HAD MY VEHICLE DROVE ON FREEWAY FOR AN HOUR AND WHEN PULLING ON TO A SHOPPING CENTER, THERE WAS A STOP AND GO. AT THAT POINT THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION STARTING JERKING AND SHAKING. THERE WAS SOUND FROM ENGINE/TRANMISSION LIKE SOME METAL CRUSHING OR BREAKING. STOPPED THE VEHICLE FOR A WHILE AND THE ISSUE DIDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. DEALER NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THIS ISSUE AND SO NO FIX.
DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE BY PUSHING THE "OPEN/CLOSE" BUTTONS. TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES. UPON ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE DOOR MANUALLY, THE ENTIRE DOOR FELL OFF THE VAN. HONDA'S RESPONSE TO THE ISSUE IS THAT THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY ISSUE AND THEY REFUSE TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FAULTY DOOR AND RELATED REPAIR COSTS.
SHUTTERING ISSUES STARTED AROUND 2016, THE CAR WAS NEW, BOUGHT 2015, BEGINNING SHOWED MINOR VIBRATION WHILE DRIVING. 2017 JANUARY, THE CAR STARTED TO SHUTTERING AT CONSTANT SPEED, ON AND OFF. PROBLEM SOLVED WHEN CAR RESTARTED. BUT KEEP COMING BACK AGAIN. MAY 2017, THE DEALERSHIP SAID ITS THERE SOFTWARE ISSUE, FLUSHING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. 2018, THE SHUTTERING ISSUE GOT WORSE, THE CAR STARTS SHUTTER OVER SPEED 20/MPH, WHILE HOLDING THE SPEED, ACCELERATING. EVERY DAY I DRIVE THE CAR. PLEASE HELP!!!
THE VAN HAS POWER SLIDING DOORS. EVER SINCE IT WAS NEW, WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE DOORS NOT CLOSING. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD SEVERAL TIMES BY THE DEALER THAT IT IS BECAUSE WE LIVE ON GRAVEL. I FINALLY TOOK THE VAN APART MYSELF AND FOUND THAT THE RUBBER COATING HAD COME OFF THE CABLE THAT CLOSES THE DOOR AND BUNCHED UP AND WOULD LET IT SLIDE FREELY. I BOUGHT A NEW AND WITHIN A MONTH IT WAS DOING THE SAME THING. THE COATING WAS COMING OFF. WE JUST TOOK IT BACK TO HONDA AND WERE TOLD AGAIN IT WAS DUST BUT THE COATING IS COMING OFF THE OTHER SIDE AND JAMMING IT UP TOO. MY WIFE HIT A DEER RECENTLY AND THIS IS WHERE THE PROBLEM IS. THE POWER DOOR WOULDN'T SLIDE AND WHEN YOU PUT IT ON MANUAL MODE WHICH SHUTS THE DOORS OFF, IT WON'T SLIDE EITHER AND MY WIFE HAD TO CLIMB OVER THE FRONT SEAT AND GET MY SON OUT OF HIS SEAT. IF THIS WAS AN EMERGENCY SITUATION I DON'T KNOW WHAT WOULD HAPPEN. WORST PART, MY WIFE SAYS THAT IT HAS NEVER WORKED AND SHE ASKED HONDA ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE WE LIVE ON GRAVEL. NOW THAT OUR WARRANTY IS UP, THEY WANT TO SELL US A BUNCH OF NEW PARTS. I JUST ASK THAT SOMEONE LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY FACTOR. I CONSIDER MYSELF TO BE PRETTY STRONG AND I CAN'T SIT ON THE INSIDE THE VAN AND FORCE IT OPEN SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT MY KIDS WOULD DO IF SOMETHING HAPPENED TO MY WIFE IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT.
