I delivered my vehicle to a Honda dealership in July 2025. They inspected the vehicle and agreed to replace the fuel tank. Since then, I have been receiving notifications that the fuel tank is back ordered with no ETA. I am continuing to pay insurance registration for this vehicle and I’m unable to use it. I would suggest that at this point Honda needs to buy it back.
The contact owned a 2008 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated while her husband was driving at an undisclosed speed, the wheels got stuck in loose deep sand in a field. The husband drove the vehicle forward and backward attempting to get the vehicle unstuck. The contact stated that smoke and flames were coming from under the hood of the vehicle. The contact stated that the smoke and fire seemed to be a chemical fire. The contact stated that the fire and flames came from underneath the doors. The contact and her husband exited the vehicle safely. The contact stated that after exiting the vehicle, there was an explosion under the hood. The local Fire and Police Departments arrived on the scene. The Fire Department extinguished the fire. The contact was unsure if a Police or Fire report had been filed. The contact stated that no report information was provided at the scene. The contact stated that the vehicle was engulfed in flames within minutes. The contact stated that the vehicle was burned to the ground. The vehicle was left at the location of the fire. The contact stated that no medical attention was needed; however, while the contact was picking up coins her pinkie and index finger on her right hand were burned. The contact stated that the ammunition for the deer hunting trip was in the vehicle and exploded. The contact stated that personal items such as cell phones, purses, and other personal items were burned in the fire. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 156,000.

Hello, I own a 2008 Honda Ridgeline. The vehicle’s rear frame is corrode after exposure to road salt. The fuel tank might detach from the truck and cause a fire. I checked open recalls and nothing is currently open. I’m afraid of driving the vehicle due to this issue. Thank you
My 2008 Honda RIdgeline has a frame rusted to the point where it has been deemed unsafe to drive by my local Honda dealership and Honda USA. My 2008 Honda Ridgeline is PA titled and was involved in recall 22V-430 (NHTSA recall number) / 22-021 (Honda recall number). I took my truck into Wright Honda (Uniontown, PA) on June 2nd, 2023 for the 2006-2014 Ridgeline Rear Frame Repair Safety Recall. The truck is available for inspection, and Honda USA has several pictures of the frame problems that they evaluated. When Wright Honda performed the recall work, they informed me that the frame rust is so severe that it is not safe to drive and it will not pass inspection; they recommended that I tow it home (at my expense, which is what I had to do). I asked them if my truck might be considered for a buyback. They told me that Honda USA did request more pictures and that someone from Honda USA would be in touch with me. Basically, after speaking to a case manager and supervisor, Honda USA told me that the frame corrosion is my responsibility because they performed their recall. The Honda USA technician Eric (4605592) agreed that the frame rust is so bad that is should not be driven on a road. So although multiple parties at Honda agree that my frame rust is so severe that I can no longer drive the truck, and there is a recall regarding frame rust on my Ridgeline, Honda refuses to take responsibility and either replace the frame or buy it back. The recall was to prevent the gas tank from falling off and catching fire. I think it is equally important for Honda to take care of frames that may break while driving, killing everyone in the truck, when it is known that the frame corrosion is already a problem because of a Honda quality control issue.
The truck frame is extremely rusted. I can push my finger through multiple locations on the frame.
Driverside rear passenger window regulator failed. As I was putting the window down. It started crunching then stopped. I had to push the window up while using the power button, window will slowly drop on it own. I haven't had it replaced yet.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Ridgeline. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V430000 (Structure) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. Parts distribution disconnect.
While driving over railroad tracks, heard a huge thump, then scraping coming from underneath of carriage near rear seats. Today, when driving, I smelled gasoline when I opened the car door. Looked underneath carriage and a huge piece of metal has fallen down and my gas tank is pouring out gasoline onto the concrete. I had a full tank of gas in the car. There is gasoline dripping and pouring out of the undercarriage and is all over the undercarriage and the concrete driveway where I parked.

The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where they performed a punch test, and was informed that since the vehicle passed the test, they would not buy it back. The contact stated that while inspecting the vehicle, the mechanic was made aware that the fuel tank was corroded. The dealer stated that the fuel tank would not be inspected. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact called another local dealer, Bergstrom Honda (3285 S. Washburn St., Oshkosh, WI 54904; (800) 218-0193), and was informed that the manufacturer had closed the recall case and needed the manufacturer to reopen the recall case. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Ridgeline. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V430000 (Structure) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was contacted but was unable to confirm when parts would be available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Ridgeline. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V430000 (Structure) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the fuel tank mounting straps had separated from the frame, causing the fuel tank to rub against the driveshaft. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and recommended the contact purchase an aftermarket rear frame part for the replacement. The failure mileage was 160,761. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated while his wife was driving at 65 MPH, she heard an abnormal sound. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact's wife was able to drive to her residence. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while he was driving the vehicle. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact saw that the fuel tank had detached and was resting on the drive shaft. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact towed the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired as the parts were not available. The contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V430000 (Structure), which he associated with the failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time to complete the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000. The contact has stated that Honda has deemed the vehicle undriveable and has offered to buy it back. The contact stated that Honda has finally bought the vehicle back after 7 months of the vehicle being at the dealership.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who retrieved a failure code for resistance in front passenger’s side air bag inflator. The contact was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V501000 (Air Bags); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The local dealer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 183,000.
The contact owns a 2008 Honda Ridgeline. The contact stated that when he entered his driveway at a slow speed, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the rear end of the vehicle. Upon inspection, the contact saw that the rear subframe had detached from the vehicle without warning. The contact also discovered severe corrosion on the frame and subframe which he linked to the failure. The contact had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic where he was informed that he was uncertain if the vehicle could be repaired due to the amount of rust on the vehicle. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 141,000.

