BOTH AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS FAILED. WHEN OPENED MANUALLY, THE DRIVES SIDE SLIDING DOOR COMPLETELY POPPED OUT AND FELL OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING GARAGE AND HAD NOT BEEN USED FOR 8 DAYS. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT COMPONENT BROKE TO CAUSE THIS. ATTACHED PICTURE IS OUR BEST ATTEMPT TO PUT THE DOOR BACK ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE SPEED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEN DRIVEN TO WALDORF HONDA (2450 CRAIN HWY, WALDORF, 20301). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. INITIALLY, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD BE COVERED, BUT LATER STATED THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
TRANSMISSION SHAKES, JUDDERS ABOUT 20MPH THRU ABOUT 50MPH. TRANSMISSION JERKS AND LUNGS. I HAVE SEEN COUNTLESS OTHER COMPLAINTS *ALL THE SAME* THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED, THE VEHICLE WAS SLOW TO RESPOND. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CONCORD HONDA (1461 CONCORD AVE, CONCORD, CA 94520, (855) 679-6829) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE RESURFACED AND UPGRADED FOR BETTER PERFORMANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WENT TO START THE THE VAN WOULDN'T START. PUSHED THE PUSH START AGAIN IT STARTED. GOT 10 MINUTES DOWN THE ROAD GOING ABOUT 30 MPH AND FELT A HARD JERK AND IT SHOOK A FEW TIMES AND THE STARTED IDLING HARD AND JERKED FORWARD . SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING WAS GOING TO FALL OUT THE BOTTOM OF IT.NO SERVICE LIGHTS CAME ON. THEN GOT TO WORK SHUT IT OFF WHEN BACK OUT 10 MIN LATER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE FCW LIGHT WAS ON FELT LIKE IT WAS STILL IDELING HARD. LOOKS LIKE THERE IS A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. WONDER WHY HONDA IS NOT RECALLING THEM. I HAVE 61,300 MILES ON MINE. SO HOW MANY COMPLAINTS DOES A CAR COMPANY HAVE TO HAVE TO ISSUE A RECALL. THESE ARE NOT INEXPENSIVE VEHICLES. MAY HAVE TO LOOK INTO AN ATTORNEY. I CAN SEE WHERE THIS COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE.
OUR 2014 DIAMOND WHITE PEARL HONDA ODYSSEY HAS A FACTORY PAINT DEFECT CALLED DELAMINATION. THE PAINT STARTED PEELING OFF IN SHEETS / LARGE SECTIONS FROM THE ROOF IN JANUARY 2019 AND THEN THE TAILGATE IN FEBRUARY 2019. THE WHITE PAINT BASE COAT IS CLEANLY SEPARATING FROM THE ED PRIMER. AMERICAN HONDA USA REFUSES TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF THE PROBLEM AND ACTUALLY TRYING TO STATE THIS IS OWNER WEAR & TEAR? THEY NEED TO PAY FOR THIS DEFECT 100% AND HONDA NEEDS TO ADMIT THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM AFFECTING ALL NEWER WHITE HONDA'S LIKE 2016 HRV, 2015 PILOTS, FITS & ODYSSEYS, 2014 PILOTS & ODYSSEYS, 2013, 2012 ETC ETC. ANYTHING WHITE FROM HONDA AND EVEN ACURA, MADE IN THEIR USA & MEXICO FACTORIES. BRAKE ROTORS - DO I REALLY NEED TO GO INTO DETAIL? 54,000 MILES AND FRONT ROTORS HAVE BEEN RESURFACED TWICE AND NOW THE REAR NEED IT AS WELL. SEVERE SHIMMYING/VIBRATION DURING BRAKING. OBVIOUSLY THIS CAUSES INCONSISTENT REACTION FORCES BETWEEN THE TIRE AND ROAD SURFACE THAT COULD CAUSE UNPREDICTABLE VEHICLE RESPONSE! DOES A CHILD NEED TO LOOSE THEIR LIFE BEFORE A RECALL IS ISSUED? DOES ANYONE READ THESE COMPLAINTS? IS HONDA DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS? HOW HAS THE NHTSA NOT PERFORMED AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS? COME GET MY VAN AND TRY IT OUT!
