THE 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY EXL WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE REAR HATCH SUDDENLY FELL ON MY BACK & SHOULDER WHEN LEANED IN TO GET BAGS FROM THE TRUNK. I HAD TO STRUGGLE TO LIFT THE HEAVY HATCH TO GET OUT. TOOK THE CAR TO HONDA DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP SAID THERE IS NO WARRANTY/RECALL AND WILL HAVE TO ORDER THE REPLACEMENT STRUTS. COST FOR PARTS WAS $171.40, PLUS LABOR. CALLED HONDA OF AMERICA RECALL 800-999-1009 AND INFORMED THEM OF THE ISSUE TO MAKE THEM AWARE OF THE SAFETY PROBLEM. HONDA OF AMERICA REGIONAL MANAGER BASED OUT OF CA, SETH CALLED BACK (7/20/18) WHO SAID THIS AN OLD VAN THAT IS LONG OUT OF WARRANTY AND IMPLIED NORMAL WEAR & TEAR ISSUE. WHEN WE SAID THERE APPEARS TO BE A RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM ON 2008 & 2009 HONDA ODYSSEY MODELS, WAS TOLD OUR VIN # IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL EVEN-THOUGH IT APPEARED TO US TO BE SAME PROBLEM. TOLD THERE IS NOTHING HONDA CAN DO. BEING A LIFE LONG OWNER OF HONDA VEHICLES PAST AND PRESENT, I DID NOT EXPECT SUCH APATHY AND DISAPPOINTED BY HONDA'S LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE AND CONCERN FOR CONSUMER SAFETY. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, WE WERE NOT AWARE THAT THERE MAY BE AN ISSUE. AT MINIMUM, SAFETY NOTICE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SENT TO ALL 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY OWNERS TO MAKE THEM AWARE AS THIS IS NOT THE TYPE OF NORMAL WEAR &TEAR REQUIRING REPLACEMENT.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE LIFT GATE WOULD NOT STAY UP WHEN OPENED MANUALLY.
WHILE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE MANUAL REAR TAILGATE GAS-CHARGED LIFT STRUTS/STAYS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING THE REAR TAILGATE TO FALL ON THE OCCUPANT WITH SIGNIFICANT WEIGHT AND VELOCITY, CAUSING MINOR HEAD INJURIES. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN INSPECTED ROUGHLY 2 WEEKS PRIOR AND NO SIGNS OF IMMINENT FAILURE WERE DETECTED. NO SAFETY MECHANISM EXISTS TO PREVENT THE TAILGATE FROM FALLING IN THE EVENT OF LIFT SUPPORT FAILURE.
THE PROBLEM THAT CREATED THE UNSAFE CONDITION WAS UNINTENTIONAL SPONTANEOUS ACCELERATION WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE TO COMPLETE THE STOP WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE 2008 ODYSSEY WAS GOING VERY SLOW (JUST MADE A RIGHT TURN ON ROAD) IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA, FOR THE HOUSE WE WERE VISITING WAS ON THE CORNER. WE THEN TURNED ANOTHER RIGHT TO PARK IN A PRIVATE PARKING AREA. IMMEDIATELY BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD WHILE THE ENGINE WAS REVVING AND SOUNDING VERY LOUD. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE ALL THE WAY DOWN, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES (LURCHES) FORWARD WHILE IMMEDIATELY GOING OVER A RAILROAD TIE (ABOUT 7 INCHES HIGH), GOING UP IN THE AIR (ALMOST ROLLING), THEN STRIKING A TREE WHICH SLOWED THE CAR DOWN. DESPITE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE, THE ODYSSEY KEPT REVVING AND THRUSTING FORWARD EVEN AFTER STRIKING THE TREE. THE IMPACT OF HITTING THE TREE WAS VERY HARD, AND THE ACCIDENT LEFT 2 OF THE PASSENGERS WITH SEATBELT IMPRINTS ON THE NECK AND CHEST. THE MINIVAN FINALLY STOPPED BECAUSE THE DAMAGE WAS SEVERE, INCLUDING A BURNING SMELL AND FLUID LEAKAGE FROM THE CAR. WE HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED AND GOT WORD THAT OUR ODYSSEY WAS TOTALED. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.
