TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SECURITY SYSTEM ALARM KEPT SOUNDING IN THE VEHICLE. THE ALARM, HORN, AND ALL THE LIGHTS WOULD ACTIVATE. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO WAIT 30-45 MINUTES BEFORE THE FAILURES WOULD STOP. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING OR WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE DEALER INSTALLED A NEW BATTERY TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE DEALER PLACED A KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE KEY BECAME STUCK. THE DEALER ALSO INSTALLED A NEW COMPUTER, WHICH DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE COMPUTER WAS PRONOUNCED AS DEFECTIVE AND ANOTHER ONE WAS ORDERED. THE REPLACEMENT COMPUTER DID NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE EITHER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ASSIST IF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,404 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
SAFETY BELT RETRACTORS DO NOT FUNCTION CONSISTENTLY, BELTS HANG IN DOOR OPENING AND BECOME CAUGHT IN THE LATCH/STRIKE ASSEMBLY WHEN THE DOORS ARE CLOSED. THIS CAUSES DAMAGE TO THE BELT, REQUIRING REPLACEMENT. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL CHRYSLER PRODUCTS (DODGE DART, PLYMOUTH RELIANT, 2 CHEROKEES AND OTHER) AND ALL HAVE EXHIBITED THIS PROBLEM. *TR
THE ENGINE HAS 150,00 MILES. IT IS LOSING COOLANT WITH NO PUDDLES TO SHOW FOR IT. THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE SHOWS 0 AT IDLE. THE ENGINE CONSTANTLY OVERHEATS. NO SIGN OF HEAD GASKET LEAK. COOLANT OVERFLOW TANK FILLS WITH COOLANT/OIL/RUST MIXTURE AFTER RUNNING THE ENGINE FOR 5 MINUTES. DOOR LOCKS DON'T WORK SOMETIMES. TAIL LIGHTS WORK ON AND OFF WHILE THE LIGHTS ARE OFF. ALL PROBLEMS STARTED WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
FIRST, ENGINE BEGAN TO LOOSE OVERHEAT AND LOOSE COOLANT AT 55,000M - 1 QT EVERY 200 - 300 MILES. NO LEAK FOUND BY MECHANIC. LOSS CONTINUED. THEN LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE WHEN ENGINE WAS WARMED FULLY. PRESSURE DROPS AT ALL RPM BUT DOWN TO 0 WHEN IDLE IS BELOW 1300 RPM( (AT IDLE). CANNOT FIND LEAK BUT HAVE BEEN ADVISED ON SEVERAL FORUMS THAT THIS YEAR (98 - 01) JEEP 4.0 ENGINES HAVE A VERY HIGH FAILURE RATE RELATED TO THIS PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE A FAULTY ENGINE CASTING PRONE TO INTERNAL CRACKING, CAUSING COOLANT LOSS AND LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE. JEEP DEALER DENIES AND KNOWLEDGE OF THIS ISSUE. BUT, JEEP SENT A SPECIAL LETTER TO BUYERS OF THIS YEAR/MODEL JEEP CHEROKEE THAT THEY WERE DESPERATE TO BUY AS MANY OF THIS YEAR MAKE/MODEL AS THEY COULD AND WOULD PROVIDE A REASONABLE TRADE-IN VALUE. THEY DID NOT SPECIFY WHY THEY WOULD NEED TO ACQUIRE SO MANY OF THIS PARTICULAR USED YEAR/MODEL JEEP CHEROKEES. *TR
I OWN A 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE METAL THAT ATTACHES THE SEAT TO THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT MOUNTING HAS FAILED IN MULTIPLE AREAS LEANING THE SEAT BACK AND TO THE RIGHT. THE SEAT IS HELD BY ONE BOLT, WHILE THE METAL IS TEARING ON THE OTHERS DUE TO THE TENSION. THE TWO DRIVERS ARE BOTH FIT, UNDER 200LBS WITH GOOD POSTURE - THIS IS CLEARLY A STRUCTURAL DEFECT. THE SEAT ANGLE NOW CAUSES THE DRIVER BACK AND HIP PAIN AND IN AN ACCIDENT WOULD POSE AN EXTREME DANGER TO ALL PASSENGERS. REPLACEMENT DRIVER SEAT IS OVER TWICE THE COST OF MATCHING PASSENGER SEAT INDICATING THAT THE MANUFACTURER IS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THEIR DEFECT. *TR
