WHILE MOVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH DOWN A MODERATE GRADE, I APPLIED LIGHT TO MODERATE BRAKING. I IMMEDIATELY FELT A VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END AND SHAKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS VIBRATION AND SHAKING ONLY OCCURRED WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE SENSATION WAS SEVERE ENOUGH TO QUESTION STABILITY OF THE VEHICLE SO I EVENTUALLY VISITED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT THE FRONT ROTORS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. IT SEEMS PREMATURE FOR THE ROTORS TO NEED REPLACEMENT AFTER ONLY 29,000 MILES, PARTICULARLY CONSIDERING THAT THE ORIGINAL BRAKE PADS THEMSELVES HAVE PLENTY OF LIFE LEFT. MY CONCERN FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY COMPELLED ME TO SPEND OVER $200 TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP REPLACE THE ROTORS (AT THEIR RECOMMENDATION) WITH NEWLY DESIGNED HONDA ROTORS. THE DEALERSHIP WAS GENEROUS IN GIVING ME A DISCOUNT, (ORIGINAL COST WAS TO BE IN EXCESS OF $300) HOWEVER HONDA CORPORATION REFUSED THE COVER THE COST OF THE REPAIRS WHATSOEVER. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND HAVE LEARNED THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE. HONDA'S REDESIGN OF THE ROTORS AND COMMUNICATIONS WITH THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMS THAT THERE IS A LEGITIMATE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES OF THIS VEHICLE. BRAKING AND STEERING CONTROL ARE COMPROMISED WHEN NEEDED MOST- GOING DOWN A HILL AT INTERSTATE SPEED. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SERIOUS, ONGOING SAFETY CONCERN FOR THIS VEHICLE AND ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER SLIDING GLASS SHATTERED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
TPM(TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR) LIGHT INDICATING LOW PRESSURE WHEN THERE IS NO ERROR. DEALER (SAN MARCO,TEXAS) CLAIMS THE ISSUE IS DUE TO CELL PHONE CHARGER INTERFERENCE WITH TPM SYSTEM. DEALER CLAIMS HONDA IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND SENT OUT A SERVICE BULLETIN TO LIMIT THE CELL PHONE CHARGER TO LESS THAN TWENTY MINUTES TO PREVENT THE TPM FAULT CODE AND DASH LIGHT FROM BEING SET. IN MY PROFESSIONAL OPTION, HONDA AMERICA HAS WHAT IS KNOWN AS A 'CONDUCTIVE ELECTRO-MAGNETIC INTERFERENCE" ISSUE WITH THEIR SYSTEM. BASED ON WHAT HAS BEEN COMMUNICATED, I BELIEVE THERE IS AN ELEMENTARY DESIGN FLAW WITH THEIR SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS EITHER THE TRANSMITTED ENERGY OR INTERNAL GENERATED SIGNALS OF CELL PHONE TO BE COUPLED INTO THEIR SYSTEM USING THE BATTERY LINES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD NOT FAR FROM MY HOME. MY SON WAS SITTING BEHIND ME ON THE CAR SEAT. AND WHEN I WAS STEPPING ON THE BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, I HEARD A HUGE BANG BEHIND ME AND THEN SUDDENLY MY SON'S CRYING! I LOOKED BEHIND ME AND SURPRISINGLY FOUND THAT THE SEAT BEHIND ME ON WHICH MY SON AND HIS CAR SEAT WAS SITTING FLIPPED OVER AND HIT MY SEAT IN THE BACK. MY SON'S FACE WAS INJURED AND BLEEDING. AND IT WAS VERY CLOSE TO HIS EYES. I WAS THINKING HOW CAN THAT HAPPEN! I WAS JUST AT A SPEED OF 25 MPH AND THE SEAT CAN FLIP OVER LIKE THAT. IF I WAS DRIVING ON A FREEWAY OR HIGH WAY, WHAT WILL BE THE RESULT? IT'S TOO DANGEROUS! I CANNOT IMAGINE IT. DESPITE THE INJURY ON MY SON'S FACE, I DO THINK MY SON HAS MENTAL INJURY. AFTER THAT HAPPENED, HE WOKE UP AND CRIED SEVERAL TIMES DURING NIGHT. HOWEVER, HE WAS SUCH A GOOD SLEEPER BEFORE. AND HE WAS AFRAID TO TAKE ANY VEHICLE AGAIN. HE BECAME VERY INDEPENDENT SINCE THEN. THEREFORE, I REALLY THINK THERE IS MENTAL INJURY ON MY SON. *TR
