ON MY HYUNDAI ACCENT I HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION THREE TIMES AND NOW IT IS ABOUT TO BE A FORTH TIME AND I HAVE ONLY HAD IT FOR A YEAR AND A HALF. THE TRANSMISSION WILL GO UP TO 55-65 MILES AN HOUR AND THEN WINE REALLY BADLY AND THEN SHAKE BAD TO. THIRD TIME TO HAPPEN . I BELIEVE WITH THE LEMON LAWS THEY OWE ME A NEW CAR. *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH ON OCTOBER 7, 2003 THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE OCCUPANT OF CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT BUT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONSUMER'S CHILD WAS SEVERELY INJURED BUT THE OCCUPANT OF THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS NOT INJURED. *AK *NLM
WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 60-65MPH, THE VEHICLE JERKED VIOLENTLY AND DOWN SHIFTED INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. SCC
VEHICLE LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 55 MPH, DEALER NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE TRANSMISSION.*AK. CONSUMER STATED VEHICLE HAS LOCKED UP 3 TIMES PREVIOUSLY.*JB
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 65MPH ON HIGHWAY AND NOTICED THAT VEHICLE WAS SWINGING LEFT TO RIGHT. SHE HEARD A NOISE, THEN LEFT AND RIGHT AXLES BROKE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED. *AK
HAD JUST OPENED PASSENGER'S SIDE REAR DOOR WHEN THE HINGE BROKE OFF AND THE DOOR SWUNG FORWARD AND HIT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR, CAUSING DAMAGE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, AND MECHANIC WOULD NOT REPAIR THE DAMAGE. INFORMED CONSUMER OF THE NEED TO TAKE VEHICLE TO A BODY SHOP FOR REPAIRS. *AK *SLC
CONSUMER IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH WINDOWS. WIDOWS TEND TO RATTLE. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER CAN'T FIX PROBLEM.*AK
VEHICLE FAILS TO SHIFT APPROPRIATELY, WHEN SHIFTING IN DIFFERENT GEARS THERE'S A VIOLENT SLAM, THEN VEHICLE SHAKES. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP ENGINE WOULD REV UP BUT TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT. WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO OVERDRIVE. PH
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION FEELS LIKE IT GOES INTO A NEUTRAL STATE AS SOON AS TRANSMISSION IS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. PH
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH A FIRE STARTED IN DASHBOARD ,UNDERNEATH STEERING BOX. POSSIBLY A TOTAL LOSS.*AK
MY CAR 1ST STARTED SMOKING FROM THE DASHBOARD AND LATER A FIRE PROCEEDED AND I HAVE BEEN TRYING GET THE ISSUE RESOLVED SINCE 12/8 AND I STILL HAVE NO CAR AND MY CAR HAS NOT BEEN FIX AND HYUNDAI DENIED MY CLAIM STATED IT WAS NOT A FACTORY DEFECT AND I PURCHASED THE EXTENDED 5 YEAR WARRENTY TOTALING 10 YEAR WARRENTY THEY CANT EVEN GIVE ME AN EXPLAINATION OF WHAT HAPPEN ALL THEY DID WAS WRITE ME A LETTER DENYING MY CLAIM. *AK
HAD CAR REPAIRED OR SO THOUGHT/STARTED DRIVING AND CAR'S GEAR SHIFT ISN'T WHERE IT SHOULD BE AND CAR IS RUNNING VERY ROUGH. *AK
MY TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED 7 TIMES AND REPLACED 4. IT IS STILL PRESENTLY SLIPPING. THE FACTORY REP. WAS OF NO HELP HOWEVER, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT COLLEGE PARK HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY POLITE AND UNDERSTANDING. SAM CARLIN, JIM THOMAS, AND JEFF PELERUZZI. DISPITE ALL THAT HAS BEEN DONE MY CAR DOES NOT AND HAS NOT RUN RIGHT. MIGHT I SAY ALSO THAT I GOT MY OIL CHANGE AND BECAUSE IT WAS DONE IMPROPERLY MY ENGINE BLOW IN THE MIDDLE OF ROUTE 50. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO PAY FOR MY LOSE AND SUFFERING.*AK
WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35MPH & STARTED TO APPLY BRAKES. HAD NO BRAKES & REARENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AT STOP LIGHT. UPON IMPACT WITH OTHER VEHICLE, AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. ALSO, PRETENSIONER IN THE SEAT BELTS FAILED TO RESTRAIN DRIVER WHOSE HEAD HIT WINDSHIELD. DRIVER WAS HOSPITALIZED. *AK
