I have a 2008 Hyundai Accent. It only has 55,000 miles. However, the engine is failing. After doing reading, it is obvious that this vehicle has manufacturer engine defects. I am 81 years old. What do I do now. I did not want to purchase another vehicle. I would like Hyundai to replace this engine without cost to me. I have own cars with 89,000 miles that did not have engine defects.
my car has been broken into twice in the past three months, with personal items being stolen each time: a child car seat, a child booster seat, an emergency inhaler medication for asthma, multiple charging cords, a bluetooth adapter system, and a workbag which contained medical equipment and scrubs and shoes. I need a new security system for my car with automatic locks.
08 ACCENT GS, AIRBAG LIGHT ON WITHOUT ANY ACCIDENT OR UNUSUAL DRIVING. ITS A SAFETY ISSUE. HYUNDAI SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THIS ISSUE SINCE MANY CUSTOMERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYS ON. WAS INFORMED BY MULTIPLE MECHANICS IN THE AREA THAT IS A KNOWN SAFETY AND SYSTEM MALFUNCTION ISSUE WITH THE 2008 HYUNDAI ACCENT HATCHBACK MODELS AND NOT SURE WAY A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HYUNDAI ACCENT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF FUEL AND STALLED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO FUEL IN THE FUEL TANK EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GOSHEN MOTORS (3220 ELCOTT RD, GOSHEN, IN) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS FAULTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,000.

TAKATA RECALL: AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON AND CAR CANNOT BE INSPECTED. ALSO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. REMOVED PASSENGER AND DRIVER SEATS TO CHECK SENSORS/WIRES BUT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM
WHEN I GOT THE CAR FROM THE CAR LOT THE TOLD SUMBIT RECALL THAT THEU DID NOT HAVE TIME TO DO WITH A LAMP SWITCH
THIS VEHICLE HAS EXCESSIVE RUST UNDERBODY, AND THE FUEL TANK STRAPS ARE RUSTED ALONG WITH JUST ABOUT THE WHOLE FRAME. THE BRAKES ARE NOW SQUEALING AND RUBBING AFTER AN ALLEGED UNDERBODY RUST TREATMENT, WHICH SPRAYED OVER THE OLD RUST! HYUNDAI HAS OFFERED A "WAX TREATMENT" WHICH IS BASICALLY WAXING MY RUST. THE FUEL STRAPS SEEM TO ME TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE OF GREAT IMPORTANCE, AS WELL AS THE BRAKES. THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEATBELT DOES NOT ALWAYS FASTEN AND I WAS TOLD THAT THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. HYUNDAI REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY ISSUES, STATING THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY, YET THEY ADMIT THE ORIGINAL FRAME COATING WAS TOO THIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HYUNDAI ACCENT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR SUDDENLY CAME DOWN AND OBSTRUCTED THE CONTACT'S VIEW. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL WHILE ATTEMPTING TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH A SECOND VEHICLE. DURING THE INCIDENT, THE DRIVER SUSTAINED AN INJURED LOWER BACK AND NECK. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT RECEIVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER (JIM HUDSON HYUNDAI, 310 GREYSTONE BLVD, COLUMBIA, SC 29210) WERE CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. *TT *TR
DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR ASSEMBLY DESIGN ALLOWS IT TO FALL DOWN AND FLAP THEREBY CAUSING MYSELF THE DRIVER AND OWNER TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. HYUNDAI REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS DEFECT AS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED!!!!! I WAS DRIVING IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON A U.S. INTERSTATE IN SOUTH CAROLINA.
IN NOVEMBER 2016 THE EXHAUST PIPE FROM THE FRONT AXLE TO THE MUFFLER FELL OFF DUE TO BRACKETS RUSTING. A COUPLE WEEKS LATER A RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED FROM HYUNDAI ABOUT RUSTING TO THE CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION. REPAIR WORK WAS DONE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. HYUNDAI SPRAYED THE UNDERSIDE FOR RUST-PROOFING, THEN DENIED A REIMBURSEMENT CLAIM ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. IN APRIL 2017 THE ROCKER ARMS AND ROTORS HAD RUSTED, AND REQUIRED FULL BRAKING SYSTEM AND ROCKER ARM REPLACEMENT. IN JUNE 2017 THE ENTIRE SUSPENSION SYSTEM REQUIRED REPLACEMENT, DUE TO RUSTING OF THE SHOCKS AND STRUTS. AN ATTEMPT TO FILE A SECOND CLAIM FOR REIMBURSEMENT CANNOT BE PROCESSED THROUGH HYUNDAI'S WEBSITE, CITING THE VIN NUMBER AND LAST NAME MATCHING THE ORIGINAL REQUEST THAT WAS DENIED WITHOUT EXPLANATION.

