TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN INTO THE CARPORT AT HER RESIDENCE, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS DOWN THE HILL. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND TOWED TO RAMEY CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (127 FRAZIER DR, PRINCETON, WV 24739-7721, (304) 487-2151) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V447000 (POWER TRAIN) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000.
SERVICE SHIFTER LONG STANDING JEEP ISSUE
BROUGHT MY JEEP TRAILHAWK 2014 FOR RECALL SOFTWARE UPDATE FOR PTU SPLINE UPDATE! WHY BECAUSE THERE PTU UNIT IS DEFECTIVE! SOFTWARE DID NOT FIX ERROR MESSAGE? NOW MY JEEP IS ONLY 2WHEEL DRIVE NOT AWD! CHRYSLER WILL NOT REIMBURSE FOR THEIR MISTAKE! TOOK THEM 6 YEARS TO DO A CALL?
VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING IN THE MORNING OF 11/3/2020 TO WORK. I HAD JUST GONE UP A SMALL HILL INTO MY WORK PARKING LOT AND WAS GOING 10MPH OR LESS. I HAD JUST BEGUN TO PRESS ON THE BRAKE TO SLOW BEFORE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE WHEN I FELT MY VEHICLE LOSE POWER. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTED IT INTO PARK, MY CAR STALLED SO I TURNED THE IGNITION AND RESTARTED MY CAR. WHEN I SHIFTED IT INTO DRIVE AND BEGAN TO RELEASE MY FOOT OF THE BRAKE I FELT THE CAR SLIGHTLY ROLL BACK BEFORE THE GEAR SHIFTED INTO DRIVE.I PARKED MY CAR AND WENT INTO WORK. AFTER ONLINE RESEARCH, THERE WAS A RECALL (CHRYSLER RECALL NO. V69) ON 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE SUVS WITH A 3.6L ENGINES WITH THE SAME ISSUE REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE. MY VEHICLE IS A 2.4L ENGINE BUT HAD THE SAME EXACT PATTERN AS LISTED BY OTHER OWNERS SUCH AS RECENTLY FILLING UP THE GAS TANK AND IT GIVING A WARNING ON THE DASHBOARD SCREEN BUT HAVING NO WARNING LIGHTS OR OTHER INDICATORS THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP ON 11/4/2020 AND HAD THE SOFTWARE UPDATED. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION BY THE DEALERSHIP THEY CONCLUDED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS A FULL REPLACEMENT. I HAVE CONTACTED JEEP DIRECTLY AND THEY HAVE STATED THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON (X80- 9SPD TRANSMISSION) THAT EXPIRED IN AUGUST OF 2020. I NEVER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF THIS, OR OF THE NEED TO UPDATE THE TCM OR PCM.
While driving my 2014 jeep cherokee trailhawk, all power was lost, the power steering gave out and although I had vehicles behind me I was able to pull over to the side of the road safely. My daughter was also in the car with me. My jeep has has been sitting as a yard ornament in which I am still making payments on due to a failed PTU AFTER completing the software update that was issued as a recall. The total for the fix is well over three thousand dollars. WHY WONT JEEP FIX THIS? After researching, there are so many complaints regarding this same issue and after owning four jeeps total, this will be my last. Not only could this result in injury and or death, it can also cause damage to the transmission. Jeep refuses to fix their problem and like myself, will absolutely lose loyal jeep owners. I am ashamed of Jeep.
2014 JEEP - CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK - DIFFERENTIAL MALFUNCTIONING. THERE SEEM TO BE WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH THE DIFFERENTIAL MALFUNCTIONING. TOOK THE CAR FOR SERVICE AND THE MECHANIC FOUND THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL IS LEAKING FLUID ALL OVER. THEY CHECKED THE DIFFERENTIAL FLUID LEVEL AND NOTED EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF METAL PRESENT IN DIFF. AND FLUID THAT LEAKED. THIS MAKES THE CAR VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE WHEELS CAN LOCK ANYTIME. THEY CALLED THE DEALER FOR PARTS AND THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THEY HAVE BEEN SEEING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF CARS WITH SUCH ISSUES. THERE ARE SHORTAGE OF THE PART NATIONWIDE. MORE THAN 150 CASES REPORTED TO THE DEALER IN SANTA CRUZ. THE DEALER IS EXPECTING TO RECEIVE 50 PARTS AFTER 45 DAYS LEAVING MORE THAN 100 VEHICLES WITH NO SOLUTION. THE MECHANIC WAS IN SHOCK TO SEE THE EXCESSIVE DAMAGE AND DEEMED THE CAR AS A TICKING TIME BOMB. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL AND SUPPORT FOR THE CUSTOMERS WHO ARE NOT UNABLE TO USE THE CAR OR USE IT AND PUT THEIR LIFE AND OTHERS IN DANGER.