AS I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY APREACHING A STOP SIGN, I PLACED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, WAS TOTALLY OFF THE GAS PEDAL, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. THIS WAS SCARY, LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE I FROM THE OF ME AND I HADN'T YET HIT THE STOP SIGN MARK, I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE MANY TIMES, SWIFTLY,IT FINALLY CAME BACK UP BEFORE REACHING THE STOP SIGN. TWO DAYS BEFORE THIS I DROVE OFF FROM HOME AND THE VAN LOST POWER AND WAS BUCKING AS IF THE FUEL PUMP WAS BLOCKED. THESE VANS NEED TO BE CHECKED THOROUGHLY, HONDA NEEDS TO PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THEIR CUSTOMERS COMPLAINTS. I HAVE CHILDREN AND I PRAY THIS VAN DOESN'T LEAD ME IN TO AN ACCIDENT OR FATALITY.
THE ODOMETER DIAL IS VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE IN BRIGHT CONDITIONS. THIS YEAR THEY WENT TO WHITE LETTERS ON GRAY BACKGROUND. AT 70 MILES AN HOUR, STARING AT THE ODOMETER TO CHECK ONE'S SPEED IS SIMILAR TO READING TEXT ON A PHONE. I HAD CONTACTED HONDA A NUMBER OF TIMES TO ASK WHY WE CANNOT ADJUST THE LIGHTING SO THE NUMBERS WHEN LIT CAN BE VIEWED MORE EASILY. THERE IS A LIGHT DETECTOR BUILT IN THAT DOES NOT ALLOW THE DASH LIGHTS TO FUNCTION DURING DAYLIGHT. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL DANGEROUS EVENTS OCCUR DUE TO DRIFTING OF THE VEHICLE WHILE TAKING MY EYES OFF THE ROAD TO TRY AND READ THE DIAL. WHY CAN'T THEY FIX IT TO ALLOW USE OF DASH LIGHTING DURING DAYLIGHT? IT COULD BE AS SIMPLE AS ALLOWING THE DISABLING OF THE DAY/NIGHT DETECTOR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND REVERSING, AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE INCREASED TO THE MAXIMUM RPMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000. .....UPDATED 04/15/16 *BF *CN
WHILE PARKED, WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE HEADLIGHTS AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL NOT COME ON. AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR, THEY COME BACK ON. HAPPENED TWICE SO FAR. ONLY 9000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS. CAN'T FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM.
WAS DRIVING ~70MPH ON FREEWAY NEAR ORLANDO, FL. HEARD A STRANGE LOUD NOISE AND GLASS BREAKING, THEN LOT OF ROAD NOISE. UPON STOPPING TO CHECK WHAT HAPPENED, REALIZED SUNROOF GLASS HAD SHATTERED AND HAD A LARGE HOLE IN IT - IT APPEARED TO BE BOWED UP/OUTWARD. LUCKILY THE INNER COVER WAS CLOSED SO NO GLASS ENTERED THE VEHICLE. DID NOT HEAR ANY IMPACT NOISE WHEN IT HAPPENED AND THERE ARE NO VISIBLE SCRATCHES, DENTS OR OTHER EVIDENCE OF ANY IMPACT AROUND SUNROOF WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THIS IS A FAULT OF SOME KIND [IN GLASS OR OTHERWISE]. THE SUNROOF SITS ALMOST FLAT AND THE PROBABILITY OF IT BEING STRUCK BY ANYTHING MUST BE EXTREMELY SMALL. IF BY SOME MIRACLE IT IS ACTUALLY STRUCK BY SOMETHING, WOULD HAVE TO BE ONLY A GLANCING IMPACT AND I BELIEVE SHOULD NOT SHATTER AND DISINTEGRATE LIKE IT DID. SEEING AS THERE ARE ALREADY OTHER 3 REPORTS OF SIMILAR OCCURRENCES ALREADY REGISTERED WITH NHTSA SPECIFICALLY FOR 2015 MODEL, PLUS A COUPLE OF OTHER REPORTS MENTIONED IN FORUMS ONLINE, I THINK THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT AS A CONSEQUENCE. MY CONCERN IS HONDA DEALER IMMEDIATELY DECIDED IT WAS EXTERNAL ISSUE AND SHOULD BE INSURANCE CLAIM. IF THIS IS STANDARD PRACTICE, IT COULD MEAN OTHER OCCURRENCES OF THIS HAPPENING MIGHT NOT BE GETTING REPORTED TO AMERICAN HONDA AND SO THEY ARE UNAWARE OF A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS PROBLEM.
