HEADLIGHTS WORK VERY POORLY. - DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT, IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE THE ROAD WHEN USING THE LOW BEAMS. HIGH BEAMS HELP, BUT SWITCHING BACK AND FORTH WHEN IN TRAFFIC IS NOT A SAFE, OR LEGAL, OPTION. THE LOW BEAM PATTERN APPEARS TO BE SET TOO LOW, PARTICULARLY ON THE DRIVER SIDE, AND CAN NOT BE ADJUSTED. HEADLIGHTS ARE PROJECTOR LAMP STYLE, SO EVEN REPLACEMENT OF BULBS DO LITTLE TO CORRECT, AS THE PRIMARY ISSUE SEEMS TO BE A POOR DESIGN. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE PURCHASE OF NEW VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WITH NO RESULTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A SENSOR REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.
MY 2014 ODYSSEY HAVE THE TRANSMISSION CLUNK. WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO UNDER 20-30KM/H THEN LIFTING OFF THE BRAKE THEN APPLYING THE GAS THE TRANSMISSION CLUNKS/SHUDDERS LOUDLY AND YOU FEEL IT. I CAN REPRODUCE THIS 95% OF THE TIME. I WILL BE TAKING THIS INTO THE DEALER AND WILL UPDATE. BUT SEEING THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF THIS EXACT THING HONDA NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL.
BRAKES STARTED VIBRATING FAIRLY VIOLENTLY WHEN DESCENDING HILLS AT 10,000 MILES. INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND NEEDED TO BE RESURFACED. THIS IS THE 3RD HONDA VEHICLE THAT WE HAVE HAD AND HAVE GOTTEN OVER 100,000 MILES ON PILOT AND CRV WITHOUT THIS HAPPENING. THEREFORE IT IS NOT DUE TO DRIVING HABITS.
VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. WARPED ROTORS TIME AFTER TIME. REPLACEMENT LAST A FEW MONTHS. WAY TO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS! I TRULY FEEL THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW.
I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO PERFORM THREE-POINT TURN TO PARK IN GARAGE. SLOWLY (<5MPH) APPROACHING END OF FIRST ARC, I PRESSED THE BRAKES TO STOP. IT WAS SNOWING AND SLIPPERY, AND THERE WAS A SLIGHT SKID OF VEHICLE. I PRESSED HARDER ON BRAKES TO STOP, WHICH RESULTED IN REVVING OF THE ENGINE AND CRASH OF VEHICLE INTO WALL/GARAGE SUPPORT. I LOOKED DOWN TO CONFIRM MY FOOT WAS ONLY CONTACTING THE BRAKE PEDAL. I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK TO COMPREHEND WHAT HAD JUST OCCURRED. I PLACED THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE TO COMPLETE 2ND ARC OF THREE-POINT TURN, AND COMPLETED PARKING IN THE GARAGE.
EXPLODING SUN ROOF. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON EXPRESSWAY TRAVELING EAST. LOUD EXPLOSION HEARD OVER VEHICLE. AFTER PULLING OVER AN INSPECTION REVEALED THAT SUNROOF HAD SHATTERED, BUT DUE TO INTERIOR COVER CLOSED NO GLASS FELL INSIDE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO A REPAIR SHOP AFTER REPORTING INCIDENT TO INSURANCE COMPANY. REPAIR SHOP TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT HE HAD RECENTLY ENCOUNTERED SAME SITUATION ON A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN WITH A DAMAGED SUN ROOF WHICH APPEARED TO HAVE JUST POPPED OFF. HAVE CONTACTED HONDA DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE AND AM AWAITING A RESPONSE IF COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
WE BOUGHT THE VAN BRAND NEW FROM A HONDA DEALERSHIP IN CHARLOTTE NC. ABOUT TWO YEARS AFTER WE BOUGHT IT WE STARTED TO SEE THE PAINT PEEL IN THE BACK NEAR THE WINDOW. WE CONTACTED HONDA AND WAS TOLD IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. TODAY THERE ARE PROBABLY 4 LARGE AREAS WHERE THE PAINT IS COMING OFF.
I WENT TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF MY MOM'S MINIVAN USING THE DOOR BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE DOOR WHEN FUNTIONING NORMALLY IS SUPPOSED TO OPEN FULLY WHEN THE HANDLE IS PULLED UPON. INSTEAD THE WHEN DOOR WAS HALFWAY OPEN, IT STARTED TO CLOSE. THE DOOR THEN TO HIT AND CRUSH MY ARM. THANKFULLY I WAS NOT INJURED. THE CAR WAS PARKED ON OUR CONCRETE DRIVEWAY AND WAS TURNED OFF.