VEHICLE STRUCK TREE, THEN METAL POLE AT 30 MPH. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT COMPONENT FAILURE AT THIS TIME. *JB
FRONT DRIVER SEAT BROKE LOOSE FROM FLOOR I WENT TO JUNK YARD AND BOUGHT ANOTHER SEAT COST AT THE TIME WAS 75 DOLLARS AND THEN IN 2011 THE SEAT BROKE LOOSE AGAIN I HAVE NOT FIXED IT AS OF THIS DATE. *TR
AT 20,000 MILES MY JEEP CHEROKEE SHUTTERED WHEN BRAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT WAS SO VIOLENT IT ALMOST THREW MY JEEP INTO THE DIVIDING WALL. I TOOK THIS TO MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A $700 REPAIR TO REPLACE MY ROTORS AND BREAK PADS. THIS IS COVERED UNDER A JEEP SERVICE BULLETIN BUT WAS NOT A RECALL. JEEP KNEW BEFORE MY VEHICLE ROLLED OFF THE ASSEMBLY LINE THAT THE BRAKE ROTORS WARPED UNDER CONDITIONS OF HIGH HEAT OR THE USE OF SALT ON THE HIGHWAYS. THIS IS DUE TO THE COMPOSITE METAL OF THE ROTOR. I THEN TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY REGULAR MECHANIC AND HAD THE ROTORS REPLACE WITH CHRYSLER PARTS. ONCE AGAIN I AM EXPERIENCING THE VIBRATION AT 54,000. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE SAME THING. I AM NOW KEEPING A COLLECTION OF WARPED JEEP ROTORS IN HOPE THAT EVENTUALLY THEY WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS PROBLEM. *JB
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WEEK OF 1/1/07 THE DRIVER WENT TO START A 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT WHEN A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD AND VIBRATIONS FELT. THE CONTACT TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT INFORMED HER THAT THE CAM SHAFT WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CAM SHAFT WAS REPLACED AND THE CONTACT DOES HAVE THE DAMAGED PARTS. THE DEALERSHIP DID INFORM THE CONTACT THAT THIS WAS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM.
HORN FAILURE. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST OCCASION OF THIS EVENT. THE INTERSTATE TRAFFIC WAS AT STOPPED DUE TO A WRECK AND A SEMI TRUCK ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LANE CHANGE. I ATTEMPTED TO SIGNAL THAT THE LANE WAS OCCUPIED BY BLOWING THE CAR HORN AND AFTER PRESSING ON THE HORN LOGO IN THE CENTER OF THE STEERING WHEEL NOTHING HAPPENED. I TRIED MULTIPLE TIMES AND STILL NOTHING. LUCKILY THE DRIVER OF THE SEMI FINALLY LOOKED AND STOPPED BEFORE PUSHING MY CAR INTO THE CENTER CONCRETE DIVIDER. IT IS A VERY FRUSTRATING FEELING TO SEE AN IMPENDING CASH AND TO HAVE NO MEANS TO ALERT OTHER DRIVERS. *NM
MOUNTING BRACKET ON THE 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE DRIVER SEAT HAS BROKEN, CAUSING THE SEAT TO LEAN BACK AND TO THE RIGHT. *TR

2001 JEEP CHEROKEE REAR BRAKE AND TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS REPEATEDLY BURN OUT. *KB *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS MAKING A CLICKING SOUND WHILE TURNING. THE TILT STEERING WHEEL THEN LOCKED IN THE FORWARD POSITION. A SERVICE DEALER WAS CONSULTED ABOUT THE PROBLEM, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED.
CONSUMER MOVED STEERING WHEEL FORWARD UPON EXITING 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE. NOW THE STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL. *KB WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS MOVED FORWARD THE CONSUMER HEARD A FUNNY NOISE. NOW THE STEERING WHEEL CANNOT BE MOVED BACK TO IT'S NORMAL DRIVING POSITION. THE CONSUMER CALLED THE DEALER AND WA GIVEN THE MANUFACTURERS CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE THE FRONTAL AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ALTHOUGH THE DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER WERE ALERTED, NO INSPECTIONS HAVE BEEN MADE.
