TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI VELOSTER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE PANORAMIC SUN ROOF EXPLODED AND THE SHATTERED GLASS PIECES DAMAGED THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH A CASE NUMBER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 438. UPDATED 03/01/17*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE SUN ROOF WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER DECLINED TO REPAIR THE DAMAGES TO THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 09/15/2017*JS
THE RPM'S REV TO 6500, BUT THE CAR DOES NOT MOVE. WHEN TRYING TO ENTER THE EXPRESS WAY CAR DOES NOT SHIFT RIGHT, RPM REVS TO 6500, AND DOES NOT SHIFT TO THE NEXT GEAR. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE WHEN ENTERING ANY HIGHWAY. THE CAR CAN'T EVEN PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE GOING 40MPH. DEALER SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG!!! ALSO WHEN TURNING A CORNER VEHICLE HESITATES TO ACCELERATE, THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS VEHICLE, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WHEN I DRIVE IT. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE ELECTRONIC SHIFTING MODULE I THINK. I HOPE THAT THIS COMPLAINT WILL LET OTHERS KNOW THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS ACCELERATION ISSUES. THE DEALER TOLD ME ON MY LAST VISIT THE EVERYONE COMPLAINS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE.
THE DCT TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF GEAR AND OVER REVS CONSTANTLY. WHEN YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE THE CAR WILL SHIFT GEARS AND USUALLY DURING THE 2ND TO 3RD GEAR SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION MISSING AND YOUR RPMS SHOOT. ONCE REVS COME DOWN THE CAR SLIPS INTO GEAR. VERY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC BECAUSE YOU CAN PULL OUT OF A DRIVEWAY OR ENTER A ROAD AND THEN NO POWER BECAUSE THE GEAR SLIPPED. DEALERS WAS INFORMED AND AN UPDATE WAS APPLIED TO THE ECU. WORKED FOR A SHORT PERIOD AND NOW CAR DOES IT AGAIN.
WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR IN TRAFFIC WITH THE FOOT ON THE BREAK WHEN YOU RELEASE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BREAK THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD - MUST BE SOMETHING WITH THE NEW DUAL CLUTCH 7-SPEED TRANSMISSION. PLEASE HYUNDAI FIX THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HYUNDAI VELOSTER. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT FROM THE NEUTRAL POSITION. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT NOTICED A FUEL ODOR AND NOTICED FUEL LEAKING FROM THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO RICK CASE HYUNDAI (3550 WESTON RD, DAVIE, FL, (954) 994-2397) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
CAR SOMETIMES ACCELERATES BY ITSELF EVEN WHEN OFF THE GAS AND ON THE BRAKES. LUNGES IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. PASSING GEAR SOMETIMES REVS UP TO 6500RPM'S BUT STAYS IN THE CURRENT SPEED. SOMETIMES CAR STAYS AT A CERTAIN RPM EVEN IF NOT ON THE GAS AND WONT SLOW DOWN. BAD LAG AND TERRIBLE DEAD SPOTS IN ACCELERATION. I FEEL LIKE TRANSMISSION IS NOT COMMUNICATING WELL WITH CONTROL MODULE AND GAS PEDAL POSITION SENSOR IS WAY OFF THE MARK. CAR HAS PUT ME IN LIFE THREATENING SITUATIONS BUT HYUNDAI SERVICE SAYS THEY CANT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM BUT ONLY DROVE IT 7 MILES. I BOUGHT CAR BRAND NEW AND JUST TURNED 5800 MILES BUT HAS BEEN BACK FOR THIS PROBLEM 4 TIMES NOW.

