The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ABS module and wiring hardness had burned and needed to be replaced; however, the dealer informed the contact that the manufacturer had discontinued the parts for the repair. The contact stated that the ABS, the brake, and the check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 103,539.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CAPE & ISLANDS MITSUBISHI LOCATED AT 527 STATION AVE, SOUTH YARMOUTH MA, 02664, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUB FRAME WAS RUSTED AND CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE AIR BAGS ARE NOT CONNECTED TO SEAT BELTS.AIR BAGS STAYS ON. #2 BRAKE PEDAL IS ON THE SPONGY SIDE. HYUNDAI DEALER COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM.THE MECHANIC TOLD ME FLUID WAS LEAKING EVERYWHERE.I TOLD HIM THERE ARE NO LEAKS IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM CAUSE I CHECKED THE MASTER SYSTEM MYSELF IALSO HAD THE BRAKES BIEED=OK

AFTER STOPPING AT THE LOCAL GAS STATION, A CITIZEN USED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND A FIRE REPORT WAS FAILED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER GETTEL HYUNDAI OF SARASOTA (3500 BEE RIDGE RD., SARASOTA, FL) WERE BOTH NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO O'BRIEN HYUNDAI OF FT MYERS (2850 COLONIAL BLVD, FORT MYERS, FL 33966, (239) 277-1222) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HYDRAULIC ELECTRIC CONTROL UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON IN MY CAR. I TOOK IT INTO THE PHIL LONG HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN COLORADO SPRINGS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PASSENGER OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WAS MALFUNCTIONING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AT FIRST THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WAS VERY CONFIDENT THAT HYUNDAI WOULD PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT, BUT AFTER A PHONE CALL HE WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD NOT BECAUSE MY VEHICLE HAD OVER 100,000 MILES AND I WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER. (HOWEVER, I DO BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART BECAUSE THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO MY SISTER'S HYUNDAI.) THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR WAS 117,108 WHEN I HAD THE ISSUE DIAGNOSED.

I PURCHASED MY HYUNDAI AZERA 2008N USED 2 YEARS AGO AND HAVE HAD MINOR ISSUES WITH IT. THE HEATED SEATS CANNOT BE TURNED OFF, THE AIR BAGS DO NOT WORK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, BRAKES HAD A RECALL, AND NOW GASKETS ARE BLOWN ON THE ENGINE. I HAVE SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND BECAUSE ITS A WHOLE NEW CREW, THE OLD CREW WAS LET GO, THEY DO NOT WANT TO HELP WITH GETTING ANOTHER CAR FOR ME. TONY, THE SALESPERSON,. DID TRY BY PASSING ME ON TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THEY CANNOT HELP ME. MY CAR NEEDS TO BE PAID DOWN SOME BEFORE ANY DEALERSHIP WILL TOUCH IT.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the valve cover gasket was leaking onto the alternator, causing the alternator to fail. The mechanic replaced the valve cover gasket, the battery, and the alternator; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was repaired for a second time; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred every 3 years. The contact related the failure to TSB Number: 21-01-047H-1. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000.

THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN AS TO WHEN THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE BECAUSE THE DEALER FAILED TO RESPOND AFTER SEVERAL CALLS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. RECALL NUMBER 18V026000 RECALL DATE 01/09/2018 COMPONENT SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK HYUNDAI RECALLS AZERA AND SONATA FOR FIRE DANGERS JANUARY 24, 2018 ' HYUNDAI IS RECALLING ABOUT 88,000 MODEL YEAR 2006-2011 HYUNDAI AZERA AND 2006 HYUNDAI SONATA CARS BECAUSE THE ENGINE COMPARTMENTS MAY CATCH ON FIRE. ON 1/10/18, 2 WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS RECALL MY 2008 HYUNDAI AZERA CAUGHT FIRE IN MY BASEMENT WHILE IT WAS PARKED AND NO KEY WAS IN THE IGNITION. THIS HAPPENED AT 3:30AM, OUR ENTIRE HOUSE, INCLUDING BOTH OF OUR VEHICLES WERE DESTROYED. NOTHING WAS SALVAGEABLE. THE AUTOMAKER REVEALS IN THE GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS THAT WATER COULD ENTER THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE MODULE AND CAUSE AN ELECTRICAL SHORT, WHICH INCREASES THE RISK OF FIRE WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS ON OR OFF. HYUNDAI SAYS THE RECALL IS SCHEDULED TO BEGIN ON FEB. 23, AND THAT ALL NECESSARY REPAIRS WILL BE MADE BY DEALERS FREE OF CHARGE. TAKATA RECALL
TAKATA RECALL. THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON ALL THE TIME. THE TIRE TPMS LIGHT ALWAYS COMES ON SAYING IT FAILING. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR IS SHIFTING FUNNY, SOMETIMES IS JOLTS FORWARD AND SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY. CAR WAS ALSO JUST STALLING OUT AT STOP LIGHTS. IT HAS NOT DONE THAT IN A LITTLE WHILE BUT IT GOES THROUGH SPELLS WHERE IT WILL DO IT EVERY TIME I COME TO A STOP. I DO NOT HAVE AN EXACT DATE WHEN EVERYTHING STARTED.
