I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEAR A LOUD BOOM, AS IF A GUN WAS FIRED RIGHT BY MY EAR. I ALMOST RAN INTO ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE IT STARTLED ME SO. I PULLED OFF ONTO A MEDIAN AND INSPECTED THE CAR. I LOOKED AT MY CAR AND WHEN I LOOKED AT THE ROOF, I REALIZED THAT MY SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED. I WAS SHOCKED! I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO NOT HAVE GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT. MY SON, WHO WAS WITH ME WAS ALSO VERY SCARED. HE WAS WORRIED ABOUT THE OTHER WINDOWS EXPLODING. IT WAS VERY FRIGHTENING.
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS,THE GAS PEDAL ON THE CAR GOT STUCK IN THE DOWN POSITION CAUSING THE CAR TO ACCELERATE UNCONTROLLABLY. THE FIRST TIME WAS WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS PEDAL, IT STUCK IN THE DOWN POSITION AND I HAD TO MANUALLY DISENGAGE IT WITH MY FOOT. THE SECOND TIME ON 3/7/2015 AT 2050, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AT A STEADY SPEED OF 65 MPH WHEN THE GAS PEDAL WENT DOWN ON ITS OWN CAUSING THE CAR TO ACCELERATE TO APPROXIMATELY 85 MPH BEFORE SHE WAS ABLE TO DISENGAGE THE PEDAL. THERE WAS NOTHING UNDERNEATH THE PEDAL TO CAUSE IT TO GET STUCK EITHER TIME. MY WIFE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD BY THE GENERAL MANAGER, [XXX], THAT IT WAS PROBABLY THE RUG STUCK UNDER THE PEDAL AND THE ALL WEATHER MAT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN PUT OVER THE STANDARD MAT. THESE HAD BEEN INSTALLED BY THE DEALER AND WE EXPLAINED THAT THE MATS WERE NOT NEAR THE PEDAL. THEY FINALLY AGREED TO COME GET THE VEHICLE TO CHECK IT. WHEN THE DRIVER CAME TO PICK IT UP, HE STATED HE WAS TOLD THE MATS WERE CAUSING THE PEDAL TO GET STUCK. WE TOLD HIM THAT WAS NOT THE CASE AND WE DIDN'T THINK THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. HE TESTED THE GAS PEDAL WITH THE VEHICLE OFF AND SAID IT FELT ABNORMAL. IT HAD A CLICK MID WAY DOWN AS WELL AS A CLICK AT THE VERY BOTTOM OF THY RANGE OF THE PEDAL. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE TRAVELING ON I-95 SOUTHBOUND FROM CT TO NY WHEN OUR BRAND NEW INFINITY QX60 SIMPLY STOPPED DRIVING BETWEEN EXIT 19 AND EXIT 18 (NE11.9). THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING BUT THE CAR COULD NOT MOVE. WE USED WHATEVER MOMENTUM LEFT ON THE CAR TO MOVE TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THIS MALFUNCTION WAS A LIFE ENDANGERING MECHANICAL FAILURE SINCE WE WERE TRAVELING ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE QX60 WAS TRAVELING AT A LOW SPEED DUE TO THE TRAFFIC JAM AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE MALFUNCTIONING WAS DUE TO A FACTORY ERROR WHICH THE CLAMP OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID PIPE WAS NOT ENGAGED. AN ERROR COULD HAVE COST LIVES ON THE ROAD. *TR
SEVERAL TIMES A MONTH THIS OCCURS. FROM A STANDSTILL, I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR TO TURN INTO TRAFFIC, AND AFTER THE CAR INITIALLY MOVES FORWARD, THE CAR APPEARS TO SLIP OUT OF GEAR EVEN THOUGH IT SHOWS THAT IT'S IN DRIVE. THE ENGINE RPMS REV WITH THE ACCELERATOR PRESSED, BUT THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE OR MOVE. LIFTING UP AND RE-PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR ONLY MAKES THE TACHOMETER RPMS REV UP, BUT AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS, THE CAR POPS BACK INTO GEAR. WHEN I PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC, I COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF MY CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE AND LIES DEAD IN THE ROAD! THE DEALER CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT ONLY OCCURS A FEW TIMES A MONTH, BUT IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 12 MONTHS NOW. I ALSO SEE DOZENS OF ONLINE POSTS AND COMPLAINTS IDENTICAL TO THIS FROM OTHER QX60 OWNERS. THIS IS A SERIOUS INJURY AND DEATH RISK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 INFINITI QX60. WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND AN UPDATE NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,569.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A FULL STOP INTO A RIGHT OR A LEFT TURN, THE RPMS GO UP BUT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE. THIS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 3-4 TIMES BEFORE MY FIRST 5000 MILES. I WAS TOLD IT WAS PART OF THE ENGINE BREAK-IN PROCESS. WHEN I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR ITS 10K SERVICE, I AGAIN COMPLAINED OF THIS HAPPENING, BUT THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THE RESULTS. IT HAS HAPPENED 2X SINCE MY LAST SERVICE, ONCE WITHIN 24 HRS OF THE SERVICE AND THE OTHER AT APPROXIMATELY 14910 MILES. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR AS I'M AFRAID TO GET REAR ENDED. I HAVE FOUND AT LEAST 3 OTHER REPORTED INCIDENCES OF THIS BY OTHERS ONLINE AND THE DEALERS DON'T SEEM TO BE DOING ANYTHING TO RECTIFY THE ISSUE. I AM ALSO HAVING THE SAME ISSUES AS OTHERS REGARDING THE AIR BAG LIGHT GOING ON AND OFF AT RANDOM.
IN THE FIRST COUPLE OF WEEKS OF OWNING THE INFINITI QX60 WE NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF LIGHT STAYS ON FROM 10 MINUTES TO AN HOUR WITH AN ADULT SITTING IN THE SEAT. I CALLED THE DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR AN APPOINTMENT AND SINCE THERE "WASN'T A BIG CONCERN" GAVE ME AN APPOINTMENT A WEEK LATER. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND INFORMED THEM OF THE SITUATION. THEY SAID THAT THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. "ALL AIR BAGS WORKED AS DESIGNED". PERFORMED A HARD RESET ON PASSENGER OC SENSOR. WE GOT HALF WAY HOME AND AFTER SHOPPING, THE LIGHT STAYED ON AGAIN WITH A PASSENGER SEATED. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT ALL WAS FINE AND NOT A DANGER. *TR
THE 2014 INFINITI QX60 SHUDDERS (OR BUCKS) MODERATELY TO SEVERELY AFTER RE-APPLYING THE GAS AFTER CRUISING/ROLLING AT 20 MPH WITH RPM AT APPROXIMATELY 1,000. THIS HAPPENS TO ME REPEATEDLY (EVERY DAY) BECAUSE MY HOUSE IS AT THE TOP OF THE CURVE OF HILL. AS I APPROACH THE DRIVEWAY AT THE TOP OF THE HILL, I CRUISE AND THEN RE-APPLY THE GAS TO DRIVE UP THE DRIVEWAY. THE CAR SHUDDERS (BUCKS) AS I DRIVE UP THE DRIVEWAY. IF I "GAS" IT AND GET THE RPMS UP, IT STOPS. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED (1 YEAR OLD) AT 14,700 MILES ON 11/1/14. THE DAY I DROVE IT HOME, THE SCENARIO OCCURRED. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER. THEY UPGRADED THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE, BUT IS STILL OCCURRING. I WILL CALL THE DEALER AGAIN. *TR
WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A DEAD STOP SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE PAUSES AND MOVES VERY SLOWLY ENOUGH TO GET YOU IN THE FRONT OF ON COMING VEHICLES, AND THEN WILL NOT EXCEED OVER 10 TO 12 MPH WHICH TAKES UP TO 30 TO 45 SEC. OR MORE. I NARROWLY ESCAPED A SEMI TRUCK HITTING ME ON THE DRIVERS SIDE PULLING OUT OF OUR LOCAL POST OFFICE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I HAVE NEEDED TO YANK THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD SO AS NOT TO GET REAR ENDED IN TRAFFIC. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES, WHICH THEY SAID THEY FIXED THE ISSUE BY REPLACING SOMETHING CALLED A BREAK SWITCH, "TWICE" THIS HOWEVER DID NOT CORRECT PROBLEM. THE NATIONAL INFINITI GROUP SENT A RECORDING DEVICE WHICH THE DEALER INSTALLED, THIS MEANT THAT WHEN THIS EVENT OCCURRED I WAS SUPPOSED TO REACH DOWN TO THE CONSOLE WHERE THE DEVICE WAS LOCATED AND PUSH A BUTTON TO RECORD EVENT ALL THE WHILE TRYING TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I SUCCESSFULLY DID IT WITHOUT INCIDENT AND RECORDED THE REQUESTED 6 EVENTS. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN CONSISTENTLY OCCURRING NOW FOR 7 MONTHS. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FOR MY ELDERLY PARENTS WITH EVERY AVAILABLE SAFETY OPTION FOR THEIR SAFETY, AND I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO LET THEM DRIVE THE CAR FOR OVER 6 MONTHS SINCE THEY TOOK IT ON A TRIP. FEARING THAT THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REACT FAST ENOUGH TO AVOID BEING IN AN ACCIDENT OR WORSE GETTING KILLED IN THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN FORCED TO DRIVE IT. INFINITI CALLED TODAY AND SAID THE RESULTS FROM DATA RECORDER SHOWED NO FIX NEEDED AT THIS TIME, SO THEY ARE CLEARLY IGNORING THE ISSUE AS I HAVE READ ONLINE OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE EXACT ISSUE. SOMEONE OR SOME FAMILY IS GOING TO HAVE A TRAGIC ACCIDENT WITH THIS PROBLEM AND I WANT TO GO ON RECORD THAT INFINITI CORPORATE ARE FULLY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND CHOSE TO DO NOTHING. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY INFINITI QX60 SINCE I PURCHASED IT 09/2014. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH IT ACCELERATING. I WOULD PRESS ON THE GAS AND IT WOULDN'T GIVE ME THE ACELLERATION THAT I WOULD EXPECT FROM THIS CAR... IT IS VERY SLUGGISH. I HAVE TOLD THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS SINCE 2014. EVERY TIME THEY CHECKED IT, THEY SAID THERE WASN'T A PROBLEM. ONE TIME, I RECEIVED THE SAME CAR AS A LOANER CAR WHILE THEY WORKED ON MY CAR, AND I COULD CLEARLY SEE THAT THERE WAS A DIFFERENCE IN THE WAY THAT CAR DROVE VERSUS MINE. THE LOANER CAR DROVE BETTER THAN MY CAR. SO, TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, I DROPPED MY CAR OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP IN MID-MAY (LAST MONTH) TO BE LOOKED AT. THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH MY CAR (JUDDER ISSUE) AND THEY HAD MY CAR FOR A WEEK. DURING THAT TIME, I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND OTHERS HAD THE SAME COMPLAINTS. ONE PERSON SAID THAT THEIR DEALERSHIP ENDED UP PURCHASING THEIR CAR BACK FROM THEM/ REFUNDED THEIR MONEY BECAUSE THE JUDDER ISSUE WASN'T RESOLVED. I ALSO SPOKE TO A REGIONAL SPECIALIST AT INFINITI AND HAVE A CASE # OF CASE # 22529177. I AM GOING TO CONTACT THE REGIONAL SPECIALIST AGAIN BECAUSE THIS ISSUE ISN'T RESOLVED BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT INFINITI SELLS INFERIOR CARS. ANOTHER ISSUE IS THE RUBBER MOLDING ON THE PASSENGER RIGHT DOOR IS COMING OFF AND PREVENTING ME FROM CLOSING THE DOOR AND WHEN SOMEONE IS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, WITH THEIR SEATBELT IS ON, THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON. IM SCARED THAT MY CAR WILL JUST DIE ON ME AS I'M DRIVING IT. WITH ALL THE THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING WITH AUTOMOBILES THESE DAYS, I DO NOT ANT TO FALL VICTIM TO ANY OF THESE ISSUES.

THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT NEEDED TO BE RE-CALIBRATED AND THE SEAT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V138000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,415.
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MILES AN HOUR IN MY 2 WEEK OLD INFINITI Q60 I WAS STARTLED BY THE SOUND OF WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A GUNSHOT. MY HUSBAND INSTRUCTED ME TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS HE THOUGHT PERHAPS A TIRE HAD BLOWN. TO OUR SURPRISE THE SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED. THIS RESULTED IN A LARGE HOLE WITH GLASS FACING UPWARD. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED BY THE GLASS THAT ENTERED THE VEHICLE. *TR
PURCHASED NEW 2014 QX60 HYBRID EQUIPPED WITH TECHNOLOGY PACKAGE, INCLUDING INTELLIGENT BRAKE ASSIST WITH FORWARD COLLISION WARNING, AND DISTANCE CONTROL ASSIST. INITIALLY THE ONLY ISSUE WAS THE VEHICLE HESITATING WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THE VEHICLE NEEDED A BREAK-IN PERIOD TO OPTIMIZE THE ENGINE AND HYBRID SYSTEM. TWO WEEKS LATER AS I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT LESS THAN 15 MPH, THE DRIVER SEAT BELT SUDDENLY PRE-TENSED TIGHTLY AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES, SUDDENLY PINNING ME TO SEAT UNTIL VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED. IT HAPPENED AGAIN THE NEXT DAY WHEN GENTLY APPLYING BRAKE WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEED ON RESIDENTIAL STREET. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED EACH TIME IT HAPPENED WHEN APPLYING BRAKES AT LOW SPEED WITH NO VEHICLES OR OBSTACLES IN VICINITY. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CHECKED THE VEHICLE OVER 24 HOURS AND COULD NOT DETECT THE PROBLEM, RETURNING THE VEHICLE TO ME. AFTER A WEEK IT BEGAN AGAIN, EACH TIME TIGHTENING QUICKLY AND PINNING ME INTO MY SEAT UNTIL VEHICLE COMPLETELY STOPPED. OCCURRED RANDOMLY AT SPEEDS LESS THAN 20MPH AND NO CARS, PEDESTRIANS OR OBSTACLES NEAR VEHICLE. NO ALARMS, NO WARNING AND NO REASON. NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS IT OCCURRED AS OFTEN AS 3 TIMES IN LESS THAN 24HRS, I LEFT MY VEHICLE AT DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AGAIN. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS, BOTH SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AND SERVICE MANAGER STATED THEY WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THE SEAT BELT IS NOT COMMUNICATING WITH AIRBAG/SAFETY SYSTEM OR RECOGNIZE THE HYBRID SYSTEM. SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE CONFIRMED OTHER QX60 HYBRIDS DETECTED SAME SEAT BELT MALFUNCTIONING DURING MANUFACTURING LINE TEST. MY QX60 HYBRID IS STILL IN DEALERSHIP SERVICE AFTER TWO WEEKS AND THEY CANNOT DETERMINE CAUSE OF SEAT BELT MALFUNCTIONING. *TR
MY CAR JUST SHUTOFF ENGINE MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY..I TOOK IT TO DEALER THEY COULDN'T FIND OUT WHAT'S PROBLEMS,THEY HOLD MY CAR 2WEEKS FINALLY THEY FOUND IT. IT WAS HYBRID ALTERNATOR.. AND JULY 18/2014 MY CAR START FLUTTER WHEN BACK TO DEALER THEY STILL HOLD MY CAR FOR REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. I FEEL THIS CAR NEED A RECALL FOR SAFETY.. *TR