THE FARTHEST REAR DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT TORE IN HALF WHEN PULLED DOWN TO BE USED. WHEN INSPECTED IT WAS NOTED THAT THE PLASTIC NEAR THE CEILING THAT THE BELT ENTERS AND RETRACTS INTO WAS JAGGED AND SHARP. THERE HAS BEEN NO ACCIDENTS IN THIS VEHICLE AND NO KNOWN DAMAGE TO THAT AREA OF PLASTIC. THE AREA THAT IS JAGGED IS ALSO LOCATED IN A POSITION THAT DAMAGE TO THE AREA WOULD BE HARD TO DO FROM AN EXTERNAL FORCE AND APPEARS TO BE MORE LIKELY FROM THE NORMAL USE OF THE SEAT BELT RUBBING OVER THE PLASTIC. THE PLASTIC AREA AROUND THE JAGGED AREA DOESN'T SHOW ANY SIGNS OF WEAR OR DAMAGE EITHER. *TR
I PREVIOUSLY REPORTED THIS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT RECURRED. APPLICATION OF BRAKES CAUSE SHIMMY WHEN GOING DOWNHILL. TOOK IT TO DEALER AGAIN UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY AGAIN TURNED ROTORS AND EVENED UP THE BRAKE PADS WHICH DID FIX THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER COULD NOT OFFER A NON-SPECULATIVE EXPLANATION WHY THIS HAS TWICE OCCURRED NOW. *TR
WHEN DOING DOWN HILL ON THE FWY ABOUT 65 MILES THE BRAKES START TO SHAKE AND VIBRATE. WHICH IS VERY SCARY. I HAVE READ ONLINE EVERYONE IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE PROBLEM AND HONDA IS REFUSING TO FIX IT. THEY STATED THE ROUTER NEEDS TO BE RESURFACE BUT THIS IS ONLY 16000 MILES ON THE CAR.. WHICH MAKES NO SENSE.
FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, HAVE NOTICE A SHAKING OF THE AUTOMOBILE WHEN BRAKING. RECENTLY IT HAS BECOME SEVERE ENOUGH THAT I CONSIDERED IT A SAFETY HAZARD AND TOOK TO DEALER. DEALER SERVICE STATED THAT ROTORS WERE WARPED AND NEED TO RESURFACED. SERVICE REP STATED THAT THIS IS FAIRLY COMMON ON ODYSSEY, BUT CONSIDERED NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. HAVE NEVER SEEN BRAKE ROTORS WARP AT 30K MILES. MAJOR OF MILEAGE ON CAR DUE TO HIGHWAY TRAVEL; NOT STOP AND GO CITY TRAVEL. THIS SEEMS TO BE PREMATURE FOR A BRAKE FAILURE. I AM HAVING THE BRAKE ROTORS RESURFACED (AS RECOMMENDED BY HONDA SERVICE), BUT AM CONCERNED THAT THIS ISSUE WILL RETURN (SINCE THEY WILL BE THE SAME ROTORS). *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2 YEAR OLD HONDA ODYSSEY W/15,000 MILES ON A 35 MPH STATE ROAD IN THE EVENING. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VAN LOST COMPLETE POWER, EVERYTHING INSIDE WENT BLACK, BRAKES WENT, NO LIGHTS IN OR OUTSIDE WORKING, AND THE STEERING GOT VERY STIFF, MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VAN OFF THE ROAD. MY 5 YOUNG CHILDREN WERE IN THE VEHICLE AS WELL. (AGES 14, 6, 4, 2, & 5 MONTHS). THANKFULLY NO VEHICLES WERE ON THE ROAD IN FRONT OF ME OR STOPPED BC I WOULD HAVE HURT THEM BADLY. I JUST MISSED GETTING REAR ENDED BY 3 OTHER VEHICLES AS WELL. THANKFULLY WE WEREN'T TRAVELING THE BUSY INTERSTATE THAT EVENING, OR THIS COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN FATAL FOR MY WHOLE FAMILY AND POSSIBLY OTHERS AS WELL. PREVIOUS TO THIS (APPROX. 