It has randomly stopped working, I wasnt in any accidents. One day it just stopped. This could easily cause an accident, if I was driving with kids and needed the extra warning. Or if I couldn't see.
My camera and backup system have not been working correctly since early March of 2024. It has been in service seven times since then, at two different dealers and no service department has been able to fix the problem. There were no warning signs at all, the camera and backup just stopped working. It has been fixed 7 times and each time it has worked leaving the dealership from six through ten days. Occasionally it has gone out, comes back on, but never lasts for more than a day or two. I have notified Hyundai Corporation and have been working with a customer service representative but she has not been able to be terribly helpful. Hyundai tells the service department what parts to order, they do, but the problem has never been fixed successfully. The vehicle has been examined and fixed by two Hyundai service departments. I hit a pole in the West Palm Beach Airport, my camera and back up system were not working, the pole was below the view of the mirrors and it resulted in 2000.00 worth of damage which I paid for out of pocket. The date of this incident was March 23, 2025. I did not call the police as it did not involve another car so technically I guess it was an incident rather than an accident. I do not feel safe driving this car, especially during evening hours.
The car slammed on it's brakes on the off ramp even though I had plenty of time to slow down. It came to a full stop before it let me accelerate again and I almost got rear ended.
While driving 70mph on the freeway, the car’s emergency braking assistance activated twice for no apparent reason. This is very dangerous at such high speeds and could result in a serious accident if cars are following close behind. This car has not been inspected for this issue. A google search of this issue revealed many similar complaints that have not been addressed or taken seriously. A possible related warning message about “blocked forward safety” has appeared a few times in the last week.
Vehicle was parked for an hour facing south. When vehicle was started, forward safety and blind spot monitoring warnings came on and many other systems tied to forward camera were disengaged. Mileage: 123k. Power steering was unresponsive and brakes felt spongy. Disconnected battery and let sit for a day. Reconnected and issue went away. A week later, was parked at hospital facing south for 4 hours. Issue came back, this time disconnecting battery did not fix issue. Dealer currently has the vehicle and they are claiming it shows rear end damage even though the car hasn’t been in an accident since I was rear ended and car was repaired. Dealer reported over 80 body codes including blind spot monitoring radar.
Warning lights and messages for the Blind Spot Safety System and Rear Cross Traffic Safety System appear in driver information display. Those systems failed to function. Took to dealer for diagnosis/repair. After dealership working on vehicle both systems fail to function.
The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited Edition. The contact stated that while driving at 25 MPH, he lost consciousness and crashed into a swing, curb, vehicle, fence, and pole where the vehicle came to a stop. The contact stated the automatic braking and collision mitigation braking system failed to engage. The contact was provided with medical attention. A police report was filed. There was no reported fire. The air bags were deployed. The vehicle was towed to a vehicle wreck auction site. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, who opened a case and informed him the system was working as designed and only recognized people. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000. The VIN was not available.
Sudden braking / collision warning. Approximately 10 times in reverse at a very low speed. 2 times in forward Drive (once at a very low speed & once at approximately 30 mph). Dash constantly alternates between warnings for Uneven Roads Ahead and Slippery Roads Ahead. I took it to Brookshire Hyundai service on 7/19/23. I was told that Hyundai is aware of the problem but doesn’t know how to fix it so just take my car home and check back to see if they have a fix in a month or so.
Driving on highway long distance on sunny days the radar becomes blocked disabling critical forward safety functions and cruise control. Numerous times this has caused a near collision due to the automobile malfunctioning. Many times my cruise control has just stopped working and my vehicle has rapidly decreasing speed, causing people behind me to have to slam on their brakes. My vehicle has also automatically braked on the highway when there was no one in front of me. these are just two incidences that have nearly resulted in collisions on the highway. This has been occurring since I purchased the vehicle in September 2022. Unfortunately, dealership has not been able to duplicate what has occurred.
I was pulling out of a parking lot when my auto-braking activated. There was absolutely nothing anywhere around my car. I was entering a 2 lane road with zero traffic on it at that moment. When I pressed the gas pedal the brakes stayed locked. I quickly pressed the brake pedal at which time it released the brakes. I was then able to accelerate freely.
The automatic emergency braking has numerous false alerts, several times each day. The problem seems to be worse when a vehicle travelling the same direction in a different lane slows. The problem also appears when the Tucson's own shadow shifts directly in front of the car near sunrise and sunset when longer shadows are present. The car will brake hard though there is no risk of forward collision. This creates a danger as vehicles behind my own cannot anticipate this sudden hard braking, thus increasing the risk of a rear end collision.
I bough my new suv around 4 to 5 months ago. Since i bought it and this only happened about 3 times. I was on highway and with no cars on the highway and myself going 70 the collision in the front came on and emergency breaking saying im about to hit something. But nothing was there. This also happened when i reversed too. The brakes would slam on saying collision. Also when im driving in a straight line the lane detection moves me in the middle of the road to the white lines are under my car and i am driving on 2 lanes. It keeps trying to move me over to other lane even though im in the correct lane. I have almost got into like 7 accidents. I already brought my car to the dealer and they told me there is no fix for that. I am not the first to come in saying the same thing.