WE HAVE HAD TWO ISSUES WITH OUR 2014 QX60. THE FIRST ISSUE WAS A SHUDDER PROBLEM WHERE THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE/HESITATE/FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL AT LOWER SPEEDS, AROUND CORNERS, ETC. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED IT WAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE SECOND ISSUE CAME ABOUT AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED AND HAS YET TO BE FIXED. THE ACCELERATOR WILL INTERMITTENTLY NOT WORK. THIS HAPPENS EITHER FROM A STOP ? I GO TO HIT THE GAS AND EITHER NOTHING HAPPENS OR THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD AND STOPS. I WILL PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR AGAIN AND IT WILL WORK. THE OTHER TIME IS WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AND GO TO INCREASE YOUR SPEED ? YOU PRESS ON THE GAS AND THE RPM?S GO DOWN AND NOTHING HAPPENS. I PRESS ON THE GAS AGAIN AND NOTHING HAPPENS. I TRY AGAIN AND IT WILL KICK IN. THE DEALERSHIP HAD OUR CAR FOR 6 WEEKS FOR THE SECOND ISSUE AND CANNOT REPLICATE IT SO THEREFORE THEY WON?T DO ANYTHING FOR US. WE ARE NOW GOING THROUGH AN ARBITRATION PROGRAM REQUESTING A REPLACEMENT OF OUR VEHICLE AS IT SEEMS TO MEET LEMON LAW. WE HAVE AN UNSAFE UNPREDICTABLE VEHICLE THAT WE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY ON. WE ARE VERY UNHAPPY WITH INFINITY CORPORATE AS THEY OFFERED US $1,000 TO GO AWAY. THIS IS NOT ABOUT MONEY BUT ABOUT SAFETY ISSUES. INFINITY CORPORATE ALSO STATED THAT THE NUMBER OF TIMES OUR VEHICLE HAS BEEN SEEN FOR THE PROBLEM IS NOT UNREASONABLE. I BEG TO DIFFER AS HAVING OUR VEHICLE GONE FOR A FULL 6 WEEKS (AND THIS DOES NOT COUNT ALL THE OTHER TIMES IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE OTHER ISSUE) IS VERY UNREASONABLE. WE WERE TOLD WE HAD TO PICK UP OUR VEHICLE AFTER 6 WEEKS. TWO WEEKS LATER WE HAD THE ISSUE HAPPEN TWICE TO US SO WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WERE HESITANT TO ACCEPT THE VEHICLE TO THEIR REPAIR DEPARTMENT. THEY DID ACCEPT IT FINALLY BUT UNSURE WHAT THEY ARE EVEN DOING WITH THE VEHICLE AT THIS POINT. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS SUV IN MAY 2014. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AFTER MY WIFE AND I BOTH NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS AT 20 MPH WHEN YOU APPLY GAS. IT STARTED GETTING WORSE AND WE CALLED THE DEALER WHO SCHEDULED A REVIEW. THEY EVENTUALLY INSTALLED A NEW TRANSMISSION. WE ARE ABOUT 4 WEEKS AFTER THIS REPAIR AND ARE NOTICING THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN. THERE WERE ALSO ABOUT FOUR INCIDENTS WHERE I WOULD SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE AND THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT CHANGE INTO GEAR FOR OVER 10 SECONDS.....AS THOUGH IT WAS LOW ON FLUID OR HAD A LINE BLOCKAGE. I ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN I'M DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED IT AND ACCELERATE, SOMETIMES IT FELT LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS EXCESSIVELY DOWNSHIFTING. I SEE THAT THIS HAS ALSO BEEN A PROBLEM ON THE JX35 WHICH IS THE SAME SUV AS THE QX60. *JS
PROBLEM 1: APPROXIMATELY 4 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR, WE NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WOULD DEACTIVATE DURING OPERATION WHILE AN ADULT WAS IN THE SEAT. CAR WAS TAKEN TO INFINITI DEALER AND SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED ACCORDING TO THE AIRBAG RECALL. HOWEVER THE ISSUE CONTINUES TO REMAIN AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG STILL RANDOMLY DEACTIVATES WHILE AN ADULT IS IN THE SEAT. INFINITI HAS BEEN INFORMED MULTIPLE TIMES BUT STATES THAT THE ISSUE CANNOT BE REPLICATED AND AS SUCH HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING TO FIX IT. INFINITI HAS STATED THAT THE SEAT BELTS CONTINUE TO WORK AND IS THE FIRST LINE DEFENSE IN AN ACCIDENT! PROBLEM 2: APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR, WE EXPERIENCED TRANSMISSION JUDDER AT LOW SPEEDS (5-10MPH) AND GOING AROUND CORNERS. INFINITI UPDATED THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE BUT THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN FULLY SOLVED. THE TRANSMISSION STILL HAS SOME JUDDERING. INFINITI HAS BEEN INFORMED MULTIPLE TIMES BUT STATES THAT THE ISSUE CANNOT BE REPLICATED AND AS SUCH HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING TO FIX IT. *TR
