KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM WARNING CONTINUES TO COME UP IN MY 2016 PILOT FROM TALKING WITH MULTIPLE HONDA PILOT OWNERS IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THE SWITCH (ENGINE START/STOP) BEING INSTALLED ARE FAULTY.
WARNING LIGHT SAYS "KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM". I SEE IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM BASED ON WWW.PILOTEERS.COM GROUP
SEVERAL TIMES WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC OR AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE ENGINE STOP FEATURE HAS NOT WORKED PROPERLY. THE ENGINE TURNS OFF COMPLETELY AND DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY RESTART. THE SUV HAS TO BE PLACED IN PARK AND RESTARTED MANUALLY. I PLAN ON BRINGING IT IN NEXT WEEK TO HAVE THEM LOOK INTO IT.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AWD SYSTEM LIGHT BOTH SPORADICALLY ON AND SLUGGISH ACCELAERATION - DISC IWTH MECHANIC, AFTER INSPECTION AND RESEARCH - FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY NEEDING REPLACMENT LESS THAN 3 YEARS OWNERSHIP, ACCORDING OT MECHANIC, HONDA DELAERSHIPS KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND ARE SELLING A LOT OF FUEL INJECTOR SYSTEM AND AN ADDITIONAL REQUIRED PART
KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM LIGHT COMES OFF AND ON.
THE ENGINE IDLE STOP FEATURE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT A STOP THE ENGINE TURNS OFF LIKE INTENDED. SOMETIMES THE RADIO TURNS OFF AND RESTARTS IMMEDIATELY. RANDOMLY WHEN YOU TAKE YOU FOOT OFF THE GAS THE ENTIRE VEHICLE AND ALL FUNCTIONS TURN OFF. IN ORDER TO TURN THE VEHICLE YOU NEED TO PRESS THE IGNITION BUTTON AND SET THE VEHICLE IN PARK. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THE MOST RECENT TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ON THE FREEWAY AT A CREST. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE.
VEHICLE STATES KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM THOUGH NOTHING IS WRONG? THE OTHER WEEK THE WINDOWS, INCLUDING SUNROOF, ALL ROLLED DOWN BY THEMSELVES SOMETIME EARLY MORNING AND RAIN GOT IN- INORDER FOR ME TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN I HAVE TO SLEEP WALK TO MY KEY FOB AND HIT UNLOCK TWICE AND HOLD THE UNLOCK BUTTON UNTIL ALL WINDOWS ARE FULLY DOWN. IT WAS A STINKY FLOOD MESS.
THE KEYLESS START SYSTEM ERROR HAS COME ON RECENTLY AND GOES ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE CHANGED THE BATTERY IN THE KEY FOBS AND THE ERROR STILL COMES UP. AFTER RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM I HAVE LEARNED THAT SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND IN A LOT OF CASES THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT DOWN DURING OPERATION DUE TO THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT COULD LEAD TO GREAT BODILY INJURY AND /OR DEATH. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND AND REMEDIED. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS THROUGH NHTSA ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING AT 15 MPH AND MY CAR JOLTED AND STALLED AND SEVERAL (5) WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. VEHICLE STABILITY, BRAKE, POWER STEERING, AND A COUPLE OTHER LIGHTS. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR. I TRIED TO DRIVE IT A FEW MILES AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT PROPERLY AND I COULDN'T DRIVE IT MORE THAN ABOUT 20 MPH. I HAD IT TOWED FROM HOME TO THE CLOSEST HONDA DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE HAD AROUND 40K MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. HONDA SAID IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE WITH A BULLETIN - STATING THAT THE CAM SHAFT ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH A SENSOR. THEY TOLD ME THE CAM SHAFT ASSEMBLY WAS UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY BUT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE SENSOR. WHEN I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT HONDA WAS GIVING EXTENDED WARRANTIES TO NEWER MODELS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND EVEN DOING RECALLS BUT MY VIN DIDN'T QUALIFY. A FEW MONTHS DOWN THE ROAD AND MY CAR STARTED HAVING SHIFTING PROBLEMS AGAIN. SO, I TAKE IT IN AND THEY ARE SAYING THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE SERVICED BUT THE SERVICE ONLY GETS A LITTLE BIT OF THE FLUID OUT SO THEY WANTED TO DO THE SERVICE 3 TIMES AND CHARGED ME FOR DOING THE SAME THING 3 TIMES. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I FIND OUT THAT IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO GIVE A LIMITED WARRANTY ON UP 80K MILES. MY CONCERN IS THAT I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH SHIFTING ISSUES, STALLS AND JOLTS THAT HAVE HAPPENED WITHIN 4 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. IF I WERE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THAT HAPPENED, GOING AT 60 MPH, IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED UNNECESSARY ACCIDENTS. IT'S DANGEROUS BUT, STILL NO RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE AND IT'S LIKE FIGHTING TOOTH AND TOENAIL WITH HONDA TO GET THEM TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT. I DON'T KNOW WHEN OR IF IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I PURCHASED MY HONDA BRAND NEW. THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE OFF THE ROADS UNTIL THE ISSUES ARE FIXED. I THINK I HAVE A LEMON!
