WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 20 MPH VEHICLE STARTED WANDERING SIDE TO SIDE UNTIL LOSING CONTROL OF VEHICLE, WENT OFF, AND AVOIDED CRASHING. THEN, DEALER HAD CHECKED BRAKES, BUT DID NOT FOUND THE CAUSE. *AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING 45MPH ON HIGHWAY AND HEARD A NOISE. THERE WAS VIBRATION INSIDE OF VEHICLE. HE WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER, AND NOTICED THAT LEFT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE RIM. TIRE WAS A GOODYEAR TIRE, 15INCH TIRES.*AK
VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND WIRING HARNESS. CONSUMER HAS PURCHASED VEHICLE A WEEK AGO, AND WITHIN 4 DAYS VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER. DEALER HAS SINCE KEPT VEHICLE WITH NO REMEDY. PERIODICALLY, THE POWER WINDOWS DID NOT WORK. AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND OFF, AND AIR CONDITIONER WOULD NOT WORK. ALSO, VEHICLE HAD A GAS FUME SMELL AFTER VEHICLE WOULD NOT START.*AK
FRONT ROTORS AND THE PADS ARE WEARING EXCESSIVELY. FRONT ROTORS WERE TURNED TWICE, AND REPLACED ONCE. BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED ON THREE OCCASIONS FROM 15.000 MILES TO PRESENT. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING AND FRONT END SHAKES. *YH
CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT THE ROTORS HAD SPOTS ON THEM AND NEEDED TO BE MACHINED. *YH *NM
CONSUMER CONCERN ABOUT BRAKES ON 2001 JEEP CHEROKEE LAREDO. *BF WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED THE VEHICLE SHOOK. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TOT HE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR REPAIR BUT THE PROBLEM ALWAYS RESURFACES. *NM
THE HORN CAN ONLY BE SOUNDED IN A CERTAIN SMALL AREA ON THE STEERING WHEEL, IT HAS TO BE FORCEFULLY COMPRESSED WITH THE HEEL OF THE HAND FOR IT TO SOUND. NLM
OWNERS MANUAL STIPULATES THAT "END CAPS SHOULD NOT BE USED AS HOLD DOWNS. TIE DOWN HOLES ARE PROVIDED AT THE FRONT AND REAR ENDS OF THE SLIDE RAILS." THE TIE DOWN HOLDS ARE NOT USABLE BECAUSE THE HOLES DO NOT GO ALL THE WAY THROUGH SLIDE RAILS.*AK
FRONT END PROBLEMS CAUSING VEHICLE TO PULL AT ANY SPEEDS SLIGHTLY TO RIGHT OR HARD TO THE LEFT, POSSIBLY DUE TO OUT OF ALIGNMENT WHICH DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX 3-4 TIMES, BUT CANNOT FIX DEFECT. *AK
THE SEAT BELTS DID NOT FAIL, BUT THE BELT WOULD CATCH ON THE DOOR LATCH AND WAS RUBBING HOLES INTO THE BELT. JEEP WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON 2/14/01, THEY CALLED AND SAID THAT IT WAS A "DESIGN FLAW" BUT UNTIL MORE COMPLAINTS WERE RECEIVED, THEY WOULD DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. DEMONTROND WAS ALSO ADVISED ABOUT THE PROBLEM, BUT I WAS TOLD THAT FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT, IT WOULD COST ME FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT. THE JEEP HAS BEEN "TRADED. *AK
JEEP PULLS TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT. IT DOESN'T DRIVE RIGHT AND VIBRATES. MECHANIC SAID IT WAS NOT RIGHT. CHECK BY MECHANIC AT DEALERSHIP. NOTHING COULD BE DONE. JEEP IS HAZARDOUS ON THE ROAD WITH THE WAY IT DRIVES AND PULLS. ANOTHER MECHANIC SAID A BELT WAS BROKE IN THE RIGHT TIRE
I HAVE BEEN CONCERNED ABOUT THE BRAKING SYSTEM AS THE SHOES WERE CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 5745 MILES. AT 12503 MILES THE ROTORS NEEDED TO BE RESURFACED. NOW AT 15, 200 MILES I STILL FEEL A VIBRATION UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS BEEN VERY PATRONIZING. THEY STATE IT'S MY TIRES. THE GOODYEAR TIRE DEALER STATED THAT IF THERE IS VIBRATION UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES IT IS NOT THE TIRES BUT IT IS THE BRAKES. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT ACTION MOTORS HAS BEEN STALLING ME SO THAT THE CAR REACHES 18000 MILES AND WILL BE INELIGIBLE FOR THE LEMON LAW RETURN. I BELIEVE THERE ARE OTHER JEEP OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I'VE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL JEEP OWNERS AND THEY STATED THEY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM.. UNFORTUNATELY I DID NOT GET ANYONE'S NAMES AND ADDRESSES BUT I BELIEVE THAT THE NHTSA SHOULD INVESTIGATE ALL THE SERVICE RECORDS OF THE JEEP CHEROKEE TO ASCERTAIN HOW MANY PERSONS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. VEHICLE IN PARK ON A SLIGHT INCLINE AND IT JUMPED FROM PARK TO REVERSE, INJURING THE OWNER. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
