AS I AM DRIVING THE CAR THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON AND STARTS FLASHING AND AT THE SAME TIME THE RADIO AND THE CLOCK SHUT OFF. THE TIRE LIGHT STOPS FLASHING WITHIN THIRTY SECONDS TO A MINUTE. I ALSO CAN NOT USE MY KEY FOB TO LOCK MY DOORS UNTIL THE CAR HAS RESET. USUALLY CAR WILL RESET BETWEEN FIVE MINTUES TO AN HOUR. (WHERE I CAN PLAY THE RADIO AND SEE THE CLOCK ETC,) THIS IS STARTING TO HAPPEN MORE AND MORE NOW. THE CAR IS FOUR YEARS OLD. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I AM STARTING TO GET TIRED OF THIS AND WANT IT TO STOP. I WAS REALLY UPSET THAT DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR; WHEN CLEARLY IT HAS A PROBLEM WITH IT. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM?
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AFTER 100,000 MILES. MY CAR IS OUT OF THE INITIAL WARRANTY. DEALERSHIP WANTS TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC FOR 115$, NOT INCLUDING PARTS OR LABOR FOR FINDINGS. THE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING AND IN MOTION. AT FIRST, IT CAME ON AND OF, THEN STAYED ON.
AIRBAG LIGHT COME ON YESTERDAY (9-19-17) WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND WILL NOT TURN OFF NOW. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE, IT APPEARS TO BE A RATHER COMMON PROBLEM. ALSO STATED AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION.
MY CAR INTERMITTENTLY WON'T START. IT HAPPENED FOR THE THIRD TIME IN 10-11 MONTHS JUST TWO DAYS AGO AND IS IN THE SHOP AGAIN. THE SHOP HASN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT, BUT THE LIGHTS HAVE NEVER BEEN LEFT ON NOR HAS A DOOR BEEN LEFT AJAR BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T ALLOW ME TO SET THE ALARM IF THIS WERE THE CASE AND THE ALARM HAS BEEN SET CORRECTLY EACH TIME. LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED, 6 MONTHS AGO, THEY PERFORMED A TEST ON THE BATTERY AND IT TESTED POOR SO THEY REPLACED IT CONVINCED THAT WAS IT, THOUGH I TOLD THEM I DIDN'T THINK THAT WAS THE ISSUE WITH IT. NOW, ONE OF MY WARRANTIES HAS TIMED OUT, BUT IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN WITH A BRAND NEW BATTERY. I DID A SEARCH AND SOMEONE POINTED ME TO THIS WEBSITE BECAUSE OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE WITH IT. I AM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE BEST WAY TO GET THE DEALERSHIP TO CORRECTLY IDENTIFY WHAT THE ISSUE IS SO IT CAN BE FIXED ONCE AND FOR ALL. I HAVE SEEN, IN THE SEARCH I DID, THAT OTHERS MENTIONED THINGS LIKE THE SHIFT INTERLOCK, RANGE SWITCH, FAULTY RAIN SENSOR, SHIFTER ASSEMBLY, OR SHIFTER ASSEMBLY CABLE. I AM WONDERING IF THIS IS A COMMON COMPLAINT WITH THIS CAR? THE CAR WAS SITTING IN MY GARAGE AND HAD BEEN DRIVEN WITH NO ISSUES LESS THAN 24 HOURS BEFORE. IT WAS SO DEAD IT WOULDN'T EVEN UNLOCK USING THE KEY FAB. I USED THE KEY TO UNLOCK THE DOOR, NO LIGHTS WENT ON, IT WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK CAME, THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THE CHARGER TO BE ABLE TO MOVE IT OUT OF THE GARAGE ONTO THE TRUCK AND WITHIN JUST A FEW SECONDS THE CAR'S LIGHTS TURNED ON AND THE ALARM STARTED GOING OFF. HE WAS ABLE TO START IT AND DRIVE IT ONTO THE TRUCK THEN WITH NO ISSUES. I HAVE INVOICES FROM THE PAST SHOWING WHAT TESTS WERE PERFORMED, BUT ESSENTIALLY THEY HAVE TESTED THE ALTERNATOR AND STARTER AND SAID THEY TESTED FOR A PARASITIC DRAW, BUT SO FAR THE ONLY ACTUAL FIX THEY HAVE DONE IS TO REPLACE THE BATTERY 6 MONTHS AGO.
THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON MY 2013 ELANTRA WILL NOT GO OUT, I FIRST SAW THE YELLOW SKID LIGHT COME ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SMOKE PROFUSELY WHILE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS BEING DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE WAS PERSISTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (ADVANTAGE HYUNDAI, 440 PLAINVIEW ROAD, HICKSVILLE, NY 11801) WHERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.
OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS THE CAR WILL GET SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND A BLANK SPACE WILL GO WHERE THE D IS SUPPOSED TO NEXT TO THE SPEEDOMETER. UPON STOPPING AND TRYING TO PARK, THE GEAR SHIFTER GETS STUCK IN NEUTRAL AND WILL NOT MOVE TO PARK. YOU MUST RESTART THE CAR IN NEUTRAL JUST TO PUT IT IN PARK. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST THREE TIMES IN THE PAST TWO YEARS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKES AND THE STOPPING DISTANCE INCREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 859-635-6400 AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. A CASE NUMBER WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES FOR ABOUT 1 1/2 YEARS. THE RADIO TURNS OFF WHEN BREAKING AND SIGNALING. NOT EVERY TIME BUT ABOUT 2/3 OF THE TIME. OCCASIONALLY THE DASH WILL GO OUT. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKER (ALL THE TIME) AS WELL AS THE HEAD LIGHTS. NOT SURE ABOUT THE BACK LIGHTS BECAUSE I CAN'T SEE THEM BUT I ASSUME. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DOES NOT LIGHT UP SOMETIMES. NO BARS ARE DISPLAYED. THE TRIP COMPUTER RESETS AT LEAST 4 TIMES A WEEK. THE AVG MPG, MPH, TRIP A AND B WILL START OVER AT 0.0. TURNING LEFT MAKES THE CAR SHUTTER AND TURN OFF IN MID TRAFFIC OR WHEN IN A DRIVE THRU. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP/STIFF STEERING. THE EPS LIGHT COMES ON. HAVE TO TURN CAR OFF AND BACK ON TO ALLEVIATE THE ISSUE. WHILE THE CAR IS IDLING WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER ON THE CAR WILL CYCLE AND JUST ABOUT TURN OFF
OUR CRUISE CONTROL (CC) SWITCHES ON THE STEERING HAVE STOPPED WORKING! THE BEHAVIOR WAS UN-PREDICABLE AND DANGEROUS FOR WHILE WHEN HITTING CANCEL BUTTON WOULD "ENGAGE" THE CC. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IT COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS. I BELIEVE THIS IS DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN ON THE CONNECTOR THAT CONNECTS THE WIRES FROM THE CC SWITCHES TO THE STEERING CASE. THE CONNECTOR IS PLACED RIGHT UNDER THE HORN COVER AND WE BELIEVE THE CONNECTOR GETS SQUEEZED EVERY TIME THE HORN IS USED. I TESTED THIS MYSELF AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE CC TO WORK AFTER LIFTING THE HORN COVERS FORWARD SECTION WHICH REDUCED THE PRESSURE FROM THE CONNECTOR RIGHT UNDERNEATH IT ! WHEN I DID THIS, HITTING THE CC. ONCE AGAIN THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE CAUSE DRIVERS COULD ASSUME THEY ARE DISABLING THE CC, WHEN THEY COULD ACTUALLY BE ACTIVATING CC WHICH WILL CAUSE ACCIDENTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE ESC WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED FROM 30 MPH TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NORTH COUNTY HYUNDAI OF CARLSBAD (LOCATED AT 5285 CAR COUNTRY DR, CARLSBAD, CA 92008, (760) 929-4900) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE OR DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
UNKNOWN. THE BRAKES ARE HAVING DIFFICULTY HOLDING UP ON THE STREET WHILE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. ONCE STOPPED OR STOPPING, THERE IS A SLIGHT HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT WHEELS AS IF THE CAR IS HAVING TROUBLE STAYING IN PLACE. THE BACK LEFT TAIL LIGHT OCCASIONALLY FLICKERS ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING AND CONTINUES TO FLICKER WHEN TAPPED. THE BRAKE LIGHT IS COMPLETELY OUT NOW AND HAS BEEN ADJUSTED BEFORE WITHOUT REPLACEMENT OF THE BULB. WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET AND NIGHT THERE ARE RARE MOMENTS WERE THE BRAKE LIGHT AND TAIL LIGHT WILL WORK AGAIN. THE STEERING WHEEL HAS A HARD TIME MOTIONING AND POSITIONING ITSELF WHEN DRIVING FROM FIVE TO TWENTY MILE AN HOUR, WHEN TURNING AND WHILE MAKING A U-TURN. NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V574000