DURING RAIN AT NIGHT, VERY LITTLE OF THE LOW BEAMS REACH THE ROAD WAY. THE PATTERN OF LIGHT FROM THE PROJECTOR TYPE LOW BEAM IS SUCH THAT THERE IS A BRIGHT LINE ABOUT 2 - 3 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND AT 25 FEET. ABOVE THAT IT SHARPLY FADES TO ALMOST NOTHING. BELOW THAT LINE, IT GRADUALLY FADES TO DARKNESS AT GROUND LEVEL. AT THE FACTORY SETTING, THERE COULD BE MORE LIGHT HIGHER UP. THE REAL ISSUE IS THAT VERY LITTLE LIGHT GETS TO THE ROAD. DURING RAIN, ROADWAY CENTER AND SIDE LINES ARE NOT VISIBLE, HOWEVER, REFLECTIVE MATERIAL ABOUT 1 FOOT OFF THE GROUND IS INCREDIBLY BRIGHT. OI HAVE TAKEN THE VAN TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NO SOLUTION. IT IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS AS THERE IS INSUFFICIENT LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE ROADWAY LANE LINES.
I WAS DRIVING 65 M/H WHEN I HEAR A "SMALL EXPLOSION", WASN'T SURE WHERE THE NOISE CAME FROM. AFTER THAT I SEE SOME SOLID MATERIAL FLYING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR ALL THE WAY TO THE BACK. I PARKED THE CAR ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY AND WHEN I LOOK ON TOP OF THE ROOF I SAW THE MOONROOF BROKE AND NOTICED THE HOLE WAS COMING FROM BOTTOM UP. THERE WERE NOT OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD ELIMINATING THE POSSIBILITY OF ROAD DEBRIS OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD MAKE ME THINK THAT THIS WAS AN INCIDENT OTHER THAN FACTORY ISSUE (PRESSURIZATION) I'M ALMOST 8 MONTHS PREGNANT AND THE ATTENTION I GOT FROM HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN MORGAN HILL IS REALLY DISAPPOINTING THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ISSUE IF I DIDN'T HAVE THE COVER IN PLACE TO PROTECT ME TO GET GLASS ON ME!. I FOUND SIMILAR CASES REPORTED TO THE NHTSA FOR THE SAME CAR AND MODEL. THIS NEEDS TO BE TAKING SERIOUSLY BY AMERICAN HONDA.
2015 EXL ODYSSEY 5000 MILES DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ABOUT 20 MINS INTO MY DRIVE WITH 70 DEGREE GOOD WEATHER. TRANNY STARTES TO CLUNK INTO GEAR. AT FIRST I NOTICED A LITE CLUNK GIVING GAS TO PASS SOMEONE. THEN I NOTICED THE CLUNK GOT WORSE THE HARDER I GASES IT. WHAT I REALIZED IS. THAT WHEN THE CAR SHIFTS INTO GEAR OR DOWNSHIFTS THE TRANNY WOULD SLIP AND CLUNK. THEN WHEN I CAME TO A FULL STOP AND ACCELARATED THE 1ST TO 2ND GEAR SHIFT WAS TERRIBLE (BAD CLUNK) IT CONTINUED EVERYTIME THE CAR SHIFTED INTO 2ND. IT WAS SO BAD I DECIEDED TO PUT CAR INTO 1ST GEAR AND HOLD IT AND MANUALLY SHIFT TO 2ND. I WAS ABLE TO SOFTEN THE CLUNK BY TAKING MY FOOT OFF GAS COUNTING TO 3 AND THEN SHIFTING WHILE DECELERATING. HOWEVER I DID NOTICE THAT THE MORE LOAD ON TRANNY DURING SHIFTS TRANSLATED INTO A HARDER CLUNK. ANYWAY I LIMPED CAR HOME