JEEP CHEROKEE 4X4 LIMITED (LESS THAN 61,000 MILES) WILL HAVE TRANSFER OF POWER BETWEEN FRONT WHEELS (4X4 NOT ENGAGED) AND DELAY OF POWER TRANSFER. FROM A COMPLETE STOP, POWER TRANSFERRED FROM LEFT TO RIGHT FRONT WHEEL MULTIPLE TIMES CAUSING THE VEHICLES TO SWERVE BACK AND FORTH. AFTERWARDS, A CONTINUOUS AUDIBLE GRINDING AND POPPING SOUND-MOST NOTABLE WHEN THE WHEELS ARE TURNED.
MY JEEP, AFTER GETTING GAS, STALLS OUT, WANTS TO JUMP INTO GEAR, STALL WHILE DRIVING, AND AT STOP LIGHTS WANTS TO STALL. I BELIEVE IT IS A COMPUTER PROBLEM THAT IS EFFECTING THE TRANSMISSION. AS THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE, IT SEEMS AS THOUGH WHEN THE COMPUTER HAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO RE-BOOT, A DAY LATER, IT SEEMS TO BE FINE. ALTHOUGH THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO "FIX" ITSELF, THERE STILL ISSUES WITH THE WAY THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND A RECALL ON THE ISSUE NEEDS TO TAKE PLACE.
AFTER FILLING UP MY CAR EVERYTIME IT SHUTS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND SWITCHES TO NEUTRAL. RPM SHOOTS UP RANDOMLY AND SHUTS OFF
WHILE DRIVING MY ENGINE LIGHT POPS ON AND ON MY SCREEN IT'S SAYS WHEN VEHICLE SLOWS TO A STOP PUT IN PARK AND SHIFT TO DESIRED GEAR. I WAS ON THE EWAY WHEN IT HAPPEN THE FIRST TIME GOING ABOUT 75. THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS ON A SIDE STREET GOING ABOUT 20MPH AND IT STALLED OUT AND THEN IT GAVE ME THE SAME MESSAGE. I TOOK IT TO JEEP THEY DID SOMETHING WITH THE COMPUTER PROBLEM WENT AWAY FOR A MONTH OR SO AND HAPPENS AGAIN. NOW I'M HAVING PROBLEMS EVERY WEEK AND EVERY TIME MY ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON IT SAYS SERVICE TRANSMISSION. THE ENGINE LIGHT DOESN'T STAY ON LONG IT COMES AND IT GOES. IT COMES ON WHEN I'M DRIVING FOR A WHILE OR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. SOMETIMES IT STAYS ON FOR DAYS AND OTHER TIMES IT GOES RIGHT OFF. IT'S DIFFERENT CODES FROM THE COMPUTER BUT ALL ARE DIFFERENT TRANSMISSIONS CODES. I HAVE 141,000 MILES ON MY TRUCK MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES.
WHEN DRIVING THE JEEP IT FEELS SLUGGISH AND APPEARS TO TRYING TO FIND A GEAR TO SHIFT TO. IT CLUNKS WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP. SOMETIMES THE TRANSMISSION TAKES A LONG TIME TO SHIFT AND THE RPMS GO TO ABOUT 3800 TO 4000 BEFORE IT WILL SHIFT. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL AND YEAR JEEP. HOW IS IT THAT THE GOVERNMENT ALLOWS AUTO COMPANIES TO GET AWAY WITH THIS. I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO HAVE THIS FIXED WHEN IT IS A MANUFACTURES PROBLEM. I AM SEEING MORE THAN ENOUGH COMPLAINTS TO WARRANT A RECALL OR TSB.
