NOTICING KNOCKING SOUND AFTER STARTING ENGINE, PARKED STATIONARY. DEALER DIAGNOSED ENGINE FAILURE. ENGINE HAS LOW MILES, ONLY 121,000
THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING WHILE I WAS DRIVING. AFTER TOWING TO THE MECHANIC, HE DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE HAD SEIZED.
JUST HAD CAR SERVICES AT HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP TWO WEEKS AGO WITH OIL CHANGE AND RUST RECALL ALONG WITH MULTIPOINT INSPECTION. FRIDAY 6/10/2017 WAS DRIVING HOME TURNING LEFT IN A BUSY INTERSECTION AND HEAR A LOUD PING PING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, AND I CAN NO LONGER ACCELERATE. CARS ARE HOOKING BEHIND ME AS I TURN ON MY HAZARDS AND AM ABLE TO FINALLY COAST TO THE SIDE STREET AND TURN OFF THE CAR. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED TWICE. TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER. THEY BROKE DOWN THE ENGINE AND SAID THAT THEY ENGINE SEIZED UP AND THE BEARINGS HAD METAL SHAVING ALL OVER DOWN TO THE OIL PAN. THEY SAID THIS LOOKED TO BE CONSISTENT WITH WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN SEEING IN THE RECALLED 2.4 L ENGINES. THEY FILED A CLAIM WITH HYUNDAI SINCE I AM THE SECOND OWNER THE ARE DECLINING THE REPAIR REQUEST BECAUSE I AM THE SECOND OWNER AND HAVE 80,000 MILES. SO MUCH FOR HELPING YOUR CUSTOMER THAT WAS ALMOST KILLS BECAUSE OF ENGINE FAILURE
DRIVING VEHICLE WHEN ENGINE LOST POWER, ENGINE BEGAN TO MAKE PINGING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD, VIBRATIONS BEGAN AND THEN PROCEED WITH KNOCKING. ENGINE SEIZED UP.
LAST WEEK, WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY IN RURAL NEVADA,IN A PASSING ZONE, ON A SHALLOW UPHILL CURVE, ATTEMPTED TO PASS A TRASH TRUCK,ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 65 MPH, AND JUST AS WE MORE OR LESS ABEAM THE TRUCK, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY QUIT. WE HAD ENOUGH MOMENTUM WAS ABLE TO COMPLETE PASS AND IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER TO SIDE. HAD THERE BEEN ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THAT WAS JUDGED TO BE FAR ENOUGH DISTANCE TO SAFELY PASS, IT IS POSSIBLE THAT WITH THE ENGINE QUITTING, COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION. THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR BOTH TESTED OK. THE OIL LEVEL WAS FULL. ALL FACTORY RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE HAD BEEN COMPLIED WITH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO CARSON CITY( ABOUT 80 MILES). THE DEALER SAID THE ENGINE 'SEIZED', CAUSE UNKNOWN, WITHOUT A TEARDOWN,
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, A POPPING SOUND EMITTED FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND IT STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT COASTED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE AFTER BANGING SOUND JUST AS IN OTHER MODELS BEING RECALLED BY HYUNDAI.
WHILE DRIVING --LOUD KNOCKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE. WAS DIAGNOSED BY DEALER AS HAVING WORN ROD/CRANKSHAFT;METAL DEBRIS IN OIL PAN -- IF CONTINUING TO DRIVE, THEN WARNED TO CAUSE ENGINE FAILURE AND SHUTDOWN. THIS SAME PROBLEM RECEIVED A RECALL IN SONATAS, BUT NOW IS HAPPENING WITH THE TUCSONS.