I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK IN JULY OF 2020 AND I JUST FOUND THAT IT HAS A UNSUSAL AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE TRUCK .
BODY RUST, VEHICLE HAS 66,000 MILES BUT IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF STRUCTURAL WEAKNESS DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST DAMAGE TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE.
ON SATURDAY DECEMBER 08,2018 @ 550PM I PULLED INTO PARKING SPOT AT SUPERMARKET AND LEFT MY 2008 RIDGELINE RUNNING WHILE I WENT INTO SUPERMARKET ABOUT 15 MINUTES ,AND WHEN I RETURNED TRANSMISSION FLUID AND ANTIFREEZE AND DRAINED OUT MY RIDGELINE ONTO GROUND AND RIDELINE WOULD NOT GO INTO DRIVE. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME.
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HONDA RIDGELINE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V061000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE DEALER (BILL PEARCE COURTESY HONDA, 780 KIETZKE LN, RENO, NV 89502, 775-789-7999) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT PARTS FOR THE RECALL REMEDY WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD GET BACK IN TOUCH WITH THE CONTACT, BUT THE CONTACT HAD NOT HEARD FROM THEM. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE BLOWER MOTOR MELTED BEHIND THE CENTER LOWER DASH AREA AT A CONNECTION POINT.THE VEHICLE HAD JUST BEEN STARTED AND THE A/C WOULD NOT COME ON. THE A/C CAME ON BRIEFLY THE NEXT DAY AND THEN FAILED AGAIN AND HAS NOT COME BACK ON. INVESTIGATION OF THE WIRING CAME UP WITH MELTED POINT OF CONTACT. THIS COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED A FIRE AND WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE YEARS PRIOR TO 2008.
FITTING FAILURE OF TRANSMISSION LINE CONNECTION AT RADIATOR, CAUSING DAMAGE TO COOLING SYSTEM AND TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE IS RENDERED INOPERABLE. SUSPECTED CAUSE IS POORLY DESIGNED RADIATOR FITTING.
WIRING HARNESS FOR AC AND HEATER NOT WORKING. RECALL WAS DONE TO HONDA VEHICLES UP TOO 2007 WITH SAME PROBLEM. INTERMITTING PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING AND STATIONARY.
JUST DRIVING ALONG @ 20MPH THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO HESITATE THEN START SLIPPING. LUCKY ENOUGH TO LIMP HOME 1 MILE AWAY FROM WHERE IT STARTED. TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS POURING OUT OF THE RADIATOR OVERFLOW CONTAINER. I HAD NO TRANSMISSION FLUID SHOWING ON DIPSTICK. ENGINE OIL WAS NORMAL. I REPLACED THE RADIATOR AS I SAW COUNTLESS PEOPLE ONLINE WITH SAME ISSUE. THE TRANS LINE INSIDE THE RADIATOR RUPTURED PUTTING INTO CIRCULATION THE COOLANT/TRANS FLUID MIXTURE THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE AND HEATER CORE. FORTUNATELY THIS TRANS FLUID MIXTURE WAS NOT BEING SUCKED BACK INTO THE TRANSMISSION, PURELY A MIRACLE IN THIS CASE. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT IS A FAULT IN ENGINEERING, AND NOT "IF" THIS WILL HAPPEN TO YOUR VEHICLE IS A MATTER OF WHEN. THIS CAR HAS 140K ON IT AND HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED, NO REASON FOR THIS FAILURE HAVE HAD CARS WITH 300K NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
I HAD MY RECALL DONE AT GUNN HONDA IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS IN JULY OF 2017. NOW I HAD A WRECK ON AUGUST 18, 2017, IT IS A TOTAL LOST. THAT WHAT IS GOING ON NOW YOU CAN CHECK WITH MY INSURANCE GEICO POLICY # 4126-49-54-82.
I HAVE NO BLOWER FAN TO WORK AC OR HEAT DEFROST WIRING MAYBE UNDER RATED GUAGE SIZE

