WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 30MPH AND PERFORMED A PANIC STOP AS A DELIVERY TRUCK IN FRONT STOPPED AND TURNED SUDDENLY. CONTINUED DOWN THE ROAD AFTER THE DELIVERY TRUCK TURNED IN DRIVEWAY. GOING DOWN THE NEXT HILL OF THE 30MPH ROAD, THE BRAKES FAILED AS THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE TO THE POSTED SPEED. DRIVER STOOD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED ONLY SLIGHTLY AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT SLOW. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND COAST THE VEHICLE TO A STOP ON A LONG RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY. JUST BEFORE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP A GRINDING NOISE WAS HEARD. GRINDING SOUND BECOME HIGHER PITCHED JUST BEFORE NOISE AND VEHICLE STOPPED. AFTER STOPPING, DRIVER TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES, THE DRIVER RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL AND BRAKING FUNCTION RETURNED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. CURRENT INFORMATION FROM DEALER IS THAT NO CAUSE HAS BEEN FOUND. ONLY EXPLANATION IS THAT BRAKES WERE OVERHEATED DUE TO THE PANIC STOP. DEALER STILL HAS VEHICLE AND SAYS THEY ARE STILL INVESTIGATING. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN THE BAR HARBOR, ME AREA, OUR ODYSSEY WAS BUCKING VIOLENTLY AT LOWER SPEEDS/GEARS. IT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND EACH TIME IT WAS WHEN WE WERE SPEEDING UP FROM A STOP AT A LIGHT/SIGNAL. IT HAPPENED IN LOWER GEARS (1ST AND 2ND) ALL ON THE SAME DATE. I CALLED A DEALER IN THE LOCAL AREA AND WAS GOING TO TAKE IT IN THE NEXT DAY BUT COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I BROUGHT UP THE ISSUE WITH OUR DEALER IN VIRGINIA AND THEY STATED THAT THEY HADN'T HEARD OF ANY SUCH ISSUES. WELL, AFTER FINDING THIS FORUM, I AM GLAD TO KNOW I DIDN'T IMAGINE ALL OF THIS! *TR
WE PURCHACED A BRAND NEW ELITE (2014) OUR FIRST ISSUE THE TRANSMISSION BUCKED AT LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS SO WE TOOK IT IN 2/2016. THEY STATED THAT IT REQUIRED A FRIMWARE UPDATE. NOW THE VAN VIBRATES BETWEEN AND 25-35 AND ALSO 60-65 MPH ALSO WHEN YOU ACCELERATE ITS NOW JERKY AND/OR UN-SMOOTH WITH SHIFTING. WE TOOK IN TO THE HONDA DEALERSHIP (8/16)TO FIX THIS NEW ISSUE NOW THE TECH REPORTS THAT THE FLUID IS BLACK. THE VAN ONLY HAS 38,000 MILES....HONDA SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE PASSENGER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS VERY HOT TO THE TOUCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHO STATED THE HEATER LINE IS NOT ISOLATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3600.
FRONT ROTORS WARPED AFTER 12000 MILES. COMPLAINTS TO HONDA DEALER. TOLD THIS IS NORMAL. NO REPLACEMENT OFFERED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A RECALL SHOULD BE INITIATED.
2014 ODYSSEY HAS BEEN CHANGED TO INCLUDE A PROGRESSIVE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR FROM THE NORMAL FLAT GLASS MIRROR. THE GLASS IN THE MIRROR IS DESIGNED IN SUCH A WAY THAT OBJECTS APPEAR BLURRED AND DISTORTED CAUSING DIFFICULTY FOCUSING WHILE LOOKING THRU MIRROR. TOOK CAR TO DEALER, THEY CONFIRMED ISSUE AND STATED MANY CUSTOMERS COMPLAIN ABOUT SAME THING. CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA AT DEALERS RECOMMENDATION. AMERICAN HONDA CONTACTED DEALER AND CONFINED. AT THIS TIME AMERICAN HONDA IS STATING IT IS A "DESIGN FEATURE" OF THE VEHICLE. NOT SURE HOW DISTORTION AND BLURRED VISION WITH A SAFETY DEVICE IS A "FEATURE". ASKED AMERICAN HONDA TO DOCUMENT THEIR POSITION, THEY REFUSED TO SEND ME ANY DOCUMENTATION STATING THE INFORMATION COLLECTED IS PROPRIETARY. DID SEARCH OF PROGRESSIVE MIRROR AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS. *TR
ON SATURDAY JULY 19TH MY SON ALMOST CHOKED TO DEATH ON THE MIDDLE ROW SEATBELT. I HAVE THREE YOUNG KIDS OF 7,6 AND 4. THE 7 AND 6 WERE PLAYING AND SUDDENLY THE SEATBELT WRAPPED AROUND MY SONS NECK. MY WIFE QUICKLY ATTEMPTED TO UNATTACHED AND UNTANGLE AND SHE COULD NOT. THE SEATBELT JUST GOT TIGHTER AND TIGHTER AND THERE WAS NO EMERGENCY RELEASE BUTTON EITHER FROM THE TOP OR BOTTOM OF THE SEATBELT. I QUICKLY HELD HIM UP IN THE AIR SIDEWAYS TO GIVE HIM A LITTLE AIR WHILE MY WIFE RUN TO A STRANGER'S HOUSE TO BORROW SCISSORS. THE ONLY WAY FOR US TO RELEASE HIM FREE WAS TO CUT THE SEATBELT. WE ARE FORTUNATE THAT NOTHING SERIOUS HAPPENED TO MY SON, ONLY BRUISES AROUND HIS NECK. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT HONDA CORPORATION SHOULD BE AWARE OFF AND TAKEN CAREFUL INVESTIGATION. I HAVE CONTACTED HONDA CORPORATE OFFICE AND THEY REALLY DON'T CARE MUCH. THEY TELL ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SEATBELT AND IT'S WORKING THE WAY IT IS. I ASKED FOR A SUPERVISOR AND HE TOLD ME THAT MY CASE WOULD BE CLOSED. THEY ARE RUDE AND NO SYMPATHY TO WHAT JUST HAPPENED. THE SECOND TIME I SPOKE TO A HONDA REPRESENTATIVE I TOLD THEM AGAIN THAT THEY SHOULD INVESTIGATE, AS I DON'T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE. THEY REFUSED AND ONLY STATE THAT THEY WILL PUT IT IN THE NOTES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN MAKING A LOUD CLUCKING NOISE. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY JERKS FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10.
