NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2024 Honda Prologue. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
When turning a knocking sound occurs. It sounds like it is coming from the back of the vehicle. It happens when you turn right or left. Concerned that this could lead to a part breaking and causing an accident.
Loud Clicking sound when the steering wheel is turned to the left. The axles are making a Clicking sound.
At random times, usually when the battery is below 40% I will get warnings that say "reduced acceleration drive with car". I've own the car for a year (brand new) and this has happened at least half a dozen times or more.
The cv axle makes a very loud clicking noise when turning and is actively getting worse. Honda has done nothing to ensure my safety in this car and I with experience in vehicles know the cars cv components are due to fail at some point.
Axel or CV joints make loud clicking noise when turning
Front axle clicking noise when turning left, most noticeable at low speeds and from a stop. Noise is repeatable and occurs consistently during left turns. Suspected front axle / CV joint defect. Concerned about potential powertrain failure and loss of drive while turning. Vehicle is a 2024 Honda Prologue.
When turning right from stand still, hear clicking sounds that appear to be coming from the right side.
Clicking/tapping noise heard when turning either left or right.
The backup camera is almost useless at night. Either the backup lights are not bright enough, or the camera is not sensitive enough in low light so that you are essentially blind when reversing at night.
The CV joints began clicking when turning at low speed and were repaired under warranty by the dealer. Dealer warned this is happening with lots of Prologues and might recur. Now approaching 7000 miles and the problem is occurring again, requiring further service. It doesn't appear that the replacement/fix is actually better, so the problem just keeps happening.
I have just over 8,000 miles, and now when I turn left or right there is clicking sounds coming from the front suspension (left tire area when turning left, right tire area when turning right). I've had the vehicle (bought used) for about 1500 miles now. I don't notice anything other than the clicking sound, but I'm afraid that there might be more wrong with the suspension. I plan on going to the dealer to look at it.
High voltage warning light, service vehicle soon light, reduced speed limit, would not charge past 25%, forward looking camera issues warning light would show up randomly Called the local Honda dealer(01/26/26), talked with service manager, He told me to bring the vehicle in immediately. The Honda dealer refused to fix it under warranty since it was in an accident.(Right fender and driver door needed repaired.) The dealer wanted $300 dollars to perform a diagnostic test on vehicle. Dealer found that the HVAC system had failed which also includes the 12 volt charging system to also fail. Dealer wanted an additional $800 for further diagnostic testing. Informed me that the full warranty was void do to it being in a previous accident and I will be responsible for all repairs for this vehicle. Contacted Honda headquarters and filed a complaint thru them. The car was towed to another dealer where they are working on it currently. No new updates as of 02/02/26
2024 Honda Prologue Elite AWD experiences severe drivetrain shudder, banging, and lurching when turning at or near full steering lock at low speeds (e.g., parking lots, U-turns, three-point turns). Severity increases significantly in cold ambient temperatures (below approximately 32°F). The front axle feels as though it is binding and releasing repeatedly, causing the entire vehicle to lurch violently. The condition is present from cold start and does not fully resolve even after the drivetrain warms up after several minutes of driving. The vehicle has been to an authorized Honda dealer three times in approximately one month for this same condition, all under warranty, between approximately 7,660–7,675 miles: Visit 1: Dealer verified failed outer CV joint on left front half shaft. Left front half shaft assembly replaced. Visit 2: Right front half shaft outer CV joint diagnosed as failing. Right front half shaft assembly replaced. Visit 3: Binding and lurching returned in both directions. Both left and right front half shaft assemblies replaced again. Vehicle held approximately two weeks waiting for parts. In total, four front half shaft assemblies have been replaced across three warranty repairs using the same GM part number. The condition returned immediately upon picking up the vehicle after the third repair. While severity is somewhat reduced, the shudder, binding, and lurching during turning persists. This is not a minor clicking noise as some owners have reported — the vehicle lurches and bangs enough to affect steering control. During a test drive, the foreman acknowledged this was clearly a safety issue. The violent lurching during low-speed turns reduces driver control and steering predictability in parking lots, intersections, and residential areas where pedestrians are present. The abrupt jolting could cause a driver to instinctively brake or overcorrect. No warning lamps or DTCs were present during any failure. Symptoms are purely mechanical.
When you turn left or right, there a cracking sound from the front axel.
The Sound: A loud clicking, clunking, or "popping" noise coming from the front wheels. When it happens: It is most noticeable when turning the steering wheel (especially sharp turns at low speeds) or accelerating from a stop. The Issue: The Constant Velocity (CV) joints in the front axles may be defective or prone to premature wear.
