THE ESC LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. I NOTED NHTSA REFERENCE #09V122000.
ESC IT'S ON AND WILL NOT TURN OFF. I FOUND A FEW BLOGS INDICATING A RECALL BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME AND THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT LIGHT BLINKS WHETHER SOMEONE IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OR NOT. MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THE AIR BAG SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT NO LONGER WORKS, BUT HE COULDN'T TELL ME IF THE AIR BAG WOULD DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT. I'VE READ ON THE INTERNET THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG SENSOR BUT WHEN I CALLED HYUNDAI CORPORATE THEY COULDN'T FIND A RECALL. I THINK THE RECALL WAS CLOSED BUT IT NEEDS TO BE REOPENED AGAIN BECAUSE THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THE AIR BAG SENSOR BY ITSELF COSTS ALMOST $1,100 NOT INCLUDING LABOR. A LOT OF PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD THAT AND THEREFORE WILL NOT GET IT FIXED. WHICH MEANS HYUNDAI IS GOING TO EVENTUALLY GET SUED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE GOING TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED BEFORE HYUNDAI DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THIS? I'VE READ OVER AND OVER ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM FOR PEOPLE WITH HYUNDAI'S. IT'S ALWAYS THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR THAT MALFUNCTIONS. THANK YOU FOR ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO GET THE HYUNDAI PASSENGER AIR BAG RECALLED.
REAR PASSENGER SIDE HANDLE FELL OFF, REAR DRIVERS SIDE HANDLE STOPPED WORKING. ELECTRICAL GOES IN AND OUT (I.E. WINDOWS, LOCK AND UNLOCK, CRUISE CONTROL) VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN HANDLES STOPPED WORKING OR CAME OFF IN HAND ATTEMPTING TO OPEN DOOR. ELECTRICAL HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS ON AND OFF STATIONARY AND IN MOTION.
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND IS NOT GOING OFF. WORRIED ABOUT AIR BAG SAFETY.
WHAT HAPPENED: WE WERE AT A FRIEND'S HOUSE FOR DINNER. WE CAME TO THE CAR LATE AT NIGHT AND PUT THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION BUT THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN. I TRIED TO ROCK THE STEERING WHEEL SLIGHTLY WHILE TRIED TO TURN THE KEY WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS. WITHOUT ENGINE POWER, NO STEERING WAS AVAILABLE. FORTUNATELY, MY FRIEND DROPPED US AT OUR HOME. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER AT GLASSMAN HYUNDAI IN SOUTHFIELD THE NEXT MORNING (JULY 28) WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY SINCE STEERING WAS LOCKED. I SAW A MECHANIC WORKING ON A SIMILAR CAR IN THE PARKING LOT WITH SIMILAR ISSUE AND HE SAID THAT HE WILL BE WORKING ON MY CAR ALSO. HE ALSO SAID THAT IGNITION KEY CYLINDER ARE WEARING OUT AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT. COUNTER PERSON SAID THE KEY CYLINDER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT THE WHOPPING COST OF $650. LATER SHE SAID $850 UPFRONT. LATER DECLINED TO SERVICE AND I HAD TO TOW TO ANOTHER PLACE AND THEY REPLACED KEY CYLINDER FOR $380. THIS IS DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE SINCE I COULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON A FREEWAY AFTER A REST STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF NIGHT. I HAD NEVER ENCOUNTERED THIS ISSUE IN MY 45 YEARS OF DRIVING. I DID SOME INTERNET RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE ON THE SAME CARS. THE SWITCH IS FAULTY AND SEEMS LIKE IT IS WEARING OUT FASTER FOR SOME REASON. I HAVE ONLY 73K MILES ON IT AND THE CAR SITS IN THE GARAGE MOST OF THE TIME. THE DEALER SAYS THAT IT IS NOT COVERED. I THINK HYUNDAI SHOULD TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX THIS ISSUE FOR ALL 2007 SONATA VEHICLE. I THINK HYUNDAI SHOULD OWN THIS ISSUE AND REPLACE THE CYLINDER LOCKS ON ALL SUCH VEHICLES AT NO COST TO THE OWNERS.