THE REARVIEW CAMERA OF MY HONDA ODYSSEY 2014 ETOURING MINIVAN BLACKS OUT INTERMITTENTLY WHEN I AM PARALLEL PARKING, WHICH INVOLVES SHIFTING GEARS QUICKLY IN AND OUT OF REVERSE AND DRIVE. ONCE THE SCREEN BLACKS OUT, IT SAYS BLACK UNLESS I RESTART THE ENGINE AND IT GETS STRESSFUL WHEN YOU ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF PARALLEL PARKING ON A BUSY STREET WITH CARS WAITING BEHIND YOU AND YOU CAN'T SEE THE REAR OF THE CAR. I PURCHASED A CAR WITH A REARVIEW CAMERA SPECIFICALLY ON PURPOSE DUE TO MY YOUNG CHILDREN IN ADDITIONAL TO LIVING ON A STREET WITH A K-1ST GRADE SCHOOL WHERE THERE IS A LOT OF TRAFFIC WITH YOUNG KIDS. THIS IS MY SECOND VEHICLE WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND BOTH CARS DEMONSTRATED THE REARVIEW CAMERA BLACKOUT ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE HONDA AND MY LOCAL DEALER INSTRUCTED BY HONDA NOW REFUSES TO TAKE IN MY CAR TO REGISTER OR RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHERE A LARGE MINIVAN FAILS TO PROVIDE A FULLY RELIABLE AND FUNCTIONING REARVIEW CAMERA WHICH IS LEGALLY REQUIRED TO DO SO BY 2018 ANYWAYS. HONDA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEFECT OR FULLY SOLVE THIS RECURRENT PROBLEM ON MANY DIFFERENT DATES.
PAINT ON FRONT ROOF NEAR THE SUNROOF IS PEELING OFF. WILL HONDA TAKE CARE OF THIS.
WE BOUGHT A 2014 HONDA ODESSEY IT'S STARTED JERKING WHEN IT WAS 7500 MILES WHILE DRIVING IN SURFACE STREET IN HENDERSON, NV WE IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE DEALER HAVE IT FIXED THEY SAID THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE THEN STARTED JERKING AGAIN FOR THE 2ND TIME WHEN IT WAS 2700 MILES THAT ALMOST CAUSE US INTO AN ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING TO LOS ANGELES. WE HAD IT TOWED ON 11/29/15 BY AAA FROM LA TO OC IN OUR HOTEL BECAUSE IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITH MY KIDS IN IT. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE JERKS COMES AND GO EVERYTIME WE TAKE IT TO THE DEALER THEY KEEP SAYING IT NEEDS AN SOFTWARE UPDATE THEY KEPT OUR CAR AT THE DEALER FOR 2 DAYS THIS TIME THEY SAID NOTHING WRONG WITH IT THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE AGAIN. WE LIVED IN LAS VEGAS NOW WE ARE AFRAID TO MAKE A LONG TRIPS BECAUSE WE FEEL LIKE THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE ENOUGH FOR MY FAMILY. THEY CAN'T JUST KEEP UPDATING SOFTWARE ON THEIR TRANSMISSION EVERYTIME THE VAN JERKS. PLUS WE NEVER KNOW WHEN THE JERKS IS GOING TO START AND STOP ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE FAR AWAY FROM HOME. THIS IS NOT RELIABLE AND UNSAFE. THE HONDA NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT FOR THE SAFETY OF THE CONSUMERS.
AT 29,000 MILES, MARCH OF 2015, ROTORS HAD TO BE RE-SURFACED. AT THAT TIME MECHANIC STATED THEY WHERE HAVING A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH ODYSSEY ROTORS AS THE ROTOR WAS TOO SMALL FOR THE WEIGHT OF THE ODYSSEY. MECHANIC AND SERIVE WRITER STATED THAT ALL IT TOOK TO WRAPP ROTORS WAS ONE SEMI-HARD STOP. DEALER RE-SURFACE ROTOR UNDER WARRANTY, BUT WOULD NOT REPLACE BRAKE PADS THAT HAD A GROOVE IN THEM FROM WRAPPED ROTOR. NOW AT 44,000 MILES, NOV.3, 2015, ROTORS ARE WRAPPED AGAIN AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. DEALER REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM HONDA SHOULD TAKE CARE OF BY REPLACING ROTORS WITH A HEAVY DUTY ROTOR AND NEW BRAKE PADS.