FROM A STOP OR YIELD, UPON ACCELERATION VAN JERKED. IT DID THIS SEVERAL TIMES ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. TECHNICIANS COULD NOT GET THE VAN TO DUPLICATE THIS ACTION, SO THEY COULD DO NOTHING. *TR
SAME TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AS MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE CAR BUCKING WHEN SLOWLY ACCELERATING AFTER A STOP. ALSO ACCELERATING PROBLEMS WITH IT BEING JERKY AND/OR UN-SMOOTH. IT SOMETIMES JOLTS FORWARD AS WELL. WHEN VAN IS TAKEN OUT OF PART ON ANY INCLINE, THERE IS A LOUD "CLUNK" AS IT SHIFTS INTO REVERSE. PURCHASED THE VAN BRAND NEW IN JUNE 2014. VEHICLE NOW HAS LESS THAN 26,000 MILES ON IT.
AMERICAN HONDA MOTOR COMPANY - MANUFACTURERS DEFECT WITH THE VAN'S REAR SUSPENSION, RESULTING IN THE VAN'S ALIGNMENTS BEING UNCORRECTABLE SINCE THE DATE OF PURCHASE. AMERICAN HONDA HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ALIGNMENT AND SUSPENSION DEFECT ISSUE WITH THE 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY'S AND HAS CHOSEN TO HIDE THE DESIGN DEFECT FROM THE PUBLIC. HONDA DEALERS KNOW THERE IS AN ISSUE BUT THERE ARE NO AUTHORIZE AMERICAN HONDA OEM CERTIFIED FIXES TO THE PROBLEM. THE HONDA DEALERS DEFER, THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO UNTIL HONDA ISSUES A FIX TO THE SUSPENSION/ALIGNMENT ISSUE. THE RESULT, UNSAFE VEHICLE AND THE ADDED CONTINUAL EXPENSES THAT ARE A DIRECT RESULT OF AMERICAN HONDA'S CONCEALMENT OF THE ISSUES WITH THE VANS. QUICK SEARCHES ONLINE, DOCUMENT MANY OTHER HONDA ODYSSEY OWNERS WITH REPORTED IDENTICAL ISSUES, AS WELL AS OTHER HONDA OWNERS (KEEGAN V. AMERICAN HONDA ' CLASS ACTION CERTIFIED). AMERICAN HONDA'S OWN ACTIONS CONFIRM AND INDICATED THAT THEY RECOGNIZED AND ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUES I PRESENTED WITH THE VAN AND MY CLAIM. AMERICAN HONDA DIRECTED ME TO BRING THE VAN TO A HONDA DEALER FOR INSPECTION ' AUTOPARK HONDA. THE VAN WAS REVIEWED, DETERMINED DEFECTIVE, AND UNFIXABLE WITH ANY READILY AVAILABLE OEM HONDA PARTS AS VERIFIED BY A RECOGNIZED HONDA CERTIFIED ASE MASTER MECHANIC. IF THE VAN WAS MANUFACTURED TO AMERICAN HONDA'S OWN OEM SPECIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS, THEN ANY OEM HONDA PARTS WOULD READILY BE ABLE TO BE REPLACED WITH THE DEFECTIVE OEM REAR SUSPENSION PARTS AND CORRECT THE ALIGNMENT ISSUES AT ONCE. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. THE VEHICLE BY AMERICAN HONDA'S OWN ADMISSION IS NOT FIXABLE WITH ANY OEM HONDA PARTS. AMERICAN HONDA'S OWN FINDINGS CONFIRM, VALIDATE, VERIFY AND SUPPORT THE FACTS THAT THE VANS INHERENT MANUFACTURER'S DEFECTS EXISTS IN THE REAR SUSPENSION OF THE VAN AND VALIDATES MY INITIAL AND OPEN CLAIM SINCE 6-7-14 INV HOCS332080, AT 317 MILES.
