THERE WERE RECENT RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE TO FIX FAULTY SENSOR AND FRONT AIR BAGS. RECENTLY I SEE THE AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHT ON IN THE DASHBOARD AND ALSO AFTER THE AIRBAG WAS REPLACED, I COULD HEAR A CLUCK SOUND IN MY STEERING WHILE DRIVING.
AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE AND THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR IDLING. AS FAR AS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, SOMETIMES IT WILL GO OFF, I HAVE TO STOP MY CAR, PULL THE FUSE PANEL AND UNPLUG SOMETHING, WAIT A FEW MINUTES THEN PUSH IT BACK IN AND THEN MY RADIO, LIGHTS, ETC WORK AGAIN. THE ELECTRICAL HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL YEARS OFF AND ON. THE AIRBAG LIGHT STAYING ON IS IN IT'S SECOND WEEK. I JUST REPLACED MY BATTERY AND THE LIGHT IS STILL ON.
DRIVING AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS, WILL DOWN SHIFT AND DRASTICALLY LOSE SPEED WHILE IN BLUE MODE. NO WARNING LIGHTS OF ANY KIND. NO APPARENT ISSUE AT LOWER SPEEDS. ENGINE DOES NOT REV UP HIGH BECAUSE OF REV LIMITS. DROPS FROM 6 GEAR DOWN TO 4 GEAR QUICKLY LOOSING SPEED. LEADING TO IMPEDANCE OF TRAFFIC FLOW. A COUPLE OF TIME THIS HAPPENED WHEN MERGING ON TO INTERSTATE. HAD TO RIDE ON SIDE TO NEXT EXIT. I HAVE LEARNED IF I GO INTO SPORT SHIFT MODE I DO NOT EXPERIENCE THIS ISSUE. I HAVE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP, BUT UNABLE TO REPEAT ISSUE ON TEST DRIVE. THEY DID A DIAGNOSIS AND CLEARED SOME HISTORY CODES BUT IT DID NOT HELP. AGAIN THIS HAPPENS UNEXPECTEDLY.
OUR 2012 SONATA IS NOW ON ITS 3RD ENGINE (1 ORIGINAL AND 2 ADD'L). THESE WERE SUBJECT TO RECALL. WENT FOR MY ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND MY MECHANIC POINTED OUT THAT THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN OLD OIL AND ON DRAIN PLUG. ARE WE LOOKING AT ANOTHER NEW ENGINE TO BE INSTALLED. BOUGHT IT NEW AS A COMMUTER CAR BECAUSE OF THE WARRANTY, BUT IT HAS SPENT MORE TIME IN SHOP THAN ME DRIVING IT.
WHEN DRIVING IN HUNTSVILLE, AL ON CITY STREETS AND THE HIGHWAY WHEN I'M TURNING MY STEERING WHEEL IT MAKES A CLICKING NOISE AND THE COLUMN APPEARS LOOSE. THE BRAKES ARE STICKING AND REQUIRES ME TO PUSH DOWN HARD TO STOP MY VEHICLE. I HAVE REPLACED THE FRONT LIGHTS AND BACK ENDS LIGHTS NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY CONTINUE TO GO OUT FREQUENTLY. I PURCHASED NEW TIRES IN JUNE 2019 FROM BENTLEY HYUNDAI IN HUNTSVILLE, AL AND WHILE DRIVING THE TIRE TUBE POPPED AND DEFLATED. THERE WERE NO NAILS IN THE TIRE. THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE TUBE. I ALMOST CRASHED.
MY RADIO JUST STOP WORKING SUDDENLY. THEN FEW DAYS AFTER THE CAR WONT START.
STEERING WHERE MAKES LOUD CLICKING NOISE WHEN TURNED LEFT AND RIGHT. ALSO, WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS, SOUNDS LIKE THE ENTIRE UNDERNEATH IS ABOUT TO FALL OUT. MY MECHANIC SAYS IT IS THE COUPLER AND HE BELIEVES THERE IS A RECALL ON IT. HOWEVER, WHEN I LOOK IT UP, SAYS THAT THE 2011 AND 2013 WERE RECALLED, BUT NOT THE 2012. THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED ON THIS YEAR'S MODEL. ALSO, THE DEALERSHIP IS SAYING THAT IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WHEN DRIVING IT; I WOULD LIKE TO GET IT REPAIRED, BUT DO NOT FEEL THAT I SHOULD BE PAYING FOR SOMETHING THAT HYUNDAI KNOWS IS A DEFECT.
