TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK, HESITATED, AND STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO UNIVERSAL HYUNDAI (12801 S ORANGE BLOSSOM TRAIL, ORLANDO, FL 32837), WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED TWICE UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED A THIRD TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.*LN *AS
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I NOTICED THE RPM'S DROPPED TO ZERO AND THE ACCELERATOR STOPPED WORKING. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER WITH MEDIUM TRAFFIC TRAVELING AT 70 MPH.
MY VEHICLE RATTLES AND KNOCKS ALL THE TIME. IT HAS A LITTLE OVER 65000 MILES AND HAS DONE THIS FOR YEARS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD IT SUPPOSED TO SOUND LIKE THAT. THE CAR HAS NO POWER WHAT SO EVER CLIMBING HILLS AND MY GAS MILEAGE KEEPS GOING DOWN. I HAVE HEARD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM BUT I WANT IT FIXED AS I DONT FEE THIS CAR IS RELIABLE AS IT HAS QUIT RUNNING ONE TIME BEFORE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONES CAR CUTS OFF AND CAUSES AN ACCIDENT AND SOMEONE GET KILLED. IT DOES THIS ANYTIME YOU GIVE THE CAR THROTTLE. THE SECOND THING IS THE POOR STITCHING IN THE LEATHER SEATS. MY SEATS STARTED COMING APART AT THE SEAMS AND THE DEALER SAYS ITS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT I PURCHASED A FULL 10 YEAR 100000 MILE WARRANTY. THIS IS POOR MATERIALS AND WORKMASHIPL I DRIVE THE CAR ABOUT 14 DAYS A MONTH AND IT SHOULDN'T ALREADY HAVE A COMING APART.
ENGINE TAPPING,KNOCKING NOISE BY THE PISTONS HYUNDAI RECALL FOR SOFTWARE UPGRADE THEN TWO MONTHS LATER ENGINE WENT INTO PROTECTION MODE MAX SPEED ONLY 57 MPH SO THEY CHANGE KNOCK SENSOR THEN 5 DAYS LATER BACK TO HYUNDAI WITH SAME PROBLEM ENGINE RUNNING IN PROTECTION MODE WITH THE BLINKING ENGINE LIGHT AGAIN THIS IS THE THIRD TIME. KNOCK SENSOR WORKED FIND THE FIRST TIME BECAUSE SOMETHING HAPPEN WITH THE KNEW ONE. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON EVERY CASE ENGINE IS NO GOOD.
FOR THE PAST 6 MONTHS I'VE BEEN EXPERIENCING BRAKE ISSUES. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY, SOMETIMES WHILE I AM DRIVING (AT SPEEDS RANGING FROM 20-65 MPH) AND SOMETIMES WHEN I AM STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN. IT EVEN HAPPENED WHILE I WAS SITTING IN TRAFFIC ON A HILL DRIVING INTO YOSEMITE VALLEY! WHEN IT HAPPEND, THE CAR ISSUES A WARNING SAYING THAT THERE IS A BRAKE FAILURE AND TO PULL OVER SAFELY. IT FEELS AS IF SOMETHING IS DRAGGING ON THE FRONT WHEELS AND THE CAR STOPS ON ITS OWN. I TOOK IT TO LOCAL MECHANIC BUT THEY COULDN'T DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE AND SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO HYUNDAI. I TOOK IT INTO HYUNDAI THIS WEEKEND AND THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THEY WERE FAMILIAR WITH THE ISSUE AND SAYS IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE HYDRAULIC BRAKES ALERTING THE SYSTEM TO BRAKE WHEN IT SHOULDN'T BE. IT'S GOING TO COST ME AROUND $2500 TO FIX IT, WHICH IS A HEFTY SUM AND UNFORTUNATELY WILL HAVE TO COME OUT OF MY WEDDING BUDGET FOR MY WEDDING IN 6 MONTHS. IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING HYUNDAI SHOULD TAKE CARE OF. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS, I COULD'VE GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT IF THE CARS BEHIND AND AROUND ME WERE NOT PAYING ATTENTION WHEN THE BRAKE FAILURES OCCURRED. I THOUGHT I WOULD BE OKAY IF IT HAPPENED AFTER ONCE OR TWICE. BUT I GOT REALLY SCARED WHEN IT HAPPENED IN YOSEMITE SINCE THERE WAS NO PLACE TO PULL OVER SO I DECIDED TO TAKE IT IN.
