VEHICLE GAVE A WARNING THAT THE HYBRID SYSTEM FAILED AND TO SAFELY LEAVE THE ROAD AND STOP DRIVING. THERE WAS NO SHOULDER AND BEFORE I COULD LEAVE THE ROADWAY, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. NOT EVEN ENOUGH POWER FOR HAZARD LIGHTS.
THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE REMAINING ON EVEN IF BRAKE PADS ARE NOT BEING DEPRESSED. WHILE DRIVING OR IN PARK. THE CAR ALSO WILL STALL WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.
UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE I RECEIVED A LOUD CHIME AND A WARNING ON THE SMALL SCREEN ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INDICATING A BRAKE FAILURE, AND THAT I SHOULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THERE WAS A VERY LOUD GRINDING AND CHATTERING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE CAR. THERE WAS ALMOST NO BRAKING ACTION. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART IT. THE SAME SYMPTOMS OCCURRED. I THEN CHECKED OUTSIDE OF THE CAR FOR LEAKING FLUID. THERE WAS NONE. I OPENED THE HOOD AND INSPECTED THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR AND FOUND IT APPROXIMATELY 3/4 FULL OF BRAKE FLUID. I WIGGLED THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS TO THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE FLUID CONNECTIONS ALSO. I GOT BACK IN THE CAR AND ATTEMPTED A RESTART. THE CAR STARTED WITHOUT A PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER BEING PULLED OVER BY THE POLICE, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE REAR BRAKE LIGHT WAS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE BRAKE LAMP BULB WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, BRAKE LAMP WAS STILL INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LAMP WARNING LIGHT REMAINED DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V759000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). NEITHER THE DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WASTEGATE ACCUATOR DEFECTIVE MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE ENGINE FAILURE REPLACEMENT.. BUT RICK CASE HYUNDAI WONT REPLACE UNDER WARRANTY AS IT WAS GIVING ISSUES WHEN THE WARRANTY PERIOD WAS STILL VALID. POSSIBLY DAMAGED AT THE TIME OF BLOCK REPLACEMENT AS I HAD TO RETURN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES TO RESOLVE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TURBO FAILURE.
THE BRAKE LIGHTS KEEP BURNING OUT EVERY COUPLE MONTHS. YOU CAN CHECK FROM MY VIN THAT I HAVE ONLY SERVICED FROM LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP SINCE I BOUGHT IT FROM THEM. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND THIS PROBLEM IS AFFECTING MANY HYUNDAI MODELS. BASICALLY, THE BRAKE LIGHT SOCKET IS SO HOT THAT IT BURNS AND MELTS THE LIGHT BULB. THIS IS REALLY A FIRE HAZARD. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL YET ON THIS PROBLEM? OVER THE PAST YEAR, I HAVE REPLACED MY LIGHT BULBS LIKE 4 OR 5 TIMES. PLEASE TAKE A LOOK INTO THIS. IT WILL SAVE A LOTS OF PEOPLE

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA HYBRID. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH, WHITE SMOKE EMITTED FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL TO (PULL THE VEHICLE OVER AND TURN ENGINE OFF). THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TULSA HYUNDAI LOCATED AT (9777 S. MEMORIAL DR, TULSA, OK 74133) TO BE DIAGNOSED WHERE THE FAILURE WAS DISCOVERED TO BE RELATED TO THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND CURRENTLY STILL AT THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO PAY $1,500 OF THE REPAIR COST FOR GOODWILL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
IN JUNE 2019 I PURCHASED 4 BRAND NEW TIRES ( GENERAL ALTIMAX BRAND) FROM BENTLEY HYUNDAI. SINCE THE PURCHASE I HAD TO REPLACE ONE NEW TIRE IN AUGUST 2019 DUE TO FREQUENT LOW AIR PRESSURE. NOW I'M IN DEC 2019 AND FREQUENT LOW AIR PRESSURE CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. THE GENERAL ALTIMAX TIRE BRAND IS DANGEROUS AND HAS POOR QUALITY. AFTER HAVING MY VEHICLE TIRES SERVICED THERE WAS NO NAILS IN THE TIRE BUT WAS INFORMED GENERAL ALTIMAX TIRES ARE SUBSTANDARD QUALITY AND MAY CAUSE SAFETY CONCERNS. AS A DRIVER I DO NOT WANT TO BE ON THE ROAD AND THE AIR JUST DEFLATES CAUSING AN ACCIDENT OR DEATH. MY VEHICLE IS PARKED AT WORK 8 PLUS HOURS 5-6 DAYS A WEEK OR DRIVING CITY STREETS TO RUN ERRANDS OR AT CHURCH. FOR THE PAST 3 DAYS MY VEHICLES HAS BEEN PARKED AND TODAY I START MY VEHICLE AND THE LOW PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN. I JUST HAD MY TIRES CHECK ON 11/26/19. I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE MANY LOW PRESSURE TIRE ISSUES. I AM REQUESTING A REIMBURSEMENT.
