND-ABOUTS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE NHTSA NEEDS TO GET INVOLVED AND GET HONDA TO RECALL THESE BEFORE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH OCCURS. THANK YOU. *TR
I AM WRITING WITH REGARDS TO MY 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR A RECALL RELATED ISSUE WITH MY BRAKES AND WHILE FIXING IT, THEY NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD ISSUES WITH REAR ENGINE MOUNT. DEALER TOLD ME MY REAR ENGINE MOUNT IS BROKEN AND THAT'S WHY MY VEHICLE VIBRATES AND THAT WILL EVENTUALLY LEAD TO FAILURE WITH POWER STEERING, A/C, ENGINE, TRANSMISSION...ETC. SINCE THE VEHICLE CAN COME TO A HALT IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING IF LEFT UNATTENDED, I THINK THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN WITH ANY HONDA MINIVAN'S AND WANTED TO BRING THIS TO YOUR ATTENTION. I STARTED READING ABOUT THIS ON THE INTERNET AND LOOKS LIKE LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR ENGINE MOUNTS (BOTH FRONT & REAR) WITH ODYSSEY'S ESPECIALLY FROM 2005 - 2009. I WOULD IMAGINE HONDA IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND THEY DID NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE. FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH HONDA AND IT WENT NOWHERE AND I WAS TOLD SINCE MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY (5 YEARS OR 60000 MILES WHICH EVER COMES FIRST) THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO HELP ME WITH IT. I PAID 711$ TO FIX THE ISSUE, WHICH SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN THE CASE HAD HONDA TAKEN SOME RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. WHATS REALLY ANNOYING IS A BROKEN ENGINE PART WITH JUST 48000 MILES ON IT? I JUST HOPE THIS DOES NOT LEAD TO ANY LOSS OF LIFE. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS AS A TOP PRIORITY ISSUE AND DO THE NEEDFUL TO ADDRESS IT. THANK YOU! *TR
LOUD NOISE FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT DURING A TURN. REPAIR SHOP SAID THE PASSENGER SIDE ENGINE MOUNT HAS NEARLY FAILED AND THE OTHERS WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED SOON. IT MAKES NO SENSE FOR SUCH A PART TO FAIL AT 65K MILES - THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE GROUNDS FOR A RECALL. *TR
FRONT MOTOR MOUNT IS TORN AND RECOMMEND REPLACING FOR $951.28 + TAX; SIDE MOTOR MOUNT IS LEAKING AND RECOMMEND REPLACING FOR $238.88 + TAX. THIS VAN IS USED MAINLY FOR DRIVING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL AND ACTIVITIES. NO HEAVY TOWING NOR HARD DRIVING. I WAS TOLD THAT IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM WITH HONDA ODYSSEY, BUT AT THIS TIME HONDA CORPORATION HAS NOT ADDRESSED IT. MY VAN REALLY MAKES NOISE AND RATTLES WHEN ACCELERATING AND I'M CONCERNED THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE ENGINE IS NOT SECURED PROPERLY. *TR
TRANSMISSION CONTINUES TO SHUDDER AT 50 MPH. IT LOOKS LIKE IT SHUTTERS UNTIL YOU HIT THE GAS OR LET OFF. IF YOU ARE COASTING ON FLAT GROUND, STEADY AT THE SAME SPEED, IT WILL DO IT UNTIL YOU LET OFF THE GAS OR HIT THE GAS HARDER. *TR
BRAND NEW REPLACED BATTERY AND ELECTRICAL START ISSUE HAPPENING AGAIN. SOMETIME THE CAR WOULDN'T START AS IF THE BATTERY IS DEAD, THEN WAIT 10 MINUTE AND EVERYTHING WORKS (THO ALL THE CODE RESET AS IF THE BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED). THIS IS WHAT CAUSED US TO REPLACE THE BATTERY AFTER DEALER COULDN'T FIND ANY ISSUE. IT WORKED FOR A FEW WEEKS BUT PROBLEM IS BACK. DEALER CAN'T REPLICATE ISSUE SINCE OF COURSE IT STARTS FINE. BUT THERE IS SOME INHERENT ISSUE WITH ODYSSEY ELECTRICAL ISSUE AS A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE. *TR
POWER STEERING IS HARD TO TURN WHILE PARKING