THE HEADLIGHTS KEEP NOT WORKING. SOMETIMES I JUST HAVE TO UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL THE BULB AND THEN IT'LL WORK. OTHER TIMES THE BULB IS BURNT OUT.. I HAVE REPLACED ONE BULB 4 TIMES IN 3 YEARS.
SHORT IN WIRING FOR LEFT LOW BEAM CAUSES IT TO INDICATE UNNECESSARY BULB REPLACEMENT AND INTERMITTENTLY CUT OFF WHILE VEHICLE IS IN OPERATION.
ON OCTOBER 8, 2019, I WAS DRIVING ON HWY 285 IN GEORGIA, WHEN MY HYUNDAI SONATA BEGAN TO REDUCE ITS SPEED DESPITE ME PRESSING THE GAS. AS I ATTEMPTED TO GET TO SAFETY, A WARNING LIGHT FLASHED 'TRANSMISSION HOT..STOP'. THERE WAS NO WARNING OTHER THAN THAT LIGHT THAT POPPED ON AT THAT MOMENT. WHILE DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION MY CAR COMPLETELY TURNED OFF. I MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART WITH NO LUCK. THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING AND I MAINTAIN REGULARLY OIL CHANGES. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP, WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT MY MOTOR/ENGINE NEEDED TO BE COMPLETELY REPAIRED. WHEN I ASKED WHAT THE CAUSE WAS, I WAS INFORMED THAT MY 3RD PISTON HAD EXPLODED AND DAMAGED THE MOTOR TO THE POINT OF NEEDING REPLACEMENT. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT IT WAS NOT KNOW WHY THIS OCCURRED. I WAS ALSO INSTRUCTED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NO LONGER MAKING THE MOTOR THAT I HAVE IN MY CAR AND I WOULD NOT TO PURCHASE A USED ONE. THIS WOULD COST ME APPROXIMATELY $5000 AT THE LEAST. I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS CAR FOR LESS THAN TWO YEARS AND REQUIRING A NEW MOTOR IS UNBELIEVABLE. THE MECHANIC SHARED THAT I WAS LUCKY THAT THE CAR DID NOT CATCH ON FIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT.
MY AIR BAG LIGHT KEPT ON LIGHTING UP ON MY DASHBOARD, IT KEPT LIGHTING ON AND OFF FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND NOW IT IS A STEADY LIGHT. EVERY TIME I START THE CAR NOW IT'S A STEADY LIGHT.

AS A RESULT THE OTHER DRIVER WAS NOT INJURED AS HER AIRBAGS DEPLODED CORRECTLY. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. AT THE TIME OF SURGERY, WENT BACK IN 2 WEEKS LATER AND RECEIVED ANOTHER UNIT OF BLOOD. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INSURANCE TOW LOT AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 37,000. *BF *TP
WHILE DRIVING 30-40 MPH THE CAR TURN OFF.. FOR NO REASON .. I HAVE ALWAYS DONE MAINTENANCE ON THE CAR FROM DEALERSHIP. JUST PUT IN A NEW BATTERY.. AND CAR TURN OFF.. THIS HAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES
AT 91000 MILES THE HYDRAULIC BRAKING SYSTEM FAILED. HYUNDAI HAS A 100000 MILE WARRANTY ON THE POWERTRAIN FOR THIS VEHICLE BUT THEY REFUSED TO REPAIR THE CAR UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM AND I BELIEVE THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AT LEAST, IF THEY ARE NOT GOING TO COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. REPAIRS ARE ASTRONOMICALLY EXPENSIVE. I WAS QUOTED MORE THAN 7000 DOLLARS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURED, THE BRAKES BECOME UNUSABLE AND THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I THINK HYUNDAI AND ITS DEALERS SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS TYPE OF FAILURE.