"TAKATA RECALL" I HAD SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH BOB HOWARD HONDA , EDMOND OKLAHOMA TO GET THE FAULTY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG REPLACED, I HAD CALLED THEM ALMOST TWO MONTHS AGO AND BACK THEN , GARY MILLICAN ( SERVICE REP ) HAD PROMISED ME THAT I WOULD BE PROVIDED A LOANER OR RENTAL CAR REIMBURSEMENT. AFTER THAT CONVERSATION, I WAS ASSUMING THAT A PART WOULD HAVE BEEN ORDERED SPECIFICALLY FOR MY VEHICLE. I HAVE TRIED TO MINIMIZE ANYONE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SIDE EVER SINCE THE RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED IN THE MAIL. AFTER I HAD INITIATED THE REQUEST, THE ACCOUNTABILITY WAS SQUARELY WITH BOB HOWARD HONDA TO GET BACK TO ME AFTER THE PART WAS RECEIVED. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. LAST WEEK, I SET UP AN APPOINTMENT WITH THEM SPECIFICALLY STATING THAT THE I WOULD BE BRINGING IN MY VEHICLE ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 6, 2016 TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG. I GOT A APPOINTMENT CONFIRMATION AS WELL AS A REMINDER. WHEN I WENT IN, THE SERVICE ADVISOR , LOGAN TOLD ME THAT THE PART WASN'T IN STOCK AND HE WILL HAVE TO ORDER IT. WHEN I ASKED HIM THAT IF I COULD GET A LOANER OR A RENTAL REIMBURSEMENT ( MY PRIMARY CONCERN WAS THAT MY WIFE IS 4 MONTHS PREGNANT AND I WANTED TO REDUCE ANY CHANCE OF THE FAULTY PART CAUSING HARM TO HER AS WELL AS THE UNBORN CHILD ). BUT I WAS TOLD THAT HONDA POLICY IS NOT TO PROVIDE EITHER AS IT JUST AFFECTED THE PASSENGER SIDE. I WOULD HAVE NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO SEEK LEGAL HELP IN THIS TOTAL LACK OF SERIOUSNESS ON HONDA'S PART. WHEN A VEHICLE IS SOLD, IT ISN'T SOLD AS A MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION JUST FOR ONE PERSON ( THE DRIVER ). IF ITS UNDRIVEABLE WITH A PASSENGER , IT SHOULD BE DEEMED UNDRIVEABLE. HONDA CANNOT SHIRK AWAY FROM THE RESPONSIBILITY OF COMPENSATING CUSTOMERS FOR ALTERNATIVE METHODS OF TRANSPORTATION WHEN THEIR INITIAL CONTRACT OF PROVIDING A SAFE VEHICLE WASN'T ADHERED TO.
TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED A LETTER DATED MARCH 2016 FOR THE RECALL ON THE AIRBAG. ACCORDING TO THE LETTER, PARTS WERE GOING TO BE AVAILABLE IN SUMMER 2016. I CHECKED WITH THE DEALER TODAY 7/30/2016 AND THE DEALER TOLD ME HEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER THE PARTS. IT WILL BE ANOTHER 4-5 MONTHS FOR THE PARTS. I AM CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOPING I DO NOT GET IN AN CRASH WHERE THE AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED. WHY IS HONDA SENDING OUT LETTERS STATING SUMMER OF 2016 FOR PARTS AND THE DEALER IS SAYING 4-5 MONTHS BEFORE WE GET THE PARTS. NO HELP FROM THE DEALER AT ALL ON THIS.

TAKATA RECALL - I OWN 2 HONDAS THAT ARE BOTH UNDER RECALL AT THE SAME TIME FOR THE SAME ISSUES. I HAVE REQUESTED A RENTAL FROM HONDA DUE TO FEAR FOR MY LIFE AND THE LIFE OF MY PASSENGERS. THEY TOLD ME TO NOT LET SOMEONE RIDE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. WHICH MEANS I CAN ONLY TRANSPORT 4 PEOPLE INSTEAD OF 5 THAT THE CAR IS SUPPOSE TO SAFELY TRANSPORT. I BOUGHT THIS AUTOMOBILE TO TRANSPORT 5 PEOPLE SAFELY. HONDA IS TELLING ME I CAN'T TRANSPORT 5 PEOPLE SAFELY UNTIL THIS IS FIXED. HONDA NEEDS TO PROVIDE ME WITH SAFE TRANSPORTATION FOR 5 PEOPLE UNTIL THEY CAN FIX THIS CAR TO TRANSPORT 5 PEOPLE SAFELY. MY COMPLIANT IS HONDA IS NOT PROVIDING ME WITH MY CAR OR ANOTHER CAR TO TRANSPORT 5 PEOPLE SAFELY WHICH IS WHAT I PURCHASED FROM THEM.