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, REAR TOYO TIRE BLEW OUT. REQUIRED REPLACING 2 TIRES, THE ONE BLOW OUT AND ANOTHER IN FRONT THAT HAD TREAD SEPARATION ISSUES IDENTIFIED BY TIRE MECHANIC. UPON RETURN FROM TRIP, TAKEN BACK TO INSTALLATION DEALER AND THEY CONTACTED TOYO WHO OFFERED A $30 REFUND ON EACH. SINCE THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE WAS FOR 4 TIRES, THE TWO REMAINING TIRES WERE ALSO AT RISK FOR SIMILAR BLOW OUT. TOYO DID NOT WANT TO OFFER REFUND UNLESS PROOF OF TIRE ROTATION WAS PROVIDED. THE ISSUE WAS ULTIMATELY WITH A FAULTY BLOW-OUT (3 TIRE DEALERS STATED THAT THIS WAS NOT A WEAR-AND-TEAR ISSUE BUT A DEFECT) AND NOT A MATTER OF GETTING REFUND YET TOYO'S FOCUS WAS ON PROVING THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT MAINTAINED RATHER THAN DEALING WITH AN OBVIOUSLY DANGEROUS PRODUCT OUT IN THE MARKET. *TR
BOUGHT VEHICLE USED & NOTICED A SOFT PEDAL FROM THE GO! SAW WHERE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REBUILT & FRONT PADS PUT ON BEFORE MY PURCHASE. TOOK TO HONDA TO GET SERVICED ON 7/18/2012 AT 118,647 MILES & TOLD THEM IT STILL FELT A LITTLE SOFT WITH THE PEDAL GOING LOWER THAN NORMAL. THEY CHECKED IT OUT IN SERVICE & PUT NEW ROTORS & PADS ON THE REAR. WE TOOK IT ON A TRIP TO FLORIDA & THE BRAKES FELT GOOD. SEEMS BETTER NOW HOWEVER IT'S BEGINNING TO FEEL A LITTLE SOFT AGAIN BUT APPEARS TO BE BRAKING OK. I TOLD [XXX] IN SERVICE AT HONDA & I TOLD HIM I WILL KEEP AN EYE ON IT TO SEE IF THERE ARE ANY DIFFERENCES IN THE ONCOMING MILES. HE SAID OK. THANKS! HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE! I HAD DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON WHAT TYPE OF USED MINI VAN WAS THE BEST ON THE MARKET. HONDA KEPT POPPING UP, SO I WENT AND PURCHASED A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING. I LOVED IT UNTIL I GOT A FLAT TIRE. I TOOK IT TO DISCOUNT TIRE STORE (THE SAME PLACE WE TOOK OUR TOYOTA). THAT IS WHERE WE INFORMED THAT WE HAVE THE PAX TIRE SYSTEM. FROM THERE IT'S BEEN A DISASTER! I'VE CALLED MICHELIN AND THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, NOBODY WILL DO ANYTHING TO MAKE THIS SITUATION RIGHT! IT SHOULD BE DISCLOSED TO BUYERS BEFORE THEY PURCHASE A CAR WITH THIS TIRE SYSTEM ON IT. THE TIRES COST 300$ A PIECE AND I WAS INFORMED BY MICHELIN THAT THEY ONLY LAST UP TO 36K MILES. THE TIRES THAT I HAVE RIGHT NOW, STILL SHOULD HAVE 50% OF THEIR LIFE, HOWEVER MY REAR TIRE NOW HAS A "BUBBLE" ON IT. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE! SHAME ON HONDA AND MICHELIN FOR NOT DOING THE RIGHT THING! I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER HONDA OR MICHELIN TIRE! *TR
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE CAR WOULD JERK VIOLENTLY WHEN DECELERATING FROM 20 TO 10MPH. IN ADDITION, WHEN DRIVING FROM 25 TO 40MPH THE CAR WOULD SHAKE VIOLENTLY S IF WAS GOING TO EXPLODE. NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS WAS VERY UNNERVING AND I DID NOT FEEL SAFE WITH MY FAMILY IN THIS CAR. I TOOK IT TO THE HONDA DEALER AND WAS TOLD MY REAR AND FRONT MOTOR MOUNTS WERE CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AT THE TIME THE CAR ONLY HAD 80K MILRES ON IT. TOTAL COST WAS OVER $1,200. OW, AT 170K MILES IT IS DOING THE SAME THING! BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY'RE TELLING ME MY MOTOR MOUNTS ARE CRACKED, AGAIN! I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED THE NHTSA HAS NOT MADE THIS A RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR SLIDING DOORS FAILED TO CLOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE SLIDING DOORS WERE REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE SPECIFICS OF THE PARTS REPLACED WERE UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.