SINCE THE PURCHASE OF MY VEHICLE IN DEC 2014 I HAVE REPLACED 12 OR MORE LIGHTS BULBS. FRONT HEADLIGHT AND BACK BRAKE LIGHTS. BENTLEY HYUANDAI DEALERSHIP WHO SOLD THE VEHICLE TOLD THE BACK BRAKE LIGHTS ENTIRE CASING HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT MELTED. I JUST CHANGED THE FRONT HEADLIGHT BULBS A MONTH AGO AND THE NOW THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLIGHT IS OUT AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE THE HEADLIGHTS GO OUT WHILE DRIVING. THEREFORE I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING AND NEITHER CAN THE OTHER DRIVERS SEE MY VEHICLE. THIS WAS A TERRIFYING INCIDENT. THIS SAFETY HAZARD IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY. I JUST HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED AT BENTLEY HYUNDAI AT THE END OF LAST MONTH AND NOW MY HEADLIGHTS ARE OUT AGAIN.

THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED NO ONE WAS INJURED OR SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO IMPOUND LOT. THE CONTACT CALLED LOCAL DEALER CAPITOL HYUNDAI SERVICE CENTER LOCATED AT 1050 CAPITOL EXPRESSWAY AUTO MALL, SAN JOSE, CA 95136, (408) 445-1600, WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED A THIRD PARTY COMPANY INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE, BUT DID NOT RELEASE ANY INFORMATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
BRAKE PEDDLE STICKING NOT RELEASING BRAKE LIGHTS TO TURN OF IN REAR.WHICH CAUSED A SHORTAGE..IN ELECTRICAL WIRING THAT SHORTED OUT WHOLE DASH SYSTEM AND SECURITY INCLUDING POWER WINDOWS GLOVE DEPARTMENT ETC. ISSUES WHEN BRAKE LIGHT WAS NOT RELEASING TRANSMISSION WAS JUMPING TO GEAR OF REVERSE AND DRIVE WITH OUT MY CONTROL

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HYUNDAI DE FAJARDO (LOCATED AT KM 51., PR-3, FAJARDO, 00738, PUERTO RICO), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
THE STEERING WHEEL CLICKS TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT, WHEN STEERING. IT'S A RATTLING METAL CLICKING SOUND. CAR SEEMS TO STEER, BUT THE NOISE IS WORRISOME. I CAN BE DRIVING AND WHEN I MOVE STEERING WHEEL, IT CLICKS AND WHILE DRIVING OR PARKED. IT CLICKS WITH MOVEMENT OF STEERING WHEEL. *TR
FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS WE HAVE BEEN BUYING LIGHT BULBS FOR THE CAR. THEY ARE EITHER BLOWING ARE THERE IS SOMETHING THAT'S MAKING THEM GO OUT. IF WE CHANGE ONE EITHER THAT SAME ONE OR ANOTHER ONE GOES OUT. AND IT'S WITH THE FRONT LIGHTS BACK LIGHTS AND I CURRENTLY HAVE AN INTERIOR LIGHT OUT ALONG WITH A FRONT HEAD LIGHT. I CAN'T PIN POINT IF THEY GO OUT WHILE DRIVING OR NOT ALL I KNOW WE HAVE GOTTEN PULLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT A LIGHT WE DIDN'T KNOW WAS OUT.
