NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2012 Infiniti G37. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
The contact owns a 2012 Infiniti G37. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated, and the message "Seat Belt Off" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where DTC code: B1018 was retrieved. The dealer determined that the passenger's side seat occupant classification system sensor and module diagnostic unit had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The dealer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 178,789.
I purchased this vehicle, 2012 Infiniti G 37XS in September 2023. The vehicle was basically brand new with less than 2200 miles on it and I have driven it very little up to that point, October 2024, as it is not my primary vehicle. Around [XXX], I believe it was around 8100 miles and change on the vehicle, a warning light came on my dash regarding my passenger airbag. Since that date, I have worked with Plaza Infiniti in Creve Coeur, who has looked at the vehicle a few times and identified that there is no part replacement other than OEM that can fix this issue. However, the part has been discontinued. Today, I reached out to Infiniti directly, and with a sad heart, they refuse to even listen to me. Now, I have a vehicle that has a safety issue and no way to fix it. The part number 87300–1NL6A, is the lower seat assembly for the passenger side of my 2012 Infiniti G 37XS. This part also has the occupant sensor which is directly affecting the airbag. The sensor is not replaceable separately of the lower seat assembly. This car odometer is rolled back about 100,000 miles and I hope I am reporting this at the right place. I went to purchase this vehicle and seller paperwork doesn’t match up with vehicle.
I just purchased a 2012 Infiniti G37 and love the car. Once I drove off the car lot I noticed the dashboard was extremely sticky and shiny and appears to be melting. Every time the dash gets in the sun and heat it gets worse. It causes a glare on the windshield that is blinding. I'm afraid the blind spots are going to cause me to hit a person or another car. I contacted Infiniti and they said there is nothing they can do since the car is out of warranty. What can Infiniti do to resolve this dangerous situation?
Air bag alert warning light and this 2012 infiniti g37 and it should be added to the recall list
Sunroof drains get clogged and have to repeatedly cleaned out by dealer causing a LOT of water damage and possibly damage to the body control module
Sun roof drains are defective and are leaking puddles of water inside passenger & driver side of vehicle .
Passenger Side Air Bag sensor flashes possibility due to faulty sensor in passenger seat. Water enters cabin on passenger side causing water to pool on floorboards, possibly causing electrical damage and failure. Water entering could be due to flawed design in water channel or sunroof.
I’ve owned this 2012 g37 for a few years and had no issues whatsoever. However within the last couple of months, my air bag light came on and has been flashing since. I’ve taken it to get inspected and had the system checked and was told my passenger seat occupant sensor malfunctioned and is throwing the code on. The sensor itself, very easily replaced, is unable to be bought by itself. Repairs by the dealership is well over 5,000 for the seat and labor. The sensor is being sold as a component part of the bottom build of the seat, and cannot be sold otherwise. The issue with the sensor not being active, prevents the activation of the passenger airbag regardless of the seat being occupied or not. My concerns are that I won’t be able to safely commute with passengers on the road and also being able to pass state inspection, as needed per law per state. Without this sensor, driving is an everyday peril, a safety concern a driver has no control over with other vehicles on the road. There has not been any prior incidents that have occurred that could cause this electronic issue.
There is a leak on the driver side down the front A-pillar. Water runs over the electrical components, fuse box, BCM. I’ve researched on the internet and this is an extremely common problem. If this component gets wet, the car could shut off while driving. Maybe there is a danger with being electrocuted as well. This is a design flaw and potential safety issue in the 2012 Infiniti G37, and it’s happening fairly often as seen with similar issues from other owners. Do I have to worry about this with my two kids in the car? Why hasn’t this been addressed by the manufacturer with the commonality of the problem? I had a similar issue on the passenger side. However, I was not worried about safety as the electrical components are not on that side. There is not the same risk for electrocution or car stoppage while driving. Nonetheless, it is still an extremely common problem and failure of engineering on the manufacturers part. Now I am dealing with the same issue on the drivers side where the electrical components come into play.
If you search the internet, you'll see that there's a large problem with the sunroof drainage in this car dumping water into the cabin, into the glove box and down the right kick panel, which is where the bcm unit sits, and then dumps down the rocker panel where all the electrical wiring runs.