OUR VAN HAS TWO BROKEN MOTOR MOUNTS. MOST OF OUR CAR'S MILEAGE IS HIGHWAY AND EASY DRIVING. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO GOOD REASON FOR WHY THEY ARE BROKEN. JUDGING FROM THE EXPERIENCE OF OTHERS ON-LINE, IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE DESIGN IS POOR AND THE COST TO REPAIR THEM (REPLACE) IS EXTREMELY HIGH. NOT SURE IF THIS FALLS WITHIN YOUR AREA OF REVIEW OR NOT. *TR
I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR 90K MILE MAINTENANCE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE REAR ENGINE MOUNT WAS BROKEN, WHICH WAS THE REASON THE VEHICLE FELT UNSTABLE. THEY SAID ALL OTHER MOUNTS WERE WEARING SEVERELY AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED - REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE. AFTER ONLINE RESEARCH I REALIZE THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH HONDA ODYSSEYS. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE!!! HONDA IS AWARE OF IT BUT DOES NOTHING. *TR
TRANSMISSION HUNTS BETWEEN 4TH AND 5TH GEAR DURING ACCELERATION CAUSING SURGES IN THE RPM AND THE CAR. *TR
STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP MIDWAY INTO STEERING WHEN TURNING. THIS HAPPENED TWICE TODAY. YOU HAVE TO STEERING IT OTHER WAY OR LOOSENS UP AFTER FEW SECONDS. I HAVE HAD THE RECALL SERVICE ALREADY PERFORMED REGARDING RECENT HARD TO STEER AT LOW SPEED. NOW IT COMPLETELY LOCKS UP - MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD!!! *TR
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE REAR AND SIDE ENGINE MOUNTS HAVE FAILED, AT 72,000 MILES. THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. THE ENGINE MOUNTS SHOULD NOT FAIL AT THIS MILEAGE. I HAD NOTICED A RUMBLING NOISE AT LOWER SPEEDS WHEN THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING IN ECO MODE, AND IT APPEARS THAT THIS NOISE WAS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE OF THE ENGINE MOUNTS. IT IS A DEFECT THAT IF NOT REPAIRED WOULD RESULT IN THE ENGINE FALLING OUT OF THE VEHICLE, CLEARLY A DEFECT. HONDA NEEDS TO TAKE ACTION TO REPLACE THE FAULTY ENGINE MOUNTS AND CORRECT THIS DEFECT IN DESIGN IN FUTURE MODELS. *TR
HAVE HAD TWO HONDA ODYSSEYS (ONE NEW 2008 AND ONE USED 2006). BOTH HAD ISSUES WITH THE RIGHT AND LEFT REAR AUTOMATED SLIDING DOORS. THE NEW VAN HAD THIS PROBLEM MUCH LESS THAN THE OLDER ONE, BUT BOTH HAVE HAD MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES OF THIS PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM SOMETIMES COME AND GO SPORADICALLY AND SOMETIMES NEEDS TO BE TAKEN TO THE SHOP TO BE FIXED. THE DOOR USUALLY SHUTS, BUT THEN POPS OPEN JUST ENOUGH THAT IT IS NOT FULLY CLOSED. SOMETIMES THEY WILL NOT LATCH AT ALL. I THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS JUST "OUR LUCK" BUT AFTER LOOKING ONLINE I REALIZED THAT THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AN ONGOING MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS WELL KNOWN ON THE WEB. IN OUR FAMILIES CASE, I CAN SAY THAT THE INCIDENCES WERE NOT RELATED TO ANYTHING THAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO "BREAK" THE DOOR. I FEEL THAT IF INDEED THIS COULD BE LABELED AS A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE THAT THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS A WIDESPREAD PERMANENT "FIX" FROM HONDA. *JS
