TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO DECELERATE, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED A LOUD BANGING NOISE. SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING, THE STEERING SEIZED AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DROPPED TO THE GROUND. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE CONTROL ARM WAS SEVERELY CORRODED AND FRACTURED IN TWO PIECES. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V125000 (SUSPENSION: FRONT: CONTROL ARM) AND ALSO, THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER THE CORROSION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,026.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATED. THIS MARKED THE THIRD SUCH INCIDENT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR AN AIRBAGS DEFECT AND RECEIVED A REPLACEMENT AIRBAG WIRE KIT AND VINYL COVER ON 12/12/2008 AT 60,414 MILES. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP, THEY FOUND THAT THE SIDE AIRBAG FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT HAD TOO MUCH RESISTANCE BECAUSE THE WIRING HARNESS HAD FALLEN FROM THE PROTECTIVE BRACKET. TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE, THE DEALERSHIP TIGHTENED THE CONNECTOR AND SECURED IT TO A PROTECTIVE BRACKET WITH A ZIP TIE. THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED THE WORK UNDER THE TWELVE-MONTH/ 12,000-MILE SERVICE AND PARTS GUARANTEE STEMMING FROM THE REPAIR FOR THE PREVIOUS INCIDENT IN WHICH THE AIRBAGS BECAME INOPERABLE BECAUSE OF A POOR CONNECTION AT THE PSAB CONNECTOR UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. *TR
I HEARD A NOISE IN THE REAR OF MY HYUNDAI ELANTRA 02 AND UPON BRINGING IT TO A SERVICE STATION WAS INFORMED THAT THE LEFT REAR CROSS MEMBER WAS CORRODE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRABLE. THERE WAS A CURRENT RECALL FOR THIS SAME ISSUE, HOWEVER THE 02 ELANTRA WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. THIS LEFT ME WITH AN 11 YEAR OLD VEHICLE THAT HAD NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND HAD BEEN HOUSED INSIDE A GARAGE IN INCLEMENT WEATHER THAT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING, GASOLINE SPEWED OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
MY FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY VALVE. IT TAKES ME A VERY LONG TIME TO PUMP GAS BECAUSE THE CAR SHUTS THE PUMP OFF LIKE MY TANK IS ALREADY FULL. I EVEN HAD GAS SPILL OUT WHILE I WAS STILL PUMPING. I STARTED TO BECOME VERY CONCERNED WHEN I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH ON THIS PARTICULAR INCIDENT. WHAT REALLY GOT ME CONCERNED IS WHEN IT SAID IF THIS PROBLEM IS NOT TAKEN CARE OF, IF I WERE TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AND MY CAR OVERTURNED, IT COULD POTENTIALLY CATCH A FIRE! I HAVE TWO CHILDREN, AND GOD FORBID SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN WHEN IM IN MY CAR WITH MY CHILDREN. *TR
AS I ATTEMPT TO PUMP GAS, THE PUMP CONTINUOUSLY STOPS AS IF MY TANK IS FULL EVEN WHEN THE GAS GAGE READS EMPTY. IT TAKES 20 MINUTES TO PUMP A FULL TANK OF GAS. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. CURRENTLY THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL IN EFFECT DESCRIBING MOVEMENT OF THE AIR BAG WIRING HARNESS UNDERNEATH THE FRONT SEAT. I VISUALLY CONFIRMED THE AIRBAG WIRING HARNESS UNDERNEATH THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT HAS BEEN DISLODGED. I SPOKE WITH HYUNDAI 112 [631-758-2200] AND HYUNDAI [800-633-5151]. BOTH TIMES I'VE BEEN INFORMED THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE MY CAR IS NOT WITHIN THE VIN RANGE OF THE RECALL. *TR
A CONTROL ARM FAILED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE WILDLY INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND THEN BACK ACROSS THE ORIGINAL LANE. COLLISIONS WITH OTHER VEHICLES AND A WHEELCHAIR-BOUND PEDESTRIAN WERE BARELY AVOIDED. THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN CORRECTED THROUGH A RECALL WHEN THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR ISSUES OF ROTTING CONTROL ARMS. THE RECALL "REPAIRS" WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN DONE ON MARCH 12, 2011, AT WHICH TIME THE MILEAGE WAS 60,380.
