ON SEPTEMBER 20TH 2018 AFTER HAVING THE CAR A WEEK, THE CAR MADE A NOISE WOULD NOT START ALL THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WERE BLINKING ON AND OFF THEN NEVER CAME ON AGAIN. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THEM TO SAY IT WAS A BATTERY, WHICH THEY NEVER GAVE A SERVICE RECEIPT FOR NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I ASKED. THEN AGAIN ON AUGUST 7 2019 MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR STOP WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR. THANKFULLY WE WERE ABLE TO GET OFF THE EXPRESSWAY WHICH WAS A VERY SCARY SITUATION. AFTER ABOUT 30 MIN THAT DID RESTART BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OF 60 MPH. AS WE COASTED THE REMAINDER OF OUR TRIP. THEN AGAIN ON OCTOBER 7 THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AFTER RECEIVING AN OIL CHANGE AND TUNE UP. THIS TIME SMOKING AND STALLING AND NEVER COMING BACK ON AGAIN. THE BRAKE WOULD BE PRESSED WHEN THE PUSH TO START BETTON NEVER WENT TO THE ON POSITION.
2013 HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT - HAD ENGINE REPLACED DUE TO RECALL END OF JUNE 2019. OCTOBER 6TH CAR STARED BUCKING AND UNABLE TO GO MORE THAN 3-5 MPH WITH PEDAL TO FLOOR. CAR TOWED TO HYUNDAI WHO AFTER INSPECTION SAID IT WAS THROTTLE BODY. COST TO REPAIR WAS JUST ABOUT $900. HAD TO RENT CAR IN ORDER TO GET TO WORK. PICKED UP CAR ON MONDAY NIGHT. WEDNESDAY MORNING MADE IT ABOUT 2 MILES FROM HOUSE AND CAR DID EXACTLY THE SAME THING. HAD IT TOWED TO HYUNDAI AGAIN!!! THE PROVIDED A RENTAL CAR THIS TIME. THEY RESET CODE AND CHECKED THAT THROTTLE BODY WAS PROPERLY INSTALLED AND THAT ALL CONNECTIONS TIGHT. HYUNDAI SAID THEY DROVE CAR FOR 60 MILES AND COULD NOT REPLICATE PROBLEM. PRIOR TO PICK UP I INFORMED HYUNDAI SERVICE MANAGER THAT I WAS NOT CONFIDENT THAT THEY FIXED PROBLEM. PICKED UP CAR FRIDAY. IT IS NOW MONDAY MORNING (3 DAYS LATER) AND DIDN'T EVEN MAKE IT OUT OF MY DEVELOPMENT. SAME PROBLEM!!! SHAME ON HYUNDAI!!! I AM FEARFUL TO DRIVE THIS CAR EVEN IF THEY FIX THIS PROBLEM. DON'T TRUST THAT ENGINE REPLACEMENT WAS DONE CORRECTLY.