AT NIGHT, WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE SET TO THE AUTO FUNCTION, MANY TIMES THE HEADLIGHTS WILL GO COMPLETELY OUT FOR SEVERAL SECONDS WHEN USING THE TURN SIGNAL. OUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD MY WIFE THEY HAVE HAD MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THIS ISSUE ALSO SEEMS TO BE REPORTED ONLINE FREQUENTLY. THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING GOING AROUND TURNS. THE HEADLIGHTS AND TURN SIGNALS ARE ON THE SAME STALK ON THE STEERING COLUMN. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND I FEAR FOR MY WIFE WHEN SHE'S DRIVING THE CAR LATE NIGHT ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO STEVENSON HYUNDAI OF JACKSONVILLE (2325 N MARINE BLVD, JACKSONVILLE, NC 28546, (910) 455-1555) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE COUPLER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.

THE TURN SIGNAL ON OCCASIONS ALSO OPERATED INDEPENDENTLY. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
LEFT FRONT CV AXEL/SHIFT ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WITH 61,000 MILES.
AT 45,800 MILES MY SONATA COULD NOT REACH 60 MPH AND THE RPM COULD NOT REACH 2000. I ALSO NOTICED THE GAS MILEAGE DROPS THE SONATA HAD 35,000 MILES ON IT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDS NEW ENGINE.
EVERY SENSE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE I'VE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY IGNITION LOCKING UP AND THE ACCESSORY POSITION AND I'M NOT ABLE TO TURN MY KEY I WILL HAVE TO SIT FOR 2 HOURS AND JUST KEEP PLAYING WITH THE KEY UNTIL IT DECIDES TO TURN

THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NAPLETON HYUNDAI OF CARMEL (4200 E 96TH ST, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46240, (844) 729-4217) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT CODE: P1326 (KNOCK SENSOR ACTIVATION) FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE KNOCK AND TORQUE SENSORS. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE UNKNOWN PARTS WERE ORDERED AND REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 16277030. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 51,000.
HI NHTSA, I DRIVE A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA AND FOLLOWED ALL THE RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE. I STARTED TO NOTICE MY OIL LEVEL WAS BELOW LOW AFTER 2000 MILES AT 47000 ON THE VEHICLE. I THOUGHT IT WAS NOT FILLED CORRECTLY AND HAD MY MECHANIC CHECK IT. ALSO, I TOLD MY HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN LAUREL, MD ABOUT THE FINDING. I DECIDED TO TOP OFF MY OIL AND CLOSELY MONITOR THE STATUS. ON MY NEXT OIL CHANGE, AFTER 2000 MILES MY OIL WAS LOW AGAIN. I ADD ROUGHLY 1.5 QTS TO TOP IT OFF. I BROUGHT MY CAR UNTIL HYUNDAI FOR AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THE MECHANIC DID NOT NOTE HOW MUCH OIL HE STARTED AS THE BASELINE; HOWEVER, THE DIP STICK WAS OVER THE FULL MARK. AFTER 3000 MILES, MY OIL WAS AT THE LOW LEVEL. PER HYUNDAI OWNER MANUAL, I CAN DRIVE 7500 MILES BETWEEN OIL CHANGES WITH NON - EXTREME DRIVING. HYUNDAI STATED MY CAR WAS NOT CONSUMING OIL, AND THIS IS NORMAL.
ENGINE HAS TO MANY RECALLS DID ALL OF THEM. ENGINE STARING SHAKING AND BURNING OIL AND CONSUMING FUEL. THIS VEHICLE COULD BE A HAZARD OR CAN STOP IN MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY AND PROVOKING ACCIDENT OR DEATH.
