PURCHASED A NEW 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L. VAN IS EXPERIENCING "SOFT BRAKES", I.E. HAVE TO BRAKE HARD AS IF BRAKE PADS ARE LOW SINCE DELIVERY OF VAN FROM BURNS HONDA, NJ. *TR
WHEN I GO FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE THERE IS A DELAY BEFORE THE CLUTCH ENGAGES. THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL DURING THIS TIME WHILE THE ENGINE REVS BEFORE THE CLUTCH ENGAGES. *TR
MY 2007 ODYSSEY HAS BEEN SLIPPING ON INCLINES WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE OR GO FROM R TO D. INITIALLY THE SLIPPING WAS A COUPLE OF INCHES AND WAS DENIED AS DEFECT BY DEALERSHIP. NOW THE CAR SLIPS A FOOT OR MORE. LAST YEAR I WAS STOPPED IN SF AND WHEN I HIT THE ACCELERATOR, I ROLLED BACK INTO THE CAR BEHIND ME DESPITE MY FLOORING THE GAS. I HAVE RECENTLY ALMOST ROLLED INTO THE DOOR OF A PARKED CAR WITH A CHILD STANDING BY THE PARKED CAR WHILE BACKING UP ON AN INCLINE. DEALERSHIP STATES IT IS KNOWN DEFECT AND WILL NOT FIX. I AM AFRAID OF ROLLING INTO ANOTHER CAR, CHILD ETC. HONDA CORPORATE SAYS IT IS PART OF THE CAR AND WILL NOT FIX, BUT WILL NOT PROVIDE ME WITH DOCUMENTATION OF THIS "KNOWN DEFECT". I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE MY TIRES YEARLY AND REPLACE MY FRONT BRAKES AFTER 18 MONTHS. MY CONDENSER ON MY A/C ALSO FROZE UP THIS WEEK IN 110 HEAT WITH MY 4 SMALL KIDS IN THE CAR AND MY SON HAD AN ASTHMA ATTACK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT COULD NOT RELEASE THE 7 YEAR OLD CHILD FROM THE SEAT BELT. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE IN AN ATTEMPT TO RELEASE THE SEAT BELT. THE SEAT BELT WAS CUT IN ORDER TO RELEASE THE CHILD. THE CHILD WAS BRUISED AROUND THE WAIST AREA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE IS UNKNOWN , AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 76,200. *AK
BRAKES SOMETIMES SEEM INADEQUATE TO STOP THE VEHICLE -- HAVE ROLLED THROUGH STOP SIGNS OR RED LIGHTS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP. INTERMITTENT PROBLEM -- DON'T KNOW WHEN EXCESSIVE PEDAL PRESSURE WIL BE REQUIRED.*AK
BRAND NEW VEHICLE - MINIVAN PURCHASED FROM GRAINGER HONDA SAVANNAH GA. UPON DELIVERY OF THE "BRAND NEW" VEHICLE WE NOTICED A MISALIGNED REAR BUMPER AND SMUDGED PAINT WORK. WE SUBSEQUENTLY FOUND OUT IT WAS ACTUALLY RE-PAINTED! WE TOLD THE DEALER WE WANTED EITHER A FULL REFUND IF NOT A NEW VEHICLE. THE DEALER OFFERED TO REPAIR THE BUMPER! AS FAR AS WE ARE CONCERNED THE VEHICLE IS NOT NEW AND DAMAGE WAS NOT DISCLOSED TO US, THE BUYER. *TR
REF PE09024 AND EA09014 FOR HONDA ODYSSEY 2007- SOFT BRAKES REQUIRED MULTIPLE DEALER SERVICE TO CHECK FOR LOW PEDAL. LAST VISIT WITH DISTRICT REP FROM HONDA PROMPTED SERVICE TO FIX AGREED TO LOW PEDAL PROBLEM. FIX WAS AN IMPROVEMENT BUT BRAKES REMAIN SOFT AND AT TIMES ON A LONG DOWNWARD HILL, BRAKES CAN STILL SLOWLY SINK TO FLOOR. PUMPING OF BRAKES IS THEN REQUIRED TO RESTORE PEDAL HEIGHT. I WILL NOT ALLOW OTHER PERSONS TO DRIVE THIS CAR BECAUSE OF THIS RISK. HONDA DID A FIX ON JAN 09 TO EA09014 WITH IMPROVED HEIGHT BUT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS WITH SOFT PEDAL AND DROP ON RARE OCCASIONS. OWNER FRUSTRATION HAS PREVENTED FURTHER ACTON UNTIL THIS OPPORTUNITY. *TR
SPONGY BRAKE PEDEL SINCE CAR WAS NEW, AND SQUEEKY NOISE WHEN APPLYING BRAKES WHILE TURNING, USUALLY WHEN CAR IS COLD. THIS STARTED IN OCT. 2009.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED HE HAD THE LEFT PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR OPEN AND HE NOTICED IT BEGAN TO CLOSE WITHOUT WARRANT. HE WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR WITH THE DOOR MECHANISM AND INSTEAD ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE DOOR MANUALLY. HE WAS ABLE TO PULL THE DOOR OPEN SLIGHTLY, HOWEVER THE DOOR CONTINUED TO CLOSE AND HIS WRIST BECAME JAMMED IN THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT YET BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000. UPDATED 05/19/10. *LJ
