The contact owns a 2019 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that several unknown warning lights were also illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed camera system. The contact was informed that the camera system needed to be replaced, and the software needed to be updated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,395.
At restaurant on 6/1/25, backed out of parking spot. Drove about 30 ft to parking lot exit. Turned onto side street to go to light and turn on main street. About 3 or 4 car lengths from exit to light. Side street sloped down about 20-30 degrees. Brakes would not stop van. Not sure if brakes slowed down van as going slow. However, brake pedal pushed hard down to floor but did not stop van. If hit gas pedal van would have accelerated and engine raced causing acceleration and more damage. No damage to back of vehicle I hit. Very minor damage to my van. Tried yesterday and today to replicate (in isolated locations and with no other vehicle near) the van’s conditions at time of incident. I will be contacting dealer. There is no recall. Do not know if anyone else had this problem or if dealer can find any issue. Notifying NHTSA to advise of this potential systemic issue. I’ll follow up with results of interaction with dealer.
About 5 warning lights came on simultaneously keeping me from driving my vehicle safely
All the symbols related ADAS suddenly popped in my car with no rain or snow or any accidents. When I checked with Honda dealership, they said it caused due to software issue and nothing related hardware and it needed 2500$ for replacing the entire system. If it is software causing this issue why would customer had to pay for it, and it could be a recall. I noticed similar issue for all 2019 and above models.
The front facing monocular camera of the ADAS system has failed on this 2019 Honda Odyssey with approximately 50,000 miles. The failure of this camera has rendered the ADAS systems inoperable including adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assistance. This appears to be a common complaint/failure mode amongst many similar Honda models 2018 - 2022. Over 20 times our van has breaked when it was not needed. This usually happens when going up a hill and turning, or when a car slows but not enough to need to break. In several instances we have almost been rear-ended due to the sudden breaking. We try to turn off the service, but it has to be turned off each time. With the amount of traffic we have in the area, this is very dangerous.
When braking hard it or on hills shakes the whole vehicle bad. Has been doing this since about 10,000 miles. Was taken back to dealer for this at 12,000 miles . I have new brakes and rotors changed 3 times since. Still not right. I think it’s ABS problem or electronic brake issue
The contact owns a 2019 Hyundai Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle suddenly experienced Phantom Braking” and the vehicle decelerated to 60 MPH. The contact tapped the brakes excessively causing the sudden self-braking to cease. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 31,000.
I had new brakes put on my car my brakes for less 12,000 miles ago. I took my car back in today my front left brake is cracked and the caliper was blue indicating it was getting extremely hot. I have taken my vehicle in three times for an issue with the radio because I can hear others talking but they cannot hear me. The radio has not work since I bought the car. Also, there are times when I push the gas that the car stalls for a few seconds I am very dissatisfied with the price I paid for this car and all the issues I’ve had
GOING 25MPH. STEERING WHEEL SHOOK THEN DASH READ IN BLACK "BRAKE" WITH ORANGE BACKGROUND. VAN BRAKED ON ITS OWN. NEAREST CAR WAS 75 FEET AWAY.
BRAKES LOCKED WHEN I HAD TO STOP ABRUPTLY BECAUSE DRIVER IN FRONT STARTED AND THEN STOPPED. UNABLE TO ADVANCE VEHICLE. TAPPING BRAKES DID NOT RELEASE THEM. REQUIRED THAT I PUMP BRAKE PEDDLE WITH FORCE. CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE I WAS ADVANCING FROM A LEFT TURN LANE AND WAS STUCK IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC ON A BUSY STATE HWY.
CAR ACCELERATES OR BUCKS WHEN CHANGING GEARS WHILST DRIVING. RETURNED CAR TO HONDA GARAGE TWICE AND THEY CLAIM THERE IS NO FAULT UNLESS ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES. CAR HAS ONLY 14,000 MILES, FRONT TIRES HAVE WORN PREMATURELY AND CAR SHAKES WHEN APPLYING BRAKES.
THERE IS A VIBRATION WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED ON A DOWNHILL ESPECIALLY ON A 6% GRADE. BRAKES ARE FINE ON A STRAIGT NON HILL AND A MINOR DOWNHILL DESCENT.. VIBRATION SEEMS TO OCCUR ONLY WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED FREQUENTLY ON A STEEP DOWNHILL. VIBRATION BEGINS WITH A MINOR SHAKE THAN GRADUALLY BECOMES HEAVY ON THE SHAKE FEELING ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND FRONTAL AREA OF VAN. THE FRONT PASSENGER EXPERIENCE THE VIBRATION AS WELL. THERE ARE 8 PASSENGERS ON BOARD INCLUDING OUR BAGGAGE - 4 ADULTS AND 3 KIDS. WE NOTICE THIS PROBLEM ONLY ON A LONG DECENT ON A STEEP HILL WHILL APPLYING THE BRAKES FREQUENTLY. WE FELT INSECURE AND HAD TO LET GO OF THE BRAKE PEDALS FREQUENTLY JUST TO PERHAPS COOL DOWN THE BARKES THEN APPLY AGAIN ON STAGGERED TIMES. WE REPORTED THIS TO A HONDA DEALER IN LOMA LINDA AND THEY SAID ITS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY NOR ON RECALL. IT WAS SO SURPRISING TO HEAR THAT BECAUSE THERE HAS BEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT THIS DILEMMA. ITS A STILL A NEW VEHICLA AND I THINK THERE SHOULDN'T EVEN HAVE THIS SORT OF PROBLEM WITH ONLY 23000 MILES ON IT AND ITS HARDLY BEEN USED . WE ONLY USE THIS FOR FAMILY TRAVELS. PEASE LOOK INVESTIGATE ON THIS PROBLEM BECASUSE APPARENTLY NOTHING HAS BEEN ISSUED TO RECALLS NOR COVERED WARRANTLY ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS ONLY LAST YEAR'S MODEL 2019!
HOLD BRAKE RELEASES AUTOMATICALLY WITHOUT PRESSING ACCELERATOR
FOUR TIMES IN LAST 3 MONTHS WHEN HEADING INTO SUN, 40 MPH, EMPTY RURAL ROAD,, AUTO BRAKING SYSTEM FLASHED CRASH WARNING ON SCREEN IN BACK OF STEERING WHEEL. THERE WERE NO HAZARDS. I QUESTION WHETHER THE BRAKES MIGHT BE APPLIED. SANTA FE HONDA DEALER, ON OCT 23, 2019 SAID THIS HAPPENS BUT IS NOT A PROBLEM IF I MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL A LITTLE, THEN THE WARNING WILL GO AWAY AND NO BRAKING WILL OCCUR. NOTHING DANGEROUS DID OCCUR, BUT I AM CONCERNED AND DISENGAGE THE SYSTEM IF I REMEMBER. MUST BE DONE EVERY TIME ENGINE IS STARTED.
NEW ODYSSEY WITH 3K MILES MY BRAKS MAKING GRINDING NOISE AND UNABLE TO COME TO FULL STOP AS NORMAL TIME AND DISTANCE