STARTED HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE WHEN MY WIFE RODE WITH ME AND THE "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF. EVENTUALLY, IT STARTED TO REMAIN ON THE WHOLE TIME WITH HER IN THE SEAT. NOW THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT UNFASTENED LIGHT FLASHES CONSTANTLY WITH NO ONE IN THE SEAT. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL HYUNDAI TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE AND IT IS READING A FAULT CODE B1489 INDICATING AN ISSUE WITH THE PASSENGER OCCUPANT DETECTION SYSTEM (PODS). SINCE THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER HYUNDAI MODEL'S DATING BACK TO THE MID-2000'S THAT HAVE HAD RECALL'S ON THE PODS, I AM WONDERING IF MY VEHICLE MAY USE THE SAME SEAT SENSOR'S THAT THE OTHER MODEL'S USE. I HAVEN'T RECEIVED A STRAIGHT ANSWER TO IF WHEN THE PODS IS DEFECTIVE, WILL THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOY, OR WILL THEY DEPLOY NO MATTER WHAT SHOULD THE EVENT BE TRIGGERED.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V497000 (AIR BAGS, SEAT BELTS). THE MAIN AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE GAUGE CLUSTER KEEPS COMING ON, AS WELL AS THE PASSENGER SEATBELT OCCASIONALLY LIGHT WHICH OCCURS WHEN SOMEONE HAS SAT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THEN EXITS. ONCE THE SEAT IS EMPTY, THE SEATBELT LIGHT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE LIGHT OFF, BUT THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE MAIN CLUSTER REMAINS LIT. THE ONLY TIME THE LIGHT GOES OFF IS WHEN THE CAR IS RESTARTED MOMENTARILY, BUT THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS BACK ON AND ALWAYS COMES ON UNTIL THE ENGINE IS OFF. I DRIVE A CAR IN DANGEROUS STATUS EVERY TIME AND EVERY DAY.
OIL LEAKS FROM THE FRONT CYLINDER BANK STRAIGHT INTO THE ALTERNATOR CAUSING IT TO FAIL PREMATURELY. THE NHTSA ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE FOR THE 2006-2012 HYUNDAI VERACRUZ (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V415000). YOU CONCLUDED IN THE CONSEQUENCE PARAGRAPH "AN UNEXPECTED FAILURE OF MOTIVE POWER WHILE DRIVING INCREASES THE RISK OF A CRASH." I'M DEEPLY CONCERNED OF THIS HAPPENING WITH MY HYUNDAI AZERA AS IT CURRENTLY HAS OIL LEAKING INTO THE ALTERNATOR. MY AZERA HAS 80K ORIGINAL MILES. THE AZERA USES THE EXACT SAME ENGINE, FRONT CYLINDER BANK GASKET, AND ALTERNATOR AS THE VERACRUZ AND SUBSEQUENTLY SUFFERS FROM THE SAME PROBLEM THAT LED TO THE RECALL ISSUED FOR THE HYUNDAI VERACRUZ. PLEASE REVIEW AND COMPARE MY CLAIM AGAINST THE EXISTING RECALL FOR THE HYUNDAI VERACRUZ AS OUTLINED ABOVE. I FEEL IT'S WORTH NOTING I ALSO CURRENTLY OWN A RECALL EFFECTED VERACRUZ AND HAVE BOTH VEHICLES FOR SIDE BY SIDE COMPARISON. THE DRIVER'S SIDE POWER SEAT IS MALFUNCTIONING. THE SEAT OFTEN MOVES ON ITS OWN WITHOUT OPERATING THE POWER POSITION SWITCH. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS. WHEN INSPECTED BY HYUNDAI DEALER PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. SEAT MALFUNCTION HAS HAPPENED BOTH IN MOTION AND STATIONARY.
08 AZERA: AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH PASSENGER SEATBELT WARNING. FIRST WOULD OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY 2 YRS AGO BUT FOR MORE THAN A WEEK THE AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD STAYS ON (EVEN WHEN A PASSENGER IS SEATED OR NOT). HAD DEALER LOOK AT IT (WHEN IT WAS ON) & THEY INDICATED IT IS THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT / WIRING HARNESS ISSUE THEY'VE BEEN REPLACING UNDER A RECALL. INDICATED THE CAR'S VIN DIDN'T APPEAR IN RECALL BUT SERVICE REP. SAID IT APPEARS TO BE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. HAD REPLACED. NOW IT IS OCCURRING AGAIN. REQUESTING HYUNDAI CORPORATE REVIEW AND APPROVE REPAIR AT NO CHARGE. CONCERNED FOR OUR SAFETY.