2013 HYUNDAI SANTE FE SPORT 'STEERING BEGAN A "HESITATION", "LAG", "PLAY" WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL EVEN SLIGHTLY IN EITHER DIRECTION.' THE PROBLEM WILL INCREASED AS 3 DIFERENTE CERTIFIED MECHANICS ALREADY INFORMED ME. IT APPEARS ALL THESE PROBLEMS ARE ATTRIBUTABLE TO HYUNDAI'S ELECTION TO USE A CHEAP RUBBER COUPLER BETWEEN THE STEERING COLUMN AND STEERING LINKAGE.' 'THE REPLACEMENT PART IS $6.88. HYUNDAI DEALERSHIPS CHARGE $400-$500 TO REPLACE IT. NHTSA SHOULD HAVE LONG AGO ORDERED HYUNDAI TO EFFECTUATE A REPLACEMENT OF THIS PART WITH ONE MADE OF A MATERIAL THAT WILL NOT DEGRADE AS THIS PART DOES.' HYUNDAI HAS ISSUED SEVERAL EXTENDED WARRANTIES FOR SOME MODELS, EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW ITS THE SAME PROBLEMS FOR ALL THE MODELS WITH THIS CHEAP RUBBER COUPLER. MOST OF THIS INFORMATION WAS FROM OTHER OWNER'S COMPLAINS, BUT THE NEW INFORMATION I HAVE WAS FROM THE HYUNDAI SERVICE DEPARTMENT. AFTER REPLACING MY ENGINE IN A RECALL (WHERE MY CAR STOPPED AND FIRE STARTED IN MY ENGINE), I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS RUBBER COUPLER. EVERYONE FROM HYUNDAI SERVICE DEP KNOWS THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE IN A RECALL, BUT THEY JUST WILL DO NOTHING TO GET IT TO NHTSA. THEY JUST STATED 'NHTSA IS THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN REQUEST FOR A RECALL.' TODAY I SPOKE AGAIN WITH THE HYUNDAI SERVICE MANAGER (AT RED HOAGLAND HYUNDAI WINTER HAVEN, FL ), BECAUSE AFTER CALLING HYUNDAI RECALL DEP AND BEING TOLD THAT 'IF THE SERVICE DEP DECIDES THAT THIS REPLACEMENT SHOULD BE IN A RECALL THEY COULD REQUEST FOR A EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM THE HYUNDAI RECALL DEP, OR NHTSA NEEDS TO PUT A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM'. ITS CLEAR THAT EVERYONE KNOWS THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE IN A RECALL AND THAT IT IS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION, BUT NO ONE DOES ANYTHING ABOUT IT. FOR THE PAST 12-14 MOS I'VE HAD TO ADD ADDITIONAL 1-4 QUARTS OF OIL AFTER VERIFYING LOW OIL ON DIP STICK IN BETWEEN REGULARLY SCHEDULED OIL CHANGES AT FIRESTONE. THEY NOTED DEC 2019 INTERNAL OIL LEAKAGE. OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON. MOST RECENTLY FEB 14, 2020 CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON CHECKED DIP STICK TWICE IT ONLY HAD OIL ON TIP, ADDED 2 QUARTS OIL, LIGHT WENT OFF. CHECK ENG LIGHT CAME ON FEW DAYS LATER, REPEATED DIP STICK CHECK =ADDED 3 MORE QUARTS OIL FEW DAYS LATER. REPEATED SEVERAL XS THROUGHOUT FEB 2020. PAID 3 SEPARATE MECHANICS ALL STATED INTERNAL OIL LEAK. 1 MECHANIC STATED HAD SEVERAL CUSTOMERS WITH SAME COMPLAINT. HE INFORMED ME CHECK WITH DEALER FOR 1 RECALL OR 2 EXTENDED WARRANTY & DUE TO OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM. HE ESTIMATED APPROX $5K + TO REBUILD ENGINE, PISTON RINGS ISSUE. I CALLED DEALER ASKED COST FOR THEM TO CHECK WAS QUOTED MINI $139 TO START. WHEN THEY EMAILED APPOINTMENT CONFIRMATION, I CONFIRMED APPMT MAR 14, 2020 & ASKED 1. IF A RECALL EXISTED 2. IF EXTENDED WARRANTED COVERED IT. WHEN I GOT THERE TODAY I ASKED SAME 2 QUESTIONS & WAS TOLD TO PAY $42 FOR OIL CHANGE #1 TODAY & BRING CAR EVERY 1000 MILES 3 MORE TIMES FREE OF CHARGE SO THEY CAN TRACK INTERNAL OIL LEAK. WAS TOLD EXTENDED WARRANTY ONLY WENT TO 120,000, MY CAR'S @ 125,600. I ASKED WHY I WASNT INFORMED OF THIS EXTENDED WARRANTY AS I RECEIVED LETTER LAST YEAR WHEN I BROUGHT CAR IN FOR COURTESY SOFTWARE UPDATE & 2018 ANOTHER COURTESY CHECK, THEY COULDNT EXPLAIN. I FEEL IF I DIDNT USE BUZZ WORDS 4TH MECHANIC TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE BEEN CHARGED MORE $. A MECHANIC 3 DAYS AGO SAID I NEEDED EXHAUST MANIFOLD CATALYTIC CONVTR $1244 & NEW SPARK PLUGS & COILS $703. INFOMED THIS MECHANIC I PD $600 APPROX 6 MOS AGO FOR SPARK PLUGS DUE TO HESITATION IN ACCELERATION & JERKY & SPUTTERY MOTION. I FEEL LIKE HYUNDAI IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM & I READ SIMILAR ISSUES RESULTING IN FIRES. I'M STILL PAYIN ON CAR.