DRIVER DOOR LATCH WEAKENS OVER TIME AND FAILS TO FULLY SEAL. DOOR WILL NOT FULLY STAY FULLY CLOSED. 'DOOR OPEN' CHIME AND LIGHTS WILL GO OFF WHILE DRIVING WHEN GRAVITY AND INERTIA AFFECT THE DOOR. DOOR DOES NOT SWING OPEN WHILE DRIVING BUT IS NONETHELESS A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS PART SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A LIFETIME PART ABLE TO HANDLE MUCH MORE STRESS THAN THE TYPICAL LIFE OF A CAR.
FOR THE SECOND TIME, I HAVE HAD OIL LEAKING OUT OF THE VALVE COVER OR TIMING BELT COVER ONTO THE ALTERNATOR. SO MUCH SO, THAT THE ALTERNATOR BECOMES SOAKED AND "SHORTS OUT" ACCORDING TO A HYUNDAI DEALER. MECHANICS WHO HAVE REPAIRED THIS ALL AGREE THAT THIS IS A HAZARD AND PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUE. "FIRE RISK" AND "SUDDEN COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS" WERE BOTH MENTIONED. HYUNDAI STATES THAT MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO MILEAGE AND SAYS THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM DESPITE THE OBVIOUS RISKS THAT THEIR MECHANICS AND OTHER MECHANICS MENTION. AFTER VERY LITTLE EFFORT IN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, IT IMMEDIATELY BECAME OBVIOUS THAT THIS IS A COMMON RECALL FOR HYUNDAI CONCERNING THIS ENGINE(3.3L V6). THE RECALLS NAME OTHER HYUNDAI PRODUCTS BUT FOR SOME REASON SKIP MY VEHICLE EVEN THOUGH TWO REPS AT HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE STATE THAT "YOU ARE DESCRIBING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM". WE HAVE SPENT CLOSE TO $1000 ON THIS ONE ISSUE IN THE LAST YEAR. IT NEARLY CAUSED MY WIFE TO BE STRANDED ON THE INTERSTATE 10HRS FROM HOME. AND HYUNDAI ADMITS THAT IT IS AN ISSUE BUT BECAUSE MY VIN IS NOT LISTED, THEY REFUSE TO HELP FIX OR REFUND ANY THING THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN SPENT ON THIS MANUFACTURE DEFECT. AGAIN, I EMPHASIZE THAT THIS IS A PUBLIC SAFETY HAZARD THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. DESPITE RECENT REPAIR, THIS PROBLEM STILL CONTINUES. THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT 70MPH EACH TIME THIS ISSUE OCCURRED. I HAVE RECORDS OF REPAIR FROM INDEPENDENT MECHANICS AND STATEMENT FROM HYUNDAI STATING THIS PROBLEM. THIS OCCURRED AT 118,000 AND 132,000 MILES. IT SEEMS LIKE IT OCCURRED PRIOR TO THIS AS WELL(LOOKING FOR RECORDS).
CAR IDLES BUT WHEN PEDAL IS DEPRESSED ENGINE DOES NOT ACCELERATE. WHEN IN DRIVE OR REVERSE CAR MOVES VERY SLOWLY WITH PEDAL TO THE FLOOR. IT HAPPENED 2 DAYS AGO WHEN STARTING AFTER SITTING FOR 2MTHS. DEALER SUGGESTED DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY AND RE-CONNECT. THAT SEEMED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, BUT IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN!!! NOW FEAR OF DRIVING VEHICLE!!! I HAVE READ BLOG'S REGARDING OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE!!! WHAT IS HYUNDAI DOING TO ALLEVIATE THE PROBLEM AND TO AVOID OWNER BARRING THE EXPENSE OF THE DEFECT???
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ENGINE SEIZED AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND OIL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.
2007 HYUNDAI SONATA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ENGINE FAILURE. *LD *JS
WHEN THERE IS MOISTURE IN THE AIR, MY CAR BATTERY AND SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. I LOSE MY POWER STEERING, MY WIPERS GO VERY SLOW AND A BELT STARTS TO SQUEAL. ALSO, AFTER ABOUT 30 MINUTES, THE RADIO STOPS WORKING AND ALL INDICATOR LIGHTS COME ON. WHEN IT IS RAINING, I AM UNABLE TO USE MY DEFROST OR AIR CONDITIONING AS WELL.