I HAVE A 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK, WITH 77,000. THE SERVICE 4WD LIGHT HAS CAME ON MULTIPLE TIMES. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THAT IT IS THE PTU AND NEEDS REPLACED AND WILL BE $2550. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR OF VEHICLE.
our mileage/odometer is flashing and states TSB. The TCM has been reprogrammed 3-4 times and still malfunctioning. Electrical issues through out cause stereo to not turn on sometimes and the all the sudden turn on its own. We have made complaints to the jeep and they said the recall have already been done they wont help us and then close our case with out any solutions. We have already spent 2000 or more fixing issues that don't help the problem. We completely replaced the shifter and the whole assembly that goes with it. We have had a quick learn done to the transmission. We still had codes popping for the TCM prior to the shifter going out. We have had codes come up for the drive train and where told that recall was already done and we still have issues. We are at a loss here and dont know what else to do. We have only got this car a little over a year ago and have reported problems since day one.
ACCELERATING LAG WHEN YOU MAKE A TURN, IT ALSO HESITATES WHEN YOU ACCELERATE. IT'S JERKING WHILE ACCELERATING AND IT COULD BE DANGEROUS IN THE ROAD.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT POPPED ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT 40PMH ON A CITY STREET. DROVE THE 2 MILES HOME AND PARKED VEHICLE, TURNED OFF ENGINE AND BACK ON AND IT DISAPPEARED. LESS THAT 40,000 MILES ON VEHICLE.
AS I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOSES POWER AND STOPS. THE VEHICLE TUGS AND PULLS BACK AS I AM DRIVING AND THEN LOSES POWER AND INDICATES ME TO SHIFT TO PARK. ON SOME OCCASION'S THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD.
IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS EVERY TIME I GO TURN ON THE CAR, IT SEEMS AS UF THE THE STRUGGLES TO START. SO, WHEN I TURN THE KEY TO THE MIDDLE POSITION THEN TURN IT HARD OVER, THE CAR WILL START. IF MAY TAKE ONE TIME OR SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE CAR STARTED. NOT BATTERY BECAUSE WINDOWS ROLL DOWN, RADIO COMES ON, AND SO ON. AS OF TODAY IT SEEM THERE IS NO CONNECTION HAPPENING.
THE "SERVICE SHIFTER" WARNING COMING UP DURING DRIVE OR WHEN PARKED, THE ENGINE REFUSE TO START OR THE GEAR REFUSE TO SHIFT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT'S VERY NONDETERMINISTIC AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAIL HAWK HAS HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH IT NOT SHIFTING INTO GEAR, BEING "CONFUSED" AFTER COMING TO A STOP AND NOT SHIFTING INTO THE PROPER GEAR. WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AFTER A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN VEHICLE WILL NOT GO WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS ENGAGED, THEN AFTER A FEW SECONDS IT UNEXPECTANTLY LUNGES FORWARD INTO GEAR AND INTO TRAFFIC. ALL RECALLS HAVE POINTED TO THIS BEING A "SOFTWARE" ISSUE AND I HAVE HAD ALL SOFTWARE RECALLS COMPLETED ON THE TRANSMISSION AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE AND CONTINUES TO HAVE IT ON A DAILY BASIS. RECENTLY THIS ISSUE CASED THE 4WD UNAVAILABLE LIGHT TO GO OFF, AND NOW THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT IN 4WD LOW. AFTER MULTIPLE TRIPS TO THE DEALER THE CONSENSUS IS THAT THE BATTER IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY EVEN THOUGH IT IS OPERATING AT THE PROPER CURRENT AND VOLTAGE.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while attempting to shift gear, the vehicle made an abnormal sound coming from the gear selector. The contact stated that the transmission warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was diagnosed but not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V447000 (Power Train) however, the Vin was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
SERVICE SHIFTER MESSAGE AND GEAR LIGHTS ALL TURN RED. KEEPS HAPPENING WHILE IN MOTION.
WHEN IDLING OR STOPPED IN TRAFFIC OR A STOP SIGN THE CAR SHAKES, LUNGES AND STALLS AFTER FILLING UP WITH FUEL. THE DEALER HAS NO IDEA, SINCE NO CODES ARE SHOWN. AFTER ABOUT 25 MILES OF DRIVING AND LOWERING THE FUEL LEVEL I HAVE NO MORE ISSUES UNTIL THE NEXT FILL UP. WHILE AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE VEHICLE STALLED AND I PUT IT IN PARK TO RESTART IT AND IT DIDN'T REGISTER THAT IT WAS IN PARK AND MESSAGE FLASHED TO PUT IN PARK.
THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL/POWER MODULE ASSEMBLY MADE FROM CAST IRON SPLIT ALONG A CASTING FAULT AND LOST ALMOST ALL OF ITS FLUID. I ONLY DISCOVERED THIS WHEN I NOTICED A LARGE PUDDLE OF FLUID ON MY DRIVEWAY AND THE SERVICE 4WD LIGHT CANE ON WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY LOCAL SERVICE STATION AND THEY HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE, BUT HAD LOCATED SIMILAR STORIES ONLINE WITH EVEN WORSE PICTURES SAME VEHICLE YEAR AND MILEAGE (101,000 MI). SUGGESTED I CALL JEEP DEALER AND CHRYSLER. I CALLED BOTH AND THEY WOULD NOT CONTRIBUTE ANYTHING TOWARD THE REPAIR. THIS VEHICLE WAS NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT OR ABUSED IN ANY WAY. I FEEL THIS IS AN OBVIOUS MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED UNDER A RECALL. IF THIS HAD OCCURRED AT HIGH SPEED I ALSO FEEL IT COULD HAVE BEEN QUITE DANGEROUS.
MY FIANCE AND I WERE INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT WITH A PARKED RV MY FIANCE WAS DRIVING TOWARDS THE TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE THE CAR SHIFTED GOING FORWARD AND CAUSING US TO CRASH AGAINST THE RV
ATTEMPTING TO FILL GAS TANK AT GAS STATION. GAS TANK AT ABOUT 1/4 FULL. GAS PUMP REPEATEDLY SHUTS OFF WHILE FILLING ABOUT EVERY 0.1 GALLON. IT TAKES 10-15 MINUTES TO FILL THE TANK. THIS FIRST HAPPENED JANUARY 2020 BUT PROBLEM WENT AWAY AFTER SEVERAL FILL UPS. I HAVE THE PROBLEM AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER 2020. STILL HAPPENING. I LIVE IN NORTHWEST OHIO.
I WAS DRIVING AND WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE WAS GOING ABOUT 42 AND MY CAR DROPPED THE GEAR AND MY CAR IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 38MPH AND THE CAR BEHIND ME ALMOST SLAMMED INTO THE REAR OF THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. I HAVE CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP ON MANY OCCASIONS AND THEY TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG AND I BRING IT TO OTHER MECHANICS AND THEY TELL ME THEY HAVE ISSUES ALL THE TIME WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF THIS VEHICLE. I DRIVE WITH A SMALL CHILD IN THE CAR AND I FEEL COMPLETELY UNSAFE. I AM SO FURIOUS WITH MY JEEP DEALERSHIP LOCATED ON ROUTE 88 IN BRICK NEW JERSEY. NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY. MY SECOND ISSUE IS WITH THE LUG SCREWS IN THE TIRES THEY KEEP BECOMING 'SWOLLEN' AFTER REPLACING THEM CONSTANTLY I WAS TOLD YET AGAIN THEY NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THEY ARE NOT CHEAP TO KEEP REPLACING. AND LAST MY AIR BAGS CENSOR HAS BEEN REPLACED AT LEAST TWICE THE DRIVER AIRBAG CENSOR KEEPS POPPING UP ON MY DASHBOARD.
CAR BUCKS AND STALLS AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS. FOUR TIMES TO THE DEALER AND THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. FINALLY, DRIVING CAR STALLED IN TRAFFIC. MADE IT TO THE DEALER. THEY WERE ABLE TO FINALLY SEE THE PROBLEM AS NO CODES WERE GOING OFF BEFORE. CAR WAS IN MOTION AND STALLED. RESTARTED,THEN STALLED AT THE RED LIGHT. SO IT STALLED WHILE MOVING AND STATIONARY.
MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE WILL STALL UNEXPECTEDLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE ACCELERATING AND/OR TURNING AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DESCRIBED IT AS FOLLOWS "THE STALLING IS A SAFETY FEATURE WHEN THE OIL GETS LOW". THE DEALERSHIP CHECKED THE OIL AND IT WAS VERY LOW. THIS IS A REPEATED PROBLEM AND HAPPENS BEFORE THE RECOMMENDED 5000 MILES OIL CHANGE FREQUENCY. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, THE "OIL LIFE" SCREEN SAID I HAD 28% OIL LIFE LEFT ( I HAD BEEN FOLLOWING IT TO AVOID STALLING OUT UNEXPECTEDLY.... WHICH DIDN'T HELP AND I ONCE AGAIN STALLED AT A RED LIGHT IN TRAFFIC). MY MAIN SAFETY CONCERN IS THE FACT THAT THERE IS NO INDICATOR LIGHT FOR LOW OIL, AND THE FIRST INDICATION IS MY CAR STALLING OUT IN TRAFFIC WHICH COULD CAUSE A WRECK. THIS CAN'T BE SAFE NOR MEET SAFETY GUIDELINES/REQUIREMENTS. MY SECOND CONCERN IS THE FACT THAT MY ENGINE IS BURNING OFF THAT MUCH OIL SO QUICKLY (VERIFIED TO HAVE NO LEAKS IN THE SYSTEM). WHEN SEARCHING THE INTERNET, I HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE STATING THEY ALSO HAD NO INDICATION EXCEPT FOR THE SUDDEN STALLING OUT. I FEEL THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE FULLY INVESTIGATED AS A SAFETY CONCERN. IT SEEMS TO HAVE AT LEAST ENOUGH OF A CASE TO BE A LAWSUIT IN TWO STATES (CALIFORNIA AND MICHIGAN) AT THE TIME OF ME WRITING THIS- SEP2020.
WHILE TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF 45MPH IN THE CITY THE GEAR SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND INFORMED ME TO PUT THE CAR INTO "P" AFTER DOING SO I TRIED TO START THE VEHICLE BUT IT WAS INOPERABLE AND THE MESSAGE "SERVICE THE SHIFTER" APPEARED ON THE DASH WITH ALL LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER ILLUMINATED
WHILE DRIVING MY 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE A WARNING SHOWED UP WHERE THE MILES WOULD BE SAYING SERVICE SHIFTER. THEN ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON ON THE GEAR SHIFT THE P N R AND D LIGHT WERE ALL ON I HAD TO PULL OVER PARK CUT THE CAR OFF AND THEN ONCE I TURNED IT BACK ON IT WENT BACK TO NORMAL

THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,700.

THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE CONTACT INQUIRED ABOUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WAS INFORMED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000.
MY 2014 2.4L JEEP CHEROKEE IS SHIFTING OUT OF GEAR WHEN MAKING A TURN AND LOOSES POWER. WHEN IT SHIFTS OUT OF GEAR (OR INTO NEUTRAL) THE GEAR SHIFT LIGHT WILL COME ON. THE GEAR SHIFTIER WILL NOT HAVE MOVED AND STILL BE IN DRIVE! ENGINE HAS TO BE SHUT OFF AND THEN I HAVE TO TRY ABOUT THREE TIME TO GET IT TO START AGAIN, AND IT WILL NOT START UP LIKE NORMAL. IT STARTS UP LIKE IT IS TRYING TO GET THE ENGINE MOTIVATED INTO MOVEMENT. WHEN I AM ABLE TO RESTART THE JEEP THE GEAR SHIFT LIGHT WILL NO LONGER BE ON. IT IS THE SECOND TIME TO HAPPEN IN A WEEK.
I WAS DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY AND THE JEEP STOP COMPLETELY WITH THE PARKING AUTOMATICALLY AND IN THE BOARD WAS BLINKING TRANSMISSION SERVICE, LITERALLY THE TRUCK WENT CRAZY I COULDN'T MOVE THE TRUCK IN THE HIGHWAYS THANKS GOD THEIR WERE NOT TO MUCH PEOPLE IN THE ROAD. I GOT TO DO A RESEARCH AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME COMPLAIN AND THE SAME PROBLEM ON THEIR JEEP CHEROKEE.
WE BOUGHT THE CAR USED ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. PERIODICALLY IT STALLS AND WILL NOT GO FORWARD. IT HAS HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY DON'T SHOW ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY SO YOU CAN REALLY SHOW THE TECHNICIAN WHAT IT IS DOING BUT NOTHING SHOWS UP WHEN THEY RUN THE DIAGNOSTICS. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR THE 2014 JEEP CHEROKEE. I HAVE SEEN COMPLAINTS FROM 2015 FORWARD. WHEN IT STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WE HAVE TO FIND A PLACE TO STOP AND TURN IT OFF. USUALLY IT WILL CORRECT ITSELF WHEN IT IS RESTARTED. CLEARLY THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. I DON'T KNOW IF JEEP CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM OR WON'T FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 10 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 YEARS.