WHEN I DRIVE MY CAR THERE IS A CLICKING SOUND FROM THE STEERING COLUMN WHILE I'M DRIVING, TURNING AND WHEN I HIT BUMPS. MY CAR WILL DRIFT LEFT OR RIGHT WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AROUND 65MPH WITH MY WIFE AND 6 MONTH OLD WHEN I REALIZED THAT APPLYING THE GAS PEDAL WAS HAVING NO EFFECT. THE TACHOMETER SHOWED 0 RPM. I APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT THEY WERE VERY HARD TO PRESS. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER. WE THEN NOTICED A BURNING SMELL AND A LITTLE SMOKE AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR. THE VEHICLE WOULD MAKE NO ATTEMPT TO START AND HAD TO BE TOWED. THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THE CRANKSHAFT SEIZED. THEY ARE SUBMITTING DOCUMENTATION TO HYUNDAI FOR WARRANTY AUTHORIZATION RELATED TO THE RECALLS INVOLVING ENGINE FIRES. THE VEHICLE GAVE NO WARNING THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG UNTIL AFTER THE ENGINE STOPPED.
TAKATA RECALL. WE WERE DRIVING ON A STATE HWY AT 55MPH AND STARTING TO HEAR A KNOCK FROM THE ENGINE. IN THE YEAR AND A HALF OF OWNING THE VEHICLE THERE WERE NO ISSUES. NO INDICATOR OF ISSUES OR ANYTHING. WE EVEN HAD IT SERVICED 2 WEEKS PRIOR AND THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS. WITHIN A 2 MILE SPAN OF THE KNOCK STARTING THE VEHICLE ENGINE SEIZED AND SHUT DOWN. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS BEHIND US BECAUSE THERE WAS NOWHERE SAFE TO PULL OVER TO FOR ABOUT 1/8MILE SO WE COASTED AND CREPT AT ABOUT 5MPH TO A DRIVEWAY WHERE WE THEN WERE TOWED TO A SAFER LOCATION. NO LIGHTS OR INDICATORS CAME ON UNTIL THE MOMENT THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. APPARENTLY, THIS IS COMMON WITH 2013 MODEL HYUNDAI SANTA FE SPORT ENGINES AFTER DISCUSSING IT WITH THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND SEIZED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT IT CONTINUED TO HESITATE WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BEARING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V226000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT CALLED HYUNDAI OF CUMMING (LOCATED AT 750 PEACHTREE PKWY, CUMMING, GA 30041, (470) 281-9228) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
HAD OIL CHANGED 1,100 MILES AGO. THREW A ROD, RUINED ENGINE. MECHANIC SAID MY DIPSTICK WAS 'BONE DRY'. IT WASN'T EVEN TOUCHING THE OIL. MY OIL WAS CHANGED AT THE DEALERSHIP. I'VE BEEN TOLD BY ENGINE PARTS SUPPLIER THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MY YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL. HE DIDN'T KNOW THE DETAILS OF MY ISSUE AT ALL. YET DESCRIBED IT PERFECTLY . I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WHEN ENGINE FAILED. I WAS TRAVELING 65 MPH WHICH WAS THE SPEED LIMIT. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO SIDE OF ROAD.