3 MONTHS OR SO) I HAD MADE COMPLAINTS TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT A POPPING NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN, WHEN A SHARP TURN WAS MADE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS "NORMAL". I ALSO HAVE A CONSTANT VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL, BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL, WHICH HONDA BALANCED THE TIRES AND RE SURFACED THE ROADERS. FOR A VEHICLE WHICH ALMOST COST ME $36,000 & 2 YEARS OLD WITH LOW MILES, SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THESE ISSUES. THE ISSUE WITH THE COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER NEEDS TO BE DIAGNOSED AND CORRECTLY FIXED, OR TAKEN OFF THE ROAD BEFORE IT CAUSES SOMEONE TO BE SEVERELY INJURED OR KILLED!!!! FIX IT CORRECTLY OR I WANT THE VEHICLE REPLACED OR MY MONEY BACK TO BUY A SAFER VEHICLE....NOT WE'RE UNSURE OF WHAT THE ISSUE IS OR THINK WE FIXED IT. I DON'T NEED MY FAMILY OR ANY OTHERS KILLED. *TR

THE VEHICLE BECAME INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
WHEN I WENT THROUGH A PUDDLE OF WATER MY BATTERY LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. *TR
HAD TO HAVE MY ROTORS SERVICED AROUND 40,000 MILES FOR BEING WARPED. NOW THE VAN IS AT 59,000 MILES AND THEY ARE WARPED AGAIN. I'VE CALLED HONDA CARE AND THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE ISSUE. READING ONLINE MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I'VE OWNED OTHER VEHICLES IN THE PAST AND HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE ROTORS. THIS HAS TOO BE A VEHICLE DEFECT TO BE HAVING THIS TYPE OF ISSUE ON A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PADS ON THE CARE ARE GOOD.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE OPENING THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW OPEN, IT EXPLODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
MY 6 MONTH PREGNANT WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR VAN FROM WORK TO HOME AND WAS ON A STATE HIGHWAY DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. THE RIGHT REAR TIRE BURST OUT CATASTROPHICALLY CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO GO OUT OF CONTROL FOR A BRIEF MOMENT BEFORE SHE MANAGED TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 15 K MILES AND IS LESS THAN 2 YEARS OLD. THE TIRES ARE CONTINENTAL MAKE THAT CAME WITH THE NEW CAR. THE VEHICLE (AND THE TIRES) HAS BEEN MAINTAINED AS REQUIRED BY THE CAR MAKER AND THE LAST TIRE ROTATION AND RE BALANCE WAS PERFORMED APPROXIMATELY 1 MONTH PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. WE STRONGLY BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR MANUFACTURING DEFECT WITH THE TIRE AND THIS WAS A SAFETY RELATED EVENT THAT COULD POTENTIALLY HAVE CAUSED A CRASH. WE HAVE FURTHER DETAILS OF TIRE IF NEEDED. *TR
WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE STEERING BEGINS TO SHAKE AS SOON AS BRAKES ARE APPLIED (EVEN LIGHTLY). THIS IS MY SECOND HONDA MINIVAN AND I DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH MY PREVIOUS ONE. I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS. *JS