MY CAR MAKE NUSA WHEN I HAD THE BRAKE I JUST FIXED
15MAY2018. IN A SLOW TRAFFIC, I FELT A SLIGHT VIBRATION ON THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE STOPPED. WHILE TURNING ON AGAIN, THE ENGINE STARTS UP, BUT DIES AGAIN. A RED WARNING FLASHES SHOWING BATTERY AND OIL SYMBOLS. THE SAME REPEATED . VEHICLE TOWED TO A MECHANIC. WHEN THE MECHANIC STARTED, ENGINE RUNS FINE. MECHANIC'S DIAGNOSTICS DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I DROVE BACK HOME 60 MILES AWAY. NO ISSUES. FEARING FOR MY LIFE, IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN ON HIGHWAY.
RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR DOES NOT LATCH WHILE STATIONARY. WILL NOT OPEN OR CLOSE UNLESS PHYSICALLY FORCED.
ENGINE DAMAGE
THERE WAS A PREVIOUS LAWSUIT AGAINST HONDA FOR HONDA ACCORDS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. I HAVE A 08 ODYSSEY THAT'S HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM BUT UNFORTUNATELY I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND IT GOT SO BAD I WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW MOTOR. I WENT TO HAVE AN OIL CHANGE AT THE HONDA DEALERSHIP BACK IN NOVEMBER AND LAST MONTH WAS TOLD THAT THE OIL WAS BONE DRY. HOW'S THAT POSSIBLE IF IT'S NOT BURNING OR LEAKING OIL? HONDA KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM YET REFUSED ME ANY HELP AND TOLD ME I HAVE TO BRING IT IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ON TOP OF REPLACING THE MOTOR ON MY OWN. THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS I FOUND ONLINE WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME VEHICLE AND SAME PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY THEY KNOW ABOUT IT AND ARE KEEPING UP WITH HAVING TO CONSTANTLY ADD OIL, WHERE I HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND APPARENTLY I WAS DRIVING IT WITH NO OIL FOR ONLY GOD KNOWS HOW LONG. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND ITS NOT FAIR THAT WE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY THE PRICE. I'M A SINGLE MOM, 2 SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS, I DON'T HAVE OVER 3000 TO REPAIR A MOTOR THAT BROKE BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THIS NEEDS TO BE HEARD AND WE NEED TO GET HONDA TO DO A RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THERE'S GONNA BE HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE GONNA HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. HONDA IS A CROOKED DEALERSHIP AND DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. NOW I'M SITTING HERE STUCK WITH A VAN WHICH I PURCHASED WITH MY SON'S DISABILITY MONEY BTW, WITH A BAD MOTOR CAUSE OF A MISTAKE HONDA MADE WHEN MAKING THESE VANS. PLEASE GET MY STORY OUT THERE, LET THIS BE HEARD. I NEED SOMEONE TO HELP ME DO SOMETHING. THIS IS SAD AND WRONG AND I'M SURE I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE. WHILE DRIVING AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL APPROXIMATELY 2/3 OF THE WAY DOWN BEFORE THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED IN 2010 FOR AN UNKNOWN RECALL REGARDING THE VSA MODULATOR CONTROL; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT CALLED BROWN HONDA (LOCATED AT 6155 W CENTRAL AVE, TOLEDO, OH 43615, 888-531-7712) AND WAS INFORMED OF TSB 10-017, NHTSA ID NUMBER. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR JUMPED TRACK AND BROKE OFF DURING NORMAL OPERATIONS. VEHICLE WAS PARKED, AND PASSENGERS HAD EXITED.
"TAKATA RECALL" I GOT GAS LEAK SUDDENLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN DEFENDER SL TIRES, SIZE: R65/R16/235 (NA). WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE EXPLODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (HARDIN COUNTY HONDA, 5608 NORTH DIXIE HIGHWAY, ELIZABETHTOWN, KY 42701) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000. THE DOT NUMBER AND TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.
THE CAR KEEPS GIVING A "TIGHTEN FUEL CAP" WARNING..I HAVE CHECKED AND REPLACED THE FUEL CAP WITH A HONDA GEM FUEL CAP AND I STILL GET THE WARNING...I HAVE READ THAT THERE IS A SEAL ON THE FUEL TANK/PUMP ASSEMBLY THAT PERISHES WHICH MUST SURELY BE A FIRE/EXPLOSION HAZARD. THIS WARNING LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY WHEN THE CAR IS AT IDLE OR MOVING AND STAYS ON FAIRLY CONSTANTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ENGINE LEAK IN ONE OF THE FUEL VALVES WHICH THEN LEAKED ONTO THE ALTERNATOR. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHUT OFF AT RANDOM SPEEDS WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A LEAKING SPOOL VALVE COVER. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER WHO INFORMED HER THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR CAME OFF THE TRACK AND FELL OFF WHILE ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE DOOR. THE CAR WAS PARKED AND WAS BEING OPENED AUTOMATICALLY WHEN IT BECAME DISLODGED FROM THE CAR'S TRACK. I SPOKE WITH A MECHANIC AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY.
