transmission slip and jerk and it's hard to accelerate
I took my 2015 qx60 into the infiniti dealership on 4/3/2023 because it was misfiring, was told that there was a coolant leakage into cylinder 2, I need to get a new motor and was given a 25,671.77 quote. I just had my car at the same dealership on 1/26/2023 and was told that everything was fine with my car. The problem started in March and I just had gotten gas, so I thought it was bad gas and needed to drive it out. But when I finally driven it out and got more from another station the problem persist. During this time my service engine light did not come on, my car did not run hot nor did it smoking and it only has 77k. I am the original owner of this car and could not believe that the lifecycle of this luxury car is only 7 years, so I reached out to infiniti consumer affairs on 4/10/2023 for help to make sure that this is not a manufacturers defect. I was told by the representative that opened a case for me to have my car towed to another dealership for a second opinion which I did on 4/11/2023. My infiniti dealership advisor called me on 4/12/2023 and said that it would be $3000 to do a deep dive into the motor, so I called infiniti consumer affairs back and after the new representative came up to speed on my case, I was told that they would not help me with find the cause of this leakage. My warranty just expired on 12/19/2022 and I feel completely blindsided because when I purchase my brand new infifniti qx60 I thought I was purchasing a reliable car that I would have for longer than the 2004 nissan sentra that I traded in after having it for 11 years.
The radiator cooling fan malfunctioned on Infinity QX60 model after 39000 miles on the odometer. Engine cooling mechanism fails that may result in overheat/engine failure or potential fire. It is a known defect on infinity qx60 and Nissan Pathfinders. It costs $1200 to replace the fan assembly. Infinity is aware of this defect/faulty part and will not recall to correct the defect and put the burden on consumers to spend over a thousand dollars to correct the issue.
The contact owns a 2015 Infinity QX60. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle started to stall. The contact pulled over and waited for about 30 minutes to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was started and driven back to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer to be diagnosed: however, no failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RIVERSIDE TOYOTA (LOCATED AT 131 US-411, ROME, GA 30161, (706) 291-2886) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT A FAILURE CODE COULD NOT BE LOCATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 INFINITI QX60. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE PREVIOUSLY OCCURRED IN DECEMBER OF 2018. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (PEPE INFINITI, 300 CENTRAL AVE, WHITE PLAINS, NY 10606) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
THERE IS A VERY LOUD SPUTTERING FROM THE ENGINE WHEN I AM STOPPED. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THE CAR IS GOING TO DIE. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS. I TRIED REVVING THE ENGINE IN NEUTRAL TO SEE IF THAT WOULD RESOLVE IT, TO NO AVAIL. I JUST HAD MY STATE INSPECTION PERFORMED AT THE DEALER LESS THAN A WEEK PRIOR TO EVENT. NO ISSUES CAME UP AT THAT TIME.
I HAVE NOTICED MY CAR STUTTER A BIT WHEN I ACCELERATE AT A LOW SPEED. IT HAPPENED INFREQUENTLY BUT AS TIME HAS GONE ON IT HAS GOTTEN MUCH WORSE. WHEN I BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP THEY CHARGED ME $100 TO PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER TO REPROGRAM IT, OF WHICH I THOUGHT WAS ODD. IT WAS TOLD TO ME IN ORDER TO GET AN ACCURATE READING ON THIS MAKE AND YEAR THIS NEEDED TO BE DONE. AFTER DRIVING ANOTHER 1K MILES, IT WOULD REVEAL THE PROBLEM OF WHICH IS A VALVE SYSTEM ISSUE IN THE ENGINE THAT CAN LEAD TO A FAULTY TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FROM THE RESEARCH I'VE DONE. IT IS KNOWN THAT THE 2013, 2014 AND SOME 2015(IF MANUFACTURED IN 2014) INFINITI'S HAVE THIS ISSUE!! THE DEALERSHIP NOW RECOMMENDS ME FIXING THE WHOLE VALVE SYSTEM. THEY WILL GIVE ME A DISCOUNT BUT THAT THIS IS ON ME AS THE CONSUMER. THIS IS NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE, IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT THAT THIS MODEL/YEAR HAS AND IM VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT I HAVE TO PAY TO FIX SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN AN EXISTING ISSUE WITH THIS CAR AND I'M NOT GUARANTEED THAT IT WILL CORRECT THE PROBLEM EVEN IF I DO FIX IT. AS A HUGE COMPANY AS INFINITI I WOULD THINK THEY WOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR CARS ESPECIALLY WHEN THE VALUE SYSTEM IS IMPERATIVE TO MAKE THE CAR WORK PROPERLY AND COULD LEAD TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN THE FUTURE!
I’m reporting a serious safety issue with this Infiniti. Tonight while driving the engine just shut off. We fortunately were not in an accident, but easily could have been. What terrifies me is that this happened twice a few years ago. It was still under warranty so Infiniti inspected it and replaced the entire transmission. The warranty is expired, but this huge safety issue is still happening!