CRITICAL: DRIVERS SUNVISOR UNEXPECTEDLY FELL OUT OF IT'S MOUNTING WHILE TRAVELING AT NIGHT ON A VERY NARROW 2-LANE BRIDGE. DARNED NEAR GOT ME KILLED!!!. THIS IS A SERIOUS HAZARD AND A VERY POOR & DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW. REPLACEMENT UNITS ARE VERY EXPENSIVE AND EQUALLY FLAWED. WE TOOK OUR CAR TO OUR HYUNDAI DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT WE NEEDED A NEW AIRBAG INSTALLED AND IT WOULD COULD AROUND $1000 FOR THE PART. THEY ORDERED IT AND WE HAVE TO SCEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO PUT IT ON. WE ARE ON A FIXED INCOME AND $1000 OR MORE IS A WHOLE LOT OF MONEY THAT WE DON'T HAVE. WE WERE WONDERING IF THERE IS OR COULD POSSIBLY BE A RECALL FOR THIS AIRBAG PROBLEM. AT END OF MAY 2016, MY AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON AND STAYED ON. I TOOK MY 2008 ACCENT TO THE DEALER ON 6/2/16 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE OCS MAT MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1400 TO $1600. IF I DO NOT REPLACE IT, THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE AIRBAG SENSOR SYSTEM IS DISABLED. THIS 2008 ACCENT SHOULD BE RECALLED BECAUSE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.

HEADING WEST BOUND ON I 10 IN ALABAMA. CAR WAS GOING BETWEEN 60-70MPH. AVOIDED THE ACCIDENT BY SLIDING INTO ANOTHER LANE, BREAKS DID NOT CATCH. UPON FISH TAILING BACK INTO TRAFFIC HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD ON AND AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY ON IMPACT UNTIL CAR WAS NO LONGER IN MOTION. THE FRONT DRIVER AIRBAG AND THE PASSENGER FRONT AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. WAS STANDING ON THE BREAKS TRYING TO GET THE CAR TO STOP AND THE CAR NEVER STOPPED. IT TOOK THE MEDIAN CABLES TO STOP THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE CAR HAD COME TO A STOP IS WHEN THE SIDE CURTAIN AND SEAT AIRBAG ON PASSENGER SIDE DEPLOYED. DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED HEAVILY TO DRIVER SIDE FRONT AS WELL AND STILL NO SIDE AIRBAGS, SEAT, OR FRONTAL AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. E-BREAK DID NOT EVEN CATCH.

DRIVERS SIDE SUN VISOR WOULD NOT STAY UP, THEN JUST FELL ALL THE WAY OUT, HAD TO HAVE THE LIGHT DISCONNECTED, NOT UNDER WARRANTY HYUNDAI DEALER SAID, NO RECALL FOR THIS SPECIFIC AUTO. DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSIER STREET IN TOWN AT ABOUT 35-40 MILES AN HOUR, WITH FAMILY IN THE CAR, WHEN A LADY IN AN SUV PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME. THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE CRUSHED INTO HER DRIVER'S TIRE AREA. MY CAR WAS TOTALED AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THANK GOODNESS EVERYONE HAD THEIR SEATBELTS ON, AND EVERYONE WALKED AWAY FROM THE ACCIDENT.

RED AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD IS ON. I HAD THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR PAD IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WENT BAD. THEY SAID THE SEAT BASE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IT WOULD BE $822.82 FOR PARTS + 1.5 HOURS LABOR FOR A TOTAL OF: $985.00. IT SEEMS VERY ODD THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG SENSOR WOULD GO BAD IN MY CAR BECAUSE I HARDLY EVER HAVE A PASSENGER.

ON NOVEMBER 14, 2014, AFTER COMING TO A STOP,THE ENGINE SHUT OFF ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, REQUIRING ME TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK OR NEUTRAL TO RESTART IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 19 TIMES SINCE. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS MAY HAPPEN WHILE I AM IN MOTION AND THAT IF IT DID IT MIGHT CAUSE ANOTHER VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO MINE. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO OUR LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED USED IN JULY 2014 TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED. THE ENGINE CAME TO A STOP WHILE IT WAS ON THEIR LIFT BEING CHECKED OUT. HOWEVER, THE COMPUTER DID NOT PROVIDE ANY CODE TO ENABLE THEM TO FIX IT. THEY SUGGESTED PUTTING 2 BOTTLES OF DRY GAS IN THE TANK BUT THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE ALERTED THEM THAT THIS CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT SINCE THE COMPUTER FINDS NOTHING WRONG. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP ALSO CONSULTED HYUNDAI TECHNICAL SERVICE TEAM AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO GIVE THEM ANY SOLUTIONS. I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO HYUNDAI CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE ON APRIL 10, 2015. I ASKED ABOUT THE 100,000 MILE DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY AND THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE THE MILEAGE IS OVER 60,000 THERE IS NOT MUCH THEY CAN DO FOR ME. THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD TRY TO LOOK INTO THIS AND NOTIFY MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE CASE MANAGER ([XXX]) ASKED ME WHAT I WOULD LIKE OUT OF THIS SITUATION. I TOLD HIM I WANTED TO GET IT FIXED AS IT IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY CONCERN AS WELL AS A CONSTANT WORRY EVERY TIME I AM COMING TO A STOP. MI THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, HAD AN AUTO PARTS STORE SCAN THE CODE AND SAID IT WAS PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR, AT THE TIME I USED THE CAR FOR COMMUTING TO WORK AND NEVER HAD PASSENGERS. NOW RETIRED AND CANNOT HAVE A PASSENGER FOR FEAR THAT BEING INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT COULD BE DEADLY FOR THE OCCUPANT OF THAT SEAT, WENT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD ITS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, ( I'M SECOND OWNER ) AND THE SEAT ALONE WOULD COST AT LEAST $900. PLUS INSTALLATION WOULD BE ABOUT $1200. OR MORE ON A FIXED INCOME AND CANNOT AFFORD THAT, CANNOT SELL THE CAR IT LOWERS THE RESALE, AND WHO WOULD WANT IT. GUESS I'M STUCK
THE SRS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, SO WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD US IT WOULD BE $900 TO REPAIR THE OCCUPANCY SENSOR ON THE PASSENGER SEAT, SINCE THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. WITHOUT THE REPAIR, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION. THIS MUST BE DUE TO A FAULTY PART OR POOR INSTALLATION, SINCE OUR VEHICLE HAS NOT SEEN ANY RECENT ACCIDENTS OR UNUSUAL USE. *TR