WENT ON ON INTERNET AND FOUND MANY PEOPLE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM, WHAT I FOUND WAS PEOPLE SAYING TO TURN OFF CAR AND RESTART, THUS RESETTING THE COMPUTER. AND YES I DID THAT AND PROBLEM GONE. SO BASICALLY I THINK THAT THE TRANNY MAY HAVE AN ADAPITVE LEARNING MODULE FOR THE TRANNY THAT TELLS VALVES IN TRANNY WHEN TO SHIFT. AND I THINK THAT WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND WENT TO PASS SOMEONE I MUST HAVE GLITCHED THE COMPUTER WITH TO MUCH LOAD AT JUST THE WRONG TIME DURING A SHIFT. WHICH MADE THE COMPUTER ENGAGE THE SHIFT LATER THEN THE VALVEBODIES TO CREATE THAT CLUNK. I.E. WHEN YOUR CAR IS ABOUT TO SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR AND YOU LEAVE YOUR FOOT OFF GAS AND THAN GAS IT AT EXACTLY THE TIME OF THE SHIFT YOU GET THAT CLUNK, ONLY NOT AS BAD AS WHAT I WAS EXPERIENCING. FROM WHAT I AM READING I WILL NOT EVEN BOTHER CALL THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS UNLESS THE PROBLEM CONTINUES AND GETS WORSE. BUT FOR NOW I WILL BE MINDFUL OF MY SHIFTS AND HOW I HIT THE GAS DURING MY SHIFTS. CANT WAIT TILL MY LEASE IS UP. NO HONDA FOR ME NEXT TIME. I AM ONLY 3 MONTHS INTO MY LEASE SO VERY SAD
I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO ISSUES. AFTER GETTING OFF THE HIGHWAY L I CAME TO A STOP AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. UPON PROCEEDING AFTER THE LIGHT WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE BETWEEN 15 & 20 MPH THE CAR STARTED TO JERK OR BUCK FORWARD WHEN GOING FROM 15 TO PAST 20 MPH. IT DID THIS AGAIN AT 25 TO 30 MPH. ONCE PAST THE 30 MPH SPEED I WAS OK AGAIN. THIS HAPPEN EACH AND EVERY TIME I WOULD STOP AND THEN PROCEED AGAIN.THE CAR WOULD JERK AND BUCK FORWARD WHILE GOING FROM 1ST GEAR TO 2ND GEAR. THERE WAS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT CAME ON. IT FELT EACH TIME AS IF I GOT HIT FROM BEHIND THAT IS HOW THE JERKING FORWARD FELT. I STOPPED THE CAR, DID NOT TURN IT OFF & PUT INTO PARK.WHEN I PUT IT BACK INTO DRIVE BEFORE REMOVING MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE THE CAR IN THE DRIVE MODE WAS STARTING TO REV FORWARD EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I DID NOT TURN THE CAR OFF NOT KNOWING IF IT WOULD RESTART. I THEN PROCEEDED HOME AND THIS SAME ISSUE HAPPENED EACH AND EVERY TIME I WOULD STOP AND TRY TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. THIS IS DEFINITELY A POWER TRAIN ISSUE OF SOME SORT. I CONTACTED CLINTON HONDA SERVICE DEPT.OF CLINTON NJ ON 9/25 @ 6:45 PM TO REPORT MY PROBLEM. I SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER MARK AND HE STATED HE WAS UNAWARE OF ANY ISSUE THAT THERE WAS ABOUT THIS WITH THE 2015 ODYSSEY. I WILL BE AT THE DEALERSHIP ON 9/26/15 TO HAVE THE VEHICLE LOOKED AT. .
