BRAKE LIGHT FAULTY IT STAYS ON CONTINUOUSLY.
BRAKE PEDAL LIGHT FAULTY STAYS ON ALWAYS.
THE VALVE COVER GASKET LEAKS OIL ONTO THE EXHAUST.
THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN ACCIEDENTAS OF YET IN THE EVENT OF SOMETHING HAPPEN. MY DASH BROAD HAS CRACKED ALL THE WAY ARCOSS I HAVE BE TOLD THAT IS A HARRAZAD. MY CAR HOME IN DRIVE WAY NEXT MORNING IT WAS CRACK HALF WAY AND NOW ITS CRACK ALL AWAY CROSS.
Engine leaking oil from the front cylinder bank’s valve cover or leaking from the valve cover’s gasket onto the alternator. A sufficient amount of oil could damage the alternator resulting in illumination of the charging system warning lamp and disablement of the charging system. If the vehicle is continually driven with a disabled charging system, the engine can shut off, increasing the risk of a crash.
TAKATA RECALL. ACCIDENT HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY GOING 60 MILES AN HOUR. A DEER CAME OUT OF THE DITCH, MISSED THE DEER. MY DAUGHTER SWERVED INTO THE DITCH AND LAUNCHED OVER A GRAVEL ROAD AND DID A NOSE DIVE INTO A BEAN FIELD. CRASHING THE FRONT END OF THE CAR. THE CAR IS TOTALED.
TAKATA RECALL ON JULY 27, 28 2019 THE ESC LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY CAUSING THE CAR TO STALL DRIVING SOUTH ON I 75 AND LATER ON THE STREETS. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING THE CAR IT DROVE ALONG OK. DURING OUR RETURN TRIP, THE CAR STALLED AGAIN DRIVING NORTH ON I 75 , AND WE PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ONLY SECONDS BEFORE A 18 WHEELER PASSED US WITHIN LESS THAN A FOOT BETWEEN US. ALL FIVE US COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. WE WERE LUCKY TO FIND A NATIONAL REPAIR SHOP OPENED ON A SUNDAY WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR( THE CAR HAS 54,000 MILES ) . THE PART WAS REPLACED AND AFTER 4 HOURS WE WERE ON OUR WAY, MINUS $400 PLUS DOLLARS. RESEARCH INDICATES THAT THIS CONTINUES TO BE AN UNSAFE AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY PROBLEM -THAT THIS SENSOR MUST BE RECALLED- AND THE PUBLIC MADE AWARE OF THE DANGER.
MY CAR DRIVES WHEN PUT IN DRIVE BUT WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN PUT IN REVERSE. I NOTICED THIS WHEN I CAME OUT OF A SHOP I VISITED AND TRIED TO BACK UP THE CAR.
MY DASH IS CRACKING IN TWO DIFFERENT PLACES AND 1 IS CLOSE TO THE AIR BAG AND IT CONCERNS ME IF I GET IN CAR ACCIDENT THAT MY AIR BAGS DEPLOY AND AFRAID THE WHOLE DASH WILL COME OFF AND IT DOES NOT SEEM SAFE TO ME
THE PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD HAS TWO LONG CRACKS AROUND OR WITHIN THE AIRBAG AREA. BASED ON SOME GOOGLE SEARCH, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE SONATA. I HAVE THE SINGLE OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. THERE WAS MAJOR ACCIDENT, AND NO FRONT COLLISION OF THIS VEHICLE. THE CRACKS APPARENTLY ARE DUE TO POOR RUBBER QUALITY. THE CRACKS HAVE BEEN NOTICED FOR ROUGHLY A WEEK, THOUGH THE EXACT DATE OF ITS FIRST APPEARNCE IS UNCERTAIN.
MY DASHBOARD ON PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR STARTED CRACKING LAST YEAR. IT IS OVER THE AIRBAG SO I NOW TRY NOT TO PUT ANYONE IN THAT SEAT OR SIT THERE MYSELF. IT STARTED OUT AS 1 CRACK AND EVERYDAY THERE IS MORE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SEVERAL INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO REFERRED THE CONTACT TO HERITAGE HYUNDAI TOWSON (801 YORK RD, TOWSON, MD, 877-387-5495) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE FELL OFF OR BROKE OFF WHILE OPENING DOOR STRONG SMELL OF GAS ONLY AFTER FILLING CAR UP WITH GAS AND SMALL PUDDLE UNDER REAR GAS TANK AFTER SITTING ALL NIGHT ONLY HAPPENS IF TANK IS MORE THEN 3/4 FILLED
AS I WAS DRIVING UP A HILL IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD, THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING EXTREMELY LOUD NOISES AND IT WOULD NO LONGER RESPOND TO THE ACCELERATOR. THIS WAS ON A NARROW TWO WAY STREET. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER WHO SAID IT NEEDS A USED MOTOR PUT IN IT FOR $4600 AS IT HAS "AN INTERNAL ENGINE PROBLEM" WITHOUT GOING IN TO SPECIFICS. ENGINE HAD 97,000 MILES AND CAR WAS WELL-MAINTAINED.
STALLS RANDOMLY AND INTERMITTENTLY ANYTIME AND AT ANY SPEED WITHOUT WARNING. IT HAPPENS WHILE CRUISING ON A FREEWAY OR STOPPED ON A LIGHT.
REAR END OF VEHICLE SWAYS AROUND AS IF DRIVING ON ICE. FEELS EXACTLY LIKE DESCRIPTIONS OF ISSUE WITH RECALL 13V354000. HYUNDAI SAYS VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL. EXCESSIVE PLAY IN REAR END, AND VERY NOTICEABLE BURNING SMELL COMING FROM REAR END AFTER DRIVING. CAUSING EXCESSIVE WEAR OF REAR BRAKES AND TIRES. HAS CAUSED REAR BRAKE HOSES TO FAIL. OCCASIONALLY BRAKE PEDAL SINKS TO FLOOR WHILE DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, VEHICLE FEELS AS IF A GUST OF WIND COULD SEND IT OFF THE ROAD. NEED TO DO A TON OF STEERING TO KEEP THE CAR GOING STRAIGHT. FRONT END WAS ALIGNED 25,000 MILES AGO.

THE CONTACT COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE P0014 CODE APPEARED AND THE CAM SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CAM SENSOR WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ONCE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VIVID AND RR VIVID SOLENOIDS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND A FULL SERVICE WAS COMPLETED, INCLUDING FLUSHING THE ENGINE WITH CLEANSER AND CHANGING THE OIL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT AT JIM BURKE HYUNDAI (1424 5TH AVE N, BIRMINGHAM, AL 35203, (205) 386-959). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JIM BURKE HYUNDAI WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND CODES: P0013 AND P0011 (CVVT AND ASSY NOT HOLDING THE CAMSHAFT TIMING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 79,930.

ISSUE 3, REAR BRAKES NOISE AND HOT. 104, 051 MILES. 24 OCT 2017. RR CALIPER SEIZED. PADS, ROTORS BOTH SIDES REAR AND FRONT REPLACED. RIGHT REAR CALIPER REPLACED. BILL MARSH RO NO 427604. ISSUE 4 REAR BRAKES NOISE. TRAVERSE REAR CALIPER FAILED AGAIN. REAR ROTORS, PADS, AND RR CALIPER REPLACED. 28 FEB 2019. BILL MARSH HYUNDAI REPAIR ORDER 432896. 4 REPLACEMENTS OF RIGHTREAR BRAKE CALIPER , BRAKE PAD, AND ROTORS ARE EXCESSIVE AND ABNORMAL. THIS MODEL YEAR SONATA SHOULD BE ADDED TO RECALL FOR REAR BRAKES. MANY MORE COMPLAINTS OF PREMATURE REAR BRAKES FAILURE ARE NOTED ONLINE FOR MODEL YEARS 2009, 2010. BRAKES GET EXTREMELY HOT AND FUEL ECONOMY SUFFER GREATLY WHEN THIS FAILURE OCCURS.
POWER STEERING GETS STIFF AND MAKES IT HARD TO TURN INTERMITTENTLY. I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO CHARGE ME $145 JUST TO SAY NOTHING IS WRONG.

A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 15535396. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
THE ALARM WILL SOUND RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING OR PARKED. WE ARE NOT SURE WHAT IS GOING ON. IT HAPPENS DOZENS OF TIMES A DAY AND ALARMS MY TEENAGE DRIVER. THE BUTTON IS NOT PUSHED, NOTHING IS TOUCHING THE CAR. JUST RANDOM. WE WANT THIS FIXED BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN, ESPECIALLY WHEN SHE IS DRIVING AND THE ALARM GOES OFF FOR NO REASON.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SURESKY HYUNDAI (2 HATFIELD LN, GOSHEN, NY 10924, (845) 294-5177) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CROSSMEMBER WAS CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. *TT
I BOUGHT THE USED CAR IN THE SPRING, IT CURRENTLY HAS 44,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN THE WEATHER GOT COLD, IT BEGAN TO JERK VIOLENTLY AT 20 MPH WHEN I DECELERATE. WHEN I SLOW THE VEHICLE IT FEELS AS IF SOMEONE HAS HIT ME FROM BEHIND. WHEN MAKING RIGHT HAND TURNS I AM CONCERNED THAT THE CAR WILL SWITCH GEARS AND LURCH ME INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. ITEMS ON MY SEAT THAT ARE NOT SECURE ARE PROPELLED TO THE FLOOR. I WILL NOT LET ANYONE ELSE OPERATE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I FEEL THAT IT WOULD BE VERY EASY TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE DURING THE DECELERATION. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI CORPORATION- MISTAKENLY TOLD ME IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEN RECANTED WHEN THEY REALIZED I WAS A SECOND OWNER WHICH ONLY COVERS 5 YEARS OR 60,000. HYUNDAI REPRESENTATIVE STATES THAT THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, THAT THERE ARE NO TECHNICAL BULLETINS APPLYING TO MY AUTOMOBILE. REFUSES TO FIX IT FREE OF CHARGE DESPITE THERE BEING COUNTLESS OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME NATURE ON THE NHTSA SITE.
VEHICLE SWAYS OUT OF CONTROL WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP OR MAKE A TURN. TOOK IT TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TO FIND THE PROBLEM. THEY DID AN INSPECTION AND DROVE IT AND SAID THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG. I ASKED THEM TO DRIVE IT AGAIN WITH ME IN IT AND THEN THEY INSPECTED IT AGAIN AND SAID THAT HE REAR SUB FRAME IS RUSTED OUT. THE CAR HAS NO OUTWARD SIGNS OF RUST, BUT APPARENTLY THE SUBFRAMES ON HYUNDAIS ARE KNOWN FOR THIS.
PASSENGER EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE FELL OFF. VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN WENT TO OPEN DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF IN MY HAND. HAD TO OPEN DOOR FROM INSIDE. CHECKED GOOGLE UNDERSTAND THIS IS ONGOING PROBLEM WITH HYUNDAI MODELS. MANY COMPLAINTS .
TRANSMISSION SHIFT DOWN
WE BELIEVE OUR VEHICLE HAS A TAKATA AIR BAG SYSTEM. IT IS A 2009 HYUNDAI SONATA THAT WAS BUILT IN 2008. IN NOVEMBER 2018, CRACKS STARTED TO APPEAR ON THE DASHBOARD ABOVE THE AIR BAGS. IT HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE SINCE. THE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS COME ON AND IS CONSISTENTLY STAYING ON WHILE DRIVING THE CAR. THE BOOK SAYS TO CONTACT THE DEALER. ALL INDICATIONS FROM INFORMATION ONLINE STATE THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND MUST BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. WE FEEL CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING IT. IT WAS PURCHASED NEW ON 09/10/2008. WE BELIEVE THAT THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN LISTED IN THE RECALLS FOR THE HYUNDAI SONATAS YEARS 2007-2008 SINCE IT WAS BUILT IN 2008.
WHEN STARTING THE CAR, ENGINE MAKES SCREECHING LOUD NOISES MOSTLY ON COLD CRANKS. THE IGNITION SWITCH BY PASSES THE ALT POSITION AND STARTS THE CAR. MAKES LOUD NOISE LIKE STARTER IS NOT RELEASING.
REAR CONTROL ARM COMPONENTS ARE FAULTY AND REQUIRE $2K IN REPLACING ENTIRE CONTROL ARM COMPONENT. HYUNDAI STATES IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER #113 DUE TO CURRENTLY NOT BEING REGISTERED IN A "SALT STATE" HOWEVER RECALL IS EXACT ISSUE AS CURRENT ISSUE WITH MY CAR. PROBLEM WAS RECENTLY IDENTIFIED AFTER MULTIPLE TRIPS TO THE SHOP TO DETERMINE ISSUE WITH THE CAR. CAR HAS ISSUE WITH CONTROL, BRAKING AND SHAKING WHILE IN TRANSIT AS WELL AS A BURNING SMELL FROM THE REAR END.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE CAR STARTING INTERMITTENTLY OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS. THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD COMES UP BUT THE CAR WILL NOT TURN OVER. PREVIOUSLY I HAD TO GET A NEW STARTER ON 10/29/2015 WITH 40524 MILES ON THE CAR AT THIS TIME; THE 2009 SONATA WAS THEN ABOUT 6 YEARS OLD; I PAID $100 AS IT WAS JUST SLIGHTLY OVER 5 YEAR AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WOULD PRORATE IT. I HAVE BEEN HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE AGAIN SINCE JANUARY 2018 WITH THE CAR STARTING/TURNING OVER INTERMITTENTLY; LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD COMES UP BUT CAR DOES NOT TURN OVER. I TOOK TO DEALER TODAY AND THE CAR HAD 60925 MILES ON IT, THE DEALERSHIP PERSON STATED THEY WERE 90-95% SURE IT WAS THE STARTER BUT NOT 100% AND ESTIMATED THE COST FOR THE NEW STARTER TO BE OVER $500. THE DEALERSHIP PERSON SAID THAT THE WARRANTY ON THE STARTER PUT IN ON 10/29/2015 WAS 12 MONTHS/12000, AND THEREFORE NO COST ADJUSTMENT.

THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. ..*BF *BF *TR *JB

THE DEALER PERFORMED NUMEROUS ELECTRICAL REPAIRS TO THE DASHBOARD, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,633.
WHILE DRIVING, THE ESC OFF LIGHT COMES ON. IT DOES SO RANDOMLY, BUT FREQUENTLY WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING.

TAKATA RECALL THE DASHBOARD IS SERVERLY CRACKING OVER THE AIR BAG AN ACROSS THE DASHBOARD. STARTED IN JULY AND GETTING WORST. I NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT THE BODY OF THE CAR IS IN GOOD CONDITION FOR ITS AGE. MILEAGE IS DUE TO HIGHWAY DRIVING.( I DO NOT KNOW HOW THE AIRBAG IS SETUP IN DASHBOARD BUT THERE TWO LONG CRACK ABOUT 10 TO12 INCHES APART FROM THE WINDSHIELD TO THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT AND NOW ANOTHER ONE ABOUT 8 INCHES COMING FROM THE SIDE OF THAT GOING ACROSS THE DASHBOARD.)

The contact stated that while his grandson was holding the inside rear driver's side door handle to exit the vehicle, the door handle cut his hand and he started bleeding abundantly. The contact and other family members were able to provide first aid to his grandson. The contact also stated that while holding the inside front passenger's side door handle to exit the vehicle, the door handle cut his hand. The contact immediately sought medical assistance at the nearest pharmacy. The contact stated that the vehicle door handles shining coating had peeled off and the remaining part of the coating had curled up and formed sharp blades. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that all four door handles needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that they would send out a field technician to inspect the vehicle. The contact stated that the manufacturer followed up and inquired for his signature so they could proceed with the inspection of his vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT STOPPING THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS EVENT HAPPENED DURING A DRIVE. MY ESC LIGHT IS ON BIG PROBBLEM IM ASSUMING. MY PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AS WELL BOTH INDICATE ARE OFF AND NON WORKING.

WE PULLED OVER TO CHECK THE USUAL STUFF LIKE OIL AND ANTIFREEZE AND OTHER FLUIDS. BUT ALL OF THEM WERE OK. WE TRIED TO LEAVE AGAIN WITH NO SUCCESS. WE HAD NO POWER. THE ENGINE WOULD TURN OVER BUT WHEN WE TRIED TO PRESS THE GAS NOTHING WOULD GO. SO WE STOPPED THE CAR WAITED FOR A WHILE AND THEN THE CAR STARTED. WE COUNTINUED OUR TRIP CAREFULLY, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. AFTER WE ARRIVED TO OUR DESTINATION I WENT TO AUTOZONE TO CHECK THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID THE ELETRICAL AND CPU MODULES ARE DAMAGED. THAT OF COURSE HAS ME A LITTLE WORRIED. WE HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR A YEAR SO IT COULDNT BE FOR THAT REASON.

WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70MPH, MY SONATA STOPPED ACCELERATING. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE ROAD IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AS MY CAR WAS RAPIDLY DECELERATING. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, AND AFTER LETTING IT SET FOR A FEW MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO START UP AGAIN AND PROCEED WITHOUT TROUBLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN SINCE, BOTH ON A FREEWAY AND ONCE ON A SIDE STREET. I AM ON MY WAY TO MY DEALER TODAY TO CHECK THIS OUT. ALSO, I HAVE CHECKED THE INTERNET, AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE AMONG THESE MODELS.