I WAS DRIVING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY AT ABOUT 5 MPH WHEN MY ESC INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. BOTH OF MY FRONT BRAKES IMMEDIATELY LOCKED UP. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF THINKING THAT WOULD RESET THE SYSTEM. WHEN I STARTED IT BACK UP THE INDICATOR LIGHT WAS STILL ON AND THE BRAKES WERE STILL LOCKED UP. I THEN TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK OFF AND UNPLUGGED MY BATTERY HOPING THAT WOULD DO IT. STILL THE SAME PROBLEM. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF SITTING THERE THE BRAKES FINALLY RELEASED AND I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO MY HOUSE. THE LIGHT WAS AND STILL IS ON BUT THE BRAKES ARENT LOCKED UP AT THIS TIME. IM JUST AFRAID OF IT HAPPENING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE AT FASTER SPEEDS. IT WOULD MOST CERTAINLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AT THE VERY LEAST. I HAVE 4 KIDS AND A WIFE AND MY WIFE IS USUALLY THE ONE WHO DRIVES THE CAR. IM JUST THANKFUL IT DIDNT HAPPEN UNDER DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES OR IT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC.
THE CAR INTERMITTENTLY WON'T START. SOMETIMES IT STARTS ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT. SOMETIMES ON THE FIFTH. SO FAR, I HAVEN'T HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED, BUT I NEVER KNOW WHEN THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER TWICE AND AN INDEPENDENT CAR SHOP ONCE, AND THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS HAPPENING; A RECALL IS NEEDED.
MY VEHICLE HAD AN ONGOING WATER LEAK INTO THE REAR HATCH AREA AND UNDER INTO THE SPARE TIRE AREA UNDER THE CARPET/REMOVAL FLOOR. THE LEAK COULD NOT BE TRACED FOR MONTHS AND CAME AND WENT. FINALLY FROM ANOTHER OWNERS HELP WE TRACED IT TO THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF. THE OUTER PLASTIC "FRAME" THAT HELPS SUPPORT AND FIT THE SUNROOF TO THE CAR CRACKED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR. IT WAS APPROXIMATELY ABOVE THE REAR SEAT HEADREST OR JUST BEHIND IT UNDER THE HEADLINER. DROPPING THE HEADLINER WAS NECESSARY TO FIND THE CRACK AND LEAK. IF THE CAR SAT ON A SLIGHT INCLINE WITH THE REAR OF THE CAR AT THE LOWEST POINT ABOUT .5" OF WATER WOULD ACCUMULATE INTO THE SPARE TIRE AREA OVER TIME. GRANTED THE AMOUNT OF WATER THAT LEAKED IN DEPENDED ON HOW MUCH IT RAINED AND FOR HOW LONG. ALSO DURING THIS SAME TIME THAT THE LEAK WAS ONGOING, THE SUNROOF WOULD MAKE EXCESSIVE CREAKING AND NOISE WHEN DRIVING OVER UNEVEN PAVEMENT. I CANT HELP BUT ASSUME THAT THE CRACK WAS EITHER DEVELOPING OR ALREADY PRESENT WHILE THE NOISE WAS HEARD. THE SUNROOF ENDED UP BEING REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED IN JUNE OF THIS YEAR. ABOUT A MONTH AFTER PURCHASING, I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR NOT WANTING TO ACCELERATE AND THEN CAR LOSING POWER COMPLETELY ON INTERSTATE. MY FATHER CAME AND THE CAR STARTED RIGHT UP AND DROVE FINE. TWO WEEKS LATER SAME THING. MY MOTHER CAME TO GET ME AND WHEN SHE GOT THERE, THERE WAS NO POWER TO CAR BUT KEYS WERE STUCK IN ON POSITION AND CAR WAS STILL IN GEAR AS I HAD TO PULL EMERGENCY BRAKE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER. MY MOTHER TOLD TOW TRUCK DRIVER THAT BATTERY WOULD MOST LIKELY BE DEAD AS THE CAR HAD BEEN SITTING IN ON POSITION WAITING FOR TOW AND THEN TRIP TO DEALER. DEALER STATED BAD BATTERY AND CAR WAS OUT OF GAS. ALTHOUGH NO GAS WAS ADDED TO CAR BUT THEY PERFORMED ALL THEIR TESTS AND UPDATES TO ECM PER MANUFACTURER WITH CAR OUT OF GAS (BUT