1 DAY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE (JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK) WHILE TURNING INTO TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AND LOST ALL ENGINE AND STEERING AND WAS COMPLETELY DISABLED IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE TRANSMISSION CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, PARKING BRAKE WARNING, AND LOSS OF 4-WHEEL DRIVE WARNINGS ALL CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY IMMOBILE AND HIGHLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. CHRYSLER/JEEP HAS ADVISED THEY DON'T KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM AND HAVE OFFERED SEVERAL FIXES, BUT THEY CAN NOT GUARANTEE ANY OF THEM WILL FIX THE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MULTIPLE INCIDENTS OF WHEN APPLYING BRAKES, THE TACHOMETER WOULD INCREASE AS THE JEEP DOWN SHIFTED AND THE JEEP WOULD LEAP FORWARD. INCREASE IN SPEED. DELAYS IN THE IGNITION SWITCH WHEN STARTING. WHEN APPLYING THE GAS, THE JEEP WOULD HAVE A 5 - 10 SECOND DELAY IN RESPONSE AND SLOW DOWN INSTEAD OF INCREASING THE SPEED. AS DAYS PAST, THE INCIDENTS WITH THE JEEP LEAPING FORWARD WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE GOT WORSE AND IT GOT TO BE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. ALMOST REAR ENDED A FEW PEOPLE. HAD TO HAVE JEEP TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE COMPUTER UPGRADE THAT CAME OUT IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR WAS NOT APPLIED TO THIS JEEP BEFORE IT WAS SOLD TO ME.
A CAR TURNED LEFT AS I WAS GOING STRAIGHT AND STRUCK ME AT THE FRONT LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE IMPACT BROKE MY TIRED COMPLETELY OFF THE VEHICLE SMASHING BOTH THE FRONT AND THE ENTIRE SIDE OF MY CAR WITH ENOUGH DAMAGE FOR ME TO HAVE TO KICK MY DOOR MULTIPLE TIMES IN ORDER TO EXIT THE CAR. AFTER THE FIRST IMPACT I LOST CONTROL SINCE A TIRE WAS MISSING AND THE VEHICLE HIT A SEMI TRUCK HEAD ON. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CAR IS TOTALED AND HAS FRAME DAMAGE. I CONTACTED JEEP AND THEY HAVE SINCE DONE AN INVESTIGATION AND TOLD ME I WAS NOT GOING FAST ENOUGH FOR AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY AND ARE NOW NOT RETURNING MY CALLS. WHEN THE INVESTIGATOR CALLED ME AFTER HE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE HE WAS SHOCKED THAT I SAID THE CAR WAS TOTALED. THE CAR WAS BRAND NEW I HAD IT FOR 15 DAYS. THERE WAS A RECALL PERFORMED ON THE AIR BAGS THE DAY BEFORE AND WHEN REVIEWING THE RECEIPT SHOWED THAT THEY WORKED ON THE CAR FOR LESS THAN 15 MINS BUT HAD MY CAR FOR 6 HOURS? STATING THE RECALL WAS PREVIOUSLY PERFORMED EVEN THOUGH WHEN I BROUGHT MY CAR IN TO HAVE A SECURITY SYSTEM INSTALLED FEW DAYS PRIOR THEY SAID THE RECALL NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED AND I SET THE APPOINTMENT UP. THERE IS NO WAY I WAS NOT GOING FAST ENOUGH TO HAVE MY SAFETY FEATURES WORK IN MY BRAND NEW VEHICLE BUT I WAS GOING FAST ENOUGH FOR MY AXLE TO SNAP AND MY TIRE TO BECOME DISCONNECTED FROM THE VEHICLE. JEEP WILL NOT RETURN MY CALLS SO I MUST TAKE FURTHER ACTION. PLEASE ASSIST ME AND TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY NO ONE SHOULD FEEL UNSAFE IN THEIR VEHICLES.
