I purchased new Honda Odyssey Van in Oct. 2013 (Model 2014) from Auto Nation Honda, Lewisville, TX. I have done services ever since. On 12/14/2021; I was driving on the highway. The check engine light came on along with other lights. The car was vibrating. I pulled the van on the side of 635 Hwy turned the van off, back on, and it persisted. Eventually van was taken to a workshop. I was told nearly a $6,000 repair bill due to piston rings and oil getting into the spark plugs. The van only has 67,980 miles on it. Upon further review, it appears that this is a known Honda issue with this engine (V6, automatic). There are service bulletins covering the 2011-13 model years. I am reading online that now newer model years are experiencing the same issue. It also reads like this issue will come back... I guess starting on the 2014 model years, Honda changed the piston rings. I don't believe this helped as I am seeing the same issue on my van. I contacted Auto Nation Honda dealer, and I was told I must pay out of my pocket. I think Honda has not fixed this issue for model 2014 Odyssey, manufactured in 09/2013.
On 10/03/2021 I was driving on the road and they car started acting up and the lights on the dashboard all start light up, so I drove to the dealer did a diagnosis on the car came out To be misfire and piston ring 4 fault. So I did the repair that are required for me to operate my vehicle safely. So four years later Honda did the recall. I submitted my documentation and repair receipt. Honda at first denied my claim saying I don’t have a proof of payment ( which clearly shows on my receipt it’s been paid with a Visa card), so I replied back with the Honda dealer’s billing personal contact info so the can verify that it’s been paid. So that takes care that. Then they move on to denying me again saying I don’t have the correct code on my invoice. So I attached the dealer repair managers contact info for them to verify the repair ( which the manager said American Honda should honor the repair since they issue the recall) and after all whose work Honda is still denying it. I did some searching on the net. I am not alone on this. A lot of honda owners are having the same issues did the repair with their hard earned money and when it comes to recall. American Honda motors are trying everything they can to dishonor it. I thing there must be something that we can do to stop this.
my engine sparkplugs keep getting oil fouled causing rapid deceleration of van and check engine light to turn on damaging plugs, this only happens in the cylinder head closet to firewall, this engine defect may be due to Honda VCM system. Honda effuses to acknowledge my complaint. the other problem is the transmission that shacks the van and slams as I come to a stop I started to complain at 26,000 miles but they would not fix it unless it failed completely at 95,000 when it got worse Honda said it was out of warranty.
I’m writing about a concerning experience I had with our 2014 Honda Odyssey EX-L vehicle. We’ve had this vehicle for about 5 years and haven’t had any issues until recently. On Monday, June 14th approximately at 5:30pm PDT we were starting to accelerate on the freeway onramp when our Honda vehicle stayed in a low gear. I was unable to accelerate and eventually the dashboard lights started to flash and the HondaLink system restarted while this was occurring. The instrument panel then displayed the words “Failure” and I proceed to the emergency shoulder of the freeway. Prior to this incident there were no indicators that there was an issue with the vehicle. After turning off the vehicle, I was no longer able to get the vehicle started and it had to be towed to our long-time auto repair shop. After they ran a diagnostic test and checked the vehicle, they said everything passed except for the battery which was still good prior to the incident. For safety, the battery was replaced and we drove the vehicle home on Tuesday, June 15th. The next day, June 16th, while my wife was running an errand and after returning to the car it turned over very “sluggishly”, the HondaLink system restarted again, and then it began losing electrical power as well. My wife didn’t want to take any chances with having the vehicle shut down again while driving and ended up having it towed again to our mechanic. The auto shop ran another diagnostic and thoroughly checked the vehicle and couldn’t find anything wrong right away. They had to do some additional troubleshooting and found that the alternator was defective even though the Honda diagnostics didn’t report any issues with the alternator. The alternator was replaced and we haven’t experienced any additional issues to date. This incident is extremally concerning as the outcome could have been worse or tragic if this would have occurred while driving at a higher rate of speed on the road or freeway. Paint is flaking off top of car and before that on driver side rear door
FAILING SYSTEM: Cruise control. Attempting to stop vehicle at stop sign, engine raced, vehicle surged ahead, and could not be stopped by braking. Mechanic (not Honda) said fault was in cruise control system--that "CRUISE" was turned on, and even though cruise speed control was not set, the car was attempting to "return" to some set speed. (Normally, braking (or pressing the accelerator) turns cruise speed control off.) Several reports of the same problem appear in prior complaints, though I saw none that identified what my mechanic said was the problem. Has recurred, but not when "Cruise" lamp was on. AVAILABILITY: Yes. SAFETY: Serious, potentially life-threatening problem should the car enter an intersection with cross traffic, or overrun a barrier, or into a vehicle (or anything else) in front. First time it occurred was at the end of a long trip, mostly on the freeway (much on cruise control) but not at the first stop after leaving the freeway. REPRODUCED/CONFIRMED: Not replicated by mechanic--"Random occurrence". INSPECTED: No. WARNING LAMPS: None observed.