ROOF MOLDINGS HAVE BEEN POPPING OFF WITHOUT HAVING ANYTHING DAMAGED THEM OR AFFECTED THEN IN ANY WAY. THEY ARE COMING OFF ON THEIR OWN.
THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND HONDA HAS BEEN UNABLE TO REPLICATE. IT HAS HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY AND ON CITY STREETS. THE CAR IS IN DRIVE AND MY CAR HAS AN ENGINE IDLE SO THAT WHEN TRAFFIC COMES TO A HALT THE ENGINE CUTS OUT TO CONSERVE GAS. ON MANY A OCCASION IT WILL NOT JUST AUTOMATICALLY START BUT WILL INSTEAD KICK THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. IT IS EXTREMELY SCARY AS IT WILL THEN NOT START AS IF THE BATTERY IS DEAD BUT THE BATTERY IF FINE AND HAS BEEN REPLACED AS HONDA THOUGHT THAT WOULD RESOLVE IT. THEY ALSO REPLACED ALL THE FUEL INJECTORS AND THIS ALSO HAS NOT STOPPED THE PROBLEM. I FEEL I AM GOING TO BE KILLED IN THIS CAR. I HAVE CASE # 08783155 WITH HONDA AND AFTER HAVING JUST SPOKE TO THEM THEY ADVISED ME TO FILM PROBLEM!! YES THEY EXPECT ME TO GET MY PHONE OUT AND FILM WHILE MY VEHICLE HAS COME TO A HALT IN MOVING TRAFFIC!
I HAVE A 2016 HONDA PILOT TOURING. 6 MONTHS AGO, THE AUTO IDLE STOP FEATURE BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE CAR WILL NOT RESTART AFTER THE AUTO IDLE STOP ENGAGES. I HAVE TO QUICKLY FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET THE CAR STARTED AGAIN WHILE TRAFFIC IS DODGING ME ON THE FREEWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN HALF A DOZEN TIMES. THE ONLY REASON IT HAS NOT HAPPENED MORE IS BECAUSE I TURN THE 'FEATURE' OFF AS OFTEN AS I REMEMBER. I WOULD LIKE A RECALL TO PERMANENTLY DISABLE AUTO IDLE STOP. THE FEATURE IS DANGEROUS. WILL SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE IN AN ACCIDENT BEFORE HONDA AND THE NHTSA DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM? THERE ARE MANY REPORTED CASES OF THIS HAPPENING AND HONDA IS UNABLE TO FIX IT. No prior indications of a pending issue. Stopped at an intersection for a Red Light, Auto Start/Stop feature turned the engine off as designed. When took foot off of the brake pedal and depressed gas pedal to start moving for the green light, which should have re-engaged the Auto Start feature and started the engine, multiple dash warning and caution lights turned on and the car itself never turned on. Result was a stuck car. Required multiple attempts to successfully restart the engine over several minutes, which included a couple of traffic light sequences (Red, Green, Red) around the stuck car. The brake pedal seemed extremely stiff with very little movement during these start attempts. Asked 2 Honda dealerships, they said they never heard about it and could not replicate.
THE KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM SHOWS IN ERROR AFTER 25K MILES. THE CAR IS STATIONARY.