MY ESC LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. IT DOES NOT TURN OFF WHEN I PRESS THE ESC BUTTON ON AND OFF BUT IT DOES EXTINGUISH WHEN I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND THEN RESTART.
DOOR HANDLES HAVE ALL FALLEN OFF THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR
PASSENGERS SIDE FRONT SEAT AIRBAG SENSOR WENT BAD. MADE AIRBAG LIGHT COME ON. TOOK CAR TO DEALER THEY SAID SENSOR WAS BAD AND WITH LIGHT ON AIRBAG WOULDN'T WORK. SO I HAD IT FIXED . 1800.00 AND A NEW NEW LATER IT'S FIXED. BUT HOW MANY PEOPLE OUT THEIR IS GOING TO SPEND 1800. ON A 2007. IF THAT'S NOT A SAFETY CONCERN I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS. LOTS OF BAD AIRBAG SENSORS OUT THERE.
THE FRONT DRIVERS SEAT HAS STARTED ROCKING, FORWARD AND BACK. I BELIEVE THE ATTACHMENT TO THE TRAVELER ON THE FRONT OF THE SEAT HAS FAILED. THE REAR ATTACHMENT IS STILL THERE, BUT THE SEAT ACTUALLY ROCKS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION, WHICH SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER, SINCE IT IS A DESIGN DEFECT. WHEN YOU ACCELERATE AND DECELERATE THE SEAT ROCKS BASED UPON THE FORCES, WHICH COULD LEAD TO A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT. THE CONDITION HAPPENED WHEN I WAS GETTING OUT OF THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BECAME INOPERABLE AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 09V122000 (SERVICES BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND 09V280000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
THE ESC OFF LIGHT COMES ON AND PUSHING THE ON/OFF SWITCH DOES NOT PUT IT OUT.
THE ISSUE IS THE TENSIONER FOR THE TIMING CHAIN. THE TENSIONER FAILED, CAUSING A VERY EXPENSIVE ENGINE REPAIR. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE 6 CYL TENSIONER, BUT NOT THE 4 CYL WHICH I HAVE. MY RESEARCH SAYS THE SAME TENSIONERS WERE USED FOR BOTH ENGINES. IT FAILED AT 169,000. IT WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT WHEN IT FAILED TO START. IT WOULD TURNOVER BUT WOULD NOT CATCH. I HAVE ALL THE DAMAGED PARTS SAVED BY THE MECHANIC. IF I WAS DRIVING WHEN IT FAILED, IT WOULD HAVE NOT ONLY BLOWN THE ENGINE BUT MOST LIKELY WOULD HAVE STOPPED MY CAR ON WHATEVER ROAD I WAS DRIVING ON, INCLUDING AN EXPRESSWAY.
DRIVING AND THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW SPONTANEOUSLY BROKE INTO PIECES. AS I DID MORE RESEARCH OTHERS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. COULD TELL NOTHING BUT IT, DID NOT SHATTER JUST FELL ALMOST, LIKE TOO MUCH PRESSURE. *TR
TAKATA RECALL. MY CAR HAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECTS LIKE THE ESC AND THE AIRBAG SIGNS ARE ON. SO I WANT IT TO BE RECALLED. THANK YOU. HYUNDAI SONATA 2007
MY AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR OVER A YEAR. COME TO FIND OUT MY AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE IS FAULTY. AN ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC GRACEFULLY CHECKED MY AIR BAG CODES FOR FREE. THIS IS NOW PUTTING MY LIFE AND ANYONE RIDING WITH ME IN DANGER SEEING AS NONE OF MY AIR BAGS WILL DEPLOY. ACCORDING TO SEVERAL FORUMS I'VE SEEN, THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM. HYUNDAI NEEDS TO SEND OUT A RECALL ON SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NEVER FAIL. MY VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN A COLLISION.
12/22/2016 I WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION WITH A STOPPED CAR WHICH I HIT AT ABOUT 40 MPH. MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. CITY STREET. SPOTSYLVANIA VA. 6:30 PM.
MY DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON SUDDENLY ONE DAY. I DON'T KNOW WHY SINCE I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO THE CAR. I SEARCHED ONLINE AND SEE PREVIOUS HYUNDAI RECALLS ON THE AIRBAG FOR SONATA. 07 SONATA WASN'T INCLUDED THOUGH.
THE "ESC OFF" INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATES RANDOMLY AND CANNOT BE TURNED OFF USING THE INTERIOR BUTTON THAT IS DESIGNED TO DO SO. LOOKING AT SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND ISSUES, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS LIKELY CAUSED BY A MALFUNCTION IN THE STOP LAMP SWITCH ASSEMBLY THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR OTHER VEHICLES IN THE MAKE/MODEL/YEAR. PLEASE EXTEND THIS RECALL TO INCLUDE MY VEHICLE.
2007 HYUNDAI SONATAS, BRAKE SWITCH AND OTHER RECALLS LISTED. BRING SOME KIDS LOCKED, ESC LITE CAME ON, WOULD NOT GO OVER 40, COULD NOT GET IN PARK. TOOK TO BIG O AND THEY CALLED HYUNDAI CORPORATION AND WAS GIVEN CASE NUMBER AND TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO SWOPE HYUNDAI ELIZABETHTOWN KENTUCKY WHICH I DID. SWIPE IGNORED CASE NUMBER AND ADDITIONAL RECALLS EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE ADDITIONAL RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM. SWIPE REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING. BRAKE ROTORS, CYLINDERS, AND PADS RUINED AND SWIPE REFUSED TO FIX EVEN THOUGH WE COULD SHOW BRAKES HAD BEEN INSPECTED JUST A FEW MONTHS BEFORE THIS ALL HAPPENED AND ALL WAS FINE.
TOOK THE CAR INTO THE SHOP FOR AN AIRBAG LIGHT. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS A BAD OC MAT SENSOR. I WAS QUOTED $1000+ FOR PARTS AND LABOR. I ASKED WHY THIS WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE RECALL BECAUSE MY CAR WAS IN THE RANGE 06-07, THEY SAID MY VIN DID NOT INDICATE AN ACTIVE RECALL. I CALLED CORPORATE AND THEY ALSO SAID I WAS SOL. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE FULLY RECALLED, FAR TOO MANY OF THEM ARE FAILING AND HYUNDAI REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THEM. *TR
THIS IS NOW THE 4TH TIME I HAVE HAD TO TAKE THE CAR IN FOR AN AIRBAG LIGHT THAT INDICATES A BAD SEAT BELT SENSOR. FRUSTRATED TO HAVE TO STILL DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE. STATIONARY ON START UP LIGHT GOES OFF THEN COMES RIGHT BACK ON.

ON DEC. 10, 2016 , WHILE WAITING FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT (STATIONARY) .. .THERE WAS AN EXPERIENCE OF A VERY LOUD EXPLOSION...WHILE WAITING FOR THE TRAFFIC LIGHT.. NOT KNOWING IF I WAS HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE OR THE UNKNOWN, I COVERED MY HEAD ...BECAUSE OF THE PARTS FROM INSIDE MY CAR, WAS FLYING FORWARD, AND ALSO SMELLED A SLIGHT BURNING SMELL INSIDE. I CONTINUED TO COVER MY HEAD... PARTS FROM INSIDE THE CAR WAS...--THE SRS COVER (DRIVER'S SIDE, FRONT) --THE UPPER DOOR HANDLE(DRIVER'S SIDE,REAR) . NOT SEEING ANY INDICATIONS OF ANOTHER VEHICLE HITTING ME..AND ALSO HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY , WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN TO TURN LEFT..I PULLED OVER TO FURTHER CHECK MY VEHICLE.... MY VALVE COVER GASKET LEAKED OIL ONTO THE ALTERNATOR AND CAUSED IT TO FAIL PREMATURELY. MY RESEARCH HAS UNCOVERED MANY HYUNDAI VEHICLES HAVING RECALLS WITH THE SAME ENGINE SPECS BUT SONATA IS NOT COVERED. WHY IS THIS? WHY ARE SO MANY CONSUMERS PAYING FOR THIS PROBLEM ON THE SONATA WHEN OTHER HYUNDAI VEHICLE (SANTA FE; VERACRUZ) HAVING IDENTICAL ENGINE SETUPS ARE BEING RECALLED? I REALIZE MY SONATA IS ALMOST 10 YEARS OLD BUT SHOULDN'T IT STILL BE A CONSIDERATION?
WHILE DRIVING, MY ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT ON THE DASH WILL RANDOMLY COME ON. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT TO TURN OFF IS TO RESTART THE CAR. RELATED TO THIS, THE BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE NOT ILLUMINATED AND THE CAR HAS REFUSED TO BE SET INTO PARK WHEN THE ESC LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED. THIS HAPPENS ALWAYS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, AND THE ESC LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OUT (EVEN IF THE ESC BUTTON IS PRESSED) UNLESS THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. IN TURN, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE REAR ENDED THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,061.
ONE MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK, I PLACED THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE, BUT IT WOULD NOT START. I TURNED THE KEY OVER SEVERAL TIMES AND IT FINALLY STARTED UP. THIS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS WHETHER I WAS AT HOME, WORK, OR ANYWHERE IN PUBLIC. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE STARTER BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE WITH OTHER VEHICLES AND I WAS GOING TO HAVE IT REPLACED. THEN I STARTED HAVING ISSUES GETTING INTO THE CAR. I WOULD TRY TO UNLOCK THE DRIVER'S DOOR WITH THE KEY AND IT WOULD NOT UNLOCK THE FIRST TIME. I WOULD HAVE TO UNLOCK IT AGAIN (ESSENTIALLY UNLOCKING ALL OF THE DOORS) AND THEN THEY WOULD LOCK. I ALSO STARTED HAVING ISSUES LOCKING THE CAR DOORS FROM INSIDE THE CAR. I WOULD PRESS THE LOCK SWITCH ON THE DRIVER'S DOOR AND ALL OF THE DOORS WOULD LOCK EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVER'S DOOR. IT ONLY LOCKS IF I MANUALLY PUSH THE LOCK SWITCH. I DECIDED TO RESEARCH THE ISSUE SO I WENT AND READ SOME ONLINE DISCUSSION BOARDS. THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WHO HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND I FIGURED THAT PERHAPS IT WAS A BAD SENSOR SO I TOOK THE CAR TO A HYUNDAI DEALER. I ASKED THEM TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND THEY CAME BACK AND SAID THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY TOLD ME THAT EVENTUALLY I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE KEY AND THAT I MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO GET IN THE CAR OR START IT AGAIN BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. ON A SEPARATE ISSUE, WHENEVER IT RAINS WATER GETS IN THE TRUNK GATE. WHEN I LIFT THE TRUNK GATE UP WATER COMES RUNNING DOWN INTO THE TRUNK. I HAVE HAD TO LIFT IT UP ONE QUARTER, THEN HALF WAY, THEN THREE QUARTERS WAY ALLOWING WATER TO RUN DOWN ALONG THE TRACK AND OUT OF THE TRUNK GATE. IF I AM LUCK ONLY A HANDFUL OF WATER EVER MAKES IT INTO THE TRUNK.

THE LAST WEEK OF OCTOBER 2016, MY SONATA''S AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS STAYED ILLUMINATED FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS. SIMULTANEOUSLY, THE RIGHT PASSENGER SEAT'S SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT HAS STAYED ON EVEN WHEN NO ONE IS IN THE SEAT. ALSO, THE "PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG OFF" LIGHT HAS COME ON.
CAR HORNS ARE USUALLY OPERATED BY SMALL BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. MY HYUNDAI SONATA HORN IS SOUNDED BY PUSHING ON THE LARGE PAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS REQUIRES A LARGE FORCE. MY STRONG WIFE CAN'T PUSH HARD ENOUGH TO SOUND THE HORN. I REGARD THIS AS A BAD DESIGN.
THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT (REMAINS ON CONSTANTLY) AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHTS REMAINS ON EVEN WITH A PASSENGER ABOVE THE WEIGHT LIMIT. THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF AND THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF EVEN WHEN THE SEAT BELT IS HOOKED UP. THERE IS A RECALL FOR FAULTY SENSORS, RECALL NOTICE, 08V161000, FOR 2006 - 2008 HYUNDAI SONATAS BUT MY 2007 IS NOT COVERED? I FEEL LIKE MY SONATA HAS MANY OF THE ISSUES IN PAST RECALLS BUT FOR SOME REASON ISN'T INCLUDED IN THEM (OUTSIDE LIGHTING, ESC LIGHT PERIODICALLY KICKING ON, BRAKE SENSOR FAILING NUMEROUS TIMES, CONTINUOUS ISSUES WITH REAR BRAKES, ETC.) I THINK HYUNDAI SHOULD EXPAND THIS AIRBAG RECALL AS I HOPE WE AREN'T BEING PUT IN HARMS WAY WITH AN UNEXPECTED AIRBAG FAILURE WHEN WE NEED IT MOST.
THE ESC OFF LIGHT COMES ON AND PUSHING THE ON/OFF SWITCH DOES NOT PUT IT OUT. THE ESC BUTTON INDICATOR LIGHT IS NOT ILLUMINATED. IF I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RE START, THE DASH LIGHT GOES OUT SOMETIMES. SO FAR, THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR SOME TIME NOW. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT DOES NOT EVEN TURN ON WHEN A PASSENGER SITS ON THE FRONT SEAT. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT SO I'M NOT SURE WHY THE LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON.
LAST WEEK, I HAD TO HAVE THE FOURTH DOOR HANDLE (ALL, NOW) REPLACED BECAUSE THE PLASTIC BREAKS OFF. THE VEHICLE HAS 65455 MILES. THE FIRST HANDLE REPLACED WAS WHEN THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THIS DEFECT IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE NHTSA SHOULD FORCE A RECALL NOTICE ON THESE. THE LATEST BROKEN HANDLE WAS ON THE DRIVER SIDE. IN THE EVENT THE CAR WAS SUBMERGED, OR A CHILD OR PET WAS LEFT IN A HOT CAR, A RESCUER WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR TO RESCUE THOSE INSIDE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN, AND A NEEDLESS EXPENSE FOR VEHICLE OWNERS.

THE SUN VISOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WILL NOT STAY IN THE UP POSITION. IT CREATES A BLIND SPOT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ENTER TRAFFIC OR MAKE RIGHT HAND TURNS. THE DRIVERS SIDE IS NOW BEGINNING TO DROP AS WELL. IT WILL DROP ABOUT AN INCH AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WILL DROP DOWN EVEN FURTHER BLOCKING MY VISION AND STARTLING ME.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INDICATED THAT THEY WOULD PROVIDE A FOLLOW-UP RESPONSE TO DETERMINE IF THEY OR THE DEALER WOULD ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHTS COME ON WHEN I START THE CAR. THIS IS PARTICULARLY DISCONCERTING BECAUSE I'VE REVIEWED THE ISSUES ON-LINE AND IT'S POSSIBLE THE AIR BAG SYSTEM MAY NOT BE OPERATING PROPERLY. I'VE SEEN THAT OTHER HYUNDAI OWNERS HAVE TRIED TO DEAL WITH THESE SAME ISSUES AND GOTTEN LITTLE OR NO SATISFACTION FROM THEIR HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. THERE WAS AN EXTENDED RECALL NOTICE, 08V161000, ASSOCIATED WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG FOR 2006 - 2008 HYUNDAI SONATAS BUT MY 2007 IS NOT COVERED? IS THERE A WAY TO FIND OUT WHY THAT IS?
ESC RANDOMLY TURNS OFF AND CANNOT BE TURNED BACK ON UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF THEN RESTARTED. THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, SIDE STREETS AND STOPPED IN TRAFFIC. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST YEAR .
SUN VISOR IS OBSTRUCTING THE VIEW OF THE ROAD. IT DOES NOT WANT TO STAY UP ANYMORE DUE TO MECHANICAL FAILURE ON THE BUMPY ROAD. THERE IS TSB OR CAMPAIGN ON IT, BUT LOCAL CLARKSVILLE, MD HYUNDAI DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE THE VISOR.
