THERE ARE TWO PROBLEMS, I AM NOT SURE IF THEY ARE RELATED OR NOT 1) CAR WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK IF ON AN INCLINE. IN ORDER TO GET IT OUT OF PARK, YOU MUST FORCE THE SHIFTER. 2) CAR HAS PROBLEMS WITH INITIAL ACCELERATION AFTER A STOP. WILL NOT GO INTO FIRST GEAR, TRANSMISSION WILL "THUMP" INTO GEAR. TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL IS ADEQUATE
VEHICLE CONTINUES TO WANDERS ACROSS THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 62 OR MORE MPH, OR AT A LOW SPEED OF STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. VEHICLE BEEN IN / OUT OF DEALER SHOP ON FOUR OCCASIONS, AND PROBLEM STILL REOCCURRING. *AK STEERING WHEEL GRINDS LEFT AND RIGHT NEVER FIXED. *YH
AUTOMOBILE STALLED AT LOW SPEED. MECHANIC HAS REPLACED TWO THINGS.*AK
NHTSA/00V259001/ENGINE STALLING. THREE WEEKS AFTER HAVING THE MAF SENSOR CONNECTOR WIRING HARNESS RECALL PERFORMED THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE MAF SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
WHEN TURN SIGNALS WERE TURNED ON HEADLIGHTS CUT OFF. CONSUMER TRAVELED MOSTLY ON NON LIT/ DARK ROADS. THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS. DEALER HASN'T HEARD OF PROBLEM. *AK
MY ELANTRA EXPERIENCES INTERMITTENT LOW SPEED (ENGINE STALLING) ALMOST GOT INTO A CRASH BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. I CALLED THE DEALER TO CHECK IT OUT AND THEY SAID BRING IT IN AND THEY WILL FIX IT, THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT. THEY SAID THEY WILL RE ROUTE THE MAF SENOR CONNECTOR WIRING HARNESS,THEY DID, I STILL AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WAS CHECK OUT 3 OTHER TIMES EVEN PUT ON A DIAGNOSTICS (THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON ) THE SHOP COULD NOT FINE ANYTHING WRONG, NO CODES CAME UP, BUT STILL HAVING THE STALLING AND CUTTING OFF AT LOW SPEED. 3 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR IT WAS STALLING, IM SCARED TO DRIVE IT MOST OF THE TIME IN FEAR OF GETTING INTO A WRECK. *NM
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE WILL CUT OFF COMPLETEY. SOMETIMES THIS HAPPENS IN TRAFFIC. CONSUMER FEELS THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.*AK
FRONT SEAT BELTS WILL TWIST AND CURL THROUGH OPENINGS IN GUIDE(S) IN NORMAL USAGE, RENDERING THEM UNABLE TO EXPAND OR WITHDRAW IN A MANNER WHICH WOULD PROTCT IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. ALSO, WOULD NOT ALLOW YOU TO AVOID BEING TICKETED FOR SEAT BELT FUNCTIONALITY FAILURE. IF HIT, YOU WOULD GO IN ANY DIRECTION, AS SEAT BELT WOULD BE LOOSE. *AK
CONSUMER STATES WHILE DRIVING ENGINE STALLS AND IT HAS TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE IT CAN BE RESTARTED, IT HAS BEEN IN FOR REPAIR 6 TIMES IN TWO YEARS, FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. *YD
INTERMITTENTLY VEHICLE STALLED OUT AND DIED WITHOUT WARNING WHEN CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON AND BRAKES APPLIED. DEALER HAS REPLACED TRANSMISSION/ IGNITION HARNESS/TPS MODULE, AND IGNITION COIL. BUT PROBLEM HAS REOCCURRED. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
WAS TRAVELING AT 40MPH AND REARENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, NEITHER AIR BAG DEPLOYED. CONTACTED MANUFACTURER & WAS INFORMED NEEDED MORE INFORMATION ON VEHICLE. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO MECHANIC FOR REPAIRS.*AK
CONSUMER HAD A PROBLEM WITH BRAKES SINCE DATE OF VEHICLE PURCHASE. CONSUMER NOTICED A PRONOUNCED FORWARD MOTION OF VEHICLE WHEN BRAKING, ONLY NOT WHEN VEHICLE WAS SLOWING DOWN AUTOMATICALLY. NO ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES. HAS HAD DEALER LOOK AT VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES. *AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES IN AN EMERGENCY STOPPING SITUATION VEHICLE SKIDDED AN ADDITIONAL 30 FEET BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. ON MAY 1, VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A REAR END CRASH. VEHICLE WAS TRADED FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
MAJOR WHEEL CRACKS FOUND ON ONE WHEEL ON 6/19/03 WITH 59,367 REPLACED BY DEALER 2ND WHEEL CRACK FOUND ON 4/12/04 WITH 63,999 MILES. *AK
VEHICLE DOES NOT DOWNSHIFT WHEN SLOWING DOWN AT AN INTERSECTION AND PICKING UP SPEED AGAIN. DRIVER HAS TO MANUALLY SHIFT DOWN TO 2ND GEAR ON AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. ALSO, VEHICLE IS RELUCTANT TO UPSHIFT BLOCKING OUT ENGINE POWER. THIS CONDITION HAS CAUSED MANY CLOSE CALL AT INTERSECTIONS.