WHENEVER VEHICLE HAS SHIFTED INTO GEAR IT WOULD STALL OUT. HAVE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MECHANIC CHECK IT OUT. *AK CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE HAS TO BE WARMED IN THE SUMMER AND WINTER OR IT WILL STALL, DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE. *SLC
TWO REAR SEAT BELTS ON EACH SIDE WHEN FULLY EXTENDED WILL RETRACT AND LOCK, NOT ALLOWING PASSENGERS TO MOVE. NEEDED TO REALEASE THE BELTS, AND THEN RESET AGAIN.*AK
IN SNOW, ICY OR WET ROAD CONDITIONS THIS UNPREDICTABLE LOSS OF RPM'S AND POWER TRAIN RESPONSE MAKES CAR HANDLING AND CONTROL VERY DIFFICULT. WE ARE AWARE OF OTHER COMPLAINTS LOGGED ON AUTO FORUMS IN THE USA AND THAT IS WHY WE ARE REPORTING THIS TO DRAW ATTENTION TO A POTENTIALLY MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM. WE HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE IN FOR WARRANTY REPAIR 8 TIMES OVER 10 MONTHS. THEY SAY THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM, YET THERE ARE OTHER INTERNET REPORTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY SAY THEY CANNOT FIX IT, WHICH MEANS, DIFFICULT TO CONTROL CARS ARE ON THE ROAD. WE HOPE THIS HELPS THE US CONSUMERS IDENTIFY THIS PROBLEM IN AN IMPORT VEHICLE IN YOUR COUNTRY. *AK
THE MAIN HOOD LATCH FAILED WHILE THE CAR WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 45MPH. THE SECONDARY LATCH ALSO FAILED (THE SPRING HOLDING THE LATCH IN PLACE WAS NEVER ENGAGED) AND THE HOOD BLEW OPEN, FOLDED BACK AND SMASHED THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. NEITHER THE DRIVER OR THE TWO PASSENGERS WERE INJURED, HOWEVER BOTH THE DRIVER AND THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER WERE SHOWERED WITH GLASS. POLICE DID RESPOND TO THE SCENE AND DETERMINED THAT IT WAS THE LATCH SYSTEM THAT FAILED. THE HOOD HAS NOT BEEN OPENED EXCEPT BY THE DEALER WHEN THE CAR WAS PURCHASED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, HAD A DIRECT FRONTAL IMPACT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE IN WHICH THE OTHER VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, BUT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, WHICH DID NOT PROTECT THE OCCUPANTS IN THIS CRASH. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
HAS ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENTS DUE TO INABILITY TO SHIFT INOT 1ST GEAR WHEN DECELERATING FROM 2ND GEAR. *AK
REPORTED PROBLEM TO HYUNDAI, THEY SAID THEY KNEW BUT CANNOT FIX IT.
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL 00V096000/ WINDSHIELD WIPERS. DEALER GAVE CONSUMER AN APPOINTMENT. HOWEVER, PARTS WERE NOT IN WHEN CONSUMER SHOWED UP. *AK
INTERMITTENTLY, THE HEADLIGHTS MALFUNCTION, WHICH MAY CAUSE VISUAL DIFFICULTY AND RESULT IN A CRASH. DEALER CANNOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON. I TOOK TO A HYUNDAI DEALER. THEY SAID I HAD A BAD RELAY SWITCH. THE FIXED IT. A FEW DAYS LATER I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY HAD PUSHED THE SWITCH BACK IN PLACE AND IT POPPED LOOSE. THEY THEN REPLACED THE SWITCH THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT FOR REPAIR AND I HAVEN'T HAD ANY PROBLEMS SINCE THEN.*AK
WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY IT WAS RAINING, TURNED ON WINDSHIELD WIPERS, AND THEN THEY STOPPED. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. CONTACTED DEALER, AND HE STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER LINKAGE CAME LOOSE FROM THE WIPER MOTOR. *AK