THE "STANDARD SEAT ASSEMBLY" AS DEFINED BY FIG-1A OF FMVSS 213 DEFINES SEAT/SEAT-BELT GEOMETRY SUCH THAT A SEATBELT BUCKLE SHALL NOT EXTEND BEYOND175MM (~6IN) FROM THE SEAT BIGHT. THE STANDARD SEEMS TO ALLOW CAR MANUFACTURERS TO UTILIZE SEAT BELT BUCKLE ASSEMBLIES ANYWHERE IN THE 0 TO 175MM RANGE FROM THE BIGHT. A BIGHT-TO-BUCKLE (B2B) DISTANCE OF 175MM MAKES IT DIFFICULT (OR IMPOSSIBLE) TO PROPERLY SECURE CHILD CAR SEATS, USING THE VEHICLE'S SEAT BELT, IF THE CHILD SEAT DEPTH IS SHALLOWER THAN 175MM. THIS HYPOTHESIS WAS DEVELOPED AFTER I WAS UNABLE TO PROPERLY SECURE A DIONO RADIAN RXT CAR SEAT (FORWARD FACING MODE) IN MY 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE BUCKLES IN THE HONDA (SEE ATTACHED) APPEAR TO BE CLOSE TO THE 175MM THRESHOLD. HOWEVER, I WAS ABLE TO SECURE THE SAME DIONO SEAT IN MY 2007 AUDI A6 BECAUSE THE AUDI'S BUCKLES ARE FLUSH MOUNTED IN THE SEAT CUSHION (I.E. B2B OF ~0MM). I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS A "HONDA" PROBLEM, BUT A PROBLEM WITH THE LACK OF SPECIFICITY OF FMVSS-213 WRT HOW CHILD SEATS ARE TO BE TESTED. FMVSS 213 S6.1.2 SIMPLY STATES THAT THE "STANDARD SEAT ASSEMBLY" IS TO BE USED, AND MAKES NO MENTION OF ENSURING COMPATIBILITY OF FIT THROUGHOUT THE B2B RANGE. THE DIONO MANUAL (SEE PG-19, ATTACHED) INDICATES THAT THEIR SEATS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH "...ANCHOR POINTS FORWARD OF THE SEAT CREASE." I REVIEWED OTHER CHILD CAR SEAT MANUFACTURER INSTRUCTION MANUALS AND FOUND SIMILAR WARNINGS. WHILE THE HONDA SEAT BELTS CONTAIN FMVSS-209 CERTIFICATION TAGS, AND THE DIONO IS LABELED WITH FMVSS-213 TAGS, I BELIEVE THAT THESE TWO STANDARDS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE. RECOMMENDATIONS: (1)UPDATE "STANDARD SEAT ASSEMBLY" OF FMVSS-213 SUCH THAT B2B IS EXPLICITLY FIXED AT 175MM OR (2) FMVSS-209 MUST RESTRICT B2B< 25MM. FMVSS-209 S4.1.E ONLY SPECIFIES, "...BUCKLE OR BUCKLES READILY ACCESSIBLE TO THE OCCUPANT TO PERMIT HIS EASY & RAPID REMOVAL..."
WHILE TRAVELING NORTHBOUND ON MOUNTAIN VIEW CORRIDOR AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH THE SUNROOF IN MY 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY EXPLODED. I HAVE TRAVELED THIS ROAD MANY TIMES, IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL DAY WITH MILD TEMPERATURES AND LIGHT TRAFFIC. I BOUGHT THIS ODYSSEY NEW. IT CURRENTLY HAS JUST OVER 69,000 MILES ON IT. THERE WERE NO HOMES, BUSINESSES, PARKING LOTS, OR ANYTHING OF THE KIND AROUND ME. NO OVERPASSES, POWER LINES OR OTHERWISE. THERE IS NO EXPLANATION FOR THE EXPLOSION. I HEARD A LOUD POP THAT I THOUGHT WAS A GUNSHOT OR LARGE SOMETHING HITTING MY CAR. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD, TURNED ON MY HAZARDS, AND FELT SOMETHING HIT MY ARM. I LOOKED UP TO SEE THAT THE SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED. I'VE NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE. AFTER READING ONLINE THAT MANY OTHERS HAD HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCES I FELT LIKE I NEEDED TO REPORT IT IN HOPES THAT OTHERS MIGHT NOT HAVE TO HAVE THE SAME SCARY EXPERIENCE (WHICH COULD HAVE ENDED MUCH WORSE), INCONVENIENCE, AND EXPENSE.