WHILE DRIVING FELT VIBRATION. WHEN APPLYING BRAKES THEY FELT A PULSATION COMING FROM BRAKE PADS. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, WHO HAD ROTORS TURNED.*AK
CONTACTED CHRYSLER DAMILER SEVERAL TIMES, HOOD PAINT IS CHIPPED UNDER THE UNDERCOAT ON SECTION OF 2001 CAR AND CHIPPING OFF. THE SERVICE CENTER TOLD ME IT WAS DUE TO WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID AND THAT I HAVE TO WASH MY VEHICLE EVERY DAY. ASKED FOR THIS IN WRITING THEY WOULD NOT GIVE IT TO ME AND I CONTACTED DISTRICT MANAGER SEVERAL TIMES HE WOULD NOT RESPOND BACK. THIS IS A TRUCK AND IT IS MERCHANDISED AS SO IN THEIR PAMPHLETS. IT SAYS THIS TRUCK CAN GO IN MOUNTAINS BEACHES ECT. WHY DO I HAVE TO WASH THIS VEHICLE EVERYDAY IN ORDER TO STOP CHIPPING OF PAINT. COULD THERE COULD BE DEFECT. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE*AK
FRONT BRAKE ROTORS ARE WARPING AND CAUSING FRONT END TO SHAKE WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. HAD ROTORS TURNED TWICE.*AK

JEEP WAS SUBJECT TO VIBRATION WHEN BRAKING DUE TO FRONT ROTORS WARPING. ROTORS WERE TURNED PRIOR TO THIS, BUT PROBLEM REOCCURRED AFTER 3000 TO 5000 MILES. DEALERSHIP STATED THIS WA SDUE TO DRIVER'S ERROR. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. *AK
PREMATURE VAPORS FROM THE AIR BAG ESCAPED INTO THE COMPARTMENT OF THE TRUCK CHOKING THE DRIVER UNTIL UNCONSCIOUS. THE JEEP THEN CROSSED THE HIGHWAY/MEDIUM, STRIKING ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD ON AND THEN ROLLING FOUR TIMES. THE AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED AFTER THE EXTENT OF DAMAGE FROM COLLISION AND ROLLOVER. ESTIMATED SPEED OF IMPACT WAS 35 MPH. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. *MR
CONSUMER CALLED COMPLAINING ABOUT HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING PUMP. ALSO STATED THAT IT HAS BEEN REPLACE THREE DIFFERENT TIMES ON THE LAST SIX MONTHS AND NOW IT IS HAPPEND AGAIN FOR THE FORTH TIME. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE LEMON LAW WILL ONLY COVER THREE TIMES AND NOTHING ELSE. TS
WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED THE ENTIRE VEHICLE SHAKES SEVERELY. CAUSE UNKNOWN.*AK
THE BRAKES SHIMMIED AND SHUDDERED EXCESSIVELY WHEN APPLIED, SINCE THE VEHICLE PURCHASED. DEALER DIAGNOSED CAUSE AS DEFECTIVE ROTORS.*AK *CB *JB
ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED A PUMP ON 6/4/2003. ON 6/5/2003 THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN, BECAUSE THE DEALER INSTALLED THE WRONG PUMP, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM CONTINUED. *AK PH *JB
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE STEERING WHEEL "SHIMMERS" EXCESSIVELY WHEN DRIVING MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN VEHICLE CONTROL. DEALER DIAGNOSED CRACKED STEERING COLUMN. *AK
WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED THE VEHICLE SHAKES, AND DRIVER CAN HEAR METAL GRINDING. THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES NEED REPLACEMENT EVERY 30,000 MILES. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, THE FRONT END SHOOK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT ROTORS EIGHT TIMES, BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. THE DEALER DID NOT KNOW WHY THE ROTORS WERE WEARING OUT PREMATURELY. *AK THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT THE ROTORS COULD NOT BE FIXED PROPERLY BECAUSE OF THE SUBSTANDARD PARTS CHRYSLER USED. THE VEHICLE WOULD RIDE ROUGH AND THE BRAKES SEEMED TO SQUEAK ONLY WHEN IT RAINED. *SC *JB