I LEASED MY 2014 ODYSSEY ON JUNE 2014. I'M COMPLAINING ABOUT ITS JERKING, THOSE LOUD CLUNK DURING SHIFT TO 1ST TO 2ND GEAR STARTED YESTERDAY EVENING WHEN I DROVE HOME WITH MY WIFE FROM AIRPORT IN STOP AND DRIVE TRAFFIC. THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION CONTINUED TO DO THIS EVERY TIME I TRIED TO ACCELERATE BETWEEN 10-20 MILES PER HOUR. IT CONTINUED TO JERK AND CLUNK FOR 10 MILES AS I DROVE ON THE FREEWAY. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND MADE OUR HEARTS BEAT AS IT FELT LIKE THE ENGINE WAS GOING TO FALL OUT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER NEXT DAY MORNING AND THEY TOLD ME NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AS NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES CAME UP. THEY CANNOT GET THE CAR TO DUPLICATE ISSUE NOW. I HAVE TO BRING THE CAR TO THEM AS SOON AS THE PROBLEM OCCUR. THEY ONLY DID SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR ME AT THAT TIME, HOPE IT WILL HELP. FOR ONE YEAR OLD 12000 MILEAGE CAR, I THINK THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. THE REASON I CHOSEN HONDA ODYSSEY WAS ITS SAFETY RATE. NOW I FELT UNSAFE IN THIS CAR, ESPECIALLY WITH MY TWO KIDS. I STARTED LOOKING ONLINE AND I SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE NOW! HOPING NHTSA HELP US PUSHING HONDA TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE TERRIBLE THINGS HAPPEN.
OUR SON WAS DRIVING THE CAR WHEN THE SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. HE WAS NOT IN A CAR ACCIDENT NOR DID HE HIT ANYTHING. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE TO THE OUTSIDE OF OUR 2014 HONDA MINIVAN. THANKFULLY, OUR SON KEPT CALM, PULLED THE CAR OVER AND CALLED US. NOW HONDA SAYS IT'S AN INSURANCE PROBLEM AND WILL NOT PAY TO FREELANCE THE AIRBAG AND OUR INSURANCE COMPANY SAYS IT'S A MECHANICAL PROBLEM AND HONDA SHOULD PAY.
WE GOT HIT BY A DODGE RAM TRUCK WITH A TRAILER ON THE LEFT SIDE (DRIVER SIDE) AT AN INTERSECTION ("T"). WE WERE CROSSING THE INTERSECTION NORTHBOUND WHEN THE TRUCK CROSSING THE SAME INTERSECTION NORTHEAST BOUND ( TURNING LEFT AT INTERSECTION) DIRECTLY HIT THE LEFT SIDE OF OUR VAN PUSHING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR IN AND CRUSHING THE DRIVER SIDE GLASS WINDOW. DESPITE THE IMPACT, SIDE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY.

THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK AND TURNED OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000.
THE STEERING WHEEL WAS SHAKING WHEN BRAKING. THE FRONT DISKS ARE WARPED. DEALER COVERED THE REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY (TURNED THE ROTORS). THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE HONDA.
WHILE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT GOING NO MORE THAN 10 MILES PER HOUR, I HIT A CONCRETE BLOCK WITH THE FRONT LEFT SIDE OF MY CAR IN FRONT OF THE WHEEL. IT WAS IN A BLIND SPOT. MY 9 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, WHO WEIGHS 62 POUNDS, WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT ( WHICH WAS NOT ALL THE WAY FOWARD. THE SEAT WAS ABOUT HALF WAY BACK). BOTH OF OUR AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND ONLY MY SEATBELT LOCKED. HER AIRBAG SHOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED AND HER SEATBELT SHOULD HAVE LOCKED.