TRANSMISSION HAS ALWAYS BEEN WITH PROBLEMS, IT HAS BEEN IN SERVICE FOR 3 TIMES AND FOR THE LAST ONE HAS BEEN THERE FOR 3 WEEKS, I'M STILL WAITING FOR A SOLUTION. VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALER WAITING FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. I SAW ALL THE STORIES ONLINE ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES IN THIS VEHICLE AND DECIDED I SHOULD ALSO REPORT MY EXPERIENCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND APPROACHING A STOP, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE ALSO FAILED TO ACCELERATE UP A HILL AT 60 MPH. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000. UPDATED 11/09/15*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED AT 5,000, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DID NOT RESPOND. ALSO, THE VEHICLE STALLED AT INTERSECTIONS. UPDATED 12/24/15. *JB
AFTER PURCHASING MY JEEP IN JANUARY, I ENCOUNTERED HIGH RPM'S ON DOWNSHIFT AND ACCELERATION DURING LOW SPEED BRAKING. I BROUGHT IT INTO THE ORIGINATING DEALER WHERE THEY RE-LOADED SOFTWARE RELATING TO THE ISSUE. I DROVE IT FOR 3 MONTHS WITH THE SAME ISSUES. I AGAIN BROUGHT IT INTO THE ORIGINATING DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD 3 WEEK SERVICE BACK UP AND TO TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALER. I DID SO. THE NEW DEALER GRATUITOUSLY TOOK ME IN AND KEPT THE CAR FOR 3 DAYS. THEY ALSO ERASED THE COMPUTER AND RE-LOADED SOFTWARE THAT WAS MEANT TO FIX THE ANOMALIES. I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I THEN WROTE FCA BUT RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. MY PLANS ARE TO BRING IT BACK TO THE LATER DEALER ON MY NEXT OIL CHANGE AND HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT AGAIN. MY LARGER CONCERN IS THAT I MAY HAVE A RAPID ACCELERATION EXPERIENCE AND HIT ANOTHER CAR OR PEDESTRIAN. DURING THE DOWN SHIFT. BASICALLY, I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO KEEP MY MIND ON THE PROBLEM. IN ALL MY DRIVING YEARS (MANY), I HAVE NEVER HAD SUCH A PROBLEM WITHOUT A FIX.
WHEN SLOWING DOWN IN TRAFFIC OR STARTING A STEP GRADE THE TRANSMISSION BOGGS DOWN AND THEN SLAMS INTO A LOWER GEAR CAUSING A SUDDEN AND INSTANT SPEED AS IF YOU WERE TRYING TO DRAG RACE FROM A STOP SIGN. OFTEN CAUSING LOSS OF TRACTION AND FORCING THE WHEELS TO SPIN OUT. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS TIMES WHERE I ALMOST REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AT 4 WAY STOPS OR IN CONSTRUCTION ZONES. THE AXEL ALSO WOBBLE UPON STARTING OUT, MAINLY IN 2ND GEAR. ONE TIME WHILE ON A DIRT ROAD THE FORCE OF THE ECELLERATION PUT ME OFF THE ROAD. AFTER MY 4TH ATTEMPT TO HAVE A REPAIR DONE, THEY EXCHANGED THE INNER PORTION OF THE TRANSMISSION, THE VEHICLE NOW PERFORMS THIS ACTION ALMOST EVERY TIME I COME TO A STOP OR SLOW DOWN TO 5 TO 7 MPH AND THEN APPLY THE GAS AGAIN. NO GRADUALLY ECELLERATION AVAILABLE IN THIS VEHICLE. I WON'T ALLOW MY WIFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD HAVING TO GIVE MIN. OF 3 CAR LENGTHS SO AS TO NOT ENDANGER OTHERS ON THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 5 TIMES IN 5 MONTHS FOR THIS ISSUE AND STILL NOT CORRECTED. BOTH AXEL HAVE BEEN REPLACED ON THE FRONT OF THE JEEP AND NUMEROUS COMPUTER UPGRADES. MY SERVICE MANAGER STATED TO ME HE HAD 4 OTHERS IN HIS SHOP IN ONE DAY WAITING FOR A FIX AND ANOTHER DEALER IN TEXAS HAS 35. MY BEST FRIEND WORKS AS A SALESMAN FOR THE LOCAL DEALER AND SAID THEY ARE TOWED IN FOR THIS PROBLEM MULTIPLE TIMES A WEEK. WHEN ASKING HIS MANAGER WHAT TO SAY TO NEW BUYERS HE WAS TOLD THAT'S WHAT A WARRANTY IS FOR. MY JEEP WAS TAKEN INTO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR COMPUTER UPGRADE FOR THE TRANSMISSION BEFORE I EVEN BOUGHT IT.