2016 HONDA PILOT , 68441 MILES ON IT. EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM DISPLAYED ON DASH. SERVICE ADVISES IT NEEDS A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND THAT THERE WILL BE A CHARGE FOR IT. COMPLAINT FILED WITH HONDA. CUSTOMER SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES THAT THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO GET RIGHT. IMAGINE IF YOU HAD TO PAY FOR EVERY UPDATE THAT MICROSOFT ISSUES? SOFTWARE UPDATE DID NOT CORRECT PROBLEM AND WILL NOT BE REFUNDING MONEY SPENT. IF ANYTHING, IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
UPON ACCELERATION TO PASS, THE RPMS DROP, THERE SEEMS TO BE NO POWER. LIFTING OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND REAPPLYING, THE POWER RETURNS. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES,THREE BEING INTERSTATE AND ONE LOCAL FOUR LANE ROAD.
2016 HONDA PILOT SUDDEN ROUGH ACCELERATION WHILE PULLING UP TO THE DRIVEWAY. THIS HAPPENED AFTER ACCELERATOR WAS RELEASED BEFORE THE APPROACH. FORTUNATELY THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED ON TIME BEFORE CRASHING INTO THE PROPERTY.
CAR WAS ENGAGED IN "IDLE-STOP" AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. FOLLOWING DRIVER'S LIFTING OF FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE PEDAL, CAR SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS LIT UP, AND CAR WAS NOT ABLE TO BE TURNED BACK ON FOR 1-2 MINUTES. CAR WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY STREET, AND A LARGE VEHICLE NEARLY REAR-ENDED THE DEAD CAR. DRIVER WAS THEREAFTER ABLE TO FOLLOW ON-SCREEN INSTRUCTIONS FOR RESTARTING VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL IN SEVERAL INITIAL ATTEMPTS. (IN OTHER WORDS, CAR WAS NOT STARTING DESPITE DRIVER'S COMPLYING WITH INSTRUCTIONS. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, CAR HAD IN SOME INSTANCES VERY MOMENTARILY "CUT OUT" FOLLOWING AN "IDLE-START." DRIVER NOTICED A "POPPING" AT THIS TIME. BUT THE PROBLEM, WHICH THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER CLAIM TO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT AND ARE "UNABLE TO REPLICATE" DURING SERVICE, IS CLEARLY BECOMING WORSE AND MORE DANGEROUS OVER TIME. THE BEST THE HONDA DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT APPEARS TO BE ABLE TO DO IN DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM IS TO SUGGEST BATTERY RECHARGE OR REPLACEMENT, WHICH HAS NOT BEEN AN ISSUE FOR OUR CAR AND IS APPARENTLY A COMMON SUGGESTION FROM DEALERSHIPS. THIS IS AN APPARENTLY BIGGER ISSUE THAN HONDA HAS BEEN WILLING TO ADMIT.
MY VEHICLE RECEIVED THE "KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" ON THE DASH AND HAS NOT GONE AWAY AFTER TWO DEALERSHIP VISITS AND $500 LATER. AFTER PERFORMING SOME RESEARCH, THIS SEEMS TO BE A CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH MOST HONDA PILOT OWNERS. THE PROBLEM OCCURS EVERY TIME YOU ARE TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE.
THE BACK LIFTGATE IS HOLDING WATER INSIDE OF THE LIFTGATE. NOT SURE IF IT CAME FROM RAIN OR WASHING THE VEHICLE. WE OPENED THE LIFTGATE & WATER CAME POURING OUT.

KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM ERROR MESSAGE: HAVING TROUBLE STARTING AND TURNING OFF VEHICLE. HAVE TO PRESS START BUTTON SEVERAL TIMES OR HOLD LONGER. SOMETIMES, I HAVE TO DEPRESS BREAK AND THEN TRYING AGAIN...START BUTTON LIGHT IS NOT ALWAYS ON. IT'S TAKING LONGER AND LONGER TO START AND TURN OFF VEHICLE. The vehicle’s Auto Stop/Start feature routinely fails to restart the engine when releasing the brake, turning the steering wheel, or selecting Park. In order to start the vehicle, it must be placed into Park, turned off, and then turned back on by holding the Start button. This has worked on most occasions (approx 90% of occasions thus far); other times a jump start was required. Attempts to resolve from Honda have required several purchases of a new battery and denial of there being a larger issue. There is no indication or warning that the feature has failed until attempting to resume driving (or the vehicle attempts to restart itself based on the vehicle’s self-monitored parameters). The failure to start leaves the vehicle stuck in traffic risking collision and/or personal injury as a result.

