HYUNDAI 5 SPEED SHUTS ITS ENGINE OFF AFTER 30 MINS OF DRIVING ON A FREEWAY AND HAZARDOUS TO DRIVER, THEN STEERING LOCKS UP AFTER ENGINE STOPS BUT CAR STILL ROLLS WITH ELECTRONICS STILL ON. *TR
MY CARS FUEL TANK IS NOW GIVING ME PROBLEMS. WHEN I PULL UP TO THE PUMP GET GAS THE CAR SAYS ITS EMPTY BUT WHEN FUELING THE CAR CONSTANTLY CLICKS SAYING ITS FULL. I HAVE TO KEEP TAKING THE PUMP IN AND OUT OF THE CAR TO RESEAL IT THEN TRY AGAIN AND AGAIN AND MOST TIMES AGAIN. WHEN THE GAS ATTENDANTS SEE WHAT CAR I OWN AND THE TROUBLE I HAVE THEY SAY ITS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH HYUNDAI'S IN GENERAL AND DOES NOT MATTER WHAT MODEL. IT'S VERY IRRITATING WHEN I CAN ONLY GET A FEW DOLLARS AT A TIME BECAUSE IT TAKES SO MUCH TIME. MY BROTHER IS A MECHANIC AND SAID HE GETS THESE ALL THE TIME. THERE HAS TO BE MORE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS. NOT SURE IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THIS PROBLEM BUT I DID RESEARCH THE DATABASE HERE AND DID NOT FIND ANY RECALLS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WHEEL BROKE. THE WHEEL BROKE ALONG THE BOTTOM OF ALL THE HOLES IN THE RIM. WE REPLACED THE RIM. ON 9/17/2011 THE DRIVER FRONT SIDE BROKE IN THE SAME WAY. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HYUNDAI ACCENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHEN THE ENGINE ENGAGED INDEPENDENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WAS NOT IN THE IGNITION AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND ATTEMPTED TO INSERT THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT THEN DEPRESSED THE BRAKES AND WAS ABLE TO SIMULTANEOUSLY INSERT THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A COMPLAINT WAS FILED BUT NO OTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,126. UPDATED 06/17/11 *BF THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO INSERT THE KEY AND TURN TO THE ON AND OFF, BUT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED. UPDATED 08/05/11
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HYUNDAI ACCENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER 5MPH AND ABOVE, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS SUDDENLY STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS THEN CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT HE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND A INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE WINDSHIELD MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 181,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HYUNDAI ACCENT. ALMOST TWO MONTHS AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE FAILED TO START. ALL OF THE INDICATORS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AND HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. SHE CALLED THE MANAGER AT THE DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AND WAS ADVISED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FULLY IN THE PARK POSITION. SHE PLACED THE GEAR FROM PARK INTO DRIVE AND THEN BACK INTO THE PARK GEAR. THE ENGINE WAS FINALLY ABLE TO START. SHE BELIEVES THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE SHE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO MOVE HER GEARS AROUND NUMEROUS TIMES TO START THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAS AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 84,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HYUNDAI ACCENT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH IN A LIGHT, RAINY DRIZZLE, THE CONTACT HEARD A STRANGE NOISE WHEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE ACTIVATED. THE WIPERS FAILED TO OPERATE. THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 00V096000 (VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER;LINKAGES), ALTHOUGH THE FAILURES WERE IDENTICAL. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
BOTH REAR DOORS WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE HANDLES ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THEY BOTH FAILED DURING NORMAL OPERATION.. THE LEFT SIDE CHILD LOCK IS ENGAGED AND WILL NOT WORK AT ALL. THIS DEFECT IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AND THE MANUFACTURE IS REFUSING TO ACCEPT IT AS A DEFECT. *TR
