I WENT OUT TO START CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START...I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES AND FINALLY HELD THE KEY AS FAR A IT WOULD GO AND IT CRANKED. I TOOK IT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER AND THEY KEPT IT OVER NIGHT. THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. NEXT MONTH SAME THING HAPPENED ONLY THIS TIME I COULD NOT START IT. I CALLED HYUNDAI DEALER AND THEY TOWED THE CAR AND KEPT IT FOR A WEEK. THE CAR STARTED RIGHT BACK UP FOR THEM AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THE BATTERY IS GOOD AND EVERYTHING COMES ON LIKE THE RADIO AND WIPERS BUT DOESN'T START. THE ONLY THING THE TOW GUY DID WAS TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL TO GET IT ON THE TOW TRUCK. WHEN I WENT ON LINE TO FIND YOU ALL I SAW SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, MY WARRANTY GIVES OUT IN A FEW HUNDRED MILES AND I AM AFRAID THAT WHEN IT DOESN'T START AGAIN I WILL NOT BE COVERED. TWICE IN A MONTH A PART MY CAR REFUSED TO START BOTH TIMES THE HYANDAI DEALER KEPT THE CAR OVER NIGHT AND THE NEXT FOR A WEEK. THEY COULD NOT FIND WHAT WRONG WITH IT. ONCE THE TOW GUY TOOK IT IN AND PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL TO GET IT ON TOW TRUCK....WOULDN'T YOU BELIEVE IT IT STARTED RIGHT UP. THE BATTERIES ARE GOOD AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL ITEMS COME ON .....BUT NO START. MY WARRANT WILL EXPIRE IN A COUPLE OF HUNDRED MILES AND I AM WORRIED I WILL NOT BE COVERED THE NEXT TIME. AND THERE WILL BE A NEXT TIME. I AM A SINGLE PARENT WITH KIDS AND FEEL VERY VULNERABLE ABOUT THIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA.WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THE SUN ROOF FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED AT A DEALERSHIP. AS I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON THE INTERSTATE I RAN OVER A PART OF THE INTERSTATE THAT WAS POT HOLES BUT FILLED IN. AS I RAN OVER THE AREA, MY BACK END STARTED TO FISH TAIL. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 04/18/2015 AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS WRONG AND THAT I NEEDED TO BE AWARE THAT MY CAR WAS CONSIDERED A SPORTS CAR AND IT WOULD HANDLE DIFFERENTLY THAN A REGULAR CAR AND THE BACK END BEING "LOOSE" WAS NORMAL. THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS ADJUSTED BUT I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM ALTHOUGH NOT AS BAD AND IT IS ONLY ON CERTAIN "BUMPS" IN THE ROAD THAT THE VEHICLE TRIES TO FISH TAIL.