WE WERE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC IN CA AND OUR 2014 ODYSSEY ENGINE BEGAN TO CLUNK AND WHOLE CAR JERKED (LIKE RUNNING OVER SOMETHING LIKE A SPEED BUMP) EACH TIME WE TRIED TO ACCELERATE THROUGH SECOND GEAR. FELT LIKE HITTING SOMETHING OR ENGINE FALLING OUT. THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION CONTINUED TO DO THIS EVERY TIME WE TRIED TO ACCELERATE BETWEEN 20-30 MILES PER HOUR. IT CONTINUED TO JOLT/JERK/AND CLUNK FOR 20 MILES AS WE DROVE ON THE FREEWAY. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND MADE MY HEART SKIP BEATS AS IT FELT LIKE THE ENGINE WAS GOING TO FALL OUT/LIKE BEING IN A CRASH. CONTACTED HONDA BUT THEIR SERVICE WAS ABOUT TO CLOSE. WE PULLED OVER TO DO OUR ERRAND AND WHEN WE RESTARTED THE CAR IT STOPPED. THE SHIFTING ON THE VEHICLE IS NOT SMOOTH THROUGH GEARS. TOOK NEXT DAY TO HONDA AND THEY WILL NOT FIX AS NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES CAME UP AND CANNOT GET THE CAR TO DUPLICATE ISSUE NOW. NOW THERE IS A TSB TO UPDATE SOFTWARE BUT DEALERSHIP WILL NOT DO UNLESS ISSUE IS DUPLICATED AGAIN. SAFETY ISSUE THAT YOUR BRAND NEW VEHICLE MAY HAVE ENGINE TRANSMISSION FAIL AT ANY POINT DURING TRAVEL. JOLTING IS SO SEVERE WHEN IT HAPPENS THAT IT COULD CAUSE YOU TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
BOUGHT VEHICLE IN MARCH 2014, ONLY A FEW MONTHS LATER I STARTED HAVING VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE BRAKING. IT CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AND HAPPENED EACH TIME I WOULD COME TO A STOP. DEALER CONFIRMED THAT ROTORS WERE WARPED. NOW IN A PREVIOUS COMPLAINT, I WROTE ABOUT MY TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I DON'T KNOW IF THE ROTORS WERE JUST DEFECTIVE OR IF THEY BECAME WARPED DUE TO BEING OVERHEATED WITH FRICTION AS A RESULT OF THE TRANSMISSION NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. MY NEW 2014 ODYSSEY HAD PROBLEM AFTER 3 DAYS WITH 05/12/2014 LDW / FCW / ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT HAD HAPPENED. FIRST TIME TOOK IT TO THE NEAREST DEALER, THEY REPROGRAMMED THE SYSTEM BUT IT DIDN'T HELP. 06/10/2014 SECOND TIME HAPPEN AND WAS TOLD THAT FCW / SOME KIND OF LED SYSTEM WAS NEVER CONNECTED AND SYN WITH THE CAR. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ISSUE WAS DUE TO THE MIRROR BEING DESIGNED IN A CONCAVE MANNER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ISSUE COULD BE REMEDIED BY REPLACING THE MIRROR WITH A REGULAR ONE. THE MIRROR WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING TO SPECIFICATIONS. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10.
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS STARTED VERY EARLY ON, I BOUGHT VEHICLE IN MARCH 2014. THE TRANSMISSION JERKS/BUCKS HORRIBLY ESPECIALLY IN LOWER GEARS, WHILE STOPPING/BREAKING, WHILE ACCELERATING, AND ALSO DURING TURNS. IT JOLTS FORWARD AT TIMES UNCONTROLLABLY. ALSO, IT DOESN'T SHIFT CORRECTLY INTO GEARS, WHICH CAUSES RPMS TO GET ABOVE 3000 JUST DURING REGULAR DRIVING. ALSO HAS PROBLEMS WITH DOWNSHIFTING PROPERLY. THE FRONT ROTORS AND BREAKS HAVE ALREADY HAD TO BE REPLACED AT ONLY 12,800 MILES. IMO, I BELIEVE THEY WARPED DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT DOWNSHIFT PROPERLY, (THIS CAUSED EXTRA STRAIN ON THEM WITH THE LACK OF ASSIST FROM THE TRANSMISSION). THE TRANSMISSION ALSO LAGS DURING ACCELERATION, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO PASS