RUNNING). REPLACED BATTERY AND CAME OUT OF WORK NOT LONG AFTER AND CAR WOULD NOT START. I HIT STEERING WHEEL IN FRUSTRATION AND TRIED AGAIN AND CAR STARTED. DROVE IT HOME, LEFT IT IN ACCESSORY POSITION, LOST POWER. DID SAME THING AS BEFORE WITH HITTING STEERING WHEEL, STARTED AGAIN. RECENTLY MOVED AWAY TO COLLEGE, DROVE IT ALL DAY, WENT BACK TO MY PARENT'S HOUSE FOR A COUPLE HOURS WENT TO LEAVE AND THE KEYS WOULD NOT TURN (COULD NOT EVEN GET STEERING WHEEL UNLOCKED), IT SAT OVERNIGHT AT MY PARENTS FOR AT LEAST ONE NIGHT MAYBE TWO WHILE I DROVE MY MOTHER'S CAR. THE ORIGINAL DEALER CAME TO TAKE IT BACK AND SEE IF HE COULD FIGURE IT OUT, STARTED THE FIRST TIME HE TRIED TO START IT. TURNED IT OFF AND TRIED AGAIN AND HE COULD NOT GET STEERING WHEEL TO UNLOCK AND KEY TO TURN, WAITED A COUPLE MINUTES AND TRIED AGAIN AND IT HAS BEEN RUNNING FINE SINCE. THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM IS WILLING TO LET ME TRADE THE CAR BACK TO HIM FOR SOMETHING ELSE IF I CAN FIND SOMETHING I WANT BUT I LOVE MY CAR.
CAR STUTTERS, RPMS DROP, AND CAR STALLS WHEN IT COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP AT STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT. THIS HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING IN ALL CONDITIONS-- HOT/COLD, MORNING/EVENING, ETC. FOLLOWING THIS, CAR WILL BE DIFFICULT TO RESTART AND SLOW TO ACCELERATE; THEN RPMS RAISE TO 5 AND CAR GOES INTO GEAR. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE APRIL 2017 AND HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES. (4TH TIME TOMORROW)
CAR WAS PARKED WITH PARKING BREAK ENGAGED, WENT IN MY HOME, AFTER 15 MINS LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW AND CAR HAD SOME OUT OF PARK AND ROLLED INTO NEIGHBORS CAR CAUSING DAMAGE TO BOTH CARS
ON JULY 14, 2017, I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA AND WAS ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN AT A SIGNALIZED INTERSECTION AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 15 MILES PER HOUR. ABOUT MIDWAY INTO THE TURN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO COMPLETE THE LEFT TURN. IN ADDITION, I WAS BRAKING AND THE ABS BRAKING DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT RAN INTO A CONCRETE CURB. THE RESULT OF THE MALFUNCTIONS OF THE STEERING AND BRAKING ON MY 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA WAS DAMAGE TO THE FRONT RIGHT OF THE VEHICLE, INCLUDING BUMPER, WHEEL, TIRE, RADIATOR SUPPORT, ETC. I AM VERY THANKFUL THAT I WAS NOT HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE OR INJURED. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE - OR THE LACK THEREOF - ON JULY 14TH. SOMETHING HAPPENED AND NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO EXPLAIN IT DESPITE INSPECTING SCANNING CODES, ETC. THE VEHICLE ENGINE KEPT RUNNING, THE KEY WAS IN THE IGNITION, AND THERE WAS DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG(S). THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ELECTRIC ASSISTED STEERING AND BRAKING ON THE 2013 ELANTRA ACCORDING TO RESEARCH. I WANT TO MAKE YOU AWARE OF AN ADDITIONAL COMPLAINT REGARDING MY ELANTRA. THE DAMAGE REQUIRED REPLACEMENT FRIGHT FRONT WHEEL, RIGHT FRONT TIRE, RIGHT FENDER LINER AND INNER BRACKET, RADIATOR SUPPORT, RIGHT HINGE PILLAR, RIGHT LOWER CONTROL ARM, RIGHT FENDER, PAINTING AND 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THE VEHICLE STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND LOCKED EVEN THOUGHT THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. THIS MALFUNCTION PROHIBITED ME FROM TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL AND COMPLETING THE LEFT TURN SAFELY. THE BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED AS IT DID NOT STOP THE VEHICLE AND I NOTICED A SLOW ABS SOUND VERSUS THE TYPICAL VERY RAPID ABS SOUND WHEN HARD BRAKING. THE MALFUNCTION OF THE STEERING AND THE BRAKES COULD HAVE CAUSED A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE BUT FORTUNATELY DID NOT.