INITIALLY, THE SHIFT WOULD "GET STUCK" BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. THEY KEPT TAKING THE CAR BACK, SAYING THEY WERE GOING TO "LOOK AT IT" OR "WE FOUND A LITTLE PART AND FIXED IT"..THIS WENT ON UNTIL THEY STATED THEY PUT IN A NEW TRANSMISSION. WHEN THIS DID NOT HELP, THEY SAID THEY COULD NO LONGER DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THE PROBLEM COULD NOT "DUPLICATED" FOR THEM. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED FOR MONTHS. I CAME CLOSE TO HAVING AN ACCIDENT WHEN I COULDN'T GET INTO REVERSE ONE TIME, TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC. I CONTINUED TO STAY IN TOUCH...THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING, BECAUSE THEY NEVER COULD FIND THE PROBLEM. THEY FINALLY CALLED ME A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND ADMITTED THAT HYUNDAI HAD SENT THEM SOME INFO ABOUT A PROBLEM WITH SHIFTING IN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR, AND THAT THEY COULD FIX IT. WE TOOK THE CAR BACK. THEY "FIXED" IT SO WELL THAT WHEN I GOT IT HOME, IT WOULD "POP" FROM FIFTH GEAR TO NEUTRAL WHILE I WAS DRIVING...THEY TOOK IT BACK, "FIXED IT AGAIN"...SAID IT WAS A "WORN NUT" OR SOMETHING. NOW THE CAR MAKES A "CHAIN TYPE SOUND" AND BUMPS WHILE IN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR...THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT TEN TIMES OVER THE PAST FIVE DAYS. THEY SAID THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY CAN'T "DUPLICATE" THE PROBLEM....PLEASE HELP...I MIGHT BE DEAD BEFORE THE PROBLEM IS EVER "DUPLICATED" TO THESE PEOPLE....THEY WON'T KEEP THE CAR LONG ENOUGH TO FIX IT. I THINK THEY FEEL IT'S "OUR PROBLEM."*AK
WHILE DRIVING 62 MPH VEHICLE STARTED ACCELERATING UP TO A SPEED OF 85 MPH, AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK. AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO, VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN REALLY FAST, AND DRIVER WAS ABLE TO PUT ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE CLUTCH BROKE AND HIT THE TRANSMISSION CASING WHICH CRACKED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
ACCELERATOR STUCK AS MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR. NO DAMAGE JUST A SCARED KID. COULD HAVE BEEN MAJOR IF SHE HAD BEEN IN TRAFFIC. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE PART AND WAS VERY GOOD ABOUT IT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING VEHICLE NOT TO CHANGE GEARS. CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK

WHILE TRYING TO LOCK CSS INSIDE VEHICLE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT LOCK INTO PLACE . DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR ITS STILL THE SAME, CLUTCH WILL NOT ALLOW SHIFTER INTO SECOND GEAR REPLACED 3 TIMES *AK
HINGES ON HOOD HAVE CRACKED, CAUSING HOOD TO ONLY OPEN 6 INCHES. DEALER SAYS WHOLE HOOD ASSEMBLY HAS TO BE REPLACED.*AK
10 - 12 MILE PER HOUR WINDS CAN BLOW THIS VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. THIS VEHICLE IS TOO LIGHT. SEMI-TRUCKS PASSING, CAN PUSH YOU OFF THE ROAD. *JG
WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKES FAILED TO WORK PROPERLY. THE CONSUMER CAN HEAR A LOUD CLICKING WHEN MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN. UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES THE ENGINE LOCKED AND SPUN OUT OF CONTROL. ALSO, THE BRAKE PEDAL IS VERY HARD TO PUSH DOWN. THE TIRES GET VERY HOT. TOOK TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND PROBLEM IS STILL NOT RESOLVED.. NLM
ANOTHER VEHICLE TURNED IN FRONT OF CONSUMER'S VEHICLE AND CAUSED CONSUMER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT AN ICE BANK. CONSUMER STATED THE CHEMICALS IN THE AIR BAG WERE SO STRONG, SHE COULD HARDLY BREATH. *JB
THE VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR THE PCV VALVE AND HOSE (RECALL # 01V-346000) BUT THE PARTS HAVE NOT BEEN AVAILABLE FOR THE PAST SIX MONTHS. *NLM *TS
WHILE SITTING IN THE VEHICLE AT A LIGHT ENGINE BEGAN TO REV UP, AS IF IT WAS GOING TO TAKE OFF. CONSUMER HAD TO HOLD FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO AVOID A SUDDEN TAKE OFF. *AK
CONSUMER CALLED COMPLAINING ABOUT CLUTCH HAVING TO BE REPLACED APPROXIMATELY EVERY 5000 MILES.VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHOW ANY WARNING, IT WOULD JUST STOP.MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE CONTACTED, AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE.*AK