THE SECOND ROW OUTBOARD SEATS COME UNSECURED FROM THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AFTER HONDA PERFORMED ITS MOST RECENT RECALL REPAIR. A FOUR YEAR OLD 38 LB. CHILD KICKED THE SECOND ROW PASSENGER SEAT BACK. THE SEAT CAME DISLODGED FROM THE FLOOR HOOKS/ANCHORS. SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND GOING 60MPH OR HIGHER, THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES A LOT WHEN I START TO BRAKE AND I HAVE TO PUMP MY BRAKES RATHER THAN A SLOW GRADUAL DEPRESSION OF THE PEDAL LIKE ONE WOULD NORMALLY DO OR ELSE THE VAN BECOMES UNSTABLE. THIS HAS BEEN THE CASE FOR OVER A YEAR.
MY COMPLAINT HAS TO DO WITH LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR AND TIRE PRESSURE (TPMS) MONITOR. THE EXPERIENCE WE HAVE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IS THAT IF THE FORMER LIGHT APPEARS AND YOU REPLACE THE AFFECTED TIRE WITH A SPARE TIRE, THE LATTER LIGHT (TPMS) WILL APPEAR IT WILL DISABLE THE PART. ONCE THE SPARE IS REPLACE WITH A NEW TIRE, THE FORMER LIGHT COMES BACK AND STAYS ON UNTIL THE PART IS REPLACED. IT HAS HAPPENED TO US TWICE. HONDA WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THE PART OR LABOR TO REPLACE IT.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROX. 55 MPH, I HEARD A CLICKING SOUND AND A HISSING WIND SOUND COMING FROM THE WINDSHIELD ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. IT FELT LIKE THE WINDSHIELD WAS BEING PULLED UP AND YOU COULD SEE THE EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD MOLDING FLAPPING IN THE WIND. ALSO, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR SIDE WINDOW WAS MOVING BACK AND FORTH HITTING THE WINDOW FRAME.
ECM IS RUNNING ROUGHLY
2 POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUES OCCURRING AT 55000 MILES OR LESS WITH NO RECALL FROM HONDA: TRANSMISSION JERKING AT LOW SPEEDS AND WARPED BRAKE ROTORS AT LOW MILEAGE: ISSUE 1: WHEN TRAVELING UP A HILL (SMALL TO MODERATE GRADE) THE VAN HAS A JERKING MOTION AND THE NEEDLE ON THE ODOMETER BOUNCES BACK AND FORTH ABOUT 200 RPMS WITH THE FOOT STEADY ON THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOR QUITE SOME TIME ON HILLS BUT NOW AT 55000 MILES THE VAN IS DOING IT ON A LEVEL SERVICE WHILE IN 2ND GEAR (OR WHEN TRANSITIONING TO 2ND FROM 1ST). AGAIN THE FOOT IS STEADY ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE VAN JERKS WITH THE NEEDLE BOUNCING ON THE ODOMETER A FEW HUNDRED RPMS BACK AND FORTH FOR A SHORT BIT UNTIL INTO 3RD GEAR. I READ OF A TSB 16-060 THAT THE CAUSE IS IMPROPER HEATING OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE SHORT-TERM FIX IS TO DRAIN AND FILL THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WHILE A FUTURE FIX IS A SOFTWARE UPDATE THAT IS NOT YET COMPLETED. ISSUE 2: WHEN BRAKING THERE IS VIOLENT VIBRATIONS IN THE STEERING WHEEL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, DON'T REMEMBER THE DATE BUT WHILE STILL UNDER THE 3 YEAR/36000 MILE WARRANTY, THEY TURNED THE ROTORS WHICH CAUSED THE VIBRATIONS TO GO AWAY. NOW AT 55000 MILES THE VAN IS AGAIN HAVING VIOLENT VIBRATIONS WHILE BRAKING. THE ROTORS SHOULD NOT WARP SO FAST, WITH LOW MILEAGE.
