STILL DEALER DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE DEFECT ALTHOUGH THE CHANGE SOME OF THE PARTS ALREADY BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. NO SAFETYD EFECT LISTED. *AK
BRAKES SQUEAL VERY LOUD EVERY TIME BRAKES ARE APPLIED. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO DEALER 3 TIMES, DEALER CANNOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM.*AK
WHENEVER WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE IN USE THEY FAIL TO WORK PROPERLY. HAD TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER AT LEAST 4 TIMES. MECHANIC FINALLY REPLACED WIPER MOTOR FROM NEW VEHICLE. THIS RESOLVED PROBLEM.*AK
CONSUMER IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. *JG
COMPUTER FAILED THREE TIMES. MECHANICS COULD NOT DIAGNOSE. FINALLY WAS REPLACED.*AK
RIGHT FRONT SPEAKER POPS ON AND OFF AT A STOP OR MOVING. WHEN YOU USE THE AC BUTTON, WINDSHIELD WIPER, WINDOWS, AND TURN SIGNALS THE SPEAKER EITHER SHUTS OFF OR TURNS ON. THE RADIO WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES, THE SPEAKER TWICE AND THE WIRING AND WIRING HARNESSES WERE REPLACED. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP WITH AND WITHOUT REPAIRS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AT LEAST 12 TIMES. THE PROBLEM STARTED THE FIRST NIGHT WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN OCTOBER OF 2001. THE CAR HAS HAD OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER WINDOW MOTORS, BATTERY, AND REMOTE DOOR LOCKS. I FEEL AS THOUGH I HAVE SPENT MORE TIME AT THE DEALER TRYING TO GET THE CAR FIXED THEN ACTUALLY ENJOYING THE CAR. I HAVE FILED CASES WITH THE HYUNDAI CORPORATE OFFICE, A FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE LOOKED AT THE CAR, HEARD THE PROBLEM, IN FORMED THE DEALER ON HOW TO FIX IT. I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL 6 DAYS LATER SAYING THE CHIEF MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO HE DID NOT TOUCH IT. EVEN THOUGH THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE HEARD THE PROBLEM AND TOLD THEM WHAT TO FIX. I HAVE TAKEN THE FIRST STEP IN THE LEMON LAW, I HAVE SENT A CERTIFIED DEFECT COMPLAINT TO THE DEALER. THE RECEIVED IT APRIL 11 2003 AT 12:00 PM. I AM JUST WAITING ON THERE RESPONSE. THIS CAR HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE TO MY SELF AND MY FAMILY. TWO VISITS AGO THE DEALER HAD THE CAR FOR ONE WEEK. WHEN I RECEIVED THE CAR BACK, THE CAR WAS COVERED WITH AN UNKNOWN SUBSTANCE (MAYBE TREE SAP) ALL OVER THE HOOD, ROOF, AND TRUNK. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE DEALERS ATTENTION WHILE THE FACTORY REP WAS THERE. THE REP TOLD THEM TO COMPOUND THE CAR OUT AND RECTIFY THIS ISSUE. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR, THE CAR WAS WASHED BUT THE SUBSTANCE WAS STILL THERE, NOW WITH SWIRL SCRATCHES IN THE PAINT WHERE THEY TRIED TO UP THE SUBSTANCE OFF THE CAR. DEALER AND CORPORATE WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS. THIS WILL BE THE FINAL CASE FOR MY LAWYER AGAINST HYUNDAI. *NLM
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS HIT ON DRIVER'S DOOR. SPEED OF IMPACT WAS 45 MPH. UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER SUFFERED NECK AND BACK INJURIES. $ 6000.00 DAMAGE TO VEHICLE.*AK
2002 HYUNDAI,SONATA HAS 28,000 MILES. HAVE HAD TO HAVE ROTORS REPLACED 3 TIMES SINCE 11000 MILES. CAR SHAKES AFTER ROTORS HAVE BEEN ON CAR FOR ABOUT 4 OR 5 THOUSAND MILES. *AK
MY 2002 HYUNDAI SONATA FAILED STARE INSPECTION DUE TO RIGHT FRONT ROT ON SUBFRAME. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER AND THEY ARE GOING TO REPAIR PROBLEM. UNTIL THEN, IT WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION. I HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED A CITATION FOR IT NOT BEING INSPECTED . I AM LEFT WITH AN UNINSPECTED AND ROTTED CAR UNTIL THEY CAN TAKE IT IN. HYUNDAI DOES NOT GIVE OUT LOANER CARS! *TR