THE VEHICLE HAS FAILED TO PERFORM MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. TAKE OFF FROM A LIGHT AND ABOUT 3RD GEAR THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE BUT RPMS WILL RISE AND WILL GO ALL THE WAY TO RED LINE, FOOT ON GAS PEDAL BUT NO CORRELATING ACCELERATION, KICKS IN MOMENT LATER WITH A JERK. CAR HAS HAD TWO DCT UPDATES, ONE ENGINE UPDATE ALL HAVE NOT FIXED THE JERK ACCELERATION AND SPORADIC UNABLENESS TO GET VEHICLE GOING BUT RPMS RISE. CAR HAS GOTTEN STUCK IN GEAR WHEN MERGING ONTO FREEWAY, THE CAR HAS HAD ITS RPMS RISE CONTINUOUS TO RED LINE WHILE FOOT WAS ENTIRELY OFF THE GAS PEDAL THEN RPMS FELL AND ACCELERATION FUCNTION RESUMED. NO REAL HELP FROM HYUNDAI AS OF YET OR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF A PROBLEM. ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THEM SINCE 2016. THIS ISSUE HAS ALSO OCCURED ON HIGHWAYS WHILE IN A HIGHER GEAR AS WELL AS INTERSECTIONS AT LOWER GEAR. GEARS SHIFT EFFORLTESSLY AND SMOOTH SOMEDAYS AND ERADICT AND UNRELIABLE OTHER DAYS. ALSO HAS FAILED TO ACCELERATE AFTER RED LIGHT RIGHT TURNS THAT COULD CLEARLY BE MADE, HOWEVER WHEN THE VEHICLE GETS STUCK AND WONT ACCELERATE THE RISK OF GETTING HIT OR REAR ENDED IS OF HIGH PROBABLILITY AND CONCERN. ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WILL HAPPEN. ISSUE OCCURS SPORADICALLY (AVG COUPLE TIMES A MONTH) SINCE JUNE 2016 WHICH MAKES IT HARD TO DUPLICATE BUT IT OCCURS AND IS WITHOUT A DOUBT A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE CAR IS NOT FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. PROUD MILITARY FAMILY IN THIS OUR SOLE VEHICLE, WHICH IS NOT GETTING THE ATTENTION IT NEEDS FROM HYUNDAI IN REGARDS TO THIS MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. CANT BELIEVE THEY KEEP SENDING US OFF IN THIS DEATH TRAP SAYING THEY UPDATED IT AND IT SHOULD FIX OUR ISSUE. THEY ARE AWARE AND THEY DO NOTHING TO MAKE PROGRESS ON THIS ISSUE OR ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THE FAMILIES IN THEIR VEHICHLES WHEN THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE HAS PRESENTED ITSELF IN OTHERS VELOSTERS AS WELL.
RECENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUES FOR THE 2016 TUCSON DCT. MY 2016 VELOSTER TURBO DCT HAS HAD THE IDENTICAL ISSUES, WHICH BEGAN JUST A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR BRAND NEW. IT'S BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP FOR 5 MONTHS NOW, TOTALING OVER 70 DAYS. THERE HAVE BEEN GAS ISSUES - GAS FUMES SMELL OUTSIDE AND INSIDE VEHICLE, LOSING GAS ABNORMALLY FAST WHEN DRIVING, GAS TANK NOT FILLING TO FULL. THE AC RATTLES INTERMITTENTLY AND HAS BLOWN HEAT OFF AND ON. MOST IMPORTANTLY IS THE SAFETY REGARDING THE 7 SPEED DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. IT IS INTERMITTENT, BUT I HAVE CAPTURED IT ON CAMERA THREE TIMES - ONCE PRIOR TO THE TRANSMISSION PARTS BEING REPLACED, AND THEN THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. AND TWICE AFTER THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. JUST LAST FRIDAY, I COULDN'T DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT SEIZED TO SHIFT AND ACCELERATE PROPERLY FIVE TIMES IN A ROW, THE MOST IT HAS EVER HAPPENED. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS PLACED BACK INTO A RENTAL. TODAY, THE DEALERSHIP SAYS "THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG" (THIS HAS BEEN SAID OVER THE COURSE OF 5 MONTHS BECAUSE IT'S INTERMITTENT) AND THEY'RE FORCING ME TO RETURN THE RENTAL - LEAVING ME WITH UNSAFE TRANSPORTATION YET AGAIN. I'VE RISKED MY LIFE FOR MONTHS TRYING TO CAPTURE VIDEO PROOF, AND I HAVE SENT THE VIDEO PROOF TO HYUNDAI - YET THEY ARE STILL MAKING MY RETURN THE RENTAL AND ARE NOT FIXING THE VEHICLE, NOR DO THEY HAVE A FIX FOR IT (ALREADY REPLACED THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND COMPUTER!!). MY 2016 HYUNDAI VELOSTER WILL UNLOCK RANDOMLY WHILE IT IS IN MOTION. IT MORE COMMONLY UNLOCKS AT 45MPH OR HIGHER. EVEN AFTER IT UNLOCKS IT CONTINUES TO TRY AND UNLOCK SO I AM CONSTANTLY HEARING THE CLICK IT MAKES WHEN IT UNLOCKS
FILING 2ND COMPLAINT. HUGE SAFETY ISSUES STILL OCCURRING WITH HYUNDAI'S DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. 2016 TUCSON DCT WAS RECALLED, AND STILL DID NOT RESOLVE THESE ISSUES. MY 2016 VELOSTER TURBO DCT WAS NEVER RECALLED AND HAS IDENTICAL ISSUES. MULTIPLE PARTS REPLACED FOR TRANSMISSION WHICH DID NOT RESOLVE. ENTIRE TRANSMISSION AND TCM REPLACED AND ISSUE STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN ON NEW TRANSMISSION/TCM. HYUNDAI STILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGING ISSUE OR KNOW WHAT'S WRONG/HOW TO FIX. VEHICLE HAS ALREADY BEEN IN SERVICE FOR OVER 80 DAYS. HAVE 2 VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE OF ISSUE OCCURRING, AND ~8 MORE VIDEOS OF ISSUE HAPPENING THAT I HAVE NOT UPLOADED. EVERYONE BEING TURNED AWAY BECAUSE THE ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT AND HYUNDAI "DOESN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG/'WORKING AS DESIGNED'". RISKING CAR ACCIDENT HAVING TO DRIVE IT EVERY DAY. VEHICLE PURCHASED IN OCTOBER 2015. ISSUES STARTED HAPPENING IN MARCH 2016. TRANSMISSION/TCM REPLACED IN SEPTEMBER 2016. ISSUES STILL OCCURRING.
THIS BRAND NEW CAR BREAKS DOWN ON MY TEENAGER. IT HAS DONE SO ON ME AS WELL. HAD IT INTO THE DEALER AND AUTO SHOPS AND THEY CNT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS CAR LEA VES MY KID STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. NOT SAFE. GOES INTO LIMP MODE AND STALLS.
Incident Description: I purchased a 2016 Hyundai Veloster (VIN: KMHTC6ADXGU255844) in May 2025. Shortly after purchase, the vehicle began exhibiting serious mechanical issues, including engine knocking, excessive oil consumption, stalling, misfiring, and loss of power. Despite these ongoing issues, the vehicle is listed as having Recall 198 completed. However, the symptoms associated with that recall continued and progressively worsened. The vehicle ultimately stalled in traffic while I was making a turn, resulting in an accident. In a separate incident, after exiting the vehicle and believing it to be in PARK, the vehicle moved unexpectedly and ran over me, causing serious physical injuries including fractures. Prior to these incidents, the vehicle had ongoing mechanical issues that were not properly resolved. The vehicle also required repeated jump-starts and became unreliable to operate. Additionally, there are discrepancies in the service records. The vehicle was towed to a dealership on or about June 8, 2025 and remained there until approximately July 15, 2025. However, the documentation provided reflects only a limited number of service days and consolidates multiple visits into a single summary. Due to these inconsistencies and the continued presence of failure symptoms, I am unable to verify that recall-related repairs were properly performed. These incidents raise serious concerns about engine failure and possible unintended vehicle movement, both of which present significant safety risks.