WHILE DRIVING 45-50 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SWITCHING GEARS VERY HARD AND THE TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (NORTHWEST CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM, 19616 NORTHWEST FWY, HOUSTON, TX 77065) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS NEEDED. THE FAILURE RECURRED A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES, AND EACH TIME THE DEALER GAVE THE SAME REPLY. THE CONTACT FOUND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V529000 (POWER TRAIN) AND STATED THAT THE SYMPTOMS WERE IDENTICAL, BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THEY COULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASH INFORMATION SCREEN. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY, DRIVING 60 MPH. IT FELT AS THOUGH THE CAR WAS SLOWING DOWN AND UNRESPONSIVE TO MY ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE. ONCE I EXITED THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR DIDN'T RESPOND TO ATTEMPTS TO ACCELERATE WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN. IT FELT AS THOUGH IT WERE COASTING. I CAME TO A STOP AND REQUIRED A TOW TRUCK TO GET THE VEHICLE BACK TO DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I WAS LATER TOLD THERE WOULD BE A LIKELIHOOD OF NEEDING A NEW TRANSMISSION. SOMETHING WITH REGARD TO THE 8TH GEAR NOT ENGAGING DUE TO SOME ISSUE WITH THE SOLENOID. THAT ISSUE IS WHAT CAUSED THE GEAR TO NOT ENGAGE. ACCORDING TO THE PRE-ASSESSMENT BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THE SERVICE ADVISOR INDICATED THIS WAS A FAILURE THAT JEEP IS FAMILIAR WITH. PRIOR TO TODAY, I HAD EXPERIENCED A SENSATION OF THE VEHICLE TRYING TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE GAS PEDDLE WASN'T BRING DEPRESSED. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DECELERATE, IT WOULD ATTEMPT TO LUNGE FORWARD AGAINST MY ATTEMPTS TO BRAKE. *TR
MY 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE, AND APPARENTLY HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS OF OTHERS FROM 2014 AND 2015, HAVE FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS. I NEEDED A REPLACEMENT AT ONLY 6000 MILES AND I'VE HEARD WORSE STORIES ON VARIOUS WEB SITES. THE NEW TRANSMISSION IS NOT MUCH BETTER YET JEEP/CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM AND CONTINUES TO SELL THE CARS. SOMEONE SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS AS SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED WHEN THEIRJEEP STALLS OR JUST STOPS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
MY CAR HAS A WOBBLE BETWEEN THE 2ND AND 3RD GEAR AFTER A STOP. IT STARTED SHORTLY AFTER DELIVERY AND IT WENT AWAY AT EXACTLY 1200 MILES AND IS BACK SINCE I HIT 1800 MILES. I CAN REPLICATE IT AFTER EVERY STOP .. IF YOU DRIVE SLOWLY AFTER A STOP. IF YOU HIT THE GAS PADDLE IT GOES TOO QUICK THRU THE GEARS AND YOU WON'T NOTICE IT BUT I CAN'T DO A RACE AFTER EVERY STOP AND WASTE GAS. IF YOU NORMAL START DRIVING AFTER A STOP YOU FEEL THE WOBBLE FROM LEFT TO THE RIGHT.