ENGINE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING ON HIGH WAY. SUDDEN POWER LOSS, JERKING, AND LOUD KNOCKING NOISES. LUCKILY WE MANAGED TO GET OFF OF THE HIGHWAY. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THERE WAS FAINT CYCLIC NOISE BEFOREHAND, BUT NO ENGINE CHECK LIGHT OR OTHER WARNING. THE ENGINE HAS VERY LOW MILES (LESS THAN 40K MILES) AND WAS MAINTAINED PER RECOMMENDED SCHEDULE. SYMPTOMS ARE IDENTICAL TO THE THETA II ENGINE FAILURE BUT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE INCLUDED IN THE SONATA ENGINE RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN EXPLOSION AND NOTICED THAT THE SUN ROOF SHATTERED. GLASS ENTERED THE VEHICLE, BUT NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD THREE QUARTERS OF A TANK OF FUEL; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE FUEL TANK HAD A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUEL, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO REGISTER THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE TANK AND WOULD NOT EXCEED $2 WORTH OF FUEL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL INTAKE FILLER HOSE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000. *TR
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH. I HEARD A BANG COME FROM THE ENGINE AREA AND THE CAR LOST ALL POWER. ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND SMOKE WAS COMING OUT FROM FRONT OF CAR. I COASTED TO THE SHOULDER. FORTUNATELY THIS WAS EARLY SUNDAY MORNING WITH VERY LITTLE TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY. T COULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED. I GOT OUT OF CAR AND NOTICED A PUDDLE OF OIL UNDER THE CAR. I HAD THE CAR TOWED HOME. THE ENGINE HAS FAILED. THE CAR HAD REGULAR OIL CHANGES WITH SYNTHETIC OIL. 104K MILEAGE. THIS CAR USES THE 2.4 THETA ENGINE. AFTER RESEARCHING THE FAILURE, I HAVE FOUND THIS IS THE SAME ENGINE USED IN THE SONATA AND KIA SPORTAGE THAT ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ENGINE FAILURES. *TR
THE HORN ON THE 2012 HYUNDAI TUCSON IS SIGNIFICANTLY UNDER-POWERED TO THE POINT OF BEING DANGEROUSLY INEFFECTIVE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. WHILE IT TECHNICALLY WORKS, THE SOUND PRODUCED BY THE HORN IS TOO WEAK RELATIVE TO TYPICAL NOISE LEVELS IN MODERN URBAN AREAS AND WHILE DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. THE HORN, FOR PRACTICAL PURPOSES, IS INAUDIBLE WHILE DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS WHERE THE NOISE OF THE PASSING WIND AND THE DISTANCE BETWEEN CARS NECESSITATES THAT THE HORN'S VOLUME EXCEED A CERTAIN MINIMUM THRESHOLD TO BE HEARD BY OTHER DRIVERS. THE HORN IS SO WEAK THAT EVEN AT A STOP LIGHT THE DRIVER OF A CAR DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME COULDN'T HEAR THE HORN. WHEN THE STOP LIGHT TURNED GREEN THE DRIVER IN FRONT OF ME DIDN'T NOTICE IT. EVEN AFTER BLOWING MY HORN 2 - 3 TIMES, THE DRIVER WAS STILL UNAWARE OF THE LIGHT CHANGE. IT WASN'T UNTIL THE DRIVER BEHIND ME BLEW HIS HORN THAT THE DRIVER IN FRONT OF ME BECAME AWARE OF THE LIGHT CHANGE. THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF A HORN IS TO WARN OTHER NEARBY DRIVERS IN THE EVENT OF AN IMPENDING EMERGENCY. ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION, THE 2012 HYUNDAI TUCSON'S HORN FAILED TO FULFILL ITS PURPOSE. FORTUNATELY, NO SERIOUS ACCIDENT HAS RESULTED UP TO THIS POINT. HOPEFULLY, THIS DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A CASE IN WHICH SOMEONE SUFFERS AN ACCIDENT BEFORE THE ISSUE IS FIXED. *TR
TRAVELING STRAIGHT ON INTERSTATE, SPONTANEOUSLY LOST ALL POWER TO VEHICLE AFTER A LOUD METAL CRUNCHING SOUND. HARDLY WAS ABLE TO DRIFT OUT OF INTERSTATE TRAFFIC ON TO SHOULDER OF ROAD. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN IGNITION OVER, OIL AND ENGINE CAUTION LIGHTS WERE ON. NO VISIBLE ISSUES OR LEAKS FROM ENGINE. ONE OWNER VEHICLE, TRAVELED MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES, HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE FROM DEALER SHIP WHERE PURCHASED FROM, AND ONLY HAD 70776 MILES ON A 2012 MODEL.