2001 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT, WIFE PARKS VEHICLE AT TOP OF STEEP DRIVEWAY ON FAIRLY LEVEL GROUND. PUTS TRANSMISSION IN "PARK", SETS EMERGENCY BRAKE AND EXITS CAR, LEAVING CAR RUNNING FOR NIECE AND 2YR OLD SON TO HAVE AC. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 15 MIN, NIECE DECIDES TO EXIT VEHICLE, OPENS PASSENGER DOOR, REACHES OVER TO TURN OFF IGNITION. AS SOON AS IGNITION IS TURNED OFF, CAR LURCHES BACKWARD, RUNS DOWN HILL, CROSSES THE STREET, RUNS THROUGH NEIGHBORS BACK YARD, THROUGH TREES, OVER RETAINING WALL AND HIGH CENTERS ON LARGE LOG. ALL PASSENGERS WERE OKAY BUY DID OVER $3000.00 IN DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. ALSO, THE LOW BEAM STOPPED WORKING. BOTH PROBLEMS OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE EITHER PROBLEM.
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE COMPUTER SHOWED A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION JERKED WHILE IN MOTION AND CHANGING GEARS. HOWEVER, THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN, BUT THE REPLACEMENT STARTED SMOKING. THE DEALER REPLACED AN OIL SEAL AND THE SMOKING CONTINUED. AFTER THE TRANSMISSIONS WERE REPLACED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUED TO STAY ILLUMINATED. *AK
AS I WAS DRIVING MY 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 72 MPH THE VEHICLES BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY "THE DEATH WOBBLE". WHAT HAD HAPPENED IS I HIT A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD CAUSING THE VIBRATION. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT WAS TO FINISH PASSING THE SEMI AND PULL OVER ON THE SHOULDER AND STOP( WITH OUT GETTING KILLED OR KILLING ANYONE ELSE.) THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A YEAR. THE FIRST TIME I WAS TOLD IT WAS MY TIRES. I CHANGED THEM WITH GOODYEAR (LIKE THE FACTORY HAD). THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE SWAY BAR. THIS STILL DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. ON THE THIRD TIME THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY CONTROL ARMS. THE CONTROL ARMS WERE REPLACED AND I STILL NOTICE A SMALL VIBRATION BUT IT HAS NOT HAD THE ("DEATH WOBBLE YET"). I AM WRITING THIS COMPLAINT TO OFFICIALLY INFORM THE PUBLIC OF THIS PROBLEM. I WANT TO ENSURE THAT I AM THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THANKS *JB
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILS WHICH IN TURN DEACTIVATES AIR BAGS. *JB
PURCHASED A 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT IN NOVEMBER, 2004. IN THE PAST 3 MONTHS, I EXPERIENCED A SEVERE SHAKING OF THE VEHICLE; MOST OFTEN AFTER HITTING A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD. IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO GET THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP WHERE PURCHASED AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. KEPT HAPPENING, AT SPEEDS OF 35-45 MPH. DIAGNOSED AT BELLE TIRE AS A BAD TRACK BAR.TOOK IIT TO ANOTHER JEEP DEALERSHIP; TRACK BAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS REPLACED. SAID PROBLEM WAS FIXED BUT 2 DAYS LATER, WHILE ON FREEWAY (65 MPH) IN RIGHT-HAND LANE, EXTREMELY VIOLENT SHAKING OCCURRED. I BARELY GOT THE CAR TO THE SIDE, BECAUSE THE STEERING WASS UNCONTROLLABLE. I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT HAD I BEEN IN ANY BUT THE RIGHT HAND LANE, I WOULD HAVE HIT ANOTHER CAR. I WAS ABLE TO RE-ENTER THE RIGHT HAND LANE BUT KEPT MY SPEED AT 35 MPH AND EXITED IMMEDIATELY. CAR WENT BACK TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. THEY SAID IT COULD BE CAUSED BY 10-15 DIFFERENT THINGS AND THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT WOULD BE TO REPLACE EVERYTHING, STARTING WITH STEERING DAMPNER (NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY) BUT HAD NO IDEA IF THAT WOULD FIX IT. I HAVE ONLY OWNED THE CAR FOR 6 MONTHS AND HAVE ALREADY SPENT ALMOST $1,000 ON TRYING TO HAVE IT FIXED (INCLUDING NEW TIRES AND A WHEEL ALIGNMENT). THE DEALER WAS COMPLETELY INDIFFERENT TO THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DIRECTOR SAID IT WOULD COST ME A LOT OF MONEY TO HAVE EVERYTHING REPLACED, AND EVEN THEN, COULD NOT GUARANTEE THE PROBLEM WOULD BE FIXED. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THESE EXPERIENCES, ESPECIALLY THE ONE ON THE FREEWAY, WHICH I WOULD RATE A 10 ON A SCALE OF 1-10 (THE OTHERS RANGING FROM 1-4), HAVE SHAKEN ME TO THE VERY CORE; I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I CAN NEVER AGAIN DRIVE THAT CAR AND FEEL SAFE, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE DEALER HAS NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEM IS OR HOW TO FIX IT. I CHECKED THE INTERNET AND FOUND 38,000 WEBSITES DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM; PREVALENT IN JEEPS. THE PROBLEM IS APTLY DUBBED "DEATH WOBBLE".