THIS IS MY SON'S CAR. HE HAD BEEN STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT AND WAS PROCEEDING TO SHIFT FROM 2ND TO 3RD, HE HEARD A GRINDING NOISE AND THE CAR FELT LIKE IT HAD A FLAT TIRE. HE PUT IN THE CLUTCH AND COASTED TO THE NEARBY GAS STATION. SMOKE WAS COMING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH HIS CAR. WHEN HE LOOKED, THERE WAS A TRAIL OF FLUID AND A PUDDLE UNDER HIS CAR. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED -- NEEDS WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION (AND VEHICLE HAS ONLY 8,500 MILES ON IT). *AK
WHEN IT IS RAINING IT BECOMES IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE OUT WINDOWS DUE TO RUBBER ON THE WIPER BLADES. DRIVER HAS REPLACED THE BLADES. *AK
THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A NO START CONDITION AND WOULD STALL WHILE THE CAR WAS STOPPED AND WHILE BEING DRIVEN, THE DEALER HAS REPLACED SEVERAL COMPONENTS (TP SENSOR, CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, AIR FILTER, KICK DOWN SWITCH, COIL ASSEMBLY) BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO STALL, THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THE PROBLEM MAY BE ASSOCIATED WITH RECALL 00V-259 OF THE MAF SENSOR WHICH WAS PERFORMED BY THE DEALER. NLM
REARVIEW MIRROR IS FIXED AT A CERTAIN HEIGHT,AND CONSUMER CANNOT MOVE IT UP OR DOWN, CONSUMER HEIGHT IS 6 FEET, AND REARVIEW MIRROR IS RIGHT AT EYE LEVEL, OBSTRUCTING CONSUMER'S TOTAL VIEW THROUGH THE RIGHT FRONT WINDOW. *AK
CONSUMER HAS REPORTED 5 TIMES TO DEALER THAT THE VEHICLE JERKED FORWARD, AND THERE WAS NO CONTROL OVER IT. ON 02-21-01, VEHICLE KEPT JERKING FORWARD WITH FOOT ON BRAKE, IT WAS VIBRATING. EVEN IN PARK VEHICLE KEPT DOING IT. IT WAS SO STRONG THAT LAP SEAT BACK WAS SO TIGHT THAT IT BRUISED AND INJURED CONSUMER'S WAIST. MOTION OF VEHICLE CAUSED A SPRAIN ANKLE WHILE TRYING TO HOLD BRAKE DOWN. DEALER CAN'T DUPLICATE PROBLEM, AND CAN'T FIND A REMEDY. *AK *SLC
BRAKES WOULD PULSATE WHEN APPLIED. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP 6 TIMES FOR PROBLEM. ROTORS NEEDED TO BE RESURFACED. THEN, TOOK TO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS FOR REPAIRS. CURRENTLY, HAS STEADY BANGING. PROBLEM NOT REPAIRED. REPRESENTATIVE SENT, BUT NOTHING SOLVED. HAD CONTACTED MR. GRATO AND MANUFACTURER . INFORMED NOT REPAIRING BRAKES FOR SEVENTH TIME. *AK THE VEHICLE HAD BRAKE AND TRANSMISSION LEAKING PROBLEMS. THE CONSUMER CONSIDERED THE VEHICLE LEMON, AND DECLINED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. *YH
FIRESTONE TIRE FAILURE STEEL BELT SEPARATION FROM THE TREAD. *MR THE CONSUMER PURCHASED TWO NEW TIRES FOR THE REAR OF HIS VEHICLE BECAUSE ONE OF HIS ORIGINAL TIRES HAD A SLOW LEAK. THE CONSUMER WAS NOT AWARE THAT THE TIRE DEALER REPLACED THE TWO REAR TIRES WITH FIRESTONE TIRES. AFTER THE NEW TIRES WERE INSTALLED THAT CONSUMER WIFE BEGAN TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE VEHICLE WOBBLING WHILE DRIVING. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL PEP BOYS SO THEY COULD CHECK THE TIRES. DURING THIS CHECK THEY INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE TREAD ON ONE OF THE REAR TIRES HAD SEPARATED AND THAT WAS WHAT WAS CAUSING THE CAR TO WOBBLE WHILE BEING DRIVEN. *NM *SC