ON JUNE 17 2008 AT 445PM, MY DAUGHTER WAS RETURNING HOME FROM SCHOOL IN HER 2000 HYUNDAI ONJ THE NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY190 NORTH,SHE WAS INVOLVED IN A CHAIN REACTION ACCIDENT,HER CAR REARENDED A VEHICLE,AND THE IMPACT TOTALED HER CAR. THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY SHE WAS INJURED BRUISING AND WHIPLASH,I CALLED HYUNDAI HEADQUARTERS AND ASKED IF THEY WANTED TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE TO ESTABLISH WHY THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS REP CAROLYN B HARVEY SENT ME A FORM LETTER SAYING THEY WERE INTERESTED I N EXAMINING THE VEHICLE , I ASKED IF THE VEHICLE COULD BE SENT TO A DEALER , I WAS INFORMED THEY WOULD BUT THERE WOULD BE A CHARGE OF 40 DOLLARS A DAY, AND THE PROCESS WOULD TAKE 4 TO 6 WEEKS, PLEASE ADD MY COMPLAINT TO YOUR FILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HYUNDAI ACCENT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH IN THE RAIN, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO ACTIVATE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE DISCONNECTED AT THE BALL JOINT AND MOTOR. THE FAILURE IS IDENTICAL TO THE ONE MENTIONED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 00V096000 (VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER:LINKAGES). THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 112,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HYUNDAI ACCENT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECREASE IN SPEED YET THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR SPORADICALLY AND THE CONTACT WOULD SLIGHTLY DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL AUTOMOTIVE FACILITY WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED OF A POTENTIAL RECALL (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 01V346000- VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) AND TO HAVE THE DEALER INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER VERIFIED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND PROVIDED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 75,650. UPDATED 01/18/11 *BF UPDATED 03/02/11
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HYUNDAI ACCENT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LICENSE PLATE HOLDER ON THE VEHICLE HAD A DESIGN DEFECT. THE SCREWS THAT HELD THE BOLTS IN PLACE WERE LOCATED ON THE INSIDE OF THE BUMPER WHICH WAS INACCESSIBLE WITHOUT TAKING THE BUMPER OFF. THE SCREWS EVENTUALLY RUSTED, AND WHEN THEY NEEDED TO BE REMOVED THEY BROKE OFF IN THE HOLE, WHICH MADE IT NECESSARY FOR A MECHANIC TO REPAIR AT A COST UPWARDS OF $100.00. CHANGING GEARS WHEN THE GEAR SHIFT LET GO . I HAD NO MORE GEARS COULDN'T DRIVE. TURNS OUT THE SHIFTER ROD GOES INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND IS HELD IN PLACE WITH A SHEAR PIN. SHEAR PIN BROKE I HAD TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION PINS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BREAK ACCORDING TO A HYUNDAI MECHANIC. BUT LATELY THEY HAVE HAD A FEW VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. IT COST ME 900 BECAUSE OF A PIN THAT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BREAK. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING . JUNK! JUST OVER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY AND JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING YOU CAN IMAGINE WENT WRONG. THE GAS GAUGE DOES NOT WORK. THE EXHAUST BROKE APART ON THE FLEX PIPE. IT'S ALL ONE PIECE AND COSTS $850 JUST FOR PARTS. ONE OUT OF TWO O2 SENSORS ARE BAD AT $200 A POP! FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS WENT; ONE SEIZED UP AND ONE WAS WOBBLING LOOSE AT $200 EACH. FRONT AND REAR BRAKES BOTH WENT AT ONCE, ROTORS AND ALL. ALTERNATOR ALSO WENT BAD WHICH LEAD TO NEW BATTERY. GAS MILEAGE WENT DOWN TO 28 MPG. EVERYTHING HAS BEEN MAINTAINED ON A REGULAR BASIS AND I'M STILL LOSING GAS MILEAGE. OVER ALL I THINK I HAVE PAID FOR THIS CAR AT LEAST TWICE!. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATES THERE IS NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 01V346000 CONCERNING THE VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL. THIS VEHICLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL, BUT IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT AS A RESULT OF THE DEFECT AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. REGULAR DRIVER , REPORTED TRANSMISSION ACTING UP, SHIFTING ERRATICALLY,DOWNSHIFT HARD. CAR JERK FORWARD AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. SERVICED OCTOBER 17 AT COST $ 560.97. IN DEALERS INVOICE THE FOLLOWING ITEMS WERE NOTED: "FAILED TRANS RANGE SWITCH; FAILED TRANS PULSE GENERATORS;SCAN FOR CODES=P0700 TR SWITCH-SHORT;P0722 OUTPUT SPD (PG-B)OPEN/SHORT. THE SAME INVOICE REPORTED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL AND CONDITION WERE POOR". AFTER 3 WEEKS WHILE ON INTERSTATE 90 TRYING TO ACCELERATE ABOVE 50 MPH DAUGHTER REPORTS CAR STRAINED BUT COULD NOT GET INTO A HIGHER GEAR. "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AGAIN. SAME PROBLEMS. FAILURE TO ACCELERATE FOR MERGING SAFETY HAZARD .STOPPED DRIVING VEHICLE. TOOK CAR TO LOCAL GARAGE FOR SECOND OPINION. MECHANIC REPORTED :TRANSMISSION 1-2 SHIFT IS OK BUT 2-3 SHIFTS ARE VERY LATE AND ERRATIC. TRANSMISSION HAS HARD DOWNSHIFTS AND STARTS OUT IN SECOND AT TIMES. TRANSMISSION FLUID IS TWO QUARTS OVER-FILLED AND IS DARK. TRANSMISSION FLUID STINKS, LIKE LOTS OF ADDITIVE HAS BEEN ADDED. TRANSMISSION IS VERY NOISY WHEN IN PARK AND NEUTRAL AND HAS A GRINDING NOISE. GOES AWAY IN REVERSE. PASSED INFORMATION TO HYUNDAI'S DEALER NOVEMBER 9. ASKED TO BRING CAR IN. NOVEMBER 11 PHONE CALL FROM DEALER WHO SAID TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. NEW TRANSMISSION COST $ 2,200. CORRESPONDED WITH BOTH HYUNDAI'S CALIFORNIA HEADQUARTERS AND DEALER AND ASKED TO TAKE CARE PARTICULARLY SINCE MILEAGE ON ODOMETER WAS JUST BELOW 60,000 MILES. DEALER REFUSED AND ARGUED 2ND OWNER WARRANT EXPIRED AFTER 60 MONTHS. HAVE NOT HEARD FROM HYUNDAI RENEWED DEMAND . ALSO DEMANDED HYUNDAI TO ADVISE, BASIS THEIR RECORDS, WHETHER MOTOR VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECTIFIED FOR DEFECTS WHICH WERE THE SUBJECT OF SEVERAL TSB'S. I HAVE A HYUNDAI ACCENT 2000 3 DOOR HATCHBACK IN MAY HAD TO HAVE THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM FLUSHED OUT $500 CALLED HYUNDAI BEFORE I REPAIRED SAID THAT ITEM WAS NOT PART OF A CURRENT CAMPAIGN FOR MY VIN NUMBER HOWEVER SIMILAR PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN REPORTED BY NUMEROUS PARTIES. AUGUST 1, 2005 THREE DAYS AFTER ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE ENDED CAR DIED DEFECTIVE O2 SENSOR MELTED THE SHROUD, EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER, ALSO ENGINE COIL REPAIRS SO FAR 1500 (HYUNDAI SAYS PARTS AREN'T UNDER WARRANTY ANY MORE) NOW THE COMPUTER IS BAD ON THE PHONE WITH HYUNDAI TECH SUPPORT FOR THREE HOURS TESTING, THEY GAVE UP NEVER CALLED BACK, HYUNDAI SAID NOT THEIR PROBLEM. CURRENTLY I HAVE NO VEHICLE AND IT WILL COST 250 TO TOW TO HYUNDAI DEALER ABOUT 60 MILES AWAY HYUNDAI WILL NOT PAY FOR THE TOWING EVEN THOUGH CAR HAS SAFETY DEFECTS/RECALLS THAT NEED TO BE FIXED. SO I GUESS I AM BETTER OFF WITHOUT MY HYUNDAI THEN DRIVING AROUND MY TWO CHILDREN IN A DEATH TRAP. *JB
FRONT END CAR ACCIDENT AT 70 MPH DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *NM
WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH DRIVER'S FRONT TIRE BLEWOUT. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. DRIVER TRIED TO RESTART VEHICLE BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO DO SO. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK
CONSUMER HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD ON, RESULTING IN MAJOR FRONT END DAMAGE. UPON IMPACT, BOTH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND TOTALED. *AK.......*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE DID NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY. AS A RESULT, SPEED DECREASED THEN SUDDENLY VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD. *AK THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING NOW FOR 50 DAYS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TC