60K MILES AND TRANSMISSION HAS WENT OUT
ENGINE DISENGAGES WHEN RPN INCREASES AND STRESS INCREASE, AS DRIVING UP A HILL OR INCREASING SPEED.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, SERVICE SHIFTER WARNING DISPLAYED AND ALL INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE LIT (PARK, NEUTRAL, REVERSE, DRIVE). THIS CAUSED PANIC AND THE DRIVER PULLED OVER TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE. A DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSIS IS SHORT IN WIRING. THIS MANUFACTURER DEFECT HAS CAUSED WRECKS AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BY JEEP.
AGAIN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS IS OUR 2ND ENGINE AND THE DEALER SAYS IT IS THIS NEW ENGINE THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE JEEP WILL IDLE ROUGH, SHIFT ON IT'S OWN, ALL THE SAME TRANSMISSION ISSUES. AND NOW THE PARKING BRAKE LOCKED UP AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED HOME. I ASSUME IT IS THE TRANSIMISSION BECAUSE IT STILL WILL THROW IT IN NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING.
THE SUV WOULD NOT START FIRST THING IN THE MORNING AS I WAS HEADING TO WORK. JUMP STARTED IN THE AFTERNOON AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SHUT OFF, GEARS WOULD NOT HOLD AND COULD NOT GO INTO PARK OR NEUTRAL. I WAS TRYING TO MAKE IT TO THE BATTERY REPLACEMENT CENTER AND GET A NEW BATTERY INSTALLED RIGHT AWAY. INSTEAD I HAD TO PUT THE HAND BRAKE ON AS THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP AND GOT IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR NEW BATTERY INSTALL. I WAS ENDANGERING MYSELF AND OTHERS IN THIS SITUATION. THERE WAS NO INDICATION ABOUT I NEEDING A NEW BATTERY PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT.
THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AS WE ENTERED INTO AN INTERSECTION. HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN CHECKED FOR THE PAST RECALL SOME TIME AGO. THE DEALERSHIP TELLS US ITS A SENSOR THAT IS FAILING. STILL WAITING ON PARTS.

THE CONTACT CONTINUED DRIVING TO HER DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER PREFERRED CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (3146 HENRY ST, MUSKEGON, MI 49441, (231)733-4401) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH NEEDING THE TRANSMISSION AND UNKNOWN ROD OF THE REAR END TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 44,000.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN A HILL THE CAR DINGED AND IT SAID SERVICE TRANSMISSION, WHEN I WAS ON FLAT ROAD AFTER THE HILL THE CAR WAS NOT SHIFTING GEARS ITS LIKE IT WAS STUCK IN A HIGHER GEAR, IF I SLOWED DOWN IT ALL IT WOULD JERK AND SPUTTER TILL I GOT IT GOING A LIL FASTER, BUT IT WOULD STILL NOT CHANGE GEARS
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN CAME TO A STOP AT A STOPLIGHT AND THE CAR GAVE A COUPLE CHUGS THEN DIED. IT SAID SERVICE TRANSMISSION, SERVICE PARK BREAK, SHIFT TO P THEN DESIRED GEAR. TOOK IT TO JEEP HAD THE RECALL DONE, THE VERY FIRST TIME I STARTED THE CAR AFTER GETTING IT BACK FROM JEEP THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT DOWNSHIFT INTO A GEAR LOWER THAN 3RD. JEEP SAID IT WAS A BAD VALVE BODY, I HAVE ATTACHED THE WORK ORDER FROM JEEP THAT SAYS IT IS INOPERABLE. I ALSO ATTACHED THE NHTSA SAFETY RECALL THAT STATES THAT THE VALVE BODY WILL BECOME INOPERABLE. JEEP DENIED REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE FIX OF THE PART WE ARE JUST REQUESTING THAT THEY REIMBURSE FOR THIS BASED ON THE SAFETY RECALL.
I NEED TO PUT OIL IN MY CAR AT LEAST TWO TIMES IN BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. MY CAR HAS STOPPED MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN I TURN BECAUSE IT RAN OUT OF OIL. THE ENGINE BURNS OIL SO FAST. I DON'T DRIVE THAT MUCH. THIS IS EXPENSIVE AND VERY VERY DANGEROUS. THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.

