FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON MY 2012 SONATA LOSES POWER AT RANDOM CAUSING US TO HAVE TO PULL OVER OR IT POWERS BACK UP AND IT WILL CONTINUE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND IT KEEPS HAPPENING. LIFE THREATENING.
Break lights repeatingly burn out on both sides. Replace it and a few weeks later, need replacing again. It is an ongoing problem and a known defect, but hasn't been recalled yet. This is a safety hazard as you are at risk of being rear ended.
WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY INTERSTATE AT SPEED (APPROX 65MPH) ON 9/26/20, THE ENGINE ABRUPTLY SHUT DOWN. THERE WAS NO WARNING, THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING STRAIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE ONLY HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN THE AREA AND INSPECTED/ DIAGNOSED 9/29/20. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENGINE HAD SEIZED AND MUST BE REPLACED. THE ESTIMATED COST TO REPLACE (WITH A USED ENGINE WITH 40% MORE MILES) WAS 25% HIGHER THAN THE REPLACEMENT VALUE FOR THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER REPRESENTATIVE SAID THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED BY SAFETY RECALL 15V-568 RELATING TO 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA'S WITH THE 2.4L ENGINE. THE RECALL DOES NOT REFERENCE ANY SPECIFIC MODEL AND ONLY DISCUSSES THE FAILURE OF THE ENGINE WHICH IS COMMON ACROSS HYBRID AND NON-HYBRID MODELS. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 78,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE ENGINE FAILURE. ENGINES SHOULD NOT FAIL THIS EARLY, UNLESS THERE IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. WHICH IT SEEMS THERE IS A VERY WELL KNOWN DEFECT TO THIS VERY ENGINE THAT RESULTS IN THIS VERY OUTCOME. EXCEPT FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON THE KNOWN FAILURE WITH THE SAME ENGINE IN A HYBRID MODEL IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL.
STEERING WHEEL NOISE. IN ADDITION, LOUD CLANKING NOISES WHEN TRAVELING OVER BUMPS AND BUMPY ROADS WITH VIBRATIONS COMING TO THE STEERING WHEEL. VERY SIMILAR TO THE DESCRIPTIONS ON THE NHTSA PAGES.
STATIONARY VEHICLE, PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR IS ONE AND REFUSES TO GO OFF.
WE ARE REPLACING BRAKE LIGHTS EVERY OTHER MONTH. THE MODULE THAT HOLDS THE BULB IS MELTING. SEEMS LIKE THIS WOULD BE A FIRE HAZARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.
WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2020 I NOTICED EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE WHEN I PUSH ON THE BRAKE THE BRAKE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THE PANEL FELT VERY SPONGY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FIX THE LIGHT THEY TOLD ME THE BRAKE PEDAL FEEL WAS NORMAL. BUT KIA AND HYUNDAI HAVE A RECALL OUT RIGHT NOW IT DOES NOT COVER MY CAR BUT FROM WHAT I'VE READ OF THE RECALL IT SOUNDS LIKE THAT'S WHAT'S HAPPENING TO MY CAR. THE PEDAL FEELS VERY SPONGY IT ALWAYS FEELS LIKE IT'S GOING DOWN TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN YOU PRESS THE BRAKE
RECALLED ENGINE REPLACED IN LATE 2017 CAR CONTINUES TO HAVE PROBLEMS EVERY SINCE. HAD TO REPLACED WATER PUMP , THERMOSTAT AND 3 RADIATORS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE HEAD GASKET IS BLOWN. HYUNDAI DEALER AND SERVICE REFUSE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE AND I HAVE SPEND OVER $2,000 IN REPAIRS.
I STOPPED AT A LIGHT ON 23 IN CHILLICOTHE OHIO .WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND NOTHING. ALL THE DASH LIGHT CAME ON AND HAD A ODD SMELL.AND HASN'T STARTED SINCE WILL NOT TURN OVER.. CHECKED THE FUSES STARTER ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY. ALL ARE IN WORKING ORDER. HAD TO HAVE IN TOWED TO MY HOUSE IN SOUTH POINT OHIO.
MY CAR IS RANDOMLY SHUTTING ITSELF OFF. IT HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES NOW. AS I AM DRIVING THE WHOLE CAR JUST DIES. I HAVE TO PHYSICALLY TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN IT CRANKS BACK UP.
LOUD CLUNKING NOISE FROM STEERING COLUMN WHEN TURNING RIGHT OR LEFT. ALSO VERY AUDIBLE NOISES FROM FRONT END WHEN HITTING BUMPS. ALSO TRAVELS INTO STEERING WHEEL. STEERING FEELS UNSAFE AND LOOSE LIKE WHEEL IS GOING TO FALL OFF.
AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING IF YOU USE THE TURN SIGNALS OR TRY TO ADJUST YOUR LIGHTS FROM DIM TO BRIGHT AN ELECTRICAL FAULT IN THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH CAUSES ALL OF THE LIGHTS IN THE VEHICLE INSIDE AND OUT TO GO OUT LEAVING YOU DRIVING WITH NO LIGHTS AT ALL. THIS CONDITION HAPPENED TO ME ON A CITY STREET RULE ROAD THE INTERSTATE IT DOESN'T MATTER IT HAPPENS IF THE CAR IS MOVING OR SITTING STILL IT'S JUST AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED
WHILE DRIVING 25 MILES ON WALNUT ST IN RIALTO CA .ALL OF A SUDDEN MY HYBRID HYUNDAI SONATA MADE A GRINDING NOISE AND STOP RESPONDING I AVOID HITTING A CAR INFRONT OF ME AND APPROACHED THE SIDE WALK MESSING UP MY RIGHT FRONT BUMPER, WHEN I FINALLY STOPPED I PUT THE CAR ON PARK AND IT MADE A NASTY GRINDING SOUND. I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR ON D AND IT WOULDN'T MOVE I PUT IT ON R AND NOTHING. IT WAS A VERY SCARRY EXPERIENCE, I WANT TO KNOW IF THERE IS ANYTHING YOU CAN HELP ME WITH IF THERE IS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THATS WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE. FUEL IS LEAKING FROM VEHICLES FUEL RAIL ON LINE GOING TO INJECTORS.UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE DASHBOARD NEAR THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG HOUSING. VIN TOOL SHOWED NO RECALLS ON THE ISSUE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,573.
THERE DEALER REFUSED TO CHANGE MY TRANSMISSION FLUID EVEN IT'S DUO CHANGE TIME I WAS TOLD IF I WANT TO DO IT GO TO ANY MECHANIC SHOP
WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL THERE IS A KNOCKING SOUND. THE DRIVER SEAT BELT DOES NOT LOCK WHEN HITTING BRAKES AND IS LOOSE. THE PASSENGER WINDOW ON ONE SIDE DOES NOT GO DOWN. THE AIRBAG SIGNAL STAYS ON.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND MULTIPLE CRACKS IN MY DASH OCCURRED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. CAR WAS SITTING.PARKED IN DRIVEWAY WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON AND THERE WAS 3 CRACKS IN THE DASH. THE LIGHT HAD NOT BEEN PREVIOUSLY ON.
I HAD A RECALL DONE ON MY HYUNDAI SONATA 2012 FOR THE FUEL PIPE. I TOOK IT IN TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN RICHLAND HILLS ABOUT A YEAR AGO, BEFORE COVID19 I BELIEVE BECAUSE I DON'T RECALL WEARING A MASK. THEY WERE EXTREMELY RUDE TO ME AT THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP SO I LEFT THERE WITHOUT KNOWING IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM OR NOT WITH MY CAR. NOW A FEW MONTHS AGO I RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE AN THEY SAID MY FUEL PIPE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BUT AREN'T HONORING THE RECALL AND ARE SAYING I MUST PAY FOR THE FUEL PIPE MYSELF.
HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING, SHUT OFF DON'T DRIVE!!! LIGHT CAME ON CAR SHUT DOWN WHILE IN REVERSE, IT WAS FINE IN DRIVE! TOOK IT TO THE HYUNDAI IN MESQUITE TX WHERE I'VE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES IN THE PAST BUT HAD TO GO SOMEWHERE CLOSE! THEY COULDN'T FIND A DIAGNOSIS WENT THROUGH ALL THE CODES, SAID IT WASN'T SHUTTING DOWN FOR THEM AND IT WAS AN OIL PUMP AND OIL ASSEMBLY $1,904.49 MINUS THE $150 DIAGNOSTIC TO NOT EVEN TELL ME WHY IT SHUTS DOWN IN REVERSE GIVING A WHOLE OTHER ISSUE WITH THE CAR THAT ISN'T A PART OF THE REASON I TOOK IT IN! NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY A HYUNDAI!
SO MANY ISSUES MY CARS HAD...1 OWNER AND SEVERAL ISSUES SADLY COULD ONLY PICK 3: SEAT BELT WON'T CLICK ON DRIVER SIDE SOMETIMES IT GETS STUCK, HAD THE STEERING BUTTONS FIXED DUE TO GETTING STUCK, FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL HAS BEEN CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THE WHEEL VIBRATING WHEN YOU HIT A BUMP, HYBRID BATTERY WENT BAD BEFORE 50,000, READING ALL THE ENGINE ISSUES AROUND 160, I'M THINKING I NEED TO BACK AWAY FROM HYUNDAI FOREVER!!! MOST RECENT HYBRID WARNING DO NOT DRIVE & AFTER RESEARCHING THERE'S BEEN SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THIS, I'M THINKING WE COULD START A SMALL CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST HYUNDAI!!!! CAR SHUT DOWN AND WOULDN'T GO ANYWHERE

THE AIRBAG SENSOR IS ON AND REFUSES TO GO OFF.
BRAKE LIGHTS ARE OUT AND WHEN I REPLACE THEN THEY BLOW OUT WITHIN TWO DAYS
WHEN I DRIVE ABOVE 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR STARTS SHAKING. I'VE HAD IT IN FOR SERVICE A COUPLE TIMES WITH NO AVAIL. I NEED HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. I PURCHASED NEW TIRES RECENTLY BUT IT STILL SHAKES.
BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM A PRIVATE SELLER. 2 DAYS LATER DRIVING 80MPH ON A 4 LANE FREEWAY THE CAR LOSES ALL POWER AND STOPS. I LIMP CAR OFF BUSY FREEWAY (MIND YOU WITH AN ARIZONA HWY PATROL OFFICER IN THE MEDIAN DIDN'T ASK ME IF I NEEDED HELP). FOUND OUT THAT MY ENGINE BLOCK HAD METAL IN THAT WAS LEFT IN IT WHEN THE ENGINES WERE MADE IN ALABAMA. HYUNDAI KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND TOLD THE NHTSA THAT THEY DIDN'T FEEL IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE? NOT A SAFETY ISSUE TO LOSE POWER AT 80MPH??? [XXX]? TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP JIM CLICK MAZDA/HYUNDAI TUCSON AZ AND THEY HAVE IT BACK TO ME IN 2 DAYS? A NEW ENGINE BLOCK WITH ALL THE OLD PARTS PUT ON IT? [XXX]??? CAR IS MAKING A NOISE WHEN I PICK IT UP THAT IT WASN'T MAKING BEFORE THE ENGINE WENT OUT. I CALL THE DEALERSHIP SAY HEY CAR'S MAKING A FUNNY NOISE WHEN I ACCELERATE KINDA LIKE IT WAS BEFORE THE MOTOR WENT OUT. WHICH BY THE WAY WAS UNDER SAFETY RECALL.SO TODAY I AM DIVING AND LOSE ALL MY AC NO AC IT'S 110 DEGREES OUTSIDE I CALL A FRIEND TO LOOK AT IT HE POPS THE HOOD AND RIGHT AWAY NOTICES 2 BOLTS/BRACKETS THAT HOLD THE AC HIGH PRESSURE LINE TO THE CAR MISSING! WAIT BOLTS ARE MISSING??? YES WHEN THE DEALERSHIP PUT THE CAR BACK TOGETHER THEY FORGOT TO BOLT THE THING DOWN?? I TELL MY SERVICE ADVISOR AT HYUNDAI ABOUT IT AND SHOW HIM WHEN I GET THE CAR THERE. LIKE UMMM HELLO???? WHERE ARE THESE BOLTS. HE DOWNPLAYS IT AND ACTS LIKE I AM STUPID. IT'S THEIR FAULT. SO THEN HE CALLS ME TO TELL ME THE ISSUE IS THE COOLOING FAN AND RESISITOR FOR THE ENGINE. THE WIRES ARE MELTED!!! [XXX] AGAIN?? LIKE ARE U SERIOUS? I FEEL LIKE THEY DID A [XXX] JOB TO BEGIN WITH PUTTING THE NEW ENGINE BLOCK IN AND PROBABLY THE SAME GUY WHO DIDN'T PUT THE BOLTS IN IS MOST LIKELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ISSUE WITH THE COOLING FAN!!!! OIL IS NOT SUFFICIENT. I'M LOSING OIL FAST AND THERE IS NOT AN OIL LEAK. I'M HEARING A RATTLE NOISE.MY RADIO CHANGES MEDIA MODES ON ITS OWN.

THE CONTACT STOPPED AND OPENED THE HOOD WHERE THERE WERE FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THE LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS ALSO AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY BURNED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A POLICE IMPOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 179,000. *AS
MULTIPLE PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED ON MY FRONT END FROM WHAT MECHANICS THOUGHT WERE THE PROBLEM BUT MY WHEEL STILL STICKS/PULL TO THE LEFT WHILE DRIVING EVEN AFTER MULTIPLE FRONT END WORK AND ALIGNMENTS. ALSO, I'VE REPLACED HEAD LIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS, BREAKS AND REVERSE LIGHTS NUMEROUS TIMES BECAUSE SOMETHING KEEPS BLOWING THEM. WHEN I PRESS THE VOLUME BUTTON ON THE STEERING IT CHANGES THE SCREEN ON THE RADIO. I'M ASSUMING IT'S SOMETHING WITH WIRING MALFUNCTIONING. THE CRUISE CONTROL ON THE WHEEL DOESN'T ALWAYS WORK AS WELL
I CURRENTLY HAVE A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA HYBRID WITH AN ACTIVE LOAN. I TOOK MY CAR TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP FROM CARMAX'S REPAIR PAL CERTIFIED SHOPS BECAUSE MY CAR WAS SHAKING AND PRODUCING A RATTLING SOUND. I DROVE MY CAR TO THE CAR REPAIR AND WAS LATER TOLD MY CAR IS NO LONGER STARTING UP AND THEY NEEDED ME TO GET IT TOWED OFF THEIR LOT AT MY EXPENSE. I TOWED THE CAR TO A HYUNDAI REPAIR SHOP. I WAS TOLD THAT MY ENGINE IS DEAD AND I NEED A NEW ONE. THE QUOTE WAS APPROXIMATELY $10,000 TO GET A NEW ENGINE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE ENGINE. MY CAR NOW SITS IN FRONT OF MY HOME (INOPERABLE) WHILE I'M PAYING OFF THE LOAN. I CANNOT AFFORD A NEW CAR. I WAS NOT TOLD ABOUT AN ENGINE RECALL FOR THIS MODEL.
KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION WHEN I ATTEMPT TO TURN THE CAR OFF. MUST DISCONNECT BATTERY TO RELEASE THE KEY.
WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS +95 THE CAR WILL DRIVE FOR 15 MINS AND AN ALARM SOUND WARNING YOU THAT THE "HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING - SAFELY STOP AND DO NOT DRIVE" THE VEHICLE IS NOT RESPONSIVE AND THE THE ENGINE IS MAKING A CRACKING NOISE
MY 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA RECEIVED A REPLACEMENT ENGINE DUE TO A RECALL FOR EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. MY CAR DID NOT HAVE ANY OTHER PROBLEMS, EVERYTHING ELSE WAS RUNNING AS IT SHOULD. AFTER MY ENGINE WAS REPLACED, THE DEALERSHIP DID A TEST DRIVE AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS RUNNING WELL. I DROVE MY CAR HOME EVERYTHING SEEMED OK. I ONLY DROVE THE CAR TO MY LOCAL SUPERMARKET TWICE AND LASTLY, MY SON DROVE IT OUT TO A BEST BUY, WHICH WAS 40 MINUTES AWAY. EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL DURING THE DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY AS WELL AS THE LOCAL STREET UNTIL HE PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT. AS SOON AS HE MADE THE TURN IN, THE CAR STARTED TO REV IN AN EXTREME WAY-TAKING THE RPM NEEDLE TO 6 AND A LITTLE OVER- WITH VERY LITTLE APPLICATION TO THE GAS PEDAL AND VERY LITTLE MOTION FROM THE CAR. HE PARKED THE CAR THEN TURNED IT ON AGAIN, THE ENGINE TURNED ON OK, BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT GO FORWARD OR BACKWARDS. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AFTER 4 DAYS WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS, WHATSOEVER, OF ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION, AND THE SUDDEN STOPPAGE IS VERY DISCONCERTING TO SAY THE LEAST. ARE THERE ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL'S TRANSMISSION, AS THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF DETERIORATION? MY CAR HAS 145,000 MILES ON IT. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI HQ CUSTOMER SERVICE AND A CASE WAS MADE, ONLY TO GET A CALL FROM THE CASE MGR. STATING THE TRANSMISSION IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I UNDERSTAND I WAS GIVEN A REPLACEMENT ENGINE, BUT I FAIL TO UNDERSTAND HOW IT'S EVEN POSSIBLE OR EVEN COINCIDENTAL THAT MY TRANSMISSION WOULD COLLAPSE AFTER A MAJOR REPAIR. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE DIAGNOSTICS HISTORY SHOWS THERE WAS AN INCORRECT RATIO IN GEAR 3.WHY WERE THERE NO WARNINGS OR TELLTALE SIGNS? THIS COULD HAVE TURNED OUT VERY BADLY FOR MY SON HAD IT HAPPENED JUST A MINUTE SOONER WHILE HE WAS ON THE HIGHWAY.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH WHEN THE CAR SAID "HYBRID SYSTEM FAILURE." I PULLED OVER AS I NOTICED THE CAR WOULDN'T SWITCH TO THE GAS ENGINE AS I WENT UP THE HILL. I PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THE HYBRID BATTERY LEVEL WAS GOING DOWN AND NOT SWITCHING TO THE GAS ENGINE. I CALLED FOR A TOW AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. THEY INFORMED US THAT THE ENGINE WAS SHOT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR $6,500 AND THAT ENGINE WOULD HAVE NO WARRANTY ON IT. I ASKED IF IT WAS THE SAME ISSUE AS THE 2013 SONATA THAT WE OWN THAT DID THE SAME BEHAVIOR. THE ANSWER WAS YES IT IS SIMILAR, BUT THE HYBRID IS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL. I FIND IT WEIRD THAT BOTH CARS HAVE THE SAME ENGINE WITH THE SAME ISSUE, BUT THE HYBRIDS WERE NOT RECALLED.
BULBS KEEP BLOWING RADIO COMPLETELY WENT BLACK AN NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW THE ISSUE
MY HYUNDAI SONATA 2012 RECENTLY EXPERIENCED ENGINE SEIZURE ON A 5 LANE HIGHWAY IN NJ GARDEN STATE PARKWAY AT 70 MPH WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHAT SO EVER.CAR WAS CHECKED FOR THIS RECALL YEAR AGO AND SUPPOSEDLY SOFTWARE WAS INSTALLED TO NOTIFY IF ENGINE WAS TO FAIL. THERE WAS NO WARNING! DEALER CONFIRMED THE ENGINE DIED AND IS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. I ALSO HAD MENTIONED CONCERN ABOUT THE NOISE UNDER THE CAR. THEY REPLACED THE ENGINE & SERPENTINE BELT AND TOLD ME TO COME BACK IN 3 DAYS AS IT WAS TOO EARLY TO DO THE INSPECTION. WHEN I GOT THE CAR BACK THE NOISE WAS STILL UNDER THE CAR, THE TIRE LIGHT CAME ON, BACK DOOR LOCK STOPPED WORKING AND AC STOPPED WORKING I CALLED BACK AND THEY TOLD ME $1500 WORTH OF WORK TO PASS INSPECTION. 3 DAYS EARLIER THEY SAID THE CAR WAS GOOD TO PASS. INCLUDING CONTINENTAL TIRES THAT HYUNDAIS HORRIBLE SUSPENSION RUINED AT 16K MILES(TIRE WARRANTY 70K MILES) AND BOTH SWAY BARS AND SWAY BAR LINK. WHICH MEANS I COULD HAVE ROLLED THE CAR AT ANY CURVE.AXLES WERE CHANGED TWICE ON THIS CAR AS THEY TOLD ME " MANUFACTORY FAULTY" AXLES THEY PUT ON AND OTHER SUSPENSION PARTS. TIRES WERE ROTATED AND ALIGNED BY THEM! IF THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH PERSON WORKING ON MY CAR DAMAGED BOTH OF MY FRONT DOORS WHEN LETTING THE CAR OFF THE LIFT.THEN THE DEALER TRIED TO COVER UP THE DAMAGE AND SIGN ME THE CAR BACK! CAR HAS SOME SERIOUS ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH INTERIOR/EXTERIOR. LIGHTS MELTING, BULBS BURNING AND NOW THE CAR DOORS LOCKS. BETTER YET NEW RECALL SAYS IF YOU HAD YOUR ENGINE REPLACED YOU ARE IN A DANGER OF THE FIRE.HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO TRUST THIS "CERTIFIED DEALER" ? + THE OTHER 8 RECALLS AND CLASS ACTIONS ABOUT THIS CAR- HYUNDAI NEEDS TO BE FORCED TO BUY BACK THESE ALL OF THESE CARS. NOT ONLY IS THAT NOT SAFE FOR ME ITS ALSO NOT SAFE FOR OTHER DRIVERS! I'VE ALSO BEEN WITHOUT MY CAR FOR ABOUT A MONTH AT THIS POINT.
AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING IF YOU USE THE TURN SIGNALS ALL LIGHTS GO OFF INSIDE AND OUT. WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE WHILE THERE. THIS IS A HAZARD AND CAN CAUSE A COLLISON AT NIGHT. THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY HYUNDAI. THERE SEEMS TO BE TOO MANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THESE CARS AND IT SHULD BE LOOKED INTO.
It first started when the engine needed to be replaced, I spent thousands trying to get it repaired, soon after they fixed the engine everything started going wrong ( I truly think they put in a faulty or wrong engine @ Hyundai) the car was overheating, I would take it in they would say it’s one thing pay thousands and it wasn’t it, changed the coolant that goes into the cabin, there’s always been a chemical smell since…still overheats, they said maybe it’s the thermostat, spent more money still didn’t fix it, the battery now won’t stay charged(trunk battery) not sure if they hooked it up wrong…the seatbelt hasn’t worked in years, I take it in they say it’s fine, it never clicks, I have to click it in to the passenger seat for safety. They always say it’s fine! I will never ever buy another Hyundai in life due to all of the issues I’ve experienced with mainly Hyundai dealership service mechanics and dealerships, I’m now dealing with a faulty car that could still be a great car if they didn’t mess it up, I thought I was doing right by always only taking my car to Hyundai and goodness I was wrong! There are no “recalls” currently on my car but honestly, did they even do the recalls correctly?! I disagree! They have literally lied, drained my wallet and disappointed me all while making my car worse, it’s like dr’s take these meds that might fix the issue but it’s going to mess up something else, it’s a guessing game all while killing you or in this case my car!!! I don’t know dates, all I know is Hyundai has all the records! Oh and the last straw was them driving my car without my permission mint you, they took it to a totally different shop without my knowledge & had someone else repair the frame which I was unaware of & drive it with ZERO oil in my car which now my car has been sitting for the most part since they repaired my car(or lack there of) because they broke my car! yes I turned it in when it happened, I just never heard anything from anyone now I’m carless
Seat belt doesn’t latch properly. It’s been happening for a while now. I have to fidget with the metal clip into the slot several times, and sometimes I just can’t wear it at all because it doesn’t latch.
I PURCHASED A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA IN JANUARY 2012. IN 2014, A RECALL OF THE CAR WAS ISSUED FOR A SHIFT CABLE PROBLEM WHERE THE CABLE WOULD DETACH FROM THE SHIFTER. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER IN SEPTEMBER 2014 TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIR COMPLETED. IN 2018, I GAVE THE CAR TO MY DAUGHTER SO MY GRANDSON COULD PARTICIPATE IN HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES, SPORTS AND ATTEND CLASSES AT THE COMMUNITY COLLEGE. AFTER HIS GRADUATION FROM HIGH SCHOOL, HE IS ATTENDING THE UNIV. OF MARYLAND IN COLLEGE PARK , MD, AS A RESIDENT STUDENT AND ONLY USES THE CAR ON WEEKENDS WHEN HE COMES HOME AND DURING BREAKS FROM COLLEGE SEMESTERS. THE REASON FOR THIS COMPLAINT OCCURRED IN LATE JUNE 2020 AND IS THE EXACT FAILURE MECHANISM THAT CAUSED THE 2014 RECALL. APPARENTLY THE RECALL FIX WAS EITHER NOT A PERMANENT SOLUTION OR WAS NOT DONE CORRECTLY. THE RESULT IS MY DAUGHTER HAD TO PAY $974.00 TO FIX SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF IN 2014. THE PROBLEM WAS A RESULT EITHER A POOR ORIGINAL DESIGN OR THE RECALL FIX WAS ONLY TEMPORARY. I CALLED HYUNDAI CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CAR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER WAS A SECONDARY OWNER.
CAR HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING CLUNKING NOISE SINCE 2018. VEHICLE WOULD STALL ALL OF A SUDDEN. DEALERSHIP CHECKED IT OUT AND THEY FAILED TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG. ON 6/23 I WAS ON THE FAST LANE OF THE FREEWAY AND CAR STALLED AND ENGINE LIGHT WAS CONTINUOUSLY BLINKING ON AND OFF. CYCLIC KNOCKING NOISE, RPM WOULD NOT ELEVATE FROM 1 CAR JUST STALLED WHILE IN MOTION I ALMOST GOT HIT BY OTHER VEHICLES. WAS ABLE TO PULL CAR TO THE SIDE. WHILE ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUED BLINKING. GOING UP HILL IT LOST POWER AS WELL. I WAS DRIVING VEHICLE WITH MY GRANDKIDS IN THE BACK SEAT. I FEARED FOR ALL OF OUR LIVES. SENDING PICTURES AND I HAVE A VIDEO AS WELL. *TR

ADDITIONAL EFFORT WAS NEEDED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED OUT OF PARK TO DRIVE WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V759000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO PERFORM A VIN SEARCH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 137,000.
MY CAR BROKE DOWN ON A BUSY HIGHWAY DURING A LUNCH RUSH DUE TO AN ENGINE ROD KNOCKING IN THE ENGINE. IT WAS A TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE AND EVEN SITTING STILL ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I WAS SCARED MY CAR WOULD BE HIT BY ANY OF THE 70-80MPH CARS EXITING THE RAMP BEHIND ME. I TRIED JOINING THE CLASS ACTION SUIT BUT FOR SOME REASON, EVEN THOUGH IT'S THE SAME ENGINE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, HYBRIDS AREN'T A PART OF THE SUIT.

THIS WEEK MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A FUEL LINE CRACK WHERE THE LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMP CONNECTS TO THE DIRECT INJECTION FUEL PUMP. THE SMELL OF GAS WAS EVIDENT WITHIN THE CABIN WHILE BOTH STATIONARY AND IN MOTION, AND I COULD SEE VAPOR RISING FROM THE PROXIMAL PORTION OF THE HOOD WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE GAS LEAK COULD BE VISUALIZED UPON STARTING THE CAR. UPON OPENING THE HOOD, I NOTED THE GAS LEAK AROUND THE CRACKED PLASTIC CONNECTION. THE FUEL LINE WAS THE ORIGINAL GENUINE HYUNDAI PART. THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP REPLACED IT WITH A SUPERIOR (NON-PLASTIC) FUEL LINE. THE LACK OF QUALITY IN THE ORIGINAL FUEL LINE IS CONCERNING BECAUSE IT PLACED MY FAMILY DIRECTLY AT RISK TO EXPERIENCE A DANGEROUS AND POSSIBLY FATAL FIRE. IT APPEARS THAT THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP WAS ALSO AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THE ORIGINAL LINE WHICH IS WHY THEY REPLACED IT WITH A DIFFERENT PART. HOWEVER, THERE IS NO CURRENT RECALL CAMPAIGN FOR THIS UNSAFE SCENARIO. *TR
I DROVE MY CAR FROM CHICAGO TO ATLANTA AND HAD NO LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD. I TOOK THE CAR TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY REPORTED NO LEAKS AND THE CAR WAS GOOD TO GO. NOT EVEN 30 MINS AFTER MY CAR OIL LIGHT CAME ON, STARTED MAKING NOISES, AND STARTED SMOKING. MY BOYFRIEND PULLED OVER TO LOOK UNDER HOOD AND SEEN OIL IN SOME AREAS AND ON THE GROUND. WE GOT IT TOWED TO TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS AND BACK TO EXPRESS OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD IT'S A HOLE AT THE BOTTOM OF MY CAR. *TR
Steering wheel couplet is broken causing the steering wheel to make a clanking noise when driving or going over little bumps on the road. It also makes the steering wheel and I believe tires make clanking noise when making a turn or pulling out of a driveway.
STARTED HEARING A KNOCKING SOUND IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT, WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY, SLOWED CAR DOWN TO 40 M.P.H., THAT'S WHEN THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND WOULDN'T RESTARTED, WAS ABLE TO STEER AND COAST CAR OUT OF TRAFFIC. LOOKED UP THAT THERE WAS AN OLD RECALL CLAIM FOR THE VERY SOUND, BUT IT WAS CLOSED BEFORE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2017. *TR

I HAVE PURCHASED MY CAR IN 2014. SINCE I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE GOING OUT MORE THAN THE NORM (FOR OTHER VEHICLES). I HAVE RECEIVED COUNTLESS OF TICKETS OF THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT THE 2012-2014 HYUNDAI SONATA OWNERS HAVE YET TO GET RESOLVED/ADDRESSED BY HYUNDAI. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OF MY POLICE FRIENDS AND OTHER CURRENT/FORMER HYUNDAI SONATA OWNERS TO TELL ME THAT THEY HAVE PULLED MANY PEOPLE OVER WITH THE SAME YEAR/MAKE/MODEL FOR BRAKE LIGHTS. THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE IS HAZARDOUS FOR NOT ONLY ME AND MY CHILD, BUT ANY OTHER INDIVIDUALS WHO SHARE THE ROAD WITH ME. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT WAS THE LAST AND FINAL STRAW FOR ME. I WAS DRIVING WHEN ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL INFORMED ME THAT MY BRAKE LIGHT WAS OUT YET AGAIN. I WENT TO THE AUTOZONE TO ATTEMPT TO CHANGE MY LIGHT BULB JUST TO DISCOVER THAT THE ELECTRICAL MECHANISM THAT HOLDS THE BULB IN PLACE IS BROKEN. IT APPEARED THAT THE LIGHT BULB WENT THROUGH A MILD BURST OF FLAMES. TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN, ESPECIALLY AS A MOTHER, ON THE SAME SIDE AS MY CHILD SITS IS UNACCEPTABLE! I'M SURE THAT IF YOU CONDUCT YOUR OWN RESEARCH WITH POLICE ABOUT VEHICLES BEING PULLED OVER, YOU WILL SURELY SEE THAT THE NUMBER ONE REASON WAS BECAUSE OF A BROKEN BRAKE LIGHT.