I WAS DRIVING INTO THE GARAGE AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR WITH NO RESISTANCE AND CAR CRASHED INTO A CABINET IN THE FRONT OF GARAGE CAUSING DAMAGE TO CAR, CABINET AND GARAGE WALL. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT OK AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THEY STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. THEY SAID I COULD CALL HONDA CORPORATE BUT THEY WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING EITHER. I HAD TO PAY TO GET CAR REPAIRED, BUY NEW CABINET AND PAY TO HAVE GARAGE WALL REPAIRED. I THEN HAD TO TRADE CARS BECAUSE MY WIFE REFUSED TO DRIVE THIS ONE. I HAD THE VEHICLE FOR APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I BOUGHT IT NEW. AFTER 4 MONTHS I WAS FORCED TO BUY ANOTHER NEW CAR. I REALIZE THIS MAY NOT BE A BIG DEAL TO SOME BUT WHAT IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED AT STOP SIGN AND I WOULD HAVE WENT THROUGH AND SOMEONE WAS HURT OR EVEN KILLED. THIS CAR WILL BE SOLD TO SOMEONE ELSE AND WE CAN ONLY HOPE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. THERE WAS ANOTHER COMPLAINT IN THIS FORUM WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. FOR HONDA CORPORATE TO JUST PUSH THIS ASIDE AND NOT MAKE IT RIGHT I THINK IS JUST TERRIBLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING 71 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AND FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED INADVERTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE DIAGNOSTIC RESULT WAS INCONCLUSIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MODIFIED FOR WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 700.
had purchased my 2015 Honda Odyssey in the year of 2015. When I first went in for a first service my car have a light saying Check engine, check VSA, check LDW, check FDW and once a while my shake when we are on the road. We told the service people at the dealership to have a look at it but they said nothing wrong with it.
WHILE ACCELERATING AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, THE CAR MADE A CLUNKING NOISE AND THE CAR JERKED SEVERELY AS WE ACCELERATED INTO GEAR. IT HAPPENED AT LEAST 2 MORE TIMES AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A COUPLE OF STOP SIGNS. IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING WHEN IT HAPPENED AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE DRIVER'S ATTENTION IS TAKEN AWAY WHEN IT HAPPENS. THE SCARIEST PART IS NOT KNOWING WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN. WHEN THERE IS A NEED TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY ACROSS TRAFFIC, WE ARE WORRIED THE SAME THING WILL HAPPEN AGAIN OR THAT THE CAR WON'T MAKE IT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WHILE THE ISSUE IS OUTSTANDING. THIS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE ISSUE THAT HAVING READ OTHER FORUMS IS HAPPENING TO OTHERS WITH 2014 AND 2015 ODYSSEY'S AND THE DEALERSHIPS ARE BOT UNDERSTANDING THE CAUSE OR FIX FOR THE ISSUE DUE TO IT HAPPENING SPORADICALLY. THIS CALLS FOR ACTION BEFORE IT LEADS TO SOMEONE BEING HARMED. IT'S A MAJOR ISSUE AND PRESSURE NEEDS PUT ON HONDA TO FIX THE ISSUE!
THE HEADREST FOR THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS MY PROBLEM. I HAVE TO LEAN MY HEAD FORWARD TO KEEP THE HEADREST FROM PUSHING MY HEAD FORWARD. THIS IS CAUSING ME TO HAVE NECK AND SHOULDER PAIN. I TRIED LEANING THE DRIVER'S SEAT BACK BUT THEN I HAD NO SUPPORT FOR MY BACK AND THAT CAUSED ME TO HAVE NECK AND SHOULDER PAIN. I NEED A HEADREST THAT I CAN ADJUST TO GO BACK FURTHER. ALSO, THE HEADRESTS ON THE 3RD ROW GO UP SO HIGH THAT VISIBILITY OUT OF THE BACK WINDOW IS OBSCURED AND I FOUND THAT I COULD ONLY USE MY SIDE VIEW MIRRORS.