MY BACK CAMERA STOPS WORKING FROM TIME TO TIME SCREEN JUST BLACK WHEN IN REAR JUST USELESS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRES WERE SOY BASED AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER INITIALLY STATED THAT THEY WOULD REIMBURSE THE CONTACT FOR THE REPAIR; HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER DECIDED NOT TO ASSIST. THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING NOISE AND CAUGHT ON FIRE. IT WAS RUNNING.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE I90 THROUGH SNOQUALMIE PASS IN WASHINGTON, MOVED TO OVERTAKE ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE OVERTAKING LANE. AS I MOVED INTO THE LANE AND ACCELERATED, THE ENGINE DROPPED DOWN A GEAR AND A WHINING NOISE WAS HEARD. AT THIS POINT I HAD TOTAL LOSS OF POWER AND WAS TRAVELLING AT ~70MPH. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE CAR WAS TOWED. THERE WAS MEDIUM TRAFFIC AT THE TIME HOWEVER I WAS ON A SLIGHT DOWNHILL SO DIDN'T RAPIDLY LOSE SPEED. HYUNDAI CARPROS IN RENTON REPORTED THAT THE PISTON HAD FAILED AND HAD PUNCTURED THE ENGINE CASING.
HIGH SPEED ENGINE STALL TRAVELLING AT 90MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. A PISTON HAD BLOWN OUT OF THE SIDE OF THE ENGINE. CAR REPAIR WAS COMPLETED ON THE 1ST NOVEMBER 2016, THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TAKATA RECALL ACCIDENT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE WHEN MY CAR WAS IN MOTION ON CITY STREET
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 HYUNDAI TUCSON. WHILE PARKED, THE TRANSMISSION GEAR SELECTOR DID NOT MATCH THE INDICATED GEAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REMOVING THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE VEHICLE MOVED IN AN UNINTENDED DIRECTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IN ORDER TO START THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE WOULD HAVE TO BE DEPRESSED WHILE WIGGLING THE GEAR. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MANUEL LEVER POSITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,700.
A PANEL COVERING THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF MECHANISM DETACHED ON THE I90 WHILE TRAVELLING AT 70MPH. THE PANEL WAS NOT FOUND. THE DETACHMENT WAS AUDIBLE HEARD AS THE PANEL SWUNG AROUND AND STRUCK THE CAR. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO=ONE TRAVELING BEHIND ME AT THE TIME.
HELLO, I PURCHASED A 2012 HYUNDAI TUSCON, 2WD, AND HAD A TERRIBLE TIME IN THIS VEHICLE DURING SNOWY/WET WEATHER. I LIVE IN SILVER SPRING, MD, AND WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN SNOW ON FEBRUARY 21, 2015. THE VEHICLE SKIDDED, THE TIRES SPUN, AND THE CAR GOT STUCK SEVERAL TIMES. ALSO, THE ESC (ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL) HAD TO BE MANUALLY DISABLED IN ORDER TO KEEP FROM BEING REAR ENDED, AS THIS FUNCTIONS MORE LIKE A BRAKE--THAN A FEATURE TO DESIGNED TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR. I'M ORIGINALLY FROM CHICAGO, IL, AND AM QUITE USED TO DRIVING VEHICLES IN SNOWY CONDITIONS. THIS WAS A MOST