ENGINE FAILED ON HIGHWAY, HAD TO PULL OVER AND CAR NEVER STARTED BACK UP.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000.

THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AT 60 MPH AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND CALLED STERLING MCCALL CHEVROLET (17800 NORTH FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77090) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE ASSIST WITH THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THEIR RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT SHE WAS NOT INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V226000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
Three safety issues: 1st Steering column coupler went bad at 95k miles causing steering wheel to shake. Cost $1700 to repair. I was at risk for steering to lock up, which would have caused an accident and injury to myself and others on roadway. 2nd Airbag indicator light is currently on. Diagnostic scan shows steering wheel airbag is faulty. If in an accident occurs and airbag does not deploy, could cause serious bodily injury. I do not have a copy of the diagnoses sheet, estimate to repair was $800. 3rd ABS sensor is currently faulty on rear tires causing dashboard indicator lights to constantly be illuminated. If rear brakes actually go bad and I'm not aware because the sensor is faulty, could cause bodily injury to myself and others on roadway if they malfunction or cease to function. I do not have copy of diagnosis sheet as I don't have funds to repair at this time.
RECALL 112 FOR HYUNDAI SANTA FE SUV. MY CAR HAS HAD ITS FRONT AXEL POP OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION TWICE IN LESS THAN 2 YEARS AND THERE ARE ALSO METAL SHAVINGS IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE RECALL 112 WOULD ADDRESS THESE ISSUES, HOWEVER HYUNDAI HAS TAKEN THE POSITION THAT MY VIN IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. THE AXEL POPPED OUT BOTH TIMES WHILE DRIVING WITH MY WIFE AND KIDS IN THE CAR LEAVING THEM STRANDED. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS WE ARE FORTUNATE THAT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN HURT DO TO THIS ISSUE YET. IF SAFETY IS A CONCERN FOR HYUNDAI THE NHTSA SHOULD LOOKING INTO EXPANDING THE RECALL TO ACCOUNT FOR ALL CARS THAT HAVE THIS DEFECT IN THE AXEL AND TRANSMISSION. I AM LOOKING FOR HELP OR COUNCIL TO KEEP HYUNDAI ACCOUNTABLE FOR MANUFACTURING DEFECTS.

THE PROBLEM INCREASED IN THE "HESITATION", "LAG", "PLAY" EXPERIENCED. PERFORMED SEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT HUNDREDS OF OWNERS OF HYUNDAI ACROSS MANY MODELS AND YEARS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. A NUMBER OWNERS EXPERIENCING EXTREME PROBLEMS, I.E., STEERING GOING OUT COMPLETELY OR LOCKING UP WHILE DRIVING. IT APPEARS ALL THESE PROBLEMS ARE ATTRIBUTABLE TO HYUNDAI'S ELECTION TO USE A CHEAP RUBBER COUPLER BETWEEN THE STEERING COLUMN AND STEERING LINKAGE. WHILE RESEARCHING I FOUND THAT, IN FACT, HYUNDAI HAS ISSUED SEVERAL TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS. I HAVE BEEN THE ONLY OWNER OF MY VEHICLE. HOWEVER, I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION OF THIS POTENTIAL VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH AN ESSENTIAL PART TO THE SAFE OPERATION OF THESE VEHICLES. THE REPLACEMENT PART IS $6.88. HYUNDAI DELEARSHIPS CHARGE $400-$500 TO REPLACE IT. NHTSA SHOULD HAVE LONG AGO ORDERED HYUNDAI TO EFFECTUATE A REPLACEMENT OF THIS PART WITH ONE MADE OF A MATERIAL THAT WILL NOT DEGRADE AS THIS PART DOES.

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS ENGINE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V226000 (ENGINE), BUT NEVER HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE VIN TOOL DID NOT SHOW AN OPEN RECALL. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,500.