IT COMES AND GOES AND LASTS FOR DIFFERENT LENGTHS OF TIME. 2 DIFFERENT HONDA DEALERS/SERVICE REPS HAVE NOT HEARD OF THIS AND DO NOT KNOW THE FIX. SHOULD NOT HAVE TO SPEND UPWARDS OF $1000 FOR GUESS FIXES. SPOKE TO HONDA AND THEY DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING FOR A FIX EITHER. HOPEFULLY HONDA WILL ADDRESS TO PREVENT CRITICAL ISSUES. MY 2016 HONDA PILOT WITH 61,000 MILES ON HAS RECENTLY GIVEN ME THE KELYESS START SYSTEM WARNING. IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH PILOTS FROM THIS MODEL YEAR. IT ALSO SEEMS THAT DEALERS DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. IT APPEARS MANY PEOPLE HAVE TRIED NUMEROUS THINGS, WITHOUT ANY LUCK. I DO NOT WISH TO PAY FOR THE DEALER TO FIX SOMETHING THAT MAY NOT BE FIXABLE. WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS?
WHEN ENGINE AUTO IDLE IS ENGAGED, INSTEAD OF RE-ENGAGING WHEN FOOT REMOVED FROM BRAKE, THE CAR STALLS IN ONE OF THREE WAYS. GRADE 1, THE FAN AND RADIO SHUT OFF BUT THE ENGINE ENGAGES ONCE GAS IS APPLIED. GRADE 2, THE FAN, RADIO AND ENGINE SHUT OFF BUT RESTART ONCE GAS IS APPLIED. VARIOUS WARNING LIGHTS THEN APPEAR ON THE DASH. GRADE 3, EVERYTHING SHUTS OFF AND THE CAR WILL NOT RESTART UNTIL YOU SHIFT INTO PARK AND PRESS THE START BUTTON SEVERAL TIMES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT HAPPENS AT INTERSECTIONS WHEN CARS EXPECT YOU TO BE MOVING AND YOU'RE STALLED OUT. I HAVE VIDEO OF THESE INCIDENTS AND HAVE PROVIDED THEM TO THE HONDA DEALER.
MY 2016 HONDA PILOT HAVE BEEN POPPING UP A 'KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM' MESSAGE . IT HAPPENED ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO. IT'S SOMETIMES WILL GO AWAY AND COME BACK THE NEXT DAY. IT'S ON AND OFF. WHEN THIS ISSUE OCCURS THE 'WALK AWAY AUTO LOCK ' ALSO DIDN'T WORK TOO. I HOPE HONDA TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE BY RECALLING THE MODEL.
AS I WAS PARKING MY CAR THIS MORNING, THE KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM ERROR POPPED UP. I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN JUST TO MAKE SURE IT WOULD START, THEN TURNED IT OFF AGAIN AND THEN DROPPED OFF MY KIDS AT DAYCARE. WHEN I STARTED IT 5 MINUTES LATER, THE CAR STARTED AND RAN FINE, BUT THE SYSTEM ERROR LIGHT CONTINUES. WE RECENTLY HAD THE PILOT AT THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE AN EMISSION ERROR LIGHT CAME ON AND SUDDENLY THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT OR ACCELERATE PROPERLY. ALL THREE SENSORS WERE REPLACED (ONLY THE DAMAGED ONE WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY) AND THE CAR WAS AGAIN RUNNING FINE, BUT NOW THIS NEW ERROR LIGHT.
FUEL IN HECTORS NEED REPLACING AFTER 51000 MILES. CODE STATES THAT FUEL INJECTOR WAS INSTALLED IMPROPERLY AT THE FACTORY. THE EMISSIONS CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON WHICH PROMPTED THE INSPECTION.