UNUSUAL AND SCARY EXPERIENCE WITH THE TUSCON. I DID AN INTERNET SEARCH AND CAME ACROSS SEVERAL COMPLAINTS, LABELING THE STOCK TIRES ON THE TUSCON AS 'HAZARDOUS' IN SNOWY/WET CONDITIONS. APPARENTLY, OTHER DRIVERS HAVE NOTICED THESE TIRES LOSE ALL TRACTION DURING SNOWY/WET WEATHER. I'M NOT SURE IF OTHER FACTORS BESIDE THE TIRES IMPACTED THE CAR'S SCARY PERFORMANCE DURING WET/SNOWY CONDITIONS. I DID CONTACT HYUNDAI, AND THEY ASKED ME TO HAVE THE CAR INSPECTED, WHICH I DID. AFTER THAT I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE COMPANY TELLING ME THEY HAD FOUND NO PROBLEM AND THAT WAS THE END OF THE DISCUSSION. IF THE PROBLEM IS LIMITED TO THE TIRES, THEN CONSUMERS NEED TO BE MADE AWARE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASING A HYUNDAI TUSCON THAT THE TIRES STOCKED BY HYUNDAI ARE POTENTIALLY TREACHEROUS IN WET/SNOWY CONDITIONS. *TR

A POLICE AND A FIRE REPORT WERE FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
WENT TO CHRISTMAS PARADE, GOING TO CAR PRESSED REMOTE TO UNLOCK CAR AND WOULD NOT WORK. GOT IN CAR BY KEY AND FOUND THE HEADLIGHTS & WINDOWS & FLASHERS DON'T WORK. HAD TO GET RIDE HOME AND PICKED UP CAR IN MORNING. ALL ELSE IS FINE DRIVES OK. *TR
EXITING FREEWAY, DECREASING SPEED, WHEN IT FELT AS THOUGH A TIRE HAD GONE FLAT. SHIMMY AND SUDDEN LOSE OF POWER FOLLOWED. STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT. CAR HAD NO POWER, INCREASING GAS ONLY REVVED ENGINE, BUT WOULD NOT MOVE VEHICLE AT ALL. WAS ABLE TO ROLL TO THE END OF THE FREEWAY OFF-RAMP AND PULL NEAR SHOULDER. ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN, BUT SOUNDED LIKE A CEMENT MIXER FULL OF LARGE ROCKS. ONCE TRANSMISSION WAS PLACED IN NEUTRAL, IT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO ANY OTHER GEAR. ALSO REFUSED TO SHIFT INTO PARK. VEHICLE WAS FLAT-BEDDED TO DEALER. MECHANICS DETERMINED THE RIGHT TRANS-AXLE HAD SEPARATED FROM THE WHEEL WITH SPINDLE DAMAGE. INITIALLY IT WAS THOUGHT THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DAMAGED, BUT THAT MAY NOT BE THE CASE. *TR
SHIFT DOES NOT APPEAR ON DASHBOARD, TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD WHEN THIS HAPPENS. WHEN IN REVERSE, THE CAMERA DOES NOT WORK. HAVE TO SHUT CAR OFF THEN TRANSMISSION WORKS. *TR
WHEN DRIVING (AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT SPEEDS), THE MOTOR (RPM'S) SHOOTS UP, BUT THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE; IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS YIELDING, AND AS WE ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC, THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE AS IT SHOULD; AGAIN, THE RPM'S SHOOT UP, BUT THE CAR IS NOT ACCELERATING. IT IS SIMILAR TO DRIVING A STANDARD VEHICLE AND ACCELERATING AND PUSHING IN THE CLUTCH AT THE SAME TIME. THE TRANSMISSION (RPM) PROBLEM IS EXTREMELY CONCERNING TO US. WE HAD A 2010 TUCSON, WHICH WE HAD EXACTLY THE SAME ACCELERATION PROBLEMS WITH. AFTER MANY SERVICE VISITS TO YOUR DEALERSHIP, THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE ORIGINAL SERVICE VISITS WENT ON FOR A