TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A LOUD TICKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WOODHOUSE HYUNDAI OF OMAHA (8410 S 145TH ST, OMAHA, NE 68138) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE SHORT BLOCK NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVER 100,000 MILES AND THEREFORE NO ASSISTANCE WOULD BE PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 133,000.
WHEN BRAKING THE BRAKE PEDAL SEEMED "SOFT" AND AFTER ABOUT 40 MILES OF DRIVING IT WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I HAD REACHED HOME BY THEN. THERE WERE DROPS OF FLUID ON THE PAVEMENT AFTER I BACKED IN AND PARKED.I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER AND INSPECTION REVEALED THAT NOT ONLY BOTH BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED THROUGH, BUT, THE FUEL LINES HAD ALSO RUSTED THROUGH AND WERE LEAKING.

AIR BAG SENSOR JUST WENT ON FIR NO REASON. TOLD STEERING WHEEL WOULD HAVE TO BE REMOVED AND COST WOULD BE CLOSE TO $400 FOR ENTIRE JOB. THIS SEEMS LIKE A DEFECT TO ME AS NEVER HAD ANY VEHICLES WITH THIS IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE.
IM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA WHICH I JUST TOOK IN TO LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER FOR OIL CHANGE AND TO ALSO SEE ABOUT GETTING AIRBAG MALFUNCTION WARNING LIGHT CHECKED OUT...THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NO RECALL ISSUED ON THIS CAR......HOW CAN THAT BE WITH SOMETHING AS DANGEROUS AS THAT?
113,000-114,000 MILES ON CAR. STARTED MAKING A TICKING NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE MOTOR. SOUNDED LIKE LIFTERS OR A HARD KNOCKING. PARKED AS SOON AS IT STARTED IT AND TOWED IT TO A SHOP. THEY SAID THE TICKING SOUND WAS MORE THAN LIKELY FROM THE PISTON ASSEMBLY. THEY CALLED IT A PISTON SLAP. HOWEVER UPON TAKING THE VALVE COVERS OFF THEY FOUND THE TIMING CHAIN WAS SLAPPING AROUND, BENT VALVES AND A BAD PISTON. OUR DAUGHTER DONE ALL OF HER OIL CHANGES REGULARLY AND DIDN'T HOTROD THE VEHICLE. SHE WAS ALSO GOING SLOW UP OUR DRIVEWAY WHEN IT HAPPENED. NO NOISE PRIOR TO THIS AT ALL.
SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR IN 2013, WE HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE PARKING LIGHTS, AND SOMETIMES HEADLIGHTS, COMING BACK ON AFTER BEING OFF FOR SEVERAL HOURS OR WE WAKE UP TO HAVING A DEAD BATTERY. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER AND OVER. IN 2013 I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED FOR SAME PROBLEM AND/OR DEAD BATTERY. NEVER HAPPENED AT DEALERSHIP. OUR SECURITY CAMERA HAS CAUGHT IT POPPING ON, OR LIKE YESTERDAY, OUT NEIGHBOR CALLED US (AGAIN) TO TELL US LIGHTS WERE ON. THIS IS WITH THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ALL THE WAY OFF. WE HAVE TRIED TO FIGURE IT OUT BUT CAN NOT. I DID REPORT AGAIN TO HYUNDAI THIS PAST FEBRUARY, MARCH, APRIL 2021. AGAIN, THE CAR WAS PARKED AND OFF EVERY SINGLE TIME WITH LIGHTS CONFIRMED OFF TO ONLY COME ON LATER WITH CAR OFF AND STILL LOCKED. IT HAS TO HAVE KEY IN IT TO START.
ENGINE MAKE TAPPING NOISE WHEN A COLD STARTING THE NOISE WILL SLOW DOWN WILL IT IS WORMING UP BUT YOU STILL HEAR IT WAS LOOK AT BY 2 DIFFRANT CAR SHOP REPAIR AND BOTH SAID IT COULD BE ROCKER ARM OR LEFFTERS
BOUGHT USED 3 WEEKS AGO AND IT DIED WHILE DRIVING ON INCLINE, HAS BEEN MAKING A TICKING NOISE, AND SLUGGISH, STEREO TURNED OFF BY ITSELF.
1. THE FABRIC ON THE SEATS IS NOT COLORFAST. ANY DROP OF CLEAN WATER LOOKS LIKE A STAIN WHEN IT DRIES. 2. MY STEERING WHEEL KNOCKS WHEN TURNED LEFT AND RIGHT, WHEN IN MOTION AND STATIONARY. IT IS THE U-JOINT BEHIND THE BREAK PEDDLE FROM THE STEERING COLUMN MAKING A KNOCKING/CLUNKING NOISE.