USING THE CAR IN ECO WHEN ENTERING THE INTERSTATE I'M SPEEDING UP MY CAR GOES HIGHER IN RPMS AND IS NOT SHIFTING TO CORRECT THE CHANGE AND I'LL HAVE TO FLIP IT INTO MANUAL AND SHIFT INTO A HIGHER GEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 TIMES AND DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME BUT THE FIRST TIME ALMOST GOT ME HIT BY A CAR BECAUSE I COULDN'T SLOW DOWN DUE TO TIMING AND ALSO WAS NOT SPEEDING UP CORRECTLY DUE TO THE CAR NOT AUTO CORRECTING.
PURCHASING THE HYUNDAI SANTA FE 2013 WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE I MADE. SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE I HAVE SPENT OVER 5K IN REPAIRS, TOWING, AND CAR RENTALS. FIRST I WAS MADE TO BELIEVE IF I CHANGE ALL THE OIL AND DID ALL UPDATES TO THE FILTERS MY CAR WOULD STOP STALLING AND SHUTTING DOWN ON ME THAT DIDN'T WORK. THEN MY CAR SHUT DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR ALMOST KILLING US ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE WASTEGATE NEEDED CHANGING. THEN IT SHUT DOWN ON MINUTES I EXIT MY HOME IN DELAWARE AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY. I WAS TERRIFIED TO GET IN THAT VEHICLE AND SO WAS MY FAMILY I FILED SEVERAL CORPORATE COMPLAINTS OVER THE 2 YEARS I HAVE BEEN IGNORED AND NOT OFFERED HELP. I HAVE ASK HYUNDAI TO REPURCHASE THE VEHICLE BUT REFUSED SO I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK THAT WAS IN JUNE WITH THE PROMISE AND GUARANTEE THE CAR WAS FINALLY FIXED AND I WAS SAFE. IN THE END OF JULY I WAS DRIVING ON THE I 495 ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE LANE ALL OF THE CAR JUST STOPS IN BUSY TRAFFIC A LARGE FREIGHT TRUCK WAS BEHIND ME HONKING TO MOVE HE ALMOST CRUSHED ME HE SWERVE TO SIDE BARELY MISSING I WAS BEYOND FRIGHTENED CARS WAS FLYING BY SHAKING THE CAR IT WAS ON THE HOTTEST DAY I HAD NO AC AND MY ASTHMA WAS FLARING UP. I BEG HYUNDAI TO PICK THERE VEHICLE UP I WAS DENIED I CALLED MY TRIPLE A AND THEY GOT THE CAR. NOW I'M BEING TOLD IT'S THE ENGINE IT'S DUE TO A RECALL THAT THEY SUPPOSEDLY ALREADY HAD REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO DEALER WHERE THE DRIVER WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND THE REAR DIFFERENTIALS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,219. *DL CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO HOTCHKISS AUTO REPAIR (DENVER, CO) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE HAD BEEN REMOVED FROM THE TRANSAXLE. THEY FOUND THAT ALL OF THE SPLINES ON THE OUTPUT SHAFT HAD BEEN WORN DOWN AND WERE NOT MESHING WITH THE SPLINES OF THE TRANSFER CASE. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH THROUGH AN INTERSECTION ON A CITY STREET, THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED AND SHUT OFF. I WAS UNABLE TO STEER OR BRAKE, BUT MANAGED TO COAST INTO A PARKING LOT. THE ENTIRE DASH PANEL REPEATEDLY FLASHED AND ALL WARNING SYMBOLS APPEARED ON DASH PANEL. BRIEFLY THE DASH PANEL DISPLAYED CONNECT FUEL SENSOR BEFORE COMPLETELY SHUTTING OFF. WE TOWED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT APPEARED TO BE A FAILED ALTERNATOR AND STARTER AND COMPROMISED BATTERY CABLE AND SENSOR AND WOULDN'T BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. WE HAD JUST HAD THE FUEL LINE SENSOR REPLACED UNDER RECALL AND NOW THIS. THIS IS AFTER THE TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE AND THAT LED TO THE ENGINE BEING REPLACED WITH WHAT WE TOLD WAS A FACTORY NEW ENGINE THAT FELL UNDER THE METAL FRAGMENTS IN OIL CHAMBER RECALL. WE ARE FORTUNATE WE WERE UNHARMED DURING THIS INCIDENT. THIS IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING THAT WE HAVE BEEN HIT WITH RECALL AFTER RECALL. WE WERE TOLD TO NOT BE SURPRISED IF THIS ISSUE ALSO BECAME A MATTER OF RECALL.