PERIOD OF SEVERAL MONTHS; AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WAS FINALLY REPLACED, WE WERE STILL EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS. WE EXPECTED THAT THIS WAS A ONE-TIME PROBLEM, AND PERHAPS WE JUST GOT A LEMON. NOW THAT WE ARE EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME ACCELERATION PROBLEM WITH THE 2012 TUCSON, WE DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR. WE KNOW FROM THE PAST EXPERIENCE THAT THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WILL NOT GO AWAY, IT WILL GET WORSE MONTH BY MONTH OVER TIME, AND THE CAR WILL HAVE TO KEEP BEING RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS/REPAIRS. THE DEALERSHIP TEST DROVE THE CAR AND DID NOT FIND THE PROBLEM, BECAUSE IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. WE ARE FORCED TO KEEP DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, KNOWING THAT IT IS NOT SAFE, AND THAT AT SOME POINT AN ACCIDENT MAY OCCUR. *TR
I PUSHED ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE AND NOTHING HAPPENED EXCEPT THE RPMS SPIKED TO AROUND 5-6K AND THE ENGINE SOUNDED AS IF I WERE IN NEUTRAL AND REVVING IT UP AGGRESSIVELY. THIS HAS SUBSEQUENTLY HAPPENED DOZENS OF TIMES WHEN TRAVELING BETWEEN 30 AND 65 MPH. IT IS SCARY, ESPECIALLY WHEN I NEED TO ACCELERATE, SAY IN A PASSING SITUATION OR WHEN TRAVELING TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. I'VE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO HYUNDAI (SHEPPARD IN EUGENE/SPRINGFIELD, OR) TWICE FOR THIS ISSUE. TODAY, MY 2012 TUCSON NEEDED A TIRE PUT BACK ON, AFTER USING A SPARE. ON ASPHALT, LEVEL GROUND, I USED THE JACK THAT CAME WITH MY VEHICLE ALIGNED AS DIRECTED, AND SLOWLY LIFTED THE CAR, DRIVER FRONT. THE SPARE TIRE CAME OFF EASILY, WITHOUT PROBLEMS. AS I ALIGNED THE TIRE TO PUT ON, THE JACK FAILED, TWISTING OUTWARDS AND COLLAPSING, TWISTING MY RIGHT WRIST BADLY. I HAD A JACK STAND UNDER THE CAR, OR I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT. HOWEVER, THE JACK STAND HAD BEEN ALIGNED FOR THE CAR WHEN THE JACK WAS LIFTING IT. BECAUSE THE JACK FAILED IT NO LONGER ALIGNED WITH THE LIFT POINT, AND PUSHED INTO THE SOFT FLOOR PLATE NEXT TO IT. THE FAILURE OF THIS JACK IS COMPLETELY HYUNDAI'S FAULT. I ALSO WORRY THAT OTHER PEOPLE COULD BE HURT BY THESE FAULTY JACKS. I HAVE SEEN OTHER REPORTS MADE ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE, NOW THAT I HAVE DONE RESEARCH. *TR

WE WERE GOING THROUGH A GREEN TRAFFIC LIGHT, WE WERE ABOUT THE 6TH CAR THROUGH THE LIGHT WHEN VEHICLE COMING OUT OF NOWHERE RAN THE RED LIGHT FROM THE CROSS STREET AT ABOUT 55MPH, DID NOT TRY TO STOP, WE SLOWED TO ALMOST A STOP AND SWERVED TO AVOID THE PERSON. I WAS HAVING MY CAR CLEANED AFTER A WEEK AT THE BEACH AND THE LITTLE PLASTIC CIRCLE THAT HOLD THE FLOOR MATS IN PLACE CAME OFF OF THE FLOOR MAT. NOW WHEN I DRIVE THE FLOOR MAT IS CONSTANTLY RIDING UP ONTO THE GAS PEDAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CAR WOULD IDLE BELOW 1000 RPM, SHUDDER AND MISFIRE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A PROBLEM.