THE AUTOMATIC SIDE DOOR ACCIDENTALLY CLOSED AND SQUEEZED ON A 7-YEAR-OLD CHILD'S FINGERS, AND COULD NOT BE OPENNED BY ANY METHOD. WE (AS PARENTS) TRIED ALL DOOR OPEN/CLOSE SWITCHES, DOOR REMOTE CONTROLS, AS WELL AS THE DOOR'S MANUAL HANDLE IN ORDER TO OPEN THE DOOR TO RELEASE THE CHILD'S HAND, BUT ALL EFFORT FAILED TO OPEN THE DOOR TO RELEASE THE CHILD'S FINGERS. THERE IS NO SAFETY MANUAL OVERRIDE (IN THE DOOR DESIGN) AT ALL THAT CAN DISENGAGE/DISCONNECT THE AUTOMATIC OPEN/CLOSE MECHANISM WHEN THE AUTOMATIC MECHANISM FAILS. THE CHILD FELT GREAT PAIN AND CRIED IN THE MEANWHILE. EVENTUALLY, AFTER 15 MINUTES, THE CHILD'S FINGERS SLIPPED OUT THE SQUEEZE. ON AUGUST 9, 2015, WE WERE DRIVING HOME FROM VACATION FROM CEDAR POINT, OHIO TO PITTSBURGH, PA. THIS IS ABOUT A 200 MILE TRIP. ALL OF A SUDDEN I WAS AT A RED LIGHT WAITING IN TRAFFIC. AS SOON AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR. WE BEGAN ACCELERATING TO 25 MILES PER HOUR BUT KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG. MY CAR WOULD NOT LEAVE FIRST GEAR. THE GAUGE ON THE DASHBOARD WENT FROM 1-7 GEAR BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. I WAS IN THE PASSING LANE TRAVELING 15-20 MILES PER HOUR IN A 40MPH ZONE. I THEN PROCEEDED TO CHANGE LANES WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENTIRE CAR JUMPED AS IF IT HAD A MIND OF ITS OWN AND BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. THE CAR BEGAN DRIVING FASTER BUT NOT ANY FASTER THAN 40 MPH. AGAIN, ALL WE COULD HEAR WAS ROOOOOOOM AND THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR LOOKED LIKE WINDSHIELD WIPERS GOING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THE CAR WOULD NOT LEAVE 2ND GEAR. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN OVER AND OVER AGAIN AT EACH RED LIGHT. SINCE THIS WAS A SUNDAY, THE SERVICE CENTER WAS CLOSED. IT WASN'T UNTIL WEDNESDAY THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO TAKE A LOOK AT MY VEHICLE. SINCE NO SENSORS INDICATED A PROBLEM, THEY STATED THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I AM NOT FABRICATING THIS INCIDENT ONE BIT AND AM AFRAID OF THIS HAPPENING AGAIN BUT HAVING A DIFFERENT OUTCOME. IF I EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM AND THE DEALERSHIP DISMISSED ME BECAUSE A SENSOR DID NOT INDICATE A PROBLEM, WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR A SENSOR TO TRIGGER? THIS IS A LEASED VEHICLE OF 1 MONTH AND I AM VERY CONCERNED OF IT HAPPENING AGAIN OR WORSE. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER OF 3 AND SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF IN A 1 MONTH OLD VEHICLE WITH LESS THAN 2,000 MILES.