A TICKING/KNOCKING NOISE IS GOING ON IN THE ENGINE, POWERTRAIN. IT'S BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE AND IS WORSE IN COLD WEATHER. IT IS BELIEVED TO BE A VALVE TRAIN ISSUE. THE KNOCKING GETS WORSE WHEN I ACCELERATE, ALSO. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRAS, BUT THERE ISN'T A RECALL FOR THE ENGINE. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI AND THEY'VE BEEN SLOW TO RESPOND. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY WITH THE BUSINESS THAT I BOUGHT IT FROM. THEY'RE USING THE QUICK, TEMPORARY WARRANTY TO GET A NEW USED ENGINE, BUT I'M CONCERNED THAT THE SAME TICKING/KNOCKING NOISE WILL OCCUR WITH THE NEW USED ENGINE, BECAUSE THEY REFUSE TO USE A DIFFERENT BRAND ENGINE. I'D PREFER THAT HYUNDAI DO A STRAIGHT UP RECALL FOR THE ENGINES THAT CONSISTENTLY PERFORM THIS WAY - WITH A KNOCKING NOISE THAT HINDERS THE PERFORMANCE OF THE VEHICLE.
THE STEERING WHEEL HAS WEIRD NOICES THAT JERKS IN THE HIGH WAY. IT IS SCARY KEEPING CONTROL OF LANES.
I HAD TROUBLE GETTING THE VEHICLE TO STOP COMPLETELY, VERY SCARY AND NERVOUS. I HAD THE BRAKE PADS REPLACED AND THE MASTER CYLINDER. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, NOW THEY SAY IT IS THE ABS. THE VEHICLE HAS JUST PASSED 100K MILES. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE HAS BEEN MFG BRAKE PROBLEMS WITH THIS MAKE ,MODEL AND 2013. I WAS IN MOTION AND MY EMERGENCY BRAKE DID NOT WORK . I CONTINUE DOWN HILL AND TO AVOID ON COMING TRAFFIC,,I TURN TO THE RIGHT TO HIT THE FENCE. MY AIR BAGS NEVER OPEN. THA K GOD I ALWAYS WERE MY SEAT BELTS.

WE BELIEVE THAT THE MPG PROGRAM WHICH WE SUED FOR IS STILL BAD, AND WE NEED SOME RECALLS DONE ON THE CAR.
One day while driving on a smooth road, my steering wheel began shaking and has not stopped since. I've taken it to our mechanic who indicated my rotors are fine, which he said would normally cause shaking like that. The steering wheel makes a clinking sound with the slightest movement, and every time I brake I have to firmly hold the steering wheel due to the excessive shaking. Sometimes my EPS sensor will go off. My mechanic has replaced some parts-specifically a "plastic coupler" in the steering wheel, but this shaking keeps happening. After researching forums online many people have reported similar/same issues, and link it to a plastic coupler in the vehicle, that Hyundai says is not covered in any recalls.
I HAVE A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA COUPE GS, AND I HAVE HAD THE STEERING COUPLER ISSUE, THE BRAKE LIGHTS NOT TURNING OFF ISSUE, AS WELL AS THE COMPUTER SENDING THE WRONG SIGNALS AND WREAKING HAVOC CAUSING ME TO REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR, SPARK PLUGS, AND COILS ONLY TO FIND OUT A WEEK LATER THAT MY CAR DID IN FACT FALL UNDER TWO OF THE SPECIFIC RECALL NOTICES (BRAKE LIGHTS AND COMPUTER) AFTER HYUNDAI SAID IT DIDNT!. WHEN I CONTACTED HYUNDAI AGAIN IN REGARDS TO ALL OF IT IN MAY OR JUNE 2020, THEIR EXACT WORDS TO ME WERE "WHAT DO YOU WANT US TO DO ABOUT IT?" AND NOW, AFTER FINALLY GETTING THE COUPLER ISSUE RESOLVED IN NOVEMBER, MY EPS JUST ALL OF A SUDDEN QUIT WORKING WITH NO WARNING. I WAS DRIVING AND OUT OF NOWHERE, THE WHEEL VIOLENTLY TURNED ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT AND LOCKED. NO EPS LIGHT, NO WARNING, NO NOTHING! THIS LUCKILY IN MY CASE DID NOT CAUSE ME TO WRECK, BUT IT COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURIES HAD THERE BEEN ANOTHER CAR NEAR ME WHEN IT HAPPENED! IT ALSO DID IT SEVERAL TIMES SITTING STATIONARY WHEN BEING LOOKED AT IN THE SHOP!