WE WERE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ALONG AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS OR ANYTHING, THE VEHICLE DIED. WHEN WE OPENED THE HOOD, ANTIFREEZE HAD SPRAYED EVERYWHERE. WE HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER AS REQUESTED BY THE WARRANTY COMPANY. IT TOOK WEEKS FOR THE WARRANTY REP TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS ALSO A CRACK IN THE TOP OF THE RADIATOR. THE SHOP FIRST TOLD US THAT WE CAUSED THE CRACK BY BEING INVOLVED IN A COLLISION - WHICH NEVER TOOK PLACE. THE WARRANTY COMPANY WANTED A TEAR DOWN OF THE ENGINE (WHICH WE ENDED UP HAVING TO PAY FOR) AND DECIDED TO DENY OUR CLAIM. THEY STATED THAT WE ALLOWED THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT ONCE THE THERMOSTAT (A WARRANTY COVERED ITEM) FAILED. WE HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING OF THE THERMOSTAT PROBLEM AND NO WARNING LIGHTS EVER CAME ON AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE STAYED WITHIN NORMAL RANGE UNTIL THE VEHICLE DIED. WE STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WAY FOR US TO KNOW ABOUT THE THERMOSTAT AND THOUGHT THAT PERHAPS THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THE WARRANTY COMPANY STATED THAT SINCE THE REP TURNED IT ON AND IT WENT TO THE TOP THAT IT WORKED FINE...WRONG B/C IT DIDN'T WORK AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. HOWEVER, THE WARRANTY COMPANY PAID FOR THE RADIATOR REPLACEMENT (WHICH WAS ONLY CAUSED BY THE THERMOSTAT GOING BAD). WHY WOULD THEY PAY FOR THE SECONDARY DAMAGE WITHOUT PAYING FOR THE ORIGINAL CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM - THE THERMOSTAT AND TEMP GAUGE. IN THE END, WE HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE ON OUR OWN - BUT WITH THE WARRANTY COMPANY'S RADIATOR. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT I BOUGHT A WARRANTY FOR PURPOSES LIKE THIS AND YET WAS NOT TREATED FAIRLY NOR GIVEN A PROPER EXPLANATION.*AK
THE CONSUMER WAS CHECKING THE OIL UNDER THE HOOD WHEN THE HOOD FELL DOWN ONTO HIS HEAD. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. *AK *NM
RECALL 00V096 000 CONCERNING WINDSHIELD WIPER ASSEMBLY. THE FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPER ON DRIVER'S SIDE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FAIL TO OPERATE OR GET ENTANGLED WHILE OPERATING. CONSUMER BELIEVED THIS PROBLEM RELATED TO THIS RECALL. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, AND DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER THAT RECALL REPAIRS WERE DONE. ANY OTHER REPAIRS WOULD BE AT CONSUMER'S EXPENSE. *AK
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING 20 MPH AND WAS STRUCK BY A TRUCK, CAUSING THE VEHICLE SPIN AROUND, AND WAS STRUCK AGAIN. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER SUSTAINED MULTIPLE INJURES, AND WAS TAKEN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED.*AK
WINDSHILED CONTROL ARM ON STEERING WHEEL BROKE IN HALF WHILE ACTIVATING WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID. THIS HAS OCCURED 2 TIMES. THIS HAPPENED ONCE ON MY SON'S SAME MODEL FOR YEAR 2001

FOR MORE THAN TWO YEARS I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING TO MY DC-AREA HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP THAT MY CAR IS BURNING OR LEAKING OIL BUT THEY FAILED TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM, APPARENTLY TO AVOID FIXING IT UNDER THE WARRANTY. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR ME TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE BUT HYUNDAI WILL NOT HONOR ITS MUCH HYPED WARRANTY AND FIX MY CAR AND EVEN THE DISTRICT OFFICE INSISTS THAT I KEEP DRIVING IT FOR ITS THIRD AND *UNNECESSARY* OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. PREVIOUSLY MY ENGINE FAILED LEAVING ME STRANDED IN THE UTAH DESERT FOLLOWING WORK ON MY CAR BY TWO OTHER HYUNDAI DEALERS TO AVOID FIXING MY CAR BEFORE ITS FIRST WARRANTY PERIOD EXPIRED. HYUNDAI LIES ABOUT ITS WARRANTY: IT PROMISES THE WORLD ON TV ADS AND RENEGES IN PRIVATE.