WHEN PARKING OR DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE ABS AND TRACTION ICONS HIGHLIGHT AT RANDOM MOMENTS AND MAY STAY ON WHILE DRIVING OR MAY TURN OFF.
Please refer to prior complaint #11505068 I want to add the fact that this vehicle's engine was replaced on or around Sept 1, 2019. This dealer asked me who replaced the fuel pump, and I responded it was replaced by Rick Case Hyundai where the car was brought to with the seized engine.
I PURCHASED MY 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA RECENTLY WITH ONLY 46K MILES ON IT. AFTER 3 WEEKS, THE ENGINE STARTED CLICKING LOUDLY AND IT LITERALLY SOUNDED LIKE A ROLLER COASTER BEING PULLED UPHILL WHEN UNDER LOAD. A WEEK LATER THE TICKING WAS CONSTANT. MY HUSBAND CHANGED MY OIL AND STRAINED IT, FINDING SMALL METAL FRAGMENTS IN THE OIL. THESE FRAGMENTS ARE FROM AN ENGINE DEFECT THAT HYUNDAI EVEN ADMITS HAVING. NOW AS THE SECOND OWNER, I HAVE NO SERVICE RECORDS PRIOR TO OWNERSHIP AND MY WARRANTY CLAIM WAS DENIED BECAUSE OF IT. HOW CAN THIS BE HAPPENING? HYUNDAI ADMITS DEFECT BUT ARE STILL ALLOWED TO RIP OFF CONSUMERS WITH BAD ENGINES? THE GDI HYUNDAI ENGINES ARE DEFECTIVE AND IT COST ME $3,000!

NAVIGATION SYSTEM REPLACED TWICE. DEFECTIVE GPS, BLUETOOTH AND SPEAKER. NOW IN DEALERSHIP FOR THE 3RD TIME FOR 5 WEEKS AND STILL CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM.
THE VEHICLE HAS INTERMITTENTLY FAILED TO ENGAGE IN REVERSE. THIS IS ONLY REMEDIED BY SHUTTING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING IT. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN INTERMITTENT INCIDENTS OF SEVERE HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING, SURGES IN THE TACHOMETER AT INAPPROPRIATE TIMES ACCOMPANIED BY THE ENGINE RACING (WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT INDICATOR ON), AND JOLTING ACCELERATIONS. THE VEHICLE IS USUALLY GOING FROM A STATIONARY POSITION AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR INTERSECTION WHEN THE PROBLEMS WITH HESITANT ACCELERATION OCCUR. THE FAILURE TO REVERSE ISSUES OCCUR WHEN TRYING TO LEAVE PARKING SPOTS OR MY OWN DRIVEWAY. THE ENGINE RACING HAS OCCURRED AT TAKE OFF FROM A STATIONARY POSITION AT INTERSECTIONS AND WHILE IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TWICE OVER THESE SAME ISSUES AND BOTH TIMES THE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY RESET THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER. THE MANAGEMENT OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ASSIGNED BLAME TO THE DOUBLE CLUTCH TRANSMISSION AND SAID IT MUST LEARN THE DRIVER'S SPECIFIC DRIVING HABITS. THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS HAVE ALWAYS RETURNED AND REMAINED PRESENT THE ENTIRE TIME THE CAR HAS BEEN OWNED.

THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 16052684. THE CONTACT REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT, BUT WAS DENIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,137.