Pearl white paint peeling to expose the primer on the door, hood, roof, tailgate and the edge of the gas tank door. The recall expired in 2019 and I was never notified about the paint recall. I found out in 2021 when I took the van into the dealer to repair mechanical recalls because I had to ship the vehicle out to Hawaii. The dealer took pictures and sent a claim to Honda, but it was denied. Honda customer service was no help at all and could only direct me to a dealer, which I believe the dealer did what the could by taking pictures and submitting an estimate and claim on my behalf.
SEVERE JUDDER WHEN ACCELERATING. IT LEAVES THE DRIVER HESITANT TO PASS OR ENTER THE FREEWAY. THE RPM GAUGE AND SPEED GAUGE BOUNCE AND THE VEHICLE SHAKES AS IF YOU ARE PRESSING AND RELEASING THE GAS PEDDLE QUICKLY, OVER AND OVER.
I had this honda Odyssey and It has an issue with the engine which Honda Dealership confirm after I spend 700 USD. Honda Manufacturing is declining to fix the issue or pay attention to this issue.
PAINT IS PEELING FROM ROOF, ON TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD AND CAR NOT LOOKS GOOD. VEHICLE IS MOVING AND I HAVE SEEN THE PAINT PEEK OFF CHIPS DROPPED ON WINDSHIELD.
SLIDING DOOR ON PASSANGER SIDE CLOSES AND AFTER A FEW SECOND IT UNLATCHES FROM STRIKERS AND THE CHIME OF THE SLIDING DOOR OPEN STARTS TO SOUND WHILE DRIVING.
I WAS PULLING INTO A DRIVE THROUGH ON DECEMBER 6, 2020. AS I APPLIED THE BRAKE (I DRIVE WITH ONE FOOT - MY RIGHT FOOT) WITH MY RIGHT FOOT, THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE VAN MOVED ABOUT 5 FEET FORWARD AS I INCREASED THE BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE. I THEN SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE ENGINE WENT TO RED LINE. I PUSHED THE POWER BUTTON. NO ONE WAS INJURED, AND THE VEHICLE DIDN'T TOUCH ANYTHING AS THE DRIVETHROUGH AHEAD OF ME WAS EMPTY. THE DAY BEFORE, THE LDW AND FCW FAIL LIGHT CAME ON IN THE DASHBOARD WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING. WE HAVE TAKEN THE VAN TO THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR A CHECKOUT / DIAGNOSTICS OF WHAT HAPPENED. HONDA HAS OPENED A CASE ON THIS FOR US: CASE IS 11754879. NO PICTURES OR VIDEO AVAILABLE, UNFORTUNATELY, ALTHOUGH I AM CHECKING WITH FADI'S AT 12360 WESTHEIMER ROAD 77077.
WE HAVE A PEARL WHITE ODYSSEY. THE PAINT HAS PEELED OFF 2 TIMES, AND WE ARE TOLD IT IS NOT COVERED! I HAVE SEEN AND HEARD OF ISSUES WITH THIS SAME PAINT ON OTHER HONDA VEHICLES. HONDA KNOWS THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE PAINT ON THESE VEHICLES! THEY SHOULD FIX THIS INSTEAD OF THE CUSTOMER, SINCE THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE SINCE THE BEGINNING OF MANUFACTURE OF THE VEHICLES THAT HAVE THIS PAINT ON THEM! NOW WE HAVE A CAR THAT WE WANT TO KEEP FOR A WHILE BUT WE NEED TO KEEP SPENDING FUNDS TO KEEP IT LOOKING NICE, WHEN HONDA SHOULD BE COVERING A KNOWN FLAW. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION HAS CONSTANT HESITATION WHEN DOING REGULAR DRIVING. IT LIKE IT CANT FIND A GEAR.