FOLLOWING A SERVICE IN WHICH MY TIMING BELT, SERPENTINE BELT, WATER PUMP, AND POWER STEERING PUMP WERE CHANGED, THE TENSIONER BOLT WAS SHEARED OFF TWICE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAPPENED, THE MECHANIC REPORTED THAT HE HAD NEVER SEEN THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM BEFORE. THE SECOND TIME THAT THE BOLT WAS SHEARED OFF (BOTH EVENTS WERE WITHIN A WEEK OF THE SERVICING), THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT HE HAD DONE RESEARCH AND THIS SEEMED TO HAVE HAPPENED TO NUMEROUS HONDA ODYSSEY OWNERS. AS STATE ABOVE, THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE PAST WEEK WHILE I WAS DRIVING, ONCE ON A RAMP, ENTERING THE INTERSTATE AND ONCE TURNING RIGHT ONTO A MAIN ROAD FROM A PARKING LOT.
THE ALARM WENT ON AT AROUND 2AM AND KEPT ON GOING. SWITCHED IF OFF USING KEY FOB. CHECKED ALL DOORS AND WINDOWS AND NOTHING WAS OPEN. AFTER ABOUT TEN MINUTES IT STARTED GOING OFF AGAIN BY ITSELF. AS I WAS WATCHING AT THAT TIME, THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE ALARM TO GO OFF. THE SAME THING REPEATED OVER SEVERAL NIGHTS AND THIS BECAME AN ISSUE FOR US AND NEIGHBOR'S. FROM THEN ON, I HAVE STARTED TAKING OUT THE HORN FUSE WHEN PARKING. AS THIS HAPPENED A FEW MONTHS AGO, I HAVE GIVEN AN APPROXIMATE DATE BELOW. I AM HAVING THIS CHECKED BY A DEALER, THOUGH I DOUBT THEY CAN FIND THE CAUSE AS THIS OCCURS RANDOMLY. THIS HAS HOWEVER BECOME A MAJOR HEADACHE.
VSA AND ENGINE INDICATORS KEEP COMING ON. NOW I'M TOLD I HAVE TO REPLACE VSA MODULATOR FOR $1700
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR FAILED TO OPEN. THE CONTACT ROLLED THE WINDOW DOWN AND ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE HANDLE WHILE WITHIN THE VEHICLE, BUT THE DOOR STILL FAILED TO OPEN. THE CONTACT HAD TO USE THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR TO EXIT AND ENTER THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE LOCK WOULD TURN WHEN THE KEY WAS INSERTED INTO THE DOOR, BUT THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR DOOR PANEL, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (PEARSON HONDA, 14001 HULL STREET RD, MIDLOTHIAN, VA, 23112), BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REMOVE THE PANEL AND ASKED FOR PERMISSION TO POSSIBLY DAMAGE THE PANEL, BUT AT THE EXPENSE OF THE CONTACT. THE CONTACT DID NOT AUTHORIZE THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 180,000.
MY VAN HAS SOFT BRAKES. I AM THE SECOND OWNER. FROM ONLINE, I FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY CUSTOMERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN I CHECKED WITH THE DEALER, THEY SAID IT IS QUITE NORMAL FOR ODYSSEY. WHEN I CHECKED WITH HONDA CUSTOMER CARE, THEY AID THERE WAS A RECALL AND THEY FIXED IT AND SINCE I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER, THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING. OBVIOUSLY THE FIX THAT THEY DID IS NOT WORKING NOW. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE VAN WITH WIFE AND TWO KIDS. CAN ANYTHING BE DONE FOR THIS ISSUE?