NHTSA RECALL NUMBER17V-725 HAS BEEN OPEN SINCE NOVEMBER, 17 2017 WITH NO RESOLUTION. THAT IS PRETTY UNACCEPTABLE AND NOW I RECEIVE ANOTHER LETTER FOR A 2ND RECALL NHTSA RECALL NUMBER18V-170 DATED MAR 13, 2018. IS THIS EVER GOING TO BE FIXED? MY CHILDREN RIDE BACK THERE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED SEVERELY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,858.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT OR FROM A SITUATION SUCH AS SLOWED TRAFFIC IN A STOP AND GO SETTING, VEHICLE REGULARLY LURCHES AND TRANSMISSION HESITATES BEFORE LOCKING INTO CORRECT GEAR AND SUDDENLY ACCELERATING FORWARD. IT SEEMS AS IF THE COMPUTER IS SEARCHING FOR CORRECT GEAR, BUT HESITATES WAY TOO LONG TO LOCK IN AS ENGINE SPEEDS HAVE ALREADY INCREASED. THIS HAPPENS MOST OFTEN AFTER ENGINE HAS WARMED FULLY.
MY AUTO DOORS OFTEN MALFUNCTION WHERE THER DON'T RESPOND TO UNLOCKING OR OPENING. I HAVE TO PHYSICALLY FORCE THE LOCK UP WHILE PULLING THE HANDLE TO OPEN IT WHEN IT HAS.I HAVE SEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND THERE IS NO RECALL BUT THERE ARE PLENTY OF COMPLAINTS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO BE IN IF MY VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A WRECK AND WE CAN'T GET THE DOORS OPEN. I HAVE VIDEO OF THIS.
WE CAME TO A STOP AT A LIGHT AND AS WE STARTED MOVING WHEN LIGHT WAS GREEN IN SLOW SPEED SOMETHING MADE A BIG CLUNK AND EACH TIME WE CAME TO A STOP AND PRESSED ON GAS PEDAL TO PROCEED THEN CLUNK AND JERK BECAME LOUDER AND MORE INTENSE. WE PULLED OVER TURNED VAN OFF STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT QUIT. WE HAVE IT IN THE HONDA DEALER NOW AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING. THEY DID ADD TRANSMISSION FLUID. KEEPING OVER NIGHT PER OUR CHOIC OUT OF TWO (OR PICK UP AND TAKE HOME), TO SEE IF IT DOES SAME THING IN THE MORNING. IT'S VERY SCARY WE DON'T REALLY TRUST IT ON TRIPS. SO DISAPPOINTED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THERE WAS NO TIMEFRAME FOR WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE SUPPLIED TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V170000 (SEATS) AND PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V725000 (SEATS).
RECALLS NUMBER 17V-725 AND 18V-170 APPEAR TO BE SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES FOR PASSENGERS IN THE 2ND ROW SEATS, AND THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A MANUFACTURER SOLUTION. FOR THE 17V-725 RECALL, IT HAS BEEN OUTSTANDING FOR OVER A YEAR WITHOUT A SOLUTION OFFERED BY THE MANUFACTURER. WHY IS THIS TAKING SO LONG AND WHY HASN'T NHSTA NOT TAKEN STRONGER ACTION TO COMPEL HONDA TO FIX THE PROBLEM? THIS IS WHY YOU EXIST, TO KEEP CONSUMERS SAFE BEFORE A SAFETY INCIDENT OCCURS. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS WITH HONDA TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 20-30MPH, MY VEHICLE CONVULSES DURING A GEAR SHIFT, EVERY TIME I SWITCH FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR. CURRENT VEHICLE SERVICE BULLETIN EXISTS. 17-044 AND 17-043 ISSUED ON 2-28-2018. NO WARRANTY OFFERED AFTER 60,000 MILES. I'M CURRENTLY AT 67, 700. NO ASSISTANCE BEING OFFERED BY HONDA OR AUTHORIZED DEALER. IF SERVICE BULLETIN DOES NOT GOOD THE ISSUE, HONDA RECOMMENDS TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT!! AS A CONSUMER, I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE AND FEEL HONDA IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS, NOT THE CONSUMER. TO ISSUE A TSV MEANS THEY KNOW THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE IN MULTIPLE VEHICLES.