AIRBAG LIGHT GOS ON AND OFF
EVERY TIME I TURN THE VEHICLE ON MY AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON. SOME TIMES STAY ON ALL THE TIME AND SOME TIMES IT GOES OFF AND ON WHILE I'M DRIVING.
STEERING "KNOCKS" WHILE TURNING WHEEL; BOTH STANDING AND WITH VEHICLE MOVING ALONG CITY STREETS. LOOKED UP SYMPTOM ONLINE, WHICH APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM KNOWN AS A DEFECTIVE AND UNSAFE STEERING COUPLER. MAYBE THE COUPLER SHOULD BE METAL & NOT PLASTIC. STEERING ALSO SHAKES AT 45MPH & ALSO WHEN YOU BRAKE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WERNER HYUNDAI (252 CAPITAL CIR SW, TALLAHASSEE, FL 32304) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
STEERING IS MAKING A 'CLUNKING ' NOISE WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED. THE STEERING FEELS LIKE IT HAS PLAY BEFORE IT ENGAGES. THE NOISE AND PLAY ARE PRESENT WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS MOVING OR STATIONARY. ISSUE IS THE SAME AS WHAT HAS BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPORTED. I'M CONCERNED THAT THE STEERING WILL NOT RESPOND PROPERLY AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
SRS AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. SAME ISSUE AS DESCRIBED IN SO MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS. 70,000 MILES ON VEHICLE.
PURCHASED WHAT I BELIEVE IS A LEMON FROM THE STAMFORD HYUNDAI. VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED AND RECALL ISSUES NOT ADDRESSED. ANOTHER CAR THAT HIT MINE STATED THAT MY CAR BRAKE LIGHTS INDICATED I STOPPED WHEN I ACTUALLY RELEASED THE BRAKE PEDAL. I BELIEVE THAT THE DEALERSHIP OVER CHARGED ME FOR A DEFECTED VEHICLE AND FAILED TO ADDRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL ISSUE WHICH CAUSED MY LANE CHANGE ACCIDENT. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF SOMEONE CAN ASSIST ME WITH THIS SERIOUS INFRACTION. AGAIN MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION BUT THE OTHER DRIVER SAID IT APPEARED TO BE. I WASN'T INFORMED BY THE SALESMAN OF ANY DEFECTS OR ISSUES. THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT I WAS DRIVING IN BROOKLYN NY ON REMSEN AVENUE. IMPACT OCCURRED ON REMSEN AND KINGS HIGHWAY. ANY ASSISTANCE WITH THIS WILL BE APPRECIATED. I PURCHASED THIS CAR CASH 6405.70 WHEN THE ASKING PRICE WAS 4670. I'VE BEEN RIPPED OFF AND COULD HAVE GOTTEN KILLED. HELP PLEASE.
THE FUEL RAIL IS LEAKING, IN DANGEROUS OF FIRING. THE SAME/SIMILAR ISSUE HAS BEEN RECALLED/REPORTED REPEATEDLY
The problem is in the steering and yes it is available upon request for inspection. My safety and that of anyone riding is at risk because the problem persists and it's progressively worse. There's a knock/pull/resistance whenever the steering turns slightly or fully either way. Yes the problem has been confirmed. The vehicle has been inspected by an independent business owner, and contractor. There were no warning signs or indicators of the problem, it started approximately 2020 but was slightly less pronounced than it is now and has become increasingly worse.
My air bags never work and my engine is starting to become a problem.