MY HUSBAND AND I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE TRAILHAWK. 2 WEEKS AFTER OWNING OUR BRAND NEW CAR THAT WE PURCHASED BECAUSE WE WERE EXPECTING A BABY AND WANTED TO HAVE A SAFE RELIABLE VEHICLE WE STARTED HAVING SHIFTING PROBLEMS AND ELECTRICAL ISSUES. WE BROUGHT IN THE VEHICLE MULTIPLE TIMES (4 TIMES) AND ALTHOUGH WE WERE TOLD THAT IT MIGHT BE TRANSMISSION RELATED ISSUES BUT THEN AS SOON AS CHRYSLER GOT INVOLVED WE WERE TOLD OUR VEHICLE IS PERFECTLY FINE. NOTHING WAS EVER FIXED UNTIL MY HUSBAND AND I WENT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP. THE NEW DEALERSHIP FIXED THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS BUT SAID EVERYTHING WITH THE TRANSMISSION IS NORMAL. THE CAR MAKES SHUDDER MOTIONS, SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE AS I'M TRYING TO GET ONTO THE FREEWAY AND IT SHIFTS VERY JERKY. WE HAVE OWNED A JEEP BEFORE WHICH DID NOT DO THAT. WE ARE SO DISAPPOINTMENT HOW CHRYSLER IS RESPONDING TO KNOWN TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND NOT DOING ANY RECALLS ON TRANSMISSION RELATED ISSUES. WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE WE WANTED A SAFE VEHICLE FOR THE FAMILY. HOWEVER, AFTER THE LATEST TCM UPDATE THE SHIFTING HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND IT DOESN'T FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE YET CHRYSLER WON'T DO ANYTHING AS WE ARE BEING TOLD THIS IS NORMAL.
THE VEHICLE IS A 3.2 L ENGINE EQUIPPED WITH STOP/START. WHEN I STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 45 MINUTES WITH NO INCIDENTS, THE STOP/START SYSTEM DISABLED. WHILE CONTINUING ONTO THE HIGHWAY THE TRANSMISSION REMAINED IN A LOWER GEAR AND THE TACHOMETER WAS ABOUT 4500 AT 50MPH. IT WAS SHIFTING ERRATICALLY AT THIS POINT. TURNING THE ENGINE OFF RESET IT. IT DROVE NORMALLY FOR 5 MINS THEN THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FOLLOWING DAY AND FOUND I NEED THE 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION REPLACED. *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 1,000 MILES. DEALER REPLACED WITH A REDESIGNED VERSION. I STARTED TO GET A WOBBLE IN THE FRONT END WHILE I WAS ACCELERATING. I BROUGHT IT BACK AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THEY WERE REDESIGNING THE FRONT AXLES BUT THE FIX WASN'T OUT YET. A FEW WEEKS LATER THE METAL FRAME IN MY SUNROOF BROKE AND THE WEATHER STRIPPING FELL OUT AND I COULDN'T CLOSE THE SHADE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE ENTIRE SUNROOF ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE FRAME WAS DEFECTIVE. THE WOBBLE CONTINUED TO GET WORSE AND THE CAR WAS SHIFTING ROUGHER THAN EVER. I KEPT TELLING THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG, AND THEY SAID "THAT'S HOW THE NEW 9 SPEED TRANS BEHAVE". WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR THE SUNROOF REPLACEMENT I ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT THE WOBBLE AND TRANS AGAIN, AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE FRONT AXLE WAS INDEED BAD. THEY PUT IN THE REDESIGNED AXLES, AND REPLACED THE ENTIRE SUNROOF. I CONTINUE TO HAVE SERIOUS TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND THEY PUT IN A NEW VALVE BODY AND UPDATED THE SOFTWARE. IT'S WORSE THAN EVER. I KEPT COMPLAINING TO JEEP AND ALL THEY SAID WAS "THE DEALERSHIP CAN'T REPLICATE YOUR PROBLEM." I ACTUALLY HAD THE SERVICE MANAGER IN THE CAR WITH ME AND HE VERIFIED THAT THE CAR DOES NOT DRIVE PROPERLY- AND WHEN JEEP CALLED ME, THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO GO TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. IT HESITATES WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS, THEN IT JERKS VERY HARD INTO SECOND GEAR, IT WILL ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN BECAUSE IT CAN'T FIND A GEAR TO DOWNSHIFT, AND THE ENGINE WILL SPONTANEOUSLY REV ON IT'S OWN IF I AM DESCENDING A HILL AND ITS TRYING TO DOWNSHIFT. THE CAR WILL LEAP FORWARD AND ACCELERATE UNTIL I PRESS THE BRAKE HARD ENOUGH TO SLOW IT DOWN AND IT WILL FINALLY SHIFT. THE RPMS WILL GO UP FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AFTER I'VE APPLIED THE BRAKE. THE VEHICLE ALSO ROLLS SEVERAL INCHES AFTER I PUT IT IN PARK NOW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER ON FOUR OCCASIONS WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. IN A MOST RECENT OCCASION, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE MODULE AND THE WIRING HARNESS WERE REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED, BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,500.
