THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS RANDOMLY UNLOCKING WITHOUT PROVOCATION. IT HAPPENS MOST OFTEN WHEN IDLING AT A COMPLETE STOP, ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP OR FROM A SLOW SPEED. THE AUTO-LOCK FUNCTION IS DISABLED FOR UP TO SEVERAL SECONDS AFTER EACH OCCURRENCE SO THE DOOR CAN NOT BE RELOCKED. IN THE BEGINNING THIS HAPPENED RARELY. NOW IT'S HAPPENING DAILY. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HYUNDAI AZERA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER SEAT FUNCTION WOULD ACTIVATE WITHOUT INITIATION WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND COULD NOT BE STOPPED. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 20,500 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,475.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HYUNDAI AZERA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS CRACKING AND WAS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED DUE TO THE CRACKS BEING NEAR THE AIR BAGS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HYUNDAI AZERA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT WOULD ABNORMALLY MOVE BACKWARD INDEPENDENTLY AFTER HAVING BEEN SET TO A PARTICULAR ANGLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR SPORADICALLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE FAILURE WOULD ALSO DRAIN THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,000. UPDATED 5/7/12 *CN ACCORDING TO THE INVOICE, THE DRIVER'S SEAT WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD OR BACKWARD. THE SEAT TRACK WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD AND THE MOTOR WAS TRYING TO MOVE THE TRACK. UPDATED 05/25/12
2008 HYUNDAI AZERA. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE TIRES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER DID NOT MEASURE THE TIRE TREAD DEPTH AND IT WAS DOCUMENTED THAT THE RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURE WAS TO 36 PSI. THE CONSUMER WENT BACK AND ADDRESSED THE ISSUES WITH THE SERVICE WRITER, STATING THE FACTORY RECOMMENDED TIRE PSI STICKER ON THE INSIDE OF THE DRIVER DOOR WAS 30 PSI. THE SERVICE WRITER STATED THAT ANYTHING BELOW 31 PSI WOULD CAUSE AIR PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO HAVE THE TIRE PRESSURE SET AT 30 PSI. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HYUNDAI AZERA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT MOVED FORWARD, PUSHING THE CONTACT INTO THE STEERING WHEEL WHERE SHE BECAME TRAPPED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HER THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON A 2 LANE COUNTRY ROAD WITH NO SHOULDER TO PULL OVER ON MY SPEED DROPPED FROM 50 MPH TO ABOUT 10MPH. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED SOME 43 MILES TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER. THE PROBLEM TURNED OUT TO BE THAT THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR HAD FAILED. THIS FAILURE, HAD IT OCURRED ON A HEAVILY TRAVELED HIGHWAY, COULD HAVE RESULTED IN FOLLOWING VEHICLES REARENDING MY VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN REDUCTION IN SPEED. I HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE THAT THE FAILURE OF THIS SENSOR IS NOT UNCOMMON ON HYUNDAI VEHICLES.
POWER DRIVER SEAT MOVED ON ITS OWN ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS TO ITS FULL REAR POSITION, SEAT BACK MOVED TO ALMOST FULL RECLINE, AND SEAT HEIGHT WENT TO LOWEST POSITION. THIS HAPPENED BOTH WHILE VEHICLE WAS UNATTENDED WITH IGNITION OFF AND WHILE VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. EACH TIME IT HAPPENED WHILE BEING OPERATED I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE AND HAD TO STOP VEHICLE AND MANUALLY RESET SEAT CONTROLS.
1. WHEN I DROVE THE CAR, THE POWER SEAT SOMETIMES AUTOMATICALLY WENT BACK TO THE END. AND, I ALMOST CAN'T HIT THE BRAKE. (I'M SHORT AND I ALWAYS PULL THE SEAT TO FRONT.) AFTER HAVING THIS ISSUE, I CAN'T PULL POWER SEAT TO FORWARD ANY MORE. BUT, AFTER FEW TIMES OF DRIVING, THEN, I CAN PULL THE SEAT TO FRONT. THEN, IT HAPPENS AGAIN AFTER FEW DRIVES. 2. IT HAPPENS EVERY TWO OR THREE TIMES WHEN I DROVE THE CAR. 3. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRACK WAS REPLACED. BUT, THE CAR STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM. AND, I'M WAITING FOR ANOTHER PART (NOT SURE WHICH PART) TO REPLACE. *TR
AUTOMOBILE SURGED, THEN WENT FROM 60+ MPH TO 20+ MPH (LIMP ALONG MODE). NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT UNTIL 20 MPH MODE WAS REACHED THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON JUST BEFORE CAR ENGINE DIED. ESC SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATED DURING INCIDENT - POTENTIALLY BY SUDDEN SPEED DECREASE?. PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD AND HAD TO BE TOWED 45 MILES TO NEAREST DEALER. INCIDENT WAS 100+ MILES FROM HOME WITH DEALER TOW - REPAIR WAS 140 MILES FROM HOME. CAR MILEAGE - 25,803. DEALER REPLACED THROTTLE SENSOR AND PERFORMED ECM UPDATE AS A RESULT OF THIS VISIT. PREVIOUSLY HAD SAME VEHICLE (3 WEEKS PRIOR - 25,187 MILES) AT ANOTHER DEALER FOR SIMILAR COMPLAINT WITH SURGING PROBLEM. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PRESENT. IT TOOK THEM 2 DAYS TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM, THEN HAD TO WAIT FOR PART AND THEN INSTALL - TOTAL TIME AT DEALER (INCLUDING OVER WEEKEND) 5 DAYS. DROVE CAR INTO DEALER FOR FIRST REPAIR, NO TOW NEEDED. INITIAL DEALER CALLED TECH SUPPORT TO HELP DIAGNOSE AND INITIATED A CASE NUMBER WITH THEM. REPLACED MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR DURING THAT VISIT. SAME SYMPTOMS AT FIRST INCIDENT INCLUDING VEHICLE 'SURGING' AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED (50 MPH+). LUCKY THERE WASN'T A MAJOR INJURY OR FATALITY WITH THE TYPE OF SPEED DROP IN THE SECOND INCIDENT. I HAD JUST EXITED THE BUSY INTERSTATE ABOUT 5 MILES EARLIER FOR A 2-LANE LOCAL HIGHWAY. IF THE SECOND INCIDENT HAD OCCURRED ON THE MAJOR HIGHWAY I FEAR A SUBSTANTIAL CRASH AND POSSIBLE FATALITY WOULD HAVE OCCURRED. AFTER SECOND INCIDENT, I CALLED HYUNDAI AMERICA TO REPORT INCIDENT AND LODGE COMPLAINT. THEY ARE 'INVESTIGATING'. VERY CONCERNING THAT THIS INVOLVES A THROTTLE PROBLEM AND POTENTIAL ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED WITH NO NOTICE. THIS DEFECT COULD EASILY CAUSE A POTENTIAL SERIOUS INJURY OR FATALITY. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS HYUNDAI WHICH WE BOUGHT FOR RELIABILITY AND SAFETY. *TR
2008 HYUNDAI AZERA.......DRIVING SPEED LIMIT (75) WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON BUT I HAVE NO ACCELERATION ABILITY. IT OCCURRED THREE TIMES AND BUT DID MAKE IT HOME. IN TALKING TO A DEALER HE KNEW IMMEDIATELY THAT IT WAS A THROTTLE SENSOR. HAD THIS HAPPENED WHILE PASSING OR ON A ROAD W/ NO SHOULDER, IT COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT OR FATALITY. HYUNDAI AMERICA NOR THE DEALER DIDN'T SEEM VERY CONCERNED...SURPRISING CONSIDERING THE TOYOTA PROBLEMS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HYUNDAI AZERA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH ON A RAMP, THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE WHEN HE DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SPEED UP ALTHOUGH THE RPMS SHOWED A READING OF 1000. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BACK AUTOMATICALLY MOVED TO IT'S FORWARD POSITION. AFTER RETURNING IT TO IT'S NORMAL POSITION IT WOULD START MOVING BY ITSELF AGAIN AFTER A SHORT TIME. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT WAS TO HOLD THE LEVER IN THE DOWN POSITION WHICH WOULD ALSO MAKE THE SEAT MOVE DOWN AT TIMES. *TR
DRIVER SEAT MOVES BY ITSELF PINNING THE DRIVER TO THE STEERING WHEEL. SEAT MOVES BY ITSELF WITH THE KEY IN THE OFF POSITION.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HYUNDAI AZERA. THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE UNDERNEATH THE HOOD, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE CODE. ON JULY 27, 2010 THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED; YET, THE FAILURE WASN'T CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER TWICE. THE VEHICLE WASN'T REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,068 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,100.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 HYUNDAI AZERA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BACK MOVED FORWARD FORCEFULLY WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE UNINTENDED FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY STEERING THE VEHICLE, BUT STILL MANAGED TO DRIVE WITH CAUTION. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WILL BE NOTIFIED OF THE MALFUNCTION. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 24,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY THE CAR LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND I HAD TO MANEUVER OUT OF TRAFFIC TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS TRAVELING OUT OF STATE AND IT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE I COULD GET HELP. DUE TO THE DANGER IT WAS TOWED TO A DEALER AND THEY REPORTED A THROTTLE SENSOR WAS BAD. *TR
I OWN A 2008 HYUNDAI AZERA THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD AND STAYED LIT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS A DEFECTIVE SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG SENSOR THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS GIVEN A 2009 HYUNDAI SONATA LOANER AND WAS IN AN ACCIDENT WITH THAT VEHICLE. THE OTHER VEHICLE T-BONED MY DRIVERS SIDE AND CAUSED OVER $11,000.00 IN DAMAGE. THE SIDE IMPACT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. I SUFFERED A DEEP GASH TO THE BACK OF THE HEAD REQUIRING STAPLES TO CLOSE IT--A SPRAINED SHOULD, WHICH I STILL DO NOT HAVE FULL RANGE OF MOTION AND A SOFTBALL SIZE HEMOTOMA ON MY LEFT LEG. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI CORPORATION IN CA TO FILE A CLAIM. I FOLLOWED ALL OF THEIR PROTOCOL, FILLED OUT THEIR FORMS AND SUPPLIED ALL DOCUMENTS REQUESTED--IE: POLICE REPORT, ESTIMATE, PHOTOS, REPAIR DOCUMENT FROM MY '08 AZERA AND OVERNIGHTED THE PACKAGE TO THEM WITHIN THEIR ALLOTTED TIME FRAME. IT'S BEEN 8 WEEKS SINCE THE ACCIDENT AND I STILL DO NOT HAVE AN ANSWER FROM HYUNDAI AS TO WHY THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *TR