I WAS DRIVING IN RUSH HOUR STOP AND GO TRAFFIC AND ONCE I STOPPED AND ACCELERATED BETWEEN 10 - 20 MPH THE CAR WOULD MAKE A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE AND THE CAR WOULD SHAKE AS IF THE CAR WAS SLIPPING GEARS, AND THEN WOULD DRIVE FINE. DEALER COULD NOT REPLICATE ISSUE, NO CODES OR ERRORS COULD BE SEEN, AND THE CAR HAD THE LATEST SOFTWARE UPDATE. I REQUESTED THE DEALER HOLD ONTO THE CAR FOR TWO DAYS TO TRY AND REPLICATE THE ISSUE. THIS WAS OUR FIRST EXPERIENCE DRIVING OUR NEW 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY AFTER DARK. THIS LINE BOBS UP AND DOWN WITH CURVES AND DIPS IN THE ROAD IN A DISTRACTING MANNER WHICH PREVENTS YOUR VISION FOCUSING. THE LIGHT ALSO DOES NOT EXTEND VERY FAR IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE EVEN ON FLAT PARTS OF THE ROAD. THIS IS BEGGING FOR AN ACCIDENT. WE COULD EASILY HAVE HIT A DEER OR EVEN A HUMAN BEING WALKING OR BICYCLING ON THE ROAD HAD THERE BEEN ONE. WE STOPPED DRIVING AFTER DARK UNTIL WE COULD GET AN APPOINTMENT WITH OUR DEALERSHIP. OUR DEALER'S MECHANIC INFORMED US THAT CANNOT BE FIXED. HE ALSO SAID THE CHEVY MALIBU HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE LOCATED AN ONLINE FORUM WHERE THE SAME PROBLEM IS DESCRIBED FOR A 2011 HONDA ODYSSEY AND HONDA'S RESPONSE TO THEM WAS THE SAME AS TO US. THEY CHECKED THE CAR AND SAID DUE TO THE RAIN THE AC CONDENSOR STOPPED WORKING AND WE HAD AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THEY COULD NOT FIX. WE WOULD NEED THE DEALER IN THE MORNING. WHEN WE WOKE IN THE AM THE VAN HAD DRIED AND THE AC WORKED AGAIN WE RETURNED HOME AND TOOK TO OUR LOCAL DEALER WITH AN APPT 07/03/15 WHO ADVISED US SINCE IT WORKS NOW THEIR IS NOTHING WE CAN DO. WE LIVE IN A STATE THAT RAINS DAILY AND ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR IN THE RAIN NOW. DEALER STATES IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER LEMON LAW AS IT WAS NOT LIFE THREATENING, LACK OF VISIBILTY TO US IS LIFE THREATENING. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS.

TODD CHECKED THE TIRE AND THE RIM, TOLD ME THAT THE TIRE HIT SOMETHING, WHICH CUT THE TIRE, NOT THE DEFECT BECAUSE HE SAW A SESAME BIG MARK ON THE EDGE OF THE RIM, WHICH CAUSED THE BLOW OUT. BUT HE COULDN'T ANSWER MY QUESTIONS: WHY THE FRONT TIRE WAS FINE? WE COULD NOT SEE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAY ON BRIGHT DAYS. NEITHER THE SPEEDOMETER OR THE TACHOMETER WERE READABLE. MY WIFE MONITORED OUR SPEED WITH A GARMIN GPS. THIS CLUSTER HAS WHITE NUMERALS AND A PALE GREY BACKGROUND. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW WHICH MAKES OPERATION UNSAFE ON BRIGHT DAYS.

AFTER A FEW SHOTS OF IT, I PULLED OVER, RE-STARTED THE VAN/ENGINE (AS I KNOW THAT CLEARS UP THE ISSUE) AND AFTER THAT IT CONTINUED AS NOTHING EVER HAPPENED (I ALSO RECORDED THAT TOO TO SHOW THE DEALER). I EMAILED THE ASSISTANT MANAGER AT MY LOCAL HONDA SERVICE DEPT AND ATTACHED THE VIDEOS. HOPEFULLY,THEY WILL COME WITH A SOLUTION SOON, AS THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ANOMALY. I FOUND OUT THAT THERE ARE SYNCHRO SENSORS IN ALL HONDA TRANSMISSIONS, ONE FOR EVERY SHIFT. WELL, IT SOUNDS LIKE THE SYNCHRO SENSOR THAT GOES FROM 1ST TO 2ND IS THE ONE ACTING UP. ON FEBRUARY 1, 2015, VDC (VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL), LDW (LANE DEPARTURE WARNING), AND FCW (FORWARD COLLISION WARNING) ALL FAILED SIMULTANEOUSLY WHILE DRIVING CONSERVATIVELY AT 25 MPH