WE ARE ON OUR WAY TO FT. JACKSON SOUTH CAROLINA TO ATTEND OUR DAUGHTERS BASIC COMBAT TRAINING GRADUATION, WITH 4 ADULTS AND 2 CHILDREN ON BOARD WITH BAGS AT CARGO REAR. WHEN DRIVING AT THE SPEED OF 70MPH AND EVERY TIME I APPLIED THE BRAKES I FELT A PRONOUNCE SHAKING, VIBRATION AND PULSATION OF THE STEERING WHEEL, AND FRONT PART OF THE VEHICLE, AND ALSO MY SEATING INFRONT NOTICE IT AND SHE WAS TERRIFIED OF WHAT GONNA HAPPENED. THIS IS HAPPENING THE ENTIRE ROUND TRIP FROM CLEVELAND OHIO TO SOUTH CAROLINA. IM RISKING THE LIFE OF MY FAMILY. WHEN I TRIED TO REPLICATE IT BY MYSELF THE CAR WILL NOT SHAKE. THE DEALER EXAMINE AND STATED THAT FRONT BRAKE ROTORS ARE SLIGHTLY OUT OF ROUND. AND TO REPLACE IT WILL CHARGED ME 379.95 AS WHAT THEY SAID ITS PAST BEYOND 12,000 MILES. VERY UNRELIABLE PARTS THEY PUT, VERY POOR METAL QUALITY OF BRAKE ROTORS CANT WITHSTAND NORMAL FRICTION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WAS SHAKING. SO TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE ROTORS HAD WARPED AND NEED TO BE RESURFACED. IT APPEARS TO BE TOO SOON SINCE THE BRAKE PADS WERE FINE. SO I DID PAY FOR THE RESURFACING. ANY ONE ELSE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS PLEASE REPORT IT. THE ROTORS SHOULD NOT WARP AT 30000 MILES. *TR

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR ROTORS WERE WARPED. THE FRONT AND REAR ROTORS WERE SHAVED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND THE POWER TO THE ENGINE STARTED DIMINISHING SUDDENLY WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. QUICKLY I COULD BARELY ACCELERATE. APPARENTLY THE ECO DRIVING MODE HAD SHIFT OFF A FEW CYCLING ERA OF THE ENGINE MAKING THE CAR IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE AND ALSO PROHIBITIVELY DANGEROUS.... *TR
LIKE MANY OTHERS HERE, I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY ROTORS WARPING. I HAD MY FIRST PROBLEM RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. I HAD TAKEN A LONG ROAD TRIP OVER THE SUMMER, AND THE MILES PUSHED ME OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAD TO PAY THE LOCAL HONDA DEALER TO RESURFACE THE ROTORS(OVER $200!). LESS THAN ONE YEAR LATER, I EXPERIENCED THE SAME SHAKING ETC WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. HONDA DID RESURFACE THEM A SECOND TIME AT THEIR COST (SINCE IT WAS WITHIN ONE YEAR). I WAS TOLD AT THAT TIME BY THE DEALER, THAT IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN, THE ROTORS WOULD HAVE TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. IT'S NOW 10 MONTHS LATER, AND ONCE AGAIN I AM EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER CAN'T DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I WAS TOLD BY MORE THAN ONE EMPLOYEE THAT THEY SEE THIS PROBLEM OFTEN, AND THAT THIS STYLE VAN IS MUCH HEAVIER THAN MY OLD ODYSSEY, AND THAT'S WHY THEY ARE WARPING, UNLIKE MY LAST VAN. I AM EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED! I NOW HAVE TO PAY THEM FOR NEW ROTORS AND PADS, AND I KNOW THAT IN A YEAR, WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN AND AGAIN! SHAME ON HONDA FOR NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS.
STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES SEVERELY WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE BRAKES WERE HOT DUE TO STEEP DESCENTS WHILE MOUNTAIN DRIVING. STEERING WAS SERIOUSLY IMPAIRED DUE TO EXTREME SHIMMYING EFFECTING THE ENTIRE FRONT END. BRAKING WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE. *TR

REAR RIGHT SIDE TAIL LIGHT DEVELOPED AN INTERIOR CRACK IN IT AND THERE ARE NO SCRATCHES OR DENTS INDICATING SOMEONE HIT IT. HONDA SAW THE DAMAGE WHEN IT WAS BROUGHT FOR REGULAR SERVICE AND REFUSED TO FIX IT SAYING THAT ITS OUR FAULT THAT THE TAILLIGHT CRACKED. THE MANAGER PRESSED ON THE CRACK WHICH MADE IT COME ALL THE WAY THROUGH.THE CAR IS HARDLY DRIVEN ONLY FOR FAMILY TRIPS AND IS HAND WASHED, WAXED, COVERED AND BEFORE BEING PLACED IN THE GARAGE FOR STORAGE AFTER EACH TRIP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A CHILD SOMEHOW WAS ALE TO WRAP THE MIDDLE REAR SEAT BELT AROUND HER NECK. THE CONTACT HAD TO CUT THE SEAT BELT FROM THE CHILD'S NECK BECAUSE IT DID NOT HAVE A TRADITIONAL RELEASE BUTTON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE SEAT BELT WAS FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
JUDDER AND VIBRATES AND MAKES BUZZING SOUND CONSTANTLY BUT INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER AND HONDA STATE THIS IS IN RELATION TO THE ECO FEATURE. RESEARCH BY ME INDICATES EITHER TORQUE CONVERTER AND/OR REAR MOTOR MOUNT NEEDS REPLACING. I WAS TURNING RIGHT INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH FOOT ON BRAKE (THERE WAS NO NEED FOR ACCELERATION TO GET INTO THE PARKING SPOT)- WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR SPED UP REALLY FAST ON ITS OWN (LIKE THE GAS PEDAL WAS BEING APPLIED- ONLY MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE THE ENTIRE TIME). THE CAR WENT CRASHING INTO THE MEDIAN- CATCHING THE UNDERCARRIAGE CAUSING IT TO STOP. I IMMEDIATELY PUT THE CAR INTO PARK. THE FORCE AND SPEED IN WHICH IT REACHED IN SUCH A SHORT DISTANCE WAS STARTLING AND SCARY FOR EVERYONE IN THE CAR. IT WAS AS THOUGH I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE CAR! *TR
VEHICLE SHUDDERED WHILE BRAKING AT 30-70 MPH ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING DOWNHILL, ALSO CAUSING STEERING WHEEL TO SHAKE BACK AND FORTH. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TODAY AND THEY FOUND WARPED ROTORS WHICH SEEMS UNUSUAL IN THIS LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE. THE DEALER RESURFACED THE ROTORS AND RE-INSTALLED WITH NEW BRAKE PADS AT NO CHARGE. *TR
AT AROUND 5:20PM ON 11/15/13, I WAS ON SANTOMAS EXPWY @ MONROE AND THE TRAFFIC LIGHT HAD JUST TURNED GREEN. VEHICLES HAD STARTED MOVING INCLUDING MINE. SUDDENLY ONE OF THE CARS AHEAD OF ME STOPPED SUDDENLY (NOT SURE WHY). THE CARD IN FRONT OF ME WAS SUCCESSFUL IN STOPPING. BUT, MY CAR (HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING 2012) DID NOT STOP. I APPLIED BRAKES, BUT THE BRAKES WERE NOT SUCCESSFUL IN MAKING THE CAR STOP. I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO APPLY OTHER BRAKES. I TRIED TO TURN THE VEHICLE TO GET A WIDTH FOR STOPPING, BUT THE BRAKES STILL DID NOT WORK AND MY CAR HIT THE BACK OF THE CAR IN FRONT WHICH THEN CREATED A CHAIN REACTION TO TWO MORE CARS AHEAD. THERE WAS NO PASSENGER IN ANY OF THE CARS AFFECTED AND JUST THE DRIVER. *TR
I HAVE 22K MILES ON MY ODYSSEY. A FEW MONTHS AGO I STARTED FEELING SHAKING UPON BRAKING WITH STEERING WHEELS ALSO SHAKING BADLY. FINALLY TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO AFTER A DRIVE TEST SAID "FRONT BRAKE VIBRATION - RECOMMEND BRAKE PADS AND RESURFACE ROTORS". HOWEVER THE HONDA COURTESY INSPECTION REPORT SAYS 8MM LEFT IN BRAKE PADS WHICH IS MORE THAN 60% LIFE. I STRONGLY FEEL THIS IS TOO SOON FOR ROTORS OR BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT AND SOMETHING OUGHT TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT HERE WHICH SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,050.