MY 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA WITH APPROX. 75,000 MILES, AND NO MECHANICAL OR COSMETIC ISSUES, CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED AND TURNED OFF FOR 10 MINUTES AT TAVERN IN THE SQUARE RESTAURANT IN LOWELL, MA. PATRONS WHO WERE PARKED NEARBY HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE ELECTRICAL SPARKS AND THEN WITNESSED SMOKE COMING FROM THE HOOD WHICH THEN BURST INTO FLAMES. THEY RAN IN TO RETRIEVE MY FAMILY AND I AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME WITHIN 10 MINUTES TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES BUT THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED BY THAT TIME. I HAVE VIDEOS AND PICTURES THAT CAN BE FORWARDED TO YOU. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT WAS ON HOLD FOR 40 MINUTES AND IMMEDIATELY DISCONNECTED BEFORE SPEAKING TO ANYONE. THIS HAS BEEN EXTREMELY STRESSFUL EMOTIONALLY AND FINANCIALLY. THE CAR WAS IN OUR GARAGE JUST 30 MINUTES PRIOR AND THIS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A HISTORY OF ISSUES WITH SOME OTHER HYUNDAI VEHICLES WHICH I WASN'T AWARE OF UNTIL NOW BUT I DON'T SEE THAT MY CAR WAS LISTED AS A POSSIBLE RECALL FOR ELECTRICAL FIRES. IT WAS MY ONLY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION AND EVERY PENNY I EARNED WAS USED TO PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE LESS THAN ONE YEAR AGO. I DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE THAT WOULD COVER THIS SITUATION SO THIS IS A TOTAL LOSS. PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW TO PROCEED AND ALSO WHERE TO FORWARD THE VIDEO AND PHOTO DETAILS.
EVERY TIME IT RAINS . IT HYDROPLANES REAL BAD. ON THE HIGHWAY. ANYTHING OVER 40 MPH. BACK IS TRYING TO OUT RUN FRONT OF CAR. I PUT NEW TIRES ON IT ALL AROUND STILL DOESN'T HELP.
The steering system is clunking both at rest and while in motion. The dealer diagnosed the problem as the steering coupler. This part is the subject of a recall in other similar models but for some reason the GT model is excluded, even though it is an identical part. The problem is getting progressively worse while Hyundai is refusing to help. The dealer service writer was at a loss to explain why my car is not included in the recall. First reported to Hyundai in January 2021 at about 90,000 miles.
ON MONDAY WHEN I STARTED MY CAR I REALIZED MY AIRBAG LIGHT ON MY DASHBOARD WAS ON ALERTING ME THAT MY AIRBAGS ARE DEACTIVATED AND WON'T DEPLOY. MY CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE AIRBAGS HAVE NEVER DEPLOYED. IT IS UNSETTLING THAT I HAVE TO DRIVE AROUND WITHOUT AIRBAGS BECAUSE I CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY OVER 100$ TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND THERE IS NO RECALL EVEN THOUGH MY CAR IS NOT THE FIRST HYUNDAI TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
MY AIR BAG LIGHT TURNED ON A FEW MONTHS AGO. AT FIRST, IT WAS WHEN I WAS ONLY TURNING MY STEERING WHEEL OR WHEN I WAS IN PARK. NOW, IT'S ALWAYS ON. I HAVE SEEN THIS ISSUE SO OFTEN AND FOR IT TO BE SUCH A COMMON ISSUE AND NOT RECALLED IS VERY DISAPPOINTING. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND CAN BE FATAL IF I WERE TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE MY AIR BAG WOULDN'T DEPLOY PROPERLY.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND I GOT IT DIAGNOSED AND IT WAS THE CLOCK SPRING. THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE TECH SAID THAT THE CLOCK SPRING ITSELF WASNT BROKEN, JUST THAT IT SHORTED OUT. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I GOOGLED THIS PROBLEM BEFORE I GOT IT FIXED AND THERE WAS A CONSENSUS THAT ELANTRA HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE CLOCK SPRING. HYUNDAI DID A PARTIAL RECALL OF ELANTRA WITHIN 2011-2014 FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT MY VEHICLE WASN'T INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON FOR NO REASON WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND REMAINS ON. I CALLED DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $169.00 JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. READING THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS WEBSITE IT APPEARS GT HAS THE SAME AIRBAGS AS OTHER ELANTRAS BUT IS NOT ON RECALL FOR THIS PART? WHY NOT? ISN'T THIS A SAFETY ISSUE?
THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT PERIOD COMES ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. EVEN THOUGH THERE HAS BEEN NO ACCIDENTS.
First even though it is an eight year old car. It only has 28,540 miles on it. No accidents. for the past few weeks the ESC light keeps coming on. I noticed there are many others with this manufacturer having the same problem, in fact there is a recall for this model ending in 2012. The dealer wants 850 to change replace the front left hub. I believe this is a manufacturing issue. thank you Michael Turner
THERE IS A CLICKING/CLUNKING SOUND FROM MY STEERING WHEEL. WHILE I AM DRIVING IT WILL SNAP MY STEERING WHEEL TO THE MIDDLE WHICH IS VERY UNSAFE AS THIS COULD CAUSE MY VEHICLE TO MOVE IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION. THE DIAGNOSIS IS THE POWER STEERING COUPLER BUT SINCE I'M AT 101,000 MILES (ONLY 1,000 MILES OVER THE WARRANTY) THE DEALERSHIP WON'T COVER IT.