SINCE WE HAVE PURCHASED OUR CAR BRAND NEW IN 2014 WE HAVE HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. RANDOMLY, EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A PERSON SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR IS LIT "OFF" AS IF NOONE IS SITTING IN THE CAR SEAT. WE HAVE RECORDED VIDEOS OF MULTIPLE EVENTS AND HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER. EACH TIME THE DEALERSHIP RUNS A SCAN IT TELLS THEM THAT THE CAR IS OPERATING NORMALLY. I HAVE EVEN DEALT WITH INFINITI DIRECTLY AND THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO COME UP WITH A FIX AND KEEP TELLING US TO BE PATIENT BECAUSE THEY ARE WORKING ON RESOLVING THIS PROBLEM. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR NOW FOR ALMOST 1 1/2 YEARS AND STILL NO GOOD FIX BY INFINITI. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND WE FEEL IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE SINCE AN AIRBAG WOULD NOT GO OFF DURING AN ACCIDENT EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A PASSENGER IN THE PASSENGER SEAT.
I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW INFINITI QX60 2014 IN APR. 2014. THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG HAS BEEN FREQUENTLY OFF EVEN WHEN AN ADULT OCCUPIES THE SEAT, AND THE PROBLEM HAPPENED JUST A FEW DAYS AFTER THE PURCHASE. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY RE-CALIBRATED THE AIRBAG SENSOR. ALSO, THE DEALER SAID THAT THE CAR IS NOT UNDER RECALL LIST AS THE CAR IS NEWLY MANUFACTURED IN MAR. 2014, AND THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY, IN FACT, DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS AFTER THE RE-CALIBRATION OF THE AIRBAG SENSOR - THEY NEED A FIELD ENGINEER FROM INFINITI DIRECTLY TO INVESTIGATE THIS... UNFORTUNATELY, I STILL NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG IS OFTEN OFF EVEN THOUGH MY WIFE (OR MYSELF) OCCUPIED THE PASSENGER SEAT (EVEN AFTER THE SENSOR RE-CALIBRATION). AS THE AIRBAG IS VERY CRITICAL, THIS ISSUE MUST BE RESOLVED. *TR
SEPARATE BUT RELATED ISSUES: 1) CRASH- CAR WAS PARKED AT A GAS STATION WITH NOBODY INSIDE; AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO IT REVERSED, TURNED, CAME TO A STOP, THEN MOVED FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO A WALL. HAVE GAS STATION SURVEILLANCE VIDEO FOOTAGE TO SHOW. HAS BEEN DESCRIBED AS "HAUNTED." PERHAPS RELATED TO ACCIDENT AVOIDANCE SYSTEMS. 2) POWER DOES NOT ENGAGE ON INCLINE- ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS (REPEATABLE) WHEN THE CAR IS ON A MODEST INCLINE AND STOPPED, THE FORWARD POWER DOES NOT ENGAGE CAUSING CAR TO ROLL BACKWARD. GAS MUST BE PRESSED TO 3/4 FULL SPEED IN ORDER TO ENGAGE POWER. 3) TRANSMISSION DESIGN FLAW- IN ANY GEAR OTHER THAN PARK, THE CAR CAN ROLL FREELY IN ANY DIRECTION, WITH OR WITHOUT ENGINE RUNNING. FOR EXAMPLE IF FACING DOWNHILL AND IN REVERSE, WITH CAR RUNNING, THE CAR CAN ROLL FORWARD WITHOUT STOP OR RESISTANCE FROM THE TRANSMISSION / ENGINE OR STALLING OUT, HENCE LOCKING THE ENGINE. 4) BATTERY ISSUE- ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITHIN A FEW MONTHS OF PURCHASE, THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEPLETED REQUIRING A JUMP START. GIVEN ALL THE ELECTRONICS IN THE CAR THAT PREVENT SUCH A THING (LIGHTS TURN OFF, CAN'T LOCK KEYS IN CAR, ETC) SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE. DEALER FOUND NO CAUSE.