AT 2,666 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, MY HONDA ODYSSEY EXL, PURCHASED ON 2/28/2007, SUFFERED CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. WHILE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS UNCLEAR ON THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM, THEY FOUND THE FRONT CAM SHAFT FROZEN IN THE CYLINDER HEAD WITH THE SPECULATION THAT THERE WAS A CASTING HEAD PROBLEM WITH DEBRIS INSIDE THE VALVE ASSEMBLY. ALL FLUIDS WERE AT RECOMMENDED LEVELS. A PARTIAL LIST OF REPAIRS: - FRONT HEAD ASSEMBLY AND GASKET REPLACED - REAR HEAD GASKET REPLACED. - TIMING BELT AND TENSIONER REPLACED. - DRIVE BELT IDLER TENSIONER REPLACED. - COOLANT SYSTEM GASKET REPLACED. - FRONT ENGINE SEALS REPLACED. - OUTER HEAD ASSEMBLY REPLACED. HOW NO INJURY OR ACCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE MY CAR DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION, IS JUST MY GOOD FORTUNE. MY BAD FORTUNE IS HAVING TO NAVIGATE A RUDE AND UNACCOUNTABLE CORPORATE "SERVICE" DEPARTMENT AND LIVE WITH THE LEGACY OF A MAJOR MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *JB

2007 HONDA ODYSSEY EXL SLIDING DOORS NOISE AND CANNOT BE OPENED INSIDE THE CAR BY PASSENGER. HAD THE STREERING COLUMN REPAIRED TWICE A FEW MONTH AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR. *AK
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE REFERENCED ABOVE IN 2007 FROM HUDSON HONDA AND ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER THE PURCHASE, I BEGAN HAVING ACCELERATION PROBLEMS WITH THE VAN. THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN AND I HAVE TO EITHER THROW THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL OR TURN IT OFF ABRUPTLY IN ORDER TO STOP THE INCREASE IN SPEED. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER I PURCHASED IT FROM AND UPON THE FIRST INSPECTION, I WAS INFORMED THE MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND DID NOT FIND ANY MECHANICAL ISSUES. THE PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY...MOST RECENTLY IN DECEMBER 2013 WHILE DRIVING FROM NEW JERSEY TO MIAMI. I WAS TAKING AN EXIT WITH AN INCLINE IN MARYLAND AND AS I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE, THE SPEED INCREASED AT SUCH A RATE THAT I HAD TO THROW THE VAN INTO NEUTRAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND PREVENT AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THE RESPONSE I HAVE RECEIVED IS THAT THEY CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM. THE VAN ACCELERATES WITHOUT WARNING, AROUND SPEEDS UP TO 30MPH AND OCCURS WHETHER I'M DRIVING UPHILL, DOWNHILL, OR ON A FLAT SURFACE. MY LAST VISIT, WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT, COST $1623.45 AND I AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT A SAFETY ISSUE IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED AND HAS THE POTENTIAL OF CAUSING INJURY TO MYSELF OR OTHERS. *TR
BOUGHT A NEW 2007 HONDA ODESSEY VAN IN EARLY DECEMBER 2006. THE FIRST WARM DAY IN MARCH, I TURN ON THE AC AND IT DOES NOT WORK. WE TAKE THE VAN IN ASSUMING THAT THE AC NEVER WORKED (AS IT WAS NOT USED) AND THEY SAID A ROCK FROM THE ROAD HIT MY CONDENSOR AND IT IS A TOTAL LOSS. NOW I HAVE DIFFICULTY UNDERSTANDING HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED. I SEARCH THE INTERNET AND FIND A TON OF THE SAME STORIES. I CALLED THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM I AM GETTING A SECOND OPINION AND NOW THEY WANT TO SHARE IN THE COST OF REPAIR TO ME. IT SOUNDS LIKE THEY REALIZE THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT ARE NOT ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT.
DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THAT A STONE CAUSED A HOLE IN THE AIR CONDITIONER (A/C) CONDENSER HOSE IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, THEREBY DENYING RESPONSIBILITY AS A WARRANTY ITEM. THE 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY WAS ONLY 3 MONTHS OLD AND THE A/C WAS BLOWING HOT AIR. THE REPAIR COSTS $600. THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT HONDA WAS NOT ADDRESSING.*AK
MY 2 WEEK OLD HONDA ODYSSEY HAS 1200 MILES ON IT AND A DAMAGED AIR CONDITIONER A/C CONDENSER. A ROCK WENT THROUGH THE WIDE OPEN FRONT GRILL AND EASILY PUNCTURED IT. THE REPAIR COST WAS $600. MY DEALER SAYS IT WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY. I COMPLAINED TO HONDA, BUT HAVEN'T HEARD BACK FROM THEM YET. MANY ONLINE CAR FORUMS REPORT THAT THISWAS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW IN THE ODYSSEY AND I AGREE. I'M GOING TO SPEND $600 TO REPAIR AND NO TELLING HOW MUCH TO TRY TO PREVENT MORE DAMAGE TO MY BRAND NEW $30,000 VEHICLE. THAT MADE NO SENSE. I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER HONDA ,AND I WILL TELL EVERYONE THAT CROSSES MY PATH THAT THEY SHOULDN'T EITHER!*AK
ON THE 3RD ROW SEAT THERE IS A GLOVE BOX ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE BOX GETS EXTREMELY HOT. WE FOUND OUT WHEN MY CHILD PUT IN HER CRAYONS AND ALL THE CRAYONS MELTED. THE REAR HEATING SYSTEM IS RIGHT UNDER THERE ACCORDING TO THE DEALER. I DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS HOT AND WHEN REMOVING THE BAG OF MELTED CRAYONS (WHICH I DID NOT REALIZE THEY WERE MELTED CRAYONS) I BURNED MY SELF. THIS OCCURS EVERY SINGLE TIME. ON LONGER DRIVES IT GETS EVEN HOTTER. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, AS THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER SAID THAT THIS WAS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO. I THEN CALLED HONDA BUT THEY SAID IF THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING THEN THAT WAS THAT. THE SIDE WALL ALSO GETS QUITE WARM. NOT AS HOT AS THE BOX HOWEVER THIS IS A CHILD SAFETY HAZARD AS CHILDREN COULD GET BURNED AS WELL AS ANYONE ELSE WHO TOUCHES IT. *TR

BOUGHT THE 2007 ODYSSEY EX-L RES NAV NEW IN 2007, DID NOT NOTICE THE 40~50MPH JUDDER DURING THE 10 MINUTES TEST DRIVE. I DID NOTICE THAT WHILE DRIVING IT BACK HOME, BUT THAT WAS TOO LATE AND THE MONEY WAS WITH THE DEALER ALREADY. BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL, EVEN THOUGH YOU CAN FIND LOTS OF COMPLAINTS FROM INTERNET. I SHOULD HAVE DONE MORE RESEARCH BEFORE I MADE THIS PURCHASE. TOO MUCH PENALTY TO TRADE IN FOR OTHERS. FROM THAT ON, I JUST AVOID THAT SPEED RANGE AS MUCH AS I COULD. AFTER DEALER UPDATED THE TRANSMISSION CODE LAST YEAR, THE VIBRATION STILL EXISTS AND JUST SLIGHTLY IMPROVED. BUT THE DOWN SHIFT IS KIND OF ROUGH WHEN CRUISING TO SLOW DOWN. SOMETIMES IT EVEN STUCK AT UNEXPECTED LOW GEAR WHEN DRIVING ON A DOWN HILL WHILE GAS IS OFF. EVEN THOUGH I ONLY HAVE 38K MILES ON IT SO FAR, BUT WORRY IT MIGHT NOT LAST LONG ENOUGH TO WORTH THE MONEY I PAID. ANY WAY, I JUST TOLD ALL MY FRIENDS GO GET A "TOYOTA SIENNA" AND DEFINITELY NOT HONDA ODYSSEY. HONDA/ACURA HAVE LOTS OF TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND THEY NEED TO RECALL ALL THOSE CARS. THIS IS THE FIRST AND LAST HONDA FOR ME, NO MORE HONDA ....! *KB