CARS BRAKE LIGHTS ARE CONTINUOUSLY LIT EVEN WHEN ENGINE AND DRIVER HAS TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND LEFT. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THAT IS A BIG PROBLEM WITH THE SONATAS. THEY CALLED THE PROBLEM TSB/STOP LAMP SWITCH. THIS VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM EITHER STATIONARY, MOVING OR ENGINE & KEY TURNED OFF. IT ALSO SHOWS SIGNS OF ENGINE HESITATION WHEN FIRST MOVING.
VEHICLE SHIFTED FUNNY, THEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT. SEE SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER 14-AT-010. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN AND ONGOING PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD BY HYUNDAI THAT THERE IS CURRENTLY NO RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH AND ENTERING THE FREEWAY RAMP, THE VEHICLE SEIZED WITH ALL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH HIS HOOD. NO FLAMES WERE NOTICED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY AAA TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH VAPOR LOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BUT WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER INVER GROVE HYUNDAI (1290 50TH ST E, INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MN 55077 (888) 706-5928) BUT NO DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT AN INVESTIGATION WOULD TAKE PLACE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.
WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL RIGHT OR LEFT THERE IS A CLICKING NOISE. WHEN GOING OVER EVEN A SMALL BUMP THERE IS A CLICKING NOISE THE CAR ALSO VEERS SLIGHTLY. THIS CAN NOT BE SAFE AND HYUNDAI SHOULD REALLY LOOK INTO THIS AND FIX IT WITH A RECALL.
2012 HYUNDAI SONATA HYBRID HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING ROUGH TRANSMISSION OPERATION AFTER SOFTWARE UPDATE SERVICE WAS COMPLETED FOR THE CAR AT A DEALERSHIP. THE SOFTWARE UPDATE TO THE CAR COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS KNOW AS "SERVICE CAMPAIGN 953" (KNOCK SENSOR DETECTION SYSTEM - ENGINE MONITORING TECHNOLOGY). EVER SINCE THE CAR COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS UPDATED, THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN OPERATING VERY ROUGH. THE CAR STARTED JERKING WHEN IN MOTION AND THE ENGINE WOULD RACE WHEN I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR. ALSO, THE SERVICE LIGHT ON DASHBOARD ILLUMINATES. WHEN L CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND REPORTED THE TRANSMISSION HESITATION PROBLEM, THEY TRIED TO FIX THE ISSUE BY RUNNING DIAGNOSTIC TESTS AND REPLACING THE ESC RELAY. ALL DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. LATER, L WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT ABOUT IT, UNLESS AM READY TO TAKE CARE OF THE EXPENSES (DIAGNOSIS AND MECHANICAL), BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO MILEAGE. I TOLD THEM THE CAR TRANSMISSION WAS OPERATING SMOOTHLY UNTIL AFTER THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS APPLIED TO THE CAR COMPUTER SYSTEM. AS OF RIGHT NOW, I BELIEVE THE SOFTWARE SERVICE TO THE CAR HAS CAUSED THIS CHANGES IN THE TRANSMISSION. I ALSO THINK, THE DEALERSHIP SHOULD HAVE WORKED ON FIXING THE ISSUES ON MY CAR REGARDING THE SOFTWARE SERVICE UPDATE. I WANT TO THIS ISSUE TO BE CRITICALLY LOOKED INTO, SINCE THERE MAY BE MANY OUT THERE WITH HYUNDAI SONATA TRANSMISSION PREDICAMENT.
BRAKE LIGHTS ARE STUCK ON ALL THE TIME. PULLING UP FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TURNS THE BRAKE LIGHT OFF, BUT IT TURNS BACK ON AS SOON AS I STOP PULLING UP ON IT.