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON ON MY DASHBOARD A FEW DAYS AGO AND HAS BEEN ON EVER SINCE. I HAVE READ ON SEVERAL ONLINE FORUMS HOW SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND HOW THIS MEANS THAT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY DURING A COLLISION. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND THE DEALERSHIPS SHOULD BE CHARGING OVER $250 TO CORRECT THIS DEFECT. I HAVE NOT YET BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, BUT I DON'T WANT TO WAIT UNTIL THEN FOR SOMEONE TO TAKE ACTION. THANK YOU.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE'S SUN ROOF SHATTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE BATTERY DIED AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE JUMPSTARTED IN ORDER TO GET TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. TRANSMISSION FEELS LIKE IT IS SLIPPING. DIFFICULT SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE OR REVERSE. THE CAR JERKS AND LURCHED WHEN IN GEAR AND DRIVING WHETHER SPEEDING UP OR D LOSING DOWN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD NOT TURNED ON INDICATING A PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP RECALIBRATED THE TRANSMISSION LAST WEEK AND THE CAR WAS RETURNED TO THE SHOP WITHIN 24 HOURS WITH THE SAME ISSUE MAGNIFIED. THE DEALERSHIP NOW SAYS THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. WHEN THE ISSUE FIRST PRESENTED I WAS IN MOTION ON A BUSY CITY STREET. PREVIOUSLY THE CAR HAD A FAULTY RANGE SWITCH THAT WAS INTERMITTENT AND TOOK 6 MONTHS TO DUPLICATE FOR THE DEALERSHIP. THEIR INITIAL FIX WAS TO ADJUST THE SWITCH, A YEAR LATER THE ISSUE RETURNED AND THEY REPLACED THE SWITCH AT THAT TIME. WONDERING IF THE TWO ISSUES ARE RELATED.

THE AIRBAGS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND I AM READING HUNDREDS OF STORIES ONLINE JUST LIKE MY EXPERIENCE. HYUNDAI SHOULD RECALL THIS ISSUE AND KEEP DRIVERS SAFE! I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND A CAR WITH AIRBAGS FAILING AFTER LESS THAN 5 YEARS! I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE.

THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE BEGAN TO SMOKE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE TIRE THREAD HAD TORN AND CAUSED THE TIRE WALL TO CAVE INWARDS. THE CONTACT HAD A CERTIFIED MECHANIC REPLACE THE TIRE WITH A SPARE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE DOT NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
THE CAR IS NOT COVERED ON THE CAMPAIGN #146 EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE'S MAKE, MODEL & YEAR WERE CORRESPONDING TO THE RECALL. IT THEN KILLED MY CAR BATTERY BY USING THE BATTERY TO POWER THE BREAK LIGHTS WITH THE CAR OFF AND KEYS OUT THE CAR. IT WONT SHOW IF YOU ARE PRESSING THE BREAKS AND IT MAKES IT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS DRIVERS BEHIND YOU WILL NOT KNOW IF YOU ARE HITTING THE BREAKS. PLEASE ADVISE THEM TO BROADEN THE RECALL #146 AS THIS AFFECTS MANY DRIVERS.
"TAKATA RECALL" MY HUSBAND, DAUGHTER, AND I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT WITH A DRIVER OF A MINI VAN WHO BLEW A STOP SIGN ON A CITY STREET. THE DRIVER OF THE VAN WAS TICKETED. THE VAN'S AIRBAGS WENT OFF AS THE PHOTO SHOWS. OUR 2013 ELANTRA AIR BAGS DID NOT AS THE PHOTOS SHOW. I WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. ALL OF US HAD SEATBEALTS ON BUT I SUFFERED BLUNT CHEST TRAUMA AND A CONCUSSION. THE VEHICLE AIRBAG BOOK SAYS THEIR IS A SENSOR IN THE FRONT CENTER OF THE CAR THAT DETECTS 30 DEGREES EITHER WAY. LOOK AT THE PHOTOS - FAILED TO DETECT AND DEPLOY IN OUR CASE.

THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED AND THE REAR VIEW MIRROR HOUSING BROKE APART ALONG WITH THE METAL PIECE USED TO ATTACH THE MIRROR. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 75MPH WHEN I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND SAW THE REAR VIEW MIRROR EJECTED LIKE A PROJECTILE. THE GLASS HAD SEVERAL CRACKS RUNNING THE LENGTH OF THE WINDSHIELD, ORIGINATING FROM THE METAL PIECE THAT HELD THE REAR VIEW MIRROR. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A ROCK OR FLYING DEBRIS FROM THE ROAD THAT CAME THRU THE WINDSHIELD. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THAT THE ORIGIN OF THE CRACKS AND POINT OF BREAKAGE WAS FROM THE INSIDE OF THE CAR. THERE WAS NO NOTICEABLE IMPACT ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD, NOT EVEN A MINOR SCRATCH TO INDICATE SOMETHING HAD HIT IT FROM THE OUTSIDE. THERE WERE SEVERAL PIECES OF GLASS ON THE INSIDE WHERE THE METAL PIECE BROKE OFF WITH SOME GLASS STILL GLUED TO IT. THE PIECE THAT CONNECTED THE MIRROR TO THE METAL PIECE SHATTERED INTO 3 PIECES. I AM UNSURE OF WHAT CAUSED THIS, BUT IT IS CONCERNING TO KNOW THIS COULD HAPPEN TO OTHER DRIVERS.
ON FRIDAY, MAY 26 2017, AT 7AM WHILE DRIVING ON CURVE, THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT RIM BROKE APART AND THE TIRE FLEW COMPLETELY OFF. THE CAR CRASHED TO THE PAVEMENT WHERE THE WHEEL HAD BEEN. THE ROAD HAD RECENTLY BEEN RESURFACED SO THERE WERE NO POT HOLES OR HAZARDS. HYUNDAI WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT IN ADMITTING THIS WAS A DEFECTIVE RIM. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO SACRAMENTO HYUNDAI, WE WERE TOLD, 'IT'S AN INSURANCE ISSUE'. THE INSURANCE SAID, 'IT'S A MANUFACTURER ISSUE'. THEN WE CONTACTED SAFE-GUARD REGARDING THE PLATINUM PROTECTION PROGRAM PURCHASED WITH THE VEHICLE, AND WERE TOLD THAT IT'S NOT COVERED BECAUSE IT'S A DEFECT AND THEY DON'T COVER DEFECTS.

MY CAR HAS BEEN SITTING IN OUR DRIVEWAY SINCE MAY 4TH NOT BEING DRIVEN BECAUSE WE DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT NOT KNOWING IF THE AIRBAGS ARE GOING TO WORK IF WE NEED THEM TOO AND WE WERE TOLD TO NOT USE IT BY HYUNDAI UNTIL SOMEONE FROM HYUNDAI COULD COME AND INSPECT THE CAR, WHICH THEY NEVER DID. I ALSO HAVE ALL THE PHONE CALLS WE HAVE EVER MADE TO HYUNDAI WRITTEN DOWN INCLUDING TIMES, DATES, WHO WE TALKED TO AND WHAT WE TALKED ABOUT, ALL THE EMAILS SENT BACK AND FORTH WITH HYUNDAI WE ALSO HAVE PRINTED. IT HAS GOTTEN TO A PINT NOW THAT WE ACTUALLY GOT THE BBB AND THE NORTH CAROLINA STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL INVOLVED. I LET THEM KNOW THAT "NONE" OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD START A CASE. I ALSO LET THE COMPANY KNOW WHERE THE CAR WAS BEING SENT WHICH WAS A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN TOWN AND ASKED IF THEY WOULD CHECK THE AIRBAGS WHICH "NEVER HAPPENED". THE CAR WAS REPAIRED AND WE PICKED UP THE CAR ON MAY 4TH 2017. WE HAVE BEEN IN CONSTANT CONTACT WITH HYUNDAI ABOUT THE AIRBAG SITUATION AND WE FEEL THAT THEY NEVER REALLY TOOK IT SERIOUSLY. MY WIFE'S CAR HAS BEEN SITTING IN OUR DRIVEWAY SINCE MAY 4TH, 2017 NOT BEING DRIVEN DUE TO (A) MY