SOMEONE ON THE HIGHWAY, EVEN THE SLIGHTEST PRESSING OF THE BREAKS BEFORE CHANGING LANES CAUSES MAJOR LAG WITH TRYING TO REGAIN SPEED, THEN THE VEHICLE YOU ORIGINALLY TRIED TO PASS IS NOW FURTHER AHEAD OF YOU, SO OVERALL IT IS HORRIBLE WITH PASSING SPEED/ACCELERATION. BROUGHT INTO DEALER AND THEY CLAIM NOTHING IS WRONG. THEIR FAMOUS LINES ARE "NO CODE NO PROBLEM", "WE CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM", OR THEY SAY "ITS NORMAL". DURING A TEST DRIVE WITH THE SERVICE DIRECTOR AND THE MECHANIC, THE PROBLEM WAS IN FACT DUPLICATED. THE MECHANIC ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM, HOWEVER THE SERVICE DIRECTOR STILL INSISTED IT WAS DRIVING NORMAL. THANKFULLY, I AUDIO-RECORDED THE TEST DRIVE SO I DO HAVE PHYSICAL PROOF THAT THE MECHANIC ACKNOWLEDGE THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS HAVING PROBLEMS DURING THE TEST DRIVE. I NOW RECORD ALL MY CONVERSATIONS WITH THEM AND TAKE PICTURES/VIDEO'S OF THE VARIOUS PROBLEMS TO HAVE AS PROOF SINCE THEY ALWAYS GIVE ME EXCUSE AFTER EXCUSE AND LIE. MY INSURANCE COMPANY BOUGHT THIS HONDA ODYSSEY EX 2014 VAN FOR ME TO BE MODIFIED FOR HANDICAPPED EQUIPMENT AS A REPLACEMENT. IT CHOSE AND DELIVERED THE VAN TO: BETTER LIFE MOBILITY CENTERS OF RIVERSIDE 7239 INDIANA AVE., RIVERSIDE CA 92504 9516863152, WHO THEN DISABLED MY STEERING COLUMN ADJUSTMENT CONTROLS RESULTING IN DEFECTIVE TURN SIGNALS, HORN, LIGHTS ETC. NO NOTICE WAS GIVEN TO ME OF SUCH DISABLING OF THESE SAFETY EQUIPMENT AND THEY SIMPLY LEFT THE CONTROL FOR THE "TILT & TELESCOPIC STEERING COLUMN" IN A PLASTIC BAG ON THE CONSOLE. HONDA CARS OF CORONA (888) 568-0582 INFORMED ME THAT NO WARRANTY OR SERVICING OR DIAGNOSING OF THIS CAR WOULD BE MADE BY HONDA BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN MODIFIED FOR HANDICAPPED DRIVING WHICH VOIDED ALL WARRANTY OF ANY SHAPE OR FORM. IT APPEARS THAT "BETTER LIFE MOBILITY" HAS NOT COMPLIED WITH FEDERAL REGULATIONS IN THE DISABLING OF MY STEERING COLUMN, TURN SIGNALS, ETC. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS BUSINESS AND THEIR CONDUCT. THE TOTAL COST OF THIS VAN WAS $34,547.53 BEFORE MODIFICATIONS AND NOW IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR OF THE STEERING COLUMN , TURN SIGNALS AND RELATED SAFETY EQUIPMENT. I HAVE DRIVEN WITH HAND CONTROLS FOR OVER 24 YEARS, AND HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED ANYTHING LIKE THIS.. *TR
IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR, BEGAN NEW LEASE FOR 3RD HONDA ODYSSEY AFTER HAVING TWO PREVIOUS AND LOVING THEM. ON MAY 23RD, MY VAN HAD NO SOUND OF LEFT (DRIVER'S) SIDE UPON STARTING MY VEHICLE. VAN WAS LOOKED AT DEALERSHIP TO NO AVAIL, AS PROBLEMS DID NOT REOCCUR FOR THEM. ON VACATION, I WAS STRANDED WITH A BROKEN FUEL DOOR AND DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER DOOR THAT WAS TEMP FIXED BY DEALERSHIP THERE. ON WAY HOME FROM VACATION, CRUISE CONTROL INTERMITTENTLY DID NOT RESPOND CORRECTLY WHEN IN USE IN BOTH THE SET AND RESUME FUNCTIONS. UPON RETURNING HOME, DEALERSHIP FIXED FUEL AND PASSENGER DOORS, HAD VAN FOR A WEEK TO ADDRESS ISSUES THAT ARE MORE ELECTRICAL/COMPUTER-RELATED IN NATURE, BUT COULD NOT REPLICATE, NOR ISOLATE PROBLEMS. VAN RETURNED TO ME WITH BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY ISSUES. TURN SIGNALS AND CRUISE CONTROL CONTINUE TO MALFUNCTION, AND DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR OCCASIONALLY WILL NOT OPEN ALL THE WAY.