MY COLLEGE AGE DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR WHEN IT STARTED KNOCKING. THEN A WARNING CAME UP THAT SAID TO PARK THE CAR IMMEDIATELY, HYBRID SYSTEM FAILURE. AFTER HAVING HER CAR TOWED, IT TURNS OUT THE ENGINE SEIZED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IT'S A 2.4 LITER ENGINE VERY SIMILAR TO THE RECALL CURRENTLY GOING ON WITH THE THETA II ENGINES.
CAR BRAKE LIGHT KEEP OVERHEATING CAUSING THE BRAKE LIGHT SOCKETS TO BURN OUT
I HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A CLOCK SPRING RECALL. I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED BY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS CAUSED BY THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILURE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A KNOW PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE/MODEL/YR VEHICLE.
MY 2012 HYBRID SONATA, 104,000 MILES, SUDDENLY STARTED JERKING AND NEARLY STALLING ONE RECENT MORNING ON A DRIVE FROM HOME ON A DIVIDED ROAD. IT BARELY MOVED FORWARD, BADLY JERKING, MESSAGE ON THE SCREEN WAS : HYBRID BATTERY LOW. PULL UP SAFELY AN PLACE THE CAR IN PARK". SO AFTER 1/2 MILE, I RETURNED HOME. BECAUSE OF LOW SPEED ON A DIVIDED ROAD, THERE WAS A SERIOUS CONCERN OF BEING HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. I HAD THE CAR TOWED NEXT MORNING TO THE HYUNDAI DEALER. THEY REPORTED 'NOTHING WRONG FOUND' AND RETURNED THE CAR WHICH IS RUNNING FINE, THOUGH JERKING TRANSMISSION AT LOW SPEED. I AM WONDERING IF THIS HAPPENED AWAY FROM HOME, WHAT SHALL I DO. I NEED ASSURANCE THAT THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. HOW DO WE GET THAT ASSURANCE ?
THE DASH BOARD BROKEN IN SEVERALLPARTS
I HAVE NOW HAD TWO MAJOR ISSUES WITH MY HYBRID. THE FIRST WAS 5 MONTHS AGO. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON THE INTERSTATE, WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN HE LOST POWER AND THE ENGEN STARTED SMOKING AND MAKE HORRIBLE NOISES. WE HAD A ROD THROWN THROUGH THE ENGINE AND HAD TO REPLACE IT ($3200). THEN ON FRIDAY MORNING I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN I LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND THE HYBRID WARNING SYSTEM STARTED GOING OFF. I HAD MY MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND HE TOLD ME I WILL NEED TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION, HE ALSO SAID THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM WITH THE HYUNDAI SONATA HYBRIDS. IT IS ABOUT A $4000 REPLACEMENT. PLEASE HELP THOSE OF US THAT PUT OUR TRUST IN THIS VEHICLE AND ARE NOW PAYING FOR IT.
MAKES AN UNKNOWN CLICKING NOISE WHEN I TWIST THE WHEEL
IN JULY 2019 I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, ALTHOUGH THERE IS NOBODY IN THE CAR AT THAT TIME. FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS THE BRAKE LIGHT WERE TUNING ON EVEN WHEN I WAS NOT PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. IN THE SAME TIME THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL STARTED TO TAKE OVER AND IT REFUSED TO ACCELERATE WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. THE ONLY WAY I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT WORK WAS TO DEPRESS THE GAS PEDAL AND THEN PRESS IT AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE MECHANIC BECAUSE IT WAS BEHAVING VERY STRANGE. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE PROBLEM IS A RUBBER STOPPER THAT KEPT THE BREAK PEDAL IN PLACE. WHEN IT IS WORN, IT BEHAVES AS IF SOMEBODY TRIED TO HIT THE BREAK. AFTER THE PROBLEM WAS RESOLVED I DISCOVERED THAT THERE IS RECALL 136 THE ACCURATELY DESCRIBES MY PROBLEM FOR MY CAR MODEL. I CONTACTED HYUNDAI ABOUT A POSSIBLE RECALL BUT I GOT NO RESPONSE.