OUR PAINT IS PEALING OFF THE ROOF BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND MOONROOF. THIS IS MOST LIKELY GOING TO BE COVERED BY HONDA. WE PREVIOUSLY HAD PEALING ON OUR HOOD AND HAD IT REPAIRED AT OUR OWN COST. HONDA REFUSED TO PAY FOR IT. CLEARLY THEY HAVE A PAINT ISSUE BY THE RECALL/WARRANTY ON THE ROOF/BACK DOOR PAINT, HOW WOULD ONLY THOSE PARTS BE AFFECTED? THEY NEED TO REPAINT, AND OR REIMBURSE ALL OF THE PEOPLE AFFECTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SECOND-ROW SEAT ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FAILED TO LATCH SECURELY. STOCKTON 12 HONDA (10860 S AUTO MALL DR, SANDY, UT 84070, (801) 981-4920) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PASSENGER'S SEAT WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BUT, NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V933000 (SEATS) AND 17V725000 (SEATS) AS POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO CONFIRM INFORMATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000. *BF*JB
2014 HONDA ODYSSEY POWER DOOR DOES NOT SEEM TO LATCH ALL OF THE WAY. 80% OF THE TIME WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED, A POPPING SOUND CAN BE HEARD. WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED IT IS ALWAYS IN A STATIONARY POSITION. I HAVE CONCERNS THE DOOR WILL OPEN INVOLUNTARILY WHILE IN MOTION.
WHILE THIS ISN'T A REAL "SAFETY" ISSUE, HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE REFERRED ME HERE TO COMPLAIN. THERE IS AN EXISTING EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE PEELING 2014 ODYSSEY WHITE PEARL PAINT, BUT ONLY FOR THE ROOF AND LIFTGATE. THE PAINT ON MY VEHICLE IS PEELING THERE... BUT ALSO ON THE UPPER PORTION OF ONE OF THE SLIDING DOORS. IT IS PEELING OFF OF THE PRIMER IN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY AS THE OTHER AREAS, AND ACTUALLY STARTED PEELING THERE FIRST, BUT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY EXTENSION AGAIN, NOT A SAFETY ISSUE... JUST AN UNHAPPY CUSTOMER COMPLAINT.
I WAS DRIVING 70MPH ON AN INTERSTATE. THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. THERE WAS NO IMMEDIATE CHANGE IN VEHICLE PERFORMANCE AND THERE WERE NO ODORS PRESENT SO I CONTINUED DRIVING FOR SEVERAL MINUTES TOWARDS THE NEXT EXIT. ABOUT .5MI AWAY FROM THE EXIT, THE ABS, FCW, LDW, AND BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON, THE AIR CONDITIONER AND CONSOLE TURNED OFF, AND THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED. THIS PREVENTED THE VEHICLE FROM BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE. THE ENTIRE VEHICLE ESSENTIALLY LOST POWER. THE LOCAL DEALER DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS AN OIL LEAK IN THE SPOOL VALVE THAT THEN DESTROYED THE ALTERNATOR AND FRIED THE BATTERY. THE MANUFACTURER (HONDA) RECENTY ISSUED TSB 20-023 DETAILING THE PROBLEM AND REPAIR PROCEDURE, BUT IT WAS LIMITED TO THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK, NOT ANY OF THE OTHER COMPONENTS THAT WERE DAMAGED. MY UNDERSTANDING OF THE INCIDENT LEADS ME TO BELIEVE A FIRE COULD HAVE BROKEN OUT DUE TO THE LOCATION OF THE LEAK ONTO THE OTHER ENGINE COMPONENTS.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, VEHICLE STARTED TO SHUDDER AND CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. EXITED THE NEXT EXIT AND TOOK TOOK THE VAN TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC SHOP THE NEXT MORNING. THEY REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS, DUE TO BEING FOULED, AND ALSO COIL PACK FOR CYLINDER 3, DUE TO MISFIRE CODE ON CYLINDER 3. WITHIN A MONTH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME SHUDDER AND FLASHING CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR LIGHT. TOOK THE VAN IN TO MY MECHANIC AND THE CODE SHOWED MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 3. HE REPLACED THE SPARK PLUG DUE TO THE FOULING OF THE NEW PLUG AND SAVED IT FOR ME TO PRESENT TO HONDA. HE ALSO SWITCHED COIL PACK 2 WITH COIL PACK 3. HE ADVISED ME OF HONDA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 13-081 AND EXPLAINED THE BUILD DATE OF OUR ODYSSEY WAS LISTED AS 08/13 AND WE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY EXTENSION THAT HONDA WAS EXTENDING TO THE 11-13 MODELS WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AS WE WERE EXPERIENCING. I CALLED THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED THE CIRCUMSTANCES AND SITUATION AND THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED ME OUR VAN WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY EXTENSION AND AS PROBLEMS CONTINUED TO ARISE TO CONTINUE WHAT WE WERE DOING AND FOLLOWING RECOMMENDATIONS OF OUR MECHANIC (WHO HAS ADVISED ME TO NOW GET RID OF VEHICLE DUE TO HONDA'S POSITION) AND THAT IN THE TECHNICIAN'S OPINION FUEL INJECTORS WOULD PROBABLY BE THE NEXT COURSE OF ACTION.
DTC B0020-13 DRIVERS SIDE SRS INFLATOR FAILURE VEHICLE ONBOARD COMPUTER SHOWED ABOVE CODE BOTH WHILE STATIONARY AND DRIVING. THIS IS A MAJOR DRIVER SAFETY ISSUE. ESTIMATED REPAIR $1,100. *TR
2014 HONDA ODYSSEY, PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2014 AND ALWAYS GARAGE KEPT, RANDOMLY OPENS ALL OF THE WINDOWS AND SUNROOM. I KNOW IF THE REMOTE UNLOCK BUTTON IS HELD DOWN, ALL OF THE WINDOWS AND SUNROOM WILL OPEN, BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE. IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WITH NO ONE TOUCHING THE BUTTON. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 30 TIMES NOW, I GO OUT TO MY VAN AND EVERYTHING IS OPENED UP. IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST FOUR TIMES NOW WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE IN THE RAIN CAUSING WATER TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. *TR
I HAVE A PEARL WHITE 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE PAINT IS PEELING UNDER THE BACK GLASS WINDOW NEAR THE WIPER BLADES, DUE TO MANUFACTURE POOR JOB OF PAINTING . THIS WAS REPORTED FROM DIFFERENT PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THIS MODEL AND COLOR. THIS US A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM SINCE PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING AND FRUSTRATED THAT IT'S NOT TAKEN CARE BY HONDA. I'VE TRIED BACK IN MAY 2020 WITH AN EMAIL TO HONDA AND ASKED TO TAKE A LOOK BUT WAS NEVER CALLED BACK. I DIDN'T WANT TO GO IN BC OF COVID 19. VERY DISAPPOINTED. I HAVE A 2004 PILOT, NEVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH PAINT PEELING FOR NO REASON . *TR
THE PAINT ON MY 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY IS PEELING. THE ARE ABOVE THE WINDSHIELD AND IN BETWEEN THE MOONROOF HAS A AREA OF ABOUT 6"X6" THAT JUST FLAKED OFF. *TR
A FEW YEARS AGO, THE HONDA ODYSSEY 2014 WAS MAKING SHIFTING NOISES AT CERTAIN SPEEDS. HONDA SAID IT WAS A SOFTWARE PROBLEM AND UPGRADED THE SOFTWARE AND SERVICES THE TRANSMISSION FLUID FOR FREE. HOWEVER, WITHIN THE LAST YEAR OR TWO (ABOUT 85,000-125,000) IT SOUNDED LIKE AN ENGINE BREAK WHEN COASTING DOWN FROM SPEED (LIKE THE ENGINE WAS SHIFTING DOWN AND SLOWING THE CAR). TODAY (APRIL 17, 2020) IT BEGAN TO BUCK ON THE HIGHWAY AND THEN SHIFTED WITH MORE BUCKING WHEN STARTING BACK UP FROM A STOP. SEEMS LIKE TRANSMISSION IS FUNCTIONING IMPROPERLY
WHILE DRIVING, I WAS INTERMITTENTLY USING THE SEAT WARMERS (TOGGLING BETWEEN THE HIGH, LOW, AND OFF SETTINGS.) UPON EXITING THE VEHICLE, THE BACK OF MY LEGS FELT VERY SORE AND IRRITATED. THE NEXT MORNING, IT WAS EVIDENT I HAD SECOND DEGREE BURNS, WHICH WAS CONFIRMED 2 DAYS LATER BY A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL, WHO TREATED ME FOR THE BURNS.
(2014 HONDA ODYSSEY EX-L). ON FRI, 02-21-2020, 3:47PM, I WAS SLOWING TO STOP AT INTERSECTION. BEFORE COMING TO COMPLETE STOP, ENGINE BEGAN TO SHUDDER, BUT DID NOT COMPLETELY STALL/STOP, AND THE MIL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ENGINE CONTINUED TO SHUDDER WHILE IDLING AT COMPLETE STOP. I GENTLY APPLIED ACCELERATION TO 10-MPH. ENGINE CONTINUED TO SHUDDER AS I CONTINUED AND STOPPED AT ANOTHER TRAFFIC LIGHT. AGAIN I GENTLY APPLIED ACCELERATION. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO SHUDDER UNTIL I FOUND A SAFE PLACE TO PARK AND SWITCHED IT OFF. THE ENGINE SHUDDERED AT A CONSISTENT LEVEL FOR A TOTAL OF ABOUT 8-MINUTES. I CALLED MY LOCAL HONDA SERVICE DEPT TO ASK ABOUT POSSIBLE CAUSES AND IF THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THE SERVICE REP ASKED ME ABOUT A PREVIOUS REPAIR NOTED ON HIS COMPUTER FOR AN ISSUE THE VAN HAD REGARDING THE REPLACEMENT OF AN OIL SENSOR IN OCTOBER 2019, AND IF IT WAS RELATED. I TOLD HIM I DIDN'T KNOW. SINCE HE COULDN'T IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM, HE ADVISED ME NOT TO START THE ENGINE AND DRIVE BECAUSE IT COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE MORE DAMAGE, AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THEN I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND MY VAN WAS TAKEN TO MY HONDA SERVICE DEPT. ON THE FOLLOWING MONDAY, A SERVICE REP CALLED ME WITH THE DIAGNOSIS CODE P0303, WHICH HE SAID INDICATES THAT A MISFIRE WAS DETECTED IN THE #3 CYLINDER. THE REP SAID THAT THIS ISSUE ALLOWED OIL TO PASS BY THE MULTIPLE OIL RINGS ON THE PISTON INTO THE CHAMBER AND FOULED THE SPARK PLUG. HE TOLD ME THAT THIS ISSUE WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THE SERVICE REP QUOTED $4,420.00 TO REPAIR OBDII CODE P0303. I ASKED HIM IF THE MALFUNCTION COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. THE SERVICE REP SAID THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT A RESULT OF ANY DRIVER ACTION OR LACK OF MAINTENANCE. HE SAID THAT HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND I SHOULD CALL AMERICAN HONDA AUTOMOBILES (800-999-1009).
PAINT IS PEELING OFF THE TOP OF VEHICLE
PAINT PEELING OFF THE TAILGATE WHILE IN MOTION ON A SUBURBAN STREET. THE PAINT THAT DELAMINATED ENDED UP ON THE BACK WINDOW WHILE DRIVING, BLOCKING SOME OF THE WINDOW ABOVE THE TAILGATE. HAD TO PULL OVER AND PEEL OFF THE WINDOW. IT WASN'T A LARGE BLOCKAGE BUT IT WAS ENOUGH TO NOTICE AND SURPRISING. I WISH I HAD GOTTEN A PHOTO OF THE PAINT ON THE WINDSHIELD BUT DIDN'T THINK TO DO THAT. WAS MORE CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY. HONDA KNOWS ABOUT THE PAINT PEELING ISSUE BUT WILL NOT DISCUSS IT AND REFERRED TO THE DEALER. DEALER SAYS IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE BUT HONDA WILL NOT FIX DUE TO VIN NOT BEING ELIGIBLE IN THEIR DATABASE. WHY IT'S NOT ELIGIBLE, SINCE IT'S THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, YEAR AND PAINT COLOR AS ALL THE OTHER ODYSSEYS WITH THIS ISSUE, I DO NOT KNOW.
AFTER GETTING A CAR WASH FROM AN AUTOMATED CAR WASH, WHILE DRIVING TO A PARKING STALL TO VACUUM THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. IN THE PROCESS OF TURNING LEFT INTO THE PARKING STALL AND BRAKING TO PARK THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY REV'D, ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE OVER A PARKING CURB BLOCK AND INTO A POLE AT THE CAR WASH. THE RESULTING COLLISION HAPPENED ACROSS THE SPAN OF HALF A PARKING SPACE AND KNOCKED THE VEHICLE BACKWARDS A COUPLE FEET AFTER COLLIDING WITH THE POLE. THE COLLISION TRIGGERED BOTH FRONT AIR BAGS AND RESULTED IN A TOTAL LOSS OF THE VEHICLE AND PROPERTY DAMAGE OF THE CAR WASH.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPARK PLUG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE CYLINDER WAS LEAKING OIL, WHICH CAUSED THE SPARK PLUG FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MECHANIC CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE 2013 MODELS WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 216,000.
THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHUDDERING WHEN SHIFTING.THE DEALER SAID TO FIX ITTHEY WOULD HAVE TO FLUSH THE TRANSMISSION THREE TIMES WITH NEW FLUID ANDDO A COMPUTER UPGRADE TO FIX IT.SINCE MY CAR HAS IS SIX YEARS OLD AND OVER 75 THOUSAND MILES 86 THOUSAND.THEY CHARGED ME $550.00 FOR THIS SERVICE. MY PROBLEM IS THIS IS A KNOWN PROLEM WITH HONDA ODYSSEY, ITS ALL OVER THE INTERNET.MANY DIFFERENT YEAR MODELS, THE SERVICE MGR. AND MY SALESMAN BOTH TOLD ME 2014 WAS A YEAR THAT HAD MANY TRANSMISSION TROUBLES. IF ITS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS THEY SHOULD FIX IT. AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR ITBECAUSE OF THEIR NEGLECT WARRANTY OR NOT.
IN THE MORNING WHEN I FIRST TURN ON THE CAR THERE IS BIG JERK WHEN CHANGING GEARS FROM 15 TO 20MPH I TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND IT GOES AWAY THIS HAPPENS ONLY ONCE IN THE MORNING. DURING THE DAY DRIVING THE STREETS A VERY SMALL SHUDDER JERK IS FELT NOT AS BIG AS THE ONE IN THE MORNINGS BUT THIS ONE IS CONSTANT THROUGH THE DAY
I WAS DRIVING MY ODESSEY HOME FROM WORK IN AVERAGE RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. 30 MINUTES AFTER LEAVING WORK, I CAME TO A STOP AT A STOP LIGHT. WHEN I ACCELERATED UPON THE LIGHT TURNING GREEN MY VAN SHUDDERED/JERKED WHEN SHIFTING GEARS BETWEEN 15 & 20 MPH. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A FLUKE OR BUMP IN THE ROAD. THEN I CAME TO ANOTHER STOP AT A SECOND STOP LIGHT, NOT FIVE MINUTES LATER, AND AGAIN WHEN ACCELERATING IT REPEATED THE SHUDDER/JERK UPON SHIFTING BETWEEN 15-20MPH. I THEN CONTINUED ANOTHER 20-30 MINUTES HOME AND THE ISSUE REPEATED EVERY TIME I HAD TO SLOW MY SPEED BELOW 20MPH IT SHUDDERED/JERKED UPON ACCELERATING. I MADE IT HOME, DID NOT TURN OFF THE VAN, MY HUSBAND GOT IN AND DROVE IT TO A LOCAL SHOP ABOUT 5MIN DOWN THE ROAD AND EXPERIENCED ROUGH SHIFTING FROM PARK INTO DRIVE AND THE CONTINUED ISSUE OF ROUGH SHIFTING BETWEEN 15-20MPH. AT OUR ARRIVAL TO THE SHOP HE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND THEN RESTARTED IT AND WE RETURNED HOME. ON THIS RETURN TRIP AND THE NEXT DAY ON MY COMMUTE TO WORK THERE ARE NO FURTHER ISSUES OF ROUGH SHIFTING OR JERKING WHEN SWITCHING GEARS. BUT NOTHING WAS DONE TO CAUSE THIS TO START AND OTHER THAN TURNING OFF THE VAN AND RESTARTING IT, NOTHING WAS DONE TO REMEDY IT EITHER. I DID NOT TAKE IT TO A SERVICE CENTER, BECAUSE THE ISSUE CAN NOT BE REPLICATED AT THIS TIME.

THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SCOTT HONDA OF WEST CHESTER (706 AUTOPARK BLVD, WEST CHESTER, PA 19382) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT IT WOULD COST OVER $3,000 TO REPLACE THE PISTON RINGS AND CLEAN THE PISTONS. THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT COVERED EARLIER MODELS, BUT THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
PARKED ON A VERY HOT DAY IN A PARKING LOT THE ELECTRIC DOORS WON'T OPEN. IF I DRIVE THE VAN FOR A MINUTE OR TWO AND STOP, THE DOORS WILL WORK. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. HONDA CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. ON THE INTERNET, OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR HONDA VEHICLES. ONE PERSON WROTE THAT HE REPLACED THE POWER ON OFF SWITCH ON THE DASH THAT CONTROLS THE DOORS EVEN THOUGH HIS VEHICLE SHOWED NO COMPUTER CODE ERRORS. HE SAID THAT SO FAR IT SOLVED HIS PROBLEM. HONDA ONLY LOOKS FOR COMPUTER CODE ERROR AND IF THERE IS NO ERROR, THEY SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM.
ON JUNE 21, 2019 MY FAMILY WAS RETURNING HOME FROM THE BEACH (PCB), AND ABOUT 3 HOURS INTO THE TRIP ON US 431 NORTH, AROUND 1 PM WE HEARD A LOUD BOOM OR POP ON THE ROOF. SOUND LIKE A SHOT GUN ACCORDING TO WIFE. WE PULLED OVER AND SUNROOF HAD 16 INCH SEEM CRACK ACROSS THE SUNROOF. ONE SIDE OF CRACKED GLASS WAS RAISED ABOUT 1/4 INCH. WE CONTINUED TO DRIVE 25 MPH ON SHOULDER AS WE WHERE IN NOWHERE, ALABAMA. ABOUT 3 OR 4 MINUTES LATER WE STOPPED AND 1 X 4" GLASS HOLE IN SUNROOF. WE CONTINUED DRIVING AND WITHIN MINUTES THE HOLE BECAME A 1 FT X 2 FT HOLE IN SUNROOF. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. WE PASSED NO CARS OR OVERPASS'S WHEN SUNROOF EXPLODED FOR NO REASON. NO HOUSES OR BUSINESSES WITHIN 5 MILES ACCORDING TO SEALE POLICE OFFICER.
REAR WINDOW EXPLODED WHEN DRIVERS DOOR SHUT WITH NO UNUSUAL FORCE -- JUST SHUTTING THE DOOR AS NORMAL. THE THIS HAPPENED AT ABOUT 8AM. THE CAR WAS PARKED/STATIONARY. THE SHATTERING LEFT A HOLE ABOUT THE SIZE OF A BOWLING BALL BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SIDE. GLASS FLEW EVERYWHERE; LUCKILY MY CHILDREN WERE NOT IN THE BACK SEAT AT THE TIME. INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR AIR TEMPS WERE NOT EXTREME. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING THAT HIT THE WINDOW. SEVERAL PEOPLE WERE AROUND AT THE TIME AND NOBODY SAW ANYTHING UNUSUAL.
P0303 MISFIRE BURNING OIL CAUSING OIL LOSS AND MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 1-3
WHILE BRAKING AT 50+MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 58,000 MILES ON IT. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR OVER A YEAR. WE HAVE HAD THE TIRES ROTATED AND BALANCED, THE ROTORS AND BREAK PADS ARE GOOD. THIS IS BECOMING A SAFETY HAZARD AND HONDA NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND CAR BEGIN MISFIRING. HAD TO DRIVE VERY SLOW BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY ISSUES RELATED TO MISFIRE FOR A FEW MILES TO GET THE CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY. GOT CAR TO REPAIR SHIP AND THEY REPLACED ALL SPARK PLUGS BECAUSE THEY WERE IN BAD SHAPE AND ONE NO LONGER WORKED. THE CAR RAN FINE AFTER THAT. 4 MONTHS LATER WHILE ON HIGHWAY SAME MISFIRE HAPPENED. I TOOK CAR TO HONDA DEALERSHIP AND SAID THE O-RINGS NEED REPLACED. THEY TRIED TO GET HONDA TO PAY FOR REPAIRS BECAUSE THEY SAID IT'S THE SAME ISSUE THAT LED TO A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR 2011-2013 HONDA ODYSSEYS. IN THAT CASE THE "PISTON RINGS IN CERTAIN CYLINDERS MAY ROTATE AND ALIGN, LEADING TO ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION AND SPARK PLUG FOULING." HONDA OF AMERICA SAID THEY WOULD NOT PAY TO FIX MY VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH ITS THE SAME ISSUE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
THE FUSES KEEP HAVING TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE WHEN IT TRANSITIONS FROM ECO TO REGULAR THE CAR STUTTERS AND THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND STARTS BLINKING. I THEN HAVE TO TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT. THE CAR ONLY GOES UP TO LIKE 20MPH THE SLOWLY INCREASES THEN DECREASES AGAIN THE LIGHT COMES BACK ON. THIS BEGAN HAPPENING ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO BUT MAYBE A LITTLE BIT BEFOREHAND...NOT EXACTLY SURE OF THE EXACT DATE. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING TO WORK.