BOTH SUN VISORS ON DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE FAIL TO STAY IN PLACE. THE VISOR ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DROPPED DOWN WITHOUT WARNING WHILE I WAS DRIVING, HITTING ME ON THE TOP OF THE HEAD, AND HANGING IN PARTIAL OBSTRUCTION OF THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN I PUSHED IT TO THE SIDE IT OBSTRUCTS MY VISION ON THE LEFT AND HANGS HAPHAZARDLY. THE FAULTY VISORS ARE A SAFETY HAZARD WHICH ARE A RESULT OF A PRODUCT DEFECT BEYOND MY CONTROL. I AM A MEMBER OF A GROWING NUMBER OF DISSATISFIED HYUNDAI OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THEIR SUN VISORS. THESE PROBLEMS POSE A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK TO HYUNDAI DRIVERS WHOSE VISION WHILE DRIVING MAY BE OBSTRUCTED BY THESE FAULTY VISORS. I HAVE HAD MY 2008 HYUNDAI FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW, AND I LOVE IT, BUT THE PLASTIC PIECES/SUN VISORS IN THE MODEL HAVE BROKEN OFF. I HAVE LOOKED FOR SOME ONLINE, AND THEY HAVE RIDICULOUS PRICES. IT SEEMS TO BE A LARGE PROBLEM WITH HYUNDAI, AND EVENTUALLY SOMEONE'S LIFE/LIVES WILL BE ENDANGER, BECAUSE THE VISIBILITY ISN'T GREAT. I HAVE TRIED TO FIX THEM BUT, THEY BOTH DRIVER/PASSENGER NEED TO BE REPLACED. I CHECKED OUT REVIEWS ONLINE, AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED OF THE VISORS JUST BREAKING OFF QUICKLY. PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR HAS A METAL COMPONENT INSIDE AND IT SNAPPED AND THE SUN VISOR NOW DROPS DOWN IS BLOCKING THE FIELD OF VIEW OF THE DRIVER AND WILL NOT STAY UP.
ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2013, WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT, I TRIED TO UNLOCK THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT DOOR LOCK BY PRESSING THE UNLOCK BUTTON TO ALLOW MY PASSENGER TO GET INTO THE CAR. ALL CAR DOOR LOCKS OPENED EXCEPT THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER. SO I PRESSED THE BUTTON AGAIN AND ALL THE DOORS LOCKED. WAITED AND HIT THE UNLOCK BUTTON AND ALL THE DOORS UNLOCKED EXCEPT FOR THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE IN THE CAR AND WENT AROUND TO THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER DOOR AND INSERTED THE KEY DIRECTLY IN THE DOOR LOCK. IT STILL WOULD NOT OPEN UNTIL I INSERTED THE KEY AND PULLED THE DOOR HANDLE AT THE SAME TIME. SO VERY RELUCTANTLY MY PASSENGER GOT INTO THE FRONT SEAT. HE TRIED TO UNLOCK THE DOOR ONCE INSIDE BY USING THE HANDLE AND WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. THE NEXT DAY I CALLED THE DEALER WHERE I HAD PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO ANALYZE THE PROBLEM. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2013 AND WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH WHAT I LEARNED. THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR WAS BAD AND A SPECIAL PART WOULD HAVE TO BE ORDERED. THE TOTAL COST OF REPAIR FOR THIS DEFECTIVE PART WOULD COST ME $346.13 + TAX. THE SERVICE MANAGER DID OFFER ME A 10% DISCOUNT. AT THAT TIME I DECLINED THE REPAIR BECAUSE OF THE COST. I AM VERY NERVOUS NOW ABOUT EVEN DRIVING THE CAR BECAUSE I WORRY THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOCK ACTUATOR MAY ONE DAY TRAP ME IN THE VEHICLE AS WELL. MY CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF THIS SAFETY DEFECT, I DON'T FEEL THAT IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO BEAR THE FULL COST OF REPAIR. SO I'M BRINGING THIS TO YOUR ATTENTION. *TR