TAKATA RECALL. MY 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA LOST POWER WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I TOOK TO MECHANIC AND THEY SAY MY MOTOR LOCKED UP. MY CAR ONLY HAS 76000 MILES
WE PURCHASED OUR 2015 SONATA LIMITED IN JUNE OF 2018 WITH JUST SHY OF 59K MILES. IN AUGUST OF 2019; AND AT 66K MILES; OUR VEHICLE STARTED PRODUCING A KNOCKING NOISE; WITH A FLASHING "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT; AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. SINCE AUGUST OF 2019, OUR SONATA HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT 3 TIMES; AND FOR A CONSECUTIVE 30 DAYS. WE WERE TOLD WITH THE FIRST TIME IN THE SHOP THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW SENSOR; WHICH WAS REPAIRED WITHIN A DAY. WHEN MY HUSBAND RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO TAKE THE CAR HOME; HE BARELY MADE IT A MILE FROM THE DEALERSHIP BEFORE THE CAR STARTED REPEATING THE SAME ISSUES. THE VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THE SECOND TIME WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE; WE MADE IN NEARLY 20 MILES BACK TOWARD HOME BEFORE THE CAR DIED AGAIN. THE THIRD TIME INTO THE DEALERSHIP; AND THEY FINALLY DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE HAD FAILED AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. DURING THIS WHOLE MESS, WE LEARNED THAT WE WERE EXPERIENCING THE CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE THAT IS ASSOCIATED WITH HYUNDAI'S DEFECTIVE 2.4L THETA II ENGINES. WE HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA. THEY ORIGINALLY OFFERED TO BUY IT BACK FOR $4K LESS THAN WE OWE ON IT; AND CONTINUED TO MOVE US FROM ONE REPRESENTATIVE TO THE NEXT. AS OF TODAY, HYUNDAI HAS SUDDENLY CHANGED THEIR MIND AND REFUSE TO BUY THE CAR BACK. HYUNDAI HAS PRODUCED AN UNSAFE & DEFECTIVE VEHICLE; PRONE TO POTENTIAL ENGINE FIRES; ENGINE FAILURE; TRANSMISSION ISSUES; SEATBELTS THAT DON'T FUNCTION PROPERLY; AND POWER STEERING ISSUES. HYUNDAI REFUSES TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR UNSAFE & DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. WE NO LONGER FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE (WHICH IS STILL IN THE SHOP, BTW); AND NO LONGER TRUST IT TO BE RELIABLE.
TAKATA RECALL. MY STARTER WENT OUT AND THE MOTOR LOCKED UP
I SEEN MY VEHICLE HAD A RECALL ABOUT THE BRAKE LIGHT. I SEEN IT FLASHING SO I THOUGHT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH MY BRAKES I HAD THEM CHANGE MY WHEEL BARRELS CHANGED ROUTERS CHANGED AND IT STILL MAKE A SCRUBBING NOISE
STALLING, CAR STOPS RUNNING WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR ABOUT TO TAKE OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. THE CAR WAS CHECKED BY THE DEALER, DEALER SAID THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED AND WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THE VEHICLE LUNGES/SURGES FORWARD AS IF THE BRAKES ARE FAILING AND I'M GOING TO HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I TOOK THE THE VEHICLE TO 2 LOCAL JIM CLICK HYUNDAI DEALERS, THE FAULT CODE IS P200A AND THEY STATED THE ISSUE IS MOST LIKELY REPLACING THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WHICH WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND MY MILEAGE IS 85,000 PRESENTLY. I WOULD THINK THAT IT WOULD BE A WARRANTY ITEM BECAUSE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD IS BOLTED TO THE ENGINE AND CONNECTED TO THE ENGINE WITH WIRES. NOW I'M STUCK WITH A $1000 REPAIR BILL.
THE SEATBELT WOULD NOT ENGAGE ON SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO WHEN ATTEMPTING TO LOCK IT IN PLACE.
MY VEHICLE'S DUAL-CLUTCH SYSTEM HAS BEEN MAKING LOUD, GRINDING NOISES WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, OR LOW SPEED (0-10 MILES PER HOUR). WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I AM NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE UNLESS I SLAM THE BREAK ON, AND TRY TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN DANGEROUS WHEN CROSSING INTERSECTIONS BECAUSE THE OTHER DRIVERS AROUND ARE NOT ANTICIPATING A FULL STOP. AS THE CLUTCH CONTINUES TO NOT ENGAGE, THE PROBLEM BECOMES MORE AND MORE FREQUENT AND HAS EVEN GOT TO THE POINT WHERE IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE OR GO INTO THE NEXT GEAR WHEN IN HIGH SPEEDS. THIS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE TRYING TO MERGE ONTO A FREEWAY, I WAS GOING ABOUT 30 MPH, THE RPMS JUMPED UP AND DOWN AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE THE CAR AT ALL. IT WAS EXTREMELY UNSAFE BECAUSE THERE WAS NO SHOULDER LANE AND I WAS CROSSING A BRIDGE. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER 6 MONTHS. I AM CURRENTLY NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT HAS BECOME SO FREQUENT OF A PROBLEM.