I PURCHASED THE 2014 ODYSSEY IN MARCH 2014. ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER, GOING DOWN RAMP TO FREE WAY (IT SEEMS THAT THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SLIP OR SOMETHING) AND IT HAD A HARD SHAKE. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE ON FREEWAY AT HIGH SPEED FOR A FEW MINUTES SEEM FINE. WHEN I EXITED TO CHECK OUT, THE SHAKE CAME BACK AT LOWER GEAR. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TURN BACK ON AND IT NEVER HAPPENED AGAIN. HOWEVER, JUST RECENTLY, JUST LAST WEEK, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. ALSO, I FEEL THAT THE CAR IS KEEP HUNTING FOR GEARS .. DRIVING HOME FROM DEALERSHIP SATURDAY EVENING THE BRAKES BEGAN TO SQUEAL IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. FRONT BRAKES STARTED TO SQUEAL EXCESSIVELY LOUD WHEN STOPPING, BUT THE NOISE ALSO CONTINUED WHEN FOOT WAS REMOVED FROM THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATING. WHEN FULLY STOPPED COULD SMELL BURNT BRAKE PAD. BOUGHT MY VAN IN MARCH OF 2014, EARLY ON IT STARTED HAVING VARIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE AC/HEAT BLOWER RANDOMLY INCREASES IN POWER (IF IT WAS ON LOW, IT WOULD ALL OF A SUDDEN START BLOWING FULL FORCE AND EVEN THE BARS ON THE SCREEN INCREASES).THE BLINKER RANDOMLY REFUSES TO TURN OFF EVEN AFTER MANUALLY TURNING IT OFF. THE COLLISION DETECTION SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS AT TIMES. IT RANDOMLY BEEPS WITH NO VEHICLE IN SIGHT AND AT OTHER TIMES, WHEN IT SHOULD BEEP, IT DOESN'T. THE NAVIGATION/RADIO SCREENS COMPLETELY BLACK OUT, ONLY SHOWING YELLOW LINES THAT YOU NORMALLY SEE WHEN BACKING UP. DURING THIS TIME, THE COLLISION DETECTION SYSTEM, BACKUP CAMERA, RADIO AND HEATING CONTROLS ALL DO NOT WORK.THE SCREENS STAY BLACKED OUT EVEN DURING DRIVING/BACKING UP, THEN ONCE THE VEHICLE IS OFF AND RESTARTED,THINGS GO BACK TO NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS RANDOMLY, AND VARY IN HOW LONG IT MALFUNCTIONS FOR. I WAS ABLE TO TAKE SOME PICTURES AND CAPTURED VIDEO TO SHOW IT MALFUNCTIONING. HONDA DEALER INITIALLY THOUGHT THAT IT WAS USER ERROR. THEY THOUGHT THAT I HAD ACCIDENTALLY TURNED ON THE LANE WATCH CAMERA, BUT ONCE I SHOWED THEM THE VIDEO, THE MECHANIC STATED TO ME THAT HONDA WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM FROM IT HAPPENING TO OTHER VEHICLES. THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO REPLACE THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM. HOWEVER, I QUESTION WHETHER THEY ACTUALLY REPLACED THE PART. ALL OF OUR ORIGINAL SETTINGS WERE STILL PROGRAMMED INCLUDING VOICE DIALING. FURTHER RESEARCH LED US TO FIND OUT THAT THE SYSTEM HAD THE VIN # STORED IN ITS INTERNAL MEMORY, WHICH PROVES THAT ITS THE ORIGINAL PART FROM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED. I ALSO FIND OUT THAT THEY WERE PREVIOUSLY SUED BY THE STATE OF NJ FOR CONSUMER FRAUD. OUR 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY EXL MINIVAN WAS CONVERTED WITH A BRAUN ABILITY HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE CONVERSION IN FEBRUARY OF 2014. WE HAD DRIVEN THE CONVERSION MINIVAN WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL APRIL 30, 2014. WE UTILIZE A POWER MOBILITY CHAIR IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VAN. WHEN THE SEAT BELT WAS RELEASED FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER IN THE POWER MOBILITY CHAIR, IT SOMEHOW BECAME ENTANGLED IN THE ARM OF THE POWER MOBILITY CHAIR. WE WERE UNAWARE THAT WHEN THE SHOULDER PART OF THE BELT IS PULLED ALL THE WAY OUT, IT CAUSES A SAFETY FEATURE TO ACTIVATE, AND THE BELT MUST FULLY RETRACT TO ALLOW THE PASSENGER TO MOVE ABOUT FREELY. APPARENTLY, THIS BELT WAS FULLY EXTENDED WHEN INITIALLY PLACED AROUND THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER IN THE MOBILITY CHAIR. WHEN THE BELT WAS RELEASED, WE COULD NOT MOVE THE PASSENGER FORWARD DUE TO THE SAFETY FEATURE, AND WE COULD NOT MOVE THE POWER CHAIR BACKWARD DUE TO THE BELT ENTANGLED IN THE ARM OF THE POWER MOBILITY CHAIR. WE NEEDED TO HAVE THE BELT COME FURTHER OUT IN ORDER TO DETANGLE IT, HOWEVER, THE SAFETY FEATURE WOULD NOT ALLOW THAT, AND THERE IS CURRENTLY NO OVER-RIDE EMERGENCY RELEASE BUTTON FOR THE SAFETY FEATURE ONCE IT IS ENGAGED. THE PASSENGER WAS TRAPPED IN THE POWER MOBILITY CHAIR IN THE MINIVAN. WE WERE ALONE, OVER 60 MILES FROM HOME, AND STRANDED IN A PARKING LOT. WE WERE UNABLE TO DRIVE ANYWHERE, AS WE COULD NOT MOVE THE POWER MOBILITY CHAIR FORWARD ENOUGH TO LOCK IT IN WITH THE Q-STRAINT SYSTEM. FORTUNATELY, MANAGEMENT OF THE LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP ALLOWED THEIR SERVICE PERSONNEL TO DRIVE TO OUR LOCATION AND ASSIST US. THEY TOOK APART THE SEAT BELT RETRACTION DEVICE AND DETANGLED THE BELT. WE REPORTED THIS TO HONDA SO THAT THEY MIGHT CONSIDER DESIGNING A SAFETY OVER-RIDE BUTTON. THEY PROVIDED US A CASE NUMBER. WE ALSO CALLED BRAUN ABILITY SO THAT THEY MIGHT WORK WITH HONDA.
WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS OVER 50 MILES AN HOUR AND BREAKING THE CAR SHUTTERES. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AND THE CAR WOULD FEEL OUT OF CONTROL WHEN BRAKING AT OVER 50 MILES AN HOUR. THE FIRST FEW TIMES IT HAPPENED WAS IN WET WEATHER AND I ATTRIBUTED IT TO THAT. BUT THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AND THE FIRST ROTORS WERE REPLACED AT ABOUT 3000 MILES. SUBSEQUENTLY THE ROTORS WERE CHANGED 2 MORE TIMES AFTER THAT. THE FOURTH TIME WE REPORTED IT TO HONDA NATIONAL. WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM AND THAT IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS TOO HOT IN FLORIDA AND I BREAK TOO HARD DESPITE THE FACT THAT I'VE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 30 YEARS AND NEVER CAME ACROSS THIS PROBLEM. THEY ALSO TOLD US THAT THEY COULD NOT REPLACE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT SELL OUR CURRENT VEHICLE BECAUSE IT WASN'T SAFE. SO BECAUSE OF CIRCUMSTANCES WE HAD TO PAY FEES LARGE FEES FOR ANOTHER CAR. HONDA REFUSES TO ADMIT THIS IS A PROBLEM . IF YOU RESEARCH ON THE WEB THERE WERE HUNDREDS EVEN THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS WITH PEOPLE GIVEN THE SAME ANSWER BY HONDA. ACCELERATION THROUGHOUT RANGE IS EXCEPTIONALLY SLUGGISH AND WILL NOT ENGAGE "PASSING GEAR" AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, MAKING THE VEHICLE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AT LOW AND HIGHER SPEEDS. THE RIGHT SIDE REAR LIFT AREA HAS HAD A METALLIC RATTLE SINCE THE CAR WAS SIX MONTHS OLD. IT'S BEEN TO HONDA FOUR TIMES FOR THIS COMPLAINT WITHOUT FINDING OR ELIMINATING THE RATTLE. HONDA REPLACED THE LIFT ARM ASSEMBLE DURING THE LAST VISIT. NOW THE DOOR BINDS AND WILL NOT CLOSE WITHOUT ASSISTANCE WITH MY HAND.

RETURNED 20 MINUTES LATER AND WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE LET ALONE TURN ON ACCESSORIES. DEALERSHIP CAME AND COULD NOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM, BUT WAS ABLE TO JUMP START THE VEHICLE. IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS AND INDICATED THAT THE FACTORY INSTALLED BATTERY WAS DEFECTIVE AND WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO HOLD A CHARGE. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO EXPLAIN THE SUDDEN FAILURE OF THE BATTERY OR WHY THE VEHICLE DID NOT INDICATE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE BATTERY. A NEW BATTERY WAS INSTALLED AND ATT 500 MILES LATER THE VEHICLE HAS NOT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

INITIALLY THEY DID NOT WANT TO FIX IT,, BUT AFTER BEING PERSISTENT WITH THEM ABOUT THIS ISSUE, THEY REPLACED THE RUBBER GASKET AROUND THE DOOR TO SEE IF THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. TO DATE IT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM, IT HAS ACTUALLY GOTTEN WORSE. I ALSO HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVERSIDE SLIDING DOOR MAKING A LOUD SCREECHING SOUND WHEN I UNLOCKED IT FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE MECHANIC TOOK THE DOOR APART AND GREASED IT AND SO FAR THIS HAS HELPED. I ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE DOORS NOT RESPONDING TO THE KEY FOB. SOMETIMES IT TAKES MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO GET IT TO RESPOND PROPERLY. THERE ALSO SEEMS TO BE ALOT OF WIND NOISE AND YOU CAN FEEL THE DRAFTS. THE DRIVER WINDOW ALSO VIBRATES WHILE GOING UP/DOWN. I DON'T KNOW IF MY VEHICLE IS A LEMON OR NOT, BUT IT SURE DOES HAVE A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION, ELECTRICAL, THE DOORS. ETC. I HAVE FILED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS THAT DESCRIBES THEM ALL. I'VE ALREADY ROLLED TWICE AFTER TURNING THE IGNITION OFF AND MY BOYS OPENING THE SIDE DOORS. 4. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE OR DRIVE, THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY ROLLED WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL NUMEROUS TIMES TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. IN THE 6 MONTHS THAT WE HAVE OWNED A NEW 2014 ODYSSEY, THERE IS A LARGE AREA OF STREAKING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDSHIELD EVERY TIME THE WIPERS GO INTO RESTING POSITION. THIS IS A STREAK ABOUT 5 INCHES WIDE, ACROSS THE FIELD OF VISION FOR THE DRIVER. THE WINDSHIELD IS CLEAR WHEN THE WIPERS GO TO THE RIGHT, BUT THE STREAK APPEARS EVERY TIME THE WIPERS GO DOWN. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE WIPERS THREE TIMES IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS, AND POLISHED THE GLASS WITH STEEL WOOL ON THE LAST VISIT. UPON PICKING UP THE CAR, THE WINDSHIELD STILL HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THE MANAGER STATED THAT HONDA IS "WORKING ON THIS ISSUE", AND THAT THERE IS NOTHING HE CAN DO FOR US AT THIS TIME. ORIGINALLY, HOWEVER, HE HAD STATED THAT PERHAPS THE WINDSHIELD WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF A DEFECT. WE BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE OF THE DECREASED VISIBILITY IN INCLEMENT WEATHER. *TR

EXPERIENCED EXTREME SHAKING WHILE BRAKING AT HIGH SPEEDS. BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID MY ROTORS ARE WARPED. I ASKED THEM WHY MY ROTORS WERE WARPED AT 6K MILES AND THEY DIDN'T REALLY SAY ANYTHING. THE PROBLEM CAME BACK ANOTHER TIME SIX MONTHS LATER AND AGAIN THEY TURNED THE ROTORS. IT JUST HAPPENED AGAIN AND THEY SAID MY ROTORS ARE TOO THIN TO TURN AND THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED AT 20K MILES. I COMPLAINED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND HE SAID THEY HAVE SEEN THREE OTHER CARS ALREADY OF THIS YEAR/MAKE WITH ROTOR NEEDING TO BE REPLACED AT LOW MILEAGE. THEY SAID THIS IS MORE NORMAL FOR A 60K MILE PLUS TYPE MAINTENANCE. HONDA HAS AGREED TO REPLACE THE ROTORS AND PADS FOR THE COST OF THE PARTS (FREE LABOR). HOWEVER I THOUGHT I SHOULD REPORT IT AS IT SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT AFFECTING MORE THAN JUST MY CAR.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT 5 TO 20 MPH DURING ACCELERATION, TRANSMISSION MAKES CLUNK NOISE AND JERKS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THERE IS NO RESPONSE FROM TRANSMISSION FOR FEW SECONDS AND SUDDENLY SHIFT GEARS WITH JERK AND PUSHES THE VEHICLE (FEELS SOMEONE IS HITTING FROM BACK). THIS ISSUE IS RANDOM DURING TRAFFIC LIGHTS, HEAVY TRAFFIC AND FREEWAY MERGE. HAVING KIDS ON THE VEHICLE AND DRIVING IS BIGGER SAFETY CONCERN AND THIS BEHAVIOR WILL LIKELY HIT OTHER VEHICLES AS ACCELERATION IS EXCEPTIONALLY SLUGGISH AND WILL NOT RESPOND. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS ABOVE 45 MPH AND DRIVES WITHOUT ANY ISSUES. VEHICLE BEEN TO DEALER SERVICE CENTER TWICE BUT THEY SAID WE ARE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE IT AND IT'S REALLY FRUSTRATING. I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES AND HAD THE TECHNICIAN EXPERIENCE WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT VERIFYING SOMETHING IS WRONG. THEN WHEN I GO TO PICK IT UP AFTER ITS BEEN FIXED, I AM TOLD BY THE MANAGER THAT IT IS NORMAL BECAUSE NO CODES CAME UP. *TR
I'VE NOTICED ON COLD NIGHTS/DAYS (TEMPS BELOW 40 DEGREES). THE ENGINE TEMP IS SLIGHTLY LOWER THAN NORMAL. THE VEHICLE AT A COMPLETE STOP (AT STOP LIGHTS) THEN GO THAT WHILE I ACCELERATE IT STALLS, THE GAS PEDAL WOULD GO DOWN BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE THEN AFTER A FEW SECONDS WOULD JERK INTO SPEED. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNED ON, THE COMPUTER(S) MALFUNCTIONS -- SCOPE OF FAILURE IS NOT KNOWN; SYMPTOM IS THAT CENTER DISPLAY SCREEN ON DASH (REFERRED TO AS "INTELLIGENT MULTI-INFORMATION DISPLAY", OR "I-MID", IN MANUALS) IS BLACKED OUT, EXCEPT THAT IT SHOWS YELLOW GRIDLINES AS IF REAR CAMERA WERE ON, HOWEVER REAR CAMERA IS DISABLED AND ALL OTHER FUNCTIONS THAT WOULD BE VISIBLE ON THE CENTER DISPLAY SCREEN (INCLUDING SAFETY FEATURES SUCH AS REARVIEW CAMERA, "LANEWATCH"/SIDE-VIEW CAMERA, AS WELL AS ALL VEHICLE SETTINGS, SYSTEM SETTINGS, CAMERA SETTINGS, AUDIO SETTINGS, ETC.) ARE INOPERATIVE. SCREEN REMAINS BLACKED OUT WITH AFFECTED SYSTEMS INOPERATIVE