CAR HAS BEEN AT DEALER OVER 10 DAYS FOR FRONT END PULL LEFT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS--ZONE REP WAS CALLED AND CLAIMS PULL IS NORMAL. I FEEL IT'S VERY UNSAFE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. *AK
AT ANY SPEED OR AT ANY STOP VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT ANY INDICATION. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED . PLEASE PROVIDE FIURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
THE VEHICLE PULLS LEFT CONTINUOUSLY DUE TO DEFECTIVE FRONT END. YH
THREE OCCUPANTS COULD NOT SAFELY SIT IN THE REAR SEAT WITH THE SEAT BELTS ON DUE TO THE DESIGN OF THE SEAT BELTS. *AK THE BELT BUCKLE ARRANGEMENT IS FACTORY REVERSED, THE LEFT BUCKLE IS BEHIND CENTER SEAT PASSENGER , THE CENTER SEAT BUCKLE IS BEHIND LEFT SEAT PASSENGER YOU CAN'T HOOK UP BELTS. *YH
REAR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT DOES NOT FIT ONE OF THE PASSENGER'S, AND HYUNDAI DOES NOT OFFER EXTENDERS FOR THE BELTS. PROBLEMS STILL EXISTS. *AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES MODERATELY, AT SPEEDS FROM 20-25MPH, THERE IS A THUMPING NOISE PRESENT. DEALER HAS SEEN VEHICLE 2 TIMES AND CAN'T FIX IT. *AK
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED STEERING ABILITY GETS VERY DIFFICULT AND VEHICLE CUTS OFF WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING, CUTTING OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION WHICH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER, DEALER HAS YET TO REPLACE PARTS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
THE RIGHT FRONT MICHELIN TIRE HAD A BUBBLE PROTRUDING FROM THE TIRE (195/65/14). NLM
STICK SHIFT FAILS TO LOCK IN PLACE AFTER SHIFTING. IF IT'S BUMPED, WOULD SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL. CAN SHIFT FROM ONE GEAR TO ANOTHER WHEN BARELY TOUCHING IT OR BRUSHING AGAINST IT. *AK
I WAS INVOLVED IN A (HIT & RUN) REAR END ACCIDENT. REAR END DAMAGE ONLY. BOTH AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. FRONT END IS NOT ALIGNED. I'VE ALREADY CONTACTED HYUNDAI ABOUT THIS INCIDENT.*AK
OWNER LIVES OVER 60 MILES TO NEAREST DEALERSHIP, WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF IF RECALL (00V-259) COULD BE DONE BY A MASTER MECHANIC AT HYUNDAI'S EXPENSE. *CJ
WHILE DRIVING 70 TO 75 MPH VEHICLE HIT A GUARDRAIL HEAD-ON AND NEITHER DRIVER'S SIDE NOR PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. ALSO, AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON, AND GAS FUMES WERE PRESENT. NO ONE HAS SEEN VEHICLE. *AK
WHILE FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP, VEHICLE BUCKED OR SURGED FORWARD BEFORE I COULD REACH PARK TO TURN OFF THE CAR. NOTICE SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HOOD.
THE CAR HESITATES, WHEN I PRESS THE BREAKS THEN GAS, THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED. I WAS TAKING MY CHILDREN TO DAY CARE SEVERAL TIMES THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AFTER I STOPPED AT THE STOP. THEN PROCEEDED. MY 4 YRS OLD SON NOTICED WHEN THE CAR STOPPED COMPLETELY AND I HAD TO START IT AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAD PUT SOME PARTS AT THE CAR BUT IT KEPT DOING THE SAME THING AFTER SEVERAL OF WEEKS, MY NAE USED TO BE FRANCES STEVENS WHEN THE CAR WAS BOUGHT. I DONT REMEMBER WHEN I BOUGHT IT BECAUSE I JUST MOVED AND THE PAPERS ARE IN BOXES, I DID SEND THE PAPERS THAT THE DEALER GAVE ME TO SEND TO MOTOR VEHICLE IN CONNECTICUT OF THE FOUR TIMES THAT THE CAR WAS TAKING INTO REPAIR AND MOTOR VEHICLES HAS NOT RESPONDED. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME I DONT WANT TO GET KILLED IN THAT CAR WITH ME AND MY CHILDREN. I WILL SEND A 2ND REQUEST TO THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLE IN CONNECTICUT SO THEY CAN GET THIS RESOLVED.*AK

FRON/TLEFT RESTRAINT BELT RETRACTOR WOULD LOCK UP DURING ALL BRAKING MANEUVERS, AND WILL NOT RELEASE TO ALLOW MOVEMENT OF DRIVER. DEALERSHIP HAS EXAMINED VEHICLE AND REPLACED DRIVERS RESTRAINT BELT RETRACTOR. PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN ELIMINATED, AND IT STILL LIMITS MOVEMENT OF DRIVER. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / ATTACHMENTS.*AK
3 MONTHS AFTER BUYING MY CAR, THE TRANSMISSION GASKET CRACKED AND THEY HAD A RECALL ON IT WHO KNOWS HOW LONG I DROVE BEFORE IT FINALLY FROZE. THEY FIXED IT BUT NOW IM HAVING PROBLEMS LIKE SLIPPING, BUCKING AT STOPP LIGHTS AND A TINGY SOUND WHILE EXCELLERATING THE DEALER SAYS THEY TESTED AND FINDS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT . SO ALL OF US WITH THIS PROBLEMS ARE JUST IN A CONFUSED STATE HUH. *AK
THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOYED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. *YH
BEGINNING @ 3,000+ MILES THE VEHICLE STALLED AS I WAS SLOWING DOWN ON AN EXPRESSWAY TRAFFIC JAM. AT THAT TIME THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR WAS REPLACED. THIS PART WAS LATER RECALLED. AT 18,000+ IT STALLED AGAIN (LAST JULY); A DIFFERENT COMPONENT WAS REPAIRED. IN SEPTEMBER IT STALLED AGAIN. I WAS TOLD IT WAS PARTLY DUE TO THE FACT I NEEDED TO USE HIGHER OCTANE GASOLINE IN THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WAS STILL REPAIRED AS A WARRANTY ITEM. LATE DECEMBER IT STALLED AGAIN. IT DIDN'T BEGIN REPEATING UNTIL JANUARY 2002. I TOOK THE CAR IN ON 1/5/02. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR 12 DAYS WAITING FOR A COMPONENT HAVING TO DO WITH THE CRANK SYSTEM. THEY WERE UNABLE TO IDENFY THE PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL DAYS, IT WON'T REGISTER ON THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. THEY CONSULTED THE MANUFACTURER. THE REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE CAME TO SEE THE CAR. THE CAR WAS DELIVERED TO ME ON 1/17/02 SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED. IT STALLED AGAIN TWICE THE NEXT DAY 1/18/02. THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. IT STALLS AS I'M SLOWING DOWN TO COME TO A STOP SIGN AND PARTICULARLY WHEN MAKING A TURN OF ANY SORT. NOW I'M BASICALLY PETRIFIED TO RIDE IN THE VEHICLE AND AFRAID THEY'LL NEVER BE ABLE TO ACCURATELY IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. I CAN'T USE THE LEMON LAW BECAUSE THERE WEREN'T 3 SERVICE TICKETS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WITHIN THE FIRST 12,000 MILES. THEY SAY THEY'VE RE-CHECKED THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR, BUT IT'S WORKING PROPERLY. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!*AK

SPEEDOMETER WILL NOT READ PROPERLY, RESPONDING TO THE VEHICLES' SUDDEN BURST OF HIGH RPM. THE OWNER STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER GAUGE REGISTERED 120 MPH. THE DEALERSHIP IS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE CAUSE AT THE TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES RIGHT AFTER FAILURE OCCURED. THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED SOME TEST BUT RETURNED THE VEHICLE BACK WITHOUT ANY ADJUSTMENTS MADE. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. TS

THE VEHICLE'S CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO T HE DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED A PART. THE CONSUMER DOES NOT KNOW WHAT PART WAS REPLACED BUT NOW THE LIGHT HAS ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE CAUSE IS UNKNOWN. PLEASE PROVODE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NM
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WITH NO WARNING. DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR FOUR TIMES. *AK