I LEASED THE QX60 ON MARCH 19TH AND RIGHT AWAY I NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD GO ON WHEN MY SONS (100 AND 110 POUNDS) WOULD SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH INTELLIGENT CRUISE CONTROL. A TEST DRIVE WITH THE DEALERSHIP ON 11/19/2014 REVEALED, SETTING THE CRUISE AT 40 MPH SHOWED AN INCREASE IN SPEED OF 30+ MPH, DOWNHILL. WHEN GOING DOWNHILL THE VEHICLE WILL INCREASE IN SPEED WITH THE ENGINE RPM'S REMAINING AT 1500 RPM'S, 1500RPM = 40 MPH. I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS PERSON, AND WAS TOLD TO CALL THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE MANAGER TO SCHEDULE A TEST DRIVE OF THE SAME MODEL. I FOUND IT TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS MY WIFE'S CAR. I CALL THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS PERSON AT INFINITI AND TOLD HIM WHAT I FOUND. HE EXPLAINED THAT WAS HOW THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS DESIGNED AND IS NORMAL. ON NOVEMBER 19,2014, I REQUEST TO BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE INFINITI REPRESENTATIVE WOULD BE AT THE DEALERSHIP. HE SET THE INTELLIGENT CRUISE CONTROL AT 40 MPH, WHEN WE STARTED DOWNHILL THE VEHICLE PICKING UP SPEED. WHEN WE REACHED THE BOTTOM WE CONTINUED TO PICK UP SPEED, ALMOST 30 MPH. WE TOOK VEHICLE TO INFINITY AND THEY REPLACED SENSOR BUT AFTER A WEEK SAME PROBLEM TOOK CAR BACK NO RESOLUTION YET. I KNOW THEY HAD RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM ON JX 35. *TR

I LEASED THIS 2014 QX60 ON 10/23/2013. WITHIN THE FIRST TWO WEEKS WE NOTICED THAT THE "AIRBAG OFF" LIGHT WOULD GO ON WHILE MY WIFE WAS IN THE FRONT SEAT. IT WOULD COME ON FOR SEVERAL MINUTES THEN GO OFF. THIS OCCURRED RANDOMLY AND WOULD OCCUR DAYS APART. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY ADJUSTED THE SENSITIVITY. THE ISSUE STARTED BACK A MONTH LATER AND WE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK ON 2/26/14 AND THEY PERFORMED A ZERO POINT RESET. THE ISSUE CAME BACK AND WE RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT WORKED AND MY WIFE WAS TOO LIGHT(WEIGHS 135 POUNDS) OR SITTING INCORRECTLY. THEY RECALIBRATED THE SENSOR. THE ISSUE CAME BACK AS THE AIRBAG OFF LIGHT WOULD STAY ON WHILE MY WIFE WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT. THIS WOULD HAPPEN RANDOMLY AND SOMETIMES COME ON DURING A TRIP AND STAY ON FOR AN HOUR THEN TURN OFF. WE RETURNED THE VEHICLE ON 6/25/14 DURING OUR SERVICE TO ADDRESS ISSUE AGAIN. RETURNED THE VEHICLE AGAIN ON 10/15/14 AND THE DEALER "RESET" THE PROGRAM AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THREE DAYS LATER THE AIRBAG OFF CAME BACK ON WITH MY DAUGHTER IN THE SEAT(100 POUNDS) AND THEN A DAY LATER WITH MY WIFE. I CONTACTED INFINITI CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THEY INFORMED ME THIS CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND HAD ME RETURN TO THE DEALER TO DO THE SAME "FIX" THEY HAVE DONE EVERY OTHER TIME. THEY PERFORMED ANOTHER ZERO POINT RESET. NOW THEY WANT TO SEND A FIELD ENGINEER TO INVESTIGATE THIS. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND STILL HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE UNDER SOME TYPE OF RECALL. *TR