WHILE DRIVING ON I-81. I HEARD A BRIEF, UNUSUAL SOUND INSIDE MY HONDA ODYSSEY, THEN THE LEFT REAR TIRE SUFFERED AN IMMEDIATE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. THE TIRE TREAD JUST PEELED OFF THE TIRE. FORTUNATELY THE TIRE DID NOT DEFLATE. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PARK OFF THE INTERSTATE AND CALL FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VAN SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT BODY DAMAGE FROM THE TIRE THREAD DEBRIS. I WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST HONDA DEALER. THEY HAD TO REPLACE BOTH REAR TIRES WITH ANOTHER BRAND BECAUSE THEY DID NOT SELL TOYO AND IT WAS AFTER 6 P.M. THEY ALSO WERE ABLE TO MAKE THE VAN SAFE FOR HIGHWAY TRAVEL BY REMOVING BROKEN BODY PARTS AND SECURING OTHER BODY COMPONENTS THAT ALLOWED ME TO CONTINUE MY JOURNEY BACK HOME WITHOUT ANY FURTHER INCIDENTS.....UPDATED 05/23/12 *BF UPDATED 06/06/2012 *JS *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP TO TURN IT ON MANUAL SO WE COULD DRIVE IT WITH OUT HEARING THE DOOR ALARM. WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE SAFE TO DRIVE WHILE ONE MANUAL. WHILE DRIVING YOU COULD HEAR THE DOOR TRYING TO LATCH AUTO EVEN WHEN IT WAS SET TO MANUAL. WHEN I WAS TURNING A CORNER THE DRIVERSIDE PASSENGER DOOR POPPED OPEN AND SLID ALL THE WAY OPEN. WE HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE OTHER SLIDING DOOR LAST YEAR AND THE DEALERSHIP ENDED UP REPLACING THE LATCH ON THAT DOOR BUT THE DOOR NEVER OPENED ALL THE WAY. I WOULD HAVE THOUGH THERE WOULD BE A SAFETY MECHANISM IN PLACE ON THOSE DOORS TO PREVENT IT FROM OPENING WHILE DRIVING BUT I WAS WRONG. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE CRACKED AND TWO WERE BROKEN DUE TO DEFECTIVE MATERIAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 3 CHILDREN AND APPROACHED A STOP SIGN. I PRESSED MY BRAKES, AND THEY COMPLETELY FROZE. I COULD NOT PUSH THE PEDAL DOWN. IT WAS LIKE STEPPING ON A BRICK. IT WOULD NOT MOVE DOWN AT ALL. I WAS SLAMMING MY FOOT DOWN ON THE PETAL AND NOTHING HAPPENED. FORTUNATELY, I WAS GOING SLOW AT THE TIME, AFTER SLAMMING THE BRAKES NUMEROUS TIMES, THE PEDAL SEEMED TO RAISE A BIT AND I WAS ABLE TO PUSH IT DOWN. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED 5 DIFFERENT TIMES. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP THE SAME DAY IT INITIALLY HAPPENED AND THEY COULD NOT RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM. IT HAPPENED TWO MORE TIMES AND TOOK IT TO OUR HONDA DEALER. (BURNS HONDA), THEY SAID IT FELL INTO A RECALL AND FIXED THE PROBLEM. TWO WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN, THIS TIME THERE WERE TWO CARS IN FRONT OF ME AND I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. MY CAR IS BACK AT THE HONDA DEALER WHERE THEY ARE GOING TO TRY TO ONCE AGAIN "RE-CREATE" THE PROBLEM. I FEEL MY CAR IS A DEATH TRAP. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. I AM AFRAID I AM GOING TO GET IN A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT AND HURT MYSELF, MY FAMILY OR SOMEONE ELSE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. I AM NOT SURE WHERE TO GO FOR HELP. I CALLED THE SERVICE DIRECTOR 3 TIMES AFTER RESEARCHING BRAKES ISSUES ON THE INTERNET AND BELIEVE I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE VACUUM RELEASE. THE SERVICE DIRECTOR AGREED THAT HE THOUGHT THAT WAS THE PROBLEM, BUT WASN'T SURE HOW TO FIX IT. *TR
I PURCHASED A SET OF 4 TOYO VERSADO LX TIRES ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. IN THE LAST MONTH, ONE TIRE COMPLETELY DISINTEGRATED ON THE INTERSTATE AND WE WERE LUCKY TO KEEP CONTROL! THE OUTER TREAD COMPLETELY PEELED OFF LIKE YOU SEE FROM 18-WHEELERS. JUST A FEW WEEKS LATER, WE HAD TERRIBLE VIBRATION FROM THE FRONT END. TOOK CAR TO HONDA DEALER WHO DETERMINED ANOTHER OF THE TIRES WAS COMPLETELY DEFECTIVE. THE TREADS WERE SEPARATING FROM THE INSIDE, AND THE TIRE WAS EFFECTIVELY SQUARE. ALL OF THE TIRES HAD PLENTY OF WEAR LEFT. *TR
REAR ENGINE MOUNT IS BROKEN. CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 74,500 MILES AND IS A 2006.