AT 10K MILES, WE HAD VIBRATION AND SPORADIC HUMMING NOISE FROM BRAKES.I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HONDA LAST YEAR WITH ABOUT 12.5K MILES ON VEHICLE.THEY WERE UNABLE TO HEAR THE NOISE BUT THEY WANTED TO TURN THE ROTORS TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE AND SAID IT WENT OUT OF WARRANTY AT 12K MILES.WE WERE SHOCKED AS WE HAVE HAD NUMEROUS VEHICLES AND NEVER HAD TO SERVICE BRAKES THIS EARLY.AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE MANAGER THEY AGREED TO FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY AND SAID BECAUSE OF DRIVING HABITS SOMETIMES BRAKES JUST NEED TO BE REPLACED SOONER.THE NOISE CONTINUED, WE TOOK IT BACK AROUND 24K MILES.THEY COULDN'T HEAR THE NOISE BUT SHAVED REAR ROTORS TO SEE IF IT HELPED. NOW WE HAVE 35K MILES AND BACK AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR VIBRATION AND NOISE.THIS TIME I TOOK A CLIP OF THE NOISE SO THEY COULD HEAR IT. THE SOLUTION WAS NEW PADS AND TURN THE ROTORS ON ALL AXELS AND IT WOULD BE ABOUT $400 SINCE ITS NOT UNDER WARRANTY.THEY SAID BRAKES WERE IN MECHANICALLY GOOD CONDITION AND THE PADS STILL HAD ABOUT 40% SO I COULD JUST LIVE WITH NOISE AND VIBRATION IF I DIDNT WANT TO DO THE BRAKE JOB.I SAID I THOUGHT THIS WAS RIDICULOUS BASED ON ITS MILEAGE AND WAS AGAIN TOLD BASICALLY ITS DEPENDENT ON DRIVING HABITS (ALTHOUGH I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM ON ANY OTHER CAR IVE OWNED).I SAID I THINK ITS A HONDA BRAKE DESIGN ISSUE IN THAT ROTORS AND PADS ARE NOT ROBUST ENOUGH FOR THE SIZE OF THE VEHICLE AS THERE ARE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA AND ONLINE WITH THE SAME ISSUES.WE TALKED TO THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO AGREED THEY HAVE SEEN THIS AS A PROBLEM AND ADMITTED HE HAS A PILOT THAT NEEDS BRAKES ABOUT EVERY 40K MILES.THEY AGREED TO TURN THE BACK ROTORS TO SEE IF THAT FIXES THE NOISE AND OFFERED A DISCOUNT TO DO THE FRONT BRAKES.HE LET US KNOW WE COULD USE AFTER MARKET PADS THAT MAY BE BETTER BUT ARENT UNDER THE HONDA WARRANTY (WE DIDNT DO THIS AND USED SAME PADS WITH LESS THAN APPEALING 12K MILE WARRANTY).
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY IN HOUSTON, TX ON A HOT SUMMER DAY THE SUNROOF EXPLODED OUTWARD. IT MADE A LOUD CRACK FOLLOWED BY SEVERAL SMALLER CRACKS. THE GLASS SHATTERED INTO LITTLE PIECES. FORTUNATELY THE SUNSCREEN COVER WAS CLOSED OR WE WOULD HAVE SUFFERED FACES FULL OF SHATTERED GLASS, THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF ANY OTHER DAMAGE TO THE CAR SUCH AS A BRICK BEING THROWN AT IT.
ON SEVERAL PREVIOUS OCCASIONS AND ON THIS DATE IN PARTICULAR EXPERIENCED A SERIOUS JERK THAT APPEARED TO BE TRANSMISSION RELATED WHEN STARTING BACK FROM A LOW MILE PER HOUR SLOW DOWN. AFTER THE JERKING BETWEEN GEARS IT SEEMED TO OPERATE MORE SMOOTHLY THE NEXT TIME. THIS INTERMITTENT PROBLEM IS CONCERNING AS THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 15,000 MILE BUT THE WARRANTY IS ALMOST HALF OVER IN MONTHS. AM CONSIDERING PURSUIT OF A "LEMON" LAW CLAIM FOR THIS AND OTHER MORE MINOR ISSUES. WE TOLD THE DEALER OF THE INCIDENTS AND THEY SAID THAT THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS WE NEED TO GO TO A HONDA DEALER IMMEDIATELY AND NOT TURN OFF THE ENGINE TO SEE IF THE ERROR IS RECORDED IN THE ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. NOT A VERY CONVENIENT FIX.
BRAKE ROTORS WARPED WITH VERY FEW (20K OR LESS) MILES. DEALER STATED IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. EVERY REPORT I FOUND ONLINE STATED THAT RESURFACED ROTORS ENDED UP WARPING AGAIN IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. I HAVE FOUND THAT HONDA HAS RECENTLY CHANGED OUT THE ROTORS THEY USE TO TRY AND COMBAT THIS PROBLEM, THOUGH, NEVER FORMALLY ISSUING A RECALL OR NOTICE TO EVERYONE THAT HAS BEEN HIT BY THIS ISSUE.