2001 JEEP CHEROKEE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS CORRODED. *MR THE ROTORS ALSO FLAKED CREATING A HAZARDOUS CONDITION. THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF THIS PRIOR TO THE END OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD, BUT DID NOT CORRECT THIS DEFECT. THE CONSUMER ALSO EXPERIENCED STANDING WATER IN THE FOOT WELLS, A/C FAILURE, FAN FAILURE AND THE DOORS NOT BEING ALIGNED PROPERLY. THERE IS A BRAKE RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE, BUT THE RECALL NUMBER WAS NOT GIVEN. *SC *JB
ALL 4 DOOR WINDOW TRACKS AN OR MOTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED .THE DRIVERS DOOR HAVE BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES ,THE OTHER 1 OR 2 TIMES .RIGHT NOW THE DRIVER DOOR WINDOW NEEDS REPLACED AGAIN AND THE PASSENGER BACK DOOR. *TR
I OWN A 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES SUCH AS BRAKES/ROTORS THAT I HAVE TAKEN CARE OF WITHOUT COMPLAINT. HOWEVER MY JEEP WAS JUST DIAGNOSED WITH A FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILURE AND NEEDS A COMPLETE OVERHAUL. MY CAR HAS ONLY 60,000 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE HAD THE FRONT AND REAR DIFFERENTIALS SERVICED TWICE EACH ACCORDING TO THE SPECS IN MY OWNER'S MANUAL. I'VE BEEN TOLD BY PRIVATE MECANICS AS WELL AS JEEP TECHNICIANS THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE OCCURED. CHRYSLER TOLD ME AFTER I HAD IT DIAGNOSED BY MY PERSONAL MECHANIC TO HAVE IT CHECKED BY MY DEALERSHIP. IF THE DEALERSHIP CAME TO THE SAME CONCLUSION I WAS ASSURED THAT MY WARRANTY WOULD BE EXTENDED TO COVER THE REPAIR. NOW CHRYSLER IS REFUSING THE REPAIR AND WILL NOT RETURN MY CALLS. I HAVE BEEN GIVEN AT LEAST FALSE INFORMATION AND HAVE MOST LIKELY BEEN LIED TO. I'VE ALREADY PAID ALMOST $200 FOR THE DIAGNOSTICS AND NOW AM BEING QUOTED ANOTHER $925 FOR THE REPAIR BY THE DEALER. I STILL HAVE OVER A YEAR LEFT ON THE NOTE FOR THIS VEHICLE AND AM APPALLED THAT I AM ALREADY PAYING TO HAVE A MAJOR DRIVETRAIN COMPONENT REBUILT. CHRYSLER HAS DONE NOTHING TO REMEDY THIS. *AK
ON FREEWAY, OIL PUMP OF MY 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE FAILED, DRIVE SHAFT TO OIL PUMP STRIPPED, AT ONLY 45,000 MILES. ALL PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AT A COST OF $1000.*AK
THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN 2001 JEEP CHEROKEES ARE AWFUL IT STARTS OUT AS THE GAUGES, THEN THE DOME LIGHT, THEN TO EVERYTHING ELSE COULD BE A FIRE HAZARD. *TR
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH ENGINE STALLED. WHILE SERVICING THE VEHICLE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT STALLING WAS DUE TO FLOODING OF THE ENGINE.*AK
HAD PROBLEMS W/ FRONT END SHAKING VIOLENTLY WHEN I HIT A BUMP, CHANGED LANES OR PUT ON THE BRAKES AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. THOUGHT IT WAS A BRAKES OR ALIGNMENT PROBLEM, BUT AFTER HAVING BRAKES REPLACED AND THE ALIGNMENT CHECKED, I RESORTED TO GOING TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP. AFTER DEALER REPLICATED THE SYMPTOMS, INFORMED ME OF A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FROM LAST YEAR AND THEN REPLACED THE ENTIRE SUSPENSION SYSTEM UNDER WARRANTY. (NOTE: THE CAR HAD 18,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME.) THE SYMPTOMS ARE RETURNING LESS THAN A YEAR LATER. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL.*AK

DEFECTIVE BRAKE, THERE IS A PULSATION FELT THROUGH BRAKE PEDAL WHEN BRAKING TO A STOP.BRAKE CALIPERS, ROTORS AND PADS REPLACED. *BF THE CONSUMER HAD PROBLEMS WITH FRONT BRAKES AND HAD RELEASED A TSB ON THE ISSUE AND THEY REPLACED BRAKE PARTS. *TC
CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE(04C002000) REGARDING THE HARNESS STRAPS!! NO PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. *JB
AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. DEALER WAS CONTACTED.*AK
CONSUMER WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT A DIFFERENTIAL PROBLEM. THE BEARINGS WERE GRINDING. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON 4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT ABOUT REAR DIFFERENTIAL. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR SERVICING ON 4 OCCASIONS, AND IT WAS MAKING A GRINDING NOISE 8 MONTHS LATER. WHEN DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 60 MPH AND GOING UP A HILL THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THE DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL THE VEHICLE WENT FASTER TO 80 MPH. TO STOP THE VEHICLE THE DRIVER HAD TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO NUETRAL. NO IMPACT REPORTED. WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE OVERHEATED. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT SHOP, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT INTAKE MANIFOLD CRACKED, AND COOLANT SPILLED INSIDE THE ENGINE. TECHNICIAN INDICATED THE NEED TO BE REPLACE THE ENTIRE ENGINE, VEHICLE HAD ONLY 58,000 MILES. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH AND WITHOUT WARNING DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN INSIDE OF THE DOOR FRAME. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE IT. CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THIS OCCURRED BEFORE. CONSUMER MUST RENDER PAYMENT BECAUSE THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT ON RECALL. *AK
I USUALLY DRIVE BACK ROADS UNDER 50 MILES PER HOUR. MY HUSBAND HAD TAKEN MY 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT ON THE INTERSTATE AND A CAR SWITCHED LANES INFRONT OF US CAUSING HIM TO HAVE TO BRAKE QUICKLY. THE FRONT OF MY CAR SHOOK SO HARD WE ALMOST WENT INTO A JERSEY WALL. UNTIL THAT VEHICLE WAS UNDER 40 MILES PER HOUR THE FRONT END WAS SHAKING SO VIOLENTLY IT WAS BARELY CONTROLABLE. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT MAY VERY WELL HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THE PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE WAS COVERED UNDER SERVICE BULLETIN 0500401. WHAT WE EXPERIENCED WAS NOT MINOR PULSATION. THE FRONT ROTOR WAS VISIBLY WARPED! WHEN I CALLED JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE ABOUT THE PROBLEM THEY ADMITTED THAT THEY WERE AWARE THAT THE FRONT ROTORS WOULD WARP UNDER CONDITIONS OF HIGH HEAT OR HIGH ROAD SALT USE. THIS WAS NOT A RECALL NOR DID THEY OFFER TO MEET PART OF THE COST OF REPAIR ($700). BUT THE COMPOSITE OF THE BRAKE ROTOR HAS SINCE BEEN CHANGED SO THAT THIS PROBLEM NO LONGER HAPPENS. WE WERE LUCKY TO NOT HAVE A VEHICLE IN THE LANE NEXT TO US AND WE WERE LUCKY NOT TO HAVE HIT THE JERSEY WALL. I WANTED TO MAKE YOU AWARE OF THIS BECAUSE THE NEXT PERSON MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY.

AFTER DRIVING MY VEHICLE FOR APPROX 20 MINUTES I NOTICE SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE HOOD. I OPENED THE HOOD AND FOUND THAT THE HOSE LEADING FROM THE ENGINE WAS VERY. MY TEMPERATURE GAUGES ALL REGISTERED NORMAL SO I ADDED SOME ENGINE COOLANT AND DID NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE NEXT AM. AFTER A 3 MILE DRIVE TO WORK SAME SITUATION AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THE RADIATOR HAD ROTTED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. ODD SINCE THERE WAS NO INDICATION PRIOR TO THE SMOKE.*AK