THIS IS THE SECOND HONDA ODYSSEY. THE FIRST WAS A 2005 THAT I OWNED FOR 7 YEARS AND DID NOT NEED THE ROTORS RESURFACED UNTIL THE VAN HAD 70000 MILES ON IT. I NOW OWN A 2012 AND WITH ONLY 20000 MILES ON IT THEY NEED TO BE RESURFACED. HONDA IS NOT COVERING STATING THAT IT IS DRIVING HABITS, HOWEVER I DRIVE THE SAME AS I DID WITH MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHEN I GOOGLE A 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER INDIVIDUALS THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR 2012 ODYSSEY HAVING TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE BRAKING SYSTEM. IF THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS FAILING THAT IT IS OPENING HONDA UP FOR LAWSUITS, ESPECIALLY WHEN ENOUGH PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. HONDA USED TO BE A VERY DIFFERENT COMPANY. *TR
I'M SUBMITTING THIS NOW IN RESPONSE TO AN EVENT THAT HAPPENED SEVERAL YEARS AGO, TRIGGERED BY A DEC. 27 2017 RECALL NOTICE. MY VEHICLE IS NOT LISTED AS AFFECTED BUT I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE BECAUSE THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. ON THAT DAY, A SECOND ROW OUTBOARD SEAT TIPPED FORWARD AND BANGED AGAINST THE BACK OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT DURING A SUDDEN DECELERATION (WE WERE GOING DOWN A SMALL HILL TOWARD A STOPLIGHT, WHERE A VEHICLE APPEARED IN CROSS-TRAFFIC AND UNEXPECTEDLY BLEW THROUGH ITS RED LIGHT, REQUIRING A SUDDEN STOP BY OUR VEHICLE). MY THEN-3-YEAR-OLD WAS SEATED IN HIS FORWARD FACING CAR SEAT, A BRITAX MARATHON CONNECTED USING THE LATCH ANCHOR SYSTEM, AND THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SEAT/CAR SEAT COMBINATION FLIPPED FORWARD. HE WAS SHAKEN AND SLIGHTLY BRUISED BUT OTHERWISE FINE, I BELIEVE AS A RESULT OF THE PROTECTION FROM THE SIDE WINGS OF THE CAR SEAT. AT THE TIME THE SECOND ROW SEATS HAD NOT RECENTLY BEEN MOVED. ABOUT TWO WEEKS PRIOR THEY HAD BEEN REMOVED FOR HAULING A LARGE PIECE OF FURNITURE. AFTERWARD I REINSTALLED THE VEHICLE SEATS AND BELIEVED THEM TO BE FULLY AND FIRMLY AFFIXED TO THE VEHICLE. I WAS EMOTIONALLY DISTURBED BY NOT ONLY THE TIPPING EVENT ITSELF, BUT BY THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THE SEAT HAD BEEN DANGEROUSLY UNATTACHED DURING THOSE TWO WEEKS. I INTENDED TO SUBMIT A REPORT BUT THEN DOUBTED MYSELF. HOWEVER, THE CONFIRMATION FROM THE RECENT RECALL NOTICE THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE FOR SOME HONDA ODYSSEY VEHICLES (AND THE KNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A REPAIR AVAILABLE) IMMEDIATELY MADE ME WANT TO SUBMIT THIS REPORT.