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND NOTICED THAT THE PEDAL HAD SEIZED AND WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE BRAKE PEDAL RESPONDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.
MY 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS BEEN SHUDDERING FOR A LONG TIME HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 2-3 TIMES AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT OR GET THE PROBLEM TO HAPPEN THERE. MY LEASE IS ALMOST UP AND WE THOUGHT OF BUYING THE VAN BECAUSE WE ARE WAY OVER OUR MILES BUT NOT WITH THIS PROBLEM FOR FEAR IT IS THE TRANSMISSION. IT SHUDDERS BETWEEN 30-40MPH OR ON AN INCLINE. *TR
COMPLAINT FOR TIRES ON A 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE TIRES ARE SPECIAL AND CAN ONLY BE FIXED BY CERTAIN AUTHORIZED DEALERS AND MAINTENANCE PEOPLE. *KB THE CONSUMER HAD A FLAT TIRE AND HAD DIFFICULTY OBTAINING A TIRE. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED BECAUSE OF THE COST OF THE EQUIPMENT, LOW INCIDENCE OF THE PAC TIRES USE AND THE COST OF LABOR THE TIRE WAS NOT BEING SOLD AT THE PARTICULAR LOCATION AND THE CLOSEST DEALER WAS 500 MILES AWAY. CONSUMER STATING PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE GENERAL MANAGER WITH THE DEALER ARRANGED TO TRADE IN THE VEHICLE AND THE PROBLEMS WILL BE FIXED. *KB
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY HAS ONGOING BRAKE PEDAL PROBLEMS. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE PEDAL WAS SOFT AND IT WOULD DROP FROM UNDER HER FEET. THE DEALER BLED THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE REAR HATCH DID NOT STAY UP ON ITS OWN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE STRUTS ON THE HATCH. *JB
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER STATES EXCESSIVE PEDAL TRAVEL AND SPONGY FEELING OF THE BRAKE PEDAL *TGW THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT IT WAS RETURNED IN THE SAME CONDITION. A MONTH LATER, THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER, BUT THERE WAS STILL NO CHANGE. ON MAY 4TH, 2010, THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A BRAKE RECALL, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM STILL REMAINED. *JB
2007 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH BRAKES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED EXTREME PRESSURE HAD TO BE APPLIED TO THE BRAKES, IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. ALSO, THE CLUTCH SHUDDERED WHEN DRIVING DOWN A HILL, IT NOT ONLY SHUDDERED, BUT IT MADE THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHAKE AND RATTLE AS IF IT WERE FALLING APART.