THE CAR HAS BEEN SHAKING (STEERING WHEEL SPECIFICALLY) WHEN BRAKING. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT 5000 MILES BUT I DIDN'T REALIZE IT WAS AN ISSUE. UPON REVIEW IT WAS FOUND FRONT BRAKE PADS ARE 80% AND BACK ARE 50% BUT FRONT ROTORS ARE WARPED. DEALER IS NOT COVERING AS 'UNDER WARRANTY' SAYING THAT WARPED ROTORS ARE DRIVER WEAR. EVERYTHING I'M READING ONLINE SAYS THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF 2011-2014 ODYSSEYS AND THAT THERE ARE MIXED RESULTS ON DEALERS COVERING UNDER WARRANTY. I DO NOT DRIVE AGGRESSIVELY AND DO NOT DRIVE MOUNTAINS/HILLS. I'VE HAD 5 HONDA'S INCLUDING ONE OTHER ODYSSEY WE DROVE FOR 9 YEARS AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. I'M ALSO READING IT HAS BEEN SHOWN TO HAPPEN REPEATEDLY AT LOW MILEAGE RATES. I WILL ADD ANOTHER CLAIM IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN.

DEALER COVERED THE REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY (THEY TURNED THE ROTORS). ...UPDATED 11/02/15 *BF UPDATED 1/8/16 *JS THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER TURNED THE ROTORS. ALSO, THE DISCS WERE WARPED. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE CALIPERS WERE NOT LARGE ENOUGH TO SUPPORT THE VEHICLE, WHICH IN TURN CAUSED THE BRAKES TO HEAT UP DURING BRAKING AND WARP OVERTIME. UPDATED 04/07/16. *JB
I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HONDA DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE BECAUSE OF A VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING. TECH FOUND ROTORS ARE WARPED. THIS IS THE SECOND SET OF ROTORS. THE FIRST SET WARPED AT 13,000 MILES AND WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE SECOND SET HAVE WARPED AT 11,000 MILES. RECEIVED VOICE MAIL MESSAGE FROM AH ON 6/1/15 THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT THE DEALER FOR INFORMATION. RECEIVED CALL FROM AH REP CHRISTOPHER (EXT. 117726), ON 6/9/15 STATING AH WOULD NOT REPLACE ROTORS BUT WOULD TURN AS COURTESY. I ASKED WHY NOT FULL REPLACEMENT AS 1ST SET OF BRAKES DEGRADED AT 13K MILES AND 2ND SET AT EVEN LOWER MILEAGE, 11K. REP SAYS MANY REASONS COULD HAVE CAUSED WEAR, WEATHER CONDITIONS, DRIVING STYLE, WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE. I SAID THAT IF IT WAS WEIGHT OF VEHICLE THEN AH HAS FAULTY BRAKE DESIGN. THEN HE SAID THAT ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT IT WAS MY DRIVING STYLE. I SAID THAT BACKPEDDLING AND THAT THEY DON'T KNOW HOW I DRIVE. I THEN ASKED HIM FOR THE ESTIMATED LIFESPAN, IN MILES, OF THE BRAKES AND HE SAID THEY DON'T HAVE A LIFESPAN. I SAID THAT THERE HAS TO BE ONE, IS IT 15K OR 40K? HE REPEATED THAT THERE WAS NONE AVAILABLE. I ASKED HIM TO PUT THEIR (AH) CONCLUSION IN WRITING, USING THE ASSIGNED CASE NUMBER, N01-2015-05-29-01387. HE SAID AH WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANYTHING IN WRITING, BUT THAT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD WRITE UP A SERVICE ORDER. I REPEATED MY REQUEST FOR A WRITTEN REPONSE TO MY COMPLAINT AND HE INSISTED THAT AH DOES NOT DO THAT. NOTE: VEHICLE HAD STRUT ASSEMBLY REPLACED, UNDER WARRANTY, AT 6K MILES. UNDER WARRANTY, DEALERSHIP TO HAVE FAULTY DOOR LOCK ACCUATORS (LOCKS ACTIVATE AFTER EVERY STOP), WINDOW RUN CHANNELS/SEALS, AND BACK UP CAMERA CIRCUITS REPLACED. PARTS ORDERED 5/29/15.