SUDDEN ACCELERATION: MY WIFE WAS TURNING THE CAR AROUND IN OUR DRIVEWAY. THE CAR STARTED ACCELERATING WHILE IN REVERSE. MY WIFE PRESSED THE BRAKES, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND. IT STARTED SLIPPING IN PLACE UNTIL IT HIT THE FENCE. MY WIFE CONTINUED TO PRESS THE BRAKE UNTIL THE ENGINE RPM RETURNED TO NORMAL. MY WIFE INDICATED THAT SHE HAD EXPERIENCE A SIMILAR ISSUE LAST WINTER WHILE DRIVING ON A SNOW COVERED ROAD, BUT THE ACCELERATION STOPPED QUICKLY. AT THAT TIME, SHE THOUGHT THE CAR JUST SLIPPED DUE TO THE WEATHER CONDITIONS.
2008 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L WITHOUT POWER LIFT GATE. THE REAR HATCH STRUTS PART # 74820SHJA01 FAILED IN A DANGEROUS WAY. THEY WERE WORKING PERFECT THE TIME BEFORE WITH NOW SIGNS OF ANY LEAKING OR WEAKNESS AND THE VERY NEXT TIME THEY FAILED CAUSING THE REAR DOOR TO SLAM DOWN IN AN UNCONTROLLED MANNER. I CHECKED THE VIN FOR THE RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 12V062000 NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE11034 DATE FEB 16, 2012 STRUCTURE: BODY: HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE: HINGE AND ATTACHMENTS BUT STATE MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, BUT I FIND IT STRANGE THAT THE FAILURE ACTED IN THE SAME MANNER AS THE RECALL. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT A FUEL STATION, THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND ALL THE DOORS LOCKED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. A BABY WAS INSIDE THE VEHICLE IN ALMOST 90% DEGREE WEATHER. THE CONTACT CALLED THE POLICE AND THEY BROKE THE TAILGATE WINDOW GLASS TO PREVENT GLASS FROM FALLING ON THE BABY. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
NOTICED THAT MY CAR WAS NOT RUNNING LIKE IT HAS BEEN AND THEN IT GOT WORSE OVER THE NEXT DAY OR TWO THEN BEFORE I COULD GET IT IN FOR SERVICE THE OIL LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING. I DROVE THE CAR STRAIGHT TO MY HONDA DEALER AND THERE IS NO EXTERNAL OIL LEAK THEREFORE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT OIL IS LEAKING INSIDE THE ENGINE AND BURNING AND THAT IS WHY THE SMOKE IS COMING FROM BY TAILPIPE HOWEVER THE LIGHT INDICATOR WAS A LITTLE TO LATE BECAUSE THE DAMAGE IS ALREADY DONE AND NOW THE ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH MY CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND NO TELLING WHAT ELSE. THE DEALER NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT THIS A LAWSUIT INDICATING THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL SO I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP AND AS I TRIED TO MAKE IT HOME IT BROKE DOWN ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, HAD TO TOW IT HOME. CALLED HONDA MANUFACTURER AND MY VIN NUMBER DOES NOT QUALIFY UNDER THAT CLASS ACTION EVEN THOUGH IT IS A 2008 ODYSSEY. NOW I HAVE A VEHICLE SITTING IN MY GARAGE THAT DOES NOT RUN AND HAS NO RESALE VALUE AND IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE HONDA IS GOING TO HELP OUT IN ANY WAY. IF YOU OWN A 2008-2013 HONDA YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK YOUR OIL LEVEL REGULARLY BECAUSE THE LIGHT INDICATORS OR NOT VERY RELIABLE.
MY DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR FELL OFF. IT WAS ON ONE MINUTE AND THEN THE NEXT IT COMPLETELY FELL OFF. WE WERE IN A PARKING LOT AND I WENT TO OPEN THE DOOR. I PULLED ON IT AND IT JUST POPPED RIGHT OFF. AS A RESULT IT SCRATCHED UP THE SIDE OF MY CAR VERY BADLY.