2002 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RECALL NOTICE CONCERNING FRONT STEERING OR CONTROL MECHANISMS, RUST AND POTENTIAL FAILURES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED ON MARCH 10, 2010, SHE WENT TO THE DEALER AFTER RECEIVING A RECALL NOTICE. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DETERMINED THE PARTS DID NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. ON JANUARY 31, 2012, THE SAME PARTS THAT WERE THE SUBJECT OF THE RECALL FAILED. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE STEERING FAILED, THE VEHICLE WAS VIOLENTLY FORCED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHICH NEARLY RESULTED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION AND WAS THEN VIOLENTLY FORCED BACK ACROSS THE LANE IN WHICH SHE HAD BEEN TRAVELING, NARROWLY MISSING ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED AS IT COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THE CONSUMER HAD OTHER PROBLEMS SUCH AS THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATING, DUE TO AN INTERNAL FAILURE OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND A BROKEN REAR SPRING, AS WELL AS WEAK STRUTS. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE THAT WAS FOLLOWING THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY BUT THE PASSENGERS SIDE AIR BAG DID. THE POLICE WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR INJURIES TO HER CHEST AND SHOULDER BLADES. THE DOCTOR DIAGNOSED HER WITH A CHEST CONTUSION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 65 MPH WHEN SHE HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A TIRE BLOWOUT. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER AND NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S WHEEL WAS TURNED OUTWARD. THE CONTACTS INSURANCE COMPANY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE CONTROL ARM WAS RUSTED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V125000 (SUSPENSION; FRONT CONTROL ARM) ON 7/17/2009. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THIS WAS STILL A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT HAVE AN ADEQUATE REPAIR. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 67,000. UPDATED 01/03/12*LJ UPDATED 01/12/12
2002 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE WENT OUT OF CONTROL WHILE DRIVING *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED ON JULY 7, 2009 SHE TOOK HER VEHICLE TO THE DEALER DUE TO A RECALL NOTICE SHE RECEIVED. THE PROBLEM WAS SUPPOSEDLY CORRECTED. ON NOVEMBER 18, 2011, WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE CONSUMER HEARD A NOISE WHICH SOUNDED LIKE A TIRE BLOW OUT. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE WENT OUT OF CONTROL. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO HOLD ON TO THE STEERING WHEEL AND SAFELY SKIDDED ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. UPON CHECKING THE TIRES, SHE NOTICED THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL ENDED PERPENDICULAR TO THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP. AN ADJUSTER CAME OUT TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THE LOWER LEFT CONTROL ARM HAD ROTTED OUT. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THE SENSOR ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,300. WHILE DRIVING DOWN MY RESIDENTIAL STREET, MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DETONATED FOR NO REASON. THE CAR WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT OF ANY KIND. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED HYUNDAI, WHO MADE ME DO ALL SORTS OF PAPERWORK, SAYING THEY WOULD INVESTIGATE AND HAVE AN ANSWER AS TO WHETHER THEY WOULD REPLACE THE AIRBAG, RIPPED UPHOLSTERY AND NOW BROKEN SEAT BELTS. THEY CLAIMED THEY WOULD HAVE AN ANSWER WITHIN 6-8 WEEKS OF RECEIVING MY PAPERWORK. THEY RECEIVED IT ON OCTOBER 3, 2011. I STILL DO NOT HAVE AN ANSWER, AND NOW HYUNDAI WILL NOT RESPOND TO MY EMAILS. *TR

I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LAKELAND AUTOMALL HYUNDAI, WHICH ADVISED THAT THE AIRBAGS WERE INOPERABLE BECAUSE OF A POOR CONNECTION AT THE PSAB CONNECTOR UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. LAKELAND AUTOMALL HYUNDAI "REPAIRED PIN TENSION AND VERIFIED CONCERN WAS CORRECTED." I ASKED WHETHER THE DEFECT WAS COVERED UNDER THE AIRBAGS RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE. LAKELAND AUTOMALL HYUNDAI CLAIMED THAT THIS DEFECT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE AIRBAGS RECALL. IT BILLED ME $102.72. *TR