I wanted to register a complaint on an issue we have experienced in our 2024 Honda Prologue EX Elite with the "CV axles." This vehicle was sold to us with like-new mileage and was also certified, pre-owned by Honda. Symptoms of the problem were knocking sounds heard from the lower, front section of the car when accelerating from a stop and turning at the same time. It was first noticed around 4000 miles and diagnosed by the local Honda dealer at around 7300 miles. Based on many blog postings about consumer experiences with this issue, I believe it would have been difficult for Honda to unknowingly sell this car with this as a design defect, and it does not have a fix other than replacing with the same part which is prone to failure. Again, this claim can be backed up by many other consumer postings which reference defective CV axles being replaced multiple times. We would have made a wiser decision on purchase selection and are now concerned about resale value of the car. We are asking for your help in a recall mandate after evaluating the problem for Honda Prologues and GM vehicles using the same platform.
Direct cause - Unknown. What I do know however was that the automatic emergency break system on my vehicle was activated, causing the vehicle to stop in the middle of driving. This resulted in the vehicle behind me hitting my car. Prior to the incident occurring, no warning indicators (lamps, messages, etc.) came from the dashboard. The vehicle just stopped. Immediately after this accident occurred. I turned off the forward collision safety feature, as I was scared of the issue (vehicle stopping) repeating itself. To date, my vehicle has not been repaired or my insurance agency contacted, as I do not believe I should be held responsible for the cost of this repair.
When I turn my Honda Prologue wheels to the right or left and accelerate (usually all the way/full turn, but not always), I will hear clicking. I understand this has been a previously reported CV Axle joint clicking issue that I am now experiencing on my car.
Vehicle is unable to charge. Dealer inspection confirmed damage to the charging coupler/receptacle. Charging port shows burn marks and electrical damage. Dealer recommended replacement of the drive motor battery charger receptacle. Vehicle has no diagnostic trouble codes. No accidents, no misuse, no aftermarket equipment. Failure occurred during normal home charging. Honda dealer and Honda USA denied warranty coverage. This defect prevents vehicle operation and presents potential electrical and fire safety risk.
When turning my vehicle I hear a clicking & cracking sound in the cv joints of the car. It happens in both directions. This can be a safety issue when driving if the axial or CV joints fail. It could put myself, my family & other people on the road in danger if this happens & the joints go out or fail. NO warning lights it just happened over time. the car has only 14000 miles at the time of this complaint.
Both my screen and dash are off which I’m unable to see my mph or any info on my dash
My 2024 Honda Prologue is experiencing ongoing drivetrain issues that include noise, vibration, clunking, and a binding sensation. These symptoms occur during turning, accelerating, and at low speeds. I brought the vehicle to the dealer, and they inspected it, but they told me there is no solution available yet and advised me to wait. The dealer has not replaced any parts, and the issue continues. At this time, I have not experienced loss of control or steering failure, but the symptoms are persistent and concerning. Based on widespread reports from other Prologue owners, this appears to be a developing pattern that may indicate a defect in the axle, driveshaft, CV joint, or related front‑end components. I am reporting this so NHTSA is aware of the issue and can investigate.
Clicking noise from CV joints when turning left and right at 7717 miles.
The cv joints on both sides are clicking
The CV joints are clicking on both sides of the vehicle
The CV joints are making a clicking noise now every time I turn and I’m starting to notice that there is some sticking when that happens. It would be available for inspection on request. Yes the dealer acknowledged the failure, but says the parts to fix it our back ordered and so has told me twice to just bring the car back at a later date. There are no warning lamps.
I was driving and both screens went completely black. Vehicle was charged to over 80%. I could not see speed or any other vehicle information on either screen. After about 5 seconds the screen above the steering wheel started to load back up and then the other screen followed.
Vehicle drive shaft makes clicking noise at the CV joint.
Vehicle makes a loud clicking noise and shake from front left - worse when turning. Dealer advised CV BOOT/Axle issue but will not fix.
High voltage system warning light came on dashboard, reduced acceleration occurred while driving today, 1/9/26. This is my second Vehicle Complaint form regarding High Voltage System failure. High Voltage Battery was replaced after first incident which occurred on 11/25/25, and car spent 37 days at dealership for diagnosis and high voltage battery replacement. Car is now back at dealership for diagnosis and possible 2nd high voltage battery replacement today, 1/9/26.
The digital instrument cluster (dashboard screen) and the infotainment screen went black while I was driving. This meant I was unable to see my MHP or any critical information on my car. I was listening to music and first it stopped, then a moment later both screens went black. This lasted for 30 seconds until one came on followed by the other.
On at least 3 occasions my car has braked automatically for no reason. Nobody was in front of me or behind me.