PURCHASED 9 MONTHS AGO FROM A LOCAL DEALER CERTIFIED ROAD READY CARFAX CERTIFIED. HAD 41000 MILES. AT 63000 MILES ENTERING HIGHWAY 65 MPH, CAR BUCK AND LOSES POWER, ENGINE SHUTS OFF, ALL IDIOT LIGHTS ARE LIT AND COAST TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY IN FLOWING TRAFFIC. CAR STARTS UP AND DOES EXACTLY SAME THING. CAR STARTED BUT NOT CHANCING AGAIN. HABIT TOWED 40 MILES TO LOCAL MECHANIC. OBD CODE P0114. MECHANIC SUGGEST CHANGING CVT VALVE. FINDS METAL SHAVINGS CLOGGING VALVE. COST $310. I LEAVE GARAGE AND CAR DOES SAME THING 5 MILES FROM GARAGE. NOW HE SUGGESTED DEALER TO DIAGNOSE. CAR STARTS BUT MAKES TERRIBLE NOISE. TOW TO DEALER. 2 DAYS LATER I CALL THEM AND HE SAID COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE AND NEED NEW ENGINE BLOCK. HE WILL SUBMIT PAPERWORK TO HYUNDAI? FOR APPROVAL. THIS LOOKS LIKE KNOWN ISSUE. WHY IS THIS ALLOWED? SAFETY ISSUE, NOT SURE I WANT CAR BACK, OR TRUST IT'S FIXED CORRECTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT A VERY LOW SPEED, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY FAILED. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE ENGINE SEIZED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. AFTER EACH FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WOULD RESTART AND RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE ENGINE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO NAPLETON HYUNDAI OF CARMEL (4200 E 96TH ST, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46240, (844) 729-4217) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
I OWN A 2015 2.0 LIMITED SONATA I NOTICED I HAD HALF A TANK OF GAS SO I WENT TO PUT GAS IN AND IT ONLY LET ME PUT $4 WORTH IN AND SO THE NEXT DAY I TRIED TO PUT MORE GAS IN AND NOW THE GAS LID WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL, NOW I ONLY HAVE LESS THAN HALF IN AND THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP IS 150 MILES AWAY.

ON 07/16/2019 I PURCHASED A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA FROM CARVANA AND HAVE RUN INTO THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS: THE BATTERY WAS NOT THE CORRECT SIZE FOR THAT MODEL CAR, THE ENGINE AIR INTAKE WAS COMPLETELY MISSING, AND THE SUPERCHARGER BLEW UP 4 DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR. I HAVE SENT AN EMAIL TO CARVANA BUT NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE. I HAVE MORE DOCUMENTS PERTAINING TO THIS MATTER THAT ARE TOO LARGE TO ATTACHED AND WILL BE ABLE TO SEND THEM VIA EMAIL.
I WAS DRIVING 60MPH WITH CRUISE ON A STATE HIGHWAY. WHEN THE CAR ACCELERATED THERE WAS A NOISE I COULDN'T IDENTIFY. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO INVESTIGATE AND THE NOISE SOUNDED LIKE ROCKS GRINDING. I CHECKED OIL AND IT WAS FULL. WHEN CAR WAS RESTARTED THE NOISE RESUMED. I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND IT DIDN'T START AGAIN. TOWED TO A GARAGE AND THEY SAID THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE OIL AND MOTOR WAS LOCKED UP. 125K MILES AND REGULARLY MAINTAINED. ENGINE WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $4000.