WE HAVE BEEN USING THIS CAR FOR 3 YEARS WITHOUT ANY ISSUE. UNTIL THIS WARNING MESSAGE "KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" POPPING UP ON MY DASHBOARD AFTER STARTING THE ENGINE. THE CAR IS STILL ABLE TO START WITH PUSH BUTTON JUST FINE BUT IT IS VERY ANNOYING AND FRUSTRATING THAT IT MIGHT BE ONE DAY THAT THE CAR WON'T START. AFTER DOING THE RESEARCH FROM INTERNET, IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR THIS CAR AFTER 30K OR AFTER 3 YEARS. WHAT I WOULD LIKE IS TO HAVE THE HONDA DEALER TO FIX THIS ISSUE WITHOUT COST (RECALL) BECAUSE THE WARRANTY OF THIS CAR IS ALREADY EXPIRED.
THE CAR WONT START OR LOCK. 'KEY FOB NOT RECOGNIZED' LIGHT COMES ON. INTERMITTENT. CAR IS PARKED, BUT WILL DRIVE WIHT IGHT ON.
CAR WILL STALL WHEN STOPPED WITH THE AUTO-ENGINE IDLE ENGAGED. FIRST STARTED WITH RADIO CUTTING OUT WHEN ENGINE WAS RESTARTING. PROGRESSED TO STALLING WHEN ENGINE IDLE IS ENGAGED AND FOOT IS TAKEN OFF THE BRAKE - CAR WILL JOLT AND THEN STALL. IT SWITCHED TO NEUTRAL AND MUST BE PUT BACK IN PARK AND THE START BUTTON PRESSED MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET IT TO RESTART - CAN TAKE A FEW MINUTES. VERY DANGEROUS AT BUSY INTERSECTIONS. CAR WAS CHECKED BY DEALER AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS. NEXT DAY THE COLLISION MITIGATION SYSTEM PROBLEM LIGHT CAME ON PERMANENTLY AND CAR STALLED AT LIGHTS TWICE MORE. CAR IS BACK AT THE DEALER NOW BUT THEY STILL CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG.
KEYLESS START PROBLEM - COULD NOT START THE ENGINE.
WHEN GETTING INTO VEICLE WHILE IT IS STATIONARY TO BEGIN TRIP. KEEP GETTING A KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM ERROR MESSAGE PERIODICALLY FOR THE PAST 7 MONTHS STARTING IN APPROX JUNE 2019. AT TIMES THE ENGINE WON'T START. AFTER PARKING OR LEAVING VEHICLE IN A STATIONARY POSITION. ALSO, THE WALK AWAY AUTO LOCK FEATURE HASN'T WORKED SINCE JULY 2019 (6 MONTHS). HAVE RESET SYSTEM SEVERAL TIMES BUT ISSUE STILL RETURNS AND THE WALK AWAY FEATURE HAS NEVER RESET OR WORKED AGAIN
KEYLESS START IDIOT LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON.
"KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" MESSAGE SHOWING UP ON SCREEN AND GOING AWAY RANDOMLY. DOESN'T SEEM TO BE AFFECTING START ENGINE OR ANYTHING ELSE YET, BUT MAYBE IT'S A DEFECTIVE GLITCH OR SOMETHING.
SUDDENLY 'KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM' POPPED UP WHEN I PUT MY CAR INTO PARK.
THE ENGINE FULLY STOPPED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HWY WHILE DRIVING ALMOS GOT REAR ENDED. I WAS MOVING TAPPED THE BREAK AND THE ENGINE STOPPED ( LIKE IN IDLE) I QUICKLY PUSHED ON THE GAS AND AFTER SECONDS OF NO RESPONSE IT CAME BACK. ON 9/2/2018 THIS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS GOING TJRU PAYING TOLL I TOUCHED THE BREAK TRYING TO SLOW DOWN IT COMPLETLY DIED, TRIED TO PUSH GAS NO RESPONSE DIED AND WENT IN N. HAD TO TURN IT ON AMD DRIVE AGAIN. AT THAT TIME WENT TO DEALER AMD THEY DID NOT SEE AN ISSUE. IT IS HAPPENENING MORE NOW. IT IS FRIGHTENING TO BE UNDER THE MERCEY OF TJE PERAON BEHIND U TO SLOW DOWN IN TIME. THIS IS HORROBLE VERY SCARY AND CAN KILL A FAMILY!
"KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" HAS BEEN POPPING UP ON MY DASHBOARD FOR PAST MONTH WHILE I'M DRIVING. I HAVE 51,000 MILES ON PILOT. DOESN'T SEEM TO AFFECT CAR YET BUT I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT OTHERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WHICH IS CAUSING ISSUES WITH CAR NOT STARTING. ONLINE COMMENTS SUGGEST HONDA HAS NO CLEAR RESOLUTION ON WHAT IS CAUSING THIS.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND REAR WINDSHIELD COMPLETELY SHATTERED.
EMISSION SYSTEMS PROBLEM
THE FUEL INJECTORS FAILED AT 41,000 MILES AND THE CAR WAS 2 AND HALF YEARS OLD. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH NO OUTWARD CONDITIONS OF A PROBLEM. HONDA SERVICE TECHNICIAN COULDN'T CLEAR ENGINE LIGHT. HE CLAIMED IT WAS THE FUEL INJECTORS AND THEY REPLACED AT 1200 HUNDRED DOLLARS. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE HEARD OTHER HONDA OWNERS WITH THE 2016 PILOT ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. HONDA HAS BEEN TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE TO MY CONCERNS. THIS WAS WHILE IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS.
A couple of times, while sitting at a stop light, the auto stop feature has failed to restart the car, resulting in a need to completely turn the car off and restart it in traffic. We have also had it occur when stopped at a stop sign and not having the car restart, as we've attempted to pull out in to traffic. We have not taken it to a dealer or service center, and have elected to turn the feature off to mitigate the system failure. There are zero indications that the car won't restart. Occassionally, when we forget to turn the auto start feature off "when it does work correctly" radio audio drops out while the car restarts. This problem has been ongoing for about three years.
IDLE STOP FUEL SAVER FEATURE CAUSES CAR TO STALL WHEN BRAKE IS DISENGAGE. MY CAR HAS STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES. IT DOES NOT ALLOW A QUICK RESTART. IT HAS TO RESET BEFORE CAR CAN RESTART ENGINE. HONDA BLOGS SITE ON THIS ISSUE IS NUMEROUS. THIS PRESENTS A HAZARD FOR CAR STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND IN TRAFFIC CONDITIONS. PLEASE HELP. HONDA HAS NOT PROVIDED ANY SOLUTIONS.
THE FOLLOWING ALERT SHOWS UP: KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM. IT HAPPENS AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE IS STARTED AND REMAINS ON. THE DEALERSHIP RESET THE CODE BUT IT RETURNED 1 WEEK LATER AND ISN'T GOING AWAY.
WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES BUT THE MOST PRESSING IS THAT THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY STOP RESPONDING UNDER ACCELERATION. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES ONCE VERY NEARLY CAUSED A VERY BAD ACCIDENT WITH A BIG RIG WHILST WE WERE ENTERING A FREEWAY. THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY NOT RESPOND TO THROTTLE THE GAUGES SEEM TO RESET AND THEN THE CAR WILL GO. SIMILAR TO HOW THE AUTO STOP IDLE FUNCTION WORKS EXCEPT WE WERE NOT STOPPED WE WERE UNDER ACCELERATION. WE HAVE ALSO HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES WHERE THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START AFTER THE IDLE STOP HAS ACTIVATED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT FORCING US TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND THEN RESTART IT. WE HAVE TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES BUT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO RECREATE THE ISSUE AND ASSURE US THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE... BEYOND THE PROBLEMS LISTED ABOVE THE CAR FREQUENTLY HAS ELECTRICAL SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE AUTO BRAKE AND COLLISION DETECTION, I CANT EVEN COUNT THE NUMBER OF TIMES THAT THE CAR HAS SUDDENLY BRAKED OUT OF NO WHERE, NO OBSTACLES OR ANYTHING TO TRIGGER IT, JUST DECIDES WE NEED TO BRAKE. THESE "SAFETY FEATURES" SHOULD REALLY BE REVIEWED AND TESTED BETTER BEFORE BEING PUT INTO A PRODUCTION VEHICLE.