DASHBOARD WAS SLOWLY CRACKING TOLD DEALERSHIP AND SAID "WHAT DO YOU EXPECT THE CAR IS OLD" IT IS A 2012 SONATA. NOW THE DASHBOARD IS COMPROMISING THE AIRBAGS WHICH WILL SOMEDAY EXPLODE !!!!

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE GURLEY LEEP SUBARU (5302 GRAPE RD, MISHAWAKA, IN 46545) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FUEL LINE WAS LEAKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V934000 (ENGINE, FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 170,000.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ABC HYUNDAI (6825 REDWOOD ST, LAS VEGAS, NV 89118, (702) 475-8698) AND WAS INFORMED THAT SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,729.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE, ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING, OIL, AND LOW BATTERY WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RE-ENTER THE HIGHWAY; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE LOST MOTIVE POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONNECTING ROD BEARING IN THE ENGINE SHOWED STRESS FRACTURES. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HYUNDAI OF ASHEVILLE (LOCATED AT 860 TUNNEL RD, ASHEVILLE, NC 28805, (828) 298-4911). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V568000 (ENGINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000. PIIR=Y.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION DRIVING DOWN WICKENBURG HIGHWAY AND A LOUD POP FROM THE ENGINE AND SMOKE. WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND OPENED HOOD AND ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. THE CAR WENT UP IN FLAMES.
VEHICLE CUTS OFF COMPLETLY WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AFTER HARD ACCELERATION WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS AND POSSIBLY LIFE THREATENING. WAS PULLING ONTO HIGHWAY IN FRONT OF 2 LANES OF CARS GOING 60 MPH OR HIGHER AND MY CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF.
THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM I SEE IN THESE CARS. THE TAILLIGHTS MELT AND MELT THE HOUSING CAUSING A FIRE HAZARD AND COLLISION HAZARD DUE TO NO BRAKE LIGHTS
ENGINE FAILURE: I OWN A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. ON JULY 2, 2019, I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE FAR LEFT LANE, DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES AN HOUR WHEN SUDDENLY THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE. IT THEN STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY OCCURRENCE ESPECIALLY TO HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY. BUT FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY CROSS OVER, SAFELY GET OFF AT THE NEAREST EXIT, AND PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. SEVERAL WARNING INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE FLASHING ON THE CAR (INCLUDING THE ENGINE LIGHT) AND I DETECTED A SLIGHT BURNING ODOR (BUT NO FIRE). I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE BUT IT STALLED AGAIN AND EVENTUALLY WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED A COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WASN'T REPAIRED BUT TOWED TO THE CLOSEST OFFICIAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP (256 NORTH FRANKLIN ST, HEMPSTEAD, NY) FOR ASSISTANCE. THE FOLLOWING RECALLS ARE ASSOCIATED WITH MY VEHICLE: RECALL# 17V226000 (ENGINE), AND #15V568000 (ENGINE). AT THE TIME OF OCCURRENCE