I WAS DRIVING HOME ON FREEWAY FROM WORK AND I HEARD LOUD GUNSHOT THOUGHT SOMEONE SHOT ME (DEAF FROM ONE EAR SO HARD TO DISTINGUISH SOUND) TRIED TO SEE IF TIRES FLAT NO ALARM WENT OFF SO PULLED OVER. A CAR PULLED OVER ALSO SO GOT DOWN I SEE MY SUNROOF THAT LOOKS LIKE IT EXPLODED , WENT TO GUY AND HE ASKED WHAT HAPPENED? THE GLASS HIT HIS NEW CAR. I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT I DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED I WAS IN SUCH SHOCK BECAUSE IT HAPPENED UNEXPECTEDLY OUT OF KNOW WHERE. SAME WEEK CAR WAS TAKEN BACK TO REPAIR SHOP FOR CONCERNS, CLICKING, VIBRATING, ETC. WAS TOLD BY DICK SMITH REPAIR SHOP NEEDS A BOOT BUT CAR IS "DRIVEABLE". TWO DAYS LATER CAR DIES WHILE DRIVING.. DS (JEFF, SERVICE MGR) SAYS DIED 4 NO OIL CAUSING ENGINE TO "SEIZE UP" BUT NO LIGHT WAS ON.. AND PRIOR TO HYUNDAI RUNNING DIAGNOSTICS ALSO. DS TOWED TO HYUNDAI. TOLD BY PEACOCK HYUNDAI (CHRIS) THEY HAD SEVERAL REPORTS OF ENGINE FAILURE WITHIN 2 WEEKS OF MY CAR BEING TOWED AND THEY WERE WAITING ON APPROVAL FOR NEW ENGINE BUT THEN A DIFFERENT PERSON (TED) SAYS ENGINE "SEIZED" FOR NO OIL BUT CAR HAD OIL CHANGE WITHIN LAST 6K MILES AND IS FULL SYNTHETIC. PLEASE HELP AS I HAVE A NEWBORN AND NEED A VEHICLE.

IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, REMAINED LIT, AND FLASHED OCCASIONALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HYUNDAI INLAND EMPIRE (909-796-1600, LOCATED AT 25072 REDLANDS BLVD, LOMA LINDA, CA 92354), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 59,800. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
AFTER THE WHEEL OF MY CAR STARTED VIBRATING WHILE TURNING AS WELL AS ROLLING BACK WHEN ON A SLIGHT INCLINE, I DECIDED TO LOOK THE ISSUE UP AND FOUND OTHER SONATAS WITH THE SAME YEAR HAD A RECALL. WHILE MY VIN# DID NOT HAVE THE RECALL DOES NOT MEAN THE CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. AFTER VISITING A DEALER, HE DETERMINED THE AXLE WAS INDEED THE ISSUE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HAVING DEALT WITH RECALLS IN MY OWN COMPANY, IT IS 100% POSSIBLE THAT A RECALL DOES NOT CATCH ALL OF THE VEHICLES WITH THE ISSUE. HYUNDAI CALLED ME ON MY CONCERN AND SAID THEY WOULD MAKE A NOTE OF IT, MEANWHILE, I COULD VERY WELL HAVE A FATAL ACCIDENT DUE TO AN AXLE SEPARATION FROM A KNOWN ISSUE. THIS ISSUE BEGAN WHEN TURNING LEFT AND HAS NOW STARTED WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT WHICH CLEARLY INDICATES IT IS GETTING CRITICALLY WORSE.

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. POLICE REPORT NUMBER: 19172167 WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED FROM THE SCENE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I WAS SITTING STILL AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AT A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION AND THE CAR JUST TURNED OFF AND WOULDN'T TURN BACK ON. I JUST SAT THERE TRYING TO GET IT TO START BUT NO GO. MEANWHILE CARS WERE WHIZZING BY ME AND I WAS AFRAID I'D GET HIT IF I GOT OUT. AFTER ALMOST 20 MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR STARTED.