THERE IS A KNOCK IN THE IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND WHEN I HIT A BUMP ITS SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS LOSE THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. IT HAPPENS WHEN I DRIVE OR WHEN IM SITTING STILL IF YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IT KNOCKS
"HYBRID SYSTEM WARNING SAFELY STOP AND DO NOT DRIVE" MESSAGE COME UP ON THE DISPLAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIME. THE FIRST TIME AT A STOP LIGHT, AND THE MOTOR KEPT REVVING AND WOULD THE CAR WOULD JUMP FORWARD WHILE PRESSING THE BRAKE. AFTER GETTING OFF THE ROAD, PARKED, KILLED THE CAR AND CRANKED IT BACK UP. THE MESSAGE CLEARED. I TURNED THE CAR ON AND OFF A COUPLE TIMES AND MADE A TRIP ROUND THE PARKING LOT, STOPPING, SIFTING GEARS, ETC... WITH NO LUCK OF DUPLICATING THE ISSUE. THE SECOND TIME TWO MONTHS LATE, I WAS JUST PARKED AND THE MESSAGE CAME ON AS I WAS KILLING IT. I TRIED CRANKING THE CAR BUT KEPT GETTING THE ERROR AND THE EPS CAME ON BUT THE CAR DIDNT CRANK AND COULD NOT GET IT OUT OF PARK. MULTIPLE ON AND OFFS THE CAR FULL CRANKED UP AND WAS ABLE TAKE IT OUT OF PARK AND DRIVE FOR TEST SPIN AROUND THE PARKING LOT, TEST THE GEARS FROM D TO P .. NEVER GOT IT TO DO IT AGAIN. A WEEK LATER DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY THE LIGHT CAME ON AND HAD TO PULL OFF ON THE SHOULDER. TURNED THE CAR ON AND OFF AND ALL THE LIGHTS CLEARED. ABOUT A MONTH LATER GOT IN THE CAR TO GOT WORK AND THE SAME MESSAGE CAME ON ALONG WITH A CHECK ENGINE. THE CAR CRANKED BUT THE MESSAGE WOULDNT GO AWAY AFTER MULTIPLE ON/OFF'S AND SHIFTING OF GEARS. I SHOULD MENTION THAT WHEN YOU SHIFT THROUGH THE GEARS THE THE LIGHT ON THE DASH LINE UP. I NEVER HAVE PROBLEM WHILE SWITCHING GEAR FROM P TO R OR DRIVE. MOST WHILE DRIVING/STOPPING OR AFTER PARKING GOING FROM D TO P. LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE TOWED IN TO THE DEALER NOW.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AND MY 2012 HYUNDAI SONATA 2.0T LIMITED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ILLUMINATED AND THE POWER STEERING WAS NO LONGER WORKING. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER BECAUSE THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN WHILE PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR AND BEFORE I STOPPED ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE PANEL WERE OUT. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TRIED TO CUT IT OFF WITH THE PUSH STOP BUTTON AND IT WOULD NOT CUT OFF. THEN I CALLED ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND BEFORE I ENDED THE CALL THE ENGINE CUT OFF WITHOUT PRESSING THE ENGINE STOP BUTTON. IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY OR IN A BUSY AREA THE COULD HAVE ENDED IN A FATALITY. WHY ARE THERE NO RECALLS FOR THIS?
CLUNKING WHEN TURNING TO THE LEFT. CLUNKING WHEN STATIONARY AND TURNING THE WHEEL TO THE LEFT.