AFTER DOING THE JEEP CHEROKEE POWER TRAIN RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION MY CAR WOULD ONLY DRIVE FROM A FLAT SURFACE TO A HILL AT 20 MPH AND THEN DRIFT SLOWLY DOWN SPEED WISE. AFTER GETTING TO A FLAT SURFACE I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR UP TO A SPEED OF 40 MPH AND THEN LET OFF THE GAS AT WHICH TIME THE CAR STARTED TO GRAB AND SLOW QUICKLY BY 10 MPH AND THE RPMS WENT FROM 4 TO 1 AND THERE WAS A HUGE BANG UNDERNEATH MY CAR. TOOK THE CAR TO GET SERVICED BASED ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SAYING FOR A START STOP SYSTEM FAILURE (2ND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR THIS PROBLEM). THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE NEW RECALL WOULD HAVE TO TAKE TIME ON THE COMPUTER TO READAPT TO DRIVING TENDENCIES OF THE DRIVER ACCORDING TO JEEP BUT WOULD BE HAPPY TO TEST DRIVE IT FOR ME. IN A MATTER OF 30 MINUTES I WAS GIVEN A CALL THAT I HAD A TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I WAS GIVEN A RENTAL NO OTHER INFORMATION AND SENT ON MY WAY. I THINK TO ONLY HAVE 2600 MILES ON A 2015 JEEP CHEROKEE THAT I BOUGHT IN NOVEMBER IS A SHAME AND JEEP AND CHRYSLER SHOULD BE ASHAMED. TALKING ABOUT A $30,000 CAR TO HAVE TO HAVE A NEW TRANSMISSION INSTALLED AT ONLY 2600 MILES MAKES ME WORRIED WHEN MY BUMPER TO NUMBER EXPIRES WHAT COULD I HAVE TO REPLACE TO KEEP IT ON THE ROAD. *TR

I BOUGHT MY 2015 CHEROKEE LIMITED IN DECEMBER 2014. IT HAS A VERY ROUGH RIDE WITH JERKING MOVEMENTS AS IT SHIFTS GEARS.(OR ATTEMPTS TO SHIFT GEARS).AS YOU ARE BRAKING THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES WHICH HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO REAR END THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME MANY TIMES. I HAD TO LEARN HOW TO DRIVE TO ANTICIPATE THIS INEFFICIENT AND DANGEROUS SUV. AS I WAS ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY TO PASS, THE CAR JUST PAUSED WITHOUT ANY ACCELERATION AND THEN JERKED AND KICKED IN. VEHICLE PERFORMED VERY WELL FOR THE FIRST 11,500 UNTIL I DID A RO1 SOFTWARE RECALL AT DEALERSHIP. IMMEDIATELY UPON PICKING UP THE CAR, I NOTICED THAT THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER SHIFT PROPERLY. DEALER CLAIMED THAT I JUST NEEDED TO "RELEARN" IT. SIX WEEKS, 3000 MILES, 4 TRIPS BACK TO THE DEALER AND IT STILL WILL NOT SHIFT NORMALLY. AFTER FOUR TRIPS THEY FINALLY LEVEL WITH ME THAT THE NEW SOFTWARE PREVENTS A 3-2 DOWNSHIFT AND LIMITS THE AMOUNT THAT THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS AT ANY TIME. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS NOW. WHEN YOU SLOW DOWN ALL THE WAY TO 1MPH, THE CAR NOW STAYS IN 3RD GEAR SO THAT YOU HAVE NO POWER AT ALL WHEN TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED SEVERAL TIMES NOW EVEN THOUGH I AM TRYING TO GET A TWO BLOCK HEAD START. WHEN GOING AROUND THE CORNER, THE ONLY WAY THAT YOU CAN GET MOVING AGAIN IS TO JAM THE ACCELERATER TO THE FLOOR AND FORCE IT INTO FIRST GEAR, UPON WHICH THE CAR WILL SURGE AND LOOSE TRACTION. INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES ON THIS JEEP ARE FAULTY AND BREAK WITH ONLY NORMAL USE. I CALLED JEEP AND THEY SAID $400 A DOOR PANEL PLUS LABOR AND THEY CAN'T JUST FIX DOOR HANDLE THEY SAID WHOLE PANEL HAS TO BE REPLACED. THE TWO IN FRONT ARE COMPLETELY BROKE AND BACK TWO HAVE CRACKS. I WENT ONLINE WITH THIS ISSUE AND FOUND OUT THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF OTHERS LIKE ME IN THIS SITUATION. BECAUSE OF THIS COST IN REPAIRS I FEEL LIKE JEEP HAS PUT ME IN A UNSAFE SITUATION FOR