2013 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS low beam very dim ( having to use High beams contentiously)dealership states can not find problem, checked wiring harness ohms out correctly(12 volts )have replaced bulbs many time manufactured recommended. have researched internet and Hyundai form many owners are having similar issues on other modals as well. WHEN THE TECH REMOVED THE CYLINDER HEAD 6 OF THE REAR HEAD BOLTS WERE LOOSE AND THE THREADS HAD PULLED OUT OF THE BLOCK AND 4 FROM THE FRONT HEAD. TECH DRILLED OUT ALL REAR BLOCK HEAD BOLT HOLES AND INSTALLED TIME SERTS AND THE 4 IN THE FRONT HEAD. AFTER REPAIR NO MORE OIL LEAKS. I CALLED HYUNDAI CORPORATE BECAUSE OF THERE DESIGN FAILURE IT WAS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR IT $4526.02. AGAIN HYUNDAI SAID THEY WERE NOT LIABLE. I WANT TO BE REIMBURSE FOR ALL MY OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES.

GOT WORSE AND STARTED HESITATING A LITTLE AS I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. I GOT STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. WHEN I STARTED OFF FROM BEING STOPPED IT WOULD BARELY GO, THEN IT DIED. WITHIN A FEW MINUTES I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE, GOT OUT AND SAW FLAMES COMING OUT OF GRILL AREA AND UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE AREA. CALLED 911, CAR WAS ON FIRE! I HAVE MANY VIDEOS OF THE INCIDENT. I HAD NO PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR BEFORE NOW.
MY 2013 HYUNDAI SANTA FE LIMITED HAS PREVIOUSLY HAD TWO OF FOUR DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLIES FAIL. ONE WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY ONE I PAID THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE. NOW A THIRD LATCH ASSEMBLY HAS FAILED. THERE ARE TWO TSBS AGAINST THIS FAILURE (14-01-004-1 AND 14-01-004) SPECIFICALLY FOR THE 2013 HYUNDAI SANTA FE YET THE DEALERSHIP SAYS MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS WHEN IT OCCURS YOU HAVE NO ABILITY TO RECEIVE ANY SAFETY INFORMATION FROM THE CARS MONITORING SYSTEM BECAUSE THE ENTIRE DISPLAY JUST SAYS "DOOR AJAR"
I OWN A 2013 SANTA FE AND I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH IT, THE ENGINE BEING REPLACED DUE TO FAILING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, IT WAS SERVICED WITH A FEW OTHER ITEMS DEALER FOUND TO BE NEEDED FOR SOME RECALLS. BUT NONE I CAN RECALL FOR SURE WAS REGARDING THE ENGINE ITSELF, WILL NEED TO CHECK SERVICE RECORDS. THEN LATER IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP(INJECTOR) NEED TO VERIFY SPECIFICS, BUT GAS FUMES AND SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE AND THIS WAS REPLACED, THEN LATER AGAIN HAD TO TAKE IN AGAIN FOR REPAIR DUE TO SERVICE ERROR OF TUBING BEING BENT ECT WHEN INSTALLED, NOTICED THE HIGH AMOUNT OF GAS FUMES AND SMOKE FROM THE ENGINE AND INTO THE CABIN. THIS WAS A FEW MONTHS AGO, THEN NOV 9 2018 MY CAR CAUGHT FIRE AND WAS DESTROYED BY FLAMES. I HAD JUST SECONDS TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND PUT IN PARK, GRAB MY 6 YEAR OLD SON AND GET OUT BEFORE FLAMES COVERED THE ENTIRE ENGINE THEN THE ENTIRE CAR. I WAS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE STREET. I WOULD LIKE TO START AN INVESTIGATION REGARDING THIS MATTER, I FEAR I AND MY SON COULD HAVE DIED DUE TO THIS KNOWN AND NEGLECTED ISSUE THESE SANTA FE'S HAVE BEEN HAVING. I HAVE HAD THE CAR SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP SO I WILL BE ABLE TO SUPPLY THE SERVICE REPORTS AND THE CASE NUMBER FOR THE WILLIAMSON COUNTY SHERIFF REPORT OF THE FIRE AND OTHER DOCUMENTS NEEDED. THE REAR SECTION OF THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON A SUNNY DAY, TEMPS IN UPPER 50S. THERE WAS A VERY LOUD NOISE FOLLOWED BY CRACKING SOUNDS, INDICATING THAT THE GLASS WAS CRACKING AND SPREADING ACROSS THE PANE. THE GLASS DID NOT FALL THROUGH BUT IS CRACKED ACROSS THE ENTIRE PANE. NO EVIDENCE OF ANY IMPACT FROM ROAD DEBRIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2013 HYUNDAI SANTA FE. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING THROUGH THE AIR VENTS. HE THEN OBSERVED FLAMES UNDER THE HOOD. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE 2 WEEKS AGO FROM HYUNDAI OF COLUMBIA IN TENNESSEE WHEN THE ENGINE BLEW I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN ALABAMA ABOUT 65 MPH THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEAR A SOUND SIMULAR TO A FAN GAURD PRESSED UP AGAINST THE BLADE THEN WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A CINDER BLOCK HITTING MY CAR THE ENGINE STOPPED AND I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER ON THE 565. I CHECKED THE DIPSTICK THE ONCE HONEY COLORED OIL WAS BLACK WITH METTALIC AND BRASS COLORED SHAVINGS EVERYWERE, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TOWED BACK TO TENNESSEE. I LET THE DEALERSHIP KNOW WHAT HAPPENED MIKE THE CAR SALESMAN SAID TO BRING IT IN SO THE NEXT DAY MY WIFE, TODDLER, AND I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT DROPPED OFF ORIGINALLY THEY DIDN'T HELP OF PUT IN ANY EFFORT TO HELP US AND THE SALESMAN WAS OFF THAT DAY THE SERVICE ADVISOR BRIAN HE SAID THERE WASNT ANY PAST RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE AT LEAST WHAT SHOWED UP ON THEIR SYSTEM. MY WIFE LOOKED UP VIN HISTORY AND FOUND THAT IT SUPPOSEDLY HAD ENGINE WORK FOR A RECALL. THE GUY STILL DIDN'T HELP ME EVEN AFTER I TOLD HIM I WILL PAY TO HAVE IT DIEGNOSED. WELL A FEW DAYS LATER CORPORATE CALLED ME AFTER I POSTED THIS STORY ON THIER ADVERTISEMENT THEY HAD FOR A HYUNDAI SONATA FE. CORPORATE MUST HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THIS TIME THEY WERE APOLOGETIC AND FRIENDLY THEY SAID BRING YOUR VEHICLE BACK BACK TO US AND WE'LL HELP YOU UNLOAD IT AND GET IT DIAGNOSED. IT'S ALMOST TWO WEEKS AND STILL HAVEN'T HEARD FROM THE DEALERSHIP NETHER HAS HYUNDAI CORPORATE ABOUT THE DIAGNOSIS. I JUST HOPE THEY FIX THIS ISSUE BECAUSE MY FAMILY AND I NEEDED A DEPENDABLE VEHICLE.