MY 2013 ELANTRA STARTED MAKING A TAPPING NOISE SO I TOOK IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. IT SEEMS MY 3 YEAR OLD VEHICLE NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. THAT WAS ALMOST THREE WEEKS AGO AND I AM STILL WAITING. NEITHER MY DEALER NOR HYUNDAI CAN GIVE ME AND ETA AS TO WHEN THE CAR WILL BE REPAIRED. THIS WAIT IS UNACCEPTABLE AND FROM WHAT I GATHER FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER AND THE POSTS ON THIS SITE, I AM NOT ALONE. MY RESPECT FOR HYUNDAI HAS CRATERED AND WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HYUNDAI. *TR
SINCE I BROUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW IN JUNE OF 2012 I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT TIRE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE BROUGHT NEW TIRES AND THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON ALL THE TIME. POHANKA REPLACE THE VALVE STEM BACK IN AUGUST. NO THEY ARE TELLING ME I HAVE TO REPLACE THE SENSOR 3 AND REGISTER THE TMPS SENSORS FOR $220.00 AND I ALSO HAVE BEEN REPLACING THE HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS MORE THEN I LIKE TOO. VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER. I PREVIOUSLY OWNED AN 2002 HYUNDAI ELANTRA BROUGHT IT BRAND NEW I HAD IT FOR 10 YEARS AND DIDN'T THIS MUST PROBLEM AND HAD 262,000 MILES ON THAT CAR. I LOVE THE NEW MODEL BUT SHOULDN'T BE HAVING THIS MANY PROBLEMS. *TR
DRIVING ABOUT 60 MILES A HOUR THEN THE HIGHWAY DECLINED AN ELEVATION. THEN A SHATTERING SOUND HAPPENED AND NOTICE THE CRACKS ON THE SUNROOF . THE WHOLE SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED. I IMMEDIATELY COVER THE SUNROOF. *TR
MY SON HAD AN ACCIDENT ON THE STREET WHERE WE LIVE COMING HOME ONE NIGHT, HE FELL ASLEEP AND HE RAN INTO A PARKED PICK UP ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE STREET AND THE HAD LOTS OF FRONT END DAMAGE, THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. HE HIT HIS FACE ON THE STEERING WHEEL DURING THE ACCIDENT, THE AIR BAG(S) DID NOT DEPLOY. MY SON'S FACE WAS HORRIBLY SWOLLEN, HE ALSO ENDED UP WITH A BLACKEN, BLOOD SHOT EYE AS WELL AND I HAD TO TAKE HIM TO THE DOCTOR TO SEEK MEDICAL TREATMENT.

WHEN TRAVELING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD OR UNLEVELED LAND AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE SWAYED BACK AND FORTH AS IF THE SUSPENSION WERE UNSTABLE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE PROGRESSED EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AND DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TIRES ARE DAMAGE AND MANUFACTURER NOR HYUNDAI WANTS TO REPLACE THEM EVEN THOUGH IS A SAFETY ISSUE
WHEN GOING OVER ANY ROAD DEFECTS OR ABNORMALITIES, WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, I HAVE BECOME AWARE OF HOW THE SUSPENSION IS ON THIS VEHICLE MAKES NOISES, FISHTAILS, AND SEEMS TO BOTTOM OUT WITH ANY SPEED BUMP. REAR WHEELS SEEM TO LOSE TRACTION WHEN HITTING ANY TYPE OF SMALL HOLE, CRACK, OR DROP IN ROAD FLATNESS. SUSPENSION ALSO SWAYS AWKWARDLY WITH CERTAIN TURNS. ONLY GETTING MORE AND MORE NOTICEABLE AS THE CAR CONTINUES TO AGE. *TR
2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA HAD AN ACCIDENT DUE TO UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. WAS PULLING ONTO MY PARKING SPOT, WHEN THE CAR JUST ACCELERATED BY ITSELF, CAUSING ME TO CRASH INTO MY BUILDING. *TR
THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE, WHEN HITTING ANY TYPE OF BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE REAR OF THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO FISHTAIL, WORSE ON WET ROADS. THE ABS BRAKES WORK AND THEN THEY DON'T, THE STEERING WILL FEEL LOOSE AND THEN TIGHT. I HAVE NOTICED THERE IS A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CAR FEELING LIKE IT IS GOING TO FISHTAIL OR HAS WHEN HITTING BUMPS AND YET, NO RECALL IS FORCED ON HYUNDAI. I GUESS IT TAKES A FATALITY TO GET ANYTHING DONE. A CAR SHOULD NEVER FEEL LIKE IT IS GOING TO FISHTAIL WHEN HITTING BUMPS. THE ENGINE HESITATES WHEN GOING UPHILL OR WHEN ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED QUICKLY.