EACH TIME I AM GOING TO FILL UP THE GASOLINE TANK, THE MACHINE STOPS AND IT ACTS AS IF THE GASOLINE TANK IS FULL. I HAVE TO PUT ONE DOLLAR AT A TIME UNTIL THE TANK IS FULL. *TR

I WAS RECENTLY IN A CAR ACCIDENT WHICH WAS MY FAULT, HOWEVER THE AIRBAG DID NOT GO OFF OR WAS NEVER THERE TO BEGIN WITH ( ITS A USED CAR). THE CRASH WAS HEAD ON AND THE AIRBAG MOST DEFINITELY SHOULD HAVE GONE OFF. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST UNTO THE ROAD SHOULDER AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS A HOLE IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR DUE TO THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, ATTEMPTING TO PARK, THE CONTACT HEARD AN UNUSUAL NOISE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND HIT A CURB WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CLOSEST AUTO SHOP FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THEY STATED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE CONTROL ARM HAD FRACTURED. IN APRIL OF 2010, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER A RECALL WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V125000 (SUSPENSION: FRONT: CONTROL ARM). THE REMEDY REPAIR WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AND DID NOT PREVENT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000. WHEN PUMPING GAS, THERE SEEMS TO BE A BLOCKAGE OF SOME SORT. THE GAS PUMP KEEPS KICKING OFF AS IF THE TANK WERE FULL. IT TAKES A VERY LONG TIME TO PUT A FEW GALLONS OF GAS IN THE TANK. THIS HAPPENS AT ALL SERVICE STATIONS, EVERY TIME GAS IS PUMPED. *KB
2002 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO UNINTENDED ACCELERATION *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED AS HE WAS PARKING THE VEHICLE, IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED FORWARD UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONSUMER PUT THE GEAR IN REVERSE, AS THE TIRES SCREECHED. HE WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER WENT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE INSPECTED, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. *JB
I OWN A 2002 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHEN I BOUGHT IT USED IN 2005 IT RAN VERY QUIET. A FEW MONTHS AGO I NOTICED IT SEEMED A LITTLE LOUDER. LAST WEEK THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC. FOUND OUT THERE IS A CRACK IN THE MANIFOLD. I AM AWARE THAT MANY OTHER 2002 ELANTRAS HAVE THIS PROBLEM, AND THAT THERE WAS ACTUALLY A RECALL ON SOME OF THEM. MY CAR HOWEVER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI CONSUMER ASSISTANCE DEPT. AND WAS SENT TO THEIR DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE CAR CHECKED OUT AFTER WHICH I WAS TOLD THAT THE CRACK IN MY MANIFOLD DID NOT MATCH THE ONES THAT THE RECALL COVERED. HOW RIDICULOUS. OBVIOUSLY THEIR IS A PROBLEM WITH ALL OF THE MANIFOLDS IN THESE 2002 ELANTRAS OTHER WISE THEY WOULD NOT ALL BE CRACKING. THE REPAIR IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND I THINK IT IS UNFAIR THAT ANY VEHICLE OWNER SHOULD BE MADE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR BEING TOLD THE CRACK IS DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR. *TR

CANISTER HAS RUPTURED CLOGGING VENTS AND VACUUM LINES WITH CHARCOAL PELLETS. CONDITION CAUSES NO MECHANICAL OR PERFORMANCE ISSUES. SLOW, SPUTTERING FILL IS ONLY SYMPTOM. POSSIBILITY OF FIRE AT PUMPS. I FILL PERSON IS EXPOSED TO FUEL AT TIME OF FIRE INJURY HIGHLY LIKELY. *TR

2002 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GT MANUAL TRANSMISSION - REPLACED CLUTCH ON 10/13/09 AFTER CLUTCH WENT. REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AFTER NO GRAB ON CLUTCH AGAIN!! ON WAY TO JOB INTERVIEW LAST NIGHT AND CLUTCH PEDAL STUCK, FLUID LEAKING FROM UNDER CAR, LOST ALL CONTROL OF VEHICLE & HAD TO HAVE SOMEONE PICK ME UP!!!! I SEE I AM NOT ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM AS YOUR WEBSITE IT RIDDLED WITH SIMILAR COMPLAINTS!! SOMEONE HAS TO DO SOMETHING SOON BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED AND/OR KILLED IF NOT ALREADY!!!!!!! WHILE PERFORMING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ON OUR 2002 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GT, I DISCOVERED A RUST HOLE IN THE DRIVERS SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM. THE HOLE IS APPROXIMATELY 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER LOCATED ABOUT 4 INCHES INWARD OF BALL JOINT ON THE UPPER PORTION OF THE CONTROL ARM. THE AREA SURROUNDING THE HOLE APPEARED TO BE VERY THIN AND BRITTLE. THE VEHICLE HAD 138000 MILES AT THE TIME THE ISSUE WAS NOTICED. WE HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AND THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE CONTROL ARM. IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS TOO EARLY IN THE CARS LIFE TO HAVE A MAJOR STRUCTURAL COMPONENT BEGIN TO DETERIORATE DUE TO RUST. OF THE OTHER CARS WE HAVE OWNED, NONE HAVE DISPLAYED SIMILAR RUST TO THIS, EVEN AFTER 10+ YEARS OF USAGE. *TR