ADDED MORE FLUID. 75K REPLACED DRIVE BELT. 80K NOTICED INCREASED NOISE (WHINING), BUT NO SHAKING OF THE WHEEL. BROUGHT INTO DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE ARE MANY ISSUES WITH OTHERS AND HONDA EXTENDED WARRANTY TO 7 YEARS, BUT NO RECALL. MECHANIC STATED THAT AT HIGH SPEEDS (HWY), PS PUMP SEAL COULD FAIL, LEAK AND CAUSE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE. CALLED HONDA USA AND THEY SAID YES TO WARRANTY, BUT NO TO SAFETY CAMPAIGN- HOW CAN THEY BE SO IRRESPONSIBLE! *TR
THE POWER LIFT GATE FELL DOWN ON ME; LUCKILY NO ONE WAS DIRECTLY UNDER IT WHEN IT FELL. IT HAPPENED INSTANTLY; WHEN I OPENED IT UP, IT CRASHED DOWN THE FIRST TIME. UPON FURTHER ATTEMPTS TO OPEN IT, IT WOULD SLOWLY OPEN AND THEN JERK AND THEN GO BACK DOWN. IT WILL NOT STAY OPEN BY ITSELF. THE LOCAL HONDA SERVICE CENTER INSPECTED IT AND SAID THE STRUTS HAD GONE OUT ON IT AND REPLACED THEM BOTH. ACCORDING TO NEWS FEB 21, 2012, HONDA ODYSSEYS ARE BEING RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE IN MARCH 2012; MY 2006 MODEL HAS DONE THE SAME THING THE NEWS ARTICLES REPORT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOUR TIMES FOR THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE STRUTS ON THE LIFTGATE OF MY 2006 HONDA ODYSSEY LX COMPLETELY FAILED IN NOVEMBER 2011 AT AROUND 40,000 MILES. THANKFULLY, THIS HAPPENED AS I WAS OPENING IT, SO NO ONE WAS UNDERNEATH IT YET. THE LIFTGATE IS EXTREMELY HEAVY AND COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY, ESPECIALLY TO A SMALL PERSON. WE REPLACED THE STRUTS WITH NEW HONDA PARTS PURCHASED FROM THE SAME HONDA DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. IT IS NOW APRIL 2013, NOT EVEN A YEAR AND HALF LATER, AND THE REPLACEMENT STRUTS HAVE ALSO FAILED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY HAVE NO ADVICE ON WHAT TO DO FROM HERE OTHER THAN REPLACE THE STRUTS WITH THE SAME PART THAT HAS FAILED TWICE NOW. I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS REPORTS ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. GIVEN THE TRACK RECORD OF THE LIFTGATE STRUTS FOR THIS MODEL, I THINK IT'S PRETTY LIKELY THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN, AND I FEAR THAT I OR SOMEONE IN MY FAMILY MAY SUFFER SERIOUS INJURY OR WORSE. OTHER MODEL YEARS HAVE BEEN RECALLED BECAUSE APPARENTLY THE PRESSURIZED GAS LEAKS FROM THE STRUTS. I THINK THE 2006 HAS THE SAME PROBLEM, AND A RECALL IS IN ORDER. THESE STRUTS NEED TO BE REPLACED WITH ONES THAT DON'T LEAK. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