WAS GETTING READY TO MOVE FROM NC TO LA. DURING ACCELERATION ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN MOTION, STUMBLED AND THEN DIED SHORTLY AFTERWARDS. HAD A HARD TIME STEERING AND BRAKING, BUT LUCKILY THERE WAS NO VEHICLE AROUND. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC SHOP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE ENGINE AS FAILING/SEIZED. RECALL 132 WAS PERFORMED, BUT ENGINE WAS NOT REPLACED AND ONLY INSPECTED. RECALL DESCRIPTION : GDI ENGINE INSPECTION/REPLACEMENT. ; COMPLETED : MAY 23, 2018
CAR STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE WAS MAKING A LOUD GRINDING NOISE. PRIOR TO BEING ON THIS ROAD I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT 35-40 MILES BEFORE IT STOPPED AND WOULDN'T MOVE. WHEN I WOULD PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE IT WOULD MAKE A LOUD CLICKING NOISE. I CALLED HYUNDAI THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NO OPEN RECALL RELATED TO THIS ISSUE
IN MOTION GOING 20 MPH PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG DEPLOYED WITHOUT ACCIDENT. AIR BAG BUSTED ON MY HEAD, BACK, AND RIGHT SIDE OF MY FACE. WITH A POWDERY SHARP FILM ON ME. AIR BAG RECALL WAS NOT FIXED BY THE DEALERSHIP. I REPORTED IT TO HYUNDAI WHICH LEAD TO COUNTLESS EMAIL WITH NO REPAIRS MADE. SEAT AND DOOR PANEL IS RUINED WITH A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD THAT HAS SPREAD. ENGINE HAD BEEN STALLING AND PRODUCING WHITE SMOKE FROM THE TAILPIPES. WHILE IN MOTION CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF AND WILL NOT COME BACK ON. DASH BOARD LIGHTS UP GOES OFF COMES ON DISPLAYS KEY NOT IN VEHICLE WHEN THE KEY IS IN THE ARMREST PLUGGED IN. BRAKE PEDAL FREEZES UP PREVENTING THE CAR TO START. RADIO DOES NOT WORK CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BLINKS ON AND OFF WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION. REACH OUT TO HYUNDAI WEBB ON ROUTE 30 IN MERRILLVILLE, IN. THEY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A MONTH DUE TO THE ENGINE RECALL AND TURBO RECALL. THEY FORCED ME TO PICK THE VEHICLE UP AFTER HAVING IT FOR A MONTH. IN MOTION FROM THE DEALERSHIP THE CAR CUTS OFF. I GET IT BACK ON A BIG CLOUD OF WHITE SMOKE PRODUCES AND CUTS OFF AGAIN WHILE IN TRAFFIC. PRIOR TO PICKING THE CAR UP THE MANAGER OF THE SHOP CALLED INFORMED ME TO COME PICK IT UP AND BRING A BATTERY DUE TO THE BATTERY IN THE CAR IS DEAD. THE CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP...THEY DID NOT HAVE THE COURTESY TO CHARGE TO BATTERY TO TEST THE WORK THAT WAS DONE. I TAKE A BATTERY UP THERE THEY KEEP THE CAR FOR ANOTHER WEEK OR 2. WHEN I PICK IT UP THE ARMREST IS BROKEN THEY PUT A SCREW IN THE POSITIVE CABLE POST TO HOLD THE POST IN PLACE; I GUESS. THERE ARE ASHES ON THE FLOOR AS IF SOMEONE WAS SMOKING IN THE CAR, PUT DIFFERENT COLOR ANTIFREEZE IN THE ANTIFREEZE RESERVOIR; MEANING THEY MIXED THE FLUIDS THAT WOULD CAUSE MORE PROBLEMS. I CALLED THE MANAGER AGAIN IMMEDIATELY AND TOLD HIM THE CAR IS DOING THE SAME THINGS. TOLD ME TO DRIVE THE WHITE SMOKE OUT, CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE DON'T STAY RUNNING.
SEEMS STEERING COLUMN IS DEFECTIVE, KEEP GIVING CLANKING SOUNDS. ALSO AIRBAG WARNING SIGN KEEPS COMING.