FOR THE DURATION THAT THE CAR REMAINS ON, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER CAR IS IN PARK, DRIVE, REVERSE, ETC., AND WHETHER CAR IS MOVING OR STOPPED. IF THE CAR IS TURNED OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN, SO FAR IT HAS RETURNED TO NORMAL -- HOWEVER IT WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE TO DO THIS WHILE DRIVING. AS I WAS TRYING TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT AND MY LEGS ONLY ON THE BRAKES, THE CAR STARTED ACCELERATING AND HAD TO PRESS THE BRAKES SO HARD WITH MY ENTIRE BODY WEIGHT ON IT TO MAKE IT STOP - HAD I LEFT A FRACTION LOOSE THE CAR WOULD HAVE JUST TAKEN OFF... SO SCARY AND NOT SAFE AT ALL... THE WEIRD THING IS THAT IT DIDN'T HAPPEN FOR THE NEXT 50+ MILES I DROVE... BUT THIS INCIDENT MAKES SURE THAT THIS VEHICLE IS TOTALLY UNSAFE FOR ANY ONE TO DRIVE. I'D LIKE TO LODGE THIS COMPLAINT ON THIS VEHICLE AND THAT THE VEHICLE TAKEN AWAY FOR R&D TO RESOLVE.. HONDA DEALER IS CLAIMING THAT THERE IS NO ISSUE AND THAT I MAY HAVE PRESSED THE GAS ALONG WITH THE BRAKES AND WAS TALKING ABOUT THE TOYOTA CAMRY ISSUE AIMLESSLY AND HAD ASKED ME TO HAVE A TEST DRIVE AND TRYING TO TALK ME OUT OF THIS... *TR
DRIVING APPROX 25MPH THROUGH TOWN WHEN ENGINE RPMS INCREASED A BIT AS IT BRIEFLY SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR, THEN IT CAUGHT ITSELF AND ABRUPTLY WENT INTO APPROX 5TH GEAR (6 SPEED TRANSMISSION). FROM THERE VEHICLE WAS ONLY USING 2 GEARS (~2ND AND 5TH) AND EVERY TIME IT UP SHIFTED INTO 5TH (FROM A STOPLIGHT, ETC.) IT WAS VERY ABRUPT, AND MADE A LOUD CLUNK NOISE - IT WAS SO HARD IT FELT LIKE THE POWERTRAIN WAS GOING TO BE RIPPED OFF THE ENGINE MOUNTS AND OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT (SERIOUSLY). IMMEDIATELY LIMPED VEHICLE TO CLOSEST DEALER. DEALER REPLICATED EVENT AND DETERMINED TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS OVERFILLED (APPROX HALF A QUART). THIS WAS AN ISSUE FROM THE FACTORY AND MANUFACTURING PROCESS. THE SELLING DEALER DID NOT COVER/DISCOVER THIS OVERFILL AS PART OF THE VEHICLE SELL CHECKLIST PROCESS (IF I WERE THEM, NOT SURE I WOULD HAVE NOTICED A HALF-QUART EITHER). APPARENTLY A HALF QUART MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE IN THE INTERNAL PRESSURE OF THE TRANSMISSION WHICH CAUSED THIS ISSUE. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY OR OTHERWISE IT COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE OR CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. IT WAS BAD ENOUGH LIMPING THROUGH TOWN. DEALER REMOVED EXCESS FLUID AND APPEARS TO BE OPERATING FINE (ALTHOUGH I NOW QUESTION THE LONGEVITY OF THE TRANSMISSION AFTER THIS INCIDENT). THIS WAS OBVIOUSLY AN ISSUE DURING ASSEMBLY AND I AM SURE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT MAY HAVE BEEN AFFECTED. I ONLY ASSUMING THAT A ROBOT WAS INADVERTENTLY OVERFILLING THE FLUID ON A BUNCH OF TRANSMISSIONS ALONG THE WAY. CAN PROVIDE VIN AS NECESSARY. *TR
WHILE SHIFTING FROM 1ST GEAR TO 2ND GEAR, THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCES A JERK/CLUNK THAT RESONATES THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE OCCURS BOTH WHILE ACCELERATING SLOWLY FROM A STOP, OR WHILE ACCELERATING SLOWLY WHILE THE VEHICLE IS ALREADY IN A SLOW COAST. THE WORST JERKS OCCUR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SLOWLY ACCELERATED WHILE TURNING THE VEHICLE. IN ALL CASES, THE PROBLEM OCCURS DURING GENTLE ACCELERATION (GAS CONSERVATION) VERSUS QUICK ACCELERATION. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND HAS YET TO BE REPLICATED BY MY NEIGHBORHOOD HONDA AUTO REPAIR/DEALERSHIP. NO FAULT CODES HAVE BEEN FOUND ON THE COMPUTER. I HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR SYMPTOMS IN REAR WHEEL DRIVE CARS THAT HAVE RESULTED IN THE REPLACEMENT OF THOSE TRANSMISSIONS. HOWEVER, I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE HONDA REPAIR REPRESENTATIVES THAT THIS ISSUE IS NORMAL FOR THE CAR. IT IS MY OPINION THAT NO NEW CAR SHOULD EXPERIENCE A JERKING MOTION WHILE DRIVING, ESPECIALLY AT SLOW SPEEDS. *JS