WIFE BEING AFRAID OF THE CAR AND NOT FEELING SAFE INSIDE. (B) NOT KNOWING ABOUT THE AIRBAGS AND THE "ONGOING INVESTIGATION". FAST FORWARD TO TODAY SEPTEMBER 20TH, 2017 I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM HYUNDAI SAYING THAT DUE TO THEM NOT BEING ABLE TO CHECK THE CAR AND AIRBAGS OUT "POST-ACCIDENT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANY FAULTS IN THE AIRBAGS, AND THEN THEY GO NO TO SAY THAT THE ELANTRA'S SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO DEPLOY IN A ROLLOVER ACCIDENT. MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING AT BETWEEN 60 AND 65 MPH WHEN SHE LOST CONTROL OF HER ELANTRA AND I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY (A) DID NOT CHECK THE AIRBAGS WHEN THE CAR WAS AT A CERTIFIED DEALER/REPAIR SHOP AND (B) WHY THEY ARE TELLING US THAT THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO DEPLOY IN A ROLLOVER. FROM THE RESEARCH THAT I HAVE DONE IN ANY ROLLOVER THE SIDE IMPACT AND SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS ARE SUPPOSED TO DEPLOY IN A ROLLOVER. I DO HAVE PICTURE AND EMAILS FRO THE ACCIDENT AND EMAILS FROM HYUNDAI.

CRUISE CONTROL SWITCHES DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY ON THIS 2013 ELANTRA GT. THE "SET" BUTTON DOSE NOT ENGAGE OR ACTIVATE CRUISE CONTROL. IT "CANCELS IT. HOWEVER, PRESSING THE CANCEL' BUTTON DOES NOT DIS-ENGAGE OR STOP THE CRUISE CONTROL IT ACTUALLY ACTIVATES IT. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

I BOUGHT A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA LIMITED NEW. 3 YEARS LATER THE CAR STALLS OUT WHEN STOPPED AND IT DIFFICULT TO START. HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP SO MANY TIMES (10) WITHIN A 2 MONTH PERIOD, I USE THE LOANER MORE THAN MY OWN CAR. THE LAST TIME I PICKED IT UP THEY HAD CHANGED OUT THE TIMING COVER WITH OIL PUMP, CAM SHAFT AND TIMING CHAIN. CALLED ME TO COME PICK MY VEHICLE UP AS IT WAS READY. WHEN EXITING THE DEALERSHIP, I CAME TO THE STOP LIGHT AND THE CAR STALLED ONCE AGAIN WITH IT BEING DIFFICULT TO START. TURNED AROUND AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DRIVE FASTER THAN 20 MPH. THE SERVICE MANAGER CAME OUT AND ASKED WHAT WAS WRONG. I ASKED HIM TO GET IN THE VEHICLE THAT THEY HAD JUST FIXED. HE DROVE IT AND THEY NOW HAVE MY CAR ONCE AGAIN AND I'M DRIVING THE LOANER. THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND SAY THEY KEEP CALLING THE MANUFACTURER FOR INPUT. DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD AT LESS THAN 30 MPH HEARD A LOUD BANG AND WHEEL FLEW OFF CAR. UPON INSPECTION, THE WHEEL SNAPPED IN HALF LEAVING PART STILL ATTACHED TO THE CAR AND THE OTHER HALF ATTACHED TO THE TIRE WHICH WAS NO LONGER ON THE CAR.
CPSC:PURCHASED SYLVANIA H11 SILVERSTAR BULB REPLACEMENT FOR CAR HEADLIGHT THAT SHORTLY AFTER TURNING HEADLIGHT ON EXPLODED IN MY FACE DURING INSTALLATION IN WALMART PARKING LOT LEAVING VERY PAINFUL BURNS STINGING AND BLEEDING FROM GLASS SHARD LACERATIONS TO EYE, FACE AND HAND THEN HAD INTENSE HEADACHE NOSEBLEED NOT WELL FEELING IN GENERAL....RINGING IN EARS AND BURNS CONTINUE TO BE EXTREMELY PAINFUL NEXT DAY THOUGH BLEEDING HAS STOPPED. *BF UPDATED 04/17/2017*JS