PAINT PEELING ON ROOF. COLOR IS WHITE PEARL ODYSSEY 2014 . I WAS ON THE FREEWAY WHEN I HEARD A FLUTTER AND SAW WHAT I THOUGHT WAS PAPER FLYING THROUGH MY BACK WINDOW. THE NEXT DAY I SAW THAT PAINT HAD PEELED OFF THE ROOF OF THE VAN.
AT 26608 MILES FRONT ROTORS HAD TO BE RESURFACED. HONDA DEALER DID THIS AT 'NO CHARGE FOR FIRST TIME ONLY.' ROTORS VIBRATED AGAIN AT 50000 MILES AND WERE REPLACED INDEPENDENTLY WITH NON HONDA PARTS. NOW AGAIN AT 70000 MILES THE VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING IS WORSE THAN EVER BEFORE. BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED AS WELL WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. WITH SO MANY OWNERS HAVING THIS ISSUE HONDA NEEDS TO ADDRESS IT.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY, I HEARD A LOUD BANG, AND WHEN I REACHED MY DESTINATION, SAW A BOW TIE SHAPED HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF MY MOONROOF. WHEN I HEARD THE NOISE, I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH IN A LOCAL STREET IN START STOP TRAFFIC DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE. TEMPERATURES WERE MILD, AND THERE WERE NO LARGE VEHICLES OR FLYING DEBRIS AROUND THAT I NOTICED THAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE HOLE. I AM GETTING IT REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY FOR SAFETY REASONS AROUND MY FAMILY, AND WAS QUOTED ABOUT $900 FOR PARTS AND LABOR.

I CHECK THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL USING THE DIPSTICK WHICH SHOWS THE OIL LEVELS ARE WITHIN THE LIMITS ON THE STICK. THE DASHBOARD MESSAGE (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT + CHECK EMISSIONS MSG) SUDDENLY APPEARED WHILE DRIVING ON A WARM AFTERNOON AT 45MPH (ABOUT 15 MINUTES INTO THE RIDE).
2014 HONDA ODYSSEY WHICH IS EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUE AS THE 2013 HONDA ODYSSEY WHERE PISTON RING 1 -4 WITH LEAK OIL AND FOUL THE SPARK PLUGS. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE ENGINE MISFIRES AND VIBRATES SIGNIFICANTLY AND REDUCES DRIVABILITY. DUE TO THE WARRANTY EXTENSION ON PRIOR YEARS THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN DESIGN DEFECT FOR THIS MODEL AND ENGINE BUT NOT FOR THIS MODEL YEAR. WHEN THE ISSUE HAS MANIFESTED IT HAS BEEN WHEN DRIVING BOTH TIMES HAS BEEN ON A CITY STREET. ESTIMATES FOR REPAIR ARE $4,200.
WE HAVE HAD ON GOING PROBLEMS WITH OUR ROTORS. THEY HAD TO BE MACHINED AFTER ONLY 15,000 MILES AND REPLACE AFTER 30,000 MILES. WE REPLACED THEM WITH HIGH END NAPA ROTORS SINCE WE DID NOT TRUST HONDA ROTORS AND HONDA REFUSED TO REPLACE THEM. NOW AT 54,000 MILES, THE BRAKES ARE SHIMMYING AGAIN.