I first noticed this problem on August 15, 2022. The front Passenger Airbag Off Light on the dashboard is always illuminated when the car is started, with or without any occupant on the seat, which would indicate that the airbag in non-operational and will not deploy when needed. At the same time, the Supplemental Air Bag Warning Light in the instrument panel is flashing. I have not brought my car to the dealer or any repair shop for inspection or repair. I just noticed similar complaints from other people in the internet for the same model year car and that the repair cost being qouted to them is upwards of $6000.00. I am also aware of an on going recall of other Infiniti models for a faulty Occupant Classification Sensor.
The contact owns a 2012 Infiniti G37. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle burst into flames in the front area of the vehicle. As a result, the front of the vehicle was severely burned and two parked vehicles nearby were damaged due to the fire. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire on all the vehicles. The contact did not suffer any injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Hello I am not happy with the tires the discount tire salesman keep selling me. The first time I bought Road hugger tires they looked like the picture that I attached. Then the sales man put me 2 front Road Huggers tires again in February 2021. Now my dealership is telling me last week .FRONT TIRES ARE WORN EXCESSILY ON THE INSIDE EDGES AND RUBBER IS STARTING TO PEEL OF TIRE. I don't have money to keep replacing. Is there a recall on those tires. I feel like discount tires has been stealing my money for 2 years. I want to file a complaint Tire size225 55 r17 95v
My air bag sensor on the dash came on, so I took it to the dealer. The dealer told me that my air bag sense is not working and that I would have to replace the entire seat for 9,000 dollars to fix. My car is a 2012 and is worth ~ 12,000 dollars. So obviously I cannot not have them replace seat. I started researching if there was an alternative fix and found this is a very common issue with Nissan and Infinity on numerous makes and models, there are hundreds of posts where this is happening to owners of infinity and Nissan….so why has this not been recalled as a safety issue? I can no longer have a passenger in my car. But my guess is there are lives being put at risk daily due to the sensor failure. This is extremely disappointing that this is how Nissan and Infinity support the customers, our lives are at risk. Please consider looking into this as a safety recall for the hundreds of us that cannot invest in a 9,000 dollar seat to protect our lives.
The Seat sensor fails to detect passenger and does not activate the airbags even if a passenger is seated.
On June 4 I pulled into a drive to turn the car around and park. I stopped the car, put it into reverse, and pressed the gas pedal;. The car stalled and I pressed the gas pedal again with the regular force. Suddenly the car accelerated and I felt a jerk and heard a bang as it hit a car that was just backing out of the driveway cross from min. My car was going so quickly that the other driver commented on the speed it was going. My car incurred considerable damage, the rebar was damaged, and I took the car int "collision" for repair. At Collision, I was told by 2 people that Mini had a problem with acceleration. Priori to the accident, my car occasionally stalled when I was backing it out of the garage. I have since been told that this "stalling" or "stumbling" was a signal that there was a defect that could have been fixed.
THE COOLING SYSTEM IN THIS VEHICLE HAS A TWO PART PERFORMED HOSE THAT CONNECTS THE ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM TO THE CABIN HEAT EXCHANGER. THE TWO PARTS ARE CONNECTED WITH A PLASTIC JUNCTION WITH TWO SPRING CLAMPS. THIS VEHICLE HAS APPROX 85K MILES AND STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL COOLANT. THIS JUNCTION DISINTEGRATED. IT APPEARS TO NOT BE COMPATIBLE WITH THE COOLANT. IT DELAMINATED AND SHEARED. LUCKILY IT BROKE WHILE STOPPED IN THE GARAGE. IF IT HAD HAPPENED AT HIGH SPEED IT WOULD HAVE SPEWED THE COOLANT AT THE REAR OF THE ENGINE, AND AT LEAST SOME OF IT WOULD HAVE GONE TO THE WINDSHIELD, OBSTRUCTING THE VIEW. I HAVE SAVED THE DISINTEGRATED PART.*DT*JB
THERE IS A WATER LEAK RAGE FROM THE SUNROOF. MY CAR GETS SOAKED IN WATER AND IT'S NOT PREVENTABLE. CREATES A SMELL AND MOLD
THE AIR BAG SENSOR ON THE PASSENGER SEAT HAS FAILED AND THE PASSENGER SEAT DOES NOT RECOGNIZE EVEN AN ADULT PERSON SITTING ON IT. AS A RESULT THE AIRBAG-OFF LIGHT FOR THE PASSENGER IS ALWAYS ON AND I AM AFRAID IF THE REST OF THE AIRBAGS ARE WORKING PROPERLY DUE TO THIS FAULTY SENSOR. I LOOKED UP ONLINE AFTER MY SENSOR FAILED AND IT SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR G37 VEHICLES. NISSAN SEEMS TO HAVE ALEADY HAD A RECALL FOR FAULTY AIRBAG SENSORS FOR MODEL YEAR 2007-2008 BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THE ISSUE HASN'T BEEN COMPLETELY RESOLVED IN VEHICLES FROM SUBSEQUENT MODEL YEARS TOO.