I SHOULD START BY STATING THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE I GOT IT LAST YEAR. AT RANDOM TIMES, WHILE DRIVING, MY VEHICLE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO GO ABOVE 2500K RPMS, EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDAL FULLY DEPRESSED. THIS MAY HAPPEN WHILE I AM ON A SLOW ROAD OR, AS TODAY, WHEN I AM ON THE HIGHWAY. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE I WILL NEED TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY OR SPEED UP FOR SOME OTHER REASON AND SUDDENLY I HAVE NO POWER. I WILL BE GOING 30MPH AND ENTERING A 70MPH ROADWAY. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THIS IS TO PULL OVER, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF, AND THEN TURN IT BACK ON. ON DECEMBER 31, 2012, WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND REPORTED THAT WE HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL INSTANCES OF SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION (SUA) (I.E., THE RPM RACED UP TO 4,000 RPMS WHEN AT IDLE AND ACCELERATOR WAS NOT PRESSED). THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE/VERIFY CONCERN. ON NOVEMBER 10, 2013, AGAIN WE EXPRESSED THE DEALERSHIP THE SAME CONCERN; HOWEVER, WE RECEIVED THE SAME RESPONSE AS ON DECEMBER 31, 2012. THROUGHOUT THIS YEAR WE HAVE EXPERIENCED SUA SEVERAL TIMES, THE MOST RECENT ONE LAST NIGHT, WHEN WHILE IN MOTION THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED ITS RPM. WHEN STEPPING ON THE BRAKES THEY MAKE A LOT OF NOISE AND WHEN GOING DOWN A INCLINE/HILL I HAVE TO PUSH THE BRAKES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER SHIP CLOSE TO MY HOME AND WENT ON A TEST DRIVE WITH THEM AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NORMAL. I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE OUTCOME SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER SHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE (1 HR FROM WHERE I LIVE), THEY WENT ON A TEST DRIVE HEARD THE NOISE, CHECKED THE BRAKES, AND SAID THAT THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN I GOT THE CAR BACK AFTER THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED, IT'S STILL MAKING THE NOISE, AND I STILL HAVE THE BRAKING PROBLEM. TOOK IT BACK AND NOW THEY'RE SAYING THAT IT'S A NORMAL BRAKING SOUND. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER SHIP, THEY WENT ON A TEST DRIVE WITH THE PERSON WHO BOUGHT THE CAR IN FOR ME AND HEARD THE NOISE. HE LOOKED AT IT AND THERE WERE SCREWS MISSING FROM THE ROTORS ALSO HE SAID THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE CUT. I CALLED THE NEXT DAY, SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE ADVISOR WHO WAS HANDLING THE PAPER WORK, INFORMED HIM THAT THE NOISE WAS STILL THERE, HE TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT CUT THE ROTORS, BECAUSE THEY WERE PLACE BY ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. I TOLD HIM THE PROBLEM IS STILL NOT FIXED, HE TOLD ME TO BRING IT BACK ON SATURDAY, I DID. ONE OF THE TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE IT I WAS NOT THERE, AND SAID HE HEARD NOTHING. I AM STILL HAVING THE SAME BRAKING PROBLEM. THEY REFUSED TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE BRAKES OR DO ANY WORK TO IT. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 700 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 950.

TOOK CAR TO HYUNDAI SERVICE AND TOLD THEM OF SYMPTOMS AND MY CONCERNS OF SOMETHING NOT RIGHT WITH THE CAR. THE MECHANICS FELT THE PROBLEMS I EXPLAINED ABOVE AND SAID SOMETHING WAS WRONG, NOW HAD TO FIGURE OUT WHAT EXACTLY. SEVERAL TESTS WERE DONE ON THE CAR BUT NOTHING SHOWED UP ON ELECTRICAL GRID. SERVICE HAD TO CALL A HIGHER TECH OUT IN CALIFORNIA TO SEE WHAT TO DO NEXT. CALIFORNIA TECH MADE THEM RUN SEVERAL TESTS, ALL THIS TOOK MORE THEN 2 WEEKS UNTIL THEY FINALLY FIGURED OUT THAT THE ENGINES THROTTLE ASSY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THEY SAID THAT THIS ALSO CAUSED THE SENSOR TO MALFUNCTION. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE ASSY AND CLAIM THE CAR IS REPAIRED. NO LONGER TRUST CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE ELECTRICAL AND ENGINE DEFECTS THAT WHERE FOUND AFTER THE ORIGINAL INSPECTIONS BY THE MANUFACTURE AND THE DEALERSHIP FAILED TO FIND THESE DEFECTS WITH THE CAR AND SOLD IT. *TR