MY ENGINE THREW A ROD AT APPROX. 85000 MILES (10/2019). HYUNDAI REPLACED THE SHORT BLOCK BUT SINCE THEN I CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES WITH MY CAR. AFTER THEY REPLACED THE SHORT BLOCK AND I PICKED MY CAR UP, THE CAR SEEMED TO BE RUNNING LIKE IT IS NOT GETTING CONSISTENT FUEL LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON. WHILE I AM DRIVING, THE CAR SEEMS TO LURCH AT RANDOM TIMES AND THIS ISSUE HAS GOTTEN SO BAD THAT THIS (WHAT I CALL LURCHING) MAKES THE CRUISE CONTROL SHUT OFF. ONE TIME I WAS USING THE CRUISE CONTROL TO ACCELERATE ONTO THE FREEWAY AND THE WARNING BELLS AND WHISTLES WENT OFF, THE CAR STALLED, THEN RESTARTED ITSELF WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. THE MOST RECENT TIME (10/26/20 - 11/10/20), THEY HAD MY CAR FOR 6 WEEKS, THEY DID NOT FIX IT. THEY PUT 337 MILES ON MY CAR WHILE THEY HAD IT AND I EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT TO THEM SINCE THE BEGINNING, AFTER I DROVE IT 38 MILES. THEY CANNOT SEEM TO FIND WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR OR FIX IT. 10/2019 THREW ROD - REPLACED SHORT BLOCK SEE ATTACHED 1/3/2020 REPLACED HSG BELT - DID NOT FIX ISSUE SEE ATTACHED DATE UNKNOWN - CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF BEFORE THEY COULD RUN CODES.UNABLE TO FIND ISSUES - DID NOTHING NO PAPERWORK 7/3/2020 - UNABLE TO DUPLICATE CONCERNS, PROVIDED SOFTWARE UPDATES. 8/20/2020 I CALLED SAN TAN HYUNDAI AND TOLD THEM I CONTINUED TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. I TOLD THEM I NEEDED A LOANER CAR AS I HAVE NO OTHER MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. I WAS ADVISED THEY DID NOT HAVE ONE AVAILABLE BUT WOULD CALL ME WHEN THEY DID. THEY NEVER CALLED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN ON 10/25 WHILE I WAS OUT OF TOWN SO I TOOK IT TO THEM 10/26. I HAVE PAID FOR 2 RENTAL CARS NOW WHILE TRYING TO GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED. 10/26/20 TRANS RESET RECYCLE CLEARED CODES - DID NOT FIX ISSUE SEE ATTACHED
DURING NORMAL DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (65 TO 70 MPH), THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND THE CAR LOST POWER. I WAS VERY STARTLED AND I IMMEDIATELY EXITED AND HEADED TO MY HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP. THE CAR HAD ALMOST NO POWER AND WAS BUCKING HARD. THE ENGINE HAD A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND THAT GREW IN INTENSITY AS THE ENGINE SPEED INCREASED. I DROVE GENTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP. MY CAR WOULD NO LONGER START. I RECEIVED A JUMP. THE CAR STARTED. IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. I RECEIVED A JUMP. THE CAR STARTED. I LET IT RUN 40 MINS. I SHUT IT OFF; TRIED TO START THE CAR BACK UP; AND IT WOULD NOT START. I RECEIVED A THIRD JUMP, IT STARTED, AND I TOOK MY BATTERY TO GET TESTED. THE BATTERY WAS FINE. WE WENT TO JUMP IT AGAIN, AND WE COULD NOT GET IT TO START. I HAD IT TOWED. AFTER INSPECTION, THE BATTERY TESTED AS FINE FOR A 2ND TIME. IT WAS BELIEVED THAT THE STARTED NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A DIFFERENT MECHANIC CAME OUT FOR THE STARTED REPLACEMENT BUT WANTED TO RUN SOME ADDITIONAL TESTS DUE TO THIS BEING A COMMON SONATA ISSUE. HE JUMPED THE CAR AND IMMEDIATELY IT STARTED BY BYPASSING THE BREAK. HE TESTED THE BATTERY (3RD TIME)--PASSED. ALTERNATOR--PASSED. STARTER--PASSED. HE ADVISED ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM PINPOINT THE RELAY/SIGNAL THAT WAS NOT PROPERLY WORKING. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REQUIRED ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THERE A BAD BATTERY, DESPITE IT HAVING PASSED 3X PRIOR AND WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING FURTHER BECAUSE THEY SAY ITS A BAD BATTERY AND NOTHING ELSE--DESPITE ME CONSISTENTLY TELLING THEM THE CAR HAS HAD ELECTRICAL ISSUES SINCE PURCHASED (CPO) AND THIS BEING A [GOOGLE-ABLE AND] VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE 2012 SONATA. LESS THAN 3 MONTHS AGO, I EXPERIENCED A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE LIGHTS NOT TURNING OFF AS WELL. THE 2011 - 2013 SONATAS ARE RIDDEN WITH ELECTRICAL ISSUES THAT HYUNDAI IS COVERING UP, AND THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.
AIRBAG LIGHT DOES NOT GO AWAY. NO ACCIDENT. HEADLIGHT AND BRAKELIGHT BURNS OUT EVERY 6-8 MONTHS.