The contact owns a 2012 Infiniti G37. The contact stated that puddles of water were present on both the front passenger’s and driver’s side floorboard due to condensation and moisture from rainwater entering the vehicle. The contact was concerned that moisture would create mold and an electrical shock hazard inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the sunroof drainage system was clogged and needed to either be cleaned or replaced. The failure was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 130,000.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ON 2012 G37 CONVERTIBLE WITH ONLY 46,000 MI. INFINITY SERVICE FOUND CODE B1018 OCCUPANT SENSOR FAILURE PASSENGER SEAT. QUOTED COST OF REPAIR AT $7200 TO REPLACE SEAT BASE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN DEFECT WHEN CANNOT REPLACE A SENSOR WITHOUT REPLACING THE WHOLE BASE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SENSOR DEFECT WHEN YOU SEE THE NUMBERS THAT HAVE REPORTED THIS FAILURE (IMAGINE THE NUMBER THAT DID NOT REPORT) THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL AND. COVERED BY INFINITY. $7200 TO REPAIR A FAILED SENSOR IS UNREASONABLE.
Passenger side airbag flashes often
The air bag sensor on the passenger seat has failed and the passenger seat does not recognize even an adult person sitting on it. As a result the airbag-off light for the passenger is always on and I am afraid if the rest of the airbags are working properly due to this faulty sensor. I looked up online after my sensor failed and it seems like this is a common issue for G37 vehicles. The only option to fix the problem is to replace the entire seat at a cost of anywhere from $6,500 to $8,500. My wife is afraid to ride in the car with me for fear the airbag will not deploy. There was no warning prior to the light flashing on the dash.
FAULTY PASSENGER AIRBAG SENSOR. INFINITI IS AWARE OF THE PREVALENT PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IS DEACTIVATED EVEN WITH ADULT PASSENGERS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE INFINITI DEALER FOR REPAIR AND THEY SAID IT WOULD COST $9,000.00 TO REPAIR. THIS IS AN OUTRAGE AND SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME ISSUE.
2012 INFINITE G37X. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR NOT OPENING. *AS THE CONSUMER STATED HE NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE. *JS
SITTING IN DRIVEWAY I STARTED THE CAR AND SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR NO REASON. I HAVE SPOKEN TO MULTIPLE PEOPLE AND THEY ALL SEEM TO HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FIX AS IT PUTS PEOPLE IN DANGER.
G37 2012' INFINITI JOURNEY COUPE. VIN. # [XXX] MY AIR BAG LIGHT ON MY DASH BOARD, INDICATED THAT MY PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG HAS BEEN DISABLED. CHECK IF THERE'S A FIX! ,,,,IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT IT MUST BE BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALER TO CHECK OUT! SERVICE CHG. $150. IF IT MUST BE REPAIRED THE COST TO REPAIR THE ISSUE...A CHG. TO REPAIR & REPLACE THE CONTROLLER & FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WOULD BE IN EXCESS OF $6,000. I'VE CHECKED ON LINE COMPLAINTS & MANY OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE!...TO NO AVAIL! SAFETY SHOULD BE THE ISSUE, ESPECIALLY FOR THE ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH 'FAULTY AIR BAGS' CAUSING SOME VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENTS? MIGHT BE A TAKATA AIR BAG ISSUE? CAN YOU HELP. 2012 INFINITI G37 35000 MILES. DISPLAYS FLASHING PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WHENEVER THE IGNITION IS ON, AND THE "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT ILLUMINATES CONTINUOUSLY EVEN WITH ADULT IN PASSENGER SEAT. LOCAL INFINITI DEALER TROUBLESHOOT AND INDICATED THAT TO FIX THE BAD PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR THE ENTIRE SEAT WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF $8K. I APPEALED DIRECTLY TO INFINITI CONSUMER AFFAIRS; THEY DECLINED TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE AS THE VEHICLE WAS BEYOND THE WARRANTY TIME PERIOD. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW--CUSTOMERS SHOULD NOT BE FACED WITH THE CHOICE OF EITHER BEARING THE EXTREME COST OF POOR ENGINEERING OR PUTTING PASSENGERS AT RISK.*DT*JB