I BOUGHT MY ACCENT IN 2001 AT 1 YEAR OLD, IT HAD 11,000 MILES ON IT. IT NOW HAS LESS THAN 30,000 ON IT. YOU ADVERTISE 100,000 MILES. YOU DON'T SAY IT IS THE DRIVER YOU WARRANTY. I NOW SEEM TO HAVE A LOT OF THINGS WRONG WITH MY CAR THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FOUND WHEN I HAD MY CHECK UP IN THE SPRING. I HAVE A HYUNDAI ACCENT GL MODEL 2000. THE VEHICLE HAS RUN SO FAR 44000 MILES. I TRAVEL EVERY DAY ON FREEWAY 405 FOR MY WORK FROM NORTHRIDGE TO CULVER CITY. THIS CAR HAS CHRONIC POWER PROBLEMS. EVEN WHEN I PRESS THE GAS, CAR DOES NOT PICK UP AS EXPECTED. IN OTHER WORDS, THE CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN SMOOTHLY. I HAVE REPORTED THIS MATTER MANY TIME TO HYUNDAI DEALERS AND THEY DO NOT SEEMS TO BE SERIOUS IN ATTENDING TO THIS PROBLEM. THEY HAVE INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS THE OPERATIONAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS VEHICLE. AS I AM REQUIRED TO CONSTANTLY APPLY PRESSURE ON THE GAS, I HAVE DEVELOPED PAIN IN MY LEGS AND SHOULDERS. IT IS STRESSFUL TO CONCENTRATE ON THE FREE TRAFFIC WITH THIS PROBLEM IN THE VEHICLE. I REQUEST YOU TO HELP ME FIXING THIS PROBLEM FROM THE MANUFACTURERS. THANKS. *NLM
THE FUEL PUMP TUBE POPPED OFF FOR THE SECOND TIME, THE FUEL GAUGE WENT FROM 3/4 FULL TO EMPTY, AFTER 40 HOURS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE FUMIGATED, THERE WAS STILL A SMELL OF GAS IN THE VEHICLE. TS *JB

CONSUMER WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION AND APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD, AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE, DURING THIS ACCIDENT THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY, THE SEAT BELT ALSO FAILED TO PROPERLY RESTRAIN THE DRIVER AND AS A RESULT THE DRIVE WAS THROWN INTO THE WINDSHIELD SHATTERING IT, THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD. *AK *NLM

WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH AND WITHOUT ANY INDICATION, VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. SOON AFTER, SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. CONSUMER PULLED VEHICLE OVER, LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND ADDED WATER TO ENGINE, VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND REFUSED TO REPAIR VEHICLE DUE TO NO RADIATOR CAP. THE CAP WAS ON WHEN THE VEHICLE BLEW UP. *AK THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE ENGINE. THE WATER PUMP FROZE AND BURNED THE MOTOR. NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED TO INDICATE A PROBLEM. *JG

THE SEAT BELT FAILED DURING AN ACCIDENT AND THE CONSUMER PROPELLED FORWARD INTO THE WINDSHIELD, THE DRIVER SUSTAINED SOME INJURIES. *YH
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION AT 20-25 MPH, AND NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. CONSUMER SUFFERED NECK AND BACK INJURIES. VEHICLE AT DEALERSHIP AT THIS TIME.*AK
HOOD LATCH FAILED AS CAR WAS TRAVELING ON A MAJOR US INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATEL 55 MPH. THE HOOD CAME OPEN, ,CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR AND HIT 2 CONCRETE BARRIERS. THE CAR WAS TOTALED. THANKFULLY, NO ONE WAS INJURED.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 8 MPH IN A PARKING LOTVEHICLE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. VEHICLE HAD TO BE PUSHED INTO A PARKING SPACE ONLY TO FIND THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. DEALERSHIP HAS EXAMINED VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY HAD FAILED AND CAUSED THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION. *AK
REAR BRAKES WERE SQUEALING, AND CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE IN TO PUT REAR DUST COVER OVER BRAKES, ALSO REAR BRAKES STARTED HAVING SAME PROBLEM, BRAKE HAD CUT INTO DRUM OF WHEEL, CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER STATED THAT BRAKE SHOES WERE DEFECTIVE BECAUSE A PIECE HAD BROKEN OFF, DEALER WILL FIX REAR BRAKES UNDER WARRANTY.*AK CONSUMER WAS BACK TO DEALER, DEALER PUT BACK THE DRUMS, PUT ON NEW SHOES, FRONT ROTORS RESURFACED AND NEW FRONT PADS PUT ON, BUT THE BRAKES STARTED SQUEELING AGAIN ON 13-DEC-2001.