THE VEHICLE HAD A FULL FRONTAL IMPACT , THE IMPACT WAS ALL THE WAY TO THE ENGINE BUT NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED , MY FRONT PASSENGER HEAD WAS HIT AGAINST THE MIRROR/VISOR I AM REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE . I WAS IN TRAFFIC AND DRIVING A STEADY 50 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUTDOWN. AFTER I REALIZED WHAT THE SITUATION WAS I PLACED THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL, STEERED THE CAR OFF THE ROAD AS SOON AS IT WAS SAFE TO DO AND STOPPED. I JUST HAD THE ENGINE OIL AND FILTER REPLACED WHEN THIS EVENT HAPPENED 3.7 MILES FROM THE REPAIR SHOP. I SUSPECTED A PROBLEM WITH THE OIL CHANGE. AFTER STOPPING I CHECKED FOR OIL UNDER ENGINE (NONE) AND THEN CHECKED THE DIPSTICK (FULL). I HAD THE VAN TOWED TO THE SHOP WHERE THEIR PERSONNEL CHECKED UNDER THE ENGINE FOR AN OIL LEAK AND THEN CHECKED THE DIPSTICK AS I HAD DONE. THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE THE VAN TO HONDA. IT?S BEEN A WEEK AND HONDA SAID I NEED NEW HEADS FOR THE ENGINE BECAUSE THE TIMING ?JUMPED?. THE OIL CHANGE HAD NO EFFECT ON THIS FAILURE. SO FAR, NOBODY AT HONDA CAN TELL ME WHAT ACTUALLY CAUSED THE TIMING TO ?JUMP?. THE TOTAL REPAIR IS BEING DONE BY HONDA AND IS COVERED BY THE HONDA'S NEW CAR WARRANTY. I'VE NEVER HAD ANY KIND OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS VAN PRIOR TO THIS UNEXPECTED AND SUDDEN FAILURE. *TR

THE HONDA ODYSSEY HAS TERRIBLE BRAKE SHIMMYING, ESPECIALLY UNDER A LITTLE MORE LOAD/HIGHER SPEEDS OR DOWN HILLS. THERE ARE A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS EXACT PROBLEM AND THAT THE UNDER-SIZED ROTORS WARP EXTREMELY EASILY. THIS IS THE SECOND INCIDENT I HAVE HAD WHERE THE ENGINE BEGAN RACING AS I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKE. AS I WAS SLOWING TO PARK THE CAR AT WORK WHEN I FELT THE CAR SURGE AS I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKE. I PUSHED HARD ON THE BRAKE AND FOUND THE CAR RACING AT 2000 RPM. I WAS ABLE TO FUMBLE FOR MY CELL PHONE AND GET A SHORT VIDEO OF THE RACING ENGINE. AS I WAS FILMING I MOVED MY FOOT SLIGHTLY ON THE BRAKE AND CAR CAME OUT OF THE RACING CONDITION AND SETTLED TO A NORMAL IDLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND AGAIN THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES. THEY IMPLIED THAT THEY WANTED THEIR REGIONAL PERSON TO EVALUATE THE CAR BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED SINCE TAKING THE VEHICLE IN. *TR

WE HAVE HAD ONGOING ISSUES, BEGINNING AT ABOUT 30,000 MILES WITH A NOTICEABLE JUDDER IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS APPROXIMATELY 117,000 MILES AND CONTINUES TO DEVELOP THIS PROBLEM ON AVERAGE ABOUT 10,000 MILES AFTER TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE. THIS COINCIDES WITH NHTSA REFERENCE #10084801. AS OF YET, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANY RESOLUTION TO THE TSB, AND I AM GROWING FRUSTRATED BY THE SUGGESTED "SOLUTION" OF TRIPLE CHANGING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID EVERY TIME THE SYMPTOMS SURFACE EVERY 10-15,000 MILES.