COMING DOWN MCDONALDS PASS, THE VAN WAS GOING FASTER THAN I WANTED, 50 OR 60 MILES PER HOUR SO I TAPPED THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN ON CLEAR BLACKTOP, NO ICE. WHEN I DID,THE FRONT END WHEELS SHIMMIED EACH TIME I TAPPED THE BREAKS. IT SCARED ME, BECAUSE IF IT HAD BEEN ICY, I COULD NOT HAVE SLOWED DOWN AT AN APPROPRIATE SPEED TO GET TO A SAFER SPEED. I WAS ABLE TO EVENTUALLY SLOW DOWN, BUT THE FRONT END KEPT SHIMMYING EACH TIME I TAPPED THE BRAKES GOING DOWN THE STEEP HILL AND THERE WERE CURVES IN THE ROAD AS WELL.
METAL VALVE STEM CAP WERE INSTALLED ON TIRES WHEN I GOT MY CAR BRAND NEW. YESTERDAY I TRIED TO OPEN THE CAP FOR REFILL, THEY ARE UNABLE TO OPEN DUE TO CORRODED METAL. I BELIEVE THIS IS DUE TO MANUFACTURER DEFECT. I BELIEVE OPENING UP A TIRE VALVE CAP SHOULD BE EASY, BUT FOUND IT IMPOSSIBLE. I DID NOT WANT TO BREAK THE VALVE OR DAMAGE MYSELF. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.

THIS IS THE 2ND RECALL I'VE HAD ON MY CAR WITHIN A YEAR ALL HAVING TO DO WITH THE 2ND ROW SEATS NOT LATCHING PROPERLY. THE LADY ON THE PHONE JUST TOLD ME THAT IF I BRAKE TOO HARD THE SEAT COULD POSSIBLY COME UNLATCHED. I HAVE A CHILD AND YOU'RE TELLING ME THAT HONDA ISN'T DOING ANYTHING EXCEPT WAITING FOR PARTS TO COME IN AND NOT SELLING THEIR NEW VANS UNTIL THESE PARTS COME IN. I DON'T FEEL THAT IS ENOUGH. HOW CAN HONDA ALLOW PEOPLE WHO OWN THESE VEHICLES TO STILL BE DRIVING THEM UNTIL THEY HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM. IF I BRAKE HARD AND THE SEAT COMES UNLATCHED FROM THE FLOOR BOARD, WHICH IS WHAT THE LADY TOLD ME, THAT IS SUPER UNSAFE AND HONDA SHOULD BE DOING MORE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, EVEN WORSE IF SOMEONE IS TO RUN INTO YOU OR REAR-END YOU. THE CHILD OR ADULT, WHOMEVER, WILL PROBABLY DIE IF THE SEAT UNLATCHES FROM THE FLOORBOARD. AND BETTER YET, THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE THE PARTS IN TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
CAR JERKS VIOLENTLY DURING MILD ACCELERATION, WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND SPEEDS. THIS CAN OCCUR RIGHT AFTER STARTUP OR CAN START AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING AND THE CAR SLOWS DOWN TO FIRST GEAR. IT CONTINUES UNTIL THE IGNITION IS TURNED OFF. THE PROBLEM DISSAPPEARS WHEN IGNITION IS TURNED OFF. IT OCCURS VERY RANDOMLY, I.E., INTERVALS OF WEEKS OR EVEN MONTHS. IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO HAVE IT OCCUR AT THE DEALER SERVICE DEPT., AND IT DOES NOT GIVE A COMPUTER CODE. THE DEALER CHECKED THE TRANSMISSION AND COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE.