MY FAMILY. VEHICLE SHAKES / WOBBLES WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP. THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE ACTUALLY FEELS LOOSE UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. ALSO, WHEN TURNING RIGHT AND / OR GOING UP AN INCLINE, THE FRONT END SHAKES AND THE VEHICLE HESITATES. JEEP ACKNOWLEDGES THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE AND THEY ARE REDESIGNING THE FRONT AXLES WITH A STURDIER DESIGN. THE ISSUE IS THAT THE REPAIR IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AT LEAST, BECAUSE IT'S STILL IN DEVELOPMENT. THERE IS A REAL CONCERN THAT THE AXLE COULD FAIL AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

I FIRST EXPERIENCED IT AT AROUND 1000 MILES, THEN AGAIN THIS MORNING WHEN I WAS ABLE TO REPEAT IT. I GOT A VIOLENT CRASH AND LURCH, WHEN I ACCELERATED, LET OFF, ACCELERATED AGAIN, LET OFF, AND APPLY NORMAL THROTTLE TO MAINTAIN SPEED. THIS CAN BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE, TURNING INTO TRAFFIC OR MANEUVERING AROUND OTHER VEHICLES. I WAS ABLE TO REPEAT IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN, BY SIMPLY DOING A HARD ACCELERATION FROM STOP, LETTING OFF THE GAS, AND THEN HARD ACCELERATION AGAIN, AND THEN APPLYING NORMAL THROTTLE INPUT. RPMS GO WILD, SOMETIMES GET UP TO 6000, AND IT SMASHES INTO 4TH GEAR. IT'S STARTLING AND I HAVE MINIMAL CONTROL OVER VEHICLE SPEED WHILE IT'S DOING THIS. ON MARCH 30 THE DEALER ATTEMPTED THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE AND REPORTED THAT WHEN THEY TEST DROVE IT, THE TRANSMISSION THEN WOULD NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY, AND THE CAR WOULD ONLY OPERATE IN "LIMP" MODE. THE CUSTOMER WAS GIVEN A RENTAL CAR. THE NEXT DAY, ON MARCH 31, 2015 THE DEALER NOTIFIED THE CUSTOMER THAT CONSULTATION WITH JEEP AND FURTHER DIAGNOSTICS INDICATED TWO LOCKING RINGS HAD BROKEN OR MALFUNCTIONED INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION, AND THEY WERE INSTALLING A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE CUSTOMER ALSO RECEIVED A RECORDED MESSAGE TELEPHONE CALL FROM JEEP ON MARCH 31, ASKING THE CUSTOMER TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR A TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE UPGRADE. CHRYSLER CAN NOT HAVE ANY FORM OF QUALITY CONTROL, IF 3 MAJOR COMPONENTS FAIL WITHIN 2600 MILES AS "DEFECTIVELY MANUFACTURED". THE ZF 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION IS A DISASTER AND CAUSING PROBLEMS EVERYWHERE. THE CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND DEALER NETWORK IS CORRUPT, NON TRUSTWORTHY, UNTRUTHFULLY, AND NONCAREING FROM THE TOP DOWN. THE DIGITAL SPEEDOMETER READ 20 MPH AND THE SPEEDOMETER READING INDICATED 75 MPH WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HOWEVER THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MERGE OVER TO THE EXIT AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER THAN 10 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TRANSMISSION BUCKS AND LURCHES. SLOW TO RESPOND TO GAS WHEN PULLING OUT. LOOKS FOR A GEAR WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. DANGEROUS TO DRIVE NOT KNOWING WHAT THE TRANS WILL DO OR NOT DO. TOOK IT TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS AND THEY CLAIM NO PROBLEMS. THE UPDATES DO NOT CORRECT THE ISSUES. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP & TIMES FOR THIS ONGOING PROBLEM. I'M PAYING FOR A LEASE AND RARELY DRIVE IT AFTER 2+ YEARS OF OWNERSHIP 10970 MILES ON IT. I DON'T TRUST IT FOR A LONG TRIP ANY LONGER.