ON SNOW COVERED ROADS DURING HEAVY SNOW FALL. WHEN THE ECO BUTTON TURNS ON, THE TRANSMISSION STARTS TO MAKE A RATTLING NOISE AND IT CHANGES HOW THE CAR DRIVES. THE STEERING WHEEL AND FOOT PETAL START TO SHAKE OR TREMBLE. ALSO, THE SUSPENSION ON THE CAR IS EXTREMELY NOISY AND HONDA HAS FAILED TO FIX IT. LASTLY AND THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE THIS CAR HAS, IS THAT THE GASOLINE MOVES AROUND IN THE CAR AS YOU DRIVE OR PARK YOUR CAR. YOU CAN HEAR THE GASOLINE SWOOSHING AROUND ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR AT ALL TIMES. I'VE TAKEN THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES TO BY LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP AND THEY CANNOT FIX ANYTHING. THEY STATE THAT EVERYTHING IS A "CHARACTERISTIC DESIGN" WITH THE CAR. ACCORDING TO THE HONDA REPRESENTATIVE THAT RODE IN OUR CAR, THEY HAVE HAD COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION, SUSPENSION AND GASOLINE ISSUE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC FOR AN HOUR OR SO, IN FIRST OR SECOND GEAR. AFTER A WHILE, ANYTIME WE WOULD ACCELERATE TO ABOUT 20 MPH, WE EXPERIENCED A VIOLENT JERKING AS IF WE JUST RAN OVER SOMETHING. THIS HAPPENED CONSISTENTLY EVERY TIME WE ACCELERATED TO OR DECELERATED TO 20MPH. TOOK IT INTO HONDA THE NEXT DAY AND THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. THE JERKING WAS VERY STRONG AND CONSISTENT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR OR DRIVING. WE ARE STILL PLANNING TO CALL HONDA, IT SEEMS LIKE OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE BUT NO ROOT CAUSE HAS BEEN FOUND. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY. WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, A BURNING ODOR EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE AND FELT AS IF IT WERE GOING TO STALL. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
HAD PROBLEMS STARTING THE VEHICLE EARLIER IN THE DAY - INFO DISPLAY SHOWED A WARNING ABOUT MULTIPLE SYSTEMS AND WOULDN'T START THE ENGINE. HONDA INVESTIGATED, NO FAULT FOUND, BUT "TWO CELLS IN BATTERY LOW." THEY PROVIDED A PROBABLE CAUSE OF "SOME LIGHT LEFT ON IN THE CAR WHICH DRAINED THE BATTERY" (WHICH WE KNEW NOT TO BE THE CASE). SAME FAULT OCCURRED AFTER LEAVING DEALERSHIP, TURNED OFF AND ON A COUPLE OF TIMES, AND THEN IT RESTARTED. DRIVING HOME AT APPROXIMATELY 45MPH THE CAR TURNED ITSELF OFF - NO POWER STEERING ASSIST AND NO GAS PEDAL. MANAGED TO WRESTLE THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. MANAGED TO START VEHICLE AGAIN AFTER 5 - 10 MINUTES, BUT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THIS TIME. *TR
I DID NOT HAVE AN AIR BAG INCIDENT. I BOUGHT A 2015 HONDA ODYSSEY TWO WEEKS AGO. I READ THE NYT ARTICLE TODAY, AND CALLED HONDA TO FIND OUT WHETHER THE AIR BAGS INSTALLED IN MY CAR ARE TAKATA. HONDA DECLINED TO TELL ME, STATING THAT THEY DON'T GIVE THAT INFORMATION TO CONSUMERS UNLESS THEIR SPECIFIC VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO RECALL. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE ISSUES LEADING TO THE RECALLS SEEM SHROUDED IN NON-DISCLOSURE, AND THAT CONSUMERS SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIND OUT INFORMATION ABOUT THEIR VEHICLES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE BRAKE FAILURE. HOWEVER, THE DEALER ADVISED THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS OPERATING AS NORMAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE.