I THOUGHT FOR SURE THERE WOULD BE A RECALL BY NOW BUT I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE REPORTED IT EARLIER. AT THIS POINT THE ENGINE WAS RACING AT FULL SPEED ERRATICALLY. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. I TOOK THE CAR IN THE NEXT DAY TO THE DEALER. WHILE I WAS THERE ANOTHER CUSTOMER OVERHEARD ME TALKING TO THE DEALER AND HE STATED HIS MOTHER'S 2013 HONDA ODYSSEY HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE WHERE THE ENGINE STARTED RACING WHILE STOPPING. THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES WITH THE CAR AND PERFORMED ALL DTCS CHECKS. I TOLD THE DEALER THAT ON TWO OR THREE PREVIOUS OCCASIONS I FELT THE CAR SURGE WHILE BRAKING BUT IN THESE INSTANCES THE ENGINE DID NOT STAY RACING. THIS INCIDENT WAS VERY UPSETTING AS THE CAR COULD HAVE TAKEN OFF ON ITS OWN IF I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK. THOUGHT I HIT A BUMP BUT WHEN I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND STOPPED AT A LIGHT THE CAR STARTING BUCKING BETWEEN 0-30 MILES PER HOUR. AFTER RETURNING FROM AN ERRAND, MY FAMILY AND I WERE PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY. MY FOUR-YEAR-OLD SON WAS SITTING IN THE THIRD ROW PASSENGER SIDE AND BUCKLED USING THE CAR'S SEATBELT. HE WAS SITTING IN HIS TODDLER CARSEAT, PER GUIDELINES. IN TRYING TO UNBUCKLE HIMSELF, HE BECAME INEXTRICABLY ENTANGLED IN THE SEATBELT. THE MORE HE OR I TRIED TO FREE HIM; THE TIGHTER THE SEATBELT BECAME AROUND HIS TORSO, EVEN MAKING INDENTATIONS AND ABRASIVE RED MARKS ON HIS SKIN. SINCE I COULD FIND NO WAY TO RELEASE THE TENSION IN THE SEATBELT AND SINCE IT ONLY BECAME TIGHTER BECAUSE OF MY EFFORTS TO FREE HIM, I DECIDED TO SEVER THE SEATBELT, EFFECTIVELY RESOLVING THE TENSION AND ALLOWING HIM TO GET OUT OF THE SEAT. THE INCIDENT LASTED APPROXIMATELY 40 MINUTES FROM THE REALIZATION THAT HE WAS ENTANGLED TO THE DECISION TO CUT HIM OUT OF THE SEATBELT. I COULD NOT LIFT HIM OUT OF THE SEATBELT BECAUSE IT WAS TOO TIGHT, AND HE COULDN'T WIGGLE HIS WAY DOWN THE SEAT TO FREE HIMSELF WITHOUT THE BELT WRAPPING AROUND HIS NECK. GIVEN THE SITUATION, SEVERING THE SEATBELT WAS THE BEST AND SAFEST CHOICE TO FREE HIM. THERE NEEDS TO BE A WAY TO RELEASE THE TENSION OF THE SEAT BELTS IN THE THIRD ROW OF HONDA ODYSSEY MODELS, PARTICULARLY BECAUSE THEY ARE FAMILY VEHICLES RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SAFETY OF CHILDREN. I HAVE REGISTERED THIS CONCERN WITH HONDA, AND IT HAS BEEN A CASE NUMBER. *TR

THIS CAN BE AVOIDED BY VERY SLOWLY PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ON ACCELERATION (VERY SLOW ACCELERATION). I TOLD THE DEALER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL OPERATION. I DO NOT FEEL THIS TYPE OF OPERATION IS NORMAL. FURTHER, I SEE MANY OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE. MILEAGE IS ABOUT 18,000, BUT THE PROBLEM HAS EXISTED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW (PURCHASED 10/30/14).

WHILE MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE RETURNING FROM A SHORT SHOPPING TRIP, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO MAKE A "CLUNK" NOISE WHEN SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. IMMEDIATELY UPON HER RETURN HOME, I DROVE THE VAN AROUND THE BLOCK, STOPPING AT EACH INTERSECTION. THE "CLUNK" REPEATED EVERY TIME THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED FROM 1ST TO 2ND. I CALLED THE DEALER AND DESCRIBED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHAT WAS HAPPENING, AND HE SAID THAT WE NEEDED TO BRING IT IN, ALTHOUGH THAT WAS OBVIOUS TO US. THE QUESTION WAS WHETHER OR NOT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. HE SAID THAT HE THOUGHT THAT IT WAS SINCE IT DIDN'T MAKE ANY NOISE IN THE HIGHER GEARS. THE NEXT MORNING, I DROVE IT TO THE DEALER, AND OF COURSE, NOTHING HAPPENED. THEY HAD TWO TECHNICIANS DRIVE IT, AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE CONDITION. THEY ALSO HOOKED IT UP TO THE DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE, AND THEY SAID THAT IT SHOWED NOTHING. WELL, ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT IT WAS NOT "NOTHING", BUT THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING FURTHER AND TO JUST BRING IT IN IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I EXPLAINED THAT WE WERE ABOUT TO GO ON A 3,000 MILE TRIP, AND IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO BRING IT IN WHILE ON THE ROAD. EVEN THOUGH THE VAN IS ONLY 1 YEAR OLD, AND HAS ONLY 6,700 MILES ON IT, I THINK MY WIFE IS READY TO TRADE IT IN. *TR