AT SPEEDS ABOVE 40MPH THE CAR HAS AN ISSUE WITH DRIVING STRAIGHT. WHEN DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE YOU HAVE TO CONSTANTLY CORRECT THE VEHICLE FROM SWERVING. THE CAR CONSTANTLY WANTS TO PULL TO THE LEFT FOR NO REASON, AND NO MOVEMENT IN THE STEERING WHEEL CAN BE FELT. I FEEL THE VEHICLE IS TOO UNSAFE TO DRIVE FOR MY WIFE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE. WITH JUST UNDER 30,000 MILES ON A 2013 ELANTRA GT, BOUGHT NEW, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 4 TIRES AFTER DRIVING OVER BAD ROAD CONDITIONS. 1 FLAT TIRE AND 3 BUBBLES IN THE SIDEWALLS. HYUNDAI REPLACED THE TIRES WITH THE SAME MODEL AS FACTORY ORIGINAL, BECAUSE I BOUGHT THEIR ROAD HAZARD COVERAGE. 2 TIRES IN ONE WEEK THIS PAST MARCH 2015 AND PREVIOUS TIRE JAN 2014 AND JUNE 2014. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED, IT STARTED MOVING AND ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO NUMEROUS VEHICLES WHILE IT CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED BROKEN RIBS, AS WELL AS HEAD AND LEGS INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
I PURCHASED A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GT WITH THE STOCK (UPGRADED AS PART OF HYUNDAI'S 'STYLE' PACKAGE) 17-INCH RIMS AND STOCK "NEXEN" BRAND 215/45-17 TIRES ON MARCH 2ND, 2015. ONLY AN HOUR LATER, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE HAD A BUBBLE ON IT FROM HITTING A VERY SMALL AND SHALLOW POTHOLE AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED. THE FOLLOWING MORNING, AT THE SAME RATE OF SPEED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE HAD A BLOWOUT, ALSO AFTER HITTING A SMALL, VERY SHALLOW POTHOLE. THE REAR TIRES HAVE NO DAMAGE AS OF YET. IN ONLY 2 DAYS I WILL HAVE TO HAVE REPLACED 2 TIRES. I LOOKED THIS UP ONLINE AND FOUND THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON OCCURRENCE, REPORTED BY DOZENS OF PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY WITH THESE SIZE RIMS (ALTHOUGH OTHERS HAVE REPORTED IT HAPPENING WITH THE STOCK 16-INCH RIMS AND STOCK "HANKOOK" BRAND TIRES. HYUNDAI DENIES ANY FAULT ON THEIR PART AND WILL NOT COVER WHEELS/TIRES WITHOUT AN OPTIONAL PROTECTION PLAN. I HAVE HAD TO ORDER BRAND-NEW 16-INCH RIMS AND 16-INCH TIRES OF A BETTER BRAND/QUALITY AT MY OWN EXPENSE OUT OF FEAR FOR MY SAFETY WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. THE FACT THAT HYUNDAI PROVIDES THESE WHEELS/TIRES WHEN BUYING A CAR IS BEYOND ME, AS THEY MUST HAVE HAD COMPLAINTS OF THIS NATURE BEFORE AND IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF THESE SAFETY ISSUES. I HAVE HEARD IT MAY HAVE TO DO WITH THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE (AS WELL AS THE HEAVY WEIGHT DISTRIBUTED TO THE FRONT WHEELS), THE EXTREMELY STIFF AND RIGID SUSPENSION, RIMS THAT ARE TOO BIG FOR THIS VEHICLE, AND LOW-QUALITY STOCK TIRES. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS COMPLAINT BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED DUE TO THIS GLARING DEFECT. BETTER TO STOP IT NOW BEFORE INJURIES, DEATHS, AND A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT OCCUR. DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY WITH LIGHT RAIN. TEMPERATURE APPROX 34 DEGREES. WHILE AT SPEED LIMIT (65MPH) THE MOON-ROOF EXPLODED! NOT SIMPLY SHATTERED BUT EXPLODED. (INSIDE 'SUN' COVER WAS OPEN AT THE TIME) THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD WITHIN 1/2 MILE OF ME. I DID NOT JUST PASS UNDER A BRIDGE AND NO CONSTRUCTION ON THE ROADWAY AT THE TIME OF THE EXPLOSION. ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF CAR BUT MANAGED TO MAINTAIN UNTIL I COULD PULL OVER ON SIDE OF ROADWAY. SUFFERED MINOR CUTS TO SCALP, FACE AND NECK (NOTHING THAT REQUIRED HOSPITALIZATION). SIGNIFICANT SHARDS OF GLASS THROUGHOUT THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR AND SOME MINOR DAMAGE TO PAINT SURFACE FROM SHARDS OF GLASS HITTING THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR; REAR ROOF OF CAR AND REAR DECK LID OF TRUNK. LODGED COMPLAIN WITH CORPORATE HYUNDAI (HAVE CASE NUMBER), ALSO WENT TO LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP GAVE THEM CASE NUMBER AND HAD THEM TAKE PHOTOS. DEALERSHIP INITIAL REACTION IS THAT GLASS IS NOT COVERED. THEY SUSPECT THE DROPPING TEMPERATURE MAY HAVE HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT. I HAVE ESCALATED MY CLAIM WITH HYUNDAI CORPORATE; ASKING UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES THAT THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURE DEFECT, THAT THEY COVER ALL COSTS OF REPAIR. AWAITING THEIR RESPONSE. *TR
AFTER BACKING INTO A PARKING SPACE PUT THE SHIFTER INTO PARK IT THE INTERMENT PANEL SAID IT WAS IN REVERSE. COULD NOT GET THE TRANSMISSION OUT OF REVERSE AND SHIFTER WOULD NOT MOVE.. TOWED TO DEALER DEALER SAID THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE SONATA HAD WITH TRANSMISSION LINKAGE FALLING OFF THE SHIFTER. FIXED THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF THE ELANTRA GOT A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THE CAR DID NOT START! I DROVE TO PICK UP MY SON, TURNED OFF AND PARKED THE CAR, GOT MY SON, WENT BACK IN THE CAR, AND THE CAR DID NOT TURN ON. I COULD HEAR THE NOISE OF THE STARTER. A. 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA AND AFTER 3 WEEKS THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE WENT OUT AFTER BARELY HITTING CURB AROUND BY SEPTEMBER 2014, THE DRIVERS TIRE WAS DEFLATING REPLACED. ON 2/10/2015 THE TIRE IN REAR WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, THE DEALERSHIP SAYS IT COULD BECAUSE A NAIL GOT INTO THE TIRE AND CAUSED THE PROBLEM. IT JUST SEEMS A BIT UNUSUAL FOR 3 TIRES IN LESS THAN A YEAR OF OWNING THIS VEHICLE, WHICH WAS NEW PURCHASED JULY 2014. 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. *TR

I BOUGHT A USED 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA WITH 29,802 MILES ON IT ON OCTOBER 6, 2014. BY FEBRUARY 2015 I STARTED HEARING A TAPPING NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND A NOISE WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL WHICH STOPPED WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. I TOOK IT TO A HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN FEBRUARY 2015 AND IT WAS DETERMINED I NEEDED MY ENGINE REPLACED. HYUNDAI AGREED TO REPLACE IT UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. I HAD 32,500 I BELIEVE MILES ON IT. THE DEALERSHIP HAD MULTIPLE CARS SITTING ON THEIR LOT WHICH NEEDED THEIR ENGINES REPLACED. WHILE I WAS WAITING FOR A RENTAL CAR BUSINESS TO COME PICK ME UP AT THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TO GET ME A RENTAL CAR TO DRIVE WHILE MY CAR WAS WAITING TO BE FIXED, I SPOKE TO A COUPLE WHO CAME IN TO DROP OFF THEIR RENTAL CAR. THEIR 2012 HYUNDAI ELANTRA NEEDED AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT AS WELL--AT 23,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THESE CARS HAD ENGINE PROBLEMS MORE OFTEN IN THE NORTHEAST DUE TO THE MORE SEVERE WEATHER IN THE WINTER. I SO REGRET EVER BUYING MY FIRST EVER HYUNDAI VEHICLE! *TR