High voltage system error has flagged and been fixed multiple times starting in early January of 2026. Car randomly warns and breaks in the middle of the road because it sensed something that wasn’t there. Luckily no wrecks have occurred. Both CV joints have a loud clicking noise that the Honda dealerships knows about but has no fix for. I currently have an appointment for the dealership to look at my brake and high voltage system again.
CV Axles making clocking noise when turning left and right. Also, when driving above 60 MPH wheel vibrate and anf whole right side shaking. While dealership claiming it is not a safety concern, I am confident this vehicle should not drive on high way with this issue.
The automatic emergency barking system suddenly applies even when there are no obstructions. Happens regularly. I was almost rear-ended at a stop light by another vehicle because of the sudden application of the emergency braking system, even though there was nothing in front of me. Axel makes a loud cranking sound when making a right or let turn. Battery 'Service vehicle now' warning consistently comes on with warning to reduce acceleration even when the vehicle is not in motion.
Loud clicking from both sides of the front CV joint. Dealer says there is nothing they can do but know of the problem. Says not to drive it as much.
Clicking noise when turning left signs of a failed CV joint
Loud clicking and thumping noises from area of wheel drive axles. This predominantly occurs when the front wheels are turned off center. Clicking in axles and loud thumping in the chassis are enhanced with acceleration.
Generally loud clanking/popping sounds coming from front axels when making turns
Excessive clicking and popping while turning wheels left or right. Ive been to the dealer to replace this going on two times now. Its clear its the axles (CV JOINTS). All of the forums say the same thing. Chevy co-produced this car and Honda was well aware of the problems the BLAZER EV has.My salesman said they are not aware of the problem but the service appointment scheduler said "if its a Prologue, plan on leaving it a while" Waiting for this to be a full blown recall.
When Turning to right and left there is rattling sounds mostly on slow turn. I brought to Honda dealership drive test it with their Tech. They said might be drive shaft or CV joints. But they did not fixed because they did see loose or bad since the car is new parts may not be available. yet they told I can still drive it . They said will report it and let the Honda motor company what to do on this issue they will me when they get response from the manufacturer. Today the rattling noise gradually increase. My concern is might worse or all a sudden will brake. Thank you for your time in reading my report. Best, 2024 Honda prologue Owner.
Turning at low speed, a low clicking sound comes from the front of the vehicle constantly.
Known issue with CV joints causing loud crunching/clicking sounds when turning
Clinking Noise When Turning
When making sharp turns, the vehicle makes a clicking sound. Honda indicates they are currently investing the issue but at this time does not have a solution. This issue has been ongoing since the vehicle was acquired in August 2024. The issue is worse when turning to the left, and during cold weather.
Driving at normal highway speed the antenna dislodged. Dealership claims it is damaged and not a defect.
Leased this car 1 year ago and it is currently in the repair shop for the 2nd time in a year for the same battery problem: battery won't charge and an error notice on the dashboard that says " Service high voltage system. Reduce acceleration. Drive with care". The first time the shop said that it was a software issue and fixed it. Now the shop is saying that the car needs a new battery. The error notice came up while I was on a road trip and I felt unsafe knowing that the battery could fail or combust while driving. Also, I did not feel safe having the reduced acceleration in effect while I was on the freeway where acceleration can be essential to match traffic and evade accidents.
While driving the car this evening, following a day of driving, the info tainment and dashboard screens went blank while on the highway. Pulled off at the first exit (30 miles down the road or so). Tried: - turning car off and on - turning off, opening drivers door for one minute, closing and restarting - the same, but waiting 5 min after opening and closing door - the same, but the using the remote lock to lock the car after closing the drivers door - holding down the radio power button for up to 2 min Drive finished by foijf slowly on local roads. No speed information. No warnings systems available.
When driving, frequent knocking sounds can be heard coming from the engine when at a stop to turn, and accelerate. The electrical system was faulty with the engine electrical system indicating problems- the heater shut off, so we had no heat during a 90-minute road trip. Tire pressure monitor indicates low tirepressure and seems unresponsive. I brought it in for service. The electrical system was fixed, but the tire pressure remained low, was noit addressed and return to me with all tires at 32psi. Maintenance person commented, " Sir, all I do is return the vehicle to you"... Please advise. Thank you 4900
The system does not reliably "see" pedestrians or cross traffic or often times will phantom brake when there are no obstacles viewable. I believe this is a substantial safety issue because the car will abruptly stop without warning and engage a parking brake, creating a delay before being able to vacate traffic. This has happened going forward, but more frequently in reverse. This appears to happen more during inclement weather or in the dark.