TODAY I WENT TO THE HONDA SERVICE AND INFORMED THEM ABOUT THE ISSUES. THE HONDA DEALER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WAS SURPRISED, AND TOLD ME THERE IS NO SUCH ISSUE THAT THEY KNOW ABOUT. AFTER INSISTING, HE MADE AN APPOINTMENT THIS COMING THURSDAY MORNING SO THAT HIS MECHANIC TO RIDE WITH ME SO THAT I CAN SHOW HIM. I HOPE THE PROBLEM CAN BE DUPLICATED WHEN WE DO THE TEST RIDE WITH THEM. AND THEN I AM AFRAID IF THE PROBLEM DOES NOT HAPPEN DURING THIS TEST RIDE OR IF IT DOES THEY ARE NOT BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE CAUSE OR WORST IS THEY MAY NOT ADMIT THERE IS ANY TRANSMISSION JERKING AND TELL ME ..... WE BOUGHT ODYSSEY COUPLE OF MONTHS BACK IN AUSTIN . CURRENTLY WE ARE EXPERIENCING 3 MAJOR ISSUES. 1. EXCESSIVE WIND NOISE EVEN WITH LOWER SPEED 30 OR HIGHER SPEED 60.. IMPACT: HEADACHE INSIDE THE CAR. UNABLE TO ENJOY WITH FAMILY INSIDE THE CAR. 2.BRAKES ARE WEAK I FEELS LIKE WE NEED TO STAND ON THE BRAKES TO APPLY THEM 3. FROM A STOP SIGN IF WE HIT THE GAS FEELS LIKE A JERKY.. *TR
WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 10 AND 30 MPH, THE CAR HESITATED TO ACCELERATE. WHEN PUSHING ACCELERATION HARDER, THE CAR STARTED TO JERK. WHEN THE CAR WENT ON THE SLOPE, IT MADE A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. STOPPED THE CAR FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND RESTARTED AGAIN, THE PROBLEM WAS GONE. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND NO REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. *TR
BOUGHT VAN AND ONLY HAD IT A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THE KEYLESS START, WOULD NOT START. ATTEMPTED FOR A WHOLE MINUTE, THEN FINALLY THE KEYLESS START WORKED. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT, BASICALLY THEY TOLD ME PERHAPS IT WAS USER ERROR, BUT I AM NOT AN IDIOT, I MADE SURE THE BRAKE WAS PRESSED, THE GEAR WAS IN PARK CORRECTLY, AND THE KEY WAS OUT AND CLOSE ENOUGH FOR THE CAR TO RECOGNIZE THE KEY WAS IN THE CAR, HOWEVER, THE CAR DOORS UNLOCKED FINE WITH THE KEY. THEN A FEW WEEKS LATER, WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS A "NO KEY" LIGHT ON, HOWEVER THE KEY WAS IN THE CAR, AND THEN A FEW WEEKS AFTER THAT THE DASH BOARD AND RADIO SCREENS WERE BLACK FOR APPROX. 2 HRS, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP REPAIR SHOP AGAIN ONLY TO BE TOLD THERE WASN'T ANYTHING THEY COULD FIND WRONG WITH MY VAN... UNFORTUNATELY I BOUGHT THE VAN USED WITH ONLY 3000MILES, AND I THINK NOW I KNOW WHY THE ORIGINAL OWNER TRADED IT IN WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE.... IT IS A LEMON! *TR
2014 HONDA ODYSSEY TOURING ELITE BEGAN VIOLENT JERKING WHEN ACCELERATING ON 84 DEGREE DAY AFTER AN HOUR OF STOP AND GO CITY DRIVING. OCCURRED NEARLY 20 TIMES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM STOP LIGHT TO MODERATE SPEEDS OF 25/35MPH. FELT AS IF HIT FROM BEHIND EACH TRANSITIONING/ACCELERATING 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. VERY SCARY. HAD MY TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN VAN WHO WERE EQUALLY ALARMED OVER VIOLENT JERKING. NOT A SINGLE SERVICE LIGHT WENT ON DURING THESE EPISODES. HAD VAN TOWED TO HONDA DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE FAILED TO DUPLICATE THIS ISSUE. DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH MY CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE.