TO STOP RACING WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT, I HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND A) ENGINE SPEED MAY GO BACK TO NORMAL OR B) REPEATEDLY STEP ON GAS PEDAL TO DISENGAGE RACING ENGINE. OR C) TURN OFF ENGINE KEY AND TRY TO RESTART. THIS HAS OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES
STEERING BUSHING UNDER DASH, CAUSING STEERING ISSUES.
AFTER GETTING THE RECALL FOR BRAKES DONE , TWO MONTHS LATER MY STEERING WHEEL STARTED DOING A CLUCK SOUND WHENEVER I TURN MY STEERING WHEEL. IT DOES IT WHEN DRIVING, PARKED , ON THE HIGHWAY, AND THE CITY STREET.
STEERING WHEEL MAKES A CLICKING SOUND EVERY TIME IT IS MOVED AND SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN TRYING TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAG LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF.
AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON CONSTANTLY. CAR HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HYDROPLANE. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE VEHICLE SPUN OUT OF CONTROL AND CRASHED INTO A WALL. ALL THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE BACK BROKEN, BURN TO NECK, BURIES ALL OVER THE BODY, AND LACERATIONS TO THE HEAD. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS CONTACTED AND AS TOOK THE CONTACT TO THE HOSPITAL HOWEVER THE CONTACT HAD TO BE TRANSFER TO ANOTHER HOSPITAL WHERE SHE RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION BETWEEN SEPT 9/11/2020 TO 9/14/2020. THE CONTACT WAS IN THE TRAUMA UNIT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE POLICE TO A LOT WHERE IT WAS DEEMED A TOTALED LOSS. GEICO ALSO CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE DEALER (THOMAS HYUNDAI 10325 MT SAVAGE ROAD, CUMBERLAND, MD 21502) WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE REPAIRS THAT WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE 3 WEEKS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE THAT OCCURRED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ECM WAS UPDATED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL STOPPER WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT 0 RECALLS WERE UNDER THE VIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 51,486.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT RANDOMLY TURNED ON WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND WON'T TURN OFF
THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD OF MY CAR GOES ON AND OFF AS I'M DRIVING OR WHEN THE CAR IS NOT IN MOTION. APPARENTLY THIS IS DUE TO THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. SEVERAL HYUNDAIS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SO HYUNDAI EXTENDED ITS WARRANTY FOR CERTAIN MODELS. THE 2013 ELANTRA SEDAN IS COVERED UNDER THIS WARRANTY, HOWEVER, THEY FAILED TO INCLUDE THE GT MODEL. THE GT MODEL HAS THE EXACT SAME PART WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUES, THEREFORE IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THIS IS A TERRIBLE SAFETY ISSUE SINCE MY AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IF I GET INTO A COLLISION.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED LOSS OF CONTROL OF THIS VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES, INCLUDING TODAY. AS I HAVE FAITHFULLY MAINTAINED MY CAR, I HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THE DESIGN OF THE CAR IS THE ISSUE. SPECIFICALLY, WHEN I ATTEMPT TO APPLY THE BRAKES, THE CAR WILL NOT BRAKE PROPERLY AND IS VERY HARD TO CONTROL. TODAY, I EXPERIENCED THE CAR HYDROPLANE AND THANK GOODNESS NO OTHER CAR WAS IN FRONT OF ME OR ON THE SIDE BECAUSE IT TOOK ME AT LEAST TWO MINUTES BEFORE I COULD GAIN CONTROL AGAIN. THIS OCCURED WHEN I MADE A RIGHT TURN WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 25MPH AND NO PUDDLES OF WATER WERE PRESENT. EARLY APRIL, I HAD A SIMILAR INCIDENT WHERE I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES, ALTHOUGH MY BRAKES WERE REPLACED A FEW WEEKS PRIOR. BACK IN DECEMBER 2019, I HAD A SIMILAR INCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY I-95 WHILE DRIVING HOME. I HAVE IT DOCUMENTED THROUGH AAA. MY TIRE BLEW AND THE CAR FAILED TO STOP. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER AND ADVISED WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY INSISTED MY TIRES AND BRAKES WERE FINE. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE TODAY AND FOUND I AM NOT THE ONLY CUSTOMER EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. I SAW SEVERAL CUSTOMERS STATING THEY RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, HOWEVER, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ONE. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY TO THE POINT I NO LONGER WANT TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE.