I HAD JUST TAKEN MY CHILDREN TO A WATER PARK. UPON RETURNING TO MY VEHICLE AT THE PARK'S CLOSING, I OPENED THE DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR WITH NO PROBLEM. WHEN I TRIED TO CLOSE IT, IT WOULD NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY, AND WHEN I GAVE IT ANOTHER HARD PULL, IT CAME COMPLETELY OFF. THE CENTER SIDE ROLLER HAD COME COMPLETELY OFF TRACK. I WAS ABLE TO HOLD THE DOOR UP WITH SOME DIFFICULTY, BUT WAS UNABLE TO GET THE SIDE ROLLER BACK IN TRACK. THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE SIDE ROLLER APPARATUS FROM THE DOOR, GET THE UPPER ROLLER SOMEWHAT BACK ON TRACK, AND GET THE DOOR CLOSED. OTHERWISE, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED. AS HEAVY AS THAT DOOR WAS, IT COULD HAVE REALLY HURT MY CHILD IF IT HAD FALLEN INWARD ON HER, AND I WAS VERY FORTUNATE THAT IT DID NOT HURT ME. VEHICLE WAS OBVIOUSLY STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT WHEN THIS OCCURRED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT DEALER WHERE THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, ERROR CODE P3497. ENGINE BURNS MORE OIL THAN NORMAL. HONDA ISSUED SERVICE BULLETIN 11-033, YET REFUSE TO FIX THE CAR AT THEIR EXPENSE. I GET THE USUAL RUN AROUND OF "ADD MORE OIL EVERY NOW AND AGAIN."
SRS AIRBAG CONTROL UNIT FAILED. WARNING LIGHT INDICATOR APPEARS PERIODICALLY, BOTH WHILE DRIVING AND PARKED.
THE AIRBAG SENSOR WILL NOT GO OFF OF THE DASHBOARD AND WHEN MY HUSBAND RAN THE SCAN ON MY CAR, NOTHING CAME UP. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SOME TIME NOW AND IN OCTOBER I WAS IN A FRONT END ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF, BUT THE ICON IS STILL ON, ON MY DASH. INFORMED DEALERSHIP OF CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT AND THEN THEY INITIATED A CONTROLLED OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WHICH JUST ENDED RECENTLY. AWAITING RESPONSE FROM HONDA CORP REGARDING NEXT STEPS AS SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR VCM DID NOT CORRECT.
THE BACK HATCH DOOR WON'T STAY OPEN HYDRAULIC SYSTEM FAILED AND GATE FELL ON HEAD AND SHOULDERS HARD
VEHICLE PURCHASED IN APRIL OF 2013. REAR TAILGATE GAS STRUTS HAD TO BE REPLACED IN MAY 2014 DUE TO COMPLETE FAILURE. SAME OEM WAS REINSTALLED BY DEALER AND HAS FAILED AGAIN LESS THAN 18 MONTHS LATER.
PURCHASED VEHICLE USED FROM HONDA DEALERSHIP IN APRIL 2016 WITH 102,000 MILES. I NOW HAVE 106,000 MILES AND MY LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. UPON CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL IT SHOWS THE CASE AS BEING EMPTY OF OIL. I SHOW NO EVIDENCE OF AN OIL LEAK ON THE ENGINE OR ANY TELL TALE SIGNS ON THE GARAGE FLOOR OR DRIVEWAY. HIGHLY CONCERNED THAT THE LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON THIS LATE IN THE DECLINE OF ENGINE OIL.

AS SOON AS I STOPPED THE ENGINE DIED AND NO LIGHTS WOULD COME ON, HAD TO MANUALLY UNLOCK AND MANUALLY OPEN THE DOOR. CALLED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP, SAID IT WOULD BE TOWED IN THAT DAY 24 SEPT 2016, THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT, BUT FOR THIS TO HAPPEN WITH NO WARNING WHATSOEVER, IS OF CONCERN TO ME. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN A ROAD AT SPEEDS BELOW 50 MPH AND SUDDENLY FELT A HUGE BLOW TO THE SIDE OF MY HEAD, ALONG WITH A LOUD BANG. I THOUGHT AT FIRST MAYBE A DEER HAD COME THROUGH MY WINDOW, BUT BOTH SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS HAD DEPLOYED. I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING AND NOTHING HAD HIT ME. I DID NOT RUN OVER ANYTHING EITHER. I HAD THE SHERIFF DOCUMENT THAT THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE. THERE WERE ALSO CARS BEHIND ME THAT WITNESSED THIS EVENT. MY VEHICLE WAS LOOKED AT BY A REGIONAL ENGINEERING TEAM FROM HONDA. TODAY A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP CALL TO SAY THAT IT WASN'T THEIR (HONDA'S) PROBLEM AND THEY WOULD NOT BE OFFERING ANY COMPENSATION BECAUSE THERE WERE NO INTERNAL ERRORS SHOWING UP AND THERE ARE NO KNOWN ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLES SRS. THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHY THE AIRBAG HAD DEPLOYED, ONLY THAT THEIR TESTS SHOWED THERE WAS NO INTERNAL ERRORS. THE REP SAID THERE ARE A LOT OF REASONS AN AIRBAG CAN INADVERTENTLY DEPLOY BUT SINCE SHE WASN'T DRIVING WITH ME THAT DAY SHE COULDN'T TELL ME WHY MINE HAD, ONLY THAT NO INTERNAL ERRORS SHOWED UP. THE ESTIMATE TO REPLACE BOTH SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS IS OVER $8000.00.