THE VEHICLE HAD OIL IN THE TANK AND HAD APPROXIMATELY 88,000 MILES ON IT WHICH SHOULD NOT HAVE AFFECTED THE ENGINE AT ALL. I SINCERELY HOPE THAT BY REPORTING THIS INCIDENT, IT WILL ASSIST THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN REPAIRING OR REPLACING THE ENGINE IN MY VEHICLE AS STATED IN THE RECALL AND THEREBY PREVENTING THIS FROM EVER HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS INCIDENT AND WOULDN'T WANT TO EVER SUBJECT MYSELF OR MY FAMILY (WHO ALSO RIDE IN THIS VEHICLE) TO A TERRIBLE INCIDENT SUCH AS THIS OR WORSE. *TR
I OWN A 2012 HYUNDIA SONATA SE WITH 136,000 MILES. THIS CAR HAS A LONG LIST OF ISSUES FROM PURCHASE DATE OF 2011 TO RIGHT NOW. THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN JERKING, STALLING AND NOT HAVING FULL POWER INTERMITTIENTLY AS OF THE THREE YEARS BUT THIS SURPASSES IT ALL. JULY 2, 2019. I WAS LEAVING FROM A PARKING LOT IN REVERSE AND HEARD A LOUD BOOM NOISE, I THOUGHT A COLLISION OCCURED. I LOOKED ALL AROUND AND NOTHING WAS THERE. SO, I PLACE THE GEAR INTO DRIVE.....BOOM AGAIN. MY ENTIRE BODY SHOOK AND THE CAR PROCEED TO JERK AND HESISTATE THROUGH THE PARKING LOT. NERVOUSLY, I HAD TO GET ON TO THE DANGEROUS INTERSTATE 35 SOUTH AND THE CAR STRUGGLED TO GET THE OPTIMAL ENTRANCE SPEED ONTO THE FREEWAY. IT JERKED MORE AND MORE WHILE ON THERE AND IMMEDIATELY EXITED AT THE FIRST EXIT. THE RPM DIAL WAS EXTREMELY HIGHER THAN NORMAL. I HAD TO TAKE SIDE ROADS TO AVOID BEING HIT OR HITTING SOMEONE TO MY HOUSE. I HAVE BEEN SLIGHTLY TERRIFIED DRIVING THIS CAR BEFORE WITH THE STOP AND GO JERKING COMBINED WITH RANDOMLY NOT STARTING, BUT NOW I'M BEYOND THAT NOW. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS SEVERAL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THERE WAS NO FIRE; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DETECTED A BURNING ODOR. THE CONTACT RECEIVED TWO RECALL NOTICES FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 17V617000 (SEAT BELTS) AND 18V137000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. BAYTOWN HYUNDAI (4343 EAST FWY, BAYTOWN, TX 77521, (281) 839-1020) WAS CONTACTED AND REFERENCED THE TWO ACTIVE RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

LAST NIGHT AFTER PARKING, MY BREAK LIGHTS REMAINED LIT. MY FATHER AND I BOTH CHECKED EITHER ANYTHING INSIDE WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND THE EMERGENCY BREAK WAS NOT ENGAGED. I DROVE ABOUT 20 MILES TO WORK THE NEXT MORNING (LIGHTS STILL ON). PARKED AT WORK, LIGHTS STAYED ON. I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE AROUND 50 MPH. CAR BRAKED/DECELERATED INSTEAD OF ACCELERATING. I EXITED HIGHWAY IMMEDIATELY AND PULLED INTO A NEIGHBORHOOD. I AM ABLE TO PULL THE LEVER TO CHANGE INTO R/N/D WITHOUT PRESSING THE BRAKE DOWN (YOU SHOULD HAVE TO PRESS BREAK FIRST BEFORE SWITCHING). I KNOW THIS WAS A RECALL ISSUE FOR ELANTRAS AND SONATAS AT SOME POINT, BUT I DON'T BELIEVE IT INCLUDED MY CARS YEAR. THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY RECALL THINGS, IT SEEMS MAYBE HYUNDAI JUST MAKES FAULTY PRODUCTS. 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. 78,000 MILES. TRACTION LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING THIS AM, BUT PERHAPS UNRELATED AS IT WAS FOGGY AND SO MAYBE SLIPPERY?
RED AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT IS ON SINCE 6/27. IT TURNED ON WHEN THE CAR WAS STARTED AFTER BEING PARKED IN MY GARAGE FOR ABOUT 4 WEEKS WHILE I WAS AWAY ON VACATION.