I'VE HAD THIS CAR STOP AND TURN OFF SUDDENLY AT INTERSECTIONS AS I WAS PRESSING ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE AFTER WAITING FOR A RES LIGHT. NOW I'M GETTING AN ERROR THAT SAY 'KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM.' THIS HAPPENS RIGHT AS I GET IN THE VEHICLE AND PRESS THE ENGINE START BUTTON.
FIRST A LOT OF DIFFERENT LIGHTS WERE COMING ON SAYING DIFFERENT STUFF WAS WRONG. SO HAD IT FIXED. THEY REPLACED THE SPRING HARNESS IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THEN NOT LONG AFTER THE BATTERY DIED REPLACED IT AND NOW THE BATTERY DIED AGAIN THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE KEYLESS REMOTE START PROBLEM LIGHT TURNED ON AND THE MITIGATION SYSTEM DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK IT JUST WORK THEN SOMETIMES DOESN'T WORK, THEIR IS NO LIGHT THAT COME ON TO TELL ME IT NOT WORKING I JUST KNOW BE I'M DRIVING AND MIGHT RAFT I DRIFT OVER A WHITE LINE AND NOTHING HAPPENS AND SOMETIMES IT WORK LET'S ME KNOW I'M GOING OVER THE WHITE LINE ALSO IF I'M COMING UP ON ANOTHER CAR TO FAST IT DOESN'T LET ME NO BY BEEPING AND SOMETIMES IT DOES AND THE CENTER TOUCH SCREEN DOESN'T WORK AT ALL AND THE AC/HEAT DOESN'T WORK EITHER. MY PILOT ONLY HAS 45,000 AND ABOUT 38,000 WHEN I FIRST STARTED HAVING THE PROBLEMS.
ON AND OFF, THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS WE'VE BEEN GETTING "KEYLESS START SYSTEM PROBLEM" WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR. SOMETIMES I GET THE ISSUE ONCE, THEN IT STARTS AFTER THAT. BUT RECENTLY I'VE HAD TO TRY TO START THE CAR 10+ TIMES BEFORE IT FINALLY WORKS. FOR SOME REASON IT APPEARS TO HAVE SLIGHTLY BETTER LUCK AFTER I LOCK THE CAR DOORS. OUR 2016 HONDA PILOT HAS THE AUTO STOP/START FEATURE ( USED FOR SAVING GAS WHEN YOU ARE AT A COMPLETE STOP). THERE HAS BEEN AN ISSUE THAT IS DANGEROUS- AS YOU ARE DRIVING AND STOP AT A RED LIGHT, THE CAR WITH ENGAGE IN THE STOP/START , BUT WILL THEN JUST TURN OFF THE CAR. IT THEN ASKS FOR YOU TO PUT YOUR CAR IN PARK. WHEN YOU DO THE CAR COMPLETELY TURNS OFF, BUT THEN WONT ALLOW YOU TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON. TAKES AROUND 30 SECONDS FOR THE CAR TO TURN BACK ON, BUT YOU ARE JUST SITTING THERE WITH CARS HONKING AND ALMOST REAR ENDING YOUR VEHICLE. THIS IS HAPPEN ALMOST EVERY TIME THE GAS GOES INTO THE STOP/START MODE. IT HAPPENED SO MUCH THAT WE HAVE NOW TURNED IF OFF, WHICH DOES HELP. FIRST, I THOUGHT IT WAS A BATTERY ISSUE , WHICH WE CHANGED AND NOTHING IMPROVED. I REALIZE THAT THIS STOP/START FEATURE IS RELATIVELY NEW CAR FEATURE, BUT IF THERE IS GOING TO BE THESE ISSUES- IT IS NOT SAFE, THERE NEEDS TO BE AN IMPROVEMENT TO THAT PART TO PREVENT THIS. NOT SURE IF THIS ISSUE IS HAPPENING WITH OTHER PEOPLE AND IF PEOPLE ARE REPORTING THAT THEY ARE WORRIED ABOUT HONDA'S STOP/START FEATURE