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA GL WITH HANKOOK OPTIMA MODEL 426 205/55R/16 TIRES. I DID ALL ROTATIONS AT 6000 MILES AND ALIGNMENTS ONCE A YEAR AS THE CAR MANUFACTURER SPECFIES. THIS VEHICLE IS ALSO EQUIPPED WITH A TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPS). WHICH NEVER INDICATED ANY PROBLEMS WITH PROPER INFLATION. EVEN WITH FULL TREAD THESE TIRES HAD ALMOST ZERO TRACTION IN ANY WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE THERE WAS ANY ACCUMULATION OF RAIN OR SNOW. THESE ARE STATED AS ALL SEASON RADIALS AND THEY DO NOT PERFORM AS SUCH. MY TIRES WERE DOWN TO THE WEAR BARS 3/32' TREAD LEFT WITH 29791 MILES ON THE ODOMETER.THE MANUFACTURER LISTS THESE AS 50,000 MILE RATED TIRES. WHEN I QUESTIONED HYUNDAI THEY REFERRED ME TO HANKOOK TELLING ME THE MANUFACTURER KNOWS ALL ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRE AND IS HANDLING ALL COMPLAINTS I CONTACTED HANKOOK CUSTOMER SERVICE AT 800-426-5665 AND SPOKE WITH [XXX] AT EXT. 616 I WAS FIRST TOLD ALL I NEEDED TO DO WAS HAVE A ONE OF THEIR LOCAL TIRE DISTRIBUTORS VERIFY TREAD DEPTH.I HAD THE TIRES REPLACED AT TOWN FAIR TIRES. THEN I ASKED THE MANAGER AT TOWN FAIR TIRES TO CALL THEM TO VERIFY. WHICH HE WAS HAPPY TO DO.THE STORY CHANGED TWO DAYS LATER THE MANAGER CALLED AND WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT, HE CALLED ME I CALLED THEM AND THEN THEY REMEMBERED THE CONVERSATION AND SAID" THEY WOULD CALL HIM BACK". THEN HE WAS TOLD THEY NEEDED PICTURES EMAILED TO THEM OF THE TIRES. AN HOUR LATER I WAS TOLD BY HANKOOK THEY NEED THE ACTUAL TIRE SKINS. SINCE IT HAD BEEN THREE DAYS SINCE I HAD THE TIRES REPLACED THE DISTRIBUTOR'S RECYCLERS HAD ALREADY PICKED UP THE TIRES AND THEY WERE NO LONGER AVAILABLE. ALL I WAS LOOKING FOR WAS THE INDUSTRY STANDARD TIRE ALLOWANCE FOR LACK OF PERFORMANCE. WHICH NOW THEY ARE REFUSING TO DO FOR ME WITHOUT THE TIRES. CAN YOU HELP ME? THESE ARE DANGEROUS PRODUCTS ON OUR ROADS AND NEED TO BE REMOVED. *TR

I WAS COMING OFF OF INTERSTATE 95 ONTO MY EXIT AND I APPLIED MY BRAKE TO SLOW MY CAR BUT MY BRAKE APPARENTLY GAVE OUT AND WAS NOT WORKING . IT MAKE A LOUD SOUND LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO HOLD BUT IT DIDN'T AND IN ORDER TO STOP MY CAR FROM HITTING ANY OTHERS OR PEOPLE STANDING AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I TRIED STEERING IT TOWARD THE CLOSEST CURB SO THAT I COULD PREVENT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE WITHIN MY POWER. "TAKATA RECALL"MY STEERING WHEEL COLUMN RATTLES AND SHAKES WHEN I AM DRIVING. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE STEERING WHEEL IS GOING TO FALL OFF. THE STEERING WHEEL FEELS LOOSE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON TWO YEARS AFTER IT WAS BOUGHT. THE FASTER YOU GO THE WORST IT GETS. IT HAPPENS IN THE CITY AND HIGHWAY.