THE TRANSMISSION WHICH IS 9 SPEED/AUTOMATIC (6 CYLINDER) FEELS LIKE IT GRINDS TO CHANGE AND IT JERKS QUICKLY WHEN IT DOES. THE RPM'S ALSO GO VERY HIGH AS TO SUGGEST THE GEARS ARE STICKING, NOT SHIFTING. I DRIVE ONLY 9 MILES EACH WAY TO WORK AND I AM TOTALLY FRUSTRATED BY THE TIME I GET THERE. THE CAR HAS ONLY 1400 MILES. THE 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION ON THE NEW JEEP CHEROKEE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE SAFE. IT HAS A MAJOR LAG ESPECIALLY AT ROLLING STOPS. WHEN ONE PRESSES THE GAS NOTHING HAPPENS FOR AROUND 2 TO 3 SECONDS THEN A HUGE BURST OF POWER. THAT MAY NOT SOUND LIKE A LONG TIME UNLESS YOUR IN THE MIDIAN TRYING TO TURN LEFT. IT HAS ALMOST GOTTEN ME KILLED ON SEVERAL OCCATIONS. THE VEHICLE HAS ALSO STARTED LAGGING WHILE PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY THEN IT GIVES YOU A BURST OF POWER ALMOST SENDING ME THROUGH MY GARAGE. I HAVE HAD TO PULL OUT OF A SLOW TRUN TO AVOID GETTING HIT THEN THE POWER COMES ON SENDING ME FLYING INTO A MEDIAN. JEEP THINKS IT'S THE TRANSMISSION AND THERE IS A 2 MONTH WAITING LIST JUST TO GET AN APPOINTMENT TO WAIT LONGER. I THINK THE PROBLEM STEMS FROM THE ENGINE START STOP SOFTWARE. WHEN YOUR GOING SLOW THE ENGINE IS PREPARING TO SHUT OFF BUT INSTEAD OF COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP LIKE SAY A LEFT TURN AT A GREEN LIGHT YOU PRESS THE GAS. THE COMPUTER TAKES A COUPLE SECONDS TO SWITCH TO POWER INSTEAD OF SHUTTING IT DOWN. WELL THAT'S MY BEST GUESS. I REALLY LIKE THIS VEHICLE THIS IS SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT. JEEP HASN'T OFFERED ANY HELP BEYOND SAYING THEYLL CALL ME IN A COUPLE MONTHS TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT. I HOPE IT DOESN'T GET ME INTO A WRECK BEFORE THEN.

ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE SOURCE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE POWER STEERING ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 5,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. TURNING RIGHT INTO TRAFFIC CAR LOSES POWER ALMOST HIT. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE CAR HAS SPENT OVER A MONTH SINCE IN THE SHOP. I AM TOLD THAT THERE IS A TRANSITION ISSUE WITH THE COMPUTER THAT THEY CANNOT FIX. I'M SCARED TO DRIVE MY NEW CAR NOT KNOWING WHEN IT WILL DECIDE TO GO OR NOT.
TRANSMISSION WILL INTERMITTENTLY SHIFT ERRATIC. STARTING OUT FROM A STOP IT WILL HAVE A DIFFICULT TIME STARTING TO MOVE WITH THE ACCELERATOR PRESSED, THEN 1 OR 2 SECONDS LATER IT WILL DOWN SIFT TO FIRST GEAR CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LURCH FORWARD IN AN UNCONTROLLED MANNER. I HAVE ENDED UP IN THE WRONG LANE BECAUSE OF THIS. ALSO AT INTERSECTIONS IT CAUSES CONFUSION WHEN TRYING TO GO IN TURN WITH OTHER VEHICLES BECAUSE THEY THINK YOUR YIELDING WHEN THE VEHICLE WON'T MOVE BUT THEN IT LURCHES ABRUPTLY INTO A NEW COLLISION.