IT WAS ALMOST EMPTY THAT TIME AND I HAD TO FILL MORE THAN 4QTS OF OIL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES FREQUENTLY.

HONDA DEALER REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER $600.00 DROVE HOME, WENT BACK NEXT DAY BECAUSE IT WAS NOT THE RIGHT FIX. DEALER HAD IT ALL DAY, SAID HE TALKED TO HONDA TECH DEPT. ON PHONE CHECKED COMPUTERS AND OTHER THINGS AS PER TECH ADVICE, EVERY THING IS WORKING AS IT SHOULD, NO COST TO ME BUT BRAKE PEDAL STILL GOES TO THE FLOOR. MY WIFE CAN NOT DRIVE THIS CAR, IT IS PARKED TILL YOU CAN TELL ME HOW IT CAN BE FIXED AND SAFE FOR US TO DRIVE AND EVERY ONE ON THE ROAD. I COULD NOT LIVE WITH MYSELF IF MY FAMILY WERE HURT OR IF THIS 2008 HONDA ODYSSEY COULD NOT STOP AND HURT OR KILLED OTHER PEOPLE. PLEASE MAKE HONDA FIX THESE BRAKES.

THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING A FAILURE TO READ THE DVD WHICH ALSO IS CAUSING THE BACKUP CAMERA SYSTEM TO FAIL WHILE DRIVING. THE ONLY FIX TO THE PROBLEM IS TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE DVD FOR THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM IN VERSION 4.92 AND WAS PLACED IN THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 5 YEARS AGO DUE TO PROBLEMS WITH THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM AT THAT TIME WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. I CONTACTED HONDA TODAY AND WAS INFORMED BY ONE REPRESENTATIVE THAT THEY WERE AWARE THAT DVDS ARE WEARING UNUSUALLY FAST, BUT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO EXCEPT ADVISE CONTACTING THE SELLER OF THE DVD TO BUY A NEW ONE FOR $149. I HAD SPOKEN TO SOMEONE YESTERDAY WHO ADVISED ME TO CONTACT THE DEALER WHO HAD TO REPLACE COMPONENTS OF THE NAVIGATION IN 2011 WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. I DID THAT AND THE DEALER IS UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING MORE. I CONTACTED THE SELLER OF THE DVD AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A REPLACEMENT FOR THE FAILED DVD. I CONTACTED HONDA A SECOND TIME TODAY UNDER THE RECALL DEPARTMENT AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT THERE WERE NO REPORTS OF THESE PROBLEMS AVAILABLE TO THEM AND THAT THIS IS NOT A COVERED ITEM BY RECALL OR WARRANTY. THE CASE # IS 04926816. SINCE THEY ADVISED ME THEY WERE UNAWARE OF THIS PROBLEM THE SECOND TIME WITH THE RECALL CONTACT I ADVISED THEM I WOULD MAKE THE NHTSA AWARE. ESSENTIALLY THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM AND BACKUP CAMERA SYSTEM ALL SHUTDOWN DUE TO UNUSUAL WEAR ON THE DVD UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT IN THE DVD READER AND WHEN A GLITCH IN READING THE DVD IS ENCOUNTERED THE ENTIRE SYSTEM SHUTS DOWN INCLUDING BACKUP CAMERAS. I ESPECIALLY FIND THIS UNUSUAL AS THIS DVD WOULD VIRTUALLY NEVER BE REMOVED SO ALL OF THE WEAR AND TEAR IS FROM INSIDE THE DVD READER LEADING TO THIS FAILURE. THIS FAILURE CAN HAPPEN ON STARTUP, OR WHILE DRIVING. THIS LAST OCCURRED 2 DAYS AGO, BUT HAS OCCURRED NOW OVER A 6 MONTH-1YR PERIOD OF TIME INTERMITTENTLY.