SOMETHING HIT CAR OVER DRIVERSIDE WINDSHIELD AND DOOR DURING TRANSPORT. INSURANCE TOTALED. AIRBAG LIGHT ALREADY ON. BEFORE SETTLING WITH INSURANCE CO, BOUGHT TAG AND INSURANCE. BOUGHT CAR BACK FROM INS CO. DROVE UNTIL TAG EXPIRED.CAN"T GET SALVAGE TITLE UNTIL AIRBAG LIGHT IS FIXED. TOOK IT TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN MONTGOMERY AL. MY VIN# IS [XXX]AND THE RECALL I AM LOOKING TO HAVE DONE IS NUMBER 088 WHICH IS LISTED EVERYWHERE FROM MOTOR TREND TO AUTOMOTIVE.COM AS THE EXACT PROBLEM ON MY DAUGHTERS VEHICLE FOR 2001 AND 2002 ELANTRAS. ON 08/06/10 WHILE DRIVING MY CAR IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA, I HEARD A LOUD "POP" SOUND COME FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. I IMMEDIATELY LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR, BUT WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT. AT THAT TIME, I DISCOVERED THE FRONT AXLE HAD ACTUALLY BROKEN (PASSENGER SIDE) AND WAS DRAGGING THE GROUND. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM (A 2002 HYUNDAI ELANTRA- I CONTACTED FIRST TEAM AUTO MALL WHERE I HAD BOUGHT IT NEW), AND ADVISED THE SERVICE PERSONNEL OF WHAT HAD JUST HAPPENED. THEY ADVISED THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO LOOK AT MY CAR FOR SEVERAL DAYS, SO I HAD IT TOWED TO ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP. I PAID $632.89 TO REPLACE THE LOWER CONTROL ARM, INCLUDING SWAY BAR/LINK KIT AND RE-ALIGNMENT. ON 09/28/10 I FOUND A LINK ONLINE TO A WEBSITE DETAILING MULTIPLE RECALLS FOR 2002-2003 HYUNDAI ELANTRAS- RECALLS HAD BEEN RECOMMENDED IN SEVERAL AREAS NEAR ME, BUT NOT IN MY PARTICULAR STATE. THE RECALL INVOLVED ROAD SALT CAUSING CORROSION TO THE LOWER CONTROL ARM, WHICH COULD CONTRIBUTE TO BREAKAGE. THE REPAIR SHOP I TOOK MY CAR TO THAT DAY COULD NOT TELL ME HOW THE DAMAGE HAD OCCURRED; THEY SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE. I ALSO NOTICED ON 09/28/10 A RECALL REGARDING LEAKAGE OF BRAKE FLUID; I HAVE HAD TO REFILL THE BRAKE FLUID IN MY CAR TWICE IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS (I HAD NEVER HAD TO DO THIS BEFORE MAY OF THIS YEAR AND I'VE HAD THE CAR SINCE 2002). I AGAIN CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, WHO ADVISED ME THERE ARE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE. OBVIOUSLY, THE PROBLEMS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALLS ARE HAPPENING/HAVE HAPPENED TO MY CAR, AND POSSIBLY OTHER CARS IN THE STATE OF VIRGINIA. I ASK THAT YOU PLEASE RE-EVALUATE THE RECALL CRITERIA AND EXPAND THE RECALL TO INCLUDE ANY AND ALL VEHICLES THAT COULD POSSIBLY BE AFFECTED. THE DEALER WAS INFORMED ABOUT THE FAILURE AND THEY STATED THAT THE VAPOR CANISTER MUST BE CLOGGED WITH GRAVEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT IT MUST BE A DESIGN FLAW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 33796.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HER RESIDENCE SINCE THE DEALERSHIP WAS CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WILL BE TOWED TO THE DEALER WITHIN A FEW DAYS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THERE WAS NO RESOLUTION. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 115,000.

THE DEALER ADVISED THE FRONT SUB FRAME WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ADVISED THE FRAME WAS ALREADY REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIR. NO FURTHER REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000.

THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AFTER THE 12TH OF APRIL AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS STILL ON BACK ORDER AND THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF WHEN IT WOULD ARRIVE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED WITH HAVING HER VEHICLE OUT OF SERVICE FOR SUCH AN EXTENDED AMOUNT OF TIME; SINCE HER MEDICAL CONDITION REQUIRED HER TO MAKE SEVERAL TRIPS TO HER PHYSICIAN.