INFINITI G37 CONVERTIBLE YEAR 2012, WITH 11,400 MILES (SECONDARY CAR VERY LOW MILES) DISPLAYED PASSENGER AIRBAG ERROR/WILL NOT DEPLOY AIRBAG IN A CRASH. THE CAR WAS STARTED AND THE DISPLAY LIGHT NEVER WENT OFF AND HAS STAY ON EVERY SINCE WHILE DRIVING. TOOK THE CAR TO WESTHOUSTON INFINITI SERVICE ONE WEEK LATER AND WAS TOLD A SENSOR WAS BAD AND THAT THE ENTIRE SEAT WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT AT A COST OF 6K (MY SEAT IS ALMOST BRAND NEW). I QUESTIONED WHY I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR WHAT IS SURLY A DESIGN FLAW AND THE PRICE IS OUTRAGEOUS. I DECLINE AS THAT PRICE WAS NOT DOABLE AND CONTACTED INFINITI CONSUMER AFFAIRS WHO LISTEN TO STATE ISSUE AND SENT AN EMAIL THAT NO ASSISTANCE WOULD BE GIVEN DUE TO WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE AN ENTIRE SEAT FOR A SENSOR. I'M TRYING TO UNDERSTAND WHY THIS IS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY AS I KNOW OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. MY FIRM POSITION IS NO CAR COMPANY SHOULD BE ALLOW TO REQUIRE CONSUMERS TO BARE THE BURDEN OF POOR ENGINEERING.
MY CAR HAS A LIGHT ON WHICH REFERS TO THE PASSENGER AIRBAG.
THE SUN ROOF LEAKS WATER UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER AND REAR PASSENGER MAT
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND WOULD NOT ENTER 3RD OR 4TH GEAR. WHEN I BROUGHT IT INTO THE RETAILER THEY SAID I NEEDED TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY REPLACED AT A COST OF $3000. THE CAR ONLY HAS 55,000 MILES ON IT. WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2012 INFINITI G37. ON MAY 23, 2019, WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE CONTACT PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE AT THE POST OFFICE. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED, DROVE OVER A CEMENT BARRIER, AND CRASHED INTO THE BUILDING. ON JULY 3, 2019, WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE CONTACT SLOWED DOWN TO PARK. ONCE AGAIN, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED, DROVE OVER A CURB, AND CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF A BUILDING. DURING BOTH FAILURES, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. POLICE REPORTS WERE NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME AND DEEMED TOTALED BY THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY AFTER THE LAST CRASH. THE CONTACT CALLED INFINITY OF LYNNWOOD (17305 HWY 99, LYNNWOOD, WA 98037, (425) 409-6274) AND WAS ADVISED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THEM FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000. *BF *TR
MY PASSENGER SEAT WEIGHT SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING GOING ON AND OFF AT VARIOUS TIMES INTO THE DRIVE AND VARIOUS WEIGHTED PASSENGERS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON MY 2012 G37 SPORT AND THE SEAT (SENSOR CANNOT BE CHANGED OUT SO HAVE TO BUY THE WHOLE SEAT) RANGES BETWEEN $5000 AND $8000. THIS SEEMS TO ME TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE, WHAT WERE TO HAPPEN IF ANY ONE OF US HAVING THIS ISSUE WERE TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT WITH A PASSENGER? FROM WHAT IVE READ THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WILL NOT GO OFF WITH THIS LIGHT ON SO THEREFORE MY PASSENGERS SAFETY IS AT RISK BECAUSE OF A VERY COMMON ISSUE FROM INFINITY. LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF EVEN SITTING STATIONARY.