MAY 1, 2019 42364 MILES REPLACED 4 FOULED SPARK PLUGS.,3 CYLINDER PISTON RINGS.DEALER WAS GOING TO CHARGE ME BUT CHANGED THEIR MIND AND CHARGED M $84 FOR SHOP SUPPLIES, AND NO LOANER. WE RENTED A CAR. I THINK THIS CAR IS A LEMON. VCM ENGINE (STUPID TECHNOLOGY)
DESPITE KEEPING UP WITH THE REQUIRED MAINTANENCE, I HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT AT 100K MILES. SHIFTS VERY HARD WHEN I'M IN TRAFFIC- LURCHES. HUGE SPOT OF PAINT PEELING OFF THE BACK (SINCE INEASNT THE ORIGINAL OWNER HONDA WOULDN'T FIX IT) PAINT IS NOW STARTING TO CHIP HEAT THE CHROME ON. BOTH DOORS.
I WAS DRIVING (IN MOTION) ON SLIPPERY, WET, BUT ICY ROADS IN TOWN. I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 20 MPH. TWICE, I HAD TO STOP SLIGHTLY FASTER THAN I NORMALLY WOULD HAVE, BUT WHEN I STARTED TAPPING THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP, THEY FELT LIKE THEY LOCKED UP ON ME AND IT TOOK AWHILE BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO HAVE ANY "BRAKE" FEELING AT ALL! THE WHEEL WALLS, I NOTICED LATER HAVE SMALL SPACE BETWEEN TIRE AND WHEEL WALL, CAUSING SNOW BUILD-UP, WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED A PROBLEM IN THE BRAKING ABILITY ALSO. AFTER THIS HAPPENED A COUPLE MORE TIMES THROUGHOUT THE WEEK, MY BRAKE SENSOR LIGHT WARNING CAME ON AND HAS STAYED ON NOW. BUT, AFTER I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE CAR WASH AND GOT ALL THE ICE OUT OF THE WHEEL WELLS, THE BRAKES ARE WORKING FINE AND SMOOTH STOPPING, STILL ICY CONDITIONS ON THE ROAD. I THINK THE WHEEL WALLS DON'T HAVE ENOUGH ROOM BETWEEN THE TIRES AND WHEEL WALLS. IN ICY CONDITIONS, IT SEEMS TO BE PUTTING DANGEROUS PRESSURE ON MY BRAKE SYSTEM, WHEN IN MOTION APPLYING THE BRAKES. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT ON A ROAD WHEN ALL THE ABOVE OCCURRED.
THE REAR TAILGATE WILL NOT RELEASE IN COLD WEATHER (TYPICALLY AT FREEZING OR BELOW) RESTRICTING ALL ACCESS TO THE REAR OF THE VAN.

SINCE THAT TIME, NOW 4 MONTHS, SEVERAL DEALERSHIP CLAIM NO KNOWLEDGE OF WHEN THE RECALL REPAIRS WILL BE HONORED AND REFER CALLERS TO HONDA AMERICA. HONDA AMERICA REFERS ALL CALLS TO DEALERS AND STATES THIS IS "NOT REALLY A SAFETY ISSUE" BUT A MATTER OF OPERATOR ERROR. I WOULD SUBMIT THAT IF THE SEAT LATCH SYSTEM CAN BE INSTALLED/OPERATED IMPROPERLY THEN IT IS IN FACT A SAFETY RELATED DESIGN DEFECT WHICH A CORPORATION THE SIZE OF HONDA COULD HAVE REPAIRED BY NOW, IF THEY WERE NOT DENYING THE PROBLEM! CAN DOT ENFORCE AN EXISTING FEDERAL RECALL?

THE CONTACT HAD TO SWITCH THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (HARBOR HONDA IN MERRILVILLE, INDIANA) AND A FIELD INVESTIGATOR FROM HEADQUARTERS CAME TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. NO DEFECTS WERE FOUND.