I AM GETTING RANDOM SOFTWARE TRANSMISSION ISSUES. SOMETIMES THE CAR POWER FADES WHEN DRIVING ON MAJOR ROADS TO A STOP SO I HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR. I NOW AVOID DRIVING ON FREEWAYS BECAUSE OF THIS. SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING ON MAIN ROADS I GET A MESSAGE TO SAY THAT I HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN "PARK" TO CHANGE GEAR WHEN I WAS JUST DRIVING IN D AND DID NOT WANT TO CHANGE ANYWAY AS IT WAS IN AUTOMATIC NOT MANUAL. WHICH I DO NOT USE. AFTER THE MESSAGE THE CAR LOSES POWER AND I HAVE TO STOP TO PUT THE CAR IN "PARK" TO RESTART THE CAR TO CONTINUE ON MY JOURNEY, SOMETIMES I HAVE NO ISSUES. I HAVE REPORTED ISSUES PREVIOUSLY ABOUT THE CAR LOSING POWER WHICH WERE CLAIMED TO HAVE BEEN FIXED AFTER A RECALL FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES. THIS CAR IS CURRENTLY UNSTABLE, UNPREDICTABLE, UNRELIABLE AND DANGEROUS. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY AND RELUCTANT TO DRIVE THE CAR ANYWHERE. I FEEL UNEASY AS I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT. I HAVE NOTIFIED THE DEALER PREVIOUSLY AND TODAY BUT I NEED THIS ISSUE ESCALATED. I HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE USE OF A CAR (MY WIFE'S) WHICH I DRIVE TO AVOID THE ABOVE SAFETY CONCERNS AND PROBLEMS.
SERVICE SHIFTER LIGHT CAME ON AND CONTINUES TO COMES ON A LEAST ONCE A WEEK
CAR STALLS OUT WHILE DRIVING AFTER FILLING GAS TANK (NOT TOPPING IT OFF). TRANSMISSION LIGHT COMES ON, ALL WARNINGS COME ON, AND CAR LOCKS UP. SOMETIMES YOU CANNOT PUT IT IN GEAR, AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP. IT WILL SAY "SHIFT TO PARK," BUT YOU CANNOT ALWAYS DO THAT. SOMETIMES WHEN IT STALLS IT WILL STILL BE RUNNING, BUT WILL JUST GO OUT OF GEAR. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, AND CHRYSLER WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. YESTERDAY, I WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED THREE TIMES ON AN INTERSTATE IN ATLANTA WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY STALLED WHILE I WAS IN MOTION. HERE IS WHAT ONE MECHANIC SAID: YOUR VEHICLE HAS AN ISSUE WITH VENTILATION FROM THE FUEL PUMP, THE GAS HAS NOWHERE ELSE TO GO BUT GET SUCKED UP TOWARDS THE ENGINE. THE PUMP IS FAILING, THE CHARCOAL CANISTER IS FULL OF FUEL, THE EVAP SYSTEM INTEGRITY MODULE IS FULL OF FUEL AND THE PURGE IS PUSHING FUEL INTO THE INTAKE WHICH IS DROWNING THE MOTOR AND SHUTTING IT OFF. HE SAID IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE, AND THAT HE HAS SEEN THIS WITH THE EXACT MAKE AND MODEL OF THE CAR. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY CAR, AND IT ONLY HAS 36,000 MILES ON IT. I, OR SOMEONE ELSE, WILL BE KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. THIS STARTED WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND IT TOOK OVER A YEAR TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON. WE HAVE SINCE CALLED CHRYSLER EVERY DAY TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR, AND NO ONE WILL RETURN OUR CALLS. THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE SITUATION, THE SEVERITY OF THE SITUATION, AND OUR CONCERNS. THEY SAID TO CONTACT YOU.
ON 2 OCCASSIONS MY VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING/IN MOTION AND TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED ALMOST CAUSING A SERIOUS MVA. ALL LIGHTS ON THE SHIFTER TURNED ON AND THE A "SERVICE SHIFTER" MESSAGE APPEARED ON SCREEN. I TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE TO ROUTE 18 JEEP OF EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ. THE DEALER RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TESTS AND FOUND THE TIPM COMPUTER MALFUNCTIONED. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THE PREVIOUS YEAR JEEP/ CRYSLER MODES HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AND A RECALL WAS ISSUED ON THE TIPM. CONCERNING AS THIS ISSUE MAY CAUSE SERIOUS MVA AND JEOPARDIZE SAFETY.