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR AIRBAG HAD TO BE REPLACED AND ALSO THE PASSENGER SEAT OCCUPANCY SENSOR IS BAD AND THE SEAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THESE ITEMS WERE DIAGNOSED AT 55,000 MILES ON THE CAR
I BROUGHT IN MY 2012 FOR MAINTENANCE AT AN INFINITI SERVICE DEALER. I RECEIVED A "NEW" BATTERY AS I WAS TOLD THE BATTERY NEEDED REPLACEMENT SOON. COME TO FIND OUT, THE "NEW" BATTERY WAS ACTUALLY A FAULTY COMPONENT AND MY CAR WOULD NOT START. I BROUGHT IT IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. I TOLD THEM THAT IT MUST BE THE BATTERY SINCE I NEVER HAD THAT ISSUE BEFORE. THE BATTERY ISSUE CONTINUED AND I WOULD HAVE TO JUMP MY CAR OFF. THE DAY I HAD TO BRING IT BACK TO INFINITI, I HAD TO JUMP OFF THE CAR AND RIGHT AFTER I DID, THE AIRBAG LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING AND CODES INDICATED A FAULTY DIAGNOSIS SENSOR UNIT FOR THE AIRBAG. THEY THEN DID THEIR DIAGNOSTICS AGAIN AND DETERMINED THAT THE BATTERY ITSELF WAS THE PROBLEM IN THE CAR-STARTING ISSUE, YET THE INFINITI BAG LIGHT CONTINUED TO BLINK. THE DEALER SAID THE COST WOULD BE $1600 TO REPLACE THE SENSOR/CONTROL UNIT. THE AIRBAG HAS NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED AND I NEVER HAD ISSUES UNTIL THE BATTERY REPLACEMENT WITH A FAULTY BATTERY AND THUS CREATING THE NEED TO JUMP START THE VEHICLE. THE LIGHT CAME ON RIGHT AFTER A JUMP START. I NEVER SAW THE LIGHT BEFORE THAT.
PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT BLINKS. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THE SEAT BOTTOM NEEDS REPLACING AS IT IS AN OCCUPANCY SENSOR FAILURE. COST FOR PART IS $6500.00. COST TO INSTALL AND RESET IS $500. THAT REPAIR IS HALF THE VALUE OF WHAT IT IS WORTH. I CALLED INFINITY'NOT UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. HAVE READ ONLINE THAT MULTIPLE OWNERS OF THESE MODELS ARE HAVING SAME ISSUE. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY-RELATED DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE.
AIRBAGS IS NOT WORKING. NISSAN DEALER IS ASKING $7,000.00 TO REPLACE IT WITH NEW ONE.
AIR BAG SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING AT ALL TIMES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 INFINITI G37. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND, BUT SPONTANEOUSLY ACCELERATED INSTEAD. THE VEHICLE JUMPED THE CURB AND CRASHED INTO A FENCE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOWED AND REMAINED AT THE CRASH SITE. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
POWER STEERING PUMP AND PASSENGER AIRBAG MALFUNCTION. MANY INFINITI OWNER HAVE OR HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I THINK CUSTOMERS DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY REPAIRS IF THERE IS A BIG DEMAND ON THESE PROBLEMS. THESE TWO PROBLEMS HAPPEN WHEN MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS PROBLEM HASN'T BEEN CALLED AS A RECALL.
BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FROM CREST INFINITI WITH REMAINDER OF WARRANTY WHICH JUST RAN OUT BUT AS I WENT TO SELL THE CAR PRIVATELY THE BUYER WAS A CAR DEALER IN NORMAN, OK WHO CAME DOWN TO PLANO, TX WITH TRAILER AND CASHIER'S CHECK. AFTER HOOKING UP TO DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE HE REFUSED TO PURCHASE DUE TO AN ISSUE WITH THE AIR BAGS AND SOMETHING ABOUT BYPASSED (REPORT ATTACHED TO COMPLAINT) AIR BAGS ISSUE. THIS CAR WAS REPRESENTED TO ME AS NEVER BEING IN AN ACCIDENT AND I NEVER HAD ONE DURING THE SHORT TIME THAT I OWNED IT. THIS IS CAUSING ME A REAL PROBLEM AS I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH TERMINAL ILLNESS AND NEED ALL THE MONEY I CAN MUSTER THROUGH THE SALE OF BELONGINGS WITH THE AUTO BEING THE DURABLE GOOD WITH THE MOST VALUE. THEY ARE NOW TELLING ME THAT IT REALLY HAS VERY LITTLE VALUE NOW BECAUSE OF THIS HORRIBLE AIR BAG REPORT. IF I HAD BOUGHT IT FROM A PRIVATE PARTY THEN CAVEAT EMPTOR WOULD CERTAINLY APPLY BUT I BOUGHT IT FROM A DEALER WITH THE REMAINDER OF WARRANTY STILL APPLYING TO VEHICLE SO 'AS IS' DOES NOT WORK HERE IN MY OPINION. ATTACHED: PICTURE OF REPORT FROM DEALERS OBD TOOL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 INFINITI G37. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS FAILED TO OPERATE AS INTENDED INTERMITTENTLY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. ON ONE OCCASION, THE CONTACT HAD TO EXIT THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS EXITED, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO LOCK THE DOOR USING THE KEY FOB OR KEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE AFFECTED ALL FOUR DOORS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SANFORD INFINITI (LOCATED AT 995 RINEHART RD, SANFORD, FL 32771, (407) 915-3826) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 35038060. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
I HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED BY THE DEALER THAT THE AIRBAG SENSOR IS 'OUT' AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $2200. THAT IS ROUGHLY 25% OF THE CAR'S VALUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 INFINITI G37. AFTER RE-CHARGING THE VEHICLE'S BATTERY, THE AIR BAG SENSOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED, WHICH WAS A SAFETY CONCERN. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER (NISSAN OF RICHMOND IN RICHMOND, VA) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
WHILE MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING ON A LOCAL NEIGHBORHOOD STREET MY INFINITI G37 IT BEGAN TO ACCELERATE EXCESSIVELY. SHE TRIED STEPPING ON THE BRAKE BUT THE CAR KEPT ACCELERATING. SHE CAME TO THE END OF THE ROAD AT AN INTERSECTION DOING ABOUT 40 MPH AND TURNED TO THE LEFT TO AVOID GOING INTO A HOUSE. IN DOING SO SHE HIT A SEWER DRAIN WITH HER RIGHT FRONT TIRE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO GO ALMOST AIRBOURNE. SHE CAME TO REST WITHOUT STRIKING THE HOUSE. THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG WENT OFF. *DSY
CAR BATTERY DRAINED WHILE CAR WAS UNOCCUPIED (IN A GARAGE) FOR TWO WEEKS. AFTER JUMPING CAR OPERATED AS NORMAL EXCEPT FOR AIRBAG LIGHT. INFINITI DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE AIRBAG DIAGNOSTIC UNIT HAD FAILED AND AIRBAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY UNTIL A $1500 REPAIR WAS DONE. DEALER NOTED THAT THE UNIT LIKELY FAILED WHEN THE BATTERY WAS AT LOW POWER OR WHEN JUMPING (JUMPED CAR EXACTLY ACCORDING TO OWNER'S MANUAL).
2012 INFINITI G37 - WHEN IT RAINS WATER LEAKS FROM THE SUNROOF TO THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. ENTIRE FLOOR MATS UNDER WATER. HAPPENS EACH TIME IT RAINS.
TAKATA RECALL: AFTER FINDING AN ODOR IN MY VEHICLE REGULARLY, I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP IN HOPES OF FINDING THE ISSUE AND RESOLVING IT. I WAS INFORMED THAT I HAVE A LEAK IN MY CAR. THE SUNROOF HAS DRAIN TO TRANSPORT WATER TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. THERE IS A FIREWALL WITH CLIPS THAT ALLOW FOR THIS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE FIREWALLS IN MY SUNROOF DRAIN HAVE FAILED CAUSING WATER TO SIT BENEATH THE CARPET OF MY CAR. THE CARPET IS SOAKED AS THE WATER HAS NO WHERE TO GO AND THE SMELL IS ALMOST UNBEARABLE. IN DOING RESEARCH AND CONSULTING WITH THE DEALERSHIP, I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS ISSUE IS NOT PREVENTABLE. THE MATERIAL SURROUNDING THE CLIPS IN MY FIREWALL HAVE WORN OUT. THE DEALERSHIP CAN REPLACE THE CLIPS AND PLACE ANOTHER SUBSTANCE ON IT TO PREVENT THE ISSUE FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. THE COST TO REPLACE THE SLIPS, CLEAN THE CARPET, AND DISINFECT WITH LABOR IS $1,200.00. THE LONGER THAT THE WATER SITS THERE, THE LONGER THE ODOR REMAINS AND THE HIGHER THE RISK OF CAUSING OTHER ISSUES AND HAVING MOLD IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THE ODOR FOR ALMOST A MONTH NOW BUT I MOST RECENTLY WAS INFORMED OF THE SPECIFICS.