MY 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN YOU BRAKE AT HIGH SPEED INCLUDING THE STEERING WHEEL AS IF YOU WILL LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE HAMILTON HONDA DEALER FOR FIRST TIME IN 28 SEP 2013 WHO RE-SURFACED THE FRONT ROTORS UNDER WARRANTY AT 12428 MILES. THE ISSUE WENT AWAY FOR ABOUT 7000 MILES AND REAPPEARED AT 19963 MILES IN JULY 2014. WHEN I REPORTED THIS TO THE SAME DEALER THEY AGAIN RE-SURFACED BOTH FRONT AND BACK ROTORS + BALANCED ALL WHEELS UNDER WARRANTY. HOWEVER THE ISSUE CAME BACK AGAIN IN 2700 MILES CURRENTLY AT 22645 MILES. THE MECHANIC WENT WITH ME FOR THE TEST DRIVE AND I WAS ABLE TO SHOW HIM HOW THE VEHICLE SHAKES WHEN YOU BRAKE IN SPEEDS EXCESS OF 55 MILES. THE DEALER CHECKED AND SAID ALL THE ROTORS ARE WITHIN SPECS AND CANNOT BE FURTHER RE-SURFACED. I NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF ISSUE IN ANY OF MY OTHER VEHICLES I OWNED SO FAR. THIS ISSUE IS SHOWING UP FOR 3RD TIME BUT IT IS MORE SEVERE NOW. MY WIFE AND I HEARD GLASS BREAKING BUT WE WERE UNSURE OF THE SOURCE. WE HEARD IT AGAIN AND MY WIFE (PASSENGER SEAT) OPENED THE SUNROOF COVER AND OBSERVED SHATTERED GLASS. WIFE CAME HOME PARKED IN GARAGE 1.5 - 2.5 HOURS LATER OPENED GARAGE DOOR, GARAGE FILLED WITH SMOKE, FOUND HONDA ODYSSEY HAD SELF IGNITED AND SELF EXTINGUISHED ITSELF DUE TO LACK OF OXYGEN. INCIDENT AREA AT REAR CARGO LIGHT POSSIBLY EITHER REAR CARGO LIGHT OR REAR HATCH DOOR ONLY ELECTRICAL ITEMS IN THAT AREA THAT I AM AWARE OF - JUST A GUESS - FIRE DEPARTMENT CALLED TO SCENE TO WITNESS NOTE AND PROVIDE A REPORT. I SPOKE TO THE SUPERVISOR AND HE TOLD ME THEY RECEIVED MANY REPORTS ABOUT THE PROBLEM, BUT HEADQUARTERS HAD NOT ISSUED ANY RECALL. SO, HE COULDN'T PROVIDE ANY SOLUTION. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED, I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 6 AND 4 YEAR OLD IN THE CAR, AND I ALMOST HAD A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE I COULD NOT COMPLETE MY TURN. I WAS YESTERDAY AT THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR MY CAR'S SERVICE AGAIN, AND I MENTIONED IT TO THE SUPERVISOR AGAIN. HE SAID HE HEARD THIS SEVERAL TIMES, BUT HE COULD NOT PROVIDE ANY SOLUTION. WITH THE RAIN SEASON APPROACHING, IT IS A MATTER OF TIME FOR ME OR ANOTHER DRIVER TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. OUR 2012 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING ELITE VAN, PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN JUNE, 2012, EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION (SUA) EVENT ON JULY 27, 2013 AT APPROXIMATELY 3:53PM CST. I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH THE BRAKES DEPRESSED. PART WAY INTO THE PARKING SPACE, MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE REVVED UP VERY LOUD AND SURGED FORWARD. I CONTINUED TO PRESS THE BRAKE AS THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD RAPIDLY AND DID NOT STOP UNTIL IT HIT A STORE FRONT WINDOW/WALL. THE STEERING ALSO BECAME UNRESPONSIVE. THE ENGINE STOPPED REVVING AND I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE WITH THE KEY. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. MY SON WAS IN A MIDDLE ROW SEAT. VIDEO SECURITY SURVEILLANCE SHOWS THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON DURING THE ENTIRE EVENT AND DETAILS THE UNRESPONSIVE STEERING. WE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP BY PHONE IMMEDIATELY WITH A FOLLOW UP LETTER AND WE CONTACTED HONDA AMERICA CORPORATE OFFICE BY CERTIFIED LETTER AND SENT A FAX INFORMING THEM OF THE EVENT, AS WELL AS REQUESTING EDR DATA BE RETRIEVED. IT IS NOW SEVEN WEEKS LATER AND HONDA HAS FAILED TO COLLECT OR REFUSES TO PROVIDE THE DATA. THE DEALERSHIP STATED A DISTRICT REP/MANAGER INSPECTED OUR VEHICLE AND PROVIDED ONLY AN ONE PAGE DEALER INVOICE STATING 'NO DEFECTS IN MATERIAL OR FACTORY WORKMANSHIP WERE FOUND.' THIS 'INSPECTION' TOOK 0.79 HOURS PER THE DEALER INVOICE. HONDA REFUSES TO PROVIDE DETAILS OF WHAT WAS INSPECTED OR CHECKED AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING THOSE DETAILS EVEN THOUGH INSPECTION TOOK PLACE AT THEIR FACILITY. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THE DEALER INVOICE IS SUFFICIENT FOR US TO CONSIDER THE VEHICLE SAFE TO PUT ON THE ROAD AGAIN. UNDERSTANDABLY, WE DO NOT AGREE AS ROOT CAUSE OF THE SUA EVENT REMAINS UNIDENTIFIED. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY SITS AT THE BODY SHOP. VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 12,800 MI AT EVENT.
AFTER 12K MILES MY VEHICLES BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY WARPED DESPITE NO BRAKE ABUSE OR ABNORMAL DRIVING. HIGH SPEED STOPPED IS AFFECTED BY LACK OF STABILITY. REVIEWING NUMEROUS PUBLICATIONS, ONLINE PUBLICATIONS ETC I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS PARTICULAR MODEL CAR HAS EXTREMELY HIGH RATES OF SEVERE BRAKE WARPAGE WITH NORMAL USE. THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAS NOT CHANGED THEIR BRAKE DESIGN OR MATERIAL TO COUNTER ACT THE ISSUE.

IT ALSO HAPPENED WHEN LETTING OFF THE GAS TO TURN A CORNER, AND WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE, IT FELT AS THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS GOING TO STALL.

THE SAME PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED IN DEC 2012 WHEN HONDA ISSUED A TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE UPDATE, BUT ONLY WORSE. I WAS DRIVING AT APPROX 18MPH AND THE TRANSMISSION LOCKED THEN SLIPPED CONTINUOUSLY. IT WAS WORSE WHEN I WAS ON A HILL CAUSING THE VAN TO JERK BACKWARDS. IT CONTINUED TO OCCUR AND WHEN ON A FLAT ROAD I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT JERK SO HARD WHEN ACCELERATING TO 20MPH. I ENDED UP HAVING THE VAN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, HONDA SAID THEY ARE UNAWARE OF THE ISSUE. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND IT ONLY HAS 5000 MILES ON IT. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES THE CAR HAS EXTREMELY BAD VIBRATION AND THE CAR HAS TROUBLE SLOWING DOWN. I FIRST NOTICED THIS WAS OCCURRING AT ABOUT 22000 MILES. WHEN THE BRAKES GOT WARM AND WHILE GOING HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR DRIVING DOWN HILL THE CAR WOULD VIBRATE SO BAD IT SHAKES THE STEERING WHEEL AND MY ARMS. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE BREAKS WERE WARPED, BUT THAT IT WAS OK TO DRIVE. I DROVE THE CAR A LITTLE MORE BUT TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER TO LOOK AT AGAIN BECAUSE IT JUST DOESN'T FEEL SAFE. THEY RECOMMENDED NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS, THE BREAKS WERE ONLY HALF WAY WORN. AS WITH THE TIME BEFORE THEY SAID IT WAS MY DRIVING, BUT I DON'T DRIVE BAD, AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT.