THERE ARE NO TRUE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS AS ADVERTISED SINCE ONE HAS TO TURN ON ALL THE OTHER RUNNING LIGHTS (AMBER FOR FRONT, RED IN REAR) IN ORDER FOR THE LOW BEAM "DRLS" TO FUNCTION. THIS IS ILLEGAL TO DO IN SOME STATES AND DRIVERS HAVE BEEN STOPPED, WARNED, AND EVEN TICKETED FOR THIS. THIS IS BOTH A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, AS WELL AS GROSS MISADVERTISING. *TR
AS OTHERS HAVE MENTIONED, I HAVE HAD BOTH PROBLEMS STARTING THE VEHICLE (THE CAR COULD NOT BE STARTED ON TWO OCCASIONS SO FAR, DESPITE HAVING ADEQUATE FUEL AND A CHARGED BATTERY), AND WITH THE REAR OF THE CAR SWINGING OUT WHEN TRAVELING OVER A BUMP OR ON SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS (EVEN AT SPEEDS AS LOW AS 35 MPH, THERE IS A NOTICEABLE KICK FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH HAS WORSENED WITH TIME). FOR BOTH CASES, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO FIND AN ISSUE, AND/OR SAID ANY KIND PROBLEM WAS "WITHIN TOLERANCE." *TR

NO FAULT CODES FOUND BY DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT. DEALER ADVISED THEY WILL TEST VEHICLE AGAIN TODAY (12/11/14) TO TRY TO REPLICATE ISSUE. ISSUE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES (8 TO 9) OVER A 24 HOUR PERIOD. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS CONDITION OCCURS RANDOMLY. EPS LIGHT WILL TURN OFF AND ESC LIGHT STAYED ILLUMINATED. VEHICLE RECOVERED ON ITS OWN WHEN EPS LIGHT TURNED OFF. BOTH LIGHTS WERE OFF THE FOLLOWING MORNING WHEN TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT. CONDITION HAS OCCURRED WHILE MAKING A U-TURN, PULLING OUT OF DRIVE WAY, AND WHILE MAKING LEFT AND RIGHT TURNS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SHAFFER HYUNDAI WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BAR FAILED AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EMITTING AN ODOR OF BURNING OIL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AND THE OIL AND BATTERY INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE WEBB HYUNDAI DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE REPAIRED SHORTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
MY SON WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ONE MORNING AND HE SAID HE BEGAN TO SEE A LIGHT GLOW FROM INSIDE THE ACCESSORIES COMPARTMENT ABOVE THE SHIFTER. HE STATED A COUPLE OF SECONDS LATER IT MELTED AWAY AND FLAMES WERE COMING FROM THE HOLE. WHEN REACHING 45-50 MPH, STEERING BECAME SO LOOSE THAT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO STAY IN MY LANE. PULLED OVER TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY APPARENT PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES, BUT NONE WERE SEEN. TRIED DRIVING AGAIN, SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AT ABOUT THE SAME SPEED (NOTICED IT AROUND 40 MPH THIS TIME). COULD NOT CONTINUE TRIP; HAD TO BE TOWED 50 MILES BACK TO INDIANAPOLIS. HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW (CLOSED FOR THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY TODAY). TRACTION CONTROL HAD BRIEFLY ENGAGED ABOUT 10 MINUTES EARLIER ON A SLICK AREA, BUT SEEMED TO BE AN APPROPRIATE RESPONSE, AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. NOT SURE IF THIS IS RELATED. *TR

I FEARED FOR MY LIFE, I SERIOUSLY FELT LIKE I WAS GOING TO LOSE CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE AND CRASH. I TRY TO AVOID THE FREEWAY AS MUCH AS I CAN. I DON'T KNOW IF THE BACK END IS TOO LIGHT WEIGHT OR WHAT, BUT THIS ISSUE REALLY NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. THE LOSS OF CONTROL OVER A VEHICLE IS A HUGE DEAL AND CAN LEAD TO FATALITIES.