FOR THE THIRD TIME NOW I WAS PULLED OVER ON THE FREEWAY FOR HAVING A TAIL LIGHT OUT ON MY 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I REPLACE THE BULBS THEY JUST KEEP BLOWING. I HAVEN'T RECEIVED A TICKET YET FROM ANY OF THESE OCCURRENCES, THANK GOD, BUT I'M SURE EVENTUALLY... I AM STARTING TO FEAR I AM GOING TO BE SOMEWHERE AT NIGHT AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO HIT ME. ON JUNE 22TH, 2019 I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN MY 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA GLS AND I HEARD A KNOCKING SOUND UNDER MY HOOD AND MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, SO I PULLED OVER TO BE SAFE. I CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE BUT THE TIME OF ARRIVAL WAS TWO PLUS HOURS. SINCE I WAS WITHIN A HALF MILE OF MY HOME I CONTINUED ON. MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH BENTLEY HYUNDAI IN HUNTSVILLE, AL FOR JUNE 24TH, 2019. MY CAR SAT FOR 2 DAYS BECAUSE IT WAS THE WEEKEND AND BENTLEY HYUNDAI SERVICE WAS CLOSED. THE MORNING OF JUNE 24TH, 2019 MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START SO I HAD IT TOWED TO BENTLEY HYUNDAI. I ASK CHRIS ERICKSON SERVICE ADVISOR WAS THERE ANY SERVICE CAMPAIGNS OR RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE SINCE I HAD MANY OTHERS FOR MY HYUNDAI SONATA GLS RECENTLY. AFTER ABOUT THIRTY MINUTES HE CAME BACK AND SAID NO WHICH WAS NOT TRUE. HERE IS THE PROOF: HYUNDAI ASSURANCE CAR CARE WEBSITE IT STATES; SERVICE CAMPAIGN T3G DEALER BEST PRACTICE LAUNCH FEBRUARY 15TH, 2019 FOR SONATA/SANTE FE SPORT/ TUCSON ENGINE DTC P1326 WIRING INSPECTION/INSTALLATION AND ENGINE REPLACEMENT (TSB # 19-01-006H SUPERCEDES TSB # 18-01-032-2). IT SPECIFICALLY STATES AFFECTED VEHICLES AFFECTED 2011-2014 MY SONATA (YF) VEHICLES WITH 2.0L TURBO AND 2.4 ENGINES THAT MAY EXPERIENCE THE CHECK LIGHT ENGINE WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED WITH DTC P1326. ACCORDING TO BENTLEY HYUNDAI SERVICE DEPARTMENT IT WAS A SWITCH ISSUES WHICH CAUSED THE PROBLEM. I PAID $572.36 FOR REPAIRS. ON 11/10/2019 I EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME ISSUE KNOCKING UNDER THE HOOD AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON CONTINOUS BLINKING. I WAS ALMOST HIT BY AN 18 WHEELER BECAUSE MY VEHICLE DECREASED IN SPEED DRASTICALLY, PULL TO THE SHOULDER DROVE VERY SLOW TO ADVANCE AUTO TWO MINUTES AWAY. THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC CODE WAS P1326. I WAITED FIVE HOURS FOR A TOW FROM NASHVILLE, TN TO BENTLEY HYUNDAI IN HUNTSVILLE, AL WHICH COST ME $475. NOW HYUNDAI IS ASKING ME FOR $6785.82 FOR AN ENTIRE NEW ENGINE.
THE CAR WAS WORKING FINE. STARTED UP, ACCELERATED UP A HILL AND THE ENGINE DIED. THE MECHANIC SAID IT SEIZED THE ENGINE DESPITE PLENTY OF OIL
WHILE DRIVING FROM MY JOB MY CAR CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF ROAD WHILE I WAS DRIVING. HAD TO PUSH CAR INTO PARKINGLOT. IT STILL WILL NOT CRANK UP. RECEIVED A RECALL LAST YEAR IN MAIL. WENT TO DEALERSHIP THEY FOUND NOTHING BUT NOW ITS HAPPENING.
VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND WITHOUT WARNING OR ANY COLLISION CAUGHT ON FIRE.
WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT ON BUSY STREET APPROACHING HIGHWAY, CAR SHOOK, ALL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, THEN DIMMED AS CAR CAME TO A STOP AND DIED IN THE CENTER OF THE ROAD. IT COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. THIS HAPPENED IN SECONDS, NOT AFFORDING DRIVER ENOUGH TIME TO MOVE TOWARD SHOULDER. AS HYUNDAI EXPLAINED, THE ENGINE FAILED AND, IN SO DOING, SENT ELECTRIC SURGE THAT ALSO "FRIED" THE STARTER. DEALER INDICATED THERE WERE PHOTOS OF ENGINE AFTER INCIDENT. LOCAL MECHANIC SAID THAT AFTER REMOVING THE STARTER, VISUAL INSPECTION ALLOWED HIM TO DETERMINE A NEW ENGINE WAS NEEDED. THIS IS CONSISTENT WITH HYUNDAI'S EXPLANATION. THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR PRIOR. TWO PRIOR ENGINE-RELATED SAFETY RECALLS (ISSUED IN RESPONSE TO THIS PROBLEM) WERE PERFORMED ON THIS VEHICLE, AND NO SAFETY PROBLEMS WERE DETECTED. HYUNDAI ADVISED THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR SONATAS, AND THEY REMAIN UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHEN/WHERE THIS WILL HAPPEN TO ANY SONATA. A LOCAL DEALER HAD SEVERAL ON LOT WITH SAME ISSUE. ENGINE AND STARTER NEED TO BE REPLACED, AND IT REMAINS UNDETERMINED IF ANY OTHER COMPONENTS WERE IMPACTED.

WHO DIAGNOSED THAT BOTH BRAKE LIGHTS ASSEMBLY AND WIRE HARNESS KIT WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
WE HAD ENGINE RECALL FOR LAST 2 YEARS. HAD ALL RECALLS TAKEN CARE OF INCLUDING THE DEALER LISTENING TO ENGINE & 2 WEEKS AGO INSTALLING A SENSOR. THIS SENSOR SUPPOSED TO IF NEEDED SET OFF CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS & REDUCE POWER TO 50% SO YOU CAN SAFELY GET TO A DEALER. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON & SHE LOST ALL POWER AND CAR STALLED IN MIDDLE OF A MERGE LANE. NO WARNING OR REDUCTION IN POWER, STALLED WHERE IT STOPPED. I CAME & PARKED BEHIND HER WITH MY 2017 TUSCON WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK. THIS SENSOR RECALL DID NOT WORK FOR US & PUT MY DAUGHTER IN REAL DANGER & GAVE ME A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY IN THIS RECALL. I WANT NOTHING BUT FOR NO ONE TO GET HURT. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE, ITS NOT HELPING ITS GOING TO MAKE IT WORSE. WAITING FOR NEW ENGINE, DEALER SAYS ON BACK ORDER
MY CAR'S CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP FOR DIAGNOSING. THE CODE P1326 CAME UP AND NOBODY CAN FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. MY CAR DOESN'T ACCELERATE PROPERLY AND TAKE A MINUTE TO SHIFT GEARS AND DRIVE PROPERLY. THERE HAS BEEN OPEN COMMUNICATION ON THE ISSUE BY OTHER PEOPLE.
MY SON WAS USING MY CAR AND NOTICED THAT IT WAS STARTING WITHOUT APPLYING THE BRAKE. I HAVE ALWAYS PRESSED THE BRAKE BEFORE PUSHING THE START BUTTON, OTHERWISE, THE CARE WOULD NOT START. AFTER HAVING THIS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION, I TRIED IT AND IT DID THE SAME THING....STARTED WITHOUT APPLYING THE BRAKE.
THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL NUMBER 169 ON MY VEHICLE AFFECTING THE SEATBELT PRETENSIONER. I HAD IT CHECKED APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AGO AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS NOT DEFECTIVE. MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON SINCE THAT TIME. NOW I TOOK MY CAR TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME MY SEATBELT PRETENSIONER IS FAULTY. THEY ARE CHARGING ME NEARLY $800 TO FIX IT. THEY ARE STATING SINCE THE RECALL WAS "CLEARED" THEY ARE UNABLE TO RE-OPEN IT. THIS IS DISHONEST. THEY KNOW THAT THE PART IS DEFECTIVE AND ARE REFUSING TO FIX IT. JUST BECAUSE IT HADN'T BROKEN WHEN I HAD IT CHECKED, DOESN'T MEAN THAT THEY STILL SHOULDN'T BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. I AM NOW DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY ARE REFUSING TO DO THE RIGHT THING. PLEASE HELP ME RESOLVE THIS.
WAS DRIVING ON MAJOR STREET WITH NO WARNING THE VEHICLE DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAJOR INTERSECTION. WE TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE AGAIN WITH NO LUCK.