WAS CHANGING LANES AND TRIED TO PICK UP SPEED. AT WHICH POINT MY ENGINE LOCKED UP AND NO LONGER TURN OVER. THIS CAUSED MY POWER STEERING TO FAIL, BRAKES TO BE APPLIED DESPITE ME NOT PRESSING THEM. THEN MY CAR BEGAN TO SMELL LIKE IT WAS BURNING. I WAS GOING 50 ON A HIGHWAY WHEN THIS ACCRUED DURING RUSH HOUR.

STEERING COLUMN RATTLES AND SHAKES WHEN I GO OVER BUMPS/POT HOLES. MY MECHANIC DESCRIBED THE INCIDENTS AS SIMILAR TO ONES WHICH HE HAS SEEN ON OTHER SONATAS AND TOLD ME THAT THERE IS AN OPEN RECALL. DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A RECALL FOR THIS MODEL YEAR.
UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, THE CAR JOLTED AND SOMETHING DIDN'T FEEL RIGHT ON THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OFF OF A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AND INTO A PARKING LOT. I DISCOVERED MOTOR OIL ALL OVER THE INSIDE OF THE ENGINE BAY AND IN THE RIGHT WHEEL WELL. UPON INSPECTION BY TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICAL SHOPS AND MY INSURANCE COMPANY, A HOLE WAS FOUND IN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE HAS 90,017 MILES ON IT. IT HAS BEEN INDICATED THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT WOULD LEAD TO ENGINE FAILURE AND A HOLE IN THE ENGINE. HYUNDAI IS CLAIMING THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE THETA II ENGINE RECALL AND HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY SLOW TO ASSIST. I AM THE SECOND OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN JUNE OF 2017 WITH APPROXIMATELY 39,500 MILES ON IT. I HAVE CHANGED OIL WITH SYNTHETIC OIL EVERY 7500 MILES WHICH IS THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATION. THERE WAS NO WARNING, NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, ETC. PRIOR TO THE ENGINE FAILURE.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 60 MPH AND ALL THE SUDDEN IT'S LIKE THE CAR SHUTS OFF, SLOWING TO ABOUT 45. AS I PUSH ON GAS IT DOES NOTHING THEN ABOUT 3 SECONDS LATER JERKS BACK UP AND THEN REPEATS. IT DOES THIS NOW EVERYTIME I AM TRAVELING. BESIDES GIVING ME WHIPLASH, IT IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT COULD DEFINITELY CAUSE A CRASH. MY BRAKE LIGHTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 5 TIMES IN TWO YEARS. THE SRS AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT HAS COME ON AND STAYS ON. I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S A WARNING ON AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT, SEAT BELT FUNCTION, BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR OR ONE. THE HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM CANNOT FIT ME IN TO INSPECT FOR A COUPLE MONTHS AND I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE THE CAR IF IT'S DANGEROUS.

CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL, AND IT WAS OK. TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND NO BRAKE DASH WARNINGS OR CHIMING. BACKED CAR UP AND NO GRINDING SOUND. CALLED DEALER. HYBRID MECHANIC HAPPENED TO BE NEAR PHONE. I WAS TOLD TO CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL AND TURN CAR OFF AND ON TO SEE IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. ALREADY DID THAT WITH NO PROBLEMS. HAD TO DRIVE THE CAR HOME WHICH WAS 180 MILES AWAY. IT MAKES NO SENSE THAT EVERYTHING IS WORKING FINE NOW. HAD A LOCAL BRAKE SHOP CHECK FOR LEAKS, ETC. NO PROBLEMS. THEY PLUGGED INTO THE CAR'S COMPUTER, AND THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES. RELUCTANT TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER WHEN NO CURRENT PROBLEM EXISTS. DON'T WANT THEM TO JUST START REPLACING PARTS WHICH ARE VERY EXPENSIVE AND AS MUCH AS $3,000 TOTAL INSTALLED. BRAKE LIGHT BURNT OUT ALSO BURNT THE LIGHT FIXTURE. DEALER SAID THIS WAS A PROBLEM SO THEY CHANGED THE BRAKE LIGHT PIECE ON THE HARNESS AND THE FIXTURE. BUT THE DIDNT RECALL IT.