MY HYUNDAI ELANTRA GT CAME WITH HANKOOK OPTIMO H426 215R45 17 TIRES. THESE ORIGINAL TIRES HAD LESS THAN 29,000 MILES ON THEM AT THE TIME THE DEFECT WAS NOTICED. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE HAD DEVELOPED A SERIOUS DEFECT/BULGE IN THE SIDEWALL AND HAD TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY AS THE TIRE COULD FAIL AND CAUSE VEHICLE LOSS OF CONTROL AND POTENTIALLY AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD CAUSE INJURY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED IF I HIT A SLIGHT BUMP OR IRREGULARITY IN THE ROAD REAR END OF CAR JUMPS AROUND.ON WET OR SLICK ROADS IT IS EVEN WORSE.FROM THE COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM.HYUNDAI NEEDS TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE.I MAY JUST TRADE IT AND GET A CAR THAT HANDLES THE WAY IT SHOULD.

THIS IS ACTUALLY THE THIRD HYUNDAI I HAVE OWNED, AND HAVE NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES LIKE THIS WITH THEIR VEHICLES. I HAVE ALWAYS FELT SAFE WHILE DRIVING THEM UNTIL THIS HYUNDAI ELANTRA 2013. ALSO WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, ANYWHERE FROM 45-65MPH THE DRIVING STABILITY FEELS UNSAFE AND THE VEHICLE WAVERS BACK AND FORTH ON THE HIGHWAY, HAVING TO ALWAYS CORRECT IT. WHEN IT IS WINDY IT IS EXTREMELY WORSE. I CANNOT BELIEVE HYUNDAI MADE A CAR THIS UNSAFE. DRIVING THIS WINTER I HAVE ONLY HOPED THAT THE JUMPING AND WAVERING DIDN'T CAUSE AN ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE A 2013 ELANTRA GT AND HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH WHEELS AND TIRES. IN THE WINTER OF 2013-14, I HAD THIS CAR FOR ONLY 4 MONTH AND STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH BUBBLES IN SIDEWALLS OF THE TIRES. THE ORIGINAL TIRES WERE KUMHO 245/45R17 TIRES AND BUBBLED OR WENT FLAT AFTER NORMAL DRIVING OR UPON ENCOUNTERING A BUMP OR POTHOLE. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH FALKEN 245/45R17 TIRES IN FEBRUARY OF 2014. IN NOVEMBER OF 2014, ANOTHER BUBBLE APPEARED AND A SECOND ON DECEMBER 4, 2014. IT IS A CONCERNING CONDITION OF UNSAFETY AND UNRELIABILITY WHEN A VEHICLES TIRES ARE SO PRONE TO DAMAGE. I WAS ABLE TO PURCHASE THE ROAD HAZARD WARRANTY WITH THE REPLACEMENT TIRES, BUT HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE AND THE 17" TIRES WILL BE CONSIDERED 'LOW PROFILE' GOING FORWARD AND REPLACEMENTS WILL NOT BE COVERED AND WILL NEED TO BE PAID OUT OF POCKET. NOT ONLY IS THIS A SCARY SITUATION, IT IS EXPENSIVE AND TIME CONSUMING. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS COMPLAINT AND THE MANY OTHERS THAT HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
CAR WOULD NOT START. AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS WITH HOLDING THE KEY ON START POSITION IT WOULD START AS NORMAL. IT WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO STATE THE ENGINE GROUND WIRES WERE CORRODED. IT'S A 2013 ELANTRA WHEN ASKED WHAT CAUSED THE CORROSION , THE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY DIDN'T KNOW BUT THEY HAVE HAD 8 OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ISSUE THIS MONTH.