2002 HYUNDAI SONATA EXPERIENCED A FLAT TIRE DUE TO A LEAKY VALVE. *TS TWO DAYS AFTER THE TIRES WERE REPLACED THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE WENT FLAT DUE TO A LEAKY STEM VALVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE TIRE DEALER AND THE TIRE WAS REMOUNTED WITH A NEW STEM VALVE. THREE DAYS LATER THE SAME TIRE WAS FLAT AGAIN AND A FEW DAYS LATER THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRE WAS FLAT ALSO. AFTER INSPECTING THE WHEELS THE CONSUMER OBSERVED THAT THE TIRE BULGE WAS CAUSING THE WHEEL COVER TO SPIN. THE COVER WOULD SPIN UNTIL THE STEM VALVE WAS PRESSED AGAINST THE EDGE OF THE ACCESS HOLE IN THE WHEEL COVER. EVENTUALLY THE WHEEL COVER WOULD CUT INTO THE STEM VALVE AND CAUSE A FLAT TIRE. IT WAS LATER DETERMINED THAT THE HUB CAPS HAD BEEN INSTALLED INCORRECTLY. AFTER REMOVING ALL FOUR HUB CAPS THE VEHICLE HAD NO MORE FLAT TIRES. *NM
2002 HYUNDAI SONATA. HAVING PROBLEM PUTTING FUEL IN THE VEHICLE*CW THE CONSUMER STATED IT SEEMED AS THOUGH THE PRESSURE VALVE WAS NOT OPENING CORRECTLY WHEN FUEL WAS ADDED. ALSO, LAST FALL THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE WAS LEANING IN AND HE THOUGHT IT WAS A BROKEN TIE ROD, BUT WHEN HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC, HE WAS TOLD THE SUB FRAME OF THE VEHICLE HAD RUSTED THROUGH. THE CONSUMER LEARNED THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER STATED HE NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE.*JB
VEHICLE WAS HIT AT 65 MPH IN A SIDE IMPACT COLLISION . UPON IMPACT, DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY.VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH FRONTAL AND SIDE AIR BAGS CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
THE BUTTON ON THE SAFETY BELT LATCH IS LARGE AND RIGHT AT THE POSITION WHERE YOUR ELBOW RESTS BY YOUR SIDE, AND WHEN IT HITS THE LATCH, IT POPS OPEN THE LATCH. MANY TIMES ON THE ROAD, MY WIFE HAS ACCIDENTLY BEEN UNLATCHED FROM HER SAFETY BELT. IT SHOULDN'T BE THAT EASY TO OPEN THE LATCH. IF IT DOES IT WHEN YOU'RE JUST DRIVING ALONG, I'D BE AFRAID OF WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF A PASSENGER WAS JARRED IN AN ACCIDENT.*AK
DEALERSHIP DOESN'T HAVE PARTS FOR RECALL 02V145000 REPAIRS CONCERNING AIR BAG SENSOR, AND DOESN'T KNOW WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WITHOUT ANY INDICATION ENGINE WOULD STALL. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED, BUT CANT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL 02V145 AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE REPAIRS, HOWEVER THE DEALER STATED THE EARLIEST APPOINTMENT AVAILABLE WAS A MONTH LATER, THE CONSUMER DOES NOT FEEL THAT THIS IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS TO BE DONE . *SLC
THE BRAKES MAKE AN EXTREMELY LOUD SCREECHING SOUND, MAINLY WHEN BREAKING. IT IS LOUD ENOUGH TO ATTRACT QUITE A BIT OF ATTENTION. IT SCARES PEDESTRIANS AND OTHER VEHICLES. IT SOUNDS SIMILAR TO THE WARNING SOUND MADE BY WORN BRAKES. WE HAVE MADE COMPLAINTS TO THE DEALER ON 6 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THEY SAID THAT THEY HAVE GLAZED OUR BRAKES AND REPLACED OUR BRAKE PADS AND THAT THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE FIXED. THEY ADVISED US THAT ALL HYUNDAIS DO THIS BECAUSE OF GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS ON THE CONTENT OF BRAKE PADS. I'VE ALSO CALLED THE HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER AND THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT NOTHING CAN BE DONE AND THAT THIS IS NORMAL. THE BRAKES MAKE A NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED- THEY CAN'T BE SAFE. IT IS VERY STRESSFUL DRIVING A VEHICLE WITH BRAKES THAT SOUND LIKE THEY COULD QUIT AT ANY TIME. MR
INTERMITTLY WHILE APPLYING BRAKES AT A STOP POSITION CAR CONTINUED TO ROLL. DEALER INFORMED THAT AIR HAD TO BE REMOVED FROME BRAKE LINE. PROVIDE FUTHER INFORMATION. PH
WHILE SITTING IN VEHICLE WITH THE SEAT BELT ON, IF CONSUMER MAKES ANY KIND OF MOVEMENTSEAT BELT TIGHTEN UP. CONSUMER HAS TO UNHOOK THE SEAT BELT AND FASTEN IT. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE WHEN DRIVING OR IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. TS. *AK