POWER DRIVERS SEAT MOVES ON ITS OWN. IT MOVES FORWARD WITH THE BACK SEAT REST PUSHING ME AND ACTUALLY PINNING ME INTO THE STEERING WHEEL THIS OCCURS BOTH WHILE PARKED WITH THE ENGINE IN THE OFF OR RUNNING, AND IN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN AT ANY SPEED. THE MOTION OF THE SEAT VARIES FROM SEVER TO MINOR MOVEMENT. IT DOES NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENT IF ON THE HIGHWAY OR URBAN STREETS. UNKNOWN CAUSE AT THIS TIME.
POWER SEAT AND BACK REST OPERATES AT WILL. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE I HAVE HAD THE SEAT MOVE FORWARD RAPIDLY CAUSING A DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE CONDITION. HYUNDAI HAS HAD MANY COMPLAINANTS IN THIS AREA, AND REFUSES TO RECALL AND REPAIR THE PROBLEM. HOW MANY INJURIES AND DEATH DOES IT TAKE IN ORDER TO HAVE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ACT ON THIS MATTER?
RE: 2008 HYUNDAI AZERA / 78,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AT 45MPH ON A STRAIGHT 4 LANE HIGHWAY WHEN THE DRIVER'S POWER SEAT SUDDENLY MOVED ALL THE WAY TO THE FAR REARWARD POSITION, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO BE UNABLE TO REACH THE BRAKE PEDAL OR ACCELERATOR. SHE PUSHED THE SEAT SWITCH TO RETURN THE SEAT TO THE ORIGINALLY SELECTED POSITION, BUT WHEN THE SWITCH WAS RELEASED, THE SEAT AGAIN RETURNED TO THE REARWARD POSITION. SHE WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE SEAT FORWARD, AND KEEP IT THERE BY HOLDING THE SWITCH TO THE FORWARD POSITION, TEMPORARILY REGAINING CONTROL OF THE CAR. WHILE HOLDING THE SWITCH IN THE FORWARD POSITION, A BEEPING SOUND WAS HEARD. ONCE STOPPED, THE SEAT SWITCH WAS RELEASED, AND THE SEAT AGAIN RETURNED TO THE FAR REARWARD POSITION. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO A LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER, AND THEY HAVE ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NUMEROUS CODES RELATED TO THE SEAT STORED IN THE ONBOARD COMPUTER SYSTEM. PARTS HAVE BEEN ORDERED, BUT HAVE NOT YET ARRIVED AT THE DEALER. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE INTERNET, AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY POSTS CONCERNING THE SAME PROBLEM. SOME ADVISE THAT ONLY THE SEAT BACK WENT FORWARD, PINNING THE DRIVER TO THE STEERING WHEEL, AND OTHERS DESCRIBE EXACTLY WHAT OCCURRED ON THIS CAR. IN THIS INSTANCE, THE ENTIRE SEAT MOVED AND THE BACKREST REMAINED IN THE PRESET POSITION. FORTUNATELY, TRAFFIC WAS RELATIVELY LIGHT AT THE TIME, OR THE OUTCOME COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DIFFERENT. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT OR INJURY SUSTAINED IN THIS INCIDENT.

THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I HAD PROBLEMS BREAKING I ACTUALLY HAD MY MASTER CYLINDER REPLACED AS WELL AS MY BREAK PADS. AIR BAG LIGHT ON DASH CAME ON INDICATING THE AIR BAG WOULD NOT WORK. MY LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER ( COLONIAL HYUNDAI IN DOWNINGTOWN, PA) SAID THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT TENSION ELECTRICAL SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED REPLACING. I PAID THEM ALMOST $500 TO DO THAT. THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT TENSION SENSOR WIRING HARNESS WAS THE OBJECT OF A PREVIOUS RECALL ON THIS CAR AND WAS DONE. SINCE THE ELECTRICAL SENSOR IS ON THE SAME WIRING HARNESS WHICH WAS THE OBJECT OF A RECALL I CONTACTED HYUNDAI AMERICA (800-633-5151) AND ASKED THEM IF THEY WOULD COVER THE COST OF REPLACING THIS ELECTICAL SENSOR SINCE IT WAS ON THE SAME WIRING HARNESS THAT WAS THE OBJECT OF A PREVIOUS RECALL. THEY ASSIGNED ME A CASE # [XXX] AND GOT BACK TO ME AND SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER THIS COST. HE SAID I NEEDED TO CLEAR THE "SEAT PREFERENCE" MEMORY (WHICH I SUBSEQUENTLY DID SEVERAL TIMES) BUT OTHERWISE HE (AND THE DEALERSHIP) DISAVOWED ANY RESPONSIBILITY. DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, I DROVE ANOTHER CAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS. BUT, WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE THE AZERA, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT WAS UP AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL, HAVING MOVED ON ITS OWN SOMETIME AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN PARKED/TURNED OFF. I CONTINUED TO FIND THE SEAT UP AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS, DESPITE IT BEING IN A NORMAL POSITION WHEN I HAD TURNED THE